Sima Sushi in Kingston

So many flying bugs covering our food and sake it s disgusting it even got into our cups. Damn food is so expensive too don t come .

Food was great other than edamame lacked salt.

Ordered 2 Sushi B dinner special. The size of the sushi pieces was too big and didnt taste fresh. One of the tilapia (white fish) nigiri had a small piece of bone in it. Would not recommend.

Tried Sima today as Sushi Ya Zen was closed this weekend. If I m honest none of it was great (and that s being kind). The shrimp tempura was oily, and had WAY too much batter, which absorbed a lot of the frying oil and wasn t cooked all the way through. The spicy and crispy salmon rolls had very little salmon in it and the spicy sauce they used did not taste great. The salmon sushi pizza had rice that wasn t fried (or if it was, it was for a second as it had 0 crunch to it). If you ve had sushi in Toronto, you know this place isn t it. Sorry Sima.

So surprised at the high reviews. I visited this past summer and found the sushi average at best. Maybe it was a one-off so Ill have to try it again.

Finally got to try this restaurant. A few months ago, my girlfriend and I walked past and it was full so we knew the food is good. I am Asian and I am highly acquainted with Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, Korean, Singaporean, Malaysian and Indian cuisine. So for those folks that rated this place low, I challenged them. As in all restaurants, if you go when it s busy, prepare to wait or move on and come back another day. Don t rate the service. If you have tried the food and rated it poorly, give them another chance. Our experience was really good. Got a seat right away. Had the green tea. I ordered the Sima Lunch Special with the 6 pieces of sashimi, 6 sushi and 6 California roll. Fish was really fresh and excellent and the wasabi was soft and spicy. The tempura vegetable roll gave it a unique touch. My friend had the Chicken Teriyaki and the sauce complemented the chicken very well. Should have asked for the recipe. lol. Service was awesome and prices were fair and affordable. So if you are in the neighbourhood, please stop by. I don t live in Kingston but I came back.

I drooled over this food. The staff were SO KIND, we spilt the vegetarian spring rolls and they were delicious. all of their deluxe rolls are fabulous, we tried the pink flower and red dragon and we were both full and satisfied by the end of the meal. for dessert we got the green tea mochi and it was also delicious. It s a small restaurant but we were able to get a table without any wait time. it was very clean inside, and it s lovely that the art on the walls is available to purchase!! the restaurant was also very clean and organized :) Vegetarian options: plenty of choices from each section of their menu!! and the options are great in variety of ingredients, plus the food is so pretty too.

I would like to try the sushi here. Still no dine-in (for like 3 years) and I refuse to take out sushi as I live almost an hour out of town and at that point its just nasty and old. My review obviously isnt for food so I cant rate quality so that gets 0 stars and I cant rate anything else except its accessibility.

The food is good quality but literally every time we order (which is fairly often), it takes two hours to get to us. We live a 5 minute walk away. They are in over their heads and taking more orders than they can reasonably fill in order to make more money.

They also currently dont have dine-in so you will have to find a place to eat elsewhere. We got the 55 piece party tray, which was a decent size for 4 people. Ordered takeout on mothers day little bit of an extra wait as it was very busy. Overall same great quality. My order was missing an item but was quickly fixed.

I come here for the pink flower roll - it is the only sushi roll I have ever seen that doesn t have seaweed in it (I don t like seaweed) and it so delicious! My daughter loves the Krock roll as well and the butter fish.

Oh my gosh, I don t know where they get their fish from but the regular sashimi (especially for this price!) is to die for. I can t think of other places in town that offer this quality of fish.

Outstanding authentic Japanese cuisine!!! Portions were ample, the sushi and deluxe maki were beyond excellent. I will definitely return to Sima Sushi the next time I visit Kingston!!!

The chirashi and deluxe sushi are fantastic. Very well seasoned rice and large pieces of fresh fish. The special torched rolls are delicious! No reservations accepted, but the small restaurant fills up fast!

Although the sevice staff(1 server) was very pleasant, but found it weird to be sat along the one wall and sat behind a line of chairs where they set take out orders. Food quality had gone down since going in the past for dine in and take out.

10/10! The best sushi in town! Seriously. It is my first time in here and I am definitely coming back.

The staff were accommodating of our big group. The takoyaki was amazing, and the fish was very good. The noodle soup was good, and the matcha ice was amazing.

Food tasted great, some of the best gyoza Ive had Very accommodating staff. Not overly pricey. Only thing I can think is more dining space, but then theyd probably sacrifice business considering its right in the convenience shopping area part of down town.

In Kingston, Sima has the best selection of sushi. The prices seem reasonable and we thought the service is very good. I think it might be the best in Kingston. Small place with first come first serve so its common to have to wait for a bit.

Excellent sushi. Higher quality than the buffet style and more appropriate fish-to-rice ratio. Very reasonable prices and great downtown location with lots to see and do within walking distance. Worth the drive into town from the 401. Street parking can be a challenge but I have always managed to find it. Parking is free on certain days and times. Not many tables. Recommend calling ahead. Kid-friendliness: Family friendly. Wheelchair accessibility: Washrooms are located upstairs.

Ordered takeout for the first time from here, and we all agreed the food was AMAZING! Definitely highly recommend the Dynamite dragon, and the double torched spicy roll was out for this World, the Yam tempura roll was excellent!

Ordered for the first time (Uber eats delivery!) I ve been on the hunt to find really good sushi. THIS IS IT. the pieces are BIG! i thought two rolls would tie me over but I just finished one and I m stuffed! I got the dynamite & Philadelphia roll to test the waters and I am not disappointed. I will be ordering more! Since it was delivery I will add they added lots of wasabi and soya sauce (7 packets each!) and everything was tied securely to go in a plastic bag!

We had a wonderful meal from Sima! The sushi was wonderfully fresh. There were 3 of us dining, and I myself am vegetarian. Those who ate fish said it was fabulous and fresh. I found the variety and selection of vegetarian rolls wonderful. Definitely recommend!

Their salmon sushi pizza and spicy salmon donburi bowl were good. Portion of the sushi pizza was a bit small but the bowl was sizeable and fresh.

I always love Sima and I have been going there for years! By far the best sushi place in Kingston! Expensive, but worth all the hype!!

Good place for lunch, but has since shortened their lunch hours. Faces stiff competition from neighbours at the same intersection but more importantly, there are better options in the rest of the city of youre willing to go out of the downtown core.

Still not open for dining after restrictions have been lifted.

Worst chicken teriyaki Ive ever had. They used chicken breast and it was so dry even with the sauce. They just loaded 2 giant breasts which were probably boiled. Sometimes more doesnt mean better. Sushi was ok. Never coming back here unless you want an americanized take on japanese food.

Visited Kingston for the first time in nearly 10 years, and Sima Sushi was just as good as I remembered! They used to have a dine-in area but are only doing takeout and delivery now. We ordered the sushi dinner, yam tempura roll, white dragon roll, and gyoza and it was all absolutely delicious. The fish is fresh, rice is perfectly seasoned, and I love that they dont use too much rice in their rolls like many other places do. They presented it beautifully in the takeout bento boxes. It is always my #1 most recommended sushi place in the area to anyone who visits, and Im so happy they are just as amazing as before!

Visiting from the GTA, our first time enjoying Sima Sushi (take out) - exceptional! We ordered the 50 piece platter - high quality selection (no skimping), mostly raw fish rolls and sashimi, our absolute favorites! We are DEFINITELY returning to Sima Sushi on our next visit to Kingston!

Sima can do no wrong. This has been our go-to sushi place since it opened, and while we have tried other Kingston sushi restaurants no other matches the freshness or the quality. Anytime there s a special occasion or any occasion at all, Sima is our place to celebrate. I miss the nostalgia of eating in their small but cosy restaurant as dine in is still closed, but take out is just as high quality and delicious.

The sushi sashimi did not taste fresh and the sushi was cut in thicker longer pieces than preferred. Didn t make each bite delectable. Staff was polite however were busy and offered take out only. Felt rushed not welcomed.

Dear Sima Sushi, I just want to say how amazing your sushi is. Second to none. Tonight my husband and I ordered our love love salmon and other rolls, after a long week. We drove down and had to wait only a few extra mins, this was no big deal to us, but on top of our meal, the owner gave us free drinks and it was over the top in hospitality and kindness. Wow. Just wow. As a person who LOVES sushi and has tried all types from very expensive to AYCE I have to say that sima sushi is amazing! The pieces of sashimi are fresh, flavorful and LARGE. One sashimi slice is equal to two in Toronto. The rolls are PACKED with good stuff, and not rice. I wish Toronto had as good and affordable sushi like this!

Overrated! Ive heard this is the best sushi restaurant in Kingston and it did not live up to the hype. The spicy Salmon is mediocre at best. The California roll had minimal avocado and Kani, mainly cucumber. Unlikely I will go back

We are from Kingston and we are picky, especially with sushi. But...this is our favorite sushi restaurant in Kingston hands down! Amazing staff (seriously!), incredible service (so clean and on top of it) and delicious quality sushi (consistent, great portion, well presented).

If I had to eat one food for the rest of my life it would be sushi. Needless to say my obsession with sushi is ridiculous, and SIMA SUSHI is my go-to Japanese restaurant in Kingston. I have been eating here for years and it never disappoints; fast service, fresh product, and good value. Special shoutout to the butterfish sushi, salmon sushi, spicy tuna rolls, and Sushi Dinner B combo!!!

Great quality sushi, but a little pricey

Delicious sushi (I especially love the spicy salmon rolls). Don t try to call at peak hour on the weekends to put in an order though, you might be waiting a while! Plan accordingly!

Great food, quite a response

Longish wait time (didnt call though so that was why) but it was the sashimi that made me drop 2 stars. The first was a shrimp and then there were 3 others, the shrimp was really good but the salmon was chewy and tasteless, I couldnt tell what the other 2 were but one mightve been a white tuna, and that white tuna had a terrible taste and the texture of squid, but it definitely wasnt squid, the California rolls where really good and the shrimp really was amazing, but the raw fish in the sashimi was terrible.

My husband and I tried Sima today for the second time because our go-to (O My Sushi) was closed. It cost us more for less food but we were hungry enough to give it a try. It was okay - of the four rolls we got, two were alright and two were edible but not very good. None of them were as good as any of the rolls we normally get at O My Sushi. I know lots of people like Sima but for us, its just not great. Too expensive for sub-par sushi.

Whenever we visit Kingston we eat here. With covid, they dont have a dine-in option, so we took dinner back to our hotel room. I thought the food would lose some of its deliciousness en route. That wasnt the case. My partner had the salmon teriyaki dinner. Tender, generous portion with lots of steaming veggies and rice. He raved about it. I had the miso soup, salad and an assortment of veggie-only sushi. Yummy! With many Japanese food options in Kingston, this continues to be our favourite.

Guess it was over hyped for me. Pretty standard sushi. I also did not like the white fish and dont like cucumber so that didnt help. More like 2.5 star, we found the pieces quite small, a little pricey and of course you need to plan ahead with ordering. I have a feeling things here have changed in recent times...

But as of Oct 22, 2020, their prices are 20% higher than shown on their online menu. $5 items are $6; $10 items are $12, etc. I explained this to them when I picked up my takeout. My bill was $10 higher than it was supposed to be. Calculate what the total should be and confirm the price before ordering.

Incredible food. Best value for money in terms of sushi. For example, the sushi pieces were so long they were basically double-sided. The takeout bag was fully stocked with everything you need. Not sure if this happens all the time but I received a complimentary side-salad. Get a 5 star by opening your dining room.

During the couple of years I lived in Kingston, Sima Sushi has been my go-to sushi staple. Sima is definitely one of the best options in the city - the fish was always fresh, the sashimi in thick, thick cuts and everyone was so very friendly. I made an effort to always bring my parents here, and they loved Sima as much as I did. The other non-sushi options, such as the gyoza, chicken teriyaki, etc. is pretty good too.

Ordered take out and was very disappointed. Rolls are tiny, very expensive and flavourless. I paid $30 for three rolls to feed three people. Barely fed one. Wouldnt eat there again.

A friend convinced me to order from here and I got the jalapeño maki! Extremely delicious and full of flavour. I will definitely be ordering from here again :)

Great sushi place. They dont do dine in, but I always take my parents to this place when they are in town. Cannot recommend a better place. Green Dragon is the way to go !
