Sleek market/eatery with pizza, sandwiches, salads & sweets made from locally sourced ingredients.
Small dine-in area so be sure to join the wait-list prior to going. The food was great and definitely seemed priced appropriate for portion size, quality, and taste compared to other "brunch" places! Service is through the app which did cause us to order something that they sold out of before food was delivered. They then couldn't take it off the bill which is weird so we need to wait for them to refund it on our credit card (why 3 stars for service). Overall it was still a great place to try!
First Impressions of Deru I recently dined at Deru for the first time. Tip: Definitely add your name to the online waitlist before arriving. We added ours 15 minutes ahead of time and only waited another 15 minutes for a table. We opted to sit at the bar, where our friendly server quickly took our drink order. I started with a delicious mocha, expertly crafted on a real espresso machine. My wife enjoyed a cup of drip coffee. For our meal, my wife ordered the eggs Benedict, which came with a side of fresh greens. I went with the chicken and gravy with poached eggs intop. While the gravy had a slightly sweet flavor, a dash of hot sauce balanced it out. The eggs were a bit overcooked for my liking (I had requested over-medium, which was the lightest of the cooks), but the bacon was outstanding. Deru is definitely worth checking out. I’m want to return and try their lunch menu, especially the pizza, which my wife raves about.
The best fries and hot chocolate I’ve had in my life!! Scrambled egg had amazing selection of vegetables - one of the better ones.
There is a bit of a wait to get in but its totally worth it . A nice small place which is packed with wonderful dishes . They serve the best pumpkin risotto , the chicken pizza was fresh and soft and the fig bread was delicious. Do not miss out on the beetroot lemonade either which was refreshing and tasty . The place seems a little cramped but the friendly staff and the food makes up for it. Highly recommend this place !!
I had an amazing late brunch with friends at DERU Market, and it was such a delightful experience! The kale cake was absolutely loved by everyone at the table—so flavorful and fresh. And the farm salad was another big hit! You can tell that everything is made with care, using fresh, locally sourced ingredients that make the dishes stand out. DERU Market is a gem with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It’s clear that they are passionate about food and their community. Their commitment to serving good, real food, made from scratch, really shines through in every bite. Whether you’re there for brunch, lunch, or dinner, you’ll leave feeling satisfied and cared for.
I tried the veg items on their menu - tomato soup, veggie focaccia sweet potato sandwich, and egg scramble. The food was fresh and tasty, with the soup being rich and the sandwich and scramble both well-prepared. The wait was a bit long, but the service was friendly, and the food made up for it.
Four years after pandemics, long waited in person dine in finally arrived. It was so pleasant and the dinner is even better than before. We have come three times in two weeks and are going to try all different dishes. Romantic lighting. Sensational! Only wish they have physical menu instead of QR code.
this place was busy, even on a rainy friday. be sure to join the waitlist. we ordered a variety of menu items. there are shareables and individual portion options. the sweet potato and the roast beef sandwich were favorites. the cauliflower was good but could have been more charred. i wasn’t a fan of the meatloaf, it was too sweet. the pizza was mid as well, lacking cripsiness.
A friend had recommend deru some time ago but I am not in the area often. However, it was worth the trip. The food was really good and fresh and flavorful. I think I was most impressed with the greens. It was small and cozy so not a lot of seating, but the noise level was good between both the people and the music. I went with some cheaper items and was 100% satisfied. I would have to see the portions for the more expensive items to see if they would be worth it for me but, again fresh and flavorful so I will try them sometime. I think this would be a really nice date night spot. Not many drink options, so you may have yo go somewhere else for a night cap.
Food is amazing, service is great, atmosphere is cozy. I love their latte, fries and giant meatball.
Birthday celebration with excellent food and service.
Neat place with very good food!
This is, without a doubt, my favorite restaurant in Kirkland! The Kale Salad and seasonal soup are always fantastic, and I cant get enough of them. As for the cakes, I ve tried three flavors chocolate, coconut, and carrot. While the chocolate and carrot cakes were not quite to my liking, the coconut cake is exceptional. It s so delicious that I m always tempted to devour the entire slice myself!
Why do i eat... Well, besides the to live basics...I enjoy flavors, textures and seasonings that are appropriate to the food you are eating. This was a pleasant surprise. Having never been before and going with a friend we kept our expectations moderate. It was a busy weekend day, we waited for a table, but only a very short time as we wanted to sit outside. Ok, the table was tiny, even for two, BUT WHO CARES!!! Service was so friendly, timely and full of suggestions of what to eat... Fried chicken and gravy, bacon and fingerling potatoes.. Not at all what i would normally eat, but...POW!!! FLAVOR!!! The food was actually SEASONED! and seasoned well, enhancing and complimenting the food. I think we ate in silence for a few minutes and then started laughing... It was wonderful, unexpected and genuinely happy food..i know i sound crazy, but its been 3 weeks since i was there and i still remember it. I was a chef for almost 20 years, i enjoy food, i like good food... But more than that i love food that makes me happy! Well done.... Expectations exceeded!!! Wheelchair accessibility: Yes, ground level, no curbs.. Outside tables are right, but maybe inside is more accommodating.
What a beautiful gem! Had brunch and warm cider and it was so fresh and yummy
The best meal I have had since moving to the Seattle area 7 months ago and I am a super foodie. The ingredients were fresh, service was friendly and attentive and the space is just flat out a cool vibe. This is my go too spot for now on! Only slight would be nice is if they accept ressies. However I credit the owners for using technology with ability to get on the waitlist and QR codes. The overhead for new menus and simplicity is brilliant and the savings all go back to their amazing seasonally fresh food!
Some of the best fresh healthy food you will eat at a restaurant! They have the most amazing salads, and I highly recommend the turkey sandwich. The parking is limited, but it s worth finding a spot further down the road if needed.
Already made 4 visits in last one month, thats how much we love this place.. tried couple of things: pizzas, pastas, focaccia , cakes, sweet potato side and coffee , loved absolutely everything so far, its a cozy place with real food.
I unfortunately have to give this place a 2 star review after visiting for the first time for breakfast. I ordered the eggs scramble which included zucchini. The food was okay, the eggs seemed a bit undercooked but not to the point I was worried. That was until I had a very unpleasant rest of my day throwing up a couple hours later (no meals between then and when I had the breakfast). The atmosphere was 5 stars and the service was good. That s why I give it a 2 all things considered. Please work on your food safety.
Food was delicious, I enjoyed a farm scrabble, hot green tea and a salted peanut butter cookie. Everything tasted fresh and so good. Service was excellent, Natalie provided great service, was pleasant, kind and very personable. The atmosphere is a bit cold, the entire inside is stark white with a bit of farmhouse style but very industrial. Food is good but the atmosphere could be a little more inviting. Dietary restrictions: Notated gluten and dairy options
Love their fries! Everything is sooo good | - ) they serve hot coffee with a big bowl, that s really cute lol
The butternut squash soup is amazing!!!
the cake slice is huge!!! omg. but the food was good!! my favorite is the butternut squash soup. it reminds me of indian curry in a way (would go well with rice). its creamy, thick (less soupy than i expected)
I had a great experience here! The food was delicious, with fresh flavors and nice presentation. The coffee was delicious rich and smooth, just the way I like it. The atmosphere was also a big plus; it s cool and inviting, making it a perfect spot to relax or catch up with friends. I ll definitely be coming back!
Really loved the hot chocolate with the toasted marshmallows!! Probably the best one I ever had in Seattle
Peanut butter chocolate cake is to die for.
This place has it all. Delicious locally sourced food. The desserts are also amazing and I got a latte which was perfect.
Food was good. Atmosphere is wonderful! Not the place for those with allergies. Servers have no idea of the details that lie in the food to the ingredients. Including in GF, VEGAN desserts.
We absolutely love pizza at Deru! My favorite dessert, carrot cake, is to die for and the slice is enormous! My recent fav though is the squash soup - delicious!
Good: menu, food, casual ambiance, overall service once you can get into the restaurant Bad: all seating is reserved and the wait times can be absurdly long, even as one single customer seeking bar seating Ive had to cancel pending reservations a few times for that reason
Joining the waitlist for 1 hour, receive the message that table is almost ready and hit confirm, immediately drive and arrive there after 11 minutes and they said it s pass the 10 minute holding period so I need to wait again. We left. We have been to DERU many times, previously the staff will arrange table for guests in such situation. Waiting and starving and then waiting disappointed.
We came to deru for my birthday lunch with our kids. It was my request and I really regretted it after the fact. First, the hostess who greeted us was wearing a really inappropriate necklace. Im not going to tell people what they can and cant wear but if youre in a public/service facing job, I just think its inappropriate to announce your political views. I chose deru because I just really wanted a fresh salad. I ordered the Farm Salad. It is a bizarre/misleading name for a salad that is essentially just lettuce (and a handful of roasted carrots). Ill take responsibility for not verifying the ingredients but what was ultimately disappointing is that much of the lettuce was wilted. I showed the waiter and he immediately apologized and asked the manager to come to our table. The manager agreed that it wasnt to their standards and offered to replace the salad and to refund it. She did replace it. But the refund was never processed. For our sons, we ordered a pizza, which came out soggy. Our kids are not picky eaters...but really couldnt eat more than a slice because it was so soggy. I also didnt like that the tip is pre-determined/pre-populated and if I remember correctly, chosen at the time of the order, not after youve actually received the service.
Such a cute atmosphere, I have never had a bad bite here! Literally order anything and it will be amazing !
I arrived right when they opened and had the restaurant to myself for about 30 minutes. There is designated restaurant parking in the restaurant parking lot and parking spots directly in front of the restaurant on the street that requires you to back in to the spot. There was a QR code to review the menu and place my order and food was served by a very friendly employee and the barista made the most delicious latte with the most adorable almond milk art. It really brightened my day. The food was absolutely amazing, I couldnt understand how an egg and arugula sandwich could be that delicious. The flavors were on point and the runny yolk was a nice surprise. Definitely farm to table freshness here. I so wanted to return for dinner but couldnt make it back after work. If youre in the area make time and visit this place for any meal, you wont be disappointed. This was the best meal that I had during my work trip. Thank you!! Breakfast sandwich no bacon $13 Apple bread $4.50 Salted caramel latte with almond milk $6.50
Its annoying that you have to schedule and reserve a place to come and drink coffee in the morning
Deru used to be consistently good, but as the restaurant has become more popular, the food quality has gone downhill. I just picked up my order and got burnt-to-crisp French toast for my troubles. This is the third time in a row that my order has been botched up, and the third time is not a charm. This is the perfect example of a restaurant that has become too popular way too fast and is unable to keep quality standards on pace with demand.
The food here is very good. But something has to happen with this waitlist idea. I ve put myself on the waitlist. It says 75-80 minutes. Great 2 hours later they say it might take another 20-30 minutes. It s just absurd. I ve been here four times and made reservation far ahead. Not a single time I was sat at an actual table.
Super friendly and super yummy.
Exceptional breakfast sandwich paired with excellent service !
They didnt even know their ticketing system was not working till complained after 30 minutes of ordering in.
Consistently amazing food, truly feels health-focused and at the same time, delicious. Farm to table vibe :) One downside is that this place is very popular and doesn t take reservations, so getting in can be a trouble and it s a bit stuffy inside. I wish you guys would be able to expand or reopen Little brother - it used to be the best brunch place on the east side!
Ordered a cake, paid over $80.00, and to be quite honest, I have to give it a solid meh. It was way over frosted, and I like frosting. The sponge was well baked, but there was little flavor. The service was super and they do have an efficient system for pick up. But guys, drop the price to $50, take off 1/3 of the frosting and build flavor.
Everything is good. Except it takes ages to have a breakfast here. If you want to have a 5-20 minutes breakfast this place is not for you. It takes at least an hour.
Its a nice place, nice environment, nice service and delicious food
The servings are huge and the food was delicious.
Nice place.
Everything is so top notch. One of the best mocha I had in USA.
over-priced
Quick stop here for a GF cookie and some much needed sugar after a long run. I was thoroughly impressed by the hospitality and attention that the servers gave to me for only a to go item. The place was bustling on a Saturday and a fun atmosphere in a peaceful neighborhood. We will be back. The GF cookie was awesome!
Delicious! Fresh food in a fun quaint atmosphere.
The weekend breakfast, bread and coffee are all delicious, and the service staff are very friendly! The overall atmosphere is great. There are many customers who come here for the restaurant. If you arrive late, you may have to wait for a while before you can get a seat.
The chocolate caramel drizzle cake we ordered for our work party was well received.
Delicious food
Best food ever! Would recommend to anyone!
Went for breakfast and loved our food. So many yummy treats to choose from. Well be back.
Tasty food, tasty drinks, especially their homemade ones. This place is pretty busy, but its worth to wait
Very delicious food! I loved the pizza, salmon, pork chops, and soup!!! Just a bit pricy.
First time trying it, genuinely the best sandwich I ve ever had in my entire life. I got the roast beef. I ll be coming here everyday for lunch. Can t wait to take my girlfriend here as well. Update: Just tried the breakfast from here, you can tell everything is fresh and local. It s the best bacon I ve ever had. I called to see if I can order a slab of it because it s that good. This is my favorite place to get food from in Kirkland/redmond/bellevue.
The food is absolutely amazing! Each dish Is so unique with fresh herbs, and ingredients. I couldnt recommend this place enough. This is real food that will leave you feeling wonderful! The risotto and the pizzas are a must!
Fantastic food and friendly wait staff. Ordering can be a bit confusing (there is a waiter but also a scannable QR code to add things to your order) and service can be slow when they are busy. Make sure to check with them if your food is taking a while because they ended up losing one of our tickets. The manager was really apologetic about it though and comped our meal. Overall its worth a visit because everything was beyond delicious once it came. I would definitely come again. Kid-friendliness: High chairs are available but there is no separate kids menu
Good sandwiches and brunch fare. I really liked the garlic bread, greek salad, and the fried chicken sandwich. The garlic bread had tons of REAL garlic along with garlic confit and a healthy amount of oil. The bread had a pleasant slight crunch with a nice chew as you enjoyed the garlicky goodness. The fried chicken sandwich was good too; crispy, juicy, and not overly salty, but it did seem to lack a little element of acidity or freshness. Still very good though. The greek salad was surprisingly excellent. Had the perfect amount of oil and vinaigrette along with feta which wasn t too overpowering. The flavors melded very well together and the salad felt very cohesive The other items we got were the Fennel Sausage Pizza, bruschetta, and two types of turkey sandwiches. The sandwiches were both good and the turkey was moist, but I felt like it was just a plain old turkey sandwich and nothing more. The pizza crust was slightly crunchy and chewy and had a good char to complement the light amount of tomato and cheese. I ve tried better pizzas but this one is still quite good. The bread on the bruschetta was good, but I felt like the tomatoes weren t as great. They had a sun-dried taste but the mushy texture made it less appealing to eat and I felt like there were no other flavors to complement it, like balsamic vinaigrette. I feel like it would taste better with cooked and chopped tomatoes rather than mashed ones. Tried the hot chocolate and a doppio. Both beverages tasted good. The hot chocolate was very mild in sweetness which I liked. Overall a good brunch spot with a lot of Italian options, wonderful service, and a great atmosphere.
Always love Deru. Weve been coming for years. The food is always SO good. Love their farmers salad, pizza, pastries, and drinks. Great for families, casual date nights, and friend meet-ups.
Delicious versions of what you think you know dishes
Amazing vegetarian selection 5 stars!
Good food especially if you like pizza.
Big roast beef sandwiches. Good salad selections. Lots of deserts options. The cheese pizza was nit bad either. But keep in mind that you may face long waiting and its not easy to find a parking or a table so make sure you have extra time to eat.
Amazing food!! Everything was freshly made !
Food was phenomenal and fresh. Service was poor but could be that we just got unlucky.
Great local fare, in the heart of residential Houghton. The pizzas are good, but the meatloaf is to die for. Friendly prompt service only added to the joy of dining here on a whim.
Favorite restaurant in Washington. Hands down. Every dish has been memorable and the cakes are to die for.
Good food, long list but worth it.
Great food and awesome experience!
I did pickup orders twice. Both times I ordered the margherita pizza. Its good (but could be better IMO). The farm salad is very good! Refreshing .
You can taste the best healthy pizza in Kirkland. The mushroom pizza was absolutely delicious, and they offer a convenient system for ordering online and receiving your order. I was impressed by the staff s quick service. I also loved that the pizza wasn t too salty and tasted light and fresh.
Fresh and delicious!
Food is okay, our fries were overfried but they did refund us for it. I think the seating is very uncomfortable and the parking is not very customer friendly. Customer service is great.
Quaint little eatery boasting a menu of simple and clean foods
Amazing food and amazing vibes.
Food is really good. Food cooked from scratch per its own menu and tries to source from local farms. Limited table seating. Reminds me of small cafe restaurants in Europe in a residential area. Cake slices pricey but huge. No views so bring good company Parking: Neighbors do not like patrons parking on street.
Deru is perfect for a casual lunch. The pizzas and sandwiches are amazing, they also offer some incredible cakes. The place has a few indoor seatings and also some extra outdoor seatings. Although seating is limited, the atmosphere and personable service make it a must-visit for a satisfying, casual dining experience The pizza s crispy crust is delicious, Ive been there some times and never regret ordering a pizza. Parking: the place has a few spots to park
A neighborhood gem
The carrots are illustrative of how amazing this place is. I ordered it as a side because I just wanted some vegetables, but boy, they were seasoned, spiced, and charred grilled or roasted in such a great fashion, it was a party of texture and flavor in my mouth. I honestly dont remember the rest of my meal which was good, but Ill always remember those carrots.
Love Deru! It s a great place to meet friends, grab lunch and walk around Kirkland
The food is amazing. Is there any chance to have a second one open in Bellevue?
This was the best sandwich and salad I ever had . We visited our friends who live in the neighborhood and we were told about this place that is so amazing that people come here from Seattle special for it. We had a to go meal and the portion was big that you can hardly finish. I already crave that and highly advise everyone visiting to try it.
High quality of food ingredients. You can tell, really. Get on a wait list though cause this place is in high demand. The pizza was delicious, just like I like it. Cool that they had beet juice. I needed it now
Gem in nowhere land. Why haven t I been here before??
One of my absolute favorite places to eat in the whole state.
The rustic decor here is so cute and aesthetic. Its definitely a popular spot, so Id recommend reserving a table online in advance-- I overheard a customer mention a 45-minute wait time. The food was fantastic! The pizza, in particular, was sooo good ; my friend even remarked that it tasted like authentic Italian. The garlic knots were also great. Pricing was reasonable for the quality. The service was excellent as well. All the waitresses were so sweet, and we especially loved Kate and Cedar. Well be back!
Love their food. It s so fresh and delicious! The staff are very kind and cheerful. The atmosphere is relaxed and clean with an open entry/patio that allows everyone to feel connected to the outdoors. The farm salad is one of my favorite dishes to add to any meal. I haven t had anything I didn t like, and although I have not tried the dessert, I ve heard it s great.
Great food and a fun vibe. Make sure to join the virtual waitlist because the wait times are usually long especially for brunch!
Delicious sandwiches, great for catering business events!
One of the best restaurants in Kirkland! Everything is so tasty!
The wait can be long but luckily they have a virtual waitlist you can join before heading out. This was my first time trying DERU and it was good! The wood fire fennel sausage and kale pizza was delicious. I loved the crust on it. My friend ordered the fried chicken and gravy and that was also yummy! The chicken was extra crispy and the white gravy was perfect. I also ordered an iced latte which was just the right amount of sweet and coffee-forward. I will be coming back to try other dishes and desserts. Parking: Parking lot and back-in parking next to restaurant
Really tasty! The rosemary cream pizza was very good. Definitely would come back and try the other pizzas
Consistently busy and crowded, get on the waitlist before you arrive. Food was very good and the service was fine. The online system wasn t working for us for whatever reason, but a server was happy to take our order once we got their attention. Seating is tight and the location is weird, but if you don t mind any of that, it s an enjoyable spot.
We were visiting from out of town and will definitely come back to eat here. We loved our pizza and sandwiches. Don t forget to order of piece of cake to-go before you leave.
Good food, and remember to join the waitlist about 1hr before arrival. By the way, their coffee is really large (served in bowl!) Food
Best pizza in the area.
One of the best brunches on the eastside. Fried chicken was our favorite, juicy, crispy, and so flavorful with the gravy. Short stack were fluffy and well paired with the jam. Farm scramble also delicious. Parking is limited to the side streets, unless you come on the weekend where you can park across the street at the Public Works Maintenance lot.
The food was really good! Hard to be at the table with toddlers though, wouldnt recommend it. The wait staff were all younger and most of the ones we interacted with were nice, but one of them was a little rude. Well definitely get food from there again but just takeout!
Tried their peanut butter chocolate cake. It s soooooo good.
With nearly no info on wait times and a short number of tables, this excellent food is safeguarded by hour(s) long wait times and an atmosphere of a fully active warehouse. Prepare for delicious french toast with seasonal ingredients, served on deteriorating tin plates while another server crashes together (organizes) the loudest jars for the 3rd time. The lamps overhead will light your food perfectly for your Instagram, so you can remember how it looked after blinding yourself with the lights. Strongly consider this restaurant for takeout only. Highly recommend pairing with a wonderful picnic so you can see and hear your loved ones.
Good chicken, coffee was traditional, bolognese was creamy, beet lemonade was a bit pricy at 8$.
Take out food was 30 minutes later than provided ETA, staff was very unfriendly.
Lovely spot with super tasty brunch options. Pancakes are a must try!
Excellent food! Nice restaurant.
Food was out of this world! I got the rosemary bacon pizza and it is hands down one of the best pizzas I have eaten. Parking: Parking is very tight. But we seemed to find parking somewhat in a timely manner.
Solid food sitting in a nice restaurant. Pizza and fried chicken are must tries
Deru Market in Kirkland has become a favorite spot for us, especially for ordering pizzas in bulk for our workers who absolutely love them. The pizzas at Deru Market are simply exceptional. Each pie is crafted with care, featuring fresh, locally-sourced ingredients and a perfect balance of flavors. Whether it s the classic Margherita with its vibrant tomato sauce and creamy mozzarella, or the adventurous seasonal specials, every bite is a delight. Beyond the pizzas, Deru Market offers a charming ambiance that adds to the dining experience. The rustic decor and friendly staff create a welcoming atmosphere, making every visit enjoyable. We appreciate Deru Market not only for their delicious food but also for their excellent service and attention to detail. Ordering pizzas in bulk has never been easier, and our workers always look forward to their meals from Deru Market. If you re looking for a place with great food and a warm atmosphere in Kirkland, Deru Market is the place to go.
Absolutely love DERU!!! The atmosphere is fun and joyful... with lots of action and full of people. I have had 2 experiences at Deru, and both times, the service was excellant- our servers were lovely...today it was Melina and she is amazing!!! We ordered the sweet potato / Kale salad, the roasted chicken and goat cheese sandwich, the fabulous French fries( these are some of the best Ive had and I love French fries), and the jam dot(dairy free and gluten free) cookie. WOW!!!! All of it was so delish and lit up my taste buds and brought sheer happiness to my belly and soul!!! Thank you Deru and all the incredible humans working and pulling off an amazing experience everytime. Vegetarian options: Veggie sandwich, fries, salads and of course fancy delish treats. Dietary restrictions: Some gluten free and dairy free options
Edit: always have loved this place and I always will. But when you ask to place an order through a server, they kinda throw back a bit of attitude. Our server kept giving us a thumbs up after we ordered each item which we found pretty rude and confusing. Hands down the best restaurant in Kirkland. A family favorite for us. Our first stop when we fly back into the Seattle area. All the food is exceptional and the deserts are amazing!!
Bravo bravo!!! The food is better than ever. Ive been coming here for quite a few years but have not been back since Covid. Today was exceptionally good. I would double the stars based on the food quality. And whats equally as great is that every employee was so nice, helpful, positive. It makes a big difference and Deru has an exemplary culture. Weekly visits are on the calendar!
Really good!
Chocolate cake is to die for
For breakfast, pancakes and egg sandwich were great. For lunch, pizza and salad were awesome.
Its great, the food is good, coffee is great, but good Lord the place is small, parking lot tiny and terrace minuscule.
Busy place for a reason. Great way to open your weekend.
We still talk about this eatery, miss it so much since moving. It s a must visit when we are in town!
A friend brought me lunch from Deru, so I cant speak to the atmosphere or service yet, but I LOVED the food. The kale cake (so unique and delish), the tomato soup (rich, creamy perfection), and the cinnamon roll to conquer all cinnamon rolls.
Service was kind, attentive, awesome. Though you order via QR menu. Food is fantastic. You cannot go wrong with the pastrami sandwich, pizzas, or the cakes. Delightful. Save room. Enjoy. Outside seating was the only downside - garbage/manure isnt the ideal smell while you wait.
I had the greatest lunch yesterday at DERU. Everything we ordered was delicious and fresh, the service was amazing from the minute we walked up to get a table. One of the employees named Malena was such a joy and really made our experience so memorable. She was so kind and friendly it was just the icing on the cake! Can t wait to go back again when I find myself in Kirkland!
Nice little place with delicious food and great services. I had fig pitachio meatloaf, and it crispy outside and delicious. They served this with arugula salad, so the meatloaf also absorbed some of the balsamic vinegar dressing on the bottom. Its pretty good with a hint of sweet from Fig and taste of potachio halves. My husband had their breakfast sandwich with the made fresh brioche. He really likes the softness of the brioche and the egg cook to perfection. We also tried their rhubarb brioche and it was also good. I dont like tart food but my husband loves it. I enjoyed the brioche and the cream filled. It seems parkings are limited. We were there on Sunday around 10 and didnt have trouble finding parking. We noticed the drive-through in front of the restaurant can be blocked up by the car waiting for their take out order, so be aware of this if you park out front.
First time visiting, everything was lovely! Food was delicious and the service was excellent. Thank you DERU team!
Getting here early in the morning isnt early enough to get seated right away, and perhaps for good reason! The quality on the food here is undeniably high, especially when it comes to their breads. You are paying a bit of a premium for the quality and I personally felt the arugula salad was a bit over-seasoned (or maybe inconsistently so with pockets of saltiness). They do a fine job packing people in to their limited space but it does feel crowded inside. Parking: We got lucky and found parking in front but I imagine youll have to look to the street for parking on most weekends.
Delish Cakes!
Everything was tasty and good. Perfect for breakfast or lunch Food
Food is good. Just a heads up that the breakfast/brunch item has much smaller portion size than the regular item.
Breakfast, brunch, or dinner. It s all a hit. Nice looking ladies tend to gather there. Food : 5/5
New favorite pizza place. DERU had been on my list for a while and when I finish went, it didnt disappoint. I tried the garlic bread and the chicken pesto pizza (without the chicken) and it was absolutely amazing. The garlic bread couldve been a little more garlicky given the thickness of the bread. The pizza was thin crust but didnt hurt the insides of my mouth. I will definitely visit again.
The hidden gem is worth a visit. While parking in the parking lot is hard, there is street parking if you re willing to walk a bit. They have take away and dine in options (which include indoor, counter or outdoor). Check in was easy and once seated you re greeted by a server who will direct you to order via a QR code. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Unlike other reviews, we had no issues adding menu items via the website and found everything to be clear. Dine in is clearly labeled as are vegetarian options. Everything we ordered was delicious. We had appetizers, salad, sandwiches and a pizza. Then we ordered coffee and pastries to go for later. All beautifully prepared and tasty. My husband ordered the pastrami sandwich and while he usually doesn t enjoy the flavor of horseradish, we both found the taste to be subtle and complimentary to the dish. We ended up spending about an hour here and found that the space was well designed for good flow and while it seemed like we were packed in, it never felt crowded. Very much a cafe vibe which we enjoyed.
This place is phenomenal. I enjoy the food and service everytime I go. Food is fresh and tasty and I have been coming here for about 5 years and plan on continuing.
I m sad to say I was highly disappointed. The wait time is crazy, but we had a reservation and still had to wait 15 minutes. The app to order was a pain, it wouldn t allow us to enter our phone number or email so we couldn t place the order. Eventually we were able to process our order, but it wasn t the best process. I ordered a margarita pizza, it arrived very charred, minimal cheese and dry basil. My husband had the chicken sandwich and it was very oily. The water was warm. The breadsticks were good. I ordered a salted caramel latte, it was watered down, but it was a bummer how hard the caramel was and it was difficult to try to scrape it with a paper straw. At the end I had to ask for my desserts and they got mixed up. The apple bread was amazing!!!! Perfect flavor, reminded me of a perfect apple pie. The peanut butter cookie was a bit dry, but was good. The restaurant had a cool vibe, but it is super congested. The mandatory tip is ridiculous when you really don t get service Parking: Congested parking and have to work around food pick up
Best pizza and food in Kirkland area, be aware it is always full and reserve ahead of time
The best food ever!
Their cake is always a must!
Im a sucker for fried chicken and the sandwich and the friend chicken with gravy was absolutely amazing. My kids loved the omelette and the breakfast sandwich. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and even though inside seating was full, it didnt take long to get seated outside. Ordering and paying through the online menu was very expedient and convenient. We will definitely keep coming back for brunch.
Great food !
Such an amazing find where you would least expect it. Sandwiches were great as were the breadsticks! Definitely will come back.
The chicken gravy was great and had a generous amount of gravy
This place sucks so bad. They were too cheap to print menus and nobody could help me order anything unless they did it on my phone and their website didn t work
My dad and I came here for lunch and the service was so atrocious we never even got to eat. We were told there was a twenty minute wait, which we decided to accept because we d heard the food was good. It turns out they pretty much lied to our faces; we ended up waiting for an hour, and when I went in to ask what was going on I was told there weren t any tables available because after customers finished their meals, the staff just let them take their sweet time sitting at their tables talking to each other. Needless to say, we left angry and hungry. Making us wait so ridiculously long because they couldn t be bothered to vacate a table was completely unacceptable. I have no idea how such an incompetently-run restaurant is still in business, and after being treated so disrespectfully I have zero intention of giving them another chance. Stay away from this place, they don t deserve your business.
Tucked away in the bustling Eastside, DERU stands as a beacon of culinary excellence and sustainable dining. This popular restaurant is not just about eating; it s about experiencing food that truly inspires. The variety of high-end entrées is impressive, offering something for everyone.
Super legit spot in a neighborhood in Kirkland, really exceptional service and laid back vibe, food is stellar!
Awful online ordering experience. We ordered a PB cake slice online, drove 30 minutes to pick up after receiving confirmation of a pickup time. Then we waited in the curbside pick up for 15 minutes just for them to tell us they were out. Why send a confirmation email for pick up if you were sold out?
Extremely delicious, healthy and nutritious Can t wait to go eat again. Very organized crew and everything is cooked to perfection Food
Delicious roast beef sandwich and a cup of wonderful salted caramel latte make for a beautiful lunch, love it and will be back soon.
The food is good but the location is not so good.
This place is great to dine in, the food is very very fresh they make everything here, and the service is excellent, staff is very friendly & helpful. The only problem was the parking and waiting, that s why I had to give 4 not 5.
Eaten here three times now. The sandwiches are the best and pretty good pizza. Not pictured, but I tried a slice of their chocolate cake and it was extremely hard. Do not recommend getting the cake here.
DERU is a hidden yet well-known gem. It is hands-down my FAVORITE restaurant I ve EVER been to. I love it for the farm-to-table and open-air ambiance. They serve meals made from scratch with locally sourced ingredients from farmers and purveyors. You can truly taste the quality and care in their food. Come here for the BEST cake EVER! Service is absolutely outstanding. You re treated like royalty here, and they re miraculously able to handle high volumes of guests with ease. Warm regards to the DERU staff, you re all amazing! Pro-tip: Join the waitlist well in advance on weekends. Also, you can t go wrong with anything you order here Vegetarian options: Plentiful veggies, salads, sandwiches, pizzas, and main dishes that are plant-friendly! Parking: Parking in front of the restaurant itself is free and available, but very limited, especially on busy weekends. However, there is ample parking across the street (be mindful of weekdays & weekends). Kid-friendliness: Plenty of options for kiddos, even though there is no kids menu. There s fries, pizzas, pastas, sandwiches, juices, cake, etc!
Great little spot in the middle where f suburbia. Flavors are great. Sandwiches and salads are great. Relatively healthy options. Decent portions except on a few dishes. Meatloaf and giant meatball? Not worth it. Non alcoholic drinks were so-so. Seating is limited so wait can be long and it can feel a bit cramped inside. More of a lunch place than dinner.
