The sweet and sour chicken was weak. And it was kind of bland too. It's definitely more of a bar than a Chinese restaurant. But bar tender and location, everything else was perfect.
The wings are ridiculously good. Fun bar good pours and really good food. Did I mention the wings.
I travel a lot and will look for highly rated places to have lunch/ dinner when I want to get out of my Air BnB for a bit. I usually don’t eat Americanized Chinese food b it’s often fried and oily. They just happened to be near the park I was going to hike in and got decent ratings. DO NOT regret it one bit! They accommodated extra vegetables and light sauce, cooked the vegetables perfectly! And offered a house chili sauce. It was so yummy! The atmosphere is a bit bar like, but I read in one of their responses to a review that that was point. They are looking to be unique, and that’s exactly what I look for! Loved the experience! Also noticed there were a lot of locals, which is a testament to their popularity. I’m walking back over for my dinner for the rest of the week!
My partner and I have made the stop into Emerald Garden a few times, and we totally love the atmosphere. The dim lit ambiance and red decor remind me of almost a speakeasy type vibe, and with Budda all nestled in the corner of a booth, it compliments the restaurant nicely. The food is absolutely amazing, and I feel like Amber and I have a new favorite place to have drinks. listen to music, and eat delicious Chinese food. The potstickers were really good with the dipping sauce. The salt and pepper shrimp, house chow mein, and chicken and veggie stir fry was all very delicious and big portion size. One thing is for sure, when you visit Enerald Garden, you had better bring your appetite along with you. Best Chinese food I've had in a very long time. The service was great. Matt is a very good guy, and we had fun getting to know him and other patrons who frequent this location.
Small bar but the service and food were excellent. Egg Foo Young was delicious, Mongolian Beef and House Chow Main were also excellent. The Won Ton soup is a must try if you are craving soup on a cold night.
Excellent Chinese take out from the back of a dive bar. The place is hidden and is best ordered to online for take out. It is also possible to eat in the bar and you will be transported into a scene from a 1960s noir movie. Highly recommended for the experience. Note that this is a bar 21 and older as per WA law.
Kirkland's best Star Wars bar. characters welcome
The lounge is small and intimate. The bartender is personable, attentive, and all around amazing. We were hesitant to order food as no one else in the lounge was eating, but we gave it a chance. This is the best Chinese food I’ve had on the Eastside. We ordered hot & sour soup, pot stickers, and schezwan crispy chicken. This is a new favorite and we will be regulars in no time.
A nice restaurant & bar. Nice people and wait staff. Parking: After waiting way too long we received this. It was supposed to be the House Chow Mein. The only problem is it contained almost no beef, no broccoli and no other protein. Sad, the food used to be good.
The food and drink here is excellent. Very divey but so good.
Bland, oily food. Took more than an hour to prepare for a tasteless delivery.
Great food and staff.
Laurie & Maddie ate great bartenders!
Food is average, but the people are great.
Love EGs!!!!
Wasn t greeted, walked in the whole room looked at us like we didn t belong, really unwelcoming.
Amazing grub and better atmosphere, Lori was amazing!
Always a good time. Food rocks and good pours.
Food is fine, but whatever you do, DONT GO ON THURSDAYS!!!!. OWNER IS THE BARTENDER ON THURSDAYS AND HES AWFUL!
Great service! Amazing food!
Went there at 3pm. Waited over 48 minutes for 2 orders & it wasn t even busy in there. I guess they don t care if customers wait almost an hour for food. We will not be going back there.
Yeah, not the best taste. Seems like meat was from a few days back. Noodles were dry
Very Nice and cozy lounge with great service. A fun place to gather with others for various occasions.
Its kinda a dive bar. But the Chinese food prepared on the premises is 1st rate. I go there on a monthly basis to take out the best Chinese food in town the staff & customers are friendly
Sorry but the food was such a huge disappointment. And I wont be returning. Honesty helps improve results for the future.
Very good food, they use white meat for chicken dishes & no msg. Friendly service too
Friendly staff, booze is cheap, portions are large. This is much more of a bar than a restaurant, good for a snack but dont expect food thats too nice. Food : 4/5
The regulars have been coming back for a while. Its certainly a dive, but the food is well worth a trip. If you like Americanized Chinese and a few stiff drinks (and dont take yourself too seriously), youll absolutely love this spot. Kid-friendliness: This is not a kid friendly establishment.
As far as classic hole in the wall bars go, this may be one of the best on the Eastside. It s dark, usually sports on the tv, and a tad smokey from the regulars coming/going between cold beers. Don t worry; it s all part of the allure. The food is quite good! I personally prefer dining in versus take out, but I certainly made good use of the take out options during the pandemic. Personal favorites include pot stickers, bbq pork, and both the house fried rice and the house chow-mien. Parking: There is PLENTY of parking most days, especially after normal business wraps up with some of the neighboring businesses.
Always amazing food and quality service!(unless Matt is Bartending...He wont give you water...) You get the small bar feel because the bartenders know practically everyone who walks through the door. The house fried rice is amazing or the sweet and sour chicken or the orange chicken. Or you can just take a look at the Menu and pick anything from it, I guarantee your taste buds will be tantalized!
Cheap place, low quality food. Shannon, bartender was amazing though. Food quality and presentation
Worst Chinese food I have ever had. Server was awesome however.
Friendly staff. Food is okay strong drinks! Thanks guy!
We went late and the kitchen was closed but the bartender Lori, was kind enough to fire up the fryer and make chicken tenders and fish sticks and fries for us and we bought a few drinks from her and she was really helpful in mixing drinks for us. It was our first time there and we really enjoyed it. Theres a music playing device nearby that you can play music thru for a small cost.
Typical asian restaurant bar.
Surprisingly good Chinese food even though it looks like a bar. Good customer service. But prices have gone really high recently.
Great place with awesome employees and patrons.
FINALLY I found another good Chinese spot. This is really great food. Cool little bar in there also if you wanna get some drinks with friends also. Very pleased
Cool
We had por stickers with sauce, very yummy. And we had the house lo mein with chicken, bbq pork and beef and shrimp totally awesome. Great service, and friendly. Its now our go to place.
Walnut shrimp, house special won ton soup are delicious. Freshly made by the owner Sue.
Just a chill place
Great Food and Drinks!!!
Loud but friendly service
Really good Chinese food, try the garlic fried chicken wings, D Lish. I ve had just about everything on the menu and it s all good. Great drinks too...
This place is awesome great drinks and bar representative was so immaculant. I. At this place when I need comfort and meet great new people.
Great drinks, friendly staff!!
Love this place. Definitely my home tavern. Drinks are good and food is fantastic. Atmosphere is mellow and tends to serve to the older crowd. I do whole-heartedly recommend.
Food was good and the bartender/server was great. Chow mein was delicious, the sweet and sour prawns was a little chewy but the sauce was good, and the Mongolian beef was different than what I am used to but very good. I got food to go but while I was waiting watched the bartender welcome several regulars by name and even remembered each persons drink. She took, orders over the phone, tended the bar and even offered to bring food out to my car if I didnt want to wait inside. Cant wait to try other things only thing missing was family meal options only a la carte ...
Fun place where the locals hang out.
They have really clean the place up and its not a bad place now
Great food and friendly vibe, highly recommend to visit the lounge when Megan is bartending!!
Ordered two dishes and a side. When picking up I discovered they were charging significantly more than advertised online on their web site. When I got home I found out they put the wrong protein in one of the dishes and it was not as ordered. The food was mediocre to say the least.
The food has really improved here from what its been previously. Good work.
GREAT food!!! The crispy chicken dishes are exceptional and the chef really knows what she s doing! Thank you for the delicious food and friendly service. Will absolutely come back again and bring friends.
Good stuff
Great food. Laurie is awesome.
Friendly staff and customers makes you feel at home. In addition, the owner is the cook of very surprising Chinese dishes. Try the gourmet Egg Foo Yong...yummy! Also has a Full bar
Best dive bar in town! Great crowd, consistent drinks and the food is great too!
Got szechuan prawns were grossly sweet and not spicy.
Good food. Stiff drinks if your looking for them. Dive bar scene.
Great music tonight. Good crowd, good food
Friendly restaurant/bar with great drinks and food. The food is very well prepared using only the best fresh ingredients.
Perfect!
Food is amazing
My husband and I had talked about eating at Emerald Gardens, but hadnt taken the opportunity to until last night. What a mistake to wait. The food is fantastic! The food is ordered Ala carte. We started with pot stickers and soup, the special Chow Mein and Sweet and Sour Prawns. Everything was delicious. The meat in the Chow Mein was tender and plentiful. The Sweet and Sour sauce not artificially colored. The Prawns were tempura. The pot stickers were perfectly cooked. The service was spot on. My water glass was always full. The bar tender was the server. She was a delight. Please try this place. The only problem is that it is for 21 and over. BUT there is takeout!
Great and fast service. Food was very delicious.
They got our order completely wrong We ordered carry out. We ordered Shrimp fried rice and Chicken lo mein. We got two be order oflo mein and one piece of chicken. We wont be going back.
I went to get food tonight and not only was the food wonderful but I met so many friendly people. Such wonderful service that even if the food wasnt so wonderful Id go back.
Excellent restaurant with a super fun dive bar attached. The locals are right out of central casting.
Nice dive bar, good food with regular folks that just want to hang out for a few hours and share a story or two
Best Chinese-American food, hands down. Everything is amazing but my favorites are the hot and sour soup, Sichuan crispy chicken, and mapo tofu.
They did not have my order in the computer so after waiting 50 minutes, I waited another 20 in the parking lot. The food was meh.
The orange chicken tastes like it was frozen, the fried rice tasted bland. I honestly didn t know if I should let my kids eat this for fear of their safety. I know that sounds extreme, but this was bar food, with uneven slices of carrots thrown in. Go anywhere else.
Emerald Garden is great! Amazing food, great service!!
Great Chinese food! Just dont order the kung pao chicken. They dont serve it with peanuts and also doesnt look like kung pao either. Its their own version. Other than that its a fantastic place to be and eat. Everyone is very friendly! Ill definitely be back!!
Great food, awesome peoples, Our favorite cozy spot to play the jukebox!
Love it
Spooky
Real people, real place. If you are fake or have a better than anyone attitude, dont ruin the place. Food +++
Awesome restaurant great services great drinks thank you for a really good time highly recommended sincerely TJ
The only place for serious drinkers
Very cheap
Ive been going here for as long as I can remember. It is definitely changing tho. Not good or bad, just changing. It is almost a new crowd every time we seem to go. Everyone seems nice and all, but lots of the main Gardeners have either moved or passed. It is getting a little younger of a crowd nowadays. Plus, no more cheeseburgers :( Fish n chips w fries are super yummy and the drinks are fantastic.
Best Chinese food on the entire East side. Always fresh, super friendly staff
This is a place for hanging out with fun drunk people and nothing more.
Sue cooks some mean Ma Po Tofu, and the bartenders are amazing. The Cheers of Kirkland.
Good local bar
Love laurir
Customer service is excellent. The wait staff are so friendly and polite. I can never think of going to another restaurant in this area.
It needs to be emphasized- this is a local dive bar (not a bad thing) that happens to serve ok Chinese food. This is NOT a restaurant. You will be surrounded (very closely in very tight quarters) by very drunken, very loud bar regulars. Food is fairly good though it takes forever (45+minutes).
Fun place . great food . and a cheers bar environment
Food want bad, but getting it was confusing since I didnt realize I had to go through a bar to get to it
I came in and it was more like a bar then any Chinese restaurant Ive ever seen in my life. And the food reflected it. I order the General Tso and it was all dark meat and very chewy. The bartender was nice that i ordered from but the place was pretty trashy looking. From the review some of the stuff I guess taste good but what I got was terrible and $12 for the general so after taxes.
Was looking for some really old fashioned Chinese food. The kind of place with family combo dinners, real basic. This is more of a bar, with a little restaurant as an afterthought. The food was ok, the service was great, and it was a fun people watching experience.
Excellent service, relaxing, fun environment!!! Marianna is an excellent, very professional and friendly bartender!!!
Im just kicking it, with a friend! Nice drinks, reasonably priced! Theres an older crowd, oldies but goodies! You can play old tunes on the jukebox!
The owner sue, very rude! Belittles employees infront of customers.
Wonderful neighborhood dive with friendly people.
Do not judge this book by its cover. Food is fantastic, best dumplings and crab Rangoon in east side.
Showed up at this joint for a little get together with the boys. Mah boys ordered , I order soup... Ducked up man, ducked up. I walked outta that place a new man
Could not believe it almost 10 dollars for fried rice opened up take out at counter rice was 3quartes full told person at counter wanted rice full in small container they refused to fill it up ! Stay away from this dive these people that are giving this place good reviews must be drunk? that is why! Check out the restaurants front lights burnt out -to cheap to repair! this place is a dive!
Emerald Garden has the best Crab Rangoon, hands down! The food overall is very good and better than any of the other Asian/Chinese restaurants in Kirkland, excluding Japanese.
