This used to be the best place in Kingston. I’ve discovered today that it is now under new ownership and the service was terrible. EDIT: Owner contacted me and made things right. Honored the “two for one” coupon that had no expiry, which was rudely denied on my previous visit. Had delightful service from another employee - Anjali - keep up the good work Anjali.
The first time we ordered from here it was absolutely delicious, which is why we ordered again tonight from here. Very disappointing! I ordered garlic and hummus on my wrap, didn’t get either as our order picture below states what we ordered. The wrap fell apart after one bite and it was over loaded with jalapeños. I will say the spring rolls were good again, but not hard to be consistent with deep fried items. If our order was like the first time we ordered it, we would definitely be regular customers however having no consistency not sure we will order again.
This place got one star because google doesnt allow zero stars. Stinky smelly place, very very dirty and short staffed. They have filthiest washroom and entire place smells the same as washroom. Food is so bad, i cant even begin to explain. I woke up next day with diarrhoea. Butter chicken cant be made worse than this. It tasted liked burned onions, chicken pieces were visibly burned. I am seriously amazed at how someone can make chat pappari so bad. My jaw dropped at the sight of those naans, like who serves store bought pita bread in a restaurant calling it a “naan”? If you dont have a tandoor just dont put naan on the menu. Speaking of the menu, the management is confused about what they want to sell, they sell shawarma, biryani, butter chicken, korma (on the menue, not in stock) samosa chaat, and dosa???!!! PICK A LANE for god sake, how do shawarmas and dosas relate to each other??? 100 things on menu and all of them suck big time!!! This place should be closed soon….nobody should be allowed to scam tourists like this. Ps…..these are not just my (including 5 people in my family) views, all other people eating there looked visibly unhappy, because their service also sucks as bad as their food.
Just picked up my dinner from you guys, thank you for ruining our expectation. Not enough quantity to satisfy our hunger. Even not a good quality of food. My friend didn’t even touched it after having his first bite. Food was not even 10% hot that it needs to be. Don’t request for fake reviews, be genuine. No more orders from you guys again.
Had low expectations for authentic Indian/Pakistani food in kingston. Saw this shop in downtown and ordered some beef paya with biryani today. It was exceptionally good, the masala mixture was on point and tasted great with the bread Naan.

Highly recommended for lovers of spicy and traditional cuisines. Went back again during Ramadan to open my fast. You can pray and enjoy your food. Space is enough for two person to pray at a time. Food was ok. Lamb biryani was 2.5/5 and beef biryani was 3/5. However their chicken biryani is 4.5/5.
What a lovely place. Most of our food was extremely spicy but it was still veryy delicious. They saw that it was too spicy for us and gave us two free cheesecake slices! That was so sweet of them. They were really, really nice and accommodating. Food was great, prices were decent, service was great, they had seating outside. If we're ever back in kingston, we'll pay another visit.
Kingston has very less number of authentic Indian food places and this is one of them. Being here in Kingston for a year, I thought I’ll try out Dr.Shawarma’s Indian street food like samosa chat and sev puri. All the food packed was great but I felt like there a lot of room to improve. Like I had to add some more of spicy and sweet chutneys after coming home. I guess I could’ve told them to put them there. The jalebi is great and the rose icecream falooda is a blessing for the hot summer. I also tried the Biryani here. I told them to make it spicy and it was great. The quality of rice used in the Biryani was just a delight. I feel like they’re covering a huge variety in their store and that makes them keep everything in the mid range. Overall great Indian food. I would give it 4/5 and also recommend it to people!

The food is Pani puri. The pani comes in a coffee cup. And the amount of water is too much as opposed to the amount of crackers or puri or whatever it is called. The dahi bhalla was nothing as advertised. Feels like balls of dough on yogurt with very less sauces. Never coming back

Went there on a Sunday shortly after lunch and the woman working there was incredibly rude and disrespectful to me and my fiancée however she was pleasant to everyone that came into the restaurant that had her same skin colour and similar background and I asked for mild heat and received the hottest korma I ve ever had

I ordered a shawarma in store at 10:32 and received it at 11:10. I dont blame the employee really when you have only one person working and 6 ipads taking orders you cant expect to be served efficiently. She did apologize for what its worth but my friend left for another middle eastern restaurant walked 2 blocks there and back ordered, paid, ate and had a cigarette by the time I was handed my sandwich. Never going back.

chicken and potatoes were over done/burnt. Some parts of the meat were way too tough to chew. Big portion, felt well fed. The overdone chicken and potatoes really hurt the overall experience but I can imagine a simple mistake or maybe ordered on a slower day. Worth trying.

I have ordered from this restaurant number of times and always I have received worst service. I ordered Chai and they said that It will take 15-20 mins and I went there after 30 mins and it was not ready yet and they were making it and this happend with me number of times. I mean why don t you tell this earlier that it will take this much time, then I ordered burger and fries and they said it will take 20 mins I called them after 30 mins they said they don t have fries and burger is ready, so I went there and they gave my order to someone else and said it will take 2 mins to make new burger. I just wasted my time and I was still hungry. I would never go there again.
If you had ever missed your mothers cooking or just want actual good food, I would go here. It is all fresh and you will never feel guilty regardless of how much you eat. I would recommend the shawarma wrap and the shawarma bowl.

Khushneet was amazing. The customer service was amazing, and my food was absolutely delicious. They are open late, so it s the perfect spot to go for a late night eat after the club. Honestly couldn t recommend a better place.

Uncleanliness on non professional levels, manager cannot speak proper English. With the sizes and the portions ridiculous they didn t even keep the same portion with 2 separate shawarmas on the same bill. Chicken was more loaded with everything, and beef was just disrespectful. They included their own taxes upon GST with asking for more tips. I give you one recommendation and it s go buy your own kit & skip this disgusting horribly ran business in our country Canada

One of the worst ever restaurant I have been visited. First they never answered your calls, second they never updated their real hours online. I went many times and they said they are close. Furthermore, the food quality is really poor. They don t maintain the proper hygiene. I don t know how they get permission from the health ministry.

Fantastic food, good service and wonderful people. If you go anywhere else for shawarma or kebob youre MOD the kebob platter can easily feed 4 and the chicken poutine is better than any other poutine. And you can finish it off with a kulfi and some rasmalai. 10/10 would recommend. Plan on coming back to Kingston just for them

They should advertise it as an indian/middle eastern food place as the shawarma poutine, samosas and others are very good, but shawarma is pretty average and not authentic.
Good value if you get a large platter of shawarma. Food is delicious and all the topping are fresh and you can tell. Bit slow to make the food but thats more of a process requirement for good shawarma so no complaints from me.

Delicious chiken shawarma, always freshly baked and crispy potatoes. Rice is flavourfull. Garlic paste is out this world. Staff always nice and smiling. Also very good price for the big amount of food they put on your plate. Going there every Saturday and I was never dissappinted.

Probably the best shawarma in kingston but the night staff are so rude. Go during the day and you will have the time of your life but the staff after 10pm are so extremely rude that Id know not to go again. If I go, I will leave a 25%+ tip but if I go after 10pm, I feel I should be tipped to step foot in the door and deal with the staff.

Dr. shawarma is a budget friendly place on Barrie street. Their daily specials are affordable for college students. The downside here is the waiting time per order. Staff is exceptionally friendly and courteous.

i had ordered a 3 samosa and 2 chicken biryani and the samosas are not completely cooked and the biryani was not fresh and had debris in it and it feels like the old stuff. And there was no utensils on it. overall i had a pretty bad experience. please provide proper training to your staff.
The food here was great and the staff were very friendly!! Kept hearing good things about this place so had to go. Got the Tuesday daily special (chicken shawarma wrap, fries, and pop for $10.99), and they were even nice enough to swap the fries for the garlic potatoes! 100% worth it - I will definitely be going again.
If you are craving South Indian food in Kingston, go to Brampton. I had an extra well done, extra crispy masala dosa with aloo sabzi as stuffing along with sambhar without the sambhar masala. The frozen chutney was either mint or coconut. The service was swift and it only took 45 mins for 2 items, although I was told while ordering that it would take 30 mins, so essentially it only took 15 mins. We also ordered rajma Chawla which seemed to have the sambhar masala that was missing in the sambhar. So all in all we got all the ingredients we ordered.

Poor service, staff seemed to be more interested in their phones and delivery orders rather than walkins, food was dry and took way too long to make (20 mins for 2 schwarma), horribly renovated and peiced together. 1 star is too much.avoid at all costs.
The shawarma is almost sickening. the chicken is burnt. the service is unprofessional. serving sizes are frugal and the workers are stingy and clearly do not care about the wellness of the customers. my drink was taken from me. I was told that I can take any drink out of the fridge however the worker came and took my drink that I paid for. this is disgusting, inside and out. I tried to give this place a chance however I just want to share my experience. dont try it for yourself. trust my review. My friend feels so sick from the food shes immobile. The vegetables were the furthest thing from fresh, the lettuce was almost sour. I wish you luck entering this restaurant. Go pay an extra 2 dollars or so for some quality shawarma across the street....or anything else. I rather have starved.

Unassuming hole in the wall with great food. Its menu is diverse, they offer curries, biryanis, shawarma, dosas, Indian sweets, and more. My husband and I have been to other more expensive Indian restaurants in Kingston where they dull the flavours down to suit a more westernized palate. The food at Dr Shawarma is flavourful, packs a punch, and tastes authentic. We had the lamb curry and the chicken masala on rice. Both dishes were on the spicier side just the way we like it. We ll be coming back and trying more of the menu for sure. The restaurant itself has limited seating, so you may have to grab your food to go.

I dont know what to say! Places like Dr. Shawarma should stop bastardizing and ruining shawarma. What they sell is not Shawarma lol. Putting meat on revolving stick doesnt make it shawarma. Shawarma is an art of cutting meat into thin and crisp layers. Cutting the meat into thick pieces and then cooking the meat on the grill is NOT Shawarma. Also, why the food is so salty? Are you hiding the fact the meat is not fresh? Edit: Im so sorry that Canadian public health regulations did you dirty like that! Now I understand why shawarma is the way it is here in Canada!

Ordered masala dosa. Sambar were stale and to top it all, were put in the take away box plain cold. Once I tried them after reheating , they smell like rotten dish. I am pretty sure they have it cooked and reheat for days !
