I've been to Pat's before but I preferred Royal Angkor when they were open. I tried the dishes I used to get at Royal Angkor at Pat's. The Siam Delight is slightly different (probably less sweet) but still as good. I didn't enjoy the Golden chicken as much. There was either too much white meat or it was a little on the tough and chewy side. The sauce was also not as spicy as Royal Angkor. The owner/staff has always been friendly. The atmosphere is hard to judge as it's take-out only now and I assume has been so since the pandemic. This restaurant is not accessible but the staff seem friendly enough that they would bring it out to you if you have accessibility needs.
I first discovered Pat's when they were located on Division and Elliott St some 12+ years ago. I have always ordered the same appetizer and dish; Cambodian spring rolls and the #6 Golden Chicken. The rolls are small but hearty and come with fresh cucumber, carrot, and what I believe is nuoc mam, the sauce for dipping. The Golden Chicken dish is intensely aromatic and the combination of spices/ingredients mend together beautifully. The mild sweetness followed by a bold sour/spicy flavor and zing of lemongrass, of the "dry" curry, covers the generous portion of tender chicken thighs. The freshly blanched/steamed green beans, roasted peanuts and cucumber elevate the texture of this dish. For an extra kick in spice there are a couple deseeded green chilies that can be discarded if desired. This dish comes with a big portion of steamed rice and is inside the container with the chicken. They include napkins, plastic utensils and fortune cookies in their take out bag. They have packets of hot sauce available that you can request when ordering. This dish has always been consistent in flavor, taste, and portion size. I can't speak of the other dishes on their menu because I only order this. I enjoy this take away at least a couple times a month and what I really enjoy is that I get two meals out of it, it's actually even yummier the next day!
Take out only. The Cambodian spring rolls are filled with mostly meat, and it was well stuffed. Good crunch. The dip doesn't add much flavour. Their pad thai was pretty good. Tried their special menu item for light green chili curry with chicken and pineapple, and it looks a little daunting but the flavour was great. It had 6 decent sized chicken fillet pieces that were tender and moist. It was definitely not spicy despite having many pieces of green chili in the curry. Overall, it's a good dish to try.
This is hands down my favourite Thai place! It always tastes so fresh and homemade! My favourites are the vegetarian pad Thai (in photo), and chicken satay. It’s always prepared quickly for pickup and taste is 10/10. I’ve tried many places being from Toronto, and nothing compares to pats.
This place is SO GOOD. I have had such a hard week and I went here on my way out of town to grab a treat for dinner. This really cheered me up. The food is so fresh and flavourful - amazing value. They are also so friendly.
Absolutely delicious! The service is great, super friendly and quick both times I went. Ordered the red curry tofu and green curry tofu. The tofu spring rolls are also quite nice. They're both so good and the perfect amount of spicy! Only takeout but that's no issue for me :) I love this place! Considering the price, quantity and quality it's definitely in my top 3 restaurants in Kingston.
Incredible food! Large portions and very authentic flavour! Reminds me of my travels to SE Asia. Very fortunate to have a spot like this in Kingston. We appreciate their vegan options as well.

July 5th: I travelled all the way from Belleville to try their top 3 dishes yesterday - and wow, they did not disappoint. Will return again and again for their authentic flavours of Khmer. I was hoping to meet Pat (the owner), but was happy to meet his wife and two sons who went above and beyond with their kindness. Thank you! July 20th: Returned to this place yesterday and bought their Salaw KaKo and Tom Yom soup for dinner and man oh man, I later had a dream I was still eating it. Sooo good, better than my mom s (but we can never tell her that ). Really though, absolute privilege to have met Pat yesterday as he was cooking away, sharing his magic with the Kingston community. Can t wait to come back again!
Excellent service. We drove here from Ottawa and it didnt disappoint! The food is legitimately spicy, which we loved.
Picked up a takeout order and didn t leave a tip. The women behind the counter yelled out as I was leaving Big Tipper . Tip for what? Moving a bag with 3 dinners in it a couple of feet. Not to mention the meals came $65+. Terrible service. Think twice about picking up from here. There are many other Vietnamese places in Kingston without the attitude.

I moved almost 4 hours away and I dream of pats... almost daily. I cant find another place with that FLAVOUR! I sometimes think of making the drive just to gets my favorite red curry chicken. Theres nothing like it.

We used to live in Kingston, and Pats was one of our favourite restaurants. The food was incredible and the people always friendly. The recent article in the Globe & Mail about the owner only confirmed that Pats is a real Kingston institution. Spicy here means spicy: we ve heard other customers complain because it was too much. Ignore them but keep it in mind when ordering.

What a great take out place. We tried this restraunt due to news article on Pat. We love many of his other establishments so we wanted to see the main one! We called at 5:45, to which they told us theyd close at 6 but then proceeded to take our order! The food was reasonably priced and quite delicious. We had the pad thai, the golden chicken, the red curry, and a soup. Overall very well recieved by everyone! Vegetarian options: Many options.

Got takeout from here last night while in Kingston for the evening. We ordered the pad thai, the chicken&pineapple and the mild chicken and they were all absolutely delicious. I wish we didn t live 5 hours away so we could eat here all the time.

The food is excellent - always a delicious meal! The service is also fantastic - I picked up a large order and had my baby with me - the young man working behind the counter helped me to the car with our order and made sure everything was placed well so it wouldn t spill! If youre in Kingston this is a must stop to make! Such an amazing place, staff and obviously the amazing food! Spring rolls are a must, you would be missing out on what heaven is if you skip this dish! Dont just get one order of 3 you will be wishing you ordered 2 ordered even if you make yourself sick for being a glutton. Also Dont worry about breaking one of the ten commandments! God will totally understand and give you a pass on this one!!! I would give this place 12 out of 10 stars

Very upsetting in the light green curry we ordered for take out tonight. Where is the sauce? My boyfriend always gets this dish and loves it. We were very disappointed in the little amount of sauce which holds all the flavor, very bland. Pats is one of our favorite restaurants, so I just wanted to share this with you.

The golden curry is mindblowing. Didnt really like some of the other dishes that much but nonetheless a great place to get your fix and I am happy with the quantities as well. I hate it when the other south asian places give me a tiny portion of rice that barely fills me up. Oh and be careful with the spice level you ask for. the appetizers are good too..

Great food but inconsistent. One order youll get adequate amount of curry sauce, the next it looks like they forgot to add it? Wish I knew what I was getting each time. It looks like previous reviewers have had a similar experience. If you are ordering a curry dish, you expect curry sauce...
We were passing through on route to Toronto, and my friend insisted on stopping there for take out. I soon saw why. I ordered red coconut curry with tofu. The curry incredibly creamy yet spicy an explosion of flavours.. The rice was fluffy, the tofu like silk. The spring rolls were crunchy and some of the best that Ive had. Delish! Pat is a talented chef. Dont let the forgettable exterior fool you. The food is anything but. Highly recommend.

Absolutely delicious. Be warned, if you ask for extra spicy, they don t mess around. I was pouring sweat two bites into my tofu and pineapple. But there s more than enough flavour to stand up to the heat. My wife got the eggplant and spicy tofu special which was also incredible. Very kind and helpful dude working the front counter. Already looking forward to my next meal at Pat s Restaurant.
Super fair prices and really big portion sizes. Often one dish will last 2 meals, or I can split it with my partner. Cambodian spring rolls are super delicious! Their spicy is very spicy....

Best Thai food in all of Kingston, I have yet to find anything that compares to this place. Everything Ive tried of the menu if delicious, Ive yet to be disappointed. Great price for HUGE portions and AMAZING food.
The tofu dish (#19) is really something else, and has absolutely stood the test of time. We used to eat here regularly back in 2013-2014 (and always got the tofu dish) and we made the drive back into Kingston partly just to eat this dish. Id happily drive 4 hours again to eat here!
Hands down best authentic Thai food in Kingston! I usually alternate between (#1) Phanaeng Kai and (#6) Golden Chicken. Warning- the dishes are fairly spicy so keep that in mind. The portion sizes are huge for such a great price. The staff are always kind and service is usually pretty quick depending on if you re ordering at peak time. Would recommend!

My hubby used to work across the street from their old location, so he has literally been eating here for 17 years! Authentic Cambodian cuisine with curries, chicken, noodles, pork, spring rolls and SO much more! My hubby always orders the #15 Pad Thai Si Kai and it is INCREDIBLE! I almost cannot believe that I lived in Kingston for almost 2 years and never tried this amazing gem until now! I had the Vegetarian Tofu and Pineapple and it was absolutely delicious!! All in all, Pats restaurant is a great spot for delicious, authentic, and affordable Thai/Cambodian food! The staff are all super welcoming and friendly, and one can feel the incredibly warm vibes that resonate throughout the restaurant! Had a spicy stir fry and it was actually spicy. Im in a spicy sauce club so i should know. My foodie partner had the pad thai and it was noted to also be good. Descent atmosphere, cool setting. Reasonable prices. Would recommend to all.

My boyfriend loves the chicken dish but Im vegetarian and the tofu dish is just that...tofu and noodles, if they actually had vegetables in their food it might start to be nutritious and worth my while. Until then hes going without me!

Best restaurant in Kingston. Many restaurants make the famous #1 although Pats is hands down the best!! I recently introduced my 16 year old daughter to the #1 (mild version).. she absolutely LOVED it! Unlike anything shes ever had.
Pats has some of the best food I have ever encountered, period. I first discovered him back in 2000 when he was operating one of his prior restaurants called Phnom Penh. I was blown away at how amazing the flavours and spices game together in his dishes. I was blown away back then and still am to this day whenever I eat his food. I live in Toronto now and always take the opportunity to get some take out whenever Im in town. His food is worth driving hours for. So please do yourself a favour and visit Pats Restaurant if you havent yet already!
Best Thai food in town, I haven t been anywhere that could compete. A friend travelled in Thailand for several weeks and found the food from Pat s comparable to the best food she had there. The Phanaeng curry, yellow curry, pad Thai are all great, and I m looking forward to trying more dishes, as my boyfriend and I go to Pat s at least once a month! They are also very helpful in letting you know if a dish might be too spicy. If you re not looking for spicy, the phanaeng curry can be made mild, and the pad Thai is not spicy. But if you do like spicy, they will deliver!
Worth it for the Golden Chicken
Unhappy! Warning to vegetarians and vegans. Please know what goes into your food, especially if you have restrictions! My husband and I are vegetarian and vegan respectively. We ordered twice from this place and my husband had explicitly asked over tehe phone whether the vegetarian items on the menu contained any fish, eggs or meat of any kind. We were told all the items were vegan. After tasting it, I was very doubtful that it did not contain fish, something tasted off. I called them up again WHILE I was eating it and they tell me Oh the Green curry does contain fish paste, so just watch out for that one. Needless to say I was sick to my stomach. We will not be ordering from this place again.
Ordered the red curry (tofu) and panaeng (chicken). Severely disappointed - way too hot and barely any veggies except cooked carrots and warm cucumber. Too spicy to even enjoy and we have lots of experience with spice ! Would not return after having the authentic thing in Thailand !

The food is usually sizzling hot, so I can confidently say it is freshly prepared every time. All the staff are really polite and caring. I order extra spicy and the servers usually warn me when I order my food. I have tried most of their dishes and like every single one of them. During peak hours I have waited upwards of 30 minutes to receive my order but the food has always been worth the wait. Highly recommend this place.

The Best Thai Soup anywhere period. Great family run business very friendly, good atmosphere. I always order Tom Yum (soup A) and Green Curry (soup E) . Soup E is the spicy one, I keep a box of tissues while I eat because it makes my nose run.

What to say except can someone please bottle the smell of this place and make it a perfume!? As soon as you step in the amazing aroma hits you and makes you hungry. The soups looked amazing and huge. I ordered something totally out of my wheelhouse and didnt care for it to much but that was just a poor choice I made. There was so much other great food I could have picked that was more to my taste. Also for the tofu dishes, their tofu is super soft and melts in your mouth if that is not to your taste you can ask for it fried. Portions are huge, price is right, and the other people in my group LOVED their meals. The dining room is a little outdated but when you see the food getting pumped out of this kitchen you wont be looking at the decor.

When you approach the outside of Pats Restaurant on Princess Street, you may ask yourself Is this really the 4.7 star restaurant I saw online? Yes, yes it is! When we arrived half the tables were full by the time we left the tables were all full and there was a line up and multiple people had been in to pick up. Red Curry anything and the spring rolls were amazing - enjoy! We also had PadThai which was good but the cashew chicken was a little uninspiring. Service was friendly and efficient. Will definitely go back anytime we are in Kingston.

The pad Thai was beautiful looking but in general I dont enjoy pad Thai as one of my favorites. My dad said he enjoyed it, but I wasnt really able to judge by just a few bites. My least favorite of the 4 entrees for sure.Mom ordered number 5, a chicken stir fry. It was in a yellowish curry like sauce. It didnt seem flavorful at first but after a few bites it really grew on me. I ended up eating the rest of the sauce after she had finished all the veggies and chicken.
