Welcome to our small family-owned restaurant, where we specialize in comforting Japanese cuisine tailored to both vegan and non-vegan preferences! Our mission is to create a welcoming atmosphere where every guest feels embraced by warmth and hospitality while enjoying our delicious dishes. "Due to the nature of small restaurant with limited capacity, we do not take any reservations nor wait-list through the phone. Walk-in only and fill in your wait-list form as soon as you enter our store if we are fully packed." Don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions, we hope to see you soon :)
We visited this restaurant and ordered Vegan Karaage, Vegan Spicy California Roll, Death by Crunch Roll, Floor's Lava Roll, and Vegan Yakisoba with Tofu. The ambiance, service, and food were all very good. Vegan Karaage - The Karaage was absolutely delightful. It had an authentic taste that reminded us of the Karaage we had in Japan. The sushi rolls we got were super tasty and looked amazing. But, I felt like the sauces for all of them were kinda the same. The way they were made looked different, though. Yakisoba with Tofu - The noodles were very flavorful, and the tofu had a nice crispy texture. They have a whole vegan menu, which is really cool. We had a great time at this restaurant, and we can't wait to go back and try more of their food.
We recently had the pleasure of trying the separate vegan menu at Sushi Kamakura in Kirkland, and it was fantastic! The rolls were flavorful and beautifully crafted, making it a must-visit spot for vegan eaters. This restaurant is truly a local neighborhood gem, offering a great dining experience for those seeking plant-based options. Sushi Kamakura also has a separate sushi menu for meat eaters, which we didn't try, but if the vegan offerings are any indication, it's likely just as impressive. Highly recommend this spot for anyone in Kirkland looking for delicious vegan sushi.
I crave sushi at least once a week. Kamakura Kirkland was delicious! It’s a small spot with limited seating. We ordered the Red Dragon, Boss, and Double Crunch Rolls. My favorite roll was the Red Dragon. 🔥 Service was quick and sweet. Definitely adding to my list of places to revisit.
Definition of a hidden gem! I'm vegetarian and have never had such a wide array of options at a sushi place before. Small place, but kept very clean, the staff are lovely, and food comes out super fast. Crunchy inari and vegan karaage were amazing!
As a vegetarian, this is the best sushi place I’ve been to in Seattle. Incredible selection—a fully stocked vegan menu and everything on it was delicious. They even have tasty vegan meat alternatives. Highly recommend the agedashi tofu, floor is lava roll, and crunchy inari.
The food wasn't as good as I'd hoped from here, but I'll give it a few more tries since they're the closest restaurant to us. Their prices are higher than Bellevue's Sushi InJoy but the quality is inferior from what we've tried so far. The staff here was Korean when we came in, not Japanese. The rice in the maki is too dry and not flavorful, and it's the second time we've tried rolls from here. The tuna on the rainbow roll was especially mediocre which was disappointing as I expected fresher fish. The pork belly yakisoba was pretty good, but the noodles and cabbage were overly greasy. Their agedashi tofu was decent and the bento was fine, too. I'm hoping that our future rolls will be less messy and more flavorful, but we'll probably try the sashimi and nigiri next time as well. The biggest positive is how they cater to food allergies and sensitivities. I love that they have so many vegan offerings to accommodate allergic patrons, but wished their quality and pricing were both better.
I adore this place because of its extensive selection of vegan rolls. The flavors are delightful and mouthwatering. If you enjoy spicy food, I highly recommend trying their vegan jalaspicy rolls and vegan spicy California rolls. Another favorite of mine was the vegan death by crunch rolls – the fried rolls were simply delicious, and I would definitely order them again. Surprisingly, the tofu yakisoba (noodle entree) turned out to be one of our top picks for the day.
Came here after seeing all my fellow local guides leave raving reviews and it did not disappoint. Rolls were delicious and filling. Sushi was really fresh, no fishy smells here. Also HIGHLY recommend the seaweed salad. Waitress was friendly and made sure everything was to our liking. I’ll be back soon to try one of their Bento boxes.
Wonderful food, but very small, so make sure to get there early on busy days
Excellent Sushi and other Japanese vegan cuisine
There is a menu dedicated to vegans. The restaurant is cozy and the service is perfect. And the meals? Without a doubt they are one of the best! We ordered two vegan bento boxes and a vegan crispy roll.
One of my favorite places to go to. Always meets my expectations.
Elite service and elite sushi rolls. One of the few sushi places I regularly return to, always a great time :)
Refreshingly big vegan menu! Food was nice overall, though sushi flavors could be a bit better.
We had a business meeting here, Chirashi bowl was perfect! Highly recommend this place. Best in Kirkland definitely.
Great experience. Seemed like a family run business with all the care for the customer that provides
Came in with my vegetarian friend. The place is small but very clean. The veg options are great. We had a couple of rolls and some edamame. Prices are fair. Would definitely come here again.
Way overpriced and the food isn t very good. We got the sushi bento and the katsu curry bento, the nigiri in the sushi bento was decent but that s about it. The gyoza was mostly hollow, the katsu seemed to have been previously frozen and was soggy, the curry was bland, and the carrot and sweet potato tempura were hard. There is another place called Kamakura in Fremont (entirely unrelated) that is incredible - drive there instead!
6 of us stopped in for the first time after a day of apple picking. Service was excellent and so was the food! We had the cucumber salad, seaweed salad, miso soup, Godzilla Roll, Hawaiian Roll, Hamachi Lover Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, Negihama Roll & Yellowtail Nigri. All were great but we especially liked the Hawaiian & Hamachi Rolls. Would definitely recommend this place!
The food was great the first time. The second time we went Im pretty sure the crab was rotten... and the fish was starting to smell. Unfortunate... hopefully just a one off.
My photo describes it all. See how delicious they look! Definitely going back again!
The waiters are friendly, the American-style sushi is delicious and reasonably priced. The store is not big but there are many customers, which ensures the freshness of the seafood to some extent.
Our new favorite sushi place in Kirkland. Nigiri, rolls, edamame, and miso soup are next level. Service is amazing, warm, and friendly. Abundant parking. Highly recommend! Parking: Abundant parking
TL;DR: good for ToGo. There will be a wait to dine during peak hours. Parking: small shared lot. Atmosphere: small ice cream parlor-sized dining area with pop music playing in the background accompanied by kitchen sizzling and smells. Not a place for typical intimate dining. Menu: via QR code at your table. Sadly no photos of dishes to entice your appetite for visually motivated eaters. Lots of options/variety and there is a separate vegan menu. Very short descriptions for most items. Service: there is only one hard working server, have patience. Wait to be seated, you will provided utensils and a pitcher to water yourself, order at the table, food brought to you.
You can get actual Sushi here, not the fake stuff most sushi restaurants offer outside Japan. I recommend the combo boxes. Get sashimi and negiri, as those really focus on the fish. The special rolls are mostly aimed at Americans. While I do think there is room for improvement, I give 5 stars as other fake-sushi places are ranked way too high comparatively. In particular, I think they should cut back on their sauces, like on the eel. This may be because I ordered takeout, but the soy sauce that came with it (Lee Kum Kee) was awful. It did not enhance the flavor of the fish but distracted from it with its over-saltiness entirely.
Long live Kamakura!! They take excellent care of their vegetarian and vegan customers. Incredible veggie-forward sushi menu!! And love the staff.
Delicious and mouth-watering sushi and good part is they have bunch of vegan options. Highly recommend
Tiny, tidy place and very very tasty nigiris and rolls
Very bad staff unfortunately
Best sushi place in the area by a distance. Mexican roll and salmon bomb are really good.
A hidden gem in Kirkland. Kamakura is the best sushi spot around. The food is authentic and super delicious, and the place is always clean. They also have a great vegan/vegetarian menu. The staff is super friendly and kind, especially the server. Thank you for always making the experience great.
Small place with very yummy vegan dishes. Tofu katsu and veggie tempura were great. Sushi rolls have room for improvement. For example, I would prefer if rolls were a bit more bite size and the flavors were a bit more defined. Great place nonetheless! Thank you for really trying to make it work for us vegans! Vegetarian options: Vegan menu
I love this restaurant, food is fantastic and service is outstanding.
This place is so good! The service was very friendly and inviting, the sushi was incredible! I ordered the Jalabomb Roll and it is officially in my top 3 favorites for sushi rolls. I really hope this becomes a permanent part of the menu! I also love that this is Family owned and run. My waitress was really sweet :) Food
First time going in today. The girls at the counter were very sweet and welcoming. They also had a sweet gift for my son. The sushi was also very delicious! Thank you!
Friendly service, nice atmosphere, and great sushi!
I ordered take out from Kamakura in Kirkland a total of two times now. Food: I ordered the Philadelphia Roll and the Curry Katsu both times. The Philadelphia Roll was fresh, cut evenly, and ingredients were proportionate to my liking. I was a sushi chef in Seattle for 5 years and I dont normally order sushi from other restaurants. I found a place that is up to my standards. The curry katsu tasted delicious, but I was disappointed with the portions offered for the price I paid. The curry sauce was delicious and the katsu was cooked perfectly to my liking. Service: Both encounters have been wonderful with the workers here. It can get hectic sometimes for pick up orders because its a popular spot during lunch or dinner time, but the girls who helped me were responsive and so friendly! They work very hard also! Thank you! Atmosphere: The atmosphere is mediocre to me. Parking is available on the upside, but the seating is very limited inside due to how much space is available for seating.
It is simple but quite tasty. Great lunch alternative if you are looking for something different and simple, but not fancy.
I was completely misled by good reviews. The fish was ok, but the rice was so sour, it was basically inedible. I thought Seattle sushi is a safe bet and was extremely disappointed. Its so easy to put less rice vinegar! Also, they put raw salmon in their chirashi on hot rice. Huge no-no.
Fabulous sushi! We highly recommend this sushi restaurant, a great find!
Recently, I visited Kamakura in Kirkland for the first time and was impressed with the prompt and friendly service. But when I got home with my chicken katsu order, I was deeply disappointed. I have never tasted chicken so dry. It was so overcooked and/or kept warming so long it was really inedible. Im not exaggerating. I know what katsu should taste like - I ordered from Bellevues Teriyaki Bowl for years. This restaurant has great revues which tells me that they must do well with sushi. But stay away from the Katsu.
The food was great, but too big, in a bad way need more cut, especially at the edges in the roll but the service was really good, and taste was also nice. We spend $40 per person.
Amazing vegan options! Theyre also super fast. Vegetarian options: Large vegan selection, everything is so good. Food : 5/5 |
I love coming here for vegan sushi and they go above and beyond to create unique sushi options. Love coming here!
What a gem hidden in the corner of a strip mall. Sushi to die for. Great selection, made fresh and served with a smile.
This is NOT authentic Japanese. Sorry. The high rating is from people who know nothing about Japanese food. The karaage was OLD! Not fresh. The Katsudon taste was waaay off....not Japanese. Sorry. It tastes bad. Its not a Japanese taste. The price is too high. The sales person is not Japanese. Maybe Chinese. The fried chicken wasnt freshly cooked, it was old.
Food sucked. Period. Its not Japanese. Karaage was old and dry, the Don Buri had a weird taste, and the Sushi was inedible. I lived in Japan 20 years. Its not a Japanese taste. Also....this is not owned by Japanese....its Chinese or something....and they dont know how to make Japanese food.
Fantastic food on the Vegan Menu. Hard to find good vegan sushi and Katsu. This is our spot to enjoy it all! Dietary restrictions: Vegan has its own menu!
always so friendly and fast, sushi tastes fresh and delicious!
Quaint place with amazing service. The sushi was one of the best in the area. Sashimi was so good, and the cherry roll tasted amazing. The katsu on the other hand was mediocre. The meat was tough to chew and was overdone. Skip the katsu and go for the sushi!
Food and service were both excellent, Vegan options are tasty along with the traditional options.
Yummy vegan sushi. Inari Poppers super!
deserve 10 starts
One of the best places around for vegan sushi! The restaurant looks pretty basic and bare bones, unlike its Fremont location. But the food still tastes the same. They have an excellent selection of vegan items on their menu. Highly recommend for vegans and vegetarians. Vegetarian options: They have a separate vegan menu, and the vegan food is prepared separately.
really good place will for sure be coming here again really nice costumer service.!
I had lunch yesterday, customer service was the best I ve ever experienced! I asked a lot of questions about the food, she knew everything and explained to me with a smile. The food was amazing and I am looking forward to visit this place often!
Best Vegan Options!! I usually never write reviews but this place easily deserves 5 stars. Never imagined how vegan options can be this creative! I dined with my two kids and the waitress served our table with kindness and patience. Thanks again! Recommend dishes: Vegan spicy california roll Vegan yakisoba
So excited to have this on the Eastside. Delicious sushi (vegan options galore), great family-run business with great service. Interior is very utilitarian but the food shines through.
We ordered from the vegan menu - karaage, popper, a couple of special rolls and the katsu curry. Everything tasted delicious, fresh and we were amazed by how quickly it all got to our table. The staff was very warm and friendly. Glad that they opened a new location closer to us. Dietary restrictions: vegan
Best Japanese food, and maybe restaurant, on the Eastside. We ordered off the vegan menu and tried a selection of rolls, appetizers, and tofu katsu. Really creative menu, awesome presentation, and the food came out really fast and was all fresh and delicious. Service was top notch and everyone was really friendly. Can t recommend enough!!! Vegetarian options: Extremely well made and thoughtful vegan menu. It isn t an afterthought or substitution - it s a selection of intentionally crafted vegan dishes. Bring anyone here, vegan, vegetarian, or otherwise
Its neat Food and interior
Amazing food! Great service
I d wish I could give out 10 stars. Taste, quality, and service was the best I ve ever seen. Hope more people get to know this place and enjoy the food!Best Japanese cuisine ever!
I think I have found a treasure. We ordered the Mariners Roll and Chicken Katsu Curry Bento. We are super impressed. Back in California I was a sushi restaurant reviewer on Yelp. I havent had an impressive food experience as this in WA until today. This restaurant should be super popular once people discovered it. I drove all the way from Kent for it. Only thing I wish is the chopsticks....with this price range I would expect better chopsticks. Even if its disposable chopsticks, I think there are better brands or materials.
Really friendly service, and the food was great! I was really curious about all the vegan sushi options. Looking forward to trying more next time!
Vegetarian options: We just accidentally found this place and wow wow wow! The food is incredible! So shortcuts just straight up yumminess. Friendly atmosphere and great food. Highly recommend in the Kirkland area and beyond. If you are not from here, you need to drive out and eat here Food
Best Sushi I had in Washington state, and maybe North America. We ordered the Mariners Roll, Kirkland roll, and Cherry Blossom (?) roll. We initially thought the service was slow. But it was actually them trying to get all the rolls out for us at once on 1 board. Expect prices youd see downtown. The quality does not disappoint.
Delicious sushi. You can taste that is fresh and high quality, for a reasonable price in my opinion, for what you are getting. Highly recommend. Also, I love how this is a family-owned business!
This place just recently reopened as a sushi restaurant. The staff are so kind and friendly, service is fast, and the sushi was great - very fresh fish. So happy I stumbled upon this great local family run restaurant!
Waitress was nice and good but the food was way sub-par. We got bento boxes with katsu that was dry and chewy. The tempora was the only good part . Plus 60$ for 2 bento boxes is a rip off.
Great food! Great service!
Delicious food! Love the Seattle roll!
Its our first here and we drove here when heard about their vegan options, and very glad we did! We ordered the vegan tofu katsu, vegan spicy California rolls, and ramen salad bowl. We recommend ordering all three if its your first time. The salad dressing on the ramen was addictive and wanted to ask if they sold the dressing by the bottle, its so gosh darn good! Well definitely come back. The non-vegan options are extensive, so theres options for everyone.
Literally so good! For vegan and no vegans both can enjoy! Great service, quick food, and amazing environment!
Our family love it, delicious sushi and Katsu Bento. Kid wants to have it again.
I am wonderfully impressed with my first couple visits to the new Japanese restaurant! The service has been terrific, and the fish has been as good as I have tasted anywhere !!
Just discovered this place. Ordered vegan yakisoba bento box takeout and was impressed by the huge vegan menu! The yakisoba, salad, and veggie tempura was delicious. Can t wait to try more varieties on the vegan menu. Only I wasn t sure on was the two potstickers that came with the tempura. Are they vegan or has meat in it? When I opened it up to take a look first just in case, it looked like there could be meat in there. But I m not so sure. I m just being careful. The five star for the atmosphere is unknown really cuz I had takeout. I put in five stars only cuz this place seems like a newer business but it looks nice so far!
Extensive menu with exceptional service! To be fair we were the only ones there, but the food came quickly and our dishes were delicious! The texture of the fish in our sushi rolls was very pleasant and fresh, although they did fall apart a bit at the bottom when picking up. We also got a bento box and miso soup. I left full and happy!
Very tasty vegetarian sushi with a variety I havent found on the east side before. Great to have choices. Small, but least, location with friendly staff. Hope they do well so I can come back. Vegetarian options: Dedicated Vegan sushi menu with lots of basic and fancy options. Make sure you scan the right menu!
Had a nice Katsu-Don and salmon roll today. The pork had a nice bite, was neither too tough nor mushy, and was slightly sweet.
Always adore the sushi from this place, so happy that they opened a location in Kirkland! Incredible traditional as well as vegan sushi menus, always worth the trip. Vegetarian options: Super creative vegan sushi menu!
Pretty stasty food, I personally would have liked bolder flavors even more, but delicious anyway.
that guy that gave 2 stars is wrong
Amazing vegan options! Love the bento! Friendliest people ever! We will be regulars! Highly recommend the vegan karaage and vegan katsu! Sooooo good! Easy parking is a big plus! Vegetarian options: They have an amazing vegan menu! Dietary restrictions: Great place for vegan, vegetarian, and omni. Kid-friendliness: My kid loved it.
Very friendly staff and great sushi!
Food was delicious, sushi was fresh, prices were very reasonable! This will become a regular spot for us!
The bus
Amazing vegan options! Quick and friendly service. Definitely coming back :)
Ever have a meal that s so good it reshapes the range of how good a particular variety of cuisine can be? That s what Kamakura was for me. Their Oyakodon was the stand out among four fantastic dishes.
This is a good neighborhood sushi spot. The service is quick and friendly, and the quality of the food has been consistent for both dine-in and takeout.
We went and had several different dishes. Sons sushi was good and my yakisoba was excellent. My daughter in law loved her bento box. My grand daughter loved the udon soup. And the bao was fantastic.
Great spot for some Japanese cuisine. The chicken katsu was so tender! Plenty of parking and great service. Would definitely come back for some good sushi
Omg, such a hidden gem! Maybe not so much since it s only recently opened (4 months they said) but being a vegetarian searching for sushi and finding something with over 10 options felt crazy!!! And so glad we went, because it was awesome 1 each of the roll tasted amazing and the service was nice too!
Vegetarian options: Vegan menu is great! Food
Mediocre food, definitely not authentic. Have the 5-star reviewers really been to a Japanese restaurant?...
Wow! 10/10. We ordered a special sashimi plate for a party and all the guests were extremely impressed. The sashimi was very fresh with a large variety to choose from. Will definitely be coming back for the foreseeable future. Kamakura of Kirkland has become one of our favorite spots in town.
Great family business , great people. A must try..
Everything tasted so good and fresh, highly recommend! The best service we ve ever experienced!
Excellent. Large portions.
Great little Japanese spot for a bento or some sushi if youre around the area. Only a few tables so definitely come quick or prepare to wait. We got a few of the kotsu bento boxes and some Maki rolls and everything was really tasty. Not the cheapest but definitely worth the price in my opinion and love the small business ambiance.
Vegetarian options: Vegan menu available Recommended dishes
A little bit of a hole in the wall, but the food and service was great. Look forward to coming back.
I d say it was only ok. Definitely surprising to me that the restaurant is averaging 4.9 stars with 50+ reviews
Very well prepared and thought out vegan options! Friendly service and not too crowded.
Had the katsu-don here. Generous portions, will try the other stuff on their menu next time.
What a great find! Vegetarian options: They have a whole vegan menu. Food : 5/5 |
Ive driven by tons of times over the years but only just discovered this place upon Google Maps searching for a Japanese cuisine craving. My takeout experience of a salmon bento was excellent. It was ready less than 10 minutes after placing the online order and the staff were very kind. The box was full of delicious food and thoughtfully prepared. They separated the wasabi and ginger! My only feedback to improve is to update the public menu display on storefronts. Right now the dish descriptions are blank or something very generic Generated by Doordash. While I was pleasantly surprised by the contents of my bento, I believe will help customers know exactly what is in the dish theyre ordering. E.g. this bento has takoyaki, gyoza, vegetable tempura, raw salmon sushi, salmon sashimi with roe, and salad with peanut-like dressing.
Absolutely amazing. Very kind staff! The food was so good we ordered twice in one day. The fish for the sushi was so fresh and delicious. We had to try the ramen and katsu next and everything was purely amazing. Our new favorite spot!! Wonderful experience. Will make it a new go-to! Will probably order it again today! Its that good! Edit: I have tried many of their vegan options since my initial review and theyre delicious for vegans and non-vegans alike! Its so wonderful and accommodating to have a restaurant make such delicious vegan food!
First time grabbing a takeout from Kamakura, and it didnt disappoint. Everything was great. The food was packed perfectly and retained its heat. It tasted crisp and delicious. Service was super friendly as well. Glad to see this restaurant delivering great value. Will definitely be back again.
Wonderful restaurant great and nice service and even better Food !!! Have never been unsatisfied coming here Thank You very much
So glad there is vegan sushi in Kirkland! Great place, super friendly staff! And of course, the food is wonderful! Thank you very much!! Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegan and vegetarian options Dietary restrictions: Vegan friendly
I was craving some vegetarian sushi and found this place on google. They have tons of vegan options! The inside is pretty small, but we came early for dinner and had no issues. I recommend the crunch inari!
