Excellent service and food. Great price and a very nice cachet. Our table was just by the fireplace.
Shockingly good meal, I was not expecting food of the quality served. Hidden gem for food and atmosphere.
A friend and I were staying at the Best Western Fireside Inn and didn't feel like going to far for dinner so decided to try Bistro Stefan. It was a wonderful dinner - food was delicious (we both ordered the prime rib) and our server Bruce was amazing. We would certainly visit again and recommend to anyone in Kingston looking for a nice meal.
We celebrated my parents 61 wedding Anniversary and we could not have gone to a better Bistro. The food was absolutely fantastic, the service was top notch and ambiance was perfect. It is pricy however you get what you paid for. It was definitely worth every penny.👍
Actually we were next door at tom's place the pub area. The ambiance is intimate especially with the log fire going. Joanne was fantastic met up with a friend from school and stayed for a few hrs. We had the smoked meat and ceasar salad and the smoked salmon on a bagel. Both were ample portions and the salad was the best! The apple martini was delicious. This place fills up quickly between 430-6 for after work so keep that in mind or patrons from the hotel. Have eaten in bistro Stephan before the prime rib is recommended.
Soup and salad were great as was the dessert. Unfortunately the stuffing was very dry and had little taste. The turkey was generous portion. Gravy was good we asked for extra and it was given at no charge. Vegetables were also good nicely al dente. Service was good. Found it a little strange that the utensils and glassware were mismatched for the preliminary course. The wine glasses and utensils for the main meal did match.
Friendly staff, good atmosphere. The food was good overall. I'll skip the scallops next time. Portion was very small and needed bacon :-) The steak was great, the the chicken was good. I'm looking forward to trying the sea food risotto and braised beef ribs next.
I like trying new things. I never had Wild Bore before. So last night supper I had Wild Game Trio. It was very delicious and the wine that the server suggested went very well with the meal. I what to say to the chef and the kitchen staff and the server thank you 4 the nice experience I had last night.
Very good restaurant. Wonderful service. Perfect for lovers or with friends. Bruce is a very nice server and created wonderful service for us!
Prime rib excellent
10/10, this was the best restaurant Ive been to in all of Ontario so far, the service in incredible and the tenderloin came perfectly as requested. Free garlic bread and got a free chocolate strawberry as dessert, would certainly recommend visiting the Kingston location if you have a chance. Beautiful building and fireplace. Expected it to be an arm and a leg but only cost us $182 for lobster and crab spinach dip starter, filet mignon, rack of lamb, and a bottle of Valpolicella. Will definately be going back again.
Amazing food and fantastic service for our anniversary dinner! We will be back in the future
Best food in kingston. Had the lamb..perfection. our servor Bruce was the icing on the cake. Thanjs Bruce
Fantastic.
Ordered the filet, was the best cut of meat I have had out In Kingston , Our server Bruce was delightful and made it a perfect night
Nice dinner, perfect atmosphere, food quality is good but lacks the flavor Service is amazing.
Filet Mignon was perfectly cooked and seasoned, the Tagliatelle pasta was al dente and delicious. Service was great, already thinking about my next visit.
Great restaurant. Very unique and comfortable. Food is great too.
Bruce was absolutely amazing! So kind and made sure we were comfortable. The food was so delicious from the bread to dessert we absolutely will be back
I visited as Santa and enjoyed my visit.
One of the best in Kingston!
Breakfast that came with my hotel (best western fireside inn) attached was not good. The potatoes werent cooked, the eggs werent even egg but I think powdered egg and very dry. There was no toast. No gluten free items. Yogurt was watery, no flavor ( should have been in seperate containers not from a machine like water ) Beans were the dregs of some long forgotten slop left over from World War 2. Dont even touch the water it was foul. ( no idea what they did wrong there but it was like sewer water) I thought we were the only ones who had a problem but we found in the hallway on a cart (room service) on our way back to our room, people who had left their breakfast outside. Low and behold what had they not touched? Potatoes and egg. Second day the potatoes were cooked but swimming in oil. Egg was the same. I know companies are trying to cut corners and such but seriously, if you were to serve up a good breakfast i would give you a glowing review. Its time to up your game as serving up this in the morning is not good for business. All it takes is a little care. No one is expecting bells and whistles here but attention to detail. The fireside inn says the breakfast is free but we all know its not, its included in the overpriced hotel.
ill
Its a hidden gem! The atmosphere was relaxing and inviting. We were seated on the belony overlooking the the restaurant... the only problem would be those who have a difficult time with stairs, there are a lot of stairs in this place. I ordered the... Omgosh I am going to butcher this! The spinach, mushroom and goat cheese pasta dish with rose sauce. It was fantastic and suprisingly very filling.
We went for dinner with two other couples. We were a little loud and kept changing our minds. Nat, our server, didn t get flustered at all. Her service was spot on. We weren t rushed in the least, yet there was just the perfect time between courses. And the food was excellent. Couldn t have been more pleased. Would definitely recommend
Between Toronto and Montreal, a real bistro with a gastronomic touch in its dishes and decor. Pleasant welcome, a chef who knows how to season his dishes and is extra clean. We will stop there again without hesitation and perhaps even for a night if necessary.
I have never had a more perfectly cooked steak prices are high.....vut after the meal i had....i didnt feel like i got ripped off
Great staff. Menu needs more vegetarian options. No vegan options available.
BEAUTIFUL - WONDERFUL ATMOSPHERE and FOOD and SERVICE My wife and I stayed at Ontarios BEST Hotel, the Best Western Fireside Inn in Kingston and thoroughly enjoyed the EXCELLENT food and service and staff at the Bistro Stefan. We sure hope to do it again with a 2- or 3-night stay at the Fireside Inn to we can enjoy historic Kingston and area and more wonderful food and service.
I agree with the previous poster, not a place to go if your hungry. Portions are very slight, I thought newvous cuisine was old school. My companion diner had the filet mignon @ $40.00, Again not much on the plate. My daughter had the mushroom risotto, there might have been 7 ounces of risotto and that was considered an entree. Both times we visited, we were told that they were busier than expected, so our food would take longer to come out of the kitchen. It did take a long time. I had their gourmet poutine, it arrived 40 minutes later, cold, made with frozen fries, a lot of fat, that I suppose came off the beef brisket, but there was more fat than brisket, no gravey or sauce to speak of and like I said the whole plate was so cold the cheese would not melt, even after I put it under the fries and brisket. Very disappointed. At the price of $19.00 plus tax I expected something outstanding. I have eaten much better poutine from a chip truck, for a lot less. If your hungry I would suggest trying The Cavalier Room at the Lasalle hotel, upper Princess Street, They have excellent food and plenty of it, very reasonable prices. The decor will take you back to the 70 s, but I kinda like that.
Good choice, good food and decent prices. Worth a try
Excellent food
Great atmosphere. Superb food. Wonderful wait staff. The only thing we did not love was that we were seated next to an emergency exit (the least visibly pleasing area of the restaurant). Otherwise, it is a 5 star.
Great food and atmosphere
Before going there we thought we would be having a great experience. The food is undoubtedly tasty. However, the portions size are really small when compared to the prices. The service is not that great. My husband and I were treated as if they wanted us to be out of there as soon as possible, even though we spent a lot of money there. So the price/benefit doesnt really match the experience, which is unfortunate.
Great dining place friendly staff! Part of the Best Western but well run family business! Theyre special brunches are the best in town! High quality food! There is also Toms place as an alternative in the hotel! A lot of the staff have worked there for 25 years.
Excellent dinner for an unbeatable price because we had one night at the Best Western and therefore a preferential rate. I highly recommend the grilled ribs, crunchy vegetables and baked potatoes. A very good experience!
The food is good, the price is reasonable, we go there from time to time.
My beloved and I went because of the reviews. We were a little apprehensive when we learned that this restaurant was in a Best Western, but it was convenient for where we were going after dinner so we stuck with it. We had the pleasure of dining here on one evening and would have gone again but when we called it was too late. The food is delicious starting with the bread, the appetizers and the meals. I recommend the steak.
Excellent food, excellent service.
We recently had our wedding and had our cocktails at Toms Place and then moved over to Bistro Stefan for dinner. The staff at both places were so accommodating and went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. The food at both was amazing, especially dinner at Bistro. I would highly recommend them for any occasion and will definitely be returning. A special thank you to Jo and Toms Place and Danielle at Bistro for taking care of us. Cheers.
Great food!
5 star sums it up, great food and great service.
Fine dining and reasonable prices. Good menu and great dish presentations. Nice atmosphere with separated areas for any occasion.
Very very good steak but the booth seating was uncomfortable the seats are too narrow
Not really great for corporate functions, basically being up in the private room is not ideal.
Never had a bad meal here.
Great food. Cozy.
We enjoyed our dinner. Had dinner for my wifes birthday and everything was excellent.
A formal dining experience without being stuffy or overly expensive.
Great atmosphere, Great food, Great staff
Awesome place to meet up with friends for a few cocktails. Comfy atmosphere.
Great breakfasts here!!
I like Bistro Stefan. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the food is delicious.
Todays special was venison, i.e. game with vegetables, baked potatoes and a kind of ratatouille made from tomatoes, corn and black beans, preceded by a salad. The game was tender as butter and cooked to perfection - simply perfect. The portion was plentiful. Our service was friendly and attentive, but not intrusive. The restaurants decor is a little old-fashioned, but that doesnt change the quality of the food. I can only rate price + performance as very good.
Waitress was new and poured our wine very sloppily. The steaks were okay. The atmosphere was like a rural diner, which I guess can be a plus. If I go to a steakhouse and I can cook all the food on the plate better at home, I dont think I can sing high praise. And even with only okay food, the environment was more a detractor than a plus. Luckily, our group still had a great evening. But there are many better places in kingston to spend a 30+cad per person.
Nice atmosphere, but if you want a meal thats filling, this is not the place. $22.00 For 6 ravioli as a main course. Would not have been too bad if the ravioli were not pretty much empty & flat. Was able to discern a few miniscule bits of filling but otherwise pretty much bare........ The sauce was good, but it took me about 2 minutes to eat. Not satisfying at all although it looked good. All Is ask is that you would not be so sparing with the filling. It was basically 6 squares of ravioli shell coverered in sauce.
Dont let the dated yellow awning outside fool you, this is a fantastic place for a nice meal. Wait staff were fantastic, and the food was superb.
