Craving for traditional Bengali food ? Look no further. This restaurant offers Kolkata classics like fish chop, ghughuni, biriyani, Nolan gud rasgulla, etc. my favorite selection from the menu is the Kisha Mangsho i.e slow cooked mutton or goat. This is a traditional north Kolkata dish that is beautifully recreated here. The staff was friendly and answered all our questions. The prices are reasonable with a lot of vegetarian options as well. I would definitely recommend trying this restaurant.

We catered home style Bengali chicken curry and Prawn Malai masala for an event . Home style Bengali chicken curry was ordered off the menu and was cooked and delivered just as I expected it to be in both taste as well as sight. Super awesome . I recommend highly of food from this place - particularly if you want to East Indian delights.

Really nice place in a prime location in Kirkland. We happened to come here when it was less busy than usual and both the host and chef were really welcoming. Had a great convo with the chef. Fun-fact learnt that the chef used to work at Lake Palace a premiere luxury resort in Udaipur, India. Wonderfully unique Bengali (east-India) menu, which is quite different from typical Indian restaurants. They had a ton of vegetarian options. Strongly recommend their street-food section - chowmein, momos. And their desserts are offbeat and taste really amazing too! Must-try!

Been here a couple of times and also brought friends along and all of us loved the Bengali food we tried here. We are vegetarians and had the following dishes here, all of which we liked: 1. Mochar chop (cutlets made with Banana flowers) served with Bengal style mustard sauce 2. Calcutta style Aloo dum Kachori 3. Gur (jaggery) rasgulla made with the authentic Norel gur (date palm jaggery): served warm 4. Kolkatta style tadka daal (served with rice)

It’s very hard to find a good Bengali restaurant outside of Bengal especially in the U.S so I was excited to try this place after a few friends recommended it. The first time we went was during lunch on a weekend and that experience wasn’t great because it was very crowded and the staff was finding it difficult to keep up. We went back after a few months for a weekday dinner and we really enjoyed the food this time. We got the happy hour fish pakoras and Bira combo, the fish fry, mochar chop and the Kolkata style goat biriyani. They were all really good. The chop and fish fry come with a side of Kasundi which is very uniquely Bengali and I highly recommend trying the Mochar (Banana flower) chop.

We ordered Mutton biriyani and kolkata style fish kalia. Mutton biriyani was really good and very close to Bangladeshi style kacchi biriyani (Minus the too much golap jol) and fish kalia was good too. 3 piece kalia was worth the price. Will surely try few more times to explore other items. 2nd review = We tried their gola barir kosha mangsho, kacchi biriyani and double taal tadka. My rating would be 7.5/10. 3rd Review = Went to the store and tried their Daal tarka, mutton biriyani and tea. Food was delicious. 9/10

Update: This place no longer has Bengali/Calcutta food and has become a mediocre (at best) I dian restaurant A group of us, high school friends from Kolkata and our spouses, went to eat lunch here. We were so pleasantly surprised and delighted by the delicious and authentic Kolkata specialties. The warm and personable chef, Sujoy, came out and chatted to us, and told us about his background and the journey that brought him here. This is true Kolkata food, with traditional Bengali dishes like Golabarirs Kosha Mangsho, dimer devil and prawn malai kari, alongside North Calcutta Muslim (ala mughlai) specialties like Chicken Chaap and Kolkata style biriyani - which was as good as any at Royal Hotel or Arsalan in Kolkata. This is a breath of fresh air in a region where Indian food has, for many years either equated to North Indian (butter chicken, tandoori, and yes even that Scottish invention, chicken tikka masala!) Or South Indian dosas and vegetarian thalis. Eater lists Kolkata as a top culinary destination, along with Barcelona and Paris, but this is the first restaurant in our region to showcase the cuisine of that city, and do it very well. I wish I could say I had a favorite dish ( and then open hirer rossogalla comes close) but they were all excellent! We will be back.

Had lunch buffet here. It feels more of a Bengali restaurant so items could taste bit different than usual North Indian food. Had very less veg main course options. 2 types of daal for curry and aalo gobhi dry - that s all. Lots more non-veg options though. Pani pudi water was too bland. Samosa and tea was good. Overall costly ($30 before tax) buffett, okayish food, good ambience and service.

We have been coming to Turmeric Kitchen for the last two years and we have enjoyed the food. We look forward to seeing and trying out newly added menu items each time we visit. The only suggestion I have is to consider having a diaper changing station in the washrooms- the last time we visited, changing our infant s diaper involved more gymnastics than ideal. Keep up the great work on the food and we look forward to visiting again soon!

I went with my friends to this place. We ordered Murghir Laal Jhol - chicken curry. We ate with rice it s really good. It s a perfect curry if you prefer rice. Vegetarian options were also good we had some curry and Tandoori roti. We had pani puri too, the water you get to fill panipuri, that felt like authentic Indian. Goat sheek kabab was Just Ok. Apart from that I really enjoyed this place. Ambience is also very welcoming.

I had a terrible experience at The Turmeric Kitchen. We went in expecting a buffet, only to find out it was à la carte, which was really surprising. The wait for our food was unacceptable; we spent an eternity waiting for it to be served. When it finally arrived, the taste was awful, and I felt it was a complete waste of money. On top of that, the server was inattentive and unhelpful. Overall, this was the worst dining experience Ive ever had. I wont be returning.

I am a regular here for their amazing biryani, but the latest visit on a Sunday was a disaster. I called to check on Friday and they very promptly told me that they have a buffet on Sunday for $29.99. When I reached there on Sunday there was no buffet which was my specific interest for that day and so I had confirmed earlier. But we still decided to give them a chance and waited to be seated for A la carte. However no one attended us for 15 mins and did not even acknowledge our presence. We had to leave and will give some thought if we would visit again for the biryani.

Matter of time, this restaurant will end up closing . Average food , above average price, complemented by low quality service is a recipe for disaster. Mango lassi took 20 mins.. for the rest the less said the better. Hopefully the owner reacts fast and acts on it.

Given this is the only Bengali restaurant in the area, we expected much higher quality of food and services during our favorite time of the year, Durga Pujo. The quality of food has been declining since they first opened and this time we got undercooked mutton. We took our friends from out of station to try your buffet and specially the mutton kosha and have never been so disappointed. They didn t have buffet option. We decided to go for ala-carte. The service was way subpar to worse. Nobody checked in on us since we ordered, our drinks delivered after 20 mins and appetizers after 45 mins, that too after we called them thrice to take our orders and repeatedly kept checking on them on the order status. Friendly advice from a fellow Bengali : Either keep your shop closed or hire more people during rush hours/days. If neither, at least be polite and do you job of hospitality well. Given that, I will say that the appetizers were very good, but the service and food quality overall left a very bitter taste in our rosogolla loving mouths.

Being a Bengali really excited to try out a good Bengali restaurant. We decided to go for buffet. Reached at 2 and the buffet was till 3, but the food was never refilled. When asked for refilling the reception lady argued with us and the other waiters had no answer. After a while they served a bowl of mutton curry with one small piece of mutton and curry. Charging $29 for buffet but they don t refill for the last 1 hour it s not worth of this high price. In buffet food was moderately good the biriyani was good but there was hardly 1-2 pieces of chicken. We also tried few a la carte dishes. The paturi mustard was blant in taste being a Bengali I know it was powder not grinded which is not expected from a restaurant like this. Fish fry was good but the coating was really thick. Hilsa bhapa was amazing I would credit the fish than the curry as they used powder mustard. Finally desert rasgolla and patishapta both were really good.

We ordered kacchi biriyani and Kolkata style mutton biriyani. Both were so good. The amount was more than enough. Kacchi biriyani tasted similar to the Bangladeshi authentic one. Only recommendation would be little less use of Turmeric in it. Mutton biriyani meat was so tender and it was different than the kacchi. Highly recommend the place.

We had dinner. Being vegetarians, we called for - Mochar chop - Paneer Lababdar - Double Dal Tadka - Malabar Parota - Gur Rosgula Everything was better than the previous. This has first time happened with me in the US that I have liked everything on the table. The Dal was the best dal that I have had in States. Also, the dessert was simply the best, not too sweet. Would definitely come back

September 22, 2024

Very tangy food. I ordered the fish fry, which had a very thick coating of bread crumbs and lacked any flavor. The mangsor chap was similar. For entrees, I got the kathal, and it was again overly tangy. The waiter recommended an appetizer, which turned out to be terrible, and when we complained, the manager refused to replace or remake the dish. The dal was also lacking salt. Overall, I was pretty dissatisfied with the service, management, and food quality.

Honestly I m not sure where the good reviews are coming from. The food rating on the door was ok which is a really bad sign. In Washington state they have 4 chances to fix their unsafe food practices before they give them that rating. But we were starving so we decided to give it a chance. The food wasn t the worst I ve ever had but took about 30 minutes. Again we were super hungry so I was almost ready to walk when I saw other people get served before us. But that happens, i get it. They just weren t very busy. The waiter talked over me and as if I wasn t talking and just talked to my husband instead. Very weird. When we finally got our food, it was very just ok. Wasn t the worst food I ever had but I would never pay for it. We got the butter chicken and I would rather make it at home with a jar of the butter chicken sauce that you can get at the store. Also the chicken was bone in which I wasn t expecting, and was not tender at all. That with the tall glass of room temperature tap water and I feel sick. I hate recommending other restaurants in reviews but if you want good Indian food locally, and you probably already know this, but just go to Kanishka only a few minutes away. This place is a similar price and about a fifth of the quality. I know this is harsh but I m disappointed AND it was expensive AND I feel sick

This restaurant specializes in Bengali cuisine and the menu reflects that. I still have a lot more things I wanna try here. But what I got first time was: - Puchka - Fish cutlet - Kosha Mangsho with rumali roti The puchka and fish cutlet were really good and standout over compared to similar things I ve had in other restaurants. Rumali Roti was very soft and buttery, paired very well with Kosha Mangsho. The Kosha Mangsho had a tinge of sweetness but overall good. Service can be somewhat slow though as they had only two waitstaff when I visited. Also the Diet Coke I got from their fountain had a slightly off camphor taste, not sure why. But overall very good food and it s always amazing to have more Indian restaurants that diverge from the super commonly found North Indian/South Indian only cuisine. Update: Went again here and this time the dishes were somewhat of a miss. Got - Momo chili fry - Mustard fish The momo chili fry was only sour and didnt have the other spicy/sweet flavors you usually get. The fish was alright, very mustardy, perhaps just not ofy taste. Also the menu seems to be somewhat changed now and more expensive.

The food was just OK, but too expensive for what was offered. The service was careless in our opinion. 1. We had ordered two entrees, one of which they did not bring with the rest of the food, until we reminded them, and then we got it 15-20 minutes into our meals. 2. They served the wrong kind of bread. We realized that once we tasted it, and asked for the bread we had originally ordered. They charged us for both kinds of bread. 3. The entrees were supposed to come with rice, as we were informed when placing the order. The rice never came. When we asked what happened at the time of paying, they just said they can bring it in boxes then. That didn t make any sense either. When we mentioned that the service was delayed, they said something about dealing with too many in-restaurant orders and online orders. They re probably understaffed. Going to skip this place for a while.

This was our first time eating here at Tumeric Kitchen. We really enjoyed the nice warm greeting from Christian, who is a partial owner with his wife, whom is the master behind the food. This is a nice family ran, fine restaurant which is hard to come by these days. All the menu items stood out to us. I particularly was interested in northeast indian cuisine, so I was excited to see Momos on the menu, but we couldnt resist ordering more of the tantalizing menu items . Full of Bengali and North dishes, we had lots to choose from. We ordered the Kolkata fried fish. It was a crispy thick filet of fish panko breaded, a fish filet that was battered in spices, then double fried, absolutely delicious, Served with a spicy mustard aoili Chicken Momos, which could have easily been mistaken for soup dumplings, because they were so succulent. Bursting with juice throughout. I will certainly be ordering those again, served with a tamarind pepper sauce as well as a chili sauce, blown away. Malabar paratha, flacky butterery ,what more can you want from a yummy bread. Had to try the Karahi chicken, which came w/ plain basmati rice, We also ordered some jeera rice. The chicken was spicy, of course, full of flavor, powered by that karahi masala and beautiful velvety tomatoes, that had been reduced into a silky sauce. We were all going for non veg, so we ordered the lamb seekh kabobs, and boy, were we happy we did. It was juicy, full of aromatic herbs and spices. We can wait to return! Great vibes, too, art all around, love the layout of the seating! Vegetarian options: Traditional Indian veg cuisine Parking: Greatly parking in private parking lot for the restaurant Kid-friendliness: Yes Wheelchair accessibility: Yes

I have visited this place for a-la-carte dinners in the past and generally found the place to be decent, if somewhat overpriced. I might have rated this place between 3 and 4 stars based on those experiences. So why the bad rating? I walked in for a lunch buffet over the weekend with my wife. The place was overcrowded with absolutely no management. I put my name down on the waitlist, and instead of waiting in the overcrowded waiting area, we decided to enjoy the sunny day outside. I provided them with my phone number and was told that I will receive a call as soon as a table was available. I never got any calls. When I returned to check after 20 minutes or so, I witnessed people who had just arrived being seated ahead of us. When I finally found the lady who had taken down my name for the waitlist, she directed us to an empty table. As we were walking towards it, we were intercepted by another lady who, quite rudely, told us to go back to the waiting area. Fortunately, the first lady saw this exchange and cleared up the confusion and we finally had a seat. This was just the beginning though. They kept running out of plates every few minutes so people had to wait forever to get anything or reuse their plates. The food was mediocre at best - at least on the vegetarian side - and they kept running out of a couple of dishes which were somewhat decent. To top it all, we did not get so much as cutlery or water at our table. When I tried to draw the attention of a server, who incidentally was busy chatting with customers on the adjacent table, I was rudely told to wait as she had to serve other customers ahead of us. To be clear, I never asked to be served immediately. I was merely trying to draw attention to the lack of cutlery at our table - once she was done with her conversation. But the server didnt so much as acknowledge my request before interrupting me rudely and walking away. As if all this was not bad enough, we did not get any water until almost the very end of our meal, despite asking multiple times. We were not the only ones. Multiple people were complaining about similar issues. A family who claimed to have a confirmed reservation a week in advance were told that the restaurant was not taking any reservations for the day. While some of this can be blamed on the restaurant being overcrowded - perhaps unexpectedly so - but there is absolutely no excuse for the unapologetic, confrontational and rude tones being used all over the place I wouldnt have recommended the buffet on the basis of food alone, but the mismanagement and rudeness makes it an absolute no go to me. It may be worth a visit at other times for their a-la carte offerings - although those are way overpriced for the quality and quantity of food on offer - but the buffet is an absolute no go. By the way, I couldnt find any mention of the buffet on their website. You have to visit their Facebook page to find out about it - a fact that is not mentioned anywhere on the website. Recommendation: Avoid the buffet at all costs - a la carte may be acceptable as long as you are fine with the massively overpriced offerings.

I planned my anniversary celebration at this restaurant after reviewing the menu prices listed on their website. However, I was shocked when the final bill came significantly higher than anticipated. Each dish was priced $5-6 more than what was shown online. When I inquired about this discrepancy, the staff informed me that they had recently updated their menu, but had not managed to update their own website, although third-party sites were updated. The response was dismissive, suggesting that I should have checked the menu prices in the restaurant itself or verified through other websites, which was impractical given the occasion. Its disappointing not only to face unexpected costs but also to receive such a nonchalant response about the inconsistency. This lack of transparency and customer service has certainly marred our special day, and I caution others to verify prices directly with the restaurant to avoid similar surprises.

We went for lunch - In short words: Great service, Nice ambience, OK food Service: was super nice, the lady (forgot to ask her name) was very patient and nice to explain the dishes, what its made of etc.. and she kept checking on us etc.. Food: we ordered Dimer devil, Kolkata chicken biriyani, Machar something(forgot entire name), gobi manchurian Dimer devil: The best I liked is this - very very flavorful snack! (something i would consider for a next time buy again) Kolkata chicken Biryani: was next - a standard north style biryani, nice fluffy rice, with a sweeter note (than spice). It was nice, had some nice flavor to it (much better and authentic than some of the (north) Indian restaurants out there) Machar in banana leaf: The lady said, its good but Bengali style (i think she was trying to warn me - but I wanted to try local cuisine). So, if u are into intense mustard and turmeric taste buds, then you may like it. Personally, I felt the mustard overpowered the actual dish(fish - the fish had 0 flavor of a fish btw) - so it was just OK for me. I wouldnt buy it next time (coz I only get mustard taste in my mouth). But if that is what is the authentic Bengali flavour, then its one of their best made. Gobi Manchurian: So, this would be debatable. If you are someone who like the street based gobi manchurian (i.e. the one with thick vinegar based (sweet and sour) sauce, then you may like this. I preferred/expected more of an indo-chinese gobi manchurian (i.e. less vinegar based, but soy/sweet/sour/garlic mix if sauces), so not in my next time list. Overall food was OK, and/but portions were less (except biryani - decent portion) - from the dishes I bought, I would rate 3.75/5. But am waiting for buffet to reopen to try out more and see where it would stand.

Try to avoid busy holidays We waited on the table for more than an hour for the food. Once the food started coming, we found a cotton thread inside the chicken role. Naan which we ordered, never came. It was getting late so we finished the food with rice on the side. Food could have been better. This is not the first time, we tried Turmeric Kitchen. Other times we got better taste. Most probably kitchen was overloaded. Will try again but on a day/ time when kitchen can handle it.

We recently went to this Bengali restaurant and had an amazing experience! Definitely recommend if you want to try authentic Bengali food. We ordered fish fry, kochi pathar jhol and we really liked them. And the rest of them (momos, chicken chap) tasted well too. Extremely satisfied with food and service. Give this restaurant a try if you havent already :)

Unfortunately the dish I ordered was too greasy, incorrect preparation? It really should have included chicken breast also, not just thigh/leg, I lost my appetite on it. Nice place. just the food is not good and quite expensive. I dont recommend.

January 22, 2024

Ordered 4 items - two starters, butter chicken and Lal mass. Quantity is hilariously extremely small - does not feed more than 2 people. Quantity of starters especially is really small (two chicken pieces for $15 :O ) compared to any other restaurant within a 10 mile radius. Same gravy for both butter chicken and Lal mass - both of them $20 dishes. Plus the gravy was average at best. This place isnt worth the money. The only reason to go to this place might be Bengali cuisine which given our current experience wouldnt be worth it either. TLDR: Please avoid. Not worth your money or time.

The place & the vibe were pretty good and it was highly recommended by friends for its Bengali food. I wasn t very impressed with the food. A part of the reason could be that their vegetarian options weren t really Bengali cuisine; however, Bengali cuisine has great meat- & fish-based dishes and Turmeric Kitchen seems popular for it! The vegetarian options were more general North Indian food. I ordered the Mochar Chop - it was good and I d recommend it. My only complaint is that it d have been better with some mustard chutney(Kasundi) as opposed to straight up Dijon mustard! I tried the Gobi Manchurian from the specials - it was really delicious! I really wish they d serve more Bengali options for the vegetarian sections. But, don t let that hold you back from giving this place a try - especially if you eat meat and fish!

We used to love this place before it changed owners (last year?) and really wanted to support the new ownership. I totally get it s tough on restaurants and that needs to get reflected in prices somewhat. A 25% premium compared to other Indian restaurants around here is really pushing the envelope our dal dish was good, but the chicken in the tikka massala was ridiculously tough. Tiny (maybe 1/2 cup) portion of rice included for free and the naan was definitely not fresh. Tasted like cardboard as if it was leftover from someone s lunch and given to us. Best of luck to them while they experiment to see if people want to pay this premium. Maybe they re just ahead of a steep trend and we re all about to be paying more everywhere!

Review for Turmeric Kitchen Buffet: We had the Turmeric Kitchen buffet for second time now - once when it opened, and one today. Our experience first day was good, so we returned today -only to realize it is an ok or below average experience for vegetarians 1. Non-veg dishes followed by veggie dishes in the same serving station, where I could see the mix-n-match happening 2. Rasgulla was served in piping hot sugar syrup!!! (Rasgullas are supposed be a cold sweet) 3. Poori and naan were almost non-existent through out the buffet - only few pieces would be added to the tray, and they were gone before your turn comes to pick up in the long queue! 4. Paneer dish was a potato dish with a piece of paneer every 10 pieces of potato! 5. And all of the above for a steep price of $30 per person! I so miss the pre-covid buffet at Kanishka Indian cuisine or other similar places!

Very expensive, I dont know why charging so much, even in Kirkland, you can find so much better food at a lesser price. Short on staff, untrained staff wasting so much time. They couldnt take care of people coming in waiting so long on reception and leaving because no one was attending them. And they were busy doing deliveries. Every staff member was doing everything. So much chaos. The place & sitting arrangement is beautiful but not managed well. So much potential, and they are busy in deliveries.

December 22, 2023

Pathetic dine in experience. We went this weekend for buffet but most of the non-veg trays were empty. Refill was super slow. When asked that items need refill the staff just said yes we already refilled twice and we are refilling but it took more than 20 mins to get chicken biryani and mutton refills. Super bad customer service. I went there twice for Bengali buffet and experienced the same both weekends.

December 22, 2023

This place is mostly a SCAM with prices unreasonable high and the staff extremely poor in customer service. STAY away if you want to save on your hard earned money and also spend it somewhere else with a much better experience. Went for the Bengali buffet twice ( thinking first time was a one off bad experience) and was very disappointed as they are so slow with refills it feels intentional. People keep waiting with empty plates for as long as 20 mins waiting for refills and the staff keep saying we are preparing fresh (even for biriyani) . The lady with curly hair who seems to manage mostly is very rude and completely illogical with her reasoning even though around 5 different customers were complaining on refills. She keeps running around but effectively doing nothing. They almost push it to the end of the buffet and then start with a series of sorry saying there are still veg items or fruits in case they couldn t refill on the main courses and will ask you to return next weekend to ensure they keep getting customers, but won t subsidize you on the bill. Even their alacata experience is pathetic. The are just fooling with the Bengali sentiments as they mention Bengali inspired food , but rumali rotis are just a frozen paratha heated, a claimed so called lancha (sweet) is nothing but gulab jamun with no taste. STAY AWAY and save yourself from an experience you will regret.

We had buffet at this place this weekend. My husband is a Bengali and we have been looking for authentic Bengali restaurant in this area and we thought we finally found one. Truly we were disappointed. This was a typical North Indian buffet with just Bengali names. We had Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandoori Chicken, Naans and Pooris.. ( oops luchis). While the Tandoor items were great, goat curry was tangy. We have had Goat curry earlier here, they were better. Desserts had a strong chemical taste. Poori in Paani poori was not freshly made. There were no fishes. Calling this as Bengali restaurant is just to tap in to the sentiments of Bengali people as they all long for one.

December 22, 2023

My visit on Sunday afternoon in June to Turmeric delight, left me deeply utterly disappointed and shocking. It was an overall disastrous dining experience that I never experienced in the last 11 years, and I wouldnt wish upon anyone to have it. Moving directly on to the service, it was nothing short of abysmal. The staff seemed completely disinterested. They took forever to acknowledge that there were no plates on the buffet table. We had to wait for 10 mins to finally get the plates. When they finally did, they scrambled to fill the food tray. We had to wait on a long queue on a Buffet line for half an hour or so, only to get one tray of Biriyani, mutton curry, chicken tandoori, and an empty tray of dahi vada. With that scarcity of food in a costly buffet, the lack of food made it competitive among the customers, who were coming from all direction to pound on the food trays, when coming out sparsely from the kitchen. The loud ambience music making it all worse for our appetite. We were hoping to get a serene Bengal ambience that could provide superior quality, service, and value for money. Unfortunately this is not the place.

The only restaurant serving authentic (Kolkata ) Bengali cuisine in the whole of USA! I have had their food over 50 times and the quality has been stellar each of the times. The fish fry, egg devil, paturi, biryani, mochar chop, veg cutlet, golbarir mangsho, chingri malai curry are all to die for! They also have delicious North Indian offerings, such as the barista pilaf, lal maas, Rogan Josh, tandoori chicken, kalmi kebab and nawabi korma. Their weekend lunch buffet spreads are also amazing, with a eclectic mix of Bengali and North Indian offerings, where you can try dishes not on their ala carte menu, such as maachher matha diye moog daal, tok daal, maccher jhol and rosomalai, among many others! While there is a very healthy representation of great Bangladeshi food all across the US, this is the only place where an Indian Bengali can feel any degree of gastronomic nostalgia. One feedback is to try and make their indo-chinese offerings truer to the Kolkata versions but thats mostly not picking at this point! The staff are also very friendly and do a great job of catering to the high demand that comes through. The place transports me to restaurants back in Kolkata with its vibe and atmosphere, and the staffs hospitality. A jewel in the heart of Kirkland, and highly, highly, highly recommended!

I have been visiting Turmeric Kitchen regularly since it opened and I have always been extremely satisfied with the food and service. As a Bengali, there are almost no restaurants in the Seattle area that serve Bengali cuisine and Turmeric Kitchens Bengali inspired menu has been a godsend for all my Bengali food craving. Their appetizers, especially Mochar chop, Dimer Devil and Fish Fry are comparable to any Kolkata restaurant. Im also a big fan of their Kolkata Biriyani! Their entrees like golbarir kosha mangsho bring a slice of Kolkata to Kirkland. The weekend buffet menus are thoughtfully crafted with Bengali delicacies like Tok Dal (sour dal), Macher matha die moong dal (moong dal with fish head), pathar mangsho(mutton curry), fish curry, ras malai and more. The staff did struggle with replenishing buffet items in the initial days of the buffet but I have witnessed them take constructive feedback and grow to meet the demand of their customers. While I mostly order their Bengali dishes, I have infrequently tried their other menu items and they are also very well prepared. The nawabi korma, barista pilaf and kebabs have the taste and quality of a top tier restaurant. Apart from the food, I think the service is great, Ive always been made to feel welcome and the staff strives to accommodate special requests to the best of their ability. I keep going back to Turmeric Kitchen and leave with a big smile on my face. Im excited to try the new items they keep adding to their menu, the latest being Kolkata Kati Roll which I havent had the opportunity to have yet.

I am still wondering how this place is running with such sub standard food/drinks but then its Seattle and not BC. Well the food was salty, drinks either too sweet or tangy. Nothing worked out for us. We stayed there until it closed and we were a large group. So I tried almost anything I could. There were only two things that were ok in appetizer- malai paneer and banana fritters. I hope the turmeric kitchen learns from this post and asks themselves if its worth exploring the tastier side of the food it serves.

The spice on the chicken was quite spicy then I expected but it was still very good with a good kick to the flavor with the spice. The service from the staff was excellent and the atmosphere was excellent. The cleanliness was spot on and when you walk in it looks and feels very clean and a great place to dine. The prices are also reasonable for the fried rice I ordered. I can eat quite a bit of food and I still took out the leftovers of the fried rice which shows you the portion sizes. Reading some negative reviews on here, I dont understand how this place is not at least a four or five star review from everyone, everything tasted well and the service and atmosphere was excellent. I have been ordering take out frequently, almost every other week from the Tumeric Kitchen for little over a year. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in the area as it is an authentic Bengali restaurant. But lately their food quality can t be more disappointing. I ordered Kolkata Style Muttoj biriyani two weeks ago. While having the meal I discovered that they had given me old and stale mutton, buried underneath fresh rice. The meat was smelly, and likely to be a day old. I ordered the same dish again today. This time they gave only two small pieces of mutton, two massive potatoes, and a massive load of rices. Extremely disappointed with their gradual degradation of quality. Definitely not ordering or going back to the restaurant again!

It is one of the few places that serves food that is really Indian (and mostly Kolkata) food. Mochar chop (banana flower croquettes/cutlet) was so crispy from the outside and the filling was so tasty with flavors that I associate with Kolkata cutlets. Kolkata style chicken egg roll was another great dish with street style flavors. Lamb chops were so well marinated in green chutney with flavors seeping into the core of the meat. Jodhpuri lal maas was a good bhuna (browned) gravy. I also liked that the food wasnt excessively greasy even for fried items.

We took out from this place a few times, and the food was decent. Recently, we went there for a dine in, the experience was bad. The wait time to be seated was ~15 min. After getting our table, we had to wait for 45 min to get the food. The biriyani was OK (not authentic as it used to be), mutton was delicious. The rumali roti was cold and hard. The service was below par. There were just 1-2 servers in total, making the situation worse. Only a big table (10+ guests) was served, as if rest of the guests were doing them a favor by dining in. We found a strand of hair in our food (see photo), and complained to the server Pooja F. She came and simply shrugged it off, and didn t even say sorry once. This restaurant employees have shown signs of unprofessionalism in the past, but this time they crossed the limits. One should think twice before dining in. You don t get nearly what you paid and tipped for. Not recommended based on three instances (two takeaways, one dine in).

If you are looking for authentic Bengali dishes in Washington, then this is the place for you. You will get the taste and smell of Bengal in every dish you have. Chef Sujoy is a great person, who often mingles with the guests. I can t wait to have more Bengali delicacies be added to the menu.

Very inefficient most of the food unavailable on menu, very long wait for food, too salty, and sweet tasting lamb korma. I would never go back just a waste of time they said wait time is 8 mins but every dish over 25 mins Please do not waste your energies in this restaurant highly inefficient, not mgood management. Kept complaining about having to do more catering not the customers problem, and did not deliver my expectations!!

We wanted to try authentic bengali food and this place is near my place, so chose Turmeric Kitchen. Before we dine in, we wanted to try takeout first, which we usually do. We were planning to order several foods, but with the first order itself gave us a red flag. We ordered Lamb Nihari and asked the lady (Sneha A.) if comes with rice or roti or anything, because usually in other places so far we have ordered, it does come with rice or roti and we can go to a park to eat. But she said there will be extra cost for rice. We dropped our mind ordering other items. We also asked about the size, she said it will be enough for 2-3 person. When we opened it, there was only one piece of lamb in soup. We were very disappointed. The taste was not so good. Nihari usually is very flavorful, soft, full of spicy and oily of course. But nihari from this place was only chilly spicy without flavor. It was not even enough for 2 people. We spent $27.53 for a small piece of unflavorful lamb without rice. So, we will never order from this place again and do not recommend either.

Delicious food with great ambience and service. Their menu has a great collection of authentic Bengali items that are hard to find here in the US. I would strongly recommend Kosha-mangsho and Nolen-gurer Roshogolla; although the Barista-Polao could have been less oily. However, please have realistic expectations about the food, as you wont get Mitra cafe/Apanjans fish fry or Dada-boudirs Biryani, but I doubt any place outside West Bengal would match that taste. Overall, I would strongly recommend this place if you are craving authentic Indian Bengali food in Seattle.

This is the most authentic Bengali high end restaurant that we have came across coming from bay area. They were very polite and friendly. The service was amazing. The food was exceptional. We loved the paturi and chilli paneer. All the dishes were delicious. The best part was the gurer rosogulla. Trust me it tastes like heaven. Will visit again and again and again.. :)
