Nice setting, young, festive, lively atmosphere....spicy Mexican food but tasty...fresh products..pleasant smiling waitresses....

The food was OK, its the usual Americanized taco fare. Prices are a bit expensive, and there are no side/sauces included. They brought things we didnt order and then charged us for them, so watch your bill.

Olivia and Brennan made our night! My husband and I went out for some tacos after a movie at the screening room. We were sat at the bar where we were welcomed by Brennan who made some great recommendations, the mushroom taco, omg, so good. The Baja fish was the best fish taco my husband and I have ever had. Brennan also made us a delicious spicy margarita. Then we met Olivia, the beautiful and kind bartender who was hard at work like Brennan, and reminded us both of Jennifer Love Hewitt. She made us a coastal margarita and it was devine! The atmosphere is top notch, the decor is so sweet and the food is the best. Very clean bathrooms! Then when we left the restaurant, Olivia came running out after us to give my husband his metal water bottle that he had forgot. So sweet! All staff also looked happy and worked well together. Great place to go for a date night, late night tacos

Came here with our golden retriever for the patio and everything was amazing. Olivia was great and the food/drinks were super flavourful. So happy to have found a dog friendly tapas restaurant in Kingston so we dont have to leave her at home when we come for the summers :)

Went there tonight thinking it would be an awesome date night. Waited ten minutes and she sat us but at the door , like man we have had a long week this is our time together why do I want people walking past my table. Got seated order beers , waited 15 minutes still no drinks, the lights were nice music was so loud for a restaurant it seemed like a club and I had to sit super close to my husband to hear him speak and clearly the everyone was yelling to talk. No one said hey sorry we really busy , sorry for the wait waiter was mumbling and didn t even look at us us, seemed like she was done. No explanation of what kinda beer just it s Spanish beer after waiting for 15 minutes no explanation, no sorry and with how Loud it was we got up and left extremely disappointed and will never go there and will also tell other about experience just because of how bizarre and loud and unpleasant unorganized, a overall anxiety filled environment! And that s the energy workers give off! Horrible horrible experience and I ve never in my have ever experienced anything like this at a restaurant setting. We walked out after waiting for the waiter to say thanks but no thanks and she still didn t come or even look at us , I felt like a thirsty step child waiting on its angry mother!!!!! I will never forget the name of your restaurant cause of this experience so glad I didn t waste money! What good is the food when your environment and energy overall is trash . I m sorry but never again , it actually makes ruined our date night and we ended up leaving fighting on where to go cause at that point it was late thank you great servers it was like my husband and I were ghosts!

Came for a girls night and had such a lovely experience. The food was some of the best I ve had at a restaurant recently. The tacos were spicy but I m someone who doesn t do well with heat and everything was still delicious. The food came out quickly, the drinks were great and our server Olivia was phenomenal through the night

We drove from far away to eat here only to find out that they were closed for a private event. They should have marked themselves closed on Google places. Very disappointing. The manager read this review and contacted me to offer us a gift card. We returned to the restaurant to try the food. There was an awesome selection of tacos and all those that we tasted were delicious!! The service was excellent too. Great outdoor eating area with lots of shade. We will definitely come back again!

We tried a number of the tacos and they were all delicious. I recommend the pulled pork taco or the tuna tostada. Service was wonderful and it was a comfortable setting for a casual dinner.

The best Mexican food you can get in Kingston, combined with a friendly and attentive service. We went as a family with kids and each of us could not get enough. Can t wait to go back again.

Les plats arrivent dune façon aléatoire donc cétait de difficile de savoir quoi était a qui? Il serait préférable de commander et quand on a consommé de commander autre chose, si on a le temps bien sûr.

If you are looking for authentic Mexican food , this is really not the place to go to. The stuff was nice but the food was below average. Nachos were super salty, ceviche was horrible , tacos did not look like tacos , shrimps were greasy. Ive been to authentic Mexican restaurants in Toronto many times and that is far from being mexican. Sorry but experience was below average.

Easily one of my favourite restaurants in Kingston. The drinks, food, and staff make this a regular for me and my friends. The Picante margarita is my fav and I love every single taco they have, plus the ceviche. Staff are always super pleasant and make the meal fun every time. 10/10

Horrible service. Sat for 25 mins before we got menu, then another 20 mins before server even picked up menu. Saw waitress total of 2 times the entire 45 mins we were there. Drink orders weren t taken till 20 mins after we got there. Never had anyone come refills waters. Hostess, bartender and servers so rude when we voiced our concerns . As someone who works as a server in this town, this place has awful service! And staff! After telling another server we would like to pay for our long awaited drinks and leave, staff were nothing but rude and insulting our needs and making us seem over dramatic. We had to go into the restaurant three times to ask for our waitress for the menus, drinks, water, etc. If I could put zero for this place it would be zero.

Choose anything on the menu and it will be great

Definitely one of my favourite spots in Kingston, LOVE the new menu and can t wait to go back!! I highly recommend trying the Ramen and the tacos are all absolutely perfect no negative things to say about this restaurant they are the absolute best from front of house to back of house!! Parking: I recommend parking near slush puppy palace and walking

The tacos are really good and pretty decently priced (about $7 each, theyre smallish but packed and flavorful. The service is really quick, attentive and very friendly (in Kingston style, for those who dont know, people in Kingston are super friendly, great little town to visit). If youre looking for some decent tacos, check this place out, its located right downtown near the piers!

The drinks were alright. Fair priced and reasonable taste. Nothing too amazing but not bad. The food however was extremely mediocre. 20 minutes to make 2 tacos, when there was no one in there today. Our server checked on us 3 times without one of the party having to single them out to get them. It got so bad that we had to get another waitress to bring us our bill because our waitress just didnt care. They were more interested in talking as a group at the front with the other staff. The lack of seasoning was abysmal. Coming from Toronto where we have a wealth of amazing Mexican places owned by some awesome people. I cant help but feel this place is owned by someone who never worked in the restaurant industry because the service is the worst Ive ever seen and Ive worked in the industry for well over a decade across multiple continents and its the only time I have honestly considered not even tipping. Please get someone who knows how to cook and season food, just slapping some names on a menu that resemble Mexico doesnt make it Mexican. Also for a Birria taco it was super dry, plain and the most flavor was the little bit of lime and the mildest salsa Verde Ive ever seen. Super disappointed and dont think Ill be back. If you want drinks and are OK with a wait its alright but Id recommend other joints in town first. For food avoid.

Great food experience. Would go back but would recommend sitting outside if possible. The restaurant is actually quite small inside and can be almost unbearable due to the volume of music and surrounding tables.

The service was fairly good, but the food is really lacking greasy and bland. Some of the flavour combinations were odd borderline gross. The cocktails are good, but you can get better cocktails at other restaurants in downtown Kingston. The place also tends to get quite loud. They seem fairly disorganized. Orders didn t come out right, and the bills were incorrect. Overall I wouldn t recommend. Mesa Fresca on the west end is better.

Awesome restaurant with an interactive way to order. The food was great and the staff are very knowledgeable and fun to talk to! Vegetarian options: There are amazing vegetarian options as well, even for meat lovers!

Been there three times and have only good things to report. Standouts for me have been the Oaxaca Old Fashioned, tuna tostada, fish taco and ramen in bone broth (the latter is not on the printed menu).

We were welcomed without a reservation on a Friday evening. This is a fun place to enjoy good food and nice drinks. We ordered fish taco and roasted cauliflower taco with the ceviche pescado sharable. Drinks were yummy too.

Third time at Baja with my Mexican colleague. Food is excellent and the selection of Mexican dishes is unique and everything is made to perfection (i.e. Birria). Servers are friendly and welcoming. Kitchen is quick, and food is made with local and fresh ingredients. Even their Tequila selection is unique and original. As good as it gets (outside of Mexico ;-)

The BEST tacos in Kingston! After looking for a local place to eat before a Frontenacs game, I came across Baja Craft Kitchen. While reading their menu, I immediately knew it was a place to try. I was able to make a reservation within an hours notice (we were lucky), and I m so glad it worked out. The tacos are extremely flavourful and made to order. The chicken, brisket, and chorizo were the three I had and would order again. The chips, quac, and salsa are some of the best i ve had. The atmosphere was great and the service was fast. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone living or visiting Kingston, ON!

I really loved the food here and the atmosphere is really cool and relaxed. Great tacos.

Such good food, drinks, service and atmosphere the only downfall is their music selection which is generic top 40 and doesnt fit the place. I have been there 3 or 4 times and love it but the music really puts a damper on the atmosphere.

Everything is awesome except about the music they play, I have been there a few times and in every occasion the only disappointment has been their choice of music (mainstream top 40) and the volume, sometimes too loud. Tacos and drinks are really good

Had a fantastic late lunch at Baja on a Saturday afternoon. We were just visiting Kingston and happened to stumble upon it while searching for an interesting restaurant to try. We tried the pescado, birria, chorizo, mushroom, tuna tataki, & tuna tostada tacos. All were fantastic but the tuna tostada was a clear favourite for us. It wasnt really a taco but rather a mix of tuna and avocado goodness on a perfectly crispy chip. We loved it so much we ordered it again after our first round of tacos. It added up quick for sure and its a bit of an expensive meal but worth it for a special treat!

I ordered the beet salad. One red beet, one orange beet and one striped beet cut up with a tasteless mayonnaise drizzle for $17.00. How disappointing .and $18.00 for a glass of wine .sigh .

It was nice to get out when we don t get the chance to much! However super disappointing There is a shareable with scallops on the menu. If you re expecting more than a plate of cucumbers, sprouts and cilantro you ll be disappointed. A better description is warranted.

Not sure how this place gets good reviews. Brutal service, no management on site seemingly, extremely poor communication about the menu items.

A delicious, must-try restaurant! The staff are very friendly and made great recommendations. We really the enjoyed cocktails - especially the Capilla Margarita! Our favourite tacos were the Quesabirria, Tostado en Calabeza and the Tuna Tostado. The Chilaquiles Verdes we re also great. End the meal with fruit and Tajin for a special treat!

The rich flavor combinations are simply magnificent. Ate there for a quiet lunch and a busy dinner, yet the food comes out just as fast so very little waiting. Service was very friendly and attentive. Can t wait to return on my next visit to Kingston

Ordered the chorizo, mushroom, birria tacos, the steak platter, the agua chile, some cocktails (order the paloma), kiddo loved the kid menu. Overall, the best mexican food in Kingston, if youre tired of tex mex mediocrity - slide over here and you will get the real deal - impressive

I was really looking forward to visiting Baja and after reading all the great reviews, but Im very disappointed after my visit. I want to start by saying that the servers were very nice and patient with us. However, we didnt know we had to write down our order before placing it and we waited for a while until we finally figured it out. We did tell the servers that it was our first time and yet no one bothered to let us know thats how youre supposed to order. We were seated at our table and we were disappointed by how poorly lit the space was. We also ordered a drink and received the wrong one. We read raving reviews about the food here and Im still confused as to why. We ordered the chilaquiles verdes and the aguachile. The chilaquiles barely had any salsa verde, they were more like nachos. The aguachile was fresh but was lacking in flavour. Overall, it makes me think that the only reason this place has good reviews is because Kingston still doesnt have a good place that sells authentic Mexican food, so people really think this is it and... it really isnt. If youre planning to come here, I urge you to reconsider and maybe go to Lonestar, which is next door. Its not authentic Mexican food but at least the place is bigger, better lit and the food is actually decent.

Tasty, but disorganized. My friend wasnt served any tacos until after my wife and I had two each, as tacos were only served as they were prepared in the kitchen. Items were missing from our orders as well. It struck me as odd that orders were missed as we were asked to write down our orders on menu slips at the table.

Their food has a wide range of flavours. Everything was fresh and delicious. That along with the eclectic drink options made for a great experience. Our server Shannon was friendly and attentive!

Fantastic little Tapas eatery just off the beaten path!

Delicious tacos, addicting masa chips, nice vibe, good service. We headed to Kingston for a day trip from Toronto to meet some friends and decided on Baja for a late dinner. Food was really good and the different hot sauces they offer were delicious! The missing star is because it was a bit pricey.

The place is amazing - far exceeded my expectations. Im on a business trip with a colleague - and both him and I were impressed. Of the many trips weve made to Kingston, this meal topped all of them.

I call this the Boo Who Baja Craft Kitchen. Went there with a group of Friends, Food came out 1 at a time if it even came out. 2 hours waiting for a salad!! Talked to manager and wait staff , they used the excuse that the kitchen was very busy, but they continued to seat new customers. Gave them zero stars as nothing was good. Service was terrible, and dont know what the food tasted like because I canceled my order after waiting 2 hours for the food. Never again..Worst experience ever.

Tucked in a little ally way right beside the waterfront stands this awesome spot! The decor/ vibe is awesome, and the interior is actually pretty spacious. As soon as I walked in I was in awe. So pretty! There is a nice shaded patio which was the perfect spot for this beautiful weather. The food-Beautiful! Flavourful! Everything was VERY good. In order of faves: Tacos- Chorizo, Quesabirria, Tuna Tostada, Tataki The house made Masa chips with Guac were great as well. The Mesa reminded me of a mix of tortilla chip and pupusa dough. Some soft centres, and some crunch. The cocktails are soooo tasty. They have lots to choose from, along with beer, tequila, Mezcal, and wine. 10/10 I will be back!

A very good place to hang out and catch up with friends with the help of snacks and drinks, would not recommend if you re going with the intention of eating a meal. However, even knowing this was a tapas style restaurant, meaning snacks and entree sized meals are the norm, the 7$ for one regular taco (not many mini tacos or one larger sized taco, but one single taco) was shocking and unfulfilling. My partner and I had hope the chilaquiles would fill us up, but they resembled more of nachos than authentic chilaquiles (this was a bit of a let down,but the taste was still very good). TLDR; Overpriced for the quantity of food, but good for hanging out with snacks and drinks.

Very expensive for not a lot of food. Tacos were pretty good but I cant say the same for the chilaquiles which were pretty much just cheese-less nachos. Fantastic service and environment but overall just overpriced food.

Had lunch today, the pozolo Rojo soup was excellent. Had corn chips and salsa, also very good. Great atmosphere, service was top notch.

While I found the floor staff a bit pretentious, the food was impeccably cooked and presented. The wine and tequila menus were well chosen and it is clear someone really knows food at this place! Some of my favourite items have not been on the menu lately, but I would recommend a stop in to try the fare from this tapas-style craft kitchen for sure.

Fun, fresh and lively! Went on the Friday night of welcome back weekend with my husband and son ( new queens student). First restaurant in Kingston and it was fabulous! The masa chips blew my mind!!! We had our wedding reception at Baja. The service leading up to our event was excellent, management helping us get organized and creating the environment we wanted for the evening. The food and service was impeccable during the event of 100 guests. We have only received compliments for those who attended. 5

The food here is amazing! Super refreshing on a hot day and the service was great too. Every dish is really distinctive and worth trying! I especially loved the tuna tostadas with the macha salsa

Great service and a nice place. We ordered 5 or 6 dishes and were pretty disappointed in all except one. The food was really disappointing. We ve had much better Mexican food for 1/2 the price (or less) elsewhere.

The food was very good. Our party agreed that our favorite was the fish tacos. We sat on the patio which is a narrow deck with seating for about 12. Parking: We were there on Kingston Day and had to park about 4 blocks away.

Super cute dinner spot tucked away with delicious sharable appetizers and yummy inventive tacos. East place for a group of people or date night spot! Loved their list of cocktails and the large selection of margaritas. Pro tip: Would highly recommend making a reservation because it was bumping, and they turned people away without one.

Such a hoppy place. Good music. It was loud though so if you want more of an atmosphere to talk it might not be your choice. The food was amazing. Masa chips were my favourite, they were sooo good. Drinks were well made as well. Our waitress was super friendly and timely with our orders.

Great Mexican space in downtown Kingston. The server (forgot their name) was super friendly and provided excellent service. Helped with menu items. The special cocktail is just amazing and so well mixed. I will definitely go back here. They have good veg /vegan options. Great ambiance and interiors. Food was super tasty and good portion size so you can build on.

Tried this place last weekend with my husband. The vibe was cool and the drinks were good, but we waited 20 minutes for a server to even come to our table. She was very abrupt and not helpful with the menu at all. The food was really expensive for the portion sizes and the tacos were quite bland. Sadly not a repeat for us!

Last evening I went to Baja for dinner, my first time there. I was very impressed with everything I had. The decor is lovely. We ordered several items and shared some. The presentation was excellent and the flavour of the food was spectacular. Everyone was so friendly. Chef Graham Quance and his team have a great menu and I highly recommend this restaurant. I will be recommending this restaurant to many people.

Great margarita choices (I had a coconut one), our server was very helpful with the menu since I dont eat meat. I had a cauliflower taco, mushroom taco, and shared the chips with guacamole and salsa Verde. The chips were unlike any Ive had before.. very thick and crispy with an almost soft inside. So good , will be back !

Perhaps this was a one-off, but still think this is worth mentioning: we ordered two drinks, guac, chips, aguachile, and four tacos for a table of two. It was odd that the tacos came out first (not something Ive ever experienced at a Mexican restaurant), but what was more disappointing was that we waited 20+ minutes for our two other dishes -- two of which (especially the guac) are normally first to come out. Our server wasnt attentive, and when he did come around, he didnt offer an explanation or an apology for the delay, or even an ETA on when the dishes would arrive. We ended having to leave because we didnt anticipate such a long experience and we had another engagement to get to. I understand that Saturday nights can get the kitchen backed up, but the restaurant wasnt full and our server wasnt doing much to assure us or make us feel acknowledged for waiting. I dont think my evening wouldnt have been as soured had the server not deflected the long wait on the kitchen. Felt like he was blaming his own team without investigating himself or didnt want to provide reasoning for the long wait that would at least allow me to sympathize. He didnt seem interested in making us feel like welcomed to stay. A shame!

This is by far the best tacos I ve ever tasted in Kingston. The Caesar Salad was fantastic and do tasty. Special thanks to Madeline who was so helpful and nice. Keep up the good work guys.

I ve been here 3 times this year. Excellent quality and delicious, fresh food and drinks. One of my new Kingston favourites. It can be a bit loud so keep that in mind depending on your dining companions.

Recently returned from my lunch at Baja. I was meeting with an old school friend. We were those customers: too engrossed in catching up to focus on the menu or any decision making whatsoever. Our server was wonderful. Very patient and friendly, gave us time and helpful suggestions. I wish I had gotten her name! The food was delicious as well. Thank you!

Simply put, this is my new favourite restaurant in Kingston. I have yet to have something that isnt phenomenal. The Baja fish taco? Amazing. The tuna tataki and lions mane are also absolutely incredible. I have already come back and brought more people. A+++

I came to Baja this week for tacos and I was pretty happy with my mean! I ordered the tuna, birria and fish tacos as well as the grilled shrimp as a starter. I like that you can order tacos by piece to try multiple flavours. The fish taco was my favourite by far! I took 1 star off because the birria taco was fairly bland, Ive had them at other restaurants where they are juicy and flavourful so I was disappointed with how this one tasted. Otherwise, food was great, service was great, the restaurant was quiet on a wedneday night. Overall, I would recommend it to anyone!

Best margaritas in town by far! I m so happy to finally find a place in Kingston that does legit Mexican food. Can t wait to go back and try more dishes. The only negative thing is the music is WAYYYY too loud, you have to scream if you are seated inside.

Visited this gem last night for the first time with a friend and absolutely loved it! Great drinks, food and service! We had chips with salsa roja and guacamole, two queso birria tacos , one chicken and the Caesar salad!

Outstanding food and Fantastic service!!! Several people covering each area meant we didnt have to wait for attention. THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT!!! Great, simple full flavors. Definitely a place we will come back to.

The food was excellent. Unfortunately, the service was horrible. Our waiter was not very attentive and only half of our food came out. When the waiter, Sydney, finally came back to the table and we informed her that we were still waiting for our food, she was very defensive and stated all the food had arrived and didn t offer to go check with the kitchen or suggest a solution until we stated several times we definitely did not get all the food. She then came back saying it was taken to another table by accident. I understand mistakes happen, but the waiter was very stand off ish when we brought up the issues. We were still charged for the food that didn t arrive and when I asked for the bill to be changed she went to change it but brought the bill unchanged. The atmosphere was nice but the music was so loud the waiters could barely hear us.

Second time here. Salsa macha was separated and burnt. Guac was so bland, Ive had better out of a bag. I was excited to have the mushroom taco again, but it was not the same. Dessert, masa chips, and the margarits saved this from being a totally miserable experience.

Went for dinner on Saturday night, they were busy, and accommodated me and my guest without a reservation. The service was exceptional. The food was delicious. The overall atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed. The tapas style plates make for a great dining experience. It is far beyond the experience at many places in Kingston.

What an amazing discovery in the hearth of Downtown Kingston . I almost dont want to share it because I hate it when they are full and I cant just walk in for a meal. If you want to eat Baja Californian Mexican food and enjoy amazing Margaritas (not fishbowl sugar juice) that is the place. Parking: Right in the hearth of downtown Kingston you can find plenty of parking near by or worst case at a 5 min walk. Kid-friendliness: Our 13 yrs old son loved the concept of various plate and their homemade blue chips are to die for. Order the extra guacamole

I ve heard nothing but good things about Baja and our dining experience exceeded any expectations! The atmosphere is really inviting and the service was attentive. We tried a variety of items - Baja Fish, Queso Birria, Guajillo Chicken, corn chips with salsa, margaritas, and palomas. Everything was delicious and we will definitely be coming back!

After hearing many positive reviews from friends we finally tried it and may have just found our new favorite restaurant in Kingston. The atmosphere is nice, which surprised us because the pictures on here didnt look great. The food was delicious, reasonably priced and topped off with good service

It s a hidden gem, tucked away in a corner but once you get there , you cannot stop coming back again and again!

Great atmosphere, vibe and service. Some different options on the menu which was great; the octopus salad was a risk, it was unlike anything I have had and I really enjoyed it. Hope to see the menu expand and to try more dishes. Only downside would be the price for small portion sizes, as long as you go in prepared for more of a tapas-style meal you won t be disappointed.

Amazing vibe with delicious food and drinks. Staff is all incredibly friendly especially Claudia. Can t wait to come back!

Decided to check out this little treasure. Tried a couple of the Tacos on their menu and they were so good. Steve our server was great at making suggestions to my son and I to try. A variety of tacos, a few salads, a few other items (Ceviche; ramen dish, fish; Avocado fries as example). I will go back again. Be sure to check it out. Once again, a big Thanks to server Steve; took us a little off the beaten path of normal food items and we discovered some new tastes that were so delicious.

I went to Baja to celebrate my birthday with my friends and we booked the private room. Because we were a larger group we got the #2 taco package and it was perfect for 14 people. The server Steve, his trainee, the bar staff, the kitchen staff and Dave, the owner, made our night so comfortable and special. The atmosphere was so inviting, the drinks were perfect, the food was absolutely delicious and the attention to detail was appreciated. I highly recommend checking this restaurant out and booking your next party there! I will definitely be back soon to try more of their yummy cocktails & other items on the menu.

Great new spot in downtown Kingston! The environment and atmosphere was really fun and welcoming. The staff were fantastic, went above and beyond to ensure a good experience. I asked for fun alcohol free drink recommendations and they did not disappoint! I had a couple plates but the stand out for me was the Tuna Tostada and the Carnita Taco.

The atmosphere here is great! Paige gave excellent service and the cocktails and tacos were amazing.
