A little pricey but food has a lot of flavor. The seafood laksa and beef rendang was delicious! The chicken from the National Plate was okay. Would def go back to this place if we're ever in Kirkland. Owners are super nice!

Priced kind of high, but not much other choice if you want malaysian food. Cantonese speaking staff and two options of nasi lamak or lak sa but it's really all you need. Excellent execution on both with an amazing sambal that I wish they jarred and sold. Pulled tea is also awesome

I finally got to try this Malaysian restaurant and it was pretty good. Since it was takeout, I couldn't let them know easily that there was a lot of sand and grit in the first clam I ate. The remainder were okay. The seafood was plentiful in my dish but the broth was a bit spicy for my tolerance. It was overall comforting and well-prepared, though! I may be back to try their less spicy options.

Always come here for the Laksa, solid ingredients - plenty of seafood and pork belly. The shop is small but cozy.

Nice little eatery draped with the flag of Malaysia. The food is good with a little inventiveness to create special laksa and fried rice dishes. We had the special laksa (with seafood and Berkshire pork belly slices) and the fried rice (also with Berkshire pork belly slices). You can tell what I like from my food reviews! 😄 The Teh Tarik is not as good as Malay Satay Hut's. Otherwise, the food is unique and definitely worth revisiting.

Price is much higher than we thought but taste is much better/correct than other Malaysian one that we have tried elsewhere in the greater Seattle area. There are not much options nearby but this one is pretty good. Much different than the one I tried in Taiwan but still pretty good. Will come back. If you are looking for hainanese chicken rice (only on Saturday), this place by far the best one I had in Seattle area. The curry chicken and roti is pretty good as well. Chicken is pretty juicy inside. Nice addition of sides of things.

Best Malaysian restaurant in the Seattle area. The Seafood Laksa with Pork Belly was very delicius. Fresh ingridients, the soup was flavorful, the Seafood were fresh and the pork belly gave nice contrast. The owners and staff were friendly and accomodating. Update: Today I tried their fried noodle, it’s also very authentic and delicious.

Super tasty food. Good prices. Easy phone order and in-store pickup. We love supporting the restaurant and great jobs to the kids, very professional! Really like the chicken hainanese chicken rice, noodles dishes, and the Durian crepe cake is a must. Owners are awesome and great to chat with. (photos are a combination of dine in and takeout)

I was born in Singapore, I ate and cooked all these dishes growing up, Infact I was in sg and Malaysia a few weeks ago lol. They are not supposed to taste like this. Ordered the nasi lemak rendang and mama mee goreng. Both were salty, not inedible though. However the flavour was bad. Rendang was watery, lacked the unique creaminess and slap of the Kaffir lime leaves. Ikan bilis ( anchovies) was soggy, sambal provided was not nasi lemak sambal ( they just fried chill and made a paste). Mama mee goreng is made with the ground lentils and peanuts thats what gives it a unique flavour coating the noodles this place just simply fried noodles and it was greasy. Shrimp in mee goreng was good, I m not sure if it was fresh it might have been and I liked it. Price for nasi lemak rendang was 19.5 and 18 for mee goreng. I recommend maya Asian market for rendang or Kedai makan Seattle. Infact h-mart Prima taste rendang is pretty solid and the Prima taste laksa instant noodle is great too, been living of that since being here for school. Service was good they seem like nice people and they checked on us a few times, hate to put down a family business but this is not personal just an objective review of food.

December 22, 2023

Poor service, no business sense charge for things like water with 50 cents fee if you don t have cash. My beef rendang was too salty. The Rice didnt have cut it enough. The roti wasn t excellent. It was too flaky for home style food. Really wanted to like this place but cant recommend hence the review. See other reviews about service, food too not just mine.

Saw this on instagram, went to try it out. It feels less of a restaurant, but more of a food stall with some seating - you order up at the front and receive a number. The food was good and flavourful, but I think the environment took away from the experience. Everything was served on one-time-use plates, and they didn t even have water to give us - you only have the option to buy bottled water. I also think it s a bit expensive (20+$ for not a lot of food)

My husband said this is the best laksa hes had in 20 years, and is comparable to that hes tried in Malaysia and Singapore. This will be a new place on our regular rotation. He said the duck was slightly better than the seafood, but both were beautiful. A buttery rich coconut broth. My 11-year-old loved hers as well. And a bonus for the fact that theres actual parking at the restaurant, so no driving around to look for a space.

During my visit, I encountered a couple of aspects that I believe could be improved for a better overall experience. Firstly, customers are required to order at the front desk, and the suggested tip of 15% seemed a bit high, especially considering the prices of the food. When a 15% tip is suggested, customers generally anticipate a certain level of service, such as water being provided. Unfortunately, I found no water service during my visit, and there was an unexpected extra charge of $1 for a Kirkland bottled water, which I felt was not in line with the suggested tip. with the dining setup being self-service, it might be beneficial for the management to reconsider and possibly update the suggested tip to better align with the services provided. 10% makes sense better

We dined in. People were nice, but the place is definitely not for dine-in. I saw a lot of nice reviews about the food. I did not feel that way. 1. Nasi Lemak, I have had before, have been a hearty meal and this was not. Salad - Dep store box, anchovies were ok, no visible sambal and the chicken thighs were OK, Rice was good. 2. Roti Canai was not good overall. A single roti for a 15 dollar meal without dine-in is super expensive, even considering the inflation. Beef curry that came with it was good though. Again, I would have liked it better, if there wasnt salad from a dep store box taking up 1 quarter of my extremely small plate.

★★
December 22, 2022

We dined in and ordered a roti kanai and nasi lemak. The dishes were super expensive when compared to the portions we received and the dining experience which entailed -place the order , pay ,pick a spot and wait for the food to show up. The food was served in plastic containers and throw away plates with an unappealing side of spring mix salad straight out of the bag .The service was quick but the food was meh and didn t live up to the price being charged.

If you never had Malay food, then you can come here to have a taste of what Malaysian food taste like. If you are from Malaysia, or someone who knows what Malaysian food actually tastes like, then dont bother coming here for good Malaysian food. Ordered a nasi lemak with Chicken and Rendang Beef, and a Curry Laksa. The rice in nasi lemak has a bit of coconut cream and pandan leaf flavor, but almost no flavor. The chicken is tender, but almost no flavor. The boiled egg, peanuts and fried anchovies is fine ( it is hard to make bad fried peanuts and fried anchovies and boiled egg anyway haha). The rendang beef, is not good. A good/authentic rendang beef should have aroma from toasted shredded coconut, but I dont taste any of them. It is a ok stewed beef, but not a ok rendang beef. Curry Laksa: No comment on the toppings (prawn, clams, fried tofu, etc). It is what it is, cant really go wrong with blanched seafood. The broth, however, is not that good. It is not spicy at all. And it is not salty at all (lack of fish sauce / belacan), not savory at all.

The employees just doing own their things ( they were eating, laughing, sit down). They serve food on paper plates, plastic spoon, fork, knives and You must put in the trash after done eating. You need to purchase drinks because they dont provide you water. The price is very expensive, the food was awful!. I was having high expectation from this restaurant. I have been waiting to come eat here for a very long time since I dont live close to Kirkland and I am Malaysian and wanting food I grew up with. The Hananese Chicken rice was on special so I ordered it. If you have never tried a chicken rice before, it would be a good introduction. You cant really go wrong with poached chicken, but it was all the other components that make up the dish. The rice I found to be flavourless, since traditional Hananese chicken rice is supposed to be toasted in the chicken skin before being cooked with the broth to bring out more flavour. The ginger scallion oil (part of the sauce) was no where close to what it should have been, instead it was fried onions. Maybe I got my hopes up since I grew up with Malaysian food, but this meal was a huge let down for me. Would I come back again? Maybe if I was in the area I would try a different dish, but from other reviewers they all seem to have to same opinion as me in which there were no flavours in the dishes.

Not the hainanese chicken rice you re looking for! I had amazing experience in Singapore eating fantastic Malaysian cuisine and the crown jewel was the hainanese chicken rice which is available everywhere. I was super excited to have a place that makes hainanese chicken rice in Kirkland and when I opened my container (writing this during COVID) 1. Cold. My food was cold because they made it 30 min before I was told to pick it up. 2. Dangerous. There were sharp bones in every piece!!!!! The dish looked like they took a huge knife to the dish and chopped it up, bone and all. 3. Flavorless. I was willing to look past those things and heated up the meal with my heart hoping that it tasted anything close to what I d had before. I was sorely disappointed and the other person eating with me who had never had the dish before agreed that it was a bland chicken dish.

Once upon a time, I was a merchant in my town. We merchants squabbled about parking, particularly those merchants who park their personal cars in the prime spaces all day. The food could be the most amazing delicious experience (which it is), seeing the same blue Honda sitting in the prime churn parking spot... Well, I can see this owner is not taking business growth seriously. If those two spots were Dedicated 15-minute Pick-Up zones, golly the whole strip mall would prosper.

Super authentic Malaysian taste, our favorite! The chef put great emphasis in ingredients, make the cost high, like getting 3 types of chilli and dried shrimp to make the rich tasting sambal paste from scratch is no small task, and expensive for those ingredients here. Should try everything they make, especially off menu daily special depending on ingredients they have at hand. The taste is complex and often spicy hot, taste like home for us.

It was Reunion Malaysian Cafe + Kitchen a couple months ago. ........................................ Passed by Kirkland town and found this Cafe + Kitchen, which is highly rated and recommended on Yelp. Order a chef special noodle bowl with pork bones and herb soup - it looked like Japanese noodle bowl (e.g. Santouka Ramen) but tasted very Malaysian. It is good but personally did not like too much to compare with other Asian cuisine. And I think it is quite expensive or over-priced ($16 for noodle and $19 for rice). Specially seeing many people recommended durian cake, order one durian slice and one chocolate slice - total cost over $27 (include tax + 15% tip).

Pricey place for mediocre food. I am from Malaysia and I know the food quality. They raised their price because they know they have a demand. I dislike places that take advantage of the situation. Food didnt even taste as authentic.

There are three versions of the Hainan chicken rice, Thai, Malaysia and Singapore. I like the Singapore version as the rice cooked with oil, the chicken skin is shiny, chicken oil is in gelatin form and between the skin and juicy meat. The one that I have here doesnt have the complicity and taste. The spare ribs also is blend.

I like the Power Two Salad in this place. It is a chicken salad with a tasty dressing.

December 22, 2018

This place is not professional at all. First time I went during open hours it was closed. Second time I called to make sure it was open and they said it was opened until 4pm. I show up at 3:15pm there are people eating so I grab the menu and they tell me the kitchen is closed...45 minutes before closure? What the...I was looking forward to trying Malaysian food but Im not going back a third time. Unprofessional, this nowhere need good customer service. I would have understood if the kitchen had a problem but no, they just didnt want to work until their closure. Ridiculous!

December 22, 2018

Even though it may be a nice place but it really never opens when it says its going to because i have been there and in the area where its located at and it really never open at 9am like it says it is.

My favorite thing on the menu is the kaya butter waffle, which is delicious, but Ive also had several savory dishes here that were great. In fact, Ive never had anything bad here. Its a really unique locally owned restaurant with tasty food and drinks; exactly the kind of place that makes Kirkland great.

Overall, good food. But not a place that will go back and crave for it. The place is small, not recommended for a crowd more than 4. The durian crepe cake is must to have. They also have a mango version which i took to go. The ribs is really tender and is really good. The pulled pork udon is also something you should get.

Finally a place on the Eastside serving good quality Laksa and Hannan chicken rice. The prices are steep but the portion is big and the ingredients are top notch. The shrimps in the seafood laksa are so fresh they taste sweet. We also really enjoy the mango crepe cake. The owner told us that they serve durian crepe cake from Thursday to Sunday. Will definitely be back for that.

Just across the way from the Kirkland Performance Center, this place serves a variety of Malaysian cuisine. My wife spent several years in Malaysia in the Peace Corps and the woman who waited on us was literally from the same town she had served in. Busy and lunch and worth asking for recommendations if youre not familiar with Malaysian cuisine.

Go and try Durian crepe cake! If you havent been to this Kirkland gem, you really need to try it. Such delicious food and flavors, cooked in a family establishment. I have been here several times and never disappointed by their food. Their Malaysian coffee is amazing and a must try also. Funny enough i was given free pastries twice to pair with the coffee from this place when I went there alone and the shop was not so busy. Such a lovely way to keep their loyal customers Some must-try items: kaya toast, bacon waffle, beef rendang, laksa Theres a wide range of foods so you can come here for breakfast lunch or dinner.

Staff are nice and food came out fast. Tried both the nyonya laksa and the Borneo laksa. The former one is what I m used to (and what s most commonly served). Alas I have never been able to find laksa as good as that from Australia. This one s broth is not thick and coconuty enough and lacks punch (not heat, but flavor punch). Laksa is not supposed to be subtle like udon or soba but is supposed to be bold, full of big flavors. This one sadly didn t deliver. Good roti Canai but should be served with a curry dipping sauce. The tea terik is not strong enough.

The chicken rice if very good but dinner and lunch portion is very much the same maybe a piece difference for dinner and much more expensive. Their Laksa is good but need more soup. A little pricey compared to other Malay restaurants in terms of portioning.

All around a great place. Its all delicious. Of the crepe cakes, Id personally suggest some flavor other than vanilla because we lost interest by the time we were done. Durian was excellent though. Laksa was excellent. Waffles are good but they dont justify the cost. Malaysian street burger was also very tasty.
