Welcome to Toast & Jam an extension of Bread & Butter Bakery. Offering a place to sit and enjoy great food and service in a comfortable atmosphere. Using high quality ingredients and making everything from scratch in house is what's the driving force behind our menu.
A new breakfast spot I hadn't had a chance to try out till recently. Glad I stopped in!! Definitely my new Eggs Benedict "to go" place Friendly staff with a spacious layout in the whole restaurant. And if you like baked goods, they have a bakery attached next door with lots of treats to satisfy anyone's craving.
Hip breakfast/ brunch spot. Make sure to register on their online waitlist, especially in weekends. The vibe & setup is great, open & spacious. Service was prompt & attentative. Coffee was good. We ordered different platters that were ok, maybe our expectations were heightened given the very positive reviews. They sold out of soups as sides by 11.00 am which was a little disappointing. Bakery next door has a variety of baked goods, pies, sandwiches, made meals, pies, and fresh baked bread
I recently had brunch at Toast and Jam Café in Kingston, and it was nothing short of amazing! From the moment we stepped in, the warm and cozy atmosphere made us feel right at home. The menu offers a great variety, blending classic brunch options with creative, unique dishes.
This is by far one of the best breakfast restaurants in Kingston. The food is not only well prepared but it is seasoned very well without over doing it. Their freshly made bread, from scratch ketchup raises the bar on taste on a traditional breakfast. The atmosphere could be improved but it is not a big deal. Tables are nicely set apart therefore it is not loud. Their coffee is strong and flavourful. Price wise is standard.
Definitely recommend coming here if you’re in Kingston. The French toast is the best I’ve had. Loved the ambience and service. They have a bakery next to their shop called butter and bread which has amazing fresh options as well.
We had a late breakfast here in August 2024. The atmosphere: it was a nice place, very open and lots of seating. They also own the bakery next door. The service: we sat right away but it seemed our server kept disappearing... we waited a bit for the food, a bit to take our order and even longer to get the check. They were nice and yes they were busy, but it took longer than anticipated. The food: it was good. Their homemade bread was tasty and I loved their jam. Everything else was pretty basic. Overall it was ok, just wasn't wowed, especially for the price. The bakery seemed to be pretty busy as well.
Loved everything about this place. I had a hard time choosing what to order because all of the options looked amazing. Ended up ordering the Southern Cornbread and it did not disappoint. Fantastic service and atmosphere. Can't wait to come back next time I'm in Kingston. UPDATE: I came back and it was fantastic once again! Got the sausage breakfast sandwich with a side of bacon corn chowder. So good!
Toast & Jam is hands down one of the best brunch spots in Kingston! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere and the smell of fresh, delicious food. Their menu is creative and full of tasty options, from classic breakfast dishes to more unique offerings that satisfy any craving. The food is always fresh and perfectly prepared, whether you’re in the mood for their fluffy pancakes, perfectly poached eggs, or a hearty sandwich. Their homemade jams and baked goods are to die for, adding that extra special touch to every meal. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home. If you’re in Kingston and looking for a place that serves quality food in a relaxed setting, Toast & Jam is a must-visit. You’ll leave happy and full every time!
Tried the sausage sandwich. It was good. I especially liked the cranberry sauce in it. Beverage is more on the pricier side- London fog for 7.5, so I didn t get any. Arrive early to avoid lineup
This write up is a little bias ,the reason being Is that I am employed by the company Toast and Jam . I am very positive in saying ,and this comment comes with 43 years of restaurant experience that i stand behind this restaurant , the main reason being is that the food in this restaurant is always fresh , always made from fresh ingredients .the menu reflects ingenious trend setting items that are unique and flavourful ,Ive only seen this restaurant as an asset to Kingston Im also impressed by there humanitarian qualities by giving what they can in helping food banks in our community.and giving bread and items to the soup kitchens . Also the owners are the best that Ive ever worked for . Always caring about there staff Ive not seen in any other restaurant . If you are a good employee you are worth your weight in gold . Thats why I give this restaurant my personal rating of 100%.
I recently had breakfast with a friend visiting from Belleville, and while the cozy atmosphere of this restaurant stood out, the food didnt quite impress me. I ordered the Eggs Benny, which I found to be fairly average compared to other breakfast spots Ive tried--but that might be because Im not a huge breakfast person. One clever touch is their sister store next door, where you can buy the bread and jam served in the restaurant. Though its quite a trek from downtown, its still a nice brunch spot for those in that part of the city!
Busy , it is. 4 of us , never bin here before. The ever get back to Ktown. Food
Food was delicious and service was great
Id like to share my experience Ive heard about how great this place is for the last couple of years now. So I finally had time to go check it out and meet a friend for lunch. It did not live up to the hype. The atmosphere was welcoming and staff were attentive and friendly But the food was not as expected after hearing rave reviews. I had the mortatella sandwich grilled on Italian bread served with potatoes. Being a chef that has worked in catering and restaurants for years I was not impressed with presentation when my food arrived. The plate was not appealing no garnishes of greens or a piece of fruit to give my plate some brightness just a few overcooked burnt potatoes and a grilled sandwich. Potatoes were stone cold upon my first bite. Then came the sandwich, it was flavourful with the ricotta and pesto however the one slice of thin meat was completely lost on my nicely grilled bread. For the price point and for the food I received I felt that it was over priced and mediocre. That being said service was excellent. I also went next-door to the bakery and it was fabulous I would recommend the pastries and bread.
4 years later and many many breakfast have gone by; still this is my favourite breakfast spot in all of Kingston! I have had the lovely Justine as the server for many of these breakfast outings and she s always so wonderful and pleasant!! It is one of my favorite places to eat in Kingston! I absolutely love the eggs Benny and Jordans breakfast. The food is always fresh and super delicious. They have super sweet staff and everyone is very attentive and caring. Since toast and jam is such a loved place in Kingston they usually always have waiting time. But dont worry about it as while you wait you can munch on some delectable baked goods next door at their bakery bread and butter. Its a perfect excuse! Vegetarian options: Many vegetarian options! Parking: Parking is available in both front and back!
Limited menu, especially for toast. Home fries were lukewarm.
Update #2: I completely forgot to update this. They did respond to me after apologizing for missing my emails the first time around. They also compensated me for my meal and I gave them another try. This time around things went quite lovely. It was pretty busy but everything seemed to go quite quickly, especially for how busy they were. Again, the potatoes were a pretty small portion for the price but thats how it is these days. Their pancakes were delicious this time around and staff was attentive. I have changed my rating to 4 stars for this time around! When emailing with (I think the owner) it was again very lovely, as all staff are and they were very apologetic which I appreciate. Update: I emailed twice and never received a response which is too bad. Its better to not respond to a review than respond with a generic line to email and then never reply to my email. Ok so I do want to say the staff was so lovely and welcoming (every time Ive gone to the bakery theyve always been the same). That being said, thats kind of where the loveliness ended for me. I have eaten here a couple times in the past few years (their mac and cheese is so good but i usually just buy it from the bakery to reheat at home). Past experiences were pleasant and I really wanted to love my visit there but I just did not. I got there at 830am so I was lucky to be seated right away. However, it took an hour from the time I was seated for my food to get to the table. The traditional was so so. I got it with ham which was good but could have used some more potatoes to be honest considering the price. The ketchup that came with it was very watery so I didnt eat it. The jam was really good, however the bread (I asked for it not to be toasted) was still kind of hard which was unexpected and disappointing since its a bakery. Now the pancakes - these were pretty disappointing. It was an extra $2 to add chocolate chips and they only threw a few on one side of the pancakes. And then one of them was raw in the middle. Now I understand things happen and they did attempt to rectify it when I asked for a replacement pancake BUT it took another 20 minutes for them to bring me the replacement pancake AND there was no chocolate chips in it. Considering it was $19 for the chocolate chip pancakes with a couple slices of bacon ($17 plus $2 upcharge for chocolate chips), the experience could have been much better. All in all it was ok. The parts that were good, were pretty good. However, for the price, all the waiting, and the mishaps, the good just unfortunately wasnt good enough to make up for it. I did not want to be harsh and give only 2 stars so I gave 3 since half stars arent an option. I will continue to go to the bakery to support becuase they really do have some delicious items in their bakery but I dont think Ill be back to eat here unfortunately.
Great atmosphere. I definitely will eat at this place again when visiting Kingston.
While visiting Kingston for business, decided to have breakfast here one morning. The first thing I noticed was how beautiful the place was - quite open, spacious, and bright. The staff were very friendly. I wish I could have tried everything on the menu, because it all sounded delicious - but I opted for the pancakes with sage breakfast sausage. These were the most delicious pancakes Ive ever had - thick, fluffy, and just sweet enough on their own. They tasted even better with the side of whipped cream, maple syrup, and berries. The sausage was delicious as well! This place is a must visit! I will be back should I be in Kingston again.
We held a private 40th anniversary party for our parents at Toast and Jam, and cannot say enough about the space! It was a lovely spot for 25 people for a sit down dinner with room for a band and dancing in the evening. Dinner was delicious and the price for the event was very reasonable. Our event was made particularly special thanks to Sarah, who was responsive to any requests, and was friendly and enthusiastic throughout the night. We are very grateful to Sarah and to Toast and Jam for helping us create a memorable anniversary evening!
Toast & Jam is a bright and friendly breakfast place where I received a very good service from people who obviously enjoy interacting with customers. The food was good and people did not stop walking in. The bakery next door is definitely an advantage.
Omg, I love this place. My family will drive the hour to Kingston to go here. So worth it. Especially with the bakery attached. Mmmmmm. Fresh everything. The bread is sooooo good. The service is amazing, polite, quick and you even get a cookie with the bill. 10/10 will go over and over again. Thank you guys. Keep up the great work. This place is what every restaurant should be. Fresh, cooked to order, whole local ingredients and inexpensive. Couldnt be more perfect. Kid-friendliness: Definitely kids friendly. Awesome kids menu.
Good breakfast fruit and youghurt
Really good coffee. Really good food. Unique menu. Cant wait to be back
Food speaks for itself and the bakery next door is amazing
Brie and peach sandwich - yum! Dietary restrictions: They can make any dish gluten free. Food : 5/5 |
Wonderful locally owned business offering a great selection of breakfast items. Friendly, efficient staff, excellent food preparation and a relaxed eating space. Our go-to breakfast spot in Kingston. The attached bakery shop is icing on the cake!
Food was delicious, Michaela was the best, the perfect brunch spot! Also - vegan hot chocolate that actually tastes like chocolate!
Amazing food, and great service. Pancakes were a hit on our table and all of the staff was very friendly.
We were very disappointed with our traditional bacon and eggs breakfast yesterday. The fried eggs were cold and the whites not even cooked through. I had to leave eggs on my plate, the two slices of bacon were good and the potatoes were good tasting but cool. Basically the sour dough toast was great and the only part of my breakfast worth eating (besides the bacon). Toast and Jam used to be a good restaurant but we will never go back as it s just not the same quality it used to be and very pricey!
Its worth the waiting time !! Really beautiful cafe with fresh and amazing food !!
Friendly staff, delicious food!
We came twice in two days on our vacation. One of the highlights of our vacation was we couldn t go a third time on the Monday as it was closed. Friendly staff fresh food well worth visiting. You can get on the waitlist from their webpage.
The granola and yogurt bowl is perfection! The staff is friendly and very efficient. We went one day and had to go back the next day it was that good! I would go again tomorrow but, unfortunately, it is closed on Mondays.
Their Pancakes were truly amazing! I ve been here a few times and tried the Sweet Potato hash, Tomato Pesto Ricotta toast and the Florentine Eggs Benedict and it was all really good!
Really lovely atmosphere and fantastic food. We had really friendly service too who helpfully split our sandwiches up so we could try more of the great menu items! Will definitely return next time I am in the area
If I could give zero stars I would. My boyfriend and I went here to celebrate our anniversary with a nice breakfast. Waited for a table for 45 mins (no problem). Once we arrived, there missing silverware that was never given to us and after an hour wait for our breakfast, was told by our waitress that she lost our order/hadn t put it in. Almost two hours of waiting and nothing was offered to remedy this situation. We left hungry and extremely irritated. I doubt we ll return.
Adorable staff with families and super good food! We really enjoy our stop there for breakfast!
delicious mimosa flights + eggs benny. always a perfect brunch at Toast & Jam.
in short it was very bad and ruined the mood, which is surprising based on the number of reviews. We ordered a cherizo sandwich and potatoes, my fiancée ordered a salmon toast with eggs and potatoes. My sandwich was simply so oily that I simply couldn t wash my hands, and the portion of potatoes was very small. I also ordered tea, they brought a teapot with one Lipton bag. It was just boiling water; there was no taste of tea at all. My fiancée took this toast where the eggs were completely cooked, to what we pointed and asked to fix the dish and make the eggs with a runny yolk. They simply brought new eggs. Why you can t take the dish back and remake it, is not clear. In the end about the atmosphere, you just sit in the middle of hall, it s very uncomfortable and not cozy. Also it was my worst 60$ spending.
Love this cafe. Nice ambience. Great service. Food was lovely. You have menu for kids too. The washrooms were clean. Lot of parking space. I will def revisit. Do check out the bakery for some yummy pastries.
Amazing food, not cheap, rude and aggressive service. If you want to pay a lot for good food delivered by someone who doesnt want you around them, this is your place. Food : 5/5
Went to Toast & Jam yesterday for brunch. Higher quality brunch than average. Service was okay. Friendly enough. The baked French toast is actually bread pudding which is not something I would order. Not sure why they have it wrong on the menu.
Good was great, butter tarts even better!
First time there. Beautiful inside, friendly service. Food was ok. My quiche was not cooked through nor were the potatoes and very bland. Some of the potatoes didnt even have the eyes taken off so you got twigs sticking out.
Great breakfast place. I had It s traditional, and it s amazing how just a slice of buttered bread can be soooo delicious! We came around 12:00 and had to wait for 40 minutes to be seated. It was totally worth it, but just an advice to reserve in advance! Parking: We were waiting for a parking space for couple of minutes
Great food, great service!
Overrated place. The food was good, but we came out hungry after spending $90.
What a wonderful experience! Fun, friendly service with exceptionally good flavourful food in a beautiful restaurant.
We tried Toast and Jam for brunch on a recommendation from a friend and were not disappointed. I tried the French Toast with a fruit compote. It was brioche-based and delicious. My partner had a salad with seasonal fruit, goat cheese, roasted almond slices, and a balsamic vinaigrette - also delicious. The staff were very friendly and around when needed but not hovering. On a side note, there was a large chalkboard sign saying Support Local Growers and then listing quite a few local businesses with whom they deal. I, personally, would like to see a lot more of that going on. The more we support local growers, the less dependent we are on foreign business interests. Off my soap box now.
This was my second time at Toast and Jam and it was as incredible as the first time. I had the burger special which was outstanding. My sister had the quiche and it was equally delicious!
What has happened? This used to be a very decent, good quality cafe/bakery. Our visit today was a shock to us. The quality of food had gone down since our last visit. For example, the mushroom toast had hardly one sliced mushroom that was placed on top of a single small piece of soggy bread. The accompanying salad was bland. The soup of the day (potato and leek cream soup) tasted more like diluted mesh potatoes. There was no evidence of leek. Hope it s just an isolated anomaly.
Went for brunch and the French toast was delicious! And the apple juice was also yummy! Service was great too, very nice people and cute restaurant!
I would eat that mushroom toast every day. It is perfection. And any kitchen that can think that deliciousness up has my vote for other options too (which Ill have to start trying)
Love coming to this place for brunch, the quality and quantity are both great & the service is good as well. Their breakfast burrito is a 10/10
Great food and staff
Always tasty
Delicious food and warm friendly service. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options Food : 5/5 |
There are lots of vegetarian options, and the homemade sauces and breads are wonderful! The potatoes are always kind of, sad? Vegetarian options: Most of the new breakfast menu is Vegetarian. Parking: The main lot fills fast! But there s plenty around back. Kid-friendliness: Casual, big dining area
Hands down the best breakfast in Kingston!! The staff are fantastic and the food is even better! Very well-curated and creative menu
Amazing breakfast place in Kingston. The French toast was fantastic. Wonderful fluffy homemade bread. Get there early!
Service lightning fast Food is delicious
Excellent quality, very fine bakery
Best food!!
A wonderful place for lunch. Although you know how busy and popular it is, I have never felt rushed or neglected. Very tasty sandwiches and the daily soups are divine. We rarely pass up the chance to get some bakery goodies from the attached shop
Absolutely awful service
Happy with food, portion, quality, services and atmosphere. This restaurant definitely has warm welcoming atmosphere that makes dine-in truly enjoyable. It s quite unique. Definitely a 5-star experience. Kid-friendliness: Prepared to accommodate kids so that parents can enjoy food.
I ordered Eggs Benny with Moroccan soup. The soup was excellent, however, the restaurant charged $5 extra for a thin slice of salmon on the sandwich, which was clearly part of the menu item not an extra addition. The server didnt mention this either. Misleading service and menu.
Great food in friendly atmosphere. Home made deliciousness
Love this place! The food is fantastic. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere is perfect for a cozy breakfast and lunch spot. Its the little details here that make all the difference. Good coffee, homemade jams and ketchup and delicious baked goods. Ive been taking my infant here and the staff are so kind and helpful!
Amazing food
Always amazing food and service. I love their coffee. Great place to bring friends and family visiting town!
Fantastic food! What a great little breakfast place!
Great food, lively atmosphere. Always delicious! Must try the Mimosa flight! Quite busy most weekends, be prepared to wait anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, maybe more. The ridiculous wait times are the reason reservations Should be implemented. Havent returned in 3 years for this reason. Must check out the Bakery adjacent to the restaurant.
Came here from out of town as I saw good reviews and had a relative who recommended this place. I m from Europe and I was expecting fresh farm eggs and high quality meats seeing as the prices on the menu were so high.. Canadian restaurant let me down again with the overcooked eggs that were quite nauseating and the bacon was cold , potatoes were awfully dry and unseasoned . I m disappointed in the taste and quality of the ingredients. The hot chocolate was also super expensive for a small cup of milk with some whip cream on top $8 just exaggerated prices . Better off going to a mom and pop diner where breakfast is under 10 a person. The service was ok from the waitress but the waiting time was very long. Overall, not worth it and Canadian restaurants have been very overpriced for bad quality . Feels like I m in socialist country and everyone looks so depressed too people don t look too happy . So sad
This place was amazingggggg!! The sourdough and jam is an absolute must. The eggs in the eggs Benedict were booked perfectly. Overall, the atmosphere was homey and comfortable. I recommend adding yourself to the wait list online before arriving as the wait times are quite long on the weekends!
Good coffee, great pastries and helpful staff.
Had a great breakfast! Amazing staff. Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about how to make some vegetarian dishes vegan. Made sure we had what we needed. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options. Some vegan but they work hard to make sure it is made properly
Had birthday breakfast there. Friendly service, tasty food except for the potatoes. The croissant was really good though. For sure will visit again. Food
I ordered the toast mushrooms toast , it came with poached eegs perfectly cooked to ur liking it was delicious i give this place a 10 plus.def will be back for more I also went to grt a cinnanon bun its flavor of butter is awesome plus i got a maple syrup for pancakes at homemade delicious maple syrup to top it off
Great food, quick service, friendly staff! Thank you :) Food : 5/5
Best breakfast in Kingston. Cant go wrong here.
Sorry to find they didnt have the items we wanted to order, but our waitress made up for it by suggesting a close replacement they could do.
Cute little cafe with yummy food. A lot of local items which is nice - comes with a little more cost though. Still would recommend and has nice options for breakfast / brunch / lunch! Parking: Free parking at the front and back of the building
Theres lots to love about Toast and Jam; good ingredients, wholesome bread, fresh salads, the best pie pastry and pleasurable service. And then theres whats not to love; lackadaisical service, warmish food and so, so, preparation, at times. The service at the back end makes eating there so enjoyable! Perfect! The front end is sketchy; missing cutlery, no coffee top-ups, and generally waiting to be waited on, depending on the server. And the food can be disappointing; sausages just not tasty or nicely browned, potatoes or quiche barely warm. Yes, well go again and hope for the good ol service and food we love about Toast and Jam!
It s a tradition and blueberry pancake are the two nice choice, atmosphere is nice, a bit pricey, free parking
The most incredible breakfast! The food was spectacular, and the servers were all so wonderful. We will definitely be back!!
Great place for comfort food, adjoining bakery.
Super tasty and delicious food. The French toast was a lot bigger than expected. Service was great, and the place was very big and spacious. It didn t have any ambiance music like cafe music while dining but other than that over all great experience
Fantastic spot! Delicious coffee and baked goods. Scrumptious breakfast. Our waitress Sarah was a star!
Vegetarian options: Many Dietary restrictions: Lots of options Parking: Good # of spots, behind building and in front Kid-friendliness: They would find something on menu, servers are amazing and I m sure they would accommodate Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp
GET OFF THE 401 AT EXIT 611 (GARDINERS ROAD) IT S SO WORTH IT. We were driving from Ottawa to Toronto, a trip we ve made a million times. Fed up with enRoute lunch stops, we decided to drive off the 401 a bit near Kingston. I used Google to find some non-chain places within 10 minutes of the Highway and happened on Toast & Jam. It seems far at 6.5 kms from the 401 but it s only 8 minutes. Are we ever glad we risked it! I won t bother repeating what nearly every review says about the fantastic, inventive food mostly brunch-type fare or the genuine friendly vibe and service. (And then there s the Bread & Butter bakery that s part of the place to stock up for the road. Yum!) What I did is analyze the reviews on Google. In the past two years they had 473 reviews. 85% are 5 stars and 12% four stars. If you live in Kingston, you already know about Toast & Jam. If you are driving by, GET OFF THE 401. NOTE: THEY CLOSE AT 3:00 PM
Went on a Sunday. Food was good but a couple of things were somewhat cold. Service was great. And the bakery is fantastic
The Almost Huevo was 10/10! The tofu scramble is better than what I can make at home. It was filling and all the flavours worked well together. Unfortunately, we also got the bbq tofu sandwich which was more like a 6/10; it didnt fill the plate and the sandwich itself steamed the tofu which made it too soft. They really should use fried tofu instead. The menu is written in a bit of a confusing way as a vegan because non-vegan ingredients were listed under items labelled as vegan but our server understood what we needed completely and addressed our concerns sympathetically. This only became a problem when we ordered a side of toast (which on the menu is listed as vegan) but ended up receiving buttered toast instead of regular toast. I feel like if the vegan substitutions were listed under the items as modifications instead of being listed on the side of the items as if the item is always vegan, then this problem could have been avoided because we wouldve known to be more specific with our well-meaning server. Vegetarian options: Make sure to be specific with your server just in case! The menu is a bit misleading.
Wish they took reservations. Wait staff was nice, it was just apparent they were spread a little thin. Overall not a bad experience.
Service was absolutely wonderful, which made up for the food. It was decent but not what we d hoped. Potatoes were barely cooked enough and hollandaise sauce was almost watery. My husband had to request his dish to be re-heated as it arrived cold. Hopefully this isn t a common occurrence and the cook just rushed through our order.
This place is Amazing! Very clean and Welcoming with Big Smiles as you Enter The Service is 5 Thank you Brenda! The Food is Spectacular The Taste & Freshness as well as presentation Awesome ! Atmosphere : Warm & Cozy Thank you for a Delightful experience! Be back soon to enjoy more of your menu
Great food and service but very loud!!
Amazing place! Great atmosphere with yummy food and drinks! I got the special of the day which was a corn bread with eggs and a specialty sauce along with a chai latte and the juice of the day! All was delicious and my waiter was very kind!
Great service. The food is consistant, affordable and filling. Servers are attentive to topping up water and coffee. My partner and I have been back multiple times and will continue to do so.
Great quality of food
Best breakfast in town, always take out of town visitors here!
I do not know these people and my visit today was not planned... I stopped in for breakfast while in town on business and, well, I had the best bacon, eggs & toast I think I have ever eaten... Seriously. They run a bakery next door (Bread & Butter Bakery) and everything is made in-house including the jams and ketchup. The quality of food here is extraordinary. I was pleased to learn they support local farmers and the taste of my meal reflects it. My waitress was very friendly and professional and explained how shocked she was when they told her after she was hired full-time that they offer health benefits to their staff. Again, I do not know these people but I know good food and great service and this place offers both! If you are visiting Kingston do yourself a favour and try this place out. Parking: Ample free surface parking
As an out-of-town visitor, this is a must on my go-to list every time. T&J never disappoints!
LOVE how everything is homemade and always tastes wonderful and is so creative!
Very cute place, I usually go to pan chancho but wanted to switch it up and was not disappointed. They had amazing homemade ketchup and tasty jams. I enjoyed my time here and plan on going in the future
If youre in Kingston and looking for a great breakfast spot, I highly recommend Toast & Jam. From the moment I walked in, I knew it was going to be good - the smell of fresh baked goods wafting through the air was irresistible. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with plenty of seating in a spacious and airy dining area. I visited Toast & Jam on a weekday during a business trip, and was surprised to see the restaurant packed with customers even at 2 PM. Despite the crowd, the service was excellent - the servers were friendly and accommodating, happy to chat and offer recommendations from the extensive menu. I opted for the French toast and coffee, and it was nothing short of delicious. The French toast itself was very unique - it had a cake-like texture and was topped with syrup and whipped cream. It was the perfect balance of sweet and savory, and left me feeling completely satisfied. While I cant speak to every item on the menu, I can say that everything I saw looked absolutely mouth-watering. I definitely plan on returning to Toast & Jam to try more of their offerings. Another great thing about Toast & Jam is the plentiful parking available right up front. And if youre in the mood for some baked goods to go, they have a dedicated section on the side of the restaurant where you can pick up treats to enjoy later. All in all, I highly recommend Toast & Jam for a delicious breakfast or brunch experience. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is inviting, and the service is top-notch. Dont miss out on this Kingston gem - I know Ill be back!
Yummy. Yummy. Recommend highly. vanilla Latte was one of the best.
It was our first time going there for brunch. The place was full, so we did have to wait like five or ten minutes, but man, was the wait ever worth it. We understood why the place was so busy. The coffee is excellent, the staff amazing, the atmosphere very relaxing...but the food...the food was to DIE for. Everything was absolutely delicious. The restaurant serves breads and pastries made in their own bakery next door, so everything is fresh. The salad that came with my dish was so good I had to ask the server for the recipe of the dressing; it turns out it was made in-house and sold at the bakery. I immediately went and bought some. We are definitely coming back and bringing everyone in our family here. Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian and vegan options. All delicious. Kid-friendliness: My kids devoured all their food and then some. :)
Comfortable place to sit, relax and have a meal. Service was relatively quick and friendly. Price wise I thought it was a bit expensive however everything is fresh and well prepared. There were two of us for breakfast. Downside is the parking is limited. Food
Food is amazing, especially the French toast. Yum!
Delicious food and beautiful atmosphere! Nice and spacious as well if you re taking children in a stroller with you for a bite to eat.
First time here and it was great! There was a wait of about 45 minutes (came on the long weekend, makes sense) but it was worth the wait. Our server Sarah was so lovely and accommodating, the drinks and food were delicious, and the atmosphere was fun and welcoming. Thanks for having us! We will be back :)
A unique creative breakfast! So good!
Excellent place to visit, becoming an icon of Kingston
Excellent food! Best Bennys in kingston....potato portion a bit small but very good! Server wasnt as attentive, had to ask for refills but nonetheless food was superb
Great little surprise!! We stopped for breakfast on our way to Ottawa and Im not sure what was better how nice the service was or the food. Looking forward to stopping in for lunch someday.
Ginger cookies are great
I have been to europe, far east, middle east , asia - best french toast ever , arrive early as they have line ups , if you re planning a drive from Toronto to Ottawa , plan to eat your breakfast here. Quiche was vegetarian and excellent, cheeses are halal but always ask again. Huge dining area , excellent service
By far best breakfast ever. Bakery next door is a bonus.
This past Friday my husband and I along with 30 guests celebrated our 50 th wedding anniversary at a special event at Toast and Jam! It was a spectacular evening!! The staff were wonderful, so accommodating and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in! The food was excellent and our guests raved about how delicious it was! Thankyou so much to all the staff (Jordan and Sarah) and the Whitall family! Katie you made my dreams come true!!
Delicious brunch, very good bread, great coffee. Loved the Kingston Croque. Very happy we stopped here and hoping to get a chance to come again
Very good meal. Really liked the bacon potatoes and home made Jam.
The ambiance of the place was awesome we were 4 people for breakfast the food was really good and the service as well. If in Kingston do go to this place for breakfast.
Beautiful place for a breakfast menu. The vibe and the ambience is lively. Great place to hangout. The best place for the breakfast and brunch in Kingston.
Absolutely delicious! We ve wanted to visit for a long time but it s hard when we live in Trenton and it is so popular and busy! We went today and the lady noticed my birthday necklace and brought me a cupcake! Highly recommend!! And you have Limestone Creamery chocolate milk! My favourite!!
Nice breakfast / brunch place, eggs benedict was good as always
My sister and I went for breakfast this morning. I loved that was attached to a bakery and the bread was all fresh. I had the French toast with bacon and it was super, the bread was AMAZING! My sister had the cornmeal Benny and she really enjoyed as well. I am travelling so didn t grab anything from bakery but the cinnamon buns looked fantastic so next time in area would be something I would get.
Great food always with an interesting twist to tempt your tastebuds!
Food is incredible, really friendly staff! Definitely get the Kingston croque
Great little discovery. We went in for breakfast & the food overall is spot on. A true Gem ! This place started off as a family run bakery. The bakery is still attached & provides the bread for the restaurant & many other baked goodies etc. They have wonderful homemade jams & ketchup. Definitely a must visit if in Kingston but be sure to put get on the waitlist on their website, as it gets quite busy especially on the weekends.
Cute restaurant, food was amazing, service is fast and friendly. When you pay they offer ginger cookies, which they were amazing. The menu changes with the season because they source food locally Food
A great local spot for brunch! A good selection of menu options including many vegan and vegetarian choices. Be sure to use the online wait list to avoid waiting when there!
Toast and Jam is a breakfast delight with a standout menu. While the potatoes were just okay, the sourdough bread was an absolute triumph, and their signature jam is a must-try! The overall experience was satisfying, and I know Ill be coming back for more. If youre a breakfast lover, this place is worth the visit! Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options Dietary restrictions: Very accommodating Parking: Lots of parking around back if the front is full Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible
The best traditional breakfast ever. We visited Kingston from Vancouver Island and were treated to a wonderful meal!
Great food selection and service.
This place rocks! My favourite breakfast spot!
Favorite place for breakfast now.
A fantastic place for breakfast and service is immaculate. Kudos! keep it up.
Delicious brunch menu. We enjoyed all the dishes we ordered. I personally really liked the French toast. Service was good. I also like how their bakery is next door.
Fabulous spot for breakfast. 6 km off the main strip but it s worth it. I gave it a star less that perfect due to food temperature but otherwise fabulous food. I loved their southern benny
Great place. Great food, would be a 5 star if they served HOT food
One of the best breakfast restaurant in a lifetime. Great service and a unique menu with homemade bakery. Highly recommended!
Food was fantastic and they also had gluten free...butter tarts were my FAVs Great Food, with Great Friends make it A Great Place!
The food is great, but as some other people mentioned. Some of the food came out lukewarm.
Atmosphere nice, but that was it. Ordered standard breakfast, eggs burnt underneath yet under cooked on the sunny side. Sausage wasnt a breafast Sausage but Italian something with a tough and burnt skin, potatoes were boiled ? and underwhelming . Toaster didnt toast bread, yet somehow burnt the crust, ordered sourdough received whole grain
Nice food and service..
We went here for breakfast. We had the Corn meal Benny, pea meal breakfast home made toast and home made jam. Perfect amount and so delicious ! Lattes superb. Decor is super cute and roomy. We joined the wait list so when we arrived there was no wait. All staff friendly and service quick. We will be back ! Complimentary ginger cookies at end of meal topped it off.
Terrific breakfast and brunch !
Amazing service. Delicious food. I love the cornbread breakfast with the homemade jam. Plus the complimentary ginger molasses cookie. Will definitely come back.
Returning to Kingston is always a delight and indulging in the charm of this newly discovered breakfast space is icing on the cake. The ambiance calms the soul, the corn bread benny conjures the sweetness of grandmas kitchen while the generosity and kindness of the staff and patrons always inspires an encore.
Toast and Jam is a brunch paradise! Their Pesto Panini is a flavor explosion, perfectly balanced with the richness of pesto and the freshness of the ingredients. The Fruit Bowl is a refreshing delight, and the Almost Huevos dish is a creative twist on a classic favorite. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service add to the experience. If youre looking for a spot with innovative breakfast options, this is it!
Bright and cheery, Toast & Jam is an amazing spot to stop for breakfast! The food was fantastic, and the service was top notch. I will definitely be back.
Great food and drinks. Their toast and jam are excellent, as expected. Chicken sandwich was a little bland. Otherwise, server and vibe was nice on a Saturday afternoon.
A great place! Bright, airy, with a creative menu, reasonable prices, good service. We enjoyed it. Food
Had breaking hunger on and t and j was my fix..
I had the pesto panini and added chicken, it was amazing - even that the side salad that accompanied it was over the moon! I was in from out of town and all of my family raves about T&J, so Im really glad I finally had the chance to try it
Liberal
Excellent flavours and service!
Loved this place! The menu is different than your regular breakfast place. The place was huge for indoor dining with a bakery next door. Service was good and the food better! Ordered the breakfast burrito with a tomato cream soup and my girlfriend got the southern cornbread with a side of roast potatoes. Would for sure come back to try the other menu items.
The sausages were delicious
Amazing breakfast food but expect a long wait on weekends. The waiting area is chaotic and loud and a little disorganized. One time I was told the wait was 45 min and then a person walked in after me and was seated right away. I inquired what that was about and I was seated immediately, which made me happy but it seemed odd that I was told 45 min wait and then someone after me got seated. Warehouse style dinning in a big open space with high ceilings. I had the Southern Cornbread for $19 with mushroom soup. The soup was creamy and hearty and very delicious. The cornbread was good and there is way more on the plate that can be eaten. Very filling meal. Kid-friendliness: It s kid friendly. Loud restaurant
Great food. High price
Hospitality and service was great! Food was cold and not good. Too expensive for what you get. Food : 1/5
Loved the scones
Im giving this place top marks, despite a slight hiccup today when we had breakfast. While my eggs benny were amazing and delicious, my partner ordered the traditional, and the eggs were runny, almost uncooked. However the server was great, not charging us for her meal. We even left with a almond croissant as a consolation, not necessary but very appreciated and delicious! Ive been to Toast & Jam before and will absolutely be back again. I highly recommend to anyone looking for an amazing place to enjoy breaky. Definitely one of the best eggs benny Ive ever had.
Really inviting and cozy spot in the west end of Kingston. Delicious and well-portioned food, and service was great and timely. They have a cool waitlist system and I suggest using it on busier days/times to ensure you get a table! The mushroom toast was delightful!
Love the atmosphere! Love the food and the servers are great!
Had another breakfast here last week, and everything was once again excellent. Fast & friendly service, great food and great coffee. Will be back again!
A little expensive . The service and food was very good.
This is by far one of my favourite places for brunch. The sausages, the house ketchup, the bread and during Christmas the peppermint mocha. All of it is in a word, perfection. With how the place is set up, it can get very loud but the food is so worth it.
Last year, I went to Toast and jam. I really liked the atmosphere, food and customer service as well. It s a long waiting. You better book online so you can see how long you have to wait. I am from Toronto. I booked online then I cruising around Kingston city. After you get a notification that you are next, you will have 10 min to be there. Otherwise, your spot will be cancelled. This time, I tried quiche and soup of the day. Both were delicious.
Hidden gem in Kingston. Love their brunch menu and fresh baked good from next door.
Amazing!
Overrated in my opinion, its just a trend. Food was okay, ambience was great, there was a wierd smell in the dishes
We waited to be seated, no issue there, after being seated we sat for 10 minutes waiting to be acknowledged, while people who were seated after us were attended to . Service terrible !! We left after approx.15 minutes. Food looked good but who knows !!!
