151 Frederick Street Lower Level of Building, 151 Frederick St, Kitchener, ON N2H 2M2, Canada
KW's #1 Greek restaurant for over 25 years! Steps from the Centre in the Square & Registry Theatres. Reservations recommended. Dine In, Take Out & Catering available. Come see why everyone is yelling OPA!
I booked our work Christmas dinner with Three Kretans. They hosted us and we had a blast. The atmosphere is very cozy and all the Greek decorations make you feel like you are in Greece. The food is amazing and the service was excellent, we were a large group and they were extremely patient with us!! We will be back :)
This was our first time here. I can truly say that we are beyond impressed. This is the best Greek food we have had. I would highly recommend this fine establishment. The atmosphere feels like a Greek vacation! We are looking forward to coming back!
My wife and I came here craving Greek food on a Monday evening and we weren't disappointed. The restaurant is located in the basement of a larger building. I know that might deter some folks, but the entire floor is dedicated to the restaurant and gives it a really special atmosphere. The color scheme is familiar to what you'd expect in the islands in Greece. The service was friendly, checking in on us regularly and making sure we had everything we needed. The owner even came to our table to have a drink with us! It's the type of small business you want to support. Haven't talked about the food yet, but it was absolutely fantastic. I had the Pikilia which was a combination of Gyro meat, Chicken and Pork Souvlaki, the grape leaf wrap (not it's actual name but it's escaping me right now) rice and Greek salad. It was a solid amount of food with great flavor. I highly recommend it if you're craving authentic Greek food in Canada. For parking, they have a lot of private parking spots next to the building for folks to park.
First time I came here was honestly bad. It was right before an event at the Aud, so they were overwhelmed. My other visits have been nice though I still think they could improve on customer service. The food for its price is good especially for Greek. I really enjoy the decor especially is the blue section with the pink flowers.
The food was great, the service was great, but the noise was way too loud. I could barely hear the person beside me. If the music volume was lowered or turned off completely when the theatre menu is needed, that would be great. Otherwise, everything else was great.
We had dinner at Kretans yesterday for the first time! The restaurant is at a lower level of a building, and you will need to look for the sign of the restaurant at the side of the building yo find it. The restaurant setting is nice. We ordered Saganaki as an appetizer and chicken and pork Souvlakis for main meal. The Saganaki was not done well as we expected the cheese to be kinda melted, but the cheese was still a bit firm. The souvlakis skewer was too small, did not taste like souvlaki and it looked like it was fried on a hot plate rather than grilled because my pork souvlaki was burned on one side and was a bit oily! The salad was too little, the roast potatoes were overdone, and the rice was tasteless. Overall, the quality of food was less than street food, and we got less value for the money we paid. The level of the service needs a lot of improvement as the service level demonstrated was at a fast food level and not a restaurant! The server shouldn't forget what you have ordered, and you shouldn't need to ask for a portion of the order they forgot to bring you! We ordered Baklava and Greek coffee for dessert, which was very good!
First, this place is basically across the street from the Registry Theatre and a short walk from the Centre in the Square. A great spot for dinner before a show. The Greek salad is delicious, fresh ingredients and a nicely balanced dressing. The feta cheese is present in every bite and super creamy, not the firm, chewy type. The pork souvlaki is nicely presented on the skewer and is a good portion. Greek potato’s are lemony and have a slightly crisp exterior with a soft fluffy inside. The rice is nicely seasoned and perfectly cooked. The atmosphere is a little dark, but it makes for an intimate setting. It would also be suitable for groups or a meeting. They have a flaming cheese appetizer. I am told it is delicious and they literally light it on fire in the dining room. We saw it, but had already ordered. Besides, now we have a reason to go back!
Had a great evening here with my dad for dinner. The decor is amazing and the atmosphere is so enjoyable. Our server and the manager, Shawn, made sure we had a wonderful time and was very gracious. Had amazing cocktails, my dad had the martini and I had a cocktail with empress gin and it was so good. We started with the saganaki cheese which they wonderfully split in two. With our mains we had a great Greek red wine and afterwards we had dessert which was also wonderful and brought out with a candle as it was my dads birthday. Highly recommend !!
The best Greek food in town! The people at this restaurant are amazing. Djole and his team went above and beyond to make sure that the experience was nothing short of greatness. They listened to what our needs were and adjusted accordingly with their expertise. Chicken souvlaki - 10/10 super juicy and grilled beautifully Moussaka (vegetarian) 100/10- the vegetables were layered and cooked to perfection. The creamy mix of potatoes on top add a lovely depth to the dish. Spanikopita bites 10/10 - on point and delicious Rice - flavorful Potatoes - super yummy Overall, nothing but great things to say about this team. Love them! Vegetarian options: Moussaka Tsaztiki and pita
OPA. Was delicious !!
We contacted Three Kretans 18 days in advance prior to our Christmas Lunch Event to order takeout. After speaking to someone over the phone, we were advised itll be no problem but theyre in the middle of a meeting and if we can call back later - we have. We were then instructed to send an email with our menu and preferences. This was all worked out by Friday, Dec.6th (still 14 days prior to our event), however after confirming the order, few days later they got back to us and told us that they will not be able to fulfill our order anymore. This now leaves our party with even less time and choices and we are extremely disappointed especially since this isnt the first time weve ordered from them, but it looks like itll be the last. Their service has deteriorated, be cautious.
Wonderful dining experience.
Went for the first time a couple of weeks ago and loved it. The chicken was cooked so tender and full of flavor. Will definitely be going back any time theres a concert at Centre in The Square.
Food was absolutely delicious, chicken was so juicy and fresh, rice was amazing, salad and potatoes were soo good. Only complaint is service was terrible. Server never came to our table, but went to others right beside us. Will definitely be returning based off how amazing the food was.
Loved this place! Beautiful restaurant, friendly staff and the Greek food was amazing... We hope to be back again soon!
Having eaten at this establishment many times in the past, I was more than simply disappointed at last nights dinner. Imagine waiting to place an order for appetizers that the waitress forgot to ask and then the appetizers were delivered to the wrong table so we needed to wait extra long! The waitress brought Greek salad to try and make up for the weight but we sent it back because it was already a part of the meal. No other apologies like free wine or a free meal or anything so its the last time we will eat there and a huge disappointment when I know the previous owners were exceptional in their management of the business.
I really enjoyed my dining experience. I recommend a reservation. Excellent food, service, atmosphere and pricing.
Went here for lunch with some people from work. Really good Greek authentic food!
Beautiful decor, traditional Greek music. Great food and lovely staff. Very clean.
Yummy meal. Delightful staff but could have used a few more people working the tables. Busy night due to Centre in the Square show, but I expect they would anticipate that.
A large Greek restaurant venue with tasty traditional dishes and excellent service Vegetarian options: Vegetarian platter with village salad was great. Need to be better explained for vegan diners. Not all options listed were available. Parking: No building parking available for restaurant customers. 2hr free parking on close side streets (5min walk)
this place is a hidden gem. I found this restaurant while going to visit family and wanted to try it out. Food was amazing, service was great and the atmosphere is perfect for pictures. I ll definitely be coming back with my friends.
Leanna was absolutely amazing. The food was incredible. The atmosphere was calming and the staff was awesome. I recommend it so much.
Always excellent food. Quick service on a theatre night.
My first time being here, was very impressed! The decor is amazing, they provide wifi as cell service isnt great with the restaurant in the basement. I had the calamari, it was cooked very well though I found the breading to be quite thick. The Gyro pita was excellent, fries had a nice seasoning on them so they didnt require salt. I found the prices to be reasonable
Great Greek food.
Wonderful place, the taste is incredible, and last but not least the awesome service.
Three Kretans Never disappoints! We have frequented this restaurant for the past 4 years, this was our first time actually eating at the restaurant. The renovation was beautifully done, the restaurant is clean and bright and the staff was friendly and have top notch service! The Greek beer recommendation was fantastic! The food was hot and flavourful and the portions were huge! But we knew that! BEST Greek food in the region, we will definitely continue to enjoy this restaurant!
We ordered two Greek chicken salads for lunch each ($15.95). Unfortunately, the salad didn t meet our expectations and I feel I paid so much for so little. Not a lot of toppings and overall a small portion for what we paid. I had 4 small pieces of chicken, while my colleague had a bit more. Maybe half a tomato and a small amount of red onion. I wish we d ordered something different. The chicken seasoning and atmosphere was beautiful though.
Fantastic food, amazing atmosphere and decor with incredible service. We really enjoyed the Lamb Souvlaki and the Salmon, as well as the best baklava I ve ever had. We absolutely will be coming back again!
Ive ordered catering from here many times. The service is always amazing, and the food has always exceeded expectations. Highly recommend!
Maybe some authenticity going on here, the staff was super nice and the environment was cool. I wasnt a huge fan of the food but I dont LOVE Greek food so its unfair to say it wasnt very good. Dont be afraid to park in the parking lot because of the signs. It threw us off and I had to move the cars from paid parking to their free parking . The name on the sign is the group that owns the plaza
We were very disappointed in the quality. The chicken and lamb were very good and tender but the rice and potatoes were very salty that I couldn t finish it.
This place has really changed post renovations. Its absolutely perfect for a date night spot. The atmosphere is so gorgeous, the staff are friendly, the food and drinks are great and the prices are fair. I highly reccomend the mousakka and the lemon chicken soup!
I had an amazing experience here! Staff is so friendly and welcoming, and you really feel as though you re in Greece.
I ordered food at 2:00pm with 5:30 to 6:00pm schedule, but they suddenly cancelled without explanation at the delivery time of 5:30pm. They should have cancelled when they got my order, but how come they cancelled it at the time to be delivered.
Wait staff was a little undermanned this evening (about a 30 minute wait)but eventually they got to us and everything went fine. Food was deliscious and our waitress was exceptional!
Food is great here, simple options and good sized portions that taste great. It hits the spot where you re craving greek. It is one of the most aesthetic restaurants i ve been to in KW. Although both times I have been they only have one server working; making service slow.
We ordered delivery from Three Kretans for the first time yesterday and were blown away at how delicious everything is. Weve had Greek before, generally from chain restaurants and there is quite frankly no comparison. The skewers were moist, the potatoes were perfectly flavoured, and the baklava was heavenly. And Im not embellishing. The best Greek in the region, hands down.
Intense flavours that feel almost artificial, lacks any sense or feel of traditional Greek food. Meat was tough and lumpy, full of inedible parts. Hair in rice.
What a lovely little hole in the wall! It was great to discover this place with my colleague. the chicken pita was delicious. Food
Great Greek food, excellent service, perfect place for lunch meetings!
Sadly we returned and unfortunately did not have the same experience the food was not near as good. The waitress wasbvery cold and unfriendly. There were items missing from the menu and her cold personality unfortunately would not encourage us to come back again... .... Absolute fantastic dinner later, food was delicious and we couldnt have asked fora more friendly and Interactive waiter. Fantastic job with a eight person table. He laughed along with us got all of our orders perfect definitely made our experience that much better. We will definitely be back thank you the dart ladies
Paid $26 for this portion size ! Is this a joke. Food
Good food and great atmosphere. Highly recommend
We were excited for our dinner out after having ordered takeout many times in 2021. Unfortunately we were disappointed by the portion size (much smaller than it used to be), the quality of the food and the service was poor at best. We ordered the Saganaki which was very rubbery and tasted like Kraft cheese slices. The souvlaki was just ok. Our waitress was cold and very inattentive from the start. Unfortunately we don t plan to return.
A nice hidden gem in Waterloo! Great foods, great decor, great service. We will definitely be back
Good food, friendly staff, open late. Cant ask for more.
The appetizers were particularly great - the poutine (not a poutine at all) was super delicious, with great fries, and the dips+pita were good, with the best dip being definitely the red pepper one.
A beautiful place staffed by great people, the food was fantastic I would have given the food 10 stars if I could.
My sister treated me to lunch and the food was amazing. Sean took very good care of us. The ambiance, the cocktails and food was so good. Will highly recommend to my friends and we will definitely be coming back
My boyfriend and I came here for our anniversary and we enjoyed everything. The service is amazing, our waitress Sparrow is super friendly and gave us excellent recommendations. The food is great, I love love love the lamb chops, along with the desserts. My boyfriend is still asking me to come back just for the bougatsa. We ll definitely be back!
I cant leave a review about the food or Atmosphere due to the fact we could not get in. A reservation was made, by phone, a month and a half prior to our night out. When we arrived at the restaurant we were told there was no reservation. The person at the desk was dismissive and made us feel like we were a nuisance!! Apparently they can take a reservation but keeping it is a different story!!
Clean, warm ambiance with a light greek touch. Knowledgeable attentive, unobtrusive staff. Warm, smartly prepared and excellently served food! I highly recommend the tadzikie. Food
Fabulous tasty Greek Food! Perfect portions, delicious and flavourful! Great service and lovely and clean restaurant! Highly recommend this place!
Good food and great service
We shared the platter for 2 among 3 people with a couple added appetizers. Everything was delicious and the service was great Wheelchair accessibility: Theres a back way to use an elevator but they could do a better job of communicating its availability because when we were there there was someone struggling with the stairs with a walker
Awesome food. Great service
Rudest staff ever seen.
We had a wonderful girls night there with amazing food and service
Go see for yourself. You wont be disappointed.
Got some takeout here and it was really good!
I have delivery from this restaurant quite a bit and always have their Greek salad with chicken. The BEST in the tri cities
Quality of food does not match the restaurant.
Amazing place!
Great food and service.
Just celebrated a birthday tonight. Our waitress was absolutely amazing .She has a gift of service for sure. The food was generous in size with lots of flavour. We hope to return. THANKS for a great night.
Made the mistake of ordering from this restaurant on Skip. Firstly, the order was made wrong as we asked for a gyro dinner plate and got chicken souvlaki. Secondly, the food was bland and the tzatziki tasted like it came out of a tub from Wholesale Club. Lastly, the food portions were disgustingly small for them having charged $21 for a dinner plate that they can t even prepare as per your order. Should have named the establishment Three Cretins. EDIT: I frankly wouldn t even trust this restaurant to make anything better were they willing to make amends anyway. Expect disappointment; the food is simply not good. Probably a result of the owner reading Google Reviews all day rather than overseeing their establishment which seems to be falling apart. Do better.
Great food. Really good meat and a great salad
Very nice waiter good charisma. Quiet restaurant when we went (Saturday night), and food was flavoured nicely and a decent portion. Couldve been hotter, and thats really my only comment. I enjoyed it!! Also beautiful design and I hear itll become even nicer soon :) Worth a visit. Update: We visited again for sit-in after 6 months and they remembered us and were so hospitable and shared a wonderful drink (Arak) w us. From my family: We felt at home! Made our night for sure. And, the food was hot and arrived so quickly, so my only comment from last time was solved. Whether or not you like Greek food (but you should), these are the types of people you want to keep in business :) Parking: Outside parking lot is on quite a steep hill, so if your car is low to the ground maybe consider finding other parking.
All in all was AMAZINGLY GREAT . Feels like home enjoyed every bite and had a great time. What added great pleasure to all was the great glass of Zahle Lebanese Arak. It was a memorable pleasant dinner. Great Thanks to Sean and our cheerful waitress. Vegetarian options: Veggie platter that comes with Greek salad, rice, roast potato and hot spinakova.
Good food. Good ambiance. Good service.
Im so mad Ive lived in Kitchener my whole life and only recently went here. But I loved it so much, went twice in the same week. The food is sooo good! The service was amazing and the decor is so pretty. Itll will be one of my new go tos.
Best greek food Ive ever had!
Beautiful restaurant with great ambience. We were there for a business lunch and the food was amazing and the service fantastic!
Very good chicken souvlaki
The renovated restaurant was packed before a concert when we were there. The waitress did a fabulous job of taking our orders and delivering our food promptly. I had the chicken souvlaki and substituted fries for the rice and potatoes. It was delicious. Everyone in our party loved their food. The only negative was the parking. It was weirdly labeled so we werent sure we could park there. The driveway up to the upper parking is so steep that the front end of our car scraped the ground. Despite the parking issues, the food and service more than made up for it and we will definitely be returning again.
Three Kretans! What can I say? It s the bee s knees, the absolute best spot on the planet. My husband, the Dora of the culinary world ( as I like to call him) discovered this spot for our anniversary, and boy, was I floored! Let s talk about the ambience first. It s the ultimate spot for a romantic date night or a cozy valentine evening. The music sets the mood just right, and the decor? Simple yet classy. Now, onto the food scene. We ordered dolmadakia, gyro on a pita, lamb souvlaki, and Baklava for a sweet ending. Each dish was like unlocking a flavour treasure chest!! And the wine, Apelia, it was like silk. Wait, there s more. The customer service? Exceptional. Our server, Ljiljana, was like the Greek goddess Hestia incarnate. She not only ensured we savoured every bite but also dropped some knowledge bombs on how to pair the wine and the food. Now here s where it gets really sweet - we decided to split a baklava, thinking we couldn t handle more. Without a word, Ljiljana divvied it up for us, sparing us the work. Talk about anticipating our needs! After settling the bill, I couldn t shake the feeling of not knowing our server s name. So, I hurried back to ask for it, eager to mention her in my review. But she kept proving how sweet she was by insisting that I leave a general review! But the other staff, a gentleman, wrote her name on a piece of paper and handed it to me. And I also got to meet the chef. God bless his hands! We thanked them for making our anniversary extra special, and you won t believe - they gave us an anniversary gift, a tiramisu! Long story short, Three Kretans made our day, and then some. If you find yourself in the area, do yourself a favour and pay them a visit. You won t regret it.
The food was excellent here. Had the chicken souvlaki, but I especially wanted to comment on the excellent service. We came in the evening and didnt realize there was a street level entrance, and tried to buzz into the commercial building to use the elevator (Its the entrance for those who cant use stairs). The waiter literally ran up thinking we were in a wheelchair and wanting to help us in. Was really awesome of him!
Awesome service with mind blowing hospitality and lots of choices with different dishes, would highly recommend
Great food, service and atmosphere. Perfect pre-show dining.
Food was great, prices very fair. Service was great, other than they lost our reservation, but they made things right! Will certainly go back!
Fantasic service and incredible food. Highly reccomend
Best of the best looks amazing inside great food give it a try!
I love Three Kretans Greek Restaurant! The food is always tasty. We almost always have the 3 dip appetizer, the special soup with chicken, rice and lemon, and then one of the souvlaki dinners or moussaka. Sometimes we share a baklava. It is always delicious and the service is very friendly.
Wonderful atmosphere, but food wasn t something I d return for. Vegetarian options were uninteresting. Bathrooms were also really disgusting!
This little hidden gem caters to the theatre people. So if youre not into that crowd, avoid the pre show dinner rush by giving Center in the Square a quick Google prior to visiting.. Looking forward to going back to see what this unique place has to offer.
Loved the food and ambience. Our server was very sweet and she even brought a candle with dessert for my friend as we were celebrating his birthday. Their saganaki cheese is a must try. Would love to visit again. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options available.
I recently had dilivery from here. Quick dilivery. The food was good but not great. I really enjoyed the lamb ribs. Unfortunately, my wife and I both had food poisoning from the soup.
Spent new year eve dec. 31 2023 Had amazing time great chef and dinner especially for people who is vegan. Staff friendly and have amazing personality and the atmosphere was great. Good vibes inside. Highly recommend ! Food
Favourite Greek spot in town!! Owner, staff and food are always amazing !
Worth walking through a blizzard for. Beautiful interior, delicious food, great service.
Fantastic food with amazing variety! I had the Three Kretans Pikilia and my partner had the moussaka. In addition to their regular menu they have a gluten free and vegan menu. Atmosphere is so cute and its incredibly clean. Waitstaff made good suggestions and took my friends allergies very seriously. Will be dining again (a lot)!!
When you are craving Greek this is your restaurant! Not only is the food absolutely taste, the staff is so wonderful! I have had Kathy serve me a few times, and I go back for her as well! Shes always so friendly and always makes my experience nice! The portions are huge thanks to the amazing chef in the kitchen! He even came out to ask how my food was the last time I was there! If I could give ten starts I would!
My wife and I recently ate here and everything about the experience was wonderful. We had Kathy as our waitress and she was awesome which made our first time dining here very memorable for us! We will definitely be back! Keep up the great work!
We ordered from Three Kretans for an office lunch and the food was delivered timely, arrived hot, and prepared beautifully. Everything tasted great, especially the lemon potatoes and spanakopita. Management was helpful in figuring out what to order for both the number of people and dietary restrictions. They were also flexible when rescheduling due to bad weather conditions. Vegetarian options: We went with the vegetarian moussaka and the bottom was full of eggplant and zucchini.
Thank you SO much Three Kretans. My absolute favourite and go to for authentic Greek food. Delicious menu, very kind and friendly staff and always provide great service. Their Greek Salad is so good and they have the best tzatziki. Chicken souvlaki dinner, moussaka and baklava are a few of my favourites and never disappoint. Thank you so much for being so delicious and wonderful!
The food is really good here. I really love the Greek saled and gyro dinner. The pita is amazing!! Staff is super friendly and service was quick. I have ordered from here a few time and will always use them as my go to Greek restaurant.
One of the best dining experiences Ive had in the area. The dishes are of excellent quality, freshness, and value. Staff is incredibly friendly and restaurant is both welcoming and clean. Wholesomely recommended. Thank you for your kindness, we hope to return to visit you soon!
Ordered delivery, yummm! The best spanakopita, Greek salad and chicken soup I have ever tasted.. The pita wasnt upto the mark.. Will definitely be back in person.
I just moved into the area and gound this great place with delicious food, great service. I Im looking forward to dining in next time.
A hidden treat in Kitchener.
Had a nice walk-in dining experience on a friday night with an attentive server. Restaurant decor was charming, and Souvlaki was great!
Great food here! I have eaten in and also got take out and will definitely be back.
Amazing food. Fantastic service and a very welcoming staff. They really make your meals special. Would definitely recommend this place. Vegetarian options: They have good options for vegetarian food. Parking: Lot s of parking available even though they are in middle of downtown.
Great place for lunch or on a show night. Parking: Parking available for events at the CITS Food : 5/5 |
Went here for lunch, for the first time. It was amazing! Authentic Greek food! Keep up the great work to all.
Another favorite to add to my list. KW is definitely not disappointing. We have some great hidden GEMS here and NY taste buds are happy to find them. My experience at Three Kretans was great. The staff was friendly. I was greeted upon arrival with a warm welcome as she pointed out the lunch menu and recommended their top meals. The atmosphere itself was a whole vibe. Nicely decorated with great music made me feel like I was in Greece. Even though Ive never been to Greece lol. The only negative was the washroom was out of service and parking sucks. However, no points lost because they did have someone in servicing the washroom and apologized for the inconvenience. And parking I got a ticket that allowed me to not get a real ticket for parking in a reserved lot. The waitress explained if you come over lunch parking lots 7-14 is theirs to use for free with no concerns for getting a ticket and if the lot is full, shell give a little ticket to put in your dashboard to avoid getting a ticket. I got one of those as I parked in #33. The food. Lets get to the real reason why we are here. Honey! The food was banging!!! Soooo good. Fresh, authentic Greek food. Great portions and cooked to perfection. My chicken soulaki cost me a little under $20 which is almost the same price of my McChicken meal. But sooo much healthier and delicious, you cant even compare the two. I highly recommend you trying this place. You and your taste buds will not be disappointed. 5 stars all around! Parking: Signs state authoritied parking so it appears theres nowhere to park. The top lot has a steep hill that scratched the bottom of my car going up and coming down. Had to get my parking validated to use the lot as the free spots were taken.
Definitely a must try when in Kitchener for Greek food. The atmosphere is amazing, and I love what they did to the decor of the place. Its in a basement so there arent really any windows or natural light but they made it feel really cozy. The food is outstanding, Ive tried the moussaka, souvlaki and stifatho, and of them tasted amazing and as expected, the portion sizes are very good. Their meals tasted just like home. Highly recommend!
We arrived at 7:00 on a Saturday and were told that there were no tables - except that we could see that there were 10-12 empty tables, and more tables emptying as we stood there. (We should have left except that most places in the downtown close around 8pm.) The food was very average food (with the exception of the three mezes appetizers which was really good.) The chicken souvlaki was fine but without alot of flavour. The lemon potatoes were loaded with an odd brown but lemon tasting gravy. The sangria was a half glass of white wine, ginger ale and berries flopped in as an afterthought. We felt unwelcome from start to finish.
Always a great experience! Best Greek food!!
Great good and service. Will be returning for sure. Food
Food was terrible. Chicken was frozen skewers purchased from a big box grocery store and rice was minute rice that was over salted. Portions were small for what you paid $30+ per person. Service was meh. Waitress came by, took our door and gave us the bill. Didn t check in to see how the food was. I ve made chicken souvlaki at home for a fraction of the cost that tasted way better. Parking: Parking is awkward to get to - you have to drive up a very steep and narrow ramp. Kid-friendliness: Kids were dining in while we were there, although we didn t bring ours with us.
Great place quite excellent service food was delicious. Had flaming appetizer saganaki Parking: Free parking behind Restaurant
Food was good, service was not great. We wanted to order more food but the server didnt even give us a chance. Very disappointing service
I recommend the baklava
Two friends took me to Three Kretans for my birthday dinner. We all enjoyed our shared appetizers, main dishes, and deserts. The Humus with Pita bread was a great choice for 3 people, as was the Saganaki OPA! The Souvlaki dinners are served with a separate salad. If they were both on one plate, you would get an even better sense of the sizable portion that it is. Coffee and very high quality deserts rounded out a filling meal. We took home a couple of containers of leftovers (including an extra order of desert). Our server, Melanie, was very good in her role looking after us, and we enjoyed a few laughs together. If you like a place where youre not crowded next to other diners, this is the place for you. The tables are spread out over two levels, and its all very comfortable. For this visit (our first) we give Three Kretans a full 10 out of 10. The photos, in order, are Humus, Saganaki, Cream of Broccoli, Greek Salad, Chicken Souvlaki, Moussaka, Tiramisu, and Bougatsa.
$23 for a cup of rice and two potatoes and ONE chicken skewer? Tasted the same as fast food Greek. The prior photos are not accurate.
Didnt eat here but tried to. Came here for a weekday lunch. There were only two tables with people. Waited for a good while and the waitress didnt even care saying a single word, no greetings, no nothing even after passing in front of me multiple times. Was excited to try a Greek nearby, I dont think well ever want to try here after this.
Great place for pre- theatre dinner. Plus the parking is free. Parking: If you eat at 3 Kretans, theatre parking is free Food : 5/5 |
We have been twice, and neither time was great. Nice folks, but sub-par food, and decor from the 1990s. If you go, get the chicken not the lamb.
We ordered Three Kretans for takeaway lunch, and it was amazing! I got the chicken souvlaki pita and greek salad, and the chicken was just melt in your mouth. The ordering process was also so easy online, and the pick-up was great. It was still incredible after its trek from restaurant to work. I honestly cant wait to have a full dine in experience sometime!
Great atmosphere, very cute set up. Food was ok, meat was a bit dry for both the gyro and chicken. Service was fast
Food was good, but the portions are very small
Second visit before an event at Centre in the Square. The food has been excellent, service is good, venue is clean. Will happily return.
Best souvlaki
We really enjoy the Greek ambience and food at Three Kretans. Service was excellent. Food
Always the most authentic Greek food in town! Love the new renovations as well.
Maybe an off day. The mousaka is usually great but today had tough pieces of eggplant skin. Fresh greek salad excellent. Very clean premises. Attentive server.
We were given The Theatre.menus despite it being most decidedly not a theatre event night for any of the nearby venues. Ordered the Village salad upgrade to my souvlaki and was sorely disappointed in its paltry flavour and the skimpy 2 olives and light sprinkle of feta that might as well have been left off. Ordered the lamb souvlaki as a splurge and was asked how I wanted it (with the usual rare thru well done options). I asked for medium-rare. It came out so well-done that it was difficult to cut much less chew. Did not get to taste the meat anyway as the only way to choke it down was to cover it in tzaziki. Why didnt I send it back? Because we didnt see the server again until she was clearing our plates! And even then she didnt ask how things were. It was NOT busy. There were 2 other tables aside from ours. Based on tonights experience, I dont plan to ever return. It had been my favourite KW restaurant, and I recommended it to others literally more often than weekly. But no more. I simply cannot send unwitting visitors to our city to that disappointing establishment. ... looking for a new Greek restaurant. Its my favourite cuisine, but not like how Three Kretans just served it. Parking: The driveway hill into the parking lot is extremely steep and you will 100% scrape the bottom of your car, both coming and going, as you attempt to enter/exit it.
Staff was closing early but we got seated and had a quick dinner. Havent been here for a few years and forgot how good it was.. definitely be back.
Good little Greek restaurant located near the Centre in the Square. Try the Souvlaki
Probably the only Greek restaurant in the world with NO lamb chops. Hint: a supermarket is close by. We had to ask for the full menu, as we were only given the theatre menu. ?? Not great food. Washrooms were gross. Only one other table there while we dined. Our brave server was great. She had to try to explain the problems. I suspect he end is near.
Food was not good. If you could call it food.
When you order the dinner for 2 dinner plates would have been nice. Most restaurants pour your first glass of wine, not tension let you taste it first......nope dump and run. Food was mediocre at best. Potatoes were mushy, rice was like rice a roni, mousaka was over cooked, bottom layer was burnt..... Never again
Really great service, food is tasty and home-like. Their portions are hearty, meat skewers were juicy. Excellent place to take the family.
Perhaps there is a new cook thats been hired in the last 6 months.....? My first visit was great, the food was delicious. My second visit was a different story, and there will not be a third visit. The appetizer (spanikopita)was soggy, greasy, and inedible. The combonation souvlaki entree was horrible - undercooked chicken (salmonella waiting to happen) and overcooked and very tough pork. The lemon potatoes that I previously loved were still crunchy and so strongly seasoned that it was difficult to eat. The Greek salad was the only enjoyable portion. I will not return and I highly encourage others to avoid their food.
They were out of lamb. Wine was served at room temperature. Sangria was bland. Appetizer was just ok, a bit too dry. Souvlaki was ok, potatoes were the best part. Service is good. Bathroom is disgusting. Not coming back.
Parking: Park in any spot that says Lowland. Theres a lower level and higher level in back. Note its a one way street turning off of Frederick Street Food : 5/5
Went with a few friends and it was a surprising local find. Great decor and a fun entranceway with Greece-inspired blue/white painted stone tiles leading downstairs to the restaurant. Our experience was very tasty with the lamb souvlaki plate (tender and fall off the skewers, flavourful tzatziki, rice, salad and really enjoyed the soft tangy lemon roasted potatoes), saganaki opa! (fun little Pyro show with savoury cheese complemented nicely with pita slices), and the spanakopita was a delicious appetizer. Parking: Parked without problem in the lot around the corner to the same attached building after checking with staff. Also seemed to have more parking just above the entrance.
Very comforting and welcoming place, the staff are happy and love what they do! Got a pork and chicken skewer, gyro meat, and a classic greek salad for take out and had it on lunch during work, everything was fresh and flavourful and the portions were perfect. Salad dressing wasnt overpowering, tzatziki sauce was creamy and tasty.
Went with a large group and the service was very hospitable. Server was friendly. Even the chef came out to greet us. They care about personal touch. I had the gyro dinner, it was very tasty. The baklava is unbelievable. I would eat here again.
Had an amazing date night at Three Kretans last night. Service from Sparrow was incredible - she was so patient, kind, and frequently checked in on us. The atmosphere was lovely! The interior is beautiful and reminds me so much of the time I spent in Greece. We ordered multiple appetizers, two entrees and the baklava. I was so happy to see that they had multiple vegetarian options. Everything tasted amazing. Prices were fair and portions were just enough to fill us up. The bruschetta, saganaki and mains were so tasty. The baklava was also a hit! Definitely the best Greek food I ve tried in the region.
Sparrow was our server and she was so lovely! Perfect dining experience.
Delicious food, great service.
Delicious food, very polite and friendly staff, nice atmosphere
We had a pleasant experience at the restaurant. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was very tasty. It s a must try :)
I dont like pepper and the potatoes had to much pepper and lemon.
My husband and I had chicken souvlaki and moussaka. Both came with Greek salad. My salad had onion skins. His salad came with dressing that wasnt right. It was dark brown, the colour of gravy. Mine was the normal pale yellow. Also, we got one huge chunk of tomato each. Very awkward to eat.
Excellent service. Good food and they painted it in white so it looks beautifully bright and clean. Great improvement for sure!
Fantastic food and they give you a lot. Went with family to celebrate my birthday , even got a free dessert thanks again , well be back Wheelchair accessibility: They have an elevator
Ordered Uber last Friday, was disappointed. No seasoning, no flavour. Difficult to eat. The bread was good though. Had high hopes for authentic Mediterranean. Ordered 2 chicken souvlaki dinners. Such a weird experience.
A great meal with attentive wait staff and nice hot pots of tea. Authentic Greek fare well made. Parking: The upper parking lot is difficult to access with low riding vehicles. Use the lower parking lot off of Frederick if you value your rocker panels.
Mediocre. Nothing worthwhile returning for
Do your self a favour and eat here. I got the Greek dinner for 2 for takeout and I cannot stop raving about it. Everything included was perfect. All the meat was SO JUICY. I usually avoid ordering chicken souvlaki because it s always dry, but not here! It was cooked to perfection the mousaka and dolomadakia was also delicious. And the dessert!!!! I will definitely be returning to dine in and I highly recommend you do as well
This place used to be our go to but the last 2 times have been a real let down. Not sure if its a new chef or what but its no longer the same. Potatoes are soggy and mushy. They forgot to include a salad for take out and the other one was half empty and really mediocre. Its a Greek place, and their salad used to be great.. The chicken skewers tasted off, like different quality of chicken or something. We will now be looking at the other Greek options sadly.
This is the most authentic avgolemono Ive had in a restaurant in all of Canada. This is my new comfort food. Definitely try this place.
Quality of food does not match the restaurant. Ordered take out and the chicken souvlaki was under cooked even though I asked for it to be grilled longer and was one small chicken skewer for a dinner entree , potatoes were very over cooked and for the price point of the meal it doesn t match how much they give you. The salad was okay until you bit into the large half cut tomato that was just thrown in. Overall wouldn t return or order from here again.
Great service, really enjoyed a pre show meal here. Parking is a bit confusing, but apparently the rule is take any open spot after 5pm.
Best Greek Ive ever had!
We had a very nice spur of the moment meal here. The platter was pretty terrific giving a good chance to try a little of everything. Tonight things were done well! Thanks!! Parking: Park in any reserved spot and you are good to go !
Love all the new renovations the baked salmon was delicious
Had a lack luster server, and tried ordering several drinks but were out of mundane liquors for their advertised cocktails. Food was delicious but the server was the talk of the night, having a poor attitude and not very knowledgeable on what items the restaurant had in stock for the night and knew next to nothing about the meals we inquired about.
My first time there and I was not disappointed. Great food great service!
Not impressed by the food as expected according to the reviews. Souvlaki good but the gyro food reheated dry and then added too much oil to fry it or something
Fantastic little Greek restaurant. Great personalized service!!
Tasted good but literally came as if it was half eaten. Maybe sitting at the restaurant is better than take out
It was a very busy evening and everything was top notch.
It was our first time here and we loved it. The food was amazing and the service was the best!
My GF and I came in Wednesday September 21st at 7pm (dinner time) and there was only 1 other couple there. That should have been a clear indication to leave but we stayed. We both had chicken souvlaki dinner. The chicken was actually tasty but the potatoes were completely unedible with overwhelming salty flavour and the rice was dried out and gross. We told the server and she tried to rectify with a free dessert. She did well and service was great. After being very dissatisfied, I walked to the cashier to pay, mentioning can I just pay for this meal now, we need to go get a pizza she didnt even bat an eye, charged us full price and we left. No wonder the place was dead. Keep the $60 bucks, I have a feeling youll need it as you try to stay afloat. Our pie from Pizza Pizza however, was top notch.
I believe Ive e been to every Greek/Mediterranean restaurant in Kitchener-Waterloo. Every time I have tried the Baklava. Three Kretans is the best by a long shot.
Recently hosted an event at this restaurant and the new management did not disappoint. We had a customized off menu meal and it was absolutely delicious. The staff did an amazing job catering to all our needs. Place is fully renovated, looking very fresh and I can t wait to host my next party here.
Incredible food and excellent customer service.
Everything was wonderful! Food and service Wheelchair accessibility: Restaurant is in the basement so no wheelchair accessibility.
The best Greek food you can get this side of Toronto.
Decent greek cuisine and friendly efficient service. Free theater parking provided as well
Best Greek in town!
I recently went back after they finished their renovations. Place looks very nice, but I am disappointed that it seems like they changed their menu and possibly also the cook? The souvlaki portions were smaller and the chicken salad was not as tasty and too salty.
Bomb off
One of the best restaurants in Kitchener. My father in law knows the owners personally and they are some of the kindest people Ive ever met. It really trickles down to how the restaurant is run. The food is excellent and the staff is friendly. I highly recommend this place! Parking: Good parking accommodation.
Food was good for the cost ,but if your in a wheelchair it s not a good place to go it was very upsetting. They don t think about people in a wheelchair at this place. Will not go back ! Wheelchair accessibility: No bathrooms if you use a wheelchair there, and men s bathroom was very dirty And very small.
Amazing great food! Spanakopita was so good I could have eaten another one and the Moussaka was fantastic! Really worth the visit! Really friendly staff who went over and above with great service.
Love this place - arguably the BEST Greek food in KW. You also wont find service as friendly and attentive anywhere else! Also, since prices are high everywhere these days, its not the most important point of my review, but definitely worth noting... theyve somehow managed to keep their pricing VERY reasonable here, and I really appreciate being able to enjoy a great meal without breaking the bank. Theres a reason this gem has been around for so long... IYKYK!
2022 has been an incredible year for this restaurant. The food got better (it was already pretty good but now its incredible), the service is fantastic and the renovations create more modern of an atmosphere (I could hang out at the new bar for hours!). Keep up the good work and Ill be back many, many times! Vegetarian options: Handful of options here! Parking: 8 spots on the Frederick side and virtually the whole lot for dinners. Better parking than any restaurant downtown. Kid-friendliness: Everyone is welcome. Great staff. Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible entrance on Frederick
We came here on a busy Saturday night in October and although we had to wait awhile to get our bill, the staff were outstanding. The food was very good, and the portion size was generous.
We had not been in since the change in ownership. We were not disappointed. The staff were attentive and the food was delicious. We will definitely be back and recommend it. Thank you
Hi I am writing this review concerning my waitress Kathy. While I was eating I could hear yelling while I was trying to enjoy my meal and it sounded like she was harassing her co workers. I think it is so unprofessional, everyone else there was very welcoming, except for her. Do better.
