A PLACE TO PLAN, TO MEET, TO MINGLE HEIST offers its clientele a chance to ‘steal the moment’ of fun within its beautifully designed setting. HEIST is a gathering spot to celebrate a friendship, promotion or landmark birthday, grab a quick drink or have a celebratory meal with a great bottle of wine. HEIST offers Italian-inspired modern fare, seafood and elevated classics. The menu features an impressive, carefully curated wine collection. A seasonal patio is available for al fresco dining.
We’ve been here a few different times since it’s opened for special occasions. It’s a nice restaurant with different seating spaces and is historically a bank building (hence the creative menu categories). The service here is very good and we’ve always had a great time.
Wow. Love the food here - I got the Rigatoni Alla Vodka which was incredible and finished off with the chocolate mousse for dessert (also incredible). The Heist has a great atmosphere, with a cool layout and a great team of staff (shoutout to our server Zoe who was amazing)
I am the Head bartender at the Drake Devonshire in PEC and decided to pop into heist alone after picking up some product in Kingston for our restaurant. Let me tell you everything from the service to the food to the atmosphere was absolutely OUTSTANDING!!! The oysters and Carpaccio were very flavourful, striploin nice and crisp but cooked perfectly on the inside. The Rigatoni on the other hand was most likely the best pasta I have ever had! Jack behind the bar was also awesome and gave great recommendations, the girl he was training also seemed lovely and very personable. Thank you Jack for an amazing dinner and evening! I will be back
Had the BBQ swordfish ($42). The flavors from the spices and the sauce were very nice but the fish itself was over cooked and dry. Heist has a nice modern decor if you are standing in front of the bar. Besides the large circular booths in the window that seat parties of 6-10, walk-ins are relegated to seating around the corner in the dark along the back wall in front of the kitchen doors. There are no windows, glass walls or stunning bars to enjoy here. Even the hostess felt sheepish seating people there. All you see from this angle is staff rotate in and out. In essence, they’re seating people in a dark dungeon after they built this beautiful space, which is only enjoyed when walking past it to be seated, or from outside. They don’t filter their tap water for a glass of water at the table. (Kingston has some of the dirtiest most toxic tap water in the province. Filtering is not an option). Having to order flat bottled water in a restaurant of this caliber is pretty third world.
To sum it up in 1 word: “IMPRESSED!” We had a great experience at Heist. RESERVATIONS: CONVENIENT! We were able to reserve a table online which is always a major bonus. FOOD: DELICIOUS! High quality and worth the cost. Expect to pay mid-to-higher prices. However there’s something on the menu for everyone; from expensive fare to more budget-friendly eats (such as pizzas and appetizers). Portion size was good. SERVICE: EXCELLENT! Our server was incredibly attentive. AMBIANCE: BEAUTIFUL! Gorgeous, well kept, and very clean. The seating was comfortable and tables were spaced out far enough to feel like you didn’t have to sit on some strangers lap to get in and out of your table. Lately you go to a restaurant and the tables are so close together you feel like you’re eating at Sunday Dinner with your extended family and you have to hear all the details of everyone’s life. Heist does a good job making sure you don’t feel like you’re on a speed-dating rotation with strangers while you’re trying to enjoy the company you came with. Will definitely be back. 10/10 would recommend!
Came here for an anniversary with my partner to celebrate and the atmosphere is super chic and cute, very lush and romantic at the same time. We were in town for a weekend getaway and was recommended to check out Heist to celebrate our anniversary so my partner booked ahead in advance. We loved the wine menu selection and opted for a bottle. The service was impeccable and when we ordered our pizzas we were told the oven may not be working but it turns out it was. Unfortunately the oven I think was not at the right temperature to cook the crust as it was extremely floppy and difficult to eat, we love thin crust gourmet pizza but this was the poorest quality of dough we’ve ever had. The chicken on my partners pizza also tasted like shredded canned chicken and we weren’t going to say anything because we did eat our pizzas fully but I think an establishment always benefits from full transparency from customers especially ones who are celebrating an anniversary. The manager was so kind and apologetic that the pizzas were on the house and we ended up just getting two desserts to finish up the night. I’d like to return one day and try other items on the menu but perhaps avoid the pizza for now until the dough or oven temperature has been fixed. Highly commend the service!
Odd evening. EXTREMELY SLOW pace from the kitchen! 30-40 minutes between courses. Not that busy to warrant that. Started at the bar with oysters & bubbles. New menu was mentioned several times. Staff obviously was not given proper training on it. Couldn't answer basic questions. ( What are tonight's oysters, is the lamb a chop or a leg etc... - odd. ) Odd running commentary about being able to " handle" a single person walk-in. There was a three top & 2 of us... We felt so weird we actually moved to a table for possibly better service. Cadence was lovely! ( A small mercy.. ) But kitchen needs to work on their timing & who I can only assume was a manager needs to work on his words. ( Telling us they ran out of bread & a won't be baking anymore just for us as it's a Sunday.. then coming back 5 min. later only to have " found some bread " - odd. ) In all fairness the place is gorgeous. The oysters, bubbles, wine selection, Caesar salad, pizza & dessert were good! My main was a dud but they did comp it.. so credit due.. . Maybe a team meeting and better leadership will improve things.
Heist Restaurant in Kingston always impresses me with their incredible food! The atmosphere is just right for a night out with friends or a special date. While the service might not always be top-notch, it's the delicious food and vibrant vibe that keeps me coming back. I'd give Heist Restaurant 4 out of 5 stars for its consistently exceptional food and great atmosphere!
Disappointed and leaving a message for the owner. I cant have gluten and had called ahead to discuss which items I could have. I was told the polenta cake was gluten-free. I also ordered a pasta with gluten-free pasta. When they arrived, the polenta cake had not gluten free written on it, and the $29 pasta portion was tiny with no cheese. UPDATE: Response from the restaurant shows they dont understand food allergies and that they can make people sick giving them the wrong information, or that the pasta portion was small and there was no cheese, not that there were package concerns.
Visited Saturday 26/10. Loved the decor and small table lamps ... very cozy. The food was great and our server was outstanding at her job. (She really made the experience enjoyable).
Pleasant location but with prices absolutely exaggerated compared to the Italian concept. If you want to spend a pleasant evening with friends it is the ideal place.
We had the wine experience with our food and it was extremely delicious. Such a nice place with amazing service!
Delightful evening out with family. Excellent food and wonderful service. Hunters chicken a hit along with the striploin.
Arrived during the lunch hour. There was no one at the door, no one at the bar, no one seated. We stood there for a couple of minutes and no one came. We finally wandered though the restaurant and found a table of people having lunch. The hostess found us there and seated us. It took about 15 minutes to get our water. More people were brought in and, in a completely empty huge restaurant, sat right beside us. Food was mediocre. Truthfully, Ive enjoyed frozen pizza more than I enjoyed my funghi pizza (which had about 6 mushrooms on it). I asked for a box to take my remaining pizza home. The server gathered up all.our dishes, including my pizza, put my friends dirty cutlery on my plate and returned with my pizza in a box. I have to wonder what else was stacked on top on my pizza before I got it back. After thinking about it, I simply cannot bring myself to eat the rest of the pizza. So, I paid $25 for half a pretty sad pizza. Id rather go to Score. This was my second time at Heist. I returned because it is a really beautifully spot. The place is simple but elegant and because of the way it is laid out, it is quiet and a great place for a chat with a friend. But, after today, I dont think Ill be back.
Went for my graduation celebration dinner and it was a fantastic choice. The food tasted great and there was lots of options for everyone, including gluten free and vegetarian. The service was great, our waitress was very attentive, always keeping our water full and answering any questions we had about the menu while we were deciding. My only complaint is that the back dining room we were seated in got quite loud and it could be difficult to hear the person even sitting across from you. I could imagine this could be quite troublesome for any parties bigger than four people. Overall, would defiantly go back again to have the chance to try more of the menu. Dietary restrictions: All pastas except for the gnocchi can be substituted for gluten free for an additional $2
10/10 food was delicious. Very recommend
The staff is extremely rude to the uber drivers ,treat us like beggers. We are the one who fill people s belly but attitude like this really hurts never gonna pick any orders from here in future
Insanely great! Thank you.
Great food and attentive service. We felt very comfortable. Recommended
I came to Heist for my 20th birthday, excited to celebrate with my close friends. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the start. Our server was extremely rude and unwelcoming, which set a negative tone. We tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, thinking maybe she was having a bad day, but her attitude remained hostile. She slammed plates on the table and responded with snappy comebacks to simple questions about the menu. At one point, when my friend asked if a takeout box was hers, the server snatched it from her hand and gave it to the correct person, which felt unnecessarily aggressive. The food tasted great but arrived cold, and my pasta was undercooked. Its a shame because the atmosphere is beautiful, and the place has so much potential, but the service and food quality made us feel like burdens, and very unwelcomed.
Very expensive and food was not great. Hard to find anything for someone who is trying to eat healthy Dietary restrictions: Very limited
Four of us visited Heist on a busy Friday night of the Labour Day Weekend. Our waitress, Hannah Streng was attentive, pleasant and knowledgeable. She made the entire experience memorable. The food was fantastic and the timing was spot on. If we could give this place 10 stars we would. We will definitely be back. Well done Hannah! To the person who gave this place two stars, you appear to be the only one that can t find anything good to say. That should tell folks a lot right there. lol.
Wonderful evening with a lot of flavors.
We had a great dinner with Andrew making our evening complete ! Very pleased with the service and the food !
Beautiful decor and ambiance. Drink menu is extensive (although I would have loved a frozen drink option as it was so hot out). Patio is in a nice spot for people watching. The Arancini was impeccable, I wanted more. Steak was cooked beautifully as requested, and side vegetables were al Dante and perfect. My dinner companion had the artichoke pizza and enjoyed it. Table tops in bar area were quite small, it would be nice to have somewhere to put your purse. Wonderful experience and a must visit date spot.
Amazing ambiance, cocktails and menu! A great place to celebrate or enjoy a nice night out with friends or a date. The mushroom bruschetta was amazing and the fresh summer tomato salad. The cocktail list was extensive and fun ! Food
Wonderful restaurant
Zoe was a great server!
Beautiful restaurant, delicious food, good service!
great service, loved the oysters
Part of a group meal of 30 people. The service was fantastic, especially with the numbers of guests and food was excellent and well seasoned. I had arctic char. Delish
A total gem in the heart of Kingston. Service, atmosphere, food was wonderful! Vegetarian options: Gluten free options Food : 4/5 |
Nothing to complain. Good restaurant and vibe.
Food and service was amazing definitely recommend!!
Really great experience. Accommodating of seating requests and food was absolutely incredible. The concept and ambiance is exquisite, we sat in the third room not sure what it s called. General manager was so nice and engaging. Return often, has become my reoccurring spot
There were so many delicious options to choose from that we ordered six things off the menu and shared. Everything was delicious. Service was very good. Cannot wait to go back.
Typically we celebrate our special occasions at The Keg BUT, I decided to surprise my husband and reserved us a table at Heist for his 39th Birthday. We got dressed up and set out to celebrate! Upon arriving we were promptly greeted, but quickly disappointed as we were seated directly inside the door at a booth that gave McDonalds vibes and had constant entry/exit traffic... not quite the special romantic evening I had in mind! The waiter was nice, though he was not knowledgeable about the menu options when we asked questions (had to ask someone and let us know), nor did he offer up any specials or suggestions (like The Keg does) especially when we explained this was our first visit to Heist. The signature (overpriced) drinks were tiny but good... enjoyed the creative names. We ordered the cesar salad to start, but regretted it the rest of the evening... not sure what dressing they use, but it did not agree with our digestive systems. Its also the first time Ive seen corn in a cesar salad? For our main course we chose the striploin steaks with an extra side of mushrooms. At $60 each, our expectations were high. Unfortunately, after waiting 45minutes for our meal to be served we were VERY unhappy... the 12oz was equal parts 6oz of meat & 6oz of FAT -- yuck! Im not even sure why they would serve it? It should have been thrown out. The mushroom side was forgotten, so arrived late (they did give this for free to rectify) but was tasteful, as were the regular plated compliments (vegetables & smashed potato). To top off our experience (not the restaurants fault of course -- but apparently something you should be aware of for the area) - while eatting, a homeless man came up and relieved himself outside our window! It was at this point we decided to opt out of reviewing the dessert menu and put an end to our celebration. I felt like bursting out crying... what was meant to be a special night for my husband at a cool new restaurant turned out to be a completely unbelievable expensive, disaster. Kudos to the waiter who did try to redeem our experience by bringing a complimentary Happy Birthday cannoli with our bill... The only reason I am giving 2 stars instead of 1. (Side note -- we were also surprised the interior design didnt resemble a bank as the name suggests?) Sorry, we will not return!
This is the third time we have been to this restaurant. Terrific atmosphere, usually excellent service, except for last night. We were out with another couple for a beer and pizza night. Three of us were okay with our pizza, my wifes pizza was very burnt on the bottom this was pointed out to the waitress, it was met with profuse apologies as she cleared the table. Making an obviously poor assumption that the restaurant would make it right we didnt make a scene and do the I want the manager rant. The bills came and there was no reduction in the price of her pizza, again we had assumed it would at least be discounted or an offer of a follow up meal. Oh well, they got their money I guess thats all that matters Will consider other options before returning there. Edit: I was contacted by the restaurant shortly after the review went live. Full credit to them for the contact. Invite back for a do over on them. Greatly appreciated, nice to see a business with character.
Kaya was absolutely wonderful during our dinner service. She was kind and made us being comfortable and welcomed the entire time. I would absolutely recommend to go to heist and ask for Kaya. She will make your day! Thankyou Kaya and Jessi for wonderful experience. Food
Outstanding meal, excellent service and a stunning decor mixing modern elements with exposed limestone walls of old. Will definitely return.
Heist was an absolutely terrific restaurant. First it s in a great location in a great city! But the atmosphere, service and food were all terrific as well, as was the wine list. Would highly, highly recommend it!
The ambience was good but the service was too slow. We waited for around 30 mins for our mains. The menu is overpriced in my opinion - should be worth at least ~20% less.
Absolutely gorgeous restaurant that put a lot of attention to detail into creating a luxurious atmosphere. This place has the reputation of being extremely expensive, but I was honestly surprised at the affordability of the menu items. The server seemed indifferent and somewhat rude to customers, but they did a good job at keeping glasses full. The steak was overcooked, but overall the food was tasteful.
Best Caesar salad we ve ever had; each dish we had was amazing as well. Unique pizza choices.
Very good taste, presentation, and service. Excellent drink menu.
Kid-friendliness: Very chic venue yet they are kid friendly Food
Been here twice. First time had spoiled oysters that werent even comped, they offered replacement oysters but wouldve rather had it comped instead since we were no longer in the mood for more oysters. Rest of the meal was good. Second time went for just drinks at the bar, a better experience though the mood was a little empty and flat. Bartenders were good and knew their drinks though. I think the place needs to improve their atmosphere and overall customer service.
PERFECT RESTAURANT
The food was absolutely delicious, however, given the price of the meals I didnt expect to sit in such close proximity to other people. It really ruined the experience of our date night (which dont happen very often). I really expected something much more intimate.
Lovely atmosphere and great service. The calamari and rigatoni were delicious, but I found the pizza to be extremely salty Food : 4/5
We had dinner Jan 21 for Kingstalicious. We opted to sit at a high top table in the bar. The gentleman that was the bartender took care of us and he was excellent. Thank you
Sat at the bar and got the best service! Eli, Kaya, Oleks made my birthday extra special. Delicious cocktail recommendations, amazing product knowledge and great with conversation. The food, drinks and atmosphere is so chic but will be back because of this crew.
Absolutely wonderful, delicious food, beautiful atmosphere, and great service. A delight. Vegetarian options: The best eggplant I have ever had
HEIST my experience was definitely a heist to my wallet! Great service from the waiter, the young bloke was friendly and professional, helpful on beverage selection and great to have conversation. Severely disappointed with my meal, both entree and main. Both dishes were mediocre and way overcooked, even though I ordered them medium rare both dishes were harder than hockey pucks! For the main I asked for lobster tail as an extra which was about twice the size of a prawn, definitely not worth $25! Overall experience was not worth half the price I paid overall and will not be returning.
Ive been to Heist 3 or 4 times now and had a great meal each time. The place is beautiful top to bottom and if you hunt around the menu a bit the prices arent bad at all. Also a huge perk that there is the massive parking garage right next door.
I had the most incredible experience here thanks to my server, Kadence. She was so sweet and patient with us as it took us a long time to decide because everything on the menu looked so delicious! She was very friendly and recommended some awesome cocktails. I loved the Creme Brûlée for dessert! I can t wait to come back here soon and overall would recommend the restaurant to a friend.
Great service and great food, loved the taco!
Unbelievable! Walked in nit sure what to expect. The atmosphere was amazing, the service was second to none, and the food. My goodness! I had the 6oz steak and my wife have the gnocchi, and we both were in disbelief. Even the Caesar salad to start is unique and delicious. Special thanks to Kadance for serving us this evening. You were so cheery and just made the experience for us! Great recommendations! 10/10 place to go. Will definitely be back!
Very expensive Experience Food
Absolutely lovely place! They have decorated very nice for the holidays, the restaurant is much more than good food it is a whole experience! The menu is ever changing and delicious. My server Kadance was beyond exceptional, she was courteous, polite and very helpful with recommendations. She made me and my partner feel very comfortable and welcomed. Kadance was very accommodating to requests/ dietary needs and went above and beyond. Amazing place, well worth the money. Book ahead & Request Kadance if you can!
it s great, people beside us were yelling but it was great food. pricey.
Had the loveliest New Years Eve dinner for two at Heist. After each bite and sip, my boyfriend and I couldnt help comment how delicious it all was. We shared three dishes: the Caesar salad (the corn and spices took an ordinary dish and leveled it up), meat lovers pizza, and the feature special which was a squid ink pasta with lobster bisque. The food was sooo good, only rivaled by the absolute perfection of the cocktails. We had the Red Diamond and the sweet bourbon cocktail, the name is escaping me right now, but both were excellent.
I would literally commit a robbery to eat here again! Fantastic food, nice drinks and great staff!
3rd time here. I like the menu options. Decor is beautiful. One of the nicwr restaurants in Kingston
Great food. Just a little expensive. Parking: Multi story parking beside the restaurant. Food : 5/5 |
Husband took me for our anniversary. Food was excellent, serviceis outstanding! It was not too busy. Very calming atmosphere. Love it! We will definitely be back.
We dined here a couple weeks ago. We shared a couple appetizers and a main dish. Everything was very salty (with the exception of the carpaccio which was just ok). We wanted to try a couple different wines by the glass and found the selection to be very limited for a restaurant that includes a wine club. We were both disappointed overall.
This is a great new restaurant with a very welcoming atmosphere. When I went they had only been open for a week but they seemed to have the food and service down pact. The seafood I ordered was delicious and I would definitely order it again. I am seeing some reviews that seem very critical but that was not my experience at all. I plan on going back and will certainly ask about their event space for future use. Kid-friendliness: They had a high chair for our table since we had a baby with us.
The pizza was delicious and comparable to Woodenheads. Our server was excellent. We were seated on tall chairs which I normally don t like but they were very comfortable for my derrière and short legs!
Go for the seafood. Steak and scallops are fantastic!
Had dinner at the Bar with Grant Bobby and Olex wonderful service and attention to details. Had the oysters and Filet. Cooked to perfection with wonderful potatoes and veggies. Quality food with quality service. Wonderful decor and attention to details. For a new start up well staffed and well trained.
Good food, great service. Tastefully put together menu won t disappoint. Good wine list.
Went for a date night and had a lovely experience. Our server was kind and attentive and the same can be said for each staff member we interacted with. For drinks we each had a cocktail to start and later had their take on an espresso martini to finish with dessert. They were all well made and the garnishes looked fantastic. To start we shared the carpaccio; beautifully presented and great quantity, but felt a bit light flavour wise. For entrees we had the 8oz tenderloin with lobster tail, chicken parmesan, and fries to split. The steak was cooked beautifully! Could probably have cut it with a butter knife, and the jus was amazing. Lobster tail was good but could have used maybe a side of melted butter to dip or pour over depending on guests tastes and a seafood fork would have been appreciated to make it easier to enjoy. Chicken parmesan was equally delicious and the portioning was quite generous. Pasta was well done and paired well with the dish. Fries were good, not much to say but definitely no complaints. For dessert we had the banana toffee pudding and the tiramisu. Fantastic texture and tastes for both that paired well with our drinks. We moved from our table to the bar to enjoy them and had a lovely chat with the bar team. Service was fantastic, the venue is beautiful, and the food and drinks were very well done. Would definitely recommend for a date night or celebration, or even coming by for dessert at the bar.
Made a reservation, we asked to change seats to front room and they were very accommodating. Service was exemplary; fast, friendly, professional; among the best in the city. Wine selection was fairly limited for a wine club. No beers on tap, only canned beer like bud and bud light, which is really unfortunate. Had bruschetta as appetizer, it was different, they had a sort of white sauce, but it was very tasty. The bread was grilled perfectly. I had roasted chicken and veg. The chicken was cooked perfectly, very moist with a nice crispy roasted outer, and was seasoned well. The veg was a little over salted, and a touch burned. Food overall was quite good, just falls a bit short of what I would expect at their price points. All in all, this is a good restaurant. The location is beautiful, with a nice clean, modern vibe. It needs to fix the small problems with the food, and/or adjust the pricing down a bit to match the level of execution. It would be suitable for couples special occasions, or a more formal business dinner.
This is a nice new place in Kingston. We wanted to check it out but found the food to be totally underwhelming. Our cocktails had many of the wrong ingredients (thyme replaced rosemary!) and the food was nothing that we could not make better at home. The decor is nice if unfinished (still no pictures on the wall) and the staff were friendly. We are going to try it out one more time in a month in the hope that the food and drink improves.
It was the best food Ive had in a long time, and the restaurant is so warm and inviting. Ill definitely go back.
Really impressed with everthing we got. The cocktials were amazing and the service was great. Only complaint is being charged 8 bucks for a bottle of sparkling water.
Decent experience however if you ve eaten at similar Italian style restaurants in bigger cities you may find yourself disappointed. Some dishes needed a little more and some a little less. Eg serving some bread with the mussels to enjoy the delicious sauce, but maybe taking the toppings on beef carpaccio down a notch (quail egg, mustard seeds, shallots leaving little space to enjoy the taste of the beef). As well tables are very close together and with loud music you can hear your neighbours entire conversations. At a whopping $17 for a small Negroni I m won t running back to Heist soon.
I wanted to love Heist, perhaps they need more time to work out the kinks? The Mushroom Risotto and Scallops were really good! Our server was also very friendly and attentive. The issues are: 1. Sight lines - when opening a $$$ restaurant it is important that your guests are not seated where they can see your printer, fax machine, staff water bottles, and even staff getting changed. This area should be covered with a curtain or tables should not be sat directly in front of this make shift change room, very odd for a fine-dining restaurant. 2. Cocktails - if these are going to be at a ~$20 price point, consistency is key. We had the same cocktail ordered 3 times at our table and it came out looking and tasting vastly different each time. 3. Food quality has to match the price point. We had two very good dishes, most were simply OK and the Orecchiette pasta was inedible.
Great experience at HEIST Restaurant! The ambiance is very welcoming, the staff are extremely knowledgeable, the food was delicious and the wine list is fantastic. I would highly recommend and can t wait to come back again!
Horrible dining experience from entering the door to finishing dinner. Covered our drinks and asked us to try them again though the service is below par of an average restaurant- though the prices are much higher. It lacks a highly defined staff character, there is a decor vibe but the staffing from the front door staff to the leadership on site is not top notch and tons of etiquette and serving training are required to bring value to the cost and experience, price is not the issue. Staff didn t know the menu or drinks and didn t know how to lead an evening with suggestions or timings for meals etc, this is something simple and shows thought, importance, and care to the customer. Customers won t feel special when you don t know its an anniversary cause you didn t actually read the booking, and fail to engage in conversation the entire night. Grant was the only person all night to introduce himself at the bar and held all these professional qualities that an establishment such as yours should desire in all staff. If it was my restaurant and my customer was dissatisfied with the entire evening, I would either cover the meal and ask them to come back to try it again or offer a second visit on the house so they can see your true quality. The idea of spend a couple hundred dollars again to see if your business s improved shouldn t be my responsibility and definitely won t lead to me recommending you. Colin
We had a lovely dinner here with exceptional service and great food. Started with a blueberry tea & negroni (so tasty), along with the duck confit taco which was spicy and delicious but the duck got lost in the other flavours. Very tasty nonetheless. Also had the tuna tartare with whipped avocado and Peruvian peppers which are the tiniest most delicious bursts of flavour, but not enough to save the dish from being bland. Sauvignon Blanc was good with the fungi pizza, which was insanely flavourful. Brilliant. Flourless chocolate cake was good, but kitchen had gotten busy by then and took a while to get out. Server was excellent and answered all questions as needed. I will definitely go back and try again.
This was our second time at Heist and we cannot speak more highly - the vibe, the ambiance, the seafood, the service - impeccable Some of the freshest oysters weve had in the city. My husband and I are bigtime foodies, and this dining experience continues to impress. Our new favourite spot. Well see you again soon!
80% of the food our table ordered was very good. Two dishes were a bit bland. Overall, I found the price high for the product. In terms of atmosphere, we were seated in the back dining room, which is very under decorated compared to the rest of the restaurant; blank, white walls and very little decor, so the experience was different than anticipated.
I wanted to love you and give you 5 of the biggest stars ever! The ambience is warm and inviting and I love that youve created smaller and more intimate dining spaces. The service from the moment we entered was incredible and your staff is to be commended for their attention to detail and customer engagement. The wine list is also extensive and has many brilliant choices. But you lost me on the food. I started with the ahi tuna which was fine but not as good as Ive had elsewhere. The big disappointment was the stuffed portobello mushroom. It was overcooked, bland and the accompanying veg was mediocre at best. The chocolate gelato was fantastic however. I really hope you work out the issues in the kitchen because you have an amazing establishment that I want to enjoy over and over!
Underwhelming. I wish i could say i really liked something about this restaurant. At best it was average. The rooms that we walked through to get to our table looked nice, but our space was bland and empty. Not much thought about the decor. Drinks were poor. I tried one with grapefruit. Certainly not a taste of actual fresh grapefruit to be had. Then ordered the mojito. Didn t muddle the mint and used fake/realime juice. Again, not fresh lime juice or lime. It was bad. My appetizer was three small scallops that were under-cooked and bordering on cold. My wife s calamari was good. My main was a steak.. average. I ve had far better in the city. The side was obviously an afterthought, just a few vegetables thrown on with something I ll say was off amongst them. Ordered the chocolate torte for dessert and was served a lava cake. It was unexpected. It had a weird texture and was not as flavorful as one would hope to end off a meal. Maybe they had an off night. In the end, we spent well over $300 on two appetizers, two mains, two drinks, and a shared dessert and left not having really enjoyed any single aspect of the experience. No wow at all.
Great urban restaurant experience
Over priced, small portions, lacked flavour other than salt. Limited menu.
Great food and very attentive service! Will be back
Dined out February 2nd for a special occasion as a group of 3. Ambience: Sat in a further back dining room. Decor was nice and we have no complaints from where we were personally seated. Food: Leaves more to be desired. Members of the party who ordered pasta were unsatisfied with the quality/likened it to a chain restaurant. Pizza was good but I was surprised to see so much of it on a menu at this price point. Drinks: Initial cocktails were good. Additional cocktails were not consistent. Price point was far too high for inconsistent cocktails. Beer was not available at the time - unsure if this has changed. Overall I dont think we will be returning for a while. Will try again in a year or so.
A new restraunt in Kingston that brings fine dining to a new setting! HEIST has been all the hype recently and so for my birthday I had to try it out. The atmosphere was gorgeous, it felt very fancy and was very quiet for being so close to Princess and Brock Street. It was also interesting that each room had a slightly different vibe but continued the spy theme throughout. The staff was quick and attentive. Overall the food was quiet good, the had a lot of seafood options and a bit for everyone. I would recommend reading their menu carefully and asking about dietary restrictions as we did not expect the arancini to have bacon on top. The cocktail are fun in name and beautiful, they also have multiple mocktail options. Overall, the price was comparable to the Everly and it was a lovely going out location.
Looks beautiful. But is a very basic menu. Once again I could get all this menu items at other restaurants and they would have nailed it. Im so disappointed in this place. They are trying to be high end but its just embarrassing. Being European , many of these menu items we had did not taste how they should. They were bland. Lacking in a variety of flavors. Wont be back.
Great food and great service! Nicely decorated. We had a great experience!
We just celebrated our 3 year anniversary at Heist and our server Anne was excellent! Very attentive to our table, food was (chefs kiss), everything was excellent. We even had a little special dessert brought to our table. We will definitely be coming back soon!
Overall a lovely dining experience in Kingston. We ordered the margherita pizza, dozen oysters, Lamb and crushed potatoes. The oysters were extremely good and fresh, while the rest of the food was just okay, and did not stand out too much. My one complaint is that the service we experienced was extremely slow. We received the oysters after 15 minutes, and then the rest of the food after 1 hour. Other tables that sat down after us, received their food and bills before us, and our server did not seem to care about us. That was the ultimate downfall that ruined the date.
Every element of our experience was a 5 success. The warm greeting, the beautiful ambiance, the professional service + banter by Anne, the check ins by management, the exquisite drinks + food... there was very little room for improvement from my perspective. However, a few more plant-based options would be amazing, based on the deliciousness of the few offered. Great work Heist .
Highly recommend, excellent menu, outstanding service, good value! Grant made us feel very welcome, exceptional levels of service throughout the evening!
A group of 8 people, enjoyed the greeting, the service, the ambience and the food a great deal. Just a suggestion be more gentle using salt in some of the appetizers and mains, definitely recommended place.
It s a spectacular building inside and out. They ve set up a private club room for their wine club - and a variety of seating spaces - booths with lots of windows or skylights. The bar has a great vibe. Vegetarian options: Amazingly good veggies and side dishes abound here highly recommend!
Heist was incredible. We got the scallops which were seared to perfection, and tuna tartare is always one of my favourites. My sister and I had such a great time! Really a phenomenal spot!
Overpriced, terrible food and poor service. Shockingly horrible on all fronts.
I ve never considered spending energy on writing a review but my experience at this restaurant was awful. The staff was horrible, they were awkward and made everyone at the table deeply uncomfortable (the waitress smelled like fish), not to mention the overpriced food that was mediocre at best, I ve had microwave dinners better than the food here.
great food, great atmosphere! I would definitely go back next time Im In Kingston
No air conditioning, was perspiring profusely!
Its a pity that I can only give 5 stars. Its worth going to Kingston at least just for this restaurant!!! All three different dishes: two pastas and a pizza, are incredibly delicious. Super friendly staff, very stylish interior inside. Thank you.
The gnocchi was truly life changing! Hands down the best in Kingston!
Wish I could give 10 stars for atmosphere. The space is designed beautifully.
so much went into this place but they missed the mark entirely, i dont know why but the menu is the same as everywhere else across the city just poorly executed very limited wine list for a wine club
Great new restaurant. Located in an old bank downtown they have 3 dining rooms and a fun bar. Atmosphere is relaxed. Food was supper yummy and fun cocktails. The vodka pasta was delish!
Fantastic dining experience. Comfortable atmosphere with friendly and attentive staff. The food was top notch in terms of quality, taste and presentation. Appetizers included Scallops and Heist Bruschetta. Main course was wild mushroom risotto and steak.
The atmosphere here is super intimate and different for Kingston. The menu also has many great options for being so upscale. You don t feel rushed through and service is impeccable. I would definitely return.
The menu looked intriguing, Italian, with a sense of humour, given the former bank location (The Heist, The Plan, The Getway, etc). As a seafood lover, the Seafood Spaghettini did not disappoint. The wait staff were attentive but not overly foppish. The restaurant was full (and loud) on arrival (7pm) but seemed to level out. My husband found the pizza Ragu sauce a bit under seasoned, but manager was very receptive of the feedback. We will definitely return.
Great experience! Superb food quality and service. The ambient is really nice and the prices are reasonable. Menu has a decent amount of options to choose from. Recommend it! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free and vegan option
Food was great, excellent wine selection, and a beautiful space. Service was incredibly slow tho (they apologized but would have expected complementary desert or something) and booths are oval shaped so the servers kept having to lean over everyone to serve the head of the table.
We were here a week or so ago, and the whole experience was top-notch, in every way across the board in the dining room. So this evg, we decided perhaps a drink on the patio would be nice .. waiter was very rude, abrupt and inexperienced, out of his league in any restaurant.. with my coffee, he brought one sweetener, no raw or brown sugar, as asked, my side of Baileys in a creamer container.. when I asked for proper alternatives albeit expected service, he was even more abrupt and curt - more interested in fratinizing with 2 female guests, it appeared. A totally distasteful experience overall. I didnt eat or drink most that was served, out of sheer disgust. Management did absolve us from the bill and apologized.. the moment was ruined by then.
Great date night spot! Service and atmosphere was great and the food was fantastic. Everything we tried was delicious but the veal medallions were one of these best entrees I ve had in Kingston.
Excellent unique restaurant. Definitely adding it to one of my favourites
Inviting atmosphere friendly staff excellent food.
The service was very very bad. And I am being kind. Food was hit and miss. They ve priced them like a high end restaurant, but their service certainly did not match.
In a single word, Excelent !! Great quality food, prepared with an attention to detail. Staff was friendly and helpful. Also a very good wine selection. Highly recommended!
Very chic atmosphere. The staff were fabulous. They made sure your meal was exactly as desired. Higher end prices but atmosphere, service and food were up to par. Were accommodating to food allergies.
Great fooand comarès!
Food was fantastic and our server Grace was exceptional. Will be back! Food : 5/5
Service fantastic, food exceptional.
The food and atmosphere were great! We had oysters, buratta salad, I got the salmon and my partner got seafood pasta. No complaints about the food it was very good. My only complaint was that we felt very rushed and uncomfortable with the service. Managers creeping around, tried to take plates away while we were still eating the food. While I understand it s important for staff to be attentive and quick, there s a line as it was more of a bother. When we were still trying to decide what we wanted we kept being asked to place our mains when we just wanted to enjoy our drinks and oysters. It made us feel rushed how many server came over pressing to put orders in. One server came over asking us for drinks, even though we had already put our drink order in with our server. Communication is key.
Great food. The concept is amazing and the vibe is great. Everything I tried on the menu was delish. The chef has created a wonderful menu
This was my first time there and it was a wonderful experience. Our server Grace was very knowledgeable and attentive. The general manager gave us a tour of the wine room as well. Thank you for making our evening a special one.
Okay, okay, okay! We ve been waiting (and waiting, and waiting) for a dining experience like this to come to Kingston. Drop everything and get to this experience (it s more than a restaurant) as soon as possible. I can understand some reviews are mentioning things this very new restaurant is working through, but don t skip it for the imperfect reviews. If you re looking for a dining experience that makes you feel like you might be in Europe, this is it. The cocktails are made with precision, and we learned so much about their craft and the passion that goes into their drink menu and wine list. We got the chance to spend time with the bar manager, who s the coolest, and he educated us on the concepts he s aiming for when creating the beverages his guests will experience. He also mentioned he goes to conferences and experiences wines from around the world, which assists him in building his wine list. They poured me a very generous glass of Prosecco, that was crisp, light and the bubbles lingered and lingered in my glass. A delight! We thoroughly enjoyed a very unique red sangria and a classic, old school amaretto sour. We order a half bottle of red and loved every sip. We tried the burrata salad, which reminded us of Italy with its classic elements, but with some modern, delicious twists. We shared an eggplant Parmesan, which was also made in classic style, and came with some beautifully done haricot vert and asparagus. We also tried a pizza and a veal dish. The pizza dough is reminiscent of pizzerias in Italy. Beautifully thin yet pillowy, flavorful, moist and a wicked chew. It was soooo easily digestible. The tiramisu is THE MOST authentic tiramisu we ve had outside of Italy and we ll be back over and over and over. The service was attentive, yet not intrusive. We had lovely interactions with every staff member. The decor is done in a crisp, modern, airy take on mid-century styles. Brass, black, and velvet done in a highly elevated way. Every seat I sat in was comfortable, which is often overlooked in reviews. It wasn t overly loud, even though conversation around us was lively. Acoustic panels and beautifully separated rooms help here. Heist is our new favourite and we ll now go here before we go to the restaurants we ve been going to faithfully for years. They re doing something special here. Go soon.
Great food in my opinion a little overpriced
Beautiful place with incredible good tasting food and friendly service.
Heist has a beautiful space, the interior was finished well, I especially enjoy dining in the courtyard room. The private wine club room is very cool but the pricing seems a bit outrageous to me. Service is always excellent. The food is good but for the price it would be nice to see homemade pasta. Cocktails are excellent.
This restaurant is phenomenal! We had the best meal there. The scallops are some of the best I ve ever had. Can t say enough good things about this place a must do in Kingston!
Absolutely amazing food, experience, service, and atmosphere. One of the only restaurants in town that has a sommelier. Our server, Grant, was so attentive and was able to provide us with information about the wine club and recommend some of the amazing dishes. The arancini balls were hands down the best I ve ever had. Would 10/10 recommend this place.
I had the opportunity to eat dinner here a short time ago with a large group of friends. The restaurant is large with lots of different areas and places to sit at. The service here was was excellent and helpful. For my main course I had the beef tenderloin and it was excellent. I haven t had a great steak at a restaurant as good as this in a long time. All the appetizers and desserts that I tried were also very tasty. It was a great experience here other than the fact that I found it was pretty loud and had a hard time hearing or carting on a conversation with the people sitting around you or even next to you with how busy the restaurant was.
Tried Heist for theb1st time. Great addition to kingston dining. Fantastic fresh menu.
The ROASTED duck!!! I ve been going down town for many years now and I ve never had such a great meal. Highly recommended this place and dish.
Elegant
The service was amazing! Employees were super friendly and professional. Everything was beautiful inside, very nicely decorated. Food was absolute perfection, clearly whomever is in the kitchen is passionate about cooking.
Fritto Misto, Seafood Spag, Steak Frites. Amazing food. Food
Gorgeous restaurant and great service, but 17 dollar cocktails? What a rip off.
A surprise find in the heart of Kingston. Worth making a reservation for, we got lucky without one but they were fully booked. Service was excellent and the food was well presented and tasty. The salad was over salted, but otherwise the food was good. Worth a return visit if in Kingston.
Lunch celebrating a friends birthday: The decor is extremely well done Service was attentive and the food was flavourful & presented nicely Food : 4/5
What a gem! Did not expect to find such a lovely place for dinner in the area. The food was excellent and the wine selection was amazing. Tony was charming and super helpful overall and with the wine choice, right on the money! The only possible improvement would be a few more Ontario wine options as there are many, when you go to the winery directly. Kacaba and Big Head are two in particular for fantastic reds.
We went for dinner to celebrate our anniversary-a great choice. Our server, Grace, was attentive and friendly. We enjoyed the veal Marsala and seafood pasta. We d both order the meals again. I d recommend!
Very
Fantastic ambience , top flight food with excellent and professional staff. Shout out to Jesse and Andrew for delivering another outstanding dining experience.
Weve dined at this establishment several times and have generally enjoyed our meals. However, our most recent visit will indeed be our last. During this experience, our enjoyment turned to concern when we observed a staff member in the kitchen taste-testing products from a spoon and then using the same spoon to plate sauces onto dishes destined for guests. This unsettling sight occurred while my significant other and I were enjoying our meals, both of which we couldnt finish due to feeling sick to our stomachs. Upon raising this serious issue with the management, their response was far from reassuring. We were told that staff members are allowed to taste-test products as they go, followed by them referring to the incident as weird, as they indicated they had never witnessed such a practice before. Regrettably, the managements handling of this matter left much to be desired. We settled our bill, in full, and departed with a sense of disappointment and concern about the restaurants hygiene standards. Note: Our table was in the corner where you could see through double doors into the kitchen. It s been a few weeks since this incident, but it has left us unsettled and we feel the need to share our experience with others. Our waitress was otherwise great!
Positive: friendly staff. Beautifully decorated. Negative: Food wasnt comparable to the price, i.e., the side vegetables were over cooked and so salty we couldnt eat them. A disappointment, since they looked like nice young carrots and parsnips. The focaccia is served warm on the outside but cold on the inside. My drink had been spilled before being delivered so the entire glass was sticky from the honey and egg white, hence my hands were also, (and the table) all during the meal. The main and appetizers were nicely presented, but not so special that they warranted the cost. Overall, very trendy, but still not comparable to other fine dining in the area.
Mussels were not fresh enough. Other than that, it was an enjoyable experience.
Very cool concept, great food and drinks, and njce atmosphere to go out with friends
Our first time at this relatively new restaurant was great due to the lamb chops and duck, lively atmosphere and good music vibe. However, their self-titled wine bar is undeserved since they only have 5 wines by the glass and only one is from the EU: Ruffino Chianti. Sad. The others were also disappointing.
Went there last night to celebrate a friend s birthday and it did not disappoint. We had Fritto Misto, Seafood Spaghettini, Eggplant Parmigiana, Crème Brûlée and Banana Toffee Pudding. All delicious. Highly recommend you go for a special night out.
Our pasta was unfortunately undercooked (the taste of flour was present). Everything except desserts was a bit too salty for our taste. Desserts were good but one friend found it sweeter than expected. The waiter was very good and kind, we appreciated his service. The background music was louder than anticipated, would probably choose another booth if we ever return.
By far one of the best experiences Ive ever had! The food was amazing, fresh and very well done. The service was splendid and the restaurant was so beautiful and elegant. Definetly my go to for a nice night out.
Wow, delicious. Great presentation, taste and fantastic service.
I photographed a wedding here in June 2023. Its an elegant spot for an intimate wedding. The food and service are excellent, and the vibe at cocktail hour was perfect.
Kingston is very fortunate to have such a beautiful restaurant. The décor is superb and its easy to see the thought and planning that went into the renovation and transformation of this former bank . The end product is one that will impress and amaze. The menu offers a wide selection of dishes. Everyone at my table enjoyed their meal as well as the delicious and fresh focaccia bread provided (complimentary). Our server, Grace, was attentive, helpful and efficient. This was a 5 * experience in a superb setting. Wishing the owners of the HEIST much success, as they deserve, for offering the city this amazing experience.
Simply amazing. Not easy to get experiences like this in Kingston, everything was perfectly done. Can t wait to go back!
My friend and I had a fantastic experience at Heist s soft opening last night. The wine, food, decor, and service were all of an extremely high calibre. We started with the fresh, delicious oysters, followed by the Caesar salad, branzino, and mushroom risotto. All were made to perfection and serving sizes were more than generous. To top off dinner, we ended with strawberry and chocolate gelato and a variety of fresh fruit. While the food was delicious, it was the crew that really stood out. Everyone was enthusiastic, professional, and knowledgeable. Even though the restaurant had just opened two days prior with soft openings, there was a great flow, strong communication, and a high level of attentiveness. New staff were being trained in a kind and supportive manner, and it was wonderful to see the hands-on approach from management. We greatly enjoyed our experience as accentuated by the chic decor and a tour of the historic site. We highly recommend Heist Restaurant and Wine Club and will definitely be back.
Loved this new restaurant in Kingston. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed and the food & service was outstanding! We shall be back.
Amazing Italian food in a gorgeous space!
We had the honor of being invited to the soft opening and it was simply amazing. The quality of the food, portion sizes, and decor blew us away. They had several vegetarian and gluten free options to chose from on their proposed menu. Congratulations to the staff, chef, and management for making our experience so enjoyable.
This restaurant is going to be my new favourite restaurant! Hands down, the best restaurant that I ve eaten at in Kingston. Also, I love the wine club! It s exactly what Kingston needs. The food and drinks were amazing! I especially enjoyed the seafood because it was so fresh and their espresso martinis were delicious Would 200% recommend to anyone!
Superb food and excellent service!!
Pretty excited. A new venue in fine dining. Im giving it a 5 based on how eager I am to go there after reading a review of the soft opening. Cant wait.
Wandering around Kingston on a Tuesday night, you never know what youre going to run into, and thank goodness we ran into this! We were lucky enough to get a table at this amazing new restaurant and were not disappointed. Fantastic finely crafted cocktails as well as amazing food, particularly the scallops. We need to give a shout out to the main bartender Oleks, he made such refined cocktails - you must experience this! P.S. My Girlfriend wrote this :)
Cocktails and food were amazing! The seafood especially was so fresh and delicious.
Front room is nice, the rest of the layout is very odd. Food is extremely pedestrian and doesn t match the price point at all. Won t be back
Would not recommend Wait time to get food is long Food is nothing special Pasta was very salty Lots of other much better restaurants in the city
Most of the food was Delicious, although salty. Service was on the slow side but understandable as it was busy. Overall good experience for a new restaurant.
Excellent service, food was great! Nice to see some familiar faces!
The decor and vibe of this place is on point for a fun night out with friends or date night. Enjoyed a drink in the lovely bar area where they served up some fantastic cocktails. After this, we were seated for dinner and the food was exceptional! They have a great selection of wines and seasonal features as well. It s been open for less than 2 weeks and it s already a top restaurant in Kingston in my opinion.
This is THE new place to be ! ... atmosphere is sofistication & class , the chef ,will delight you with THE BEST STEAK AND LAMB in town ! I highly recommend the lamb . The decor is fabulous , the wait staff is delightful . The whole experience was 5 star ! ..Managment and staff, were fabulous ,all hands on deck approach, to make your dinning pleasure a true success , Congratulations on your new endeavor!. WE will be back !
Amazing top-notch seafood. Pasta is in line or maybe a little behind other premium Italian restaurants in downtown Kingston. All mixed drinks tasted really good but I would recommend that you tell your server to press the bartender if you want to get drunk on them. My first drink was more like a 0.75oz pour instead of a 2oz. Some words with the server ensured my second drink was stiff. Quite noisy in the front area but I was relieved to be seated in the back where I did not have to yell to talk to my wife.
