265 King St E, Kitchener, ON N2G 4N4, Canada
A small Korean restaurant. Please note: not an all you can eat BBQ restaurant. Self-grill is only available for Pork Belly.
The pork bone stew is one of the best meals I've had in a long time. Each of the sides has its own place in this dining experience, but the pork bone stew makes me feel all kinds of good and it deserves more stars. Value for money is through the roof in this unsuspecting, hidden gem.
We had the bulgogi and bone soup. Both were very delicious, and the restaurant's authentic atmosphere was great. The prices were reasonable, and we left feeling full and happy!
Came here for the 1st time and it is worth my money. I ordered small pork bone soup and it was really good! For $12.99 its worth it comes with rice and 4 small apppetizers. Place is small but you won't regret trying.
Got the bibimbap, pork bone soup, rice cakes with hot sauce. Bibimbap and pork bone soup were a solid 3.7/5 only because of portions and taste. I’d say it’s better than owl of Minerva tbh. The atmosphere is also very much similar to a Korean restaurant, quite homely. One big issues I’d say is the rice cakes. There was absolutely no hot sauce and they told us to add bibimbap sauce… that was not tasty.
Amazing food for such an affordable price. The 감자탕/pork bone soup tastes like how my mom used to make it. Its savoury, hearty, and the meat is so tender that it falls off the bones. I highly recommend this cute mom and pop shop to get authentic korean eats!!
The rice cake was so delicious even though the sauce was orange and I’m used to a bright red colour in this dish. But now I don’t want red sauce anymore because I’ve tried this amazing orange sauce. Plus I didn’t have to choose if I want ramen because there was already a perfect amount of ramen. I don’t know why it took me so long to try this place. I’ll definitely be back and try other items on the menu.
Update: visited again and got Combo A for 2 people (same dishes as mentioned below). Bibimpab was steaming hot and tasty. Dumplings are not too salty and seem handmade. You get 2 portions of rice, too, so it becomes a very big meal. The washroom still needs cleaning! June 2023: Bibimpab, dumplings and bulgogi were good! Kimchi - delicious. There is free water and hot green tea. One star off for the washroom - it needs good cleaning.
really nice korean restaurant with pretty good pricing when you get the combo orders with others. i like their kimchi and sides, just wish we were able to get more. i think overall quality of food was delicious and seems authentic but not best i’ve had.
Traditional Korean cuisine!
Yummy!
Nice service (Mayo was so nice!!), and bonus snacks for the table :) Nice meal out with my friends after our exam Food
Love this place! Good food with excellent service!
Cozy little restaurant with delicious food and friendly staff!
great place for lunch
I love everything in this place especially the food.
Feels like Im in a real small town korean restaurant in Korea.
Great food, family run business with attentive service.
Healthy food , amazing couple and very affordable
Really delicious food and the jajangmyeon was fire!! I recommend eating here
Ordered Combo A for 2 people (dumplings, beef bulgogi, and fried chicken noodles). When we got the noodles they were delicious and steaming hot. Dumplings were some of the best I have ever had! You get four sides and two servings of rice. Great value, delicious, and the kimchi was so tasty. This was our first time and we will definitely be back!!
Worst restaurant. Expensive, small portions, tasteless.
The missing year youll find.
Authentic, delicious Korean foods & priced very well a little gem hidden away in downtown Kitchener
Literally the sweetest people. Very wholesome and the food is fantastic. I recommend this place to everyone especially because it s fairly priced.
Ive been coming here for dolsot bibimbap for over 10 years now. Food quality is excellent and very consistent. Pork bone soup is also phenomenal. I cant recommend this place enough - its my favourite restaurant.
My absolute favourite restaurant in all of KW. The food is delicious and made with care, and the owners are always so friendly. I hope their restaurant thrives! Its a real hidden gem that everyone should try.
Great food, great service, affordable price. Very healthy and balanced meal, always have extra veggies. One of the best Korean restaurants in Ontario
Hearty pork bone soup with fall-off-the-bone tender and juicy meat
Always enjoy the food. Usually have the spicy pork and kimchi platter.
quiet place, friendly service, nice home cooked meal. Easy, no frills, good value. will definitely come back!
Delicious lunch served hot and fresh.
Best pork bone soup Ive had in KW. Not too salty or overpowering spice. Generous meat
I really like the taste of the food here, it s really delicious. I will immediately recommend it to all my friends. I hope everyone can taste such a delicious meal. The kimchi was delicious, as was my pork bone soup, and my friends were very happy with their meals.
Small, authentic Korean restaurant in the heart of Kitchener. This café style restaurant may seem a little jarring to people at first, but once you know the rules, its pretty great. First, you get your own tea and water and can get up at any time to go grab condiments, add additional drinks, etc. Other than that, once they order and bring out your food, you left alone to enjoy your food. The food is excellent, fairly priced, the portions are large, and the food is delicious. Parking: Either park on the street across from the restaurant, or in the city lot down the street. Wheelchair accessibility: No accessibility, restaurant is on the second floor of a mini shopping building, no elevator access only stairs.
This was definitely one of the best Korean places I visited The food was very cheap and the quantity was very good and also the taste of the food was very good. The owner is a huge fan of golf and he is very nice. I highly recommend going here and I will definitely come back here with my friends their combo packs are really good and also I really enjoyed the kimchi fried rice.
The pork bone soup is the best restaurant meal I have had in a long time. The pork fell of the bone and was delicious. Great value for money, and incredibly filling. The couple who run the place are so sweet, too!
Food was so delicious, and the staff is very friendly!
Want to take the family there this weekend but my daughter has a peanut allergy. Is it safe to eat there for her
Delicious and affordable. But its in a rough part of town. Took a second to find because its on the second floor and not street level
We ate EVERYTHING! We are definitely coming back for more. The pork bone soup is so good!
One of my favorite restaurants ! Tasty tasty tasty!
Food is really good and the owners are really nice people! Highly recommend this place.
First time trying Korean BBQ was blown away!! Absolutely delicious Cozy little hole in the wall will highly recommend to all!! Seafood soup was unreal
Their pork bone soup is the best. It definitely hits the spot. I m gonna be craving this everytime!
Good food, good portions. The pork with bone stew is very tasty as were the Korean pancakes.
Best food ever!!!! 100% worth going out of your way to go here. Hands down delicious and yummy Korean Food. Hole in the wall type place. Overall just go :) Recommended dishes
This is a hole in the wall. I ve taken many friends to this secret gem for over 10 years. The owners are still the same sweet old couple, and the food is delicious!! They re a small mom and pop shop and you self-serve your own drinks and tea but what I really go here for is the Combo A for 2 people. You get 4 side dishes, 3 mains and 2 rice, it is ALOT of food for two, but worth it for $34.99. When I go with more friends I usually just get two of the combo A and get 6 mains. You have to get the Gamjatang, it is SO good! Sometimes my friend and I get 2 gamjatang and another main to share. They also have it in the individual small size for $12.99 or a LARGE (which is really big btw) size for $15.99.
Cute lil ma & pa place. Food was yummy. We got the kalbi and bibimbap. Atmosphere was little run down and outdated, but what do you really expect. I came for the food and it definitely delivered. The guy was watching the news and having lunch with his wife while we were there. Cute af. I love places like this. Support local yall.
Have always had good meals here. Good portions, not overpriced but also not underpriced. Food is excellent. My only complaint is the large number of small styrofoam containers when ordering takeout; straight to the bin whereas traditional plastic ones can at least be washed and reused.
great dishes for great prices! the owners were very kind and the food was delicious !
Generally sweet taste, small portion for the price, hair on the food. The food itself wasnt the worst, but I probably wont go again. Parking: Parking is so inconvenient Wheelchair accessibility: doesnt exist
Amazing spot! Great food, service and prices. Cant ask for much more! Bibimbap from here is the GOAT
Good food. Great deals on combos. Its a small space and they put the drink fridge too close to a table it made for a very awkward space.
Tried this place for the first time and was expecting to actually get to use the grill, however that was not the case. The menu was difficult to understand, and I still have no idea when the grill is supposed to be used, because it wasn t offered during my visit. I scoured the menu trying to figure it out to no avail. The people working there seemed nice but weren t overly helpful with the menu. I ordered one of the combination platters, the kalbi was very good and the chicken teriyaki was also good. The bulgolgi bowl was a bit bland, however. Decor is very dated and isn t overly clean inside, which turned me off from the food a bit. I pictured a hole in the wall place but not quite like this, and this is definitely the oddest Korean barbecue place I ve ever visited.
This has got to be the best, most authentic Korean food in K-W! Its a cute and cozy little hole in the wall, with just Mom and Pop running the kitchen and serving customers. Theres unlimited, serve yourself tea and water, and the food is absolutely delicious! They had an almost full house when we got there, with a constant stream of customers. Very impressed, we will certainly be returning
Beautiful place... Staff very friendly, food is amazing and cheap, awesome experience.. there was a pebble in one of my portions and they were super nice and apologetic and gave me a discount and a free beer xD I wasnt upset! I told them Im still gonna come here xD cant wait for it to re open!
Food and service has never changed. Excellent.
Authentic Korean food at a reasonable price. Tofu stew was super flavourful with just the right amount of spice. Bimbimbap was delicious too, just wish it came with more meat. Main comes with side dishes. Definitely a hole in the wall but great food.
Met a sick homie with a blood angels army!
The owner is friendly and delicious.
This restaurant is definitely one of KWs hidden gems! The chicken teriyaki lunch special is amazing and their pork bone soup is super tender and extremely tasteful. One of my favourite korean spots in the region.
Feels very homely. Feels like home cooked Korean food.
I ordered the combo A a few times with a few combinations which was great. Highly recommend this place
I am from Toronto, came here with family on Sunday. Walking up to this place reminds me of quaint plazas in Jamaica. The decor is retro 80s. The menu and prices , well, you have got to eat here, take out or dine in. Well worth it. Kitchener / Waterloo best Korean BBQ. Door dash applicable.
The food was amazing with reasonable price! The service is great; the couple who owns the restaurant is super nice.
Authentic Korean restaurant. Love the pork bone soup
I love the pork bone soup
Super friendly and polite. Food so yummy and delicious. Its bring me to traditions Korea family meal. Recommend should go with combo and pork bone soup so yummy
The food is delicious. Great Korean food. The rib beef and chicken teriyaki are the best
We eat here at least twice a month. So much so, we lovingly call it Dads place, since the Dad is always running back and forth from the kitchen taking orders while Mom is cooking in the back. Some of the best home cooked food in Kitchener, dont pass this place up based on the location! Food is always hot, fresh and quick to arrive!
Teriyaki chicken> kimchi soup> bibimbap.
Most authentic Korean restaurant I have experienced since visiting Korea.
Korean home cooking at its best!! Its a must stop every time I stop in Waterloo. Yum!!!
I came to this restaurant on a Friday night with my family who had come in from out of town. We were a group of five. There were two empty tables that seated four people each, that had not been cleared yet. We waited for someone to serve us but we re ignored. When the owner came, he immediately said no and that they were full even though a chair could easily be added to one of the tables for 4. I would have loved to try the food here but unfortunately was turned away at the door.
Amazing food and service. Not Many tables so best to book ahead. Highly recommend this establishment!!! Food
We saw Bugs on walls, and found pubes in food. This is not a place I can personally recommend.
Didnt think much of this place, as far as bbq experience went he came over and turned off our tank even when we werent done and didnt bring out appetizers until we asked.
This place is amazing. Authentic korean food with vietries and good combo options with reasonable price. The taste and freshness of the food is super good. I live the galbi and bimbabo dish here.definatly recommend for those who want to taste homemade Korean dish. Food
Good food. Friendly service. Location could be better.
Used a cup here and got a cold sore
Lovely Korean place, such a surprise to find In a small spot
Best Korean food
Was there yesterday after many years. Glad I came. Delicious, friendly, reasonably priced.
Amazing and wholesome family-run Korean restaurant. The food is great. I can tell that they use authentic home made Korean recipes, especially with their bulgogi, seafood pancakes, and noodle dishes (which I definitely recommend!) Service is extremely nice, a family run business that is very willing to greet you and talk with you. Their prices are amazing! I recommend coming in a group of 3 or more to take advantage of their combo deals which give you a mountain of food amounting to less than $15-20/person. The price really sells this place as an affordable and authentic deal.
It s my miserable night eating the restaurant the smell of the spices like upset my stomach make me feel sick I don t know what kind of bad smells spicy they put in cabbages , chicken barbecue ,and the chicken feet smell bad
Amazing Korean food, prepared and served by the most lovely couple! Great prices and great quality, definitely a gem in Kitchener.
Good tea!
Good food.
One of my favorite places to eat in the region. Its a small place and the owners are quiet and very nice. The Kimchi stew is addictive; it doesnt taste that spicy but your stomach will tell you otherwise. The other traditional dishes are flavourful and portions are pretty decent.
Excellent taste, attentive owner
Ordered the pork bone soup and the dumplings. It was perfect. What I imagine a home made Korean meal would taste like. Will definitely be back.
Definitely one of the best restaurants in KW
The pork bone soup and bulgogi were very delicious. Absolutely will come back again.
Whenever someone asks me for the best Korean food in KW, this is the only answer I give. I have been casually visiting this restaurant for 15 years and I ve never once had a bad experience. The tteokbokki and japchae are amazing and the staff are the best. Friendly, clean, quick and delicious, what more could you want?
Best Korean food Ive had in... ever; including an assortment in Toronto. The owners are lovely as well. Most highly recommended.
It is delicious
Food was great and prepared quickly.
Best chicken teriyaki in town
They have great Naengmyeon
BEST Korean restaurant in KW and Guelph area! We have tried a few korean restaurants but we decided this is the one, even tho we have to drive 30min every time. Big portion, love the side dishes (tho I am personally not a big fan of potatos but those pickled bean sprouts and fishcake are fantastic). Best pork bone soup I have ever tasted, meat is super tender and soup is overwhelmed by the spice.
Love this place, surely will be back
We had the spicy squid, tteok-bokki, and sundubu-jjigae shared between two people. The food was delicious and a good price as part of a 3 dish combo. Be sure to stop here for some great Korean food!
Great family run restaurant. I usually stick with the lunch special but the other stuff looks good too
Very good food. Yummy
This was an all-star dining experience!
Great dishes that are very authentic. I was told by a co-worker how great this place is and it didnt disappoint. I had the hot chicken plate and my family had beef teriyaki and dumpling soup. Highly recommend this unique food and experience.
Dont judge this place by the looks.. Food is top notch. Recommended if you want to try some different things.
Great mom and pop Korean restaurant. Delicious food and homey atmosphere.
First time ordering from here. The food is authentic and the owners are nice. The kimchi is pretty darn good
This place is awesome! I would highly recommend to anyone! Their food is delicious and the people are fantastic!! They really go out of their way to make you happy!! Honestly, words cannot describe how fantastic this place is!!!!
Homey little place with some great authentic Korean food.. The red bean shaved ice is really good too
Friendly, clean, delicious and lovely presentation. While the building and stairs outside are not impressive, the food certainly was. This place is worth watching your step to eat here. Enjoy!
Delicious food, hidden gem; have stairs, no elevator access though.
Had some tofu soup. It was excellent. Been a while since I was last here, so Im looking forward to a return visit, and testing out some other favourites on the menu.
Excellent taste and price
delicious i like the chicken terryaki. kind and respectful owners
Reasonably price Mom n Pop Shop great food
A hidden gem in Kitchener serving authentic Korean dishes!
I liked it a lot when I went with a large group of friends. Every food item was really good. The ambience isnt very polished so I wouldnt go here if you are really looking for something fancy but I greatly enjoyed it nonetheless
The best Korean restaurant in town! Nice Korean couple, love the relaxing atmosphere.
the beef teriyaki was amazing!
Omg amazing Korean food in Kitchener! They are so good, food is fresh. You get alot for good prices. I love the food. Its amazing. Honestly some of the best I have.
Only offer 1 item on the grill. Not like a typical Korean bbq restaurant. Staff did not seem interested in providing service. Likely a better experience if you order take out.
Wheelchair accessibility: Its on the second level stairs only, not accessible Food
The food is so good!!
Old school fluorescent lit Korean place. Very good mandu (Korean wonton analog) and kalbi chim (braised beef shortrib). I only ate there once, but I hope I can go back before I leave. Food
Excellent family run with great food that meets expectations.
Feels like home.
The closest you are going to get Korean grandparents, making you great food.
Best pork and kimchi in KW
This restaurant provides authentic Korean food and some fusion Asian cuisine. Really nice place...
This is a late review. My boyfriend and I have been to this restaurant multiple times. The food is wonderful and the staff is amazing. The food is freshly made and I love the side dishes.
This place has great food !
Amazing
One of the best Korean places been going here forever,, so worth it.
Truly a great family run business! The food is authentic and delicious- my go to since moving back from Korea. The service is friendly and prompt
Lovely little restaurant. Lots of care in their food. Very authentic and delicious. It s very well priced. A hidden gem.
Best Korean restaurant ever
I enjoyed the food here!
Food ( porkbone soup ) was very good.
delicious food! Always love it!
This is a great family run place which amazes you not with gimmicky interior decoration but with the heart warming food that they offer. Their pork bone stew and galjim is superior value for price with banchan s that are wonderful in their own right. The owner is nice, will chat with you and tell you that your home made bulgogi can t be as good as theirs because one just do not have the right spices to make it correctly :) it was a wonderful warm experience and will be frequented by us on a cold day.
Great little place with authentic flavour.
Poor food quality, especially LA Galbi.
We love love love this place for korean food! The owners are so nice!!!
Excellent pork bone soup, the pork belly is just bland (imo) and expensive, the galbi is great, and the tteokbokki is disappointing Be ready to pay $$!
This place was recommended by a friend and is definitely a must try. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone craving Korean cuisine. Best bang for quality food and excellent customer service.
I have been coming here for over 15 years , went to highschool down the street . Still the same family owned business and atmosphere ! Love it !
Yummy food, good price
have been this place for 4years! This pork bone soup is always the best, last time my bf ordered the combo for 2 on doordash, we ve tried to get 2 pork bone soup but they got only 1 left(tears ) everything is good but pork bone soup is SSS level food! other recommendations: steamed dumpling, bulgogi
We go here very often and would always order one kind of soup and their bulgogi or bibimbap. Love love love the food. Highly recommended
great pork bone soup, as well as quick and friendly service!!
Not good taste especially Jajang Myeon and jampong
Incredibly good !
Authentically delicious
We stopped in passing through Kitchener. Wow! This place lived up to the hype. Excellent food, service, and price. We will definitely come back next time we are in town! Just go!
Fantastic food, great value. The owner and his wife work hard and deserve all the success they could want, they are such kind people. This is our new Korean food spot in Kitchener!
Nice little gem of a restaurant. Glad we stumbled into it. Love their seafood pancake!
Their foods were amazing! I had never tasted a Korean dish so authentic until I came to this place! Owners there were nice and welcoming. I highly recommend this place..it s a hidden gem!
Love the food here
Great food for a seasonable price! Very tasty and always consistent. The chicken teriyaki was great. The short ribs were amazing.
Owners were cute and friendly. Reasonable price for combos!!
So yummy!
My favourite place to go in Waterloo Kitchener area. The owner is so kind. The food here tastes just like home cooking.
What an incredible meal I just had from here. Every bite was bursting with flavour! I can t believe I haven t tried this place until now. It will be in my regular rotation for sure. We had the three dish combo and we had the beef bulgolgi, ribs, and chicken teriyaki with 4 sides and rice. The ribs were to die for! Everything was so delish I can t wait to try other dishes. There was nothing we didn t like. Thank you so much
Delicious
Big fan of the amazing food they serve here. Excellent and friendly service too. My family and I usually have the combination dinner and pick our mains. I have had everything on the menu here, I cannot pick a favorite as I find it all delicious. Try it, I bet you will love it like I do.
Food tasted great, good price, thought the portions sizes would be a little bit bigger but overall great restaurant!
