Bobby O'Brien's in Kitchener

I recently hosted a celebration of life for my brother at Bobby O Brien s, and I cannot express enough gratitude for their exceptional service. The staff went above and beyond by providing complimentary hors d oeuvres, which added a special touch to our gathering. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it a perfect setting for our event. A special mention to William, who was incredibly attentive and kind, ensuring everything went smoothly. Thank you, Bobby O Brien s, for your kindness and generosity during such a meaningful time for our family. Highly recommend!

Food was terrible, raw mushrooms on the pizza, cheese not melted on the nachos even asking to have them reheated, wine and waitress was awesome

Went out for Saturday night drinks and Apps with friends. Placed a drink order and food order and after watching our waitress stand and chat up the bartender for 45 mins, decided to walk out empty handed. They tried to bring out food as we were leaving but by then we werent interested in such poor service. Wasnt busy at all, now it makes sense.

Its not every day you walk into the perfect pub. But for me, that day was May 18th, 2014, and since that day, Ive spent every Saturday night here, save for times its overlapped with Christmas or my Nans birthday. Get the nachos, and ask for them Mikes Way!

The wings were pretty terrible. Not sure if it was just bad staff but the dry cajun wings just did not taste good. They were decently sized but the flavor was not there at all. Not sure if it was because of a weekday but the place was also quite empty even at 7:00pm-ish.

So it happened twice. Same exect thing. The hours stat open till 1 pm. We got there 1.5 hours before they close and After 5 mins.. a server came and said its closed before we sat. The kitchen is no longer accepting the order. I said it happened twice do you know what time you close? She was like ummm. It depends on the crowd . So the answer I got is go to Crabby Joes!! Twice.. from different servers I was like if you are promoting other businesses then might as well just put a board saying go to Crabby joes . Pooor pooor management. Never heard or seen anything like this willl never come again. Used to go there on weekends.. with regular crowds. But now will go to Crabby Joe s your favourite restaurant

It kind of seems like management has given up on this place. During a weekend night only one server was in charge of the whole front end of the restaurant, she was the host, the server and the bartender. As a result, we waited a long time for mediocre food. It was also clear that our server was feeling the pressure of countless tables to wait on. In all honestly, she either needs a raise or the pubs needs to find more supportive staff. The extra star is for the server, not the restaurant.

Staff was not openly rude just never showed up to our table, beer was obviously watered down to the point where it was almost offensive how dumb they think people are to not notice, food is god awful and somehow still expensive, and speakers will blow out your ears with some random announcer nobody asked for talking about stuff nobody cares about this, if you re reading this please for your sake don t come here, it will ruin your week

Horrible horrible restaurant. Drinks took an hour, food took 1.5 hours and was terrible. Service was extremely slow and a horrible experience. will never go back.

Service was great, wine was wonderful. We did order their new Spicy Cucumber Margarita....it was overly sweet, had a weird after taste....Cucumbers should not be sweet & unfortunately didnt taste spicy

Horrible management. They hosted an event and weren t prepared for anyone to show up. The management and ownership are a complete joke.

They straight up killed it. No notes. Straight GOATS.

Their martini Fridays does not even contain a classic martini. Theyre just sugary mixed drinks in a martini glass. Straight up, feel let down.

I like the new sound system

The server we had was 5star, amazing attitude and quick acting. Food was garbage, the salad was stale, little chicken pieces they called grilled chicken was chewy dry. Otherwise good place to hangout. Food : 1/5

the service was questionable we switched sections and our main server was wonderful but our original one was abhorrent. she wouldn t even look at us when we had questions and was focused on her screen and spoke in a completely dismissive and deadpan tone. it felt like we were a burden to her when we just asked if we could be seated further from the door as it was very cold. she told us to just go find somewhere that s free and clean to sit down, which we then did, but then was told to move again . like why tell us to sit anywhere else that s free just to ask us to move again? especially when we asked where we should move to that would be acceptable. it really ruined the vibe and set a really bad tone for just getting there. also our food arrived before our drinks which isn t a huge deal but it was kinda weird. food was mid, not horrible, but not sure if i d come again. anyways, wouldn t recommend if you respect yourself and want to be spoken to like a human being :)

pretty much the only place in town that I know of that puts on the ufc fights on Saturday unless playoff hockey is on of course but still a great place with good food and live music sometimes too

Probably the worst pub experience I ve ever had. Seating was fine. My friends ordered drinks and they came promptly. We then ordered our food, no appetizers - just entrées. It took about 45 minutes for any food to come out for us, and even then, it was part and parcel. Half of my friends were left watching us eat while they waited for their food. What s worse is that the food isn t even that good. Fries were cold which just proves the food was sitting before being served. I ordered the fish and chips and the batter was very spongy and undercooked. The tartar sauce tasted fine but was a bright yellow colour for some reason which was very offputting. Also, who serves fish and chips without a lemon wedge? I was halfway thru eating my meal when I decided to order a beer. I ordered a Mill St. Organic. The beer arrived and within a few tastings I knew something was not right. Now, I m no beer connoisseur but I know for a fact that Mill St. Organic is not supposed to taste like oranges. The bartender either got my drink completely wrong or the glass was tainted/not cleaned properly after having Blue Moon in it. Thankfully our server took the beer off the bill but it was still disappointing. 2/5 will not return or recommend in the slightest.

Post covid restrictions they where kind and courteous. Didnt make the experience feel like a inconvenience like at some bars. Food was prompt and served hot, beers where ice cold.

Food and vibe were great. What really sold me though was the server. His first day serving when he regularly does kitchen shifts. My man absolutely killed it, really made me and my date feel welcome. What really blew our mind is that I had a heart attack mid meal, and this legend of a server carried me and my meal to the hospital. The entire way he was asking me how my food was, and mixing my Bourbon sour with his powerful psychic mind mid air. 10/10 will be back

Far above your standard pub fare, the food was delicious and very well portioned! Had to take some home cause we just couldnt finish it there. Their sweet potato fries are amazing and not your typical frozen restaurant variety: spiced and super crispy - well worth the upgrade!

Super unprofessional waitress. She was VERY vacant from our table from the start to the finish of our visit. Neglectful and disrespectful. Our party tipped accordingly to service then she pulled out the receipt from the machine, looked at it and then in a huff says thanks for nothing. last time I come to bobbys. Usually waitstaff is friendly and lovely. the gentleman we usually get as a server is fantastic as well as the lady that usually works bar. Unfortunate.

Confused about why there are two hosts when there is no wait list for tables. Took a long time to get bar service and the food was just ok. Band was fantastic!

Great Food, great service. My wife and I came here on a whim after someone asked us where this was when we were walking down King Street, so we decided to go. Everything was great, but the music was let s just say unbefitting of a bar with the age group that was there, most people were 40 and above was somewhere in their 70s (some biker looking guys as well) yet Taylor Swift And Doja Cat and similar music was playing (bubble gum pop) in the background at an Irish bar. I find that very unusual for anytime of the day. Prices were a little high, but nothing too bad I asked the bartender for a specialty drink they made it very correctly, but the drink is known to be strong and does usually rate it on how strong the rum is in the drink, but what I found was I was drinking mainly the juice, and I barely tasted any of the rum. This is unfortunate when the drink is a zombie, everything about the drink was made proper aside from the lack of rum, and again, as I assume, this was an Irish bar that the alcohol would ve been stronger, even if the drink would ve cost more

Visited this place many times and I would say the atmosphere is great, but Ive had a range of terrible to great experiences with the food and service here.

Bring some buddies and have a great time! food is great and you get a lot for the amount youre paying. Best for the summer, seeing as it has Kdubs largest patio. Grab a beer and some wings and relax in the sun.

Came for Leafs Game 7 while stumbling on this rare huge outdoor patio with a huge protector screen. Definely understaffed, our waitress looked distraught and overwhelmed and thats why I gave it a 4, otherwise it was a slamming 5. I will still revisit. Great vibe.

This is worst pub/restaurant I have ever been. Been there like 3 times with friends that apparently like this place, but I guess they don t know what a good restaurant look like. The service is awful! In one of my experiences there, we were ready to order food and beverage and we had to call the bar to get someone coming to our table. I thought that I was because there were quite busy. But it wasn t! After 3 times going there, it seems to be their modus operandi. Waitress never shows up at your table asking if want to order neither if the food is good. Last time i went was for a birthday and we were trying to find a waitress for over 15 minutes. She took 20 min to bring tap water!!! Imagine how long took us to get the food! We were always glass emptied. Food is just meh. When we paid for our bill, the minimum suggested tip was 18%. This was so outrageous.

Had been craving wings for months and finally got a chance to satisfy it. Had the poutine and wings. Was a bit disappointed that both items were cool upon receipt at the table. Did not complain as we were hungry and cold wings arent the worst to eat. Had Kentucky Bourbon BBQ and Sweet Chili Thai. Both were quite mild and couldve used as bit of a kick. Poutine, 2 lbs wings, 2 cocktails = $42 + tax

Bobby OBriens is a clean, well laid out pub. The stage is easy to see, so if youre listening to music, the visuals are good. The Servers know what theyre doing and do it with pleasant efficiency.

I will be the first to give a great review. However, I was not impressed at all. My boyfriend and I went for dinner. There was only a handful of people there. The bartender greeted us right away and got us our drinks. He said our server would be by shortly. Our server didnt come to our table for close to 20 minutes. I personally have been here multiple times over the years and had faster service when the place was packed. We placed our order. I ordered the brie and mushroom burger. I dont like spicy food at all. As I took a few bites, my mouth was on fire. I told our server, and he went and talked to the cook. He accidentally put spicy mayonnaise on instead of the other condiment. Our server said he would remove it from our bill. When we got the bill, it showed an employee discount of $4 and change. I paid it and even gave a tip. Just be careful you get what you order. Especially if you have allergies.

Just attempted to get a table here when one waiter is advising people coming in and sit anywhere but they might not get service, and other waiters advising to wait. People cutting in front of the line. Waited 30 minutes while watching other people coming in and others couldnt. Servers not synched, people getting preferences, dont waste your time. Our party of 6 walked somewhere else.

Very nice sized patio, but I have found the service to be slow to be seated as employees glare at us as if we are an inconvenience. I do not know if there has never been a host or hostess for the multiple times I have gone, but I believe this may help - otherwise, just having someone check in to provide expectations is helpful, too. The live music I have seen here is great, and I wish they would assist more local artists with this.

We waited 25 minutes for a drink. I ordered wings which came to me in about 5 minutes. Cold and old. You cant cook fresh wings in 5 minutes. By the way, it wasnt that busy. Horrendous service. No craft beer. Dirty glasses with water. I will never return here.

Wife says not to say anything bad they work hard... so here I go being polite: Food and service are what you expect if you are going to a University pub.. slow and nothing to write home about. If your expectations are not high you wont be disappointed.

Went with friends for some apps... the food was amazing and the portion you get is big. The staff there were great and friendly. Will definitely go back

Pizza was really good!

Enjoyed a nice evening out on the patio watching the Leafs over priced stars fail to score and lose another series.

Good food, service was a bit slow (wasnt that busy), but overall the atmosphere and eating out on the deck was enjoyable.

Nice pub in Downtown Kitchener. Unfortunately they ran out of pizza on pizza Monday.

Loved it. Best patio in Kitchener, hands down. They had 2 hours of live music. It was wonderful. Wheelchair accessibility: It was accessible. Not necessarily for the washrooms, though. Im not sure about that.

Burgers and chicken are always overcooked/burnt. Ive eaten there half a dozen times in the last 2 months, and just got refused service for calling bartender (I had not finished even half my first drink) - nice patio but horrible food and service. Update: Told female Manager about issues and this one star review - She told me not to come back and banned me permanently!

The quality of service at this Kitchener location has really gone down the drain. Id give a 1-star if it werent for the food. We ordered a spicy beef pizza, which was decent and filling, really lived up to the spice! However, the service was absolutely horrible. Took 10 mins to get a table even though it wasnt super busy. Once seated, the server didnt come for another 20 mins to take our food order. The bartender came by to take our drinks because the server was taking so long. The food arrived and we still didnt have plates, napkins or water. It was raining and we requested the server to be seated under the larger covered patio area. She was very rude and said no, you cant move the tables and youd be just as wet as where youre seated right now. A few mins later, another family came and there was no hesitation in pulling the tables together under the same spot where we were told no. Cant help but wonder why the discrimination? Totally absurd in this day and age. Really would suggest they vet well who they employ, safe to say well not be returning.

Food was great with large portions and our server was phenomenal. Only reason for the slightly lower review is the lack of change table in the washroom and the style of high chair (only a lap belt which was very loose and couldn t go tight enough to properly secure a baby). But if you aren t bringing a baby then this is the place to go!! Parking: It s downtown Kitchener so parking is around but you have to find it. Kid-friendliness: No change table, poor high chair design

We were here Sunday Aug 20 and the service was fantastic :). The Irish nachos were absolutely delicious and the wings were great as well. The bartender knows how to make a great rum and coke :). Always nice to be able to enjoy a jays game sitting on a patio in the middle of summer :)

The Nachos was okay, not my favorite. The water bottle and cups were not cleaned, it seemed they were not dried very well after washing; you could see water drops on it. The customer service was good.

I was meeting up with friends for the live entertainment. I didnt have any food, The was cold, so, a win-win for me! other than the fish tacos apparently being a bit dry (probably just this one time), the rest of the table liked what they had! haha

NEVER EVER AGAIN. Felt so cheated . Online they say happy hours 2-4 pm. There is nothing like that . Prices are v different than what they show on their website. It s difficult times for restaurants but pls don t cheat this way . Patty in burger was only the thickness of a tomato slice . $15:00 !!! What a rip off ..

GET NEW BARTENDERS RIGHT AWAY. way to slow, it was not even that busy, plus AC is not working inside and is blues fest live music inside. Bees are flying in outside bar like creazy. Bartender inside has been watching me for 15 minutes and just asking me now do I know what I want, I tell her 2 coronas and she says she has not, but she did not see case and a half sitting in her fridge. Been coming here a lot but this is something else today, its 40 celsious in here and no AC

Good times on the patio and decent pubs eats. Safely what you would think when you arrive. Always lots to look at as well. The people watching is next level!

Great food and service

My first visit to this restaurant. They have a large open patio with lots of seating but unfortunately the only tables I could use where on a raised deck with no ramp. A patron at the outdoor bar was happy to help. I would suggest to management that a ramp of some sort be put there as all the other tables were high tops and picnic tables Our server was very good and the Cajun Chicken pizza was delicious. Vegetarian options: They had a couple of vegan options Wheelchair accessibility: The patio was accessible although a lot of the tables were picnic benches of high tables. The ones I could use where on a raised deck with no access. I asked a patron for help

Terrible service...horrible staff I have dined couple of times with my friends here and service has always been just ok, with servers taking forever to bring the orders or checking on refill of drinks or food but my last visit had been really really horrible and probably I would never ever come back to this place and wouldnt even recommend to anyone.So me , my husband and a friend were at the bar and we were waiting to pay the bill, we waited half an hour constantly requesting the bar tender to get the bill upon which she turned to us and said stop yelling, I am the only one trying to run business here . I mean we could have just walked out without paying for the pathetic service.My piece of advice to management ( if they even read these reviews) please hire professionals or you will keep losing customers like that.

Good place for a drink

Always a place to hit up for good booze prices but being pregnant i now go out for food, and was extreamly disappointed. Few weeks ago we attended the resturant and unfortunately they were out of most of the items we wanted, buuut came back this week and were still disappointed. Antijitos were burnt and the cook tried to hide that fact by turning the burnt side over, it just gave them a horrible taste. Ordered the spinach dip and the pita bread was burnt/waaay to crisp. I work at restaurants and honestly wouldnt of sent these items out. Didnt complain cause our waitress is a gem and i hate causing problems but I need to speak my mind more often..

Best place for cheap wing Thursdays!!

I loved this place when I first visited a month ago. Food was great, drinks and service was great, so I brought my family with me the other day. We had drinks and food had a great time. It was time for check out and waitress got me bill it was $220 or something, I noticed the tip was included at the bottom and she said MANDATORY tip if bill was over $200. It was not mentioned on menu neither they informed me when I started ordering service that it would be mandatory tip for bills over $200. They added a $36 MANDATORY tip on my bill. I told the waitress I was not planning on not giving a tip, I would love to give but that was not how much I was planning to tip today. She said, it was automatic and we cannot help. Even the manger told me the same thing. She also wrote it and signed on the back of receipt saying MANDATORY TIP. Just saying people, watch out if you want to make a bill over $200!!! Very disappointed I love this place and I will have to think for a revisit.

My wife and I frequent this place but lately the food has been luke-warm at BEST. I ordered a poutine TWICE, expecting that the second time around - the food would be better than warm but unfortunately it came out colder than the first order. Whoever is working the kitchen is absolutely out to lunch. There seems to be no one quality checking the food which is highly unacceptable. Not returning here, unless a turn over is made. Thankfully the only saving grace is that no one can screw up a drink order.

was passing through briefly, visiting with a friend and we stopped here. We ended up staying about 2-3 hrs, service was okay but on the slow side. There was a shift change mid way and when we were ready to leave, my friend asked for the check and got it. i asked if it was combined...yeah. It was paid and we left. In hindsight, theres no way it was the combined total. Maybe it was messed up in the shift change? I dont know their drink prices, but the total is hard to make sense of unless the prices are super low...like $4.

Terrible service. First sign was taking a solid 5+ minutes standing at the front of the restaurant waiting to greeted or seated with no one in front of us and open tables. Took a good while to take our order and then the waiter walked away unprompted after 2/6 people put in their food order never to return for the rest. Confused, we waited what must have been 20 minutes to get our drink order, with the 2 food orders coming shortly after. Asked the waiter about actually ordering the rest of the food and was told it would be 30+ more minutes. Decided to share the two orders and get out of there. The mushroom peperoni pizza had no mushrooms and the calamari wasnt cut up properly and was overly greasy. Will never be back. Later that night we had a night and day different experience at Crabby Joes, so good service still exists!
