The interior is cozy yet classy. The waiters are very personable and the food is amazing. I recommend their mushroom pasta and creme brulée. It s definitely worth coming back multiple times to try everything on their menu.

The menu was small which shows they do them well. The Nabulsi salad was surprisingly good. The ingredients like radish, fried Nabulsi pecans and other greens all came other together very well. Had seared Ahí tuna as a side was a perfectly sized dish. Staff was very naturally friendly and jovial. Decor was classic and cozy. There was terrace seating in a picturesque patio away from traffic. Highly recommended.

I wish I could remember the name of our server last night. He was excellent. Our table of 10 was celebrating my nieces nursing graduation. Our server made some fabulous recommendations. Everyone was very pleased with their meal. We would easily recommend this restaurant. Looking forward to our next visit!

Its a famous place, apparently. The place is nice, a more than subdued atmosphere, we can barely see our plates . We didnt have time to read the wine list, the waiter, nice but rustic, kept coming back to see us to hurry us along. The cocktail oysters were super good, at $20 for 6 ! The rest... beef requested rare which arrived well cooked, vegetables not cooked enough.. no sauce. Good. $48 per dish. Mushroom orrecchiete with 3 pieces of mushrooms and a white wine cream sauce that Im always looking for. Dry, tasteless, no complicity with the customers, it may be a good place for Kingston But seen from France... not great. We recommend the Pecorinos a little further away.

Great place! I ve been several times over many years and it s consistently a nice experience. Good food (I particularly LOVE the spring rolls that are here and at Pan Chancho), good drinks, and good service at a charming location tucked in the cute little alleyway.

Dessert and coffee were excellent, we shared a chocolate short bread crust tart with a salted caramel sauce that was divine. Service was excellent. The building itself is lovely. Husband enjoyed his scallops - said they were good, not the best hed had but good. My dish was a miss for me. The asian inspired spring roll salad was not to my liking. The spring rolls were more like egg rolls, a dense filling of chicken/pork/shrimp, with an odd sauce that was sort of like a thin duck sauce. I guess my expectation of a spring roll is a light filling with some vegetables in it with a tangy chili type sauce. The salad was greens and vermicelli, thinly sliced fresh veggies, but very plain, no seasoning or dressing, so I asked for soy sauce and it helped. I think I will go back but try something that is not asian, a more conventional dish like chicken or lamb.

Since I was a kid I wanted to come to this restaurant as an adult and get adult dinner. It lived up to my expectations of being the best restaurant experience ever!

Great food, nice atmosphere, poor service. Evidently making a reservation and honouring it is complicated. The fact that we had to wait 15 minutes for our table to be vacated by the group ahead of us was bad enough especially when it was hinted that they arrived a half hour late for their reservation. The fact that there was no place to wait except outside when we could have sat at the six empty seats at the bar except those were promised to a group who had already eaten but had to vacate their table for another reservation? A side note, the ladies washroom has a mess and despite being told two or three times, it was never addressed. Dietary restrictions: Food sensitivities were acknowledged

Chez Piggy A highly regarded restaurant in downtown Kingston, the building up was heavy, heard many great things, people swear by chez Piggy. First the drinks came and the Old fashion was one of the best I have had in years, the decor was amazing. Oysters came, they were also great! Ok so far this is perfect. Next came the chicken wings and nope, Sent them back.. they were tough and flavorless, felt rushed. The mains came, I had the rack of lamb which for 55$ I though would have been a bit more substantial, two lollipops and the meat was kinda blue, should have been re-fired but still incredible tasting. Steak came and it, without a doubt was blue, rare rare rare as can be. I am not sure if the kitchen staff felt rushed but everything felt a touch undercooked. Overall a great night, happy I didnt get the pork lol undercooked would have been bad, I can see the care and love they put into the place, I will be back on a weekend to see if that improves the overall experience. Thanks for having us, check you meat temps and serve the medium rare as requested and everything would have been 5 stars. Cheers!

The atmosphere was delightful. They have indoor and outdoor dining options. Had the mushroom soup as a special which was nice. The chicken main course was tender. The scallops were fresh. Seems to be a known treat to the locals.

Had lunch with a friend - it was a super busy Thursday afternoon, the front of house inside the restaurant was a complete mess, random pieces of rags, boxes, etc laying around, no acknowledgement from the front of house stuff upon walking in and I was scolded for talking to the FOH while they were helping someone else. The patio and the inside of the restaurant are really lovely, the patio felt quiet and secluded, albeit a bit overstuffed with chairs to the point of you couldnt move your chair far enough without touching someone elses. Now the food - I had the pan-zal-nella sandwich which was incredibly mediocre - yes the bread was nice, but the inside of the sandwich is basically a tomato slice + mozzarella. The olive tapenade and small cherry tomatoes were on top of one of the pieces of the sandwich - not entirely sure what that added to the meal. A very subpar experience, likely wont be back again.

Great courtyard, good food, but high prices. Male service person was unfriendly, had a very strong accent and was very disinterested in non-native speakers. Its a shame, it could have been a great evening.

Upon walking in to the restaurant through the courtyard, you are greeted by fairy lights and a wonderful eclectic atmosphere, with delicious smells wafting up to welcome you. We ordered the house sausage with our bread. The bread was an authentic sourdough made by their sister bakery, Pan Chancho. The sausage was smoky and packed with flavor. We had Jackfruit cake for the appetizer, and Linguini Aglio Olio, Black White + Green, Levantine Lamb for the main, and fresh Strawberry Shortcake for dessert. All of the food was amazing. There are no words to describe the incredible mix and depth of flavors in each dish. It felt like each one was crafted with care and love with a chef who has one of the best handle on flavors. Overall, extremely pleased with my dining experience and amazing food. I would say its definitely worth coming out here for.

The patio was full. I would recommend a reservation. I sat at the bar. The bartenders were very knowledgeable about the menu. All the staff were very attentive from what i saw. A customer had asked what they would recommend for non dairy. The staff were able to help out. Food was fantastic. I had the special, which was a steak. The cook on it was spot on. Will stop in on my way by again and again.

Had high hopes. Ordered salmon on pasta as it was the special for the day...got a small slice of salmon, on some pretty bland pasta with basic boiled peas. Im no chef, nor do I brag about my home cooking, but I could have made the same dish much better. When we got the bill, I realized it was $47 for this small slice of salmon. I thought maybe $25 tops...no idea how this place is so highly rated. Maybe it was just the special they messed up?

What a beautiful terrace! Delicious and original food. I recommend oysters, fish cakes, chicken paillard and salmon. Service a little laborious, but our server was very busy because the terrace was full. A large private parking lot is located on the street nearby (access via the next side street on the right). $5 per evening but bring change to pay, because if you pay by card they charge you 3x the price!!

**August 2024 Update** Im happy to report that a recent visit to Chez Piggy has changed my mind completely from four years ago. We had a delightful dinner under the stars (actually, under the umbrellas) on the terrace. The atmosphere was lovely, the staff very attentive and the food very good. Prices are typical for a well-regarded restaurant such as Chez Piggy (about $160 with tax for two people, with a 1/2 litre of wine and a shared charcuterie board to begin, espresso to finish). As I said, a really enjoyable meal and well worth it. This place is far over-rated. The menu is limited and expensive. There are much better restaurants where one may spend their hard-earned money. We will not return here soon.

Chez Piggy is iconic because its held a tradition of serving its patrons a fantastic experience in all categories. I have occasionally eaten at Chez Piggy for over 40 years. I will always be a fan!

Dine in for dinner. Ordered beef tartare, famous duck leg, and crème brûlée. Beef tartare was fresh and tasty; duck leg was not as good as I expected even though many people give good comments, it is dry and insipid; both dishes were in large portions. Crème brûlée was really tasty and not too sweet. Free bread and butter for starter. Dishes are pricy.

This is my second time here. I brought my fiancé from Toronto to experience this wonderful gem. We sat outside on the Patio and dine to our hearts content. Forgot to take photos of main meals but here is dessert. My fiance had the meal of the day salmon linguine, i had beet goat cheese salad with the pea shoot ramen. Our server was attentive and kind. We will return and i promise to bring more chez piggy converts lol Bravo!!

This hidden restaurant is a gem in the city center. Walk through the small courtyard to get to this location. Choose from an extensive menu of diverse and different dishes. Everything we ate was good, although we found the beef plate to be a small portion. A different and unusual cut (the throat) that I didnt like. The atmosphere is great. Intimate and pleasant!

Late lunch on a Saturday on the patio. Inviting atmosphere , feeling of privacy quiet enough to have a conversation. The food was delicious , tuna tartar and a beet salad. Good wine selection.

We were walking when we spotted this restaurant and decided to eat there. It did not disappoint us - it was amazing. I have never been to a restaurant where the waiter noticed that my steak did not look how I ordered it, but it was delicious and did not need to be replaced. He asked me several times if I would like to have the steak cooked how I had ordered, but it was delicious. They offered a complimentary dessert and even had the chef come out to meet me and apologize. I was impressed with the food, the service, and most of all, the server Gregg. He made our night, he was funny, kept us laughing all evening, and made sure that we had an excellent evening and service at Chez Piggy. It will definitely be on my list of must-visit restaurants next time Im in Kingston.

What a gem of a place! Food, staff, atmosphere was awesome. We were traveling out east and randomly picked a place to eat and have a drink, very happy with our experience here. Our server Olivia was wonderful and super friendly even when it was pouring rain and we were on the patio not getting wet, big umbrellas and trees saved us. Great job everyone!

Made reservations days ahead. On the day of, my spouse called to advise he had some dietary restrictions (no salt, sugar, cooked in oil) and would they be able to accommodate? No! The food is already prepped. We could give you brined chicken. Brine is water, SALT, SUGAR. We cancelled the reservation. Thought we should mention so others know not to waste your time. We had eaten here before when we didn t have food issues and enjoyed.

You are a good restaurant with a great staff and plenty of atmosphere, but PLEASE PLEASE update your menu. I want to see new selections, the old ones, are well, old. By updating your menu, I mean come up with some new items. By update, I do not mean having the same menu online as in the restaurant, what I mean is changing up the options.

We visited on a quiet night. The service was great. Oysters were delicious, the duck was good. Unfortunately, the thing I was looking forward to the most, the steak, was fairly disappointing. The steak and potato were seasoned very plainly. That would have been fine if the ingredients themselves have good flavour, which they didn t. The sauce did not really help because it was thin and cold. The potato was undercooked. Because the steak was pre-cut it went cold very quickly too. Baffled by the execution of this dish. Cherry on the top was the pre-dinner bread was cold and tasted of fridge.

Had a meal for Valentines Day, they had a pre-set menu that looked good but unfortunately was not up to mark. The soup and salad were really good, but the main dish was at best Mid same as the dessert. Service was really good but for the amount of money it was for the 4-course meal it did not really hit upto the mark.

The food was delicious! The server however was less than attentive -- very aloof. That said, it was the first time we had experienced poor service at this restaurant. Hopefully it was an isolated incident. We will return nonetheless as previously occasions were always very positive.

As a local who has been to many Kingston restaurants and has previously eaten here years ago, I was wildly disappointed after visiting this evening. We had a cold and unwelcoming male server tonight upstairs who changed our dining experience. It took 25 min to take our drink order and 45 min for our food order, and when ordering we were made to feel like an inconvenience to the server. Throughout the entire meal, we were not checked on how we were enjoying our food and drinks. The food was wonderful, so hats off to the chefs! But will not be returning or suggesting to others simply based off server experience. Especially when other restaurants around the corner are providing immaculate friendly service reflective of the prices being paid. A disappointment for someone whos been here for nearly 30 years.

First time at this little gem nestled in a courtyard! Wonderful and unusual menu options which tasted as good as their presentation. Service was a little disappointing but overall and definite choice for a good meal with decent bang for your buck!

An outstanding restaurant. You would be hard-pressed to find a better burger anywhere. My only complaint is that the last time I was there, the desert special (peach-almond pie) was burnt on the bottom--a real disappointment from a place that usually has high standards.

Grabbed lunch here with a big group of people and we were all very pleased with our food! We made the fantastic choice of sharing plates so I got to try a bit of everything: *Hummus + Pita: Comes with a couple of ingredients youll find in a greek salad. It was good! *Crispy glazed duck drumettes: A tad spicy from the gochujang but wonderful flavour. It might not be a crowd pleaser but it was a pleasant surprise to me. *Cha Gio spring rolls: Amazing! If youre looking for something everyone will like, this is it. *Tom Yum Talay: Very popular, according to our server. It couldve used a bit more seafood and it was a bit spicy but this was my favourite dish I tried. *Beet, Goat, Avocado salad: Ordered this with chicken on the side. The avocado was creamy but I found the flavour of the beets to be too overpowering for my taste (but if youre a fan of beets, you might like this!) *Linguini Aglio Olio: A favourite among our table. *Summer in the city: The taste of pesto was amazing! Very tasty dish. Our server was incredible and very helpful. I would love to come back any time!

I would like to take a moment to express our experience on August 21 at your restaurant. My partners were thrilled to visit Chez Piggy for the first time to celebrate his birthday. Unfortunately, the experience from reservation to in-person was less than what we expected. The wait to be served took between 15-20 minutes long, and the foods quality and flavour were not meeting its reputation and nowhere near as good as it used to be. I ordered the iced dirty chai tea, and I was disappointed with how it tasted. The balance between the chai tea and espresso was completely off. We ordered fries, calamari, and the specials of the night. The fries were basic from presentation to flavour, and the calamari was served cold and had to be sent back for a remake. The remake tasted better, but the flavour, texture, and presentation were still basic. I questioned the quality and was told it wasnt from frozen. I think theres a need to re-evaluate the level of excellence of these dishes. Our first course was poorly executed, from presentation to flavour. I sent it back, and my partner got a Caesar salad as a replacement, which was not their favourite. Receiving a full bill without any effort made to recover our poor experience was disappointing. Though you made an effort to remove the calamari and drinks from the bill, those are basic customer service gestures in the industry. We were hoping for something above and beyond to recover from the experience. It felt like there was almost instant deflection and defensiveness every time feedback was given. As a frequent customer, I found todays experience disappointing as a whole. I hope this feedback will inspire your restaurant to find new ways to improve the current menu and better focus on customer service to go above and beyond to provide exceptional experiences for others.

Amazing!

Really disappointing experience yesterday. My Mom has a medical condition that prohibits her from eating anything beyond an incredibly restrictive diet. Yesterday, while her friend from the east coast was visiting, Mom wanted to treat her to a delicious lunch at one of the most acclaimed restaurants in Kingston. When she arrived, they were seated and Mom went to the ladies room. The server came to the table and her friend explained that Mom had brought her food due to a health condition and asked server if that was ok that she eat it at the table. The server kindly told Mom s friend that it would be no problem. Once Mom started eating her own food, another employee came over immediately and said she doesn t normally allow people to bring food in to her restaurant. She gave the impression that she was the owner. My Mom immediately stopped eating and began to take her bowl off the table, very embarrassed. Her friend, who had gotten permission from the server, was also upset and embarrassed, as she had been given the okay and felt uncomfortable. They would gladly have gone to another restaurant (of which there are many in that area), but I recommended this restaurant to them. Or they could have ordered to go and eaten together in the park. Confusingly, the person who may have been the owner said that she only allows people too bring their own food if they call ahead; but, she said she doesn t allow it at all, so I m not sure what calling ahead would have done? My Mom was incredibly embarrassed. While her friend s food was delicious, and the server was so kind (and also very embarrassed), the experience really bothered me and my Mom is already sensitive about her condition. Perhaps next time the feedback could be given to the server who told them that it was allowed as opposed to embarrassing someone like my Mom, in front of her friend and further highlighting that she is unable to enjoy the simple pleasure of eating in a beautiful patio with a friend because of her illness. Very disappointing. My Mom came to me after and was in tears because of the scene. She will not return to Chez Piggy nor recommend it because of this experience.

Dinner was great, food tasty, service top notch .. but unfortunately upstairs was extremely hot. Didn t damper our evening but was a tad uncomfortable.

Excellent food Perfect service Food

Dont get me wrong, the quality of the food was excellent. However, for the price I was expecting to leave feeling close to full. I had the lamb chops, which were cooked to perfection. There was barely a swipe of potato on the plate and veggies were scarce as well. Our servers were wonderful and looked after all of our needs. While this beautiful limestone building was gorgeous, they need to sort out the HVAC. I sat with wind blowing on me the whole time and I wasnt sitting outside! We asked our server if they could redirect the output of the air-conditioner but they were not able to do so. Needless to say, this ruined my experience and I will be reluctant to return. Oh, and the restrooms smelled like urine soaked limestone.

Have eaten here twice, once outside and once inside. Service and food was excellent both times. We will be back!

World class food in Kingston. Fantastic meal every time.

Best coleslaw ever. Went home and made it out of their cookbook. Burger was great. Back patio was lovely.

A nicer red Cab Sauve by the glass. If only 1 red drinker, hard to drink the whole bottle by yourself. Its not about price. Food is amazing, even better paired with the right wine. Well done!

One of my fav spots to eat in town and I left feeling really disappointed. We went for my sisters birthday. The service was excellent, they took great care of all our needs. I had the lamb, which was delicious however there were no sides. There was a small smear of potato and 2 kale chips. Im not kidding when I say there was enough sides for 1 or 2 full bites. The meat itself was cooked to perfection but for as much as we spent you think a nice serving of veggies would be justified. If I was being served 3 other courses, I would get it, but that was my main course and there was nothing on the plate? We also asked 2 times to have the air adjusted as it was blowing right on my dad and son at the end of the table. We were told there was nothing they could do, they were both freezing and it took away from my fathers ability to enjoy his experience. We were a large table so it wouldnt have been feasible to move us to another spot either but no solution was offered. I normally love this space but having left spending as much as we did and still feeling hungry was a huge disappointment.

Very cool patio, stuck in behind. The food delivers. The menu is fancy cool without trying too hard. Had hummus starter and mains of gnocchi and steak, both great. Would definitely recommend to try at least once.

This was the best restaurant experience that I have had in many years! I can remember coming to Chez Piggy for various family celebrations, so I thought I would pop in for dinner on October 3. I was welcomed warmly as soon as I entered the restaurant. My server was efficient and courteous. As far as the meal meant it did not disappoint. I started with a flavourful tomato based morrocan bean soup with the in-house fresh bread, followed by the rack lamb chops, which were perfectly cooked. I finished the meal with a dessert called Sweetie Pie, a key lime pie with coconut cream and candied lime. If you are ever in Kingston, Chez Piggy should be your first call!

Lovely food and atmosphere. Portions were appropriate for price. Waitress was friendly but seemed to have a lot of tables by herself, and tables seemed close together. The hostess at the entrance seemed a bit distracted, but overall, it was a good experience.

Went with my partner that day and ordered lamb chops and duck legs for main meal. The food was delicious, one of the best restaurants Ive eaten at in Kingston. It is recommended to book a table online in advance because we had to wait for an hour if we went there that day.

We luckily snuck a spot at the bar for lunch this weekend and were amazed with the two daily specials! Highly recommend!

Came here for lunch at the recommendation of our B&B host. Its located in a quaint little alley with a number of other restaurants. They appear to have outdoor seating, but the weather wasnt conducive to that today. We were very pleased with our food. We shared the spring rolls as a starter. I enjoyed the muscles as my main and my husband had the crab cakes. Thumbs up for both. Service was good, as well.

Wonderful restaurant. Food as cooked and plated beautifully. I had a delicious potato soup and gnocchi, which were exactly as advertised. The ambiance in the upper floor is wonderful and the service was prompt without ever being overbearing. Overall it did exactly what it was aiming to do.

Our hosts told us this place was famous. It was warm and friendly with staff that were tops. Water, cloth napkins, and a menu that had flavor combinations that turned out to be great. I got a steak tartar and bone marrow. I know tartar and this was exceptional for flavors and presentation. Marrow was new to me and I loved it. I got a salad with baby greens and beets and pecans and a sharp sweet dressing that also surprised me. A glass of beer was cheap and a glass of wine was too! With a good tip what I had was under $70.

Unique menu, very clean and lovely location. Great service. Touch overpriced.

Made the trip to Kingston to have our wedding anniversary at Chez Piggy and they did not disappoint. Great atmosphere and service with exceptional food. This place is a must for anyone in Kingston looking for a stand out dining experience.

This place has the best service by far!! I loved the waitress, the atmosphere, the food. everything! You should try the bread and butter they have! We ordered the spring rolls to share (the best and most original I ve tried so far!), one glass of wine and two different biers, chowder seafood (don t remember the name) and do ewe believe in magic . This was by far the plate we ordered. There was no space for desert. The bill was around $150.00 It s not s place to go d every weekend, but definitely it s worth for special celebrations.

Food is not as good as what is said. Came here because of the reputation, but the food is overly praised. The vegetables were very salty, and the steak was burnt on both sides and had to be cut off with difficulty. It was served with three asparagus and five small pieces of potatoes. The potatoes had a numb taste. The most important thing about a restaurant is the quality and taste of the food. Apart from the mediocre environment and food, this restaurant is not worth going to again.

Im surprised by the high ratings here. The server was friendly, the food was disappointing and the prices were outrageous. A main course is over $40 and the calibre of the food is not at that price point. It tasted like it was made by a home cook. I would have sent it back and asked for it to be taken off the bill but this was a replacement for the first dish that was the wrong order. Awkward. Some of the ingredients that were supposed to be in the dish my friend ordered arrived a few minutes later on a separate dish - chef forgot to include it. Unprofessional. If the prices were lower, I wouldnt have written this review but to charge fine dining prices when serving this type of food is not ok. The vibe is more Dennys than Michelin. Its a no for me. When you expect high end and pay high end prices and get this, its a terrible let down. Side note there was a table of four in the room that was so loud and obnoxious you couldnt hear the person sitting next to you. Its a room full of people trying to have a peaceful dining experience. No one wants to listen to four people talking (yelling). No manners. No regard for anyone else. Happy to disturb the entire room. Management allowed this to carry on the entire time. I should have driven around to take a look at the options. Within a couple of blocks I noticed two modern, stylish restaurants that I didnt see online when researching where to eat. (were from out of town).

Portions were ridiculously small so value for money is very low. The waitress was very nice and helpful however we waited 50 minutes for our dishes
