Great China Restaurant in Kirkland

It is a small roadside mall chinese restaurant. Great food. It will be my chinese restaurant of Redmond, Kirkland area.

The first time I ate there the food was delicious looking forward to going back

Just an outstanding place for GREAT Asian food, so good--especially the sauces

Wide range of delicious choices, prepared consistently well and served with care. The atmosphere is indeed a strip mall, so its not fancy, but it does have booths and they are comfy. The 2nd generation daughter was running the entire front of the house well, the place filled up but wasnt super crowded. This place is quick to get to from Bothell; well be back!

Very friendly staff but Very expensive for unseasoned frozen shrimp. Not quite what I expected for the price.

A Kirkland favorite. Grew up in Kirkland and eating Great China. Live in Redmond now, and still get our takeout from Great China.

I just visited and the new lady at the counter is rude. She was on her phone when I walked it the restaurant was dead so Ill let that pass. She didnt greet me and looked at me like I was an annoyance. Typically I would have left but my daughter loves their food so I ordered. Food taste average for Chinese take out and at least its made fresh to order. The lady her name is C treated the 2 Caucasian males that came in after me with better customer service. So if you are Caucasian, or Asian Im sure she will give you the best customer service she can offer. For everyone else dont waste your time. She also will watch to see if you tip.

Best Chinese ever

I dont want to be too mean because they were very friendly. but the food was quite disappointing. everything was absolutely swimming in sauce, just drowned. I ordered a spicy dish but it wasnt spicy at all and everything was instead really sugary. didnt do it for me.

Our favorite place for Chinese food, large portions always lots to bring home for lunch and dinner the next day. Staff is very friendly and polite. We come at least twice a month. Parking: Strip mall, lots of parking.

Went recently because some family was looking for a decent Chinese place, so I recommended it and they were blown away. Not very good food, outdated interior and unconvincing service. I do not understand the positive reviews especially from customers that have patronized this place for many years. I must say that the only thing is that in the past 9 years they have been very consistent at underwhelming me. Pseudo frozen dinners from the Safeway across the way are about the same in taste but most likely less healthy.

This is the only place Ive been to here in Washington where they make the wontons just like they did in NY. There isnt a bad thing on the menu. Their spicy dumplings are to die for - just put the preperation-H in the freezer the day before.

Had the Kong pow chicken and I chewed on huge pieces of chicken fat which was literally disgusting. Called them and let them know. They vallede.back later and returned my money for the Kong pow chicken.

Best Chinese food for my cravings. Always the best option. Service is fast and direct, prices are amazing for portion size.

I moved here in 1999 and have been a customer since. I ha e moved to other states and still have not found a Chinese restaurant that even compares..as soon as I moved back home to Seattle in 2014 I went straight to Great China. I live in Renton Nd still will take the drive to get my Orange Chicken, shrimp fried rice, house chow mein, and my prawns. I love the owner and stuff. I know them all by name. Love you guys. Kid-friendliness: I love all of you guys. Great service, fresh everytime.

Very little flavor in the dishes we tried (beef and broccoli, veggie fried rice, kung pao chicken). Have tried to like this place a few times but not going to spend any more money here unfortunately. I wish it was tastier, but honestly- trader Joes frozen meals are better than this.

Tasty Chinese delivered fast !

I went yesterday to take out some food and they were serving people who came after me and left me there waiting for more than 30 minutes. My food was served cold and gave to me only when I asked to be reimbursed. I felt very disrespected. I m not going to order here ever again.

Weve been coming to Great China Restaurant since they opened in 1993. Family-owned and -operated, they make generous family dinners fresh while you wait.

Great portions! Maybe a little too much breading on the shrimp, but the hot and sour soup was the bomb!

I have been a customer since 2014, and have had only positive experiences here. The owner goes out of her way to provide a great atmosphere for the most excellent food that is served. My wife and I always look forward to dining here.

Too greasy....

Portion sizes are very generous. Enough for at least 2 meals. I really enjoy the individual meals because you get a variety of food. Inside isnt anything special but the food is yummy.

Ordered Kung Pao Chicken and Orange Chicken. Neither of them were good. Kung Pao Chicken tasted liked boiled vegetables and chicken. Orange chicken had overly breaded pieces of chicken. Ordered 4 star for spice level and it tasted like 1 star.

Had dinner here Wednesday around 8:45. Food was delicious and the service was very friendly and attentive. Would recommend for authentic food and good service.

For a very good price, you get a large portion of food that is delicious. The restaurant is clean. I recommend to visit. We had Szechuan beef and Orange chicken.

First time eating there and I sure hope it is not the last time. The most impressive part about dinner here was the quantity of food for the price. Lots of food left to take home and when the food taste this good, left overs are desired. Two of my girlfriends were out for the day on a day trip. They surprised me by picking me up for dinner. They gave me a few choices of kinds of food. One of my girlfriends is a strict vegan and the other is like me and will eat anything that taste good as long as it is not super unhealthy. When given the option for Chinese food, I decided dinner would be Chinese food and my vegan girlfriend picked Great China Restaurant because she has ate here before (she lives in the area). My vegan girlfriend ordered vegan food options that she greatly enjoyed. My other girlfriend and I ordered one of the combination family meals. We could not believe how much food was brought to the table which really impressed me. And the taste of the food was wonderful. I live in Burien and wished the Great China Restaurant was closer. The Chinese Restaurant I went to for 40 years in Burien sold and I have been looking for a great Chinese Restaurant for a few years. I cant wait to be back and eat at the Great China Restaurant again. Vegetarian options: They substituted Tofu for my girlfriend to make sure her dinner was a vegan meal.

Always our favorite hole in the wall! This is the only place in the area I come to get Chinese food. Best General Tso s Chicken!

I have to be honest my dining experience was probably up in my top 5 best dining experiences. My friend and I stopped in on a whim last night I was worried about it being a annoyance as it was late right around 9 or so on a Wednesday night But it was absolutely not we were warmly welcomed the place was great, had a very nice ambiance to it and let s talk about the food!! Oh my gosh it was excellent and our service was impeccable the lady Hua was so great and so funny she had us both laughing so good. She made us feel very welcome and like old friends it was so nice and unexpected. I can tell you this with absolute certainty we will be coming back and with a group of our friends next time!!! So in closing I highly recommend to anyone reading this do yourself a favor give them a try, you will not regret it Signed, Kathleen Welever

Fried rice is not usually made with a few peas and soy sauce sprinkled over steamed rice.

Service was great even though they were short staffed. The food was good and cheap, and they had a fish tank as well as a bunch of other decorations like a fan.

Is a great place to spend an evening with friends. Delicious cuisine and excellent service.

I used to go here very often and the absolute best thing was the wontons in chili sauce but they changed something and the food isn t what it used to be and they also raised prices by like a dollar or two on everything so not sure if its worth it coming for me

Delicious! This is your classic general tsos chicken, mongolian beef, fried rice type of American Chinese place. If thats what youre looking for, this is the best place like it Ive found in the Seattle area. I grew up in the midwest and Chinese is comfort food for me, and this is one of the only places around here that does it right. We got takeout and paid around $50 for 3 dishes and soup and the portions were incredibly generous. Well have leftovers for days. Everything we got was great including the almond fried chicken. Ill particularly call out the fried rice, which was actually properly flavored unlike almost every other Chinese place in the area which serve pale almost unflavored rice that you have to drown in soy sauce. This place is going to be a staple for us and I definitely recommend it!

Worst food ever.

Food here is flavorfull. You pick the number of items that you want, and they plate it for you. Usual Chinese food, Chow Mein, Fried Rice, Spicy Chicken, etc. I was happily surprised at how flavorfull the fried rice was. The atmosphere is nothing fancy but very welcoming. Service was good. I would definately go back there.

Food was good but a little sweet on the general tso chicken. Dry BBQ pork on the appetizer platter. Honey walnut prawn was great though! Service was fast! The atmosphere was welcoming but a little out of date. Overall, a good experience.

My husband and I went here lunch on Christmas Eve and were so impressed! The food was awesome, service outstanding, all while they were juggling a million phone orders for the holiday and quite a few customers popping in just like us. The employees were also so wonderful even with all the demand! We can t wait to go back.

We love the food at this restaurant! They have generous portions, fresh ingredients, flavorful preparations, and the meats are always perfectly cooked! Highly recommend the Mongolian Beef, and Family Style Fish. The cherry on top is their friendly service!

I dont know how this place has more than 2 stars. The food is terrible. My lemon chicken is like a fat piece of fried chicken with no taste to the meat portion. Rice was hard from yesterday. Egg drop soup was just dropped in water and no flavor. Waste of money!

If you are looking for big portion sizes Chinese American food then this is the place for you. I could only eat half of the food, it was good nothing spectacular. The fried rice was below average. Soup was good.

I eat here about once a month. General Tsos chicken and their special chow mein are my favorite dishes.

The lunch special is a great deal and the portions are large.

The best Chinese food that Ive had! I ordered the General Tsos chicken and the spring rolls and they tasted amazing. I love that they serve the General Tsos chicken in a good amount of sauce, too. Its very flavorful and you can taste the ginger and garlic authentically. It tasted homemade and not processed like other Chinese restaurants do. The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The spring rolls are big too, which was really good. Everything was delicious! Definitely recommend. You seriously wont be disappointed!

Average Chinese food taste-wise, but the prices are welcoming. Also, I got a bit undercooked chicken, but that may be just bad luck this one time.

This is a clean restaurant with good service and the traditional American menu. The portions are quite generous and so is the grease. :) Seriously, if youre craving greasy American Chinese food, this is your place. Its reliably good, never great. Definitely the best option in the area.

Super quick take out. It took about 10 minutes. The food was great. We ordered general tsaos chicken as well as mongolian beef. Both were fantastic. For soup, we tried both the hot & sour and egg drop. Both were hot and pretty tasty. I saved about half for another meal, there is a lot of food! Highly recommend and will be going back soon.

Food was so good and service was excellent. Called in an order to go but when we got there we were so hungry we decided to eat in. The staff was so accommodating and the food was delicious. They also gave us snacks for our dogs who were waiting in the car for us. We will definitely be back soon!

Ordered chicken wings, orange chicken and chicken lomein. Chicken wings were pretty good, orange chicken had too much breading, some bites were just breading. Lomein was good .

The orange chicken at this restaurant is tops. The chunks of chicken are large and the breading holds up well when reheated. The sauce is ample, sticky, and zesty. As others mention the portion sizes are huge. I can usually get three meals out of the dish. If youre looking for great orange chicken on the east side you need to try Great China Restaurant.

Went with family for Sunday lunch. I had my hopes very high and was looking forward to some awesome Chinese food. They open at noon on Sundays.... So not very crowded. Lots of free parking. The hostess was awesome. The seating and ambience is nice for a quiet lunch. We ordered Kungpao chicken and Jalapeno chicken. My son ordered pork cabbage soup. Food was average or below average. Huge portions but the taste was not so great. Chicken was worse than Panda Express. My kids didnt like it much and we packed most of it. I would not go back for the food. Nothing outstanding really. Maybe if the hostess would have tried recommending a dish..... Things could have been better.

The orange chicken is but the chow mein, fried rice, potstickers, general Taos chicken were all below average, just like someone else explained in their review. Huge portions and a little pricey so just a heads up for that! I think the price is made up from how big the portions are rather than the taste/quality.

Amazing, fresh and made to order food. How do I know? With 20+ dietary restrictions I can eat almost every dish on the menu as each dish is made to order they can modify to your needs. Staff treats everyone like family, everyone is extremely nice and accommodating. Reasonably priced for this size of portion. Dine in hint: you will be served delicious hot tea!

Best chinese Ive ever had, huge portions and amazing staff.

Ordered take out via phone- the gal was super helpful and polite. Said the order would take 10-15 minutes (this was on a Wednesday evening). Arrived in that time span and the food was just being brought out! Again the gal was so friendly, warm, and welcoming. The food was super tasty and as expected. Would recommend and will return!

We stopped in for our daughters birthday and were completely satisfied with our experience. The food was beautifully presented and portions quite large. We will be enjoying leftovers for dinner tonight Everything was so flavorful and the waitress was very attentive. Highly recommended! Dont forget the lettuce wraps.

I ve been here for dine-in and take out and have always had a great experience. The prices are excellent for the portion sizes and the food is delicious - I ve gotten 3 full meals out of the dinner special F! I ordered 3 stars and didn t notice any spiciness so definitely request 5 stars or more if you re looking for some heat.

this 20 year old, owned by the same family, is a hidden gem on the eastside in Kirkland. Their food is always fresh, well prepared and very inexpensive. Dont let the strip mall appearance detour you, they are great!!!

Price, quantity, and serving was good but I couldn t find the taste in food. The chow-mien was saggy, too soft. Mongolian beef was great. Bbq pork fired rice doesn t taste good at all. Freshness is missing in my plate. I dont know what Gordon Ramsay would say to fried rice

Why 4 1/2 stars for this restaurant? We ordered food with spice level 4 on the scale of 1 to 5. But we got the food with ZERO spice level. When asked, we were served with hot sauce and asked us to order level 5 next time. Very poor service too.
