Best kept Secret in Kitchener-Waterloo ! Friends recently introduced us to the Elixir Bistro, on Belmont Avenue in Kitchener, and we are so glad they did. The French fusion cuisine boasts top quality ingredients combined with the talent and passion of chef Pirooz; then served with top notch service by Julie. The next time you are looking for great food and attentive service, head over to Elixir on Belmont Avenue.
This place was recommended to us. It did not disappoint. We had duck confit, beef cheeks and the catch of the day. Delicious and full of flavor, we savoured every bite. The service was excellent and the chef made time to speak with us. Planning to come back with more friends.
We were greeted on a quiet Thursday night by a very welcoming waitress, and offered our pick of seating for the evening. The atmosphere is high class, warm, and comfortable with a beautiful ambiance and nice music. The space is open, giving an airy feel, and as a customer, you always feel like you know what is happening in the kitchen and at the bar. We shared the scallop appetizer which was divine and the scallops were cooked PERFECTLY (this coming from a Maritimer). I had the steak frites, which is a variable cut; filet mignon which was thick and cooked to order. The “frites” were delightful new fingerling potatoes that were to die for. Great vegetables side including spicy beets. My wife had the lamb shank and mashed potatoes which were melt-in-your-mouth. One of the better braised lamb shanks I’ve enjoyed. We finished with the tiramisu which was excellent and the crème brûlée, which was good. The wine selection was reasonable, I had a glass of their special wine which was a good value for a high quality and enjoyable Merlot. Overall an excellent night, at a price that is not cheap, but VERY fair and appropriate for the level of service and quality of the food and cooking. Would highly recommend for a special night out with a loved one. A+ French food.
We ordered a few dishes and to our disappointment none of them were good. Extremely overpriced food: - Beef Bourguignon was stale - the scallops were overcooked - The Escargot was overcooked as well - The most desapointing was the Chocolate Truffle Cake which is actually a Costco Tuxedo Cake. Buy the cake from Costco.
I think food here is very good. The braised beef cheek dish is very tender and well marinated. Only suggestion is that the sauce on it is a bit salty and would be perfect if salt level can be 30% less. 9/10. The lamb shank is perfect. Tender and the flavour is well incorporated into the meat. 10/10. Service was very good and the server and chef accommodated us very well. Only thing I would suggest improving on is up the cleanliness of the washrooms. They were not very well kept. For a fancy restaurant I think the washrooms should be sparkling clean.
Enjoyed everything at Elixir Bistro. French bistro style. Portion of all the main dishes are very generous.
First visit ... and OMG! Elixir was a very happy surprise. Nice location on Belmont, and lotsa parking around this resto. We received a friendly greeted and were quickly seated. Upon mentioning that we'd prefer a table further away from the entrance, we were quickly given a table at a much better location. Service was very friendly and accommodating. Menu and specials were explained in detail, and both drinks and food were perfectly served. As for the food ... it was flawless. Hats down to the chef, he runs his kitchen like a well oiled machine. 👏👏👏 there were no long waits, all food came out just on time. Our pre-dinner drinks (Cosmo and Manhattan) were about as good as we ever had in KW. So good in fact, that my wife had a second Cosmo! We had 3 starters because we just could not decide which two to choose. The steak tartar was utterly divine, the tenderloin was finely cubed/chopped, the seasoning was spot on, and the raw yolk was the perfect glue to bind it all. 😋 The escargots with mushroom were resting a most delicious sauce, and everything was just tender enough. 😋 The shared app was the foil gras ... simply divine. Go try it, I'm not wrong! My wife's main course was the beef bourguignon, and she swears it was one the best she ever had. I tasted it, and I must concur. I had the lamb chop special, and again ... protein perfection. I am sometimes wary of lamb meals, as many times in the past I have been burned ... either under or overcooked, or way too gamey in flavour. But not here. Tonight's lamb was amazingly tender, with no overpowering odour or flavour. I supremely enjoyed it. Dessert was a shared crème brûlée, which we both enjoyed ... our only regret was that we could have eaten a double sized portion! Overall, our judgement ... one of the best restaurants in the region, easily in top 5 in our humble opinion. Do yourself a favour, and go check it out for yourself.
One of the best French restaurants I’ve visited. The chef uses unique ingredients like Okra in various dishes. Most of the dish I’ve tried has been amazing - especially the lamb, and mashed potatoes with parsnips. Love the lemon raspberry cake, so delicious. The mashed potatoes were a little heavy though.
They have the best Beef TarTare I ve had so far
So overrated it hurts Food : 1/5
Elixir Bistro is a one of a kind restaurant with beautiful dishes from an incredible chef!
Food was very good, with a great variety of dishes. Anything came hot to our table. Service was also great. We will back again and again!
Elixir Bistro is a fantastic hidden jewel in Belmont Village. The chef is the owner, and his skills are evident in every dish. Fair prices for what you get, good portions, and just delicious. Servers are friendly and professional (I ve only met 2, the place is small). Only minor quibble is that they should put a small candle on each table. But still 5/5.
Great food, good service, and the owner/chef is super nice.
The lamb shank was incredible. Our server was so genuine and authentic, Im convinced hes a master of his craft. The chef came out and said hello, he had a lovely sense of humour and it really capped off the evening in a special way.
The staff was amazing. The appetizer and dinner specials were unique and extremely flavourful. Will definitely be returning!
Presentation was fabulous. The flavours in our meals was amazing, staff are very friendly and accommodating.. Would highly recommend this restaurant
Another amazing meal prepared by Chef Brian. Awesome service. All the staff are so pleasant and accommodating. One of our favourite go to places.
My recent visit to Elixar left me with mixed feelings. The cocktails were a major letdown, overly watery due to the use of soft ice that diluted the flavors too quickly. Something you would use in a fastfood restaraunt in a softdrink. On the appetizer front, things looked up with decent portion sizes and a commendable foie gras. The beet salad was fresh yet standard, and while the escargot was tasty, it lacked a memorable twist. The entree course continued this trend of inconsistency. The steelhead stood out for its perfect preparation and taste, but the braised beef fell flat, lacking in flavor and richness. Across all dishes, the presentation was overly simple, doing little to enhance the dining experience. The side vegetables, particularly the half-grilled zucchini and carrot, were forgettable and failed to elevate the main dishes. In sum, Elixar shows potential in certain areas but falls short in delivering a consistently satisfying dining experience, particularly in the realms of drink quality and dish innovation. Kid-friendliness: Very accommodating.
Was nice enough until my wife wound up with food poisoning a few hours later. Avoid the scallops I guess? Unfortunately that warrants a 1 star. Otherwise - a bit pricy but we knew to expect that, I appreciate that they had a vegetarian option although you need to call in to ask about it. Edit: The owner offered us a gift certificate in compensation, which was a nice gesture. Edit 2: The owner has modified his response to attack me, Ive added a photo of his original response. Ive kept things civil but I can say with certainty that it was food poisoning and that it could only have been from his establishment, likely from the scallops but my wife also ate duck there. Also note that he did not uphold his offer to credit the meal, instead giving a gift certificate that now seems unlikely to be honoured. Vegetarian options: Not listed on the menu, you can call in to ask. Todays option was a fusilli with tomato sauce and veggies - simple but well done.
Chef Firooz has been my favorite chef for years. Saturday I had the Roasted Pork Filet and was totally blow away. By far, the best Pork dish I have ever had. Amazing tender texture, such a tasty spicy sauce, but not too hot, over beautiful mashed potatoes along with perfectly cooked asparagus and carrots. You have to try the Roasted pork Filet. Firooz, please keep this item on the menu. Ross
Great place all around. Definitely going back. Their martini is 10/10.
Classic menu that is hard to find. This chef of over 30 years enjoyed every element of her steamed mussels, beef tenderloin and and tender crispy vegetables. Feedback on dessert menu- garnish with real whipped cream instead of canned. Dessert menus can often be an after thought and must meet the same level of excellence as the appetizers, mains and specials. I highly recommend visiting Elixir Bistro!
I had such a lovely experience at Elixir. Such a clean and inviting, classy establishment with all of the accoutrements. My meal was absolutely amazing. Excellent French cuisine. My server was knowledgeable and attentive, the owner is a knowledgeable and kind person. If I could give 10 stars I would. Definitely bringing my family members from France here when they visit again.
Really nice restaurant ! Food was great and nicely presented. We had a great moment with my husband. We are French and were not disappointed at all ! We will come back with pleasure Food : 4/5
Loved the food and the service was attentive but unrushed.
Absolutely delighted by the art that chef Pirooz pours in his dishes. Authenticity and creativity at the same time along with Design, quality and portion size make an unforgettable dine in experience. I only wish service hours were longer. Food : 5/5
Absolutely fantastic. Food was delicious and service was outstanding.
Great service. Superb ambience. Amazing cuisine. I had the scallops which were absolutely delicious. My husband had the duck which was also amazing. Generous portions that are not often served in a French Bistro. So pleased that they are now only minutes away from us in Belmont Village. Looking forward to returning soon.
Great customer service. The food was good but im hard to please cause ive been to so many french restaurants, but their food is good.
Been a long time since I ve had a truly great meal in Waterloo I could feel comfortable referring friends to. Highly recommend
Phenomenal food, wonderful service. Atmosphere was generally good, but I experienced a couple of negatives - noise. With even a small semi-loud group at any table, everyone else needs to lean in to listen to people at their own table. Sound absorbing materials might help(?). - chill. Every time a group arrived or left, I felt a blast of cold air on my back. Not horrible, but distracting. Overall, well definitely go back.
Delicious!!
The beef cheeks were tasty and real comfort food on a February evening
The Food Was Delicious. Our Server Was Fantastic. The Ambiance Just Right. Highly Recommend and Will Definitely Return.
We went there last night, sort of a last minute decision. It was a great decision. The food was excellent and it was a really nice atmosphere. We did things a little differently - we had 3 appetizers and 1 entree. All the portion sizes were generous and it was more than enough for 2 ppl. For appetizers we had the escargot and black grapes, roasted beet salad, and the beef tartare. They brought them all out at once and we were able to work through all of them mixing and matching. All of them were fantastic - I would do all of them again. We had the scallop dish for an entree. The scallops were perfect and the combination of small vegetables and small pieces of bacon went really well. The smell, taste and presentation were great. Definitely recommmend!
Exceptional is the simplest terms, my words could not do justice to the Service, presentation, flavours, and portion size all were spectacular. Can t wait to go back
Came here for my mother in laws birthday, and everything we ordered was delicious! We had a great time!
Excellent food, service and ambiance.
Last night we had yet another lovely meal at Elixer Bistro. Although there was pleasant patio space at the front of the restaurant, we dined in the beautiful inside space. The service was warm, friendly and well paced and the food was superb! Everything was delicious, hot and beautiful to look at. An easy 5/5, Elixer Bistro will continue to be a go to spot for us. Parking: Easy and free
Came here with reservations confirmed by email by the staff and were turned away at the door. This reservation mixup would have been okay if the staff were polite about it, things happen, but the staff that greeted us at the door was extremely confrontational and rude. EDIT: I cant reply to the owners follow up comment. But the staff who greeted us at the door were EXTREMELY rude to us. The time we spend in this unpleasant situation was much longer than 2 minutes as the owner stated. The 1 star review was hard earned by the restaurants staff and the owners understatement of the unpleasant situation only helps to cement my impression of this place. Definitely recommend strongly against going here until theres at least a change in ownership. Go next door to Janet Bistro, WAY better experience all around.
Fantastic dinner and service. Highly recommend.
Food was delicious and the service was excellent, cozy and quiet atmosphere. Great French cuisine, will definitely go back. Parking: Lots of parking in Belmont village
Going here since he was in cambridge. The chef is one of the most talented cooks I ve ever experienced. Never had a bad experience here. Absolute perfection for date night.
A hidden gem. The service makes going to Janet Lynns a joke, and the food is tastier than Casa Rugentino. We dropped in for a glass of wine and some appetizers while our son was in karate. Will drop in again soon. Loved the escargot
Yummy food, good atmosphere, great service
Great food and atmosphere
Had the tenderloin at Elixir yesterday for dinner and it was absolutely perfect. It was so tender, flavorful and beautifully presented on a bed of mashed potatoes, topped with a delicious mushroom sauce and accompanied with asparagus and carrots. It was the best dinner Ive had this year! The service and staffed are also incredible and welcoming. This is my new go to spot when Im in town!
Fantastic food!!!
Visited Elixir Bistro on a quiet Wednesday evening to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The pear salad was excellent and the duck main was delicious. New York steak special was cooked perfectly to order. Highly recommended, and well definitely be back.
Food is good, just a little expensive
Excellent food for lunch. Nice pasta special! Italian sausage and eggs, loved it. Food
We have been to Elixir a number of times and have always had good meals, excellent service and a very nice atmosphere. The best on Belmont, you won t be disappointed. Enjoy .
Another classic example of you get what you pay for. Very good, high quality good. Service was very good as well.
Underrated gem in Belmont village. Food similar to what we had in Paris.
Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. One of the best restaurants in KW.
Another fabulous dinner starting to meet so many friends who have had the same kind of experience at Elixir
I have eaten here a couple of times over the past few weeks - once for lunch and once for dinner. The menu is not large, but the food and flavours are just wonderful. The depth of flavour and quality of ingredients in all of the dishes have been superb. The service has been attentive but unobtrusive. My dining partners have also enjoyed their meals in both cases. Highly recommend.
Take out - fresh ingredients and very tasty . Chef prepares the best sauces in the Region hands down - makes the meal. Support this place! ****Update - sorry to see you leave the downtown Galt core - your restaurant was a great spot. Good luck in your new location . ****Update 09/22/23 - amazing new location- food still amazing. Missing being close to home - but, so worth the short drive from Cambridge to support Chef. You have to eat here. We will be back - and be regulars again .
Amazing food, great service. A Kitchener gem.
A bit more care with the banging around in the kitchen but otherwise a superb meal and evening!
Food portions and flavour stood out the most for me . Little romantic spot great for any if lifes celebrations.
Stopped in today (Oct 4) unexpectedly for lunch while in the area for a medical appointment. Our server was fantastic in recommending a slightly modified meal that suited my lunch companions specific dietary needs, post-surgery. Both of our meals were delivered promptly and were absolutely delicious! The house-made salad dressing is really good! The Chef here obviously cares a great deal about presentation and quality of food. Id definitely visit again - the dinner menu looks great! Ill bring my husband next time for the lamb. Dietary restrictions: They take dietary restrictions very seriously!
We really enjoy our time in the restaurant, nice decoration, smooth and relaxing jazz background music, the most important is the food, the owner uses the best quality ingredients to create the dishes. Job well done! Service is amazing as well. The owner is super friendly and care about their customers. Thank you so much for the Lemon Thyme :)
First time trying ELIXIR BISTRO in belmont village, it was fantastic. We had the escargot and scallops to start. Both amazing, scallops cooked perfectly and the escargot was the best ove ever had anywhere...ever. For our main course we had the duck confit and steak really good portion amd delicious. Looking forward to going back. Also pur service was amazing Very professional and accommodating
Elixir doesnt disappoint with the menu, wine list and service. Love this place !!! How about lower the lighting a little bit ? Food
I was surprised to find a high end french restaurant in the middle of Belmont village, and it was excellent! If youre looking for classic French cooking, go to Elixir! 10/10 will be back.
I ge the duck confit in orange sauce every time, and Im never disappointed. Hidden gem!
Service was slow but definitely the food was worth the wait.
Excellent quality food. Definitely a new regular spot for us. Food
Elixir is my wifes and my favorite restaurant for an upscale dining experience. The food, service, and wine pairing are elevated.
Delicious food!
Excellent food for the price....it is not cheap but the food is outstanding. Highly recommended. The only negative is that it was a bit cold by the windows so I suggest a table away from the front.
Lamb shank wasn t very good. I was looking forward to some good lamb and I was disappointed. The food does not match the prices. Edit -(response). I would increase your prices then and make sure the quality was better. People go to your restaurant for quality not prices. Just a friendly suggestion. Food
We used to go when they were in Cambridge, and the new Kitchener location did not disappoint. The duck confut was succulent, the filet mignon melted in your mouth, and everything was spot on delicious. It was reasonable for a restaurant of this caliber. Highly recommend.
Good food but not the best service. Restaurant lacked diversity of options.
Best duck confit we have ever tried!
Food was amazing, service was something to be desired. 35 min before we saw a menu, another 25 before someone came for our order, and another 30 min before someone told us they ran out of our order. First time here, definitely willing to believe this was an off night: Valentines with set menu and staff of 3-4. Otherwise, great atmosphere, and really, the food was very good.
The Coq au vin and Escargot here are beautiful.
Great food...better than most in the area!, great service and atmosphere and reasonable pricing! We love Elixir!
Went over to Elixer this afternoon for lunch. Had a great meal, highly recommend.
If you havent eaten here yet - you are missing out big time. Solo chef and a fresh menu every week. The food is beyond phenomenal, always flavorful and hot! I love that there is something new every week to try. The prices are great too. The patio is small and cute for the summer, and inside is beautiful. 14/10 highly recommend. The staff are also amazing.
Loved the restaurant! We had the escargot as appetizer, which was delicious. The veal wasn t quite to our liking, just a little over cooked. But the beef tenderloin was incredible!!
highly recommend. Elixir Bistro is an excellent addition to the Belmont Village high end restaurant culture.
OUI OUI! This French bistro is a welcome addition to Belmont Village for certain. The pictures wont do it justice. A little pricey, but portions are good and food is delicious. I split the Veal and Beef Bourguignon with my partner.
This place was an absolute treat, to go to. The wait staff was extremely kind and attentive (thank you so much Pierre), the ambiance was warm and welcome, and last but certainly not least, the food; My goodness the food is divine. I never really knew what melt in your mouth meat was until I tried it at this restaurant. I can not wait to come back here again, this place is constantly on my mind, and Im always looking to recommend it to friends so that I can eat here again. Thank you so much for such a lovely and wonderful experience.
So for my first so called fine dining experience and I was somewhat dissapointed. Dont get me wrong the food was good but it was under seasoned and we had a 7pm reservation placed our orders by 7:30 pm recieved our appetizers by 8pm then waited an hour for our entrees. Our server was very apologetic for the long wait times. She was very nice so I tipped her well but all in all I will not be going back.
Recently dined here for our anniversary, and wow. Not only are you getting just incredible service (Pierre is a delight!), the food is top-notch. Delicious, and a new menu all the time. And walking distance from uptown!
My siblings and I had dinner here and it was a great experience. Food, service, atmosphere, all combined, made for and excellent pick. We will definitely go again!
This place and the food is underrated! We aim to try out a new restaurant in KW area every Friday, and this pace did not disappoint us! For a bistro, the portion is BIG (in a good way), and the food quality is top tier! I ordered the braised lamb shank. First of all, I don t think I can find any bistro in KW that priced lamb shank at $24 (please don t change your price) but still with such quality! When they say the meat falls off the bone , they mean it! You didn t even need to use your knife but the meat falls of the literal bone with a couple of pokes using your folk! The chefs also so thoughtful and cut the bone into smaller pieces so it s easier for you to get the meat. The mash potato is , so creamy and infused in the sauce that s mixed by tomato and lamb jus! My mouth is watering just thinking about it again! We will definitely come back to this place to try out the other dishes on the menu! Keep it up!
The staff gave excellent service and the food is delicious. Pierre provided excellent recommendations and prompt service. The chef was delightful and humble to our praise of the food. This fine dining experience is a hidden gem in the city.
Ordered a steak medium rare and it came well done. The server never bothered to check on our meal after it was brought to the table. Not the quality or service you would expect from a restaurant that charges these prices.
Just had our anniversary dinner here and it was so lovely. The food was delicious, the restaurant was clean and had a nice atmosphere with the soft music in the background. I liked sitting at the window seat too. The smoked salmon starter was light and went well with the complimentary bread in olive oil. I had the filet mignon and it was super tender and well seasoned. The grilled veggies were perfect. My husband had the veal medallions and he enjoyed them as well. The portion sizes were pretty generous and I didn t think anything was egregiously expensive. We finished the meal with the vanilla bean creme brûlée which was so good. Overall I thought it was a really lovely place for a dinner and I will definitely be back.
We had a chance to check out Elixir Bistro for dinner last night. This place is a MUST try!! The food was absolutely fantastic and the service was incredible! The owners of this gem are super friendly which just made the experience so much better! My friend had the beef bourguignon and I had the duck confit! She didnt want the bacon and the mushroom in her dish and they were able to accommodate that without issue (helllllo fresh food!!!) For dessert, she had the cheesecake and I had the crème brûlée and both were amazing! The wine selection is also wonderful. Suffice to say, we will most certainly be back!!
If something isnt perfect, they will make sure it is. Old school amazing. If youre wondering what happened to real service it is here! The food is flavorful and youll crave it.
A great and delightful experience, my new best restaurant of the region. My wife and I and friends could not once again get a reservation at Casa Rugatino, so we decided to see what else was close, and we found this new restaurant called Elixir Bistro. I looked at the menu; it was short but interesting, with some french classics. I thought it should be good if you can make a living on a small menu. When we arrived, the chef came to greet us; it was a good start. My wife had the scallops, I had the lamb shank, and our friends both had the bouillabaisse. OMG, my wifes scallops were one of the best ones we have ever had, and so was my lamb shank, all delectable. The experience was exquisite, surprising, and delightful. We will be back soon!
The Lamb was tender and moist. Delicious Food : 5/5
One of the best meals I have had in KW if not the best. Don t let the short menu fool you, every dish is a bombshell and if you talk nice to the chef, he does some amazing vegetarian and gluten free.
Outstanding French dining experience. We had a wonderful dinner starting with escargot, shrimp and smoked salmon. The scallop dish and the sauce was perfection. Duck confit was another hit. Can t wait to return to this new restaurant.
Wonderful food. Great service.
Booked a table here for our anniversary. When we got here, the staff was extremely rude and said they have been booked for weeks and have no table for us even when I showed them the confirmation. It would have been fine if they were apologetic but they were aggressive the moment we walked into the door.
Beautiful little quaint restaurant. Great atmosphere and nicely decorated. The service was excellent and the food amazing . Between the 5 of us we had 3 different entrees Coq au Vin, duck confit and filet mignon. The meals arrived quickly and smelled looked and tasted wonderful . We definitely will be returning and recommend this place to anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion or just to relax for a pleasant night out Thank you Troy we look forward to visiting again soon
We only dined here for dessert and coffee however it was wonderful. Atmosphere was quiet and delightful. Owner was super friendly. Would love to go back and try their food.
Been here a few times now. Again it is amazing as always! Love the high quality european food. It is always a tasteful adventure to savour. Great atmosphere to chat over a glass of wine before food arrives. Will be back again!!
Ordered take out for Valentines - food was piping hot and delicious, and they accommodated some food sensitivities. I recommend!
The expectations didnt live up to reality. We felt uncomfortable and excluded during the night. That was our first outing with my wife after the lockdown. So, the 4.7 restaurant was chosen for such small escape celebration. The place seemed cozy and nice music was playing. The waiter was nicely chatting with every other couple that came to the restaurant. However, the waiter was not inclusive. When I demonstrated that Im done with the dish in front of the waiter, he wouldnt take the dish away and just ignore us. As I was complimenting the starters, he just left as if I wasnt saying anything. And there were more small details that made us, a young couple, feel like were not wanted in this place.
Every bite of our dinner from the appetizers to the dessert was phenomenal. The service was just as good as the amazing as the food.
Delicious!
Excellent food and atmosphere, a nice little french dining experience!
Excellent service, very attentive Fabulous food and wine. Great selection of music for French ambiance. Will definitely be back
Excellent food great service
Had dinner last night just before next lockdown, the food was delicious, wine amazing and the service excellent.
This is one of those amazing finds that you want to tell everyone about ,but also want to keep all to yourself. The food here is superb, my personal favourite is the Lamb Shank, the spices, sauce and the tender meat which just falls off of the bone is a whole body experience. If you are in Cambridge or willing to drive for amazing food you need to try Elixir. The chef and owner Firooz is very talented and each dish he makes is absolutely delicious!
This is a great little restaurant and worth a visit. We were there for the 1st time during Covid and sat outside.. no problems there at all. Starter was delicious (Goat cheese salad with fresh beets and pecans), my partner and I shared, which worked very well. Everything was fresh and tasted very nice (bright and refreshing). I had the scallops in wine sauce with potatoes and vegetables and she had pan fried veal. Both entrees were well prepared, fresh, nicely seasoned and perfectly cooked. We both agreed the scallops were the winner here. The veal did have a nice citrus flavour worth noting. Creme Brulee for desert, which again, we shared. Wonderful crust though the custard lower in the dish was still cold. Our server was attentive, personable and a bit of a comedian. All in all a very pleasant Thursday evening. I did hold back one star as we had long waits between courses. Took 2 hours from arrival to leaving, which is slightly long for a party of two.
Food was absolutely terrible. Got the beef tenderloin and veal a $70 meal. Veal was mushy and gritty. Tenderloin was flavorless and undercooked, also raw in the middle. Disgusting, would give 0 stars if could. Atleast the waiter didnt make us pay.
Food was delicious and service was incredible. I recommend everyone to check it out. We ll definitely go again !
We came here because of the high rating. But the whole experience was disappointing. Food was good although slightly overpriced. The wait was over one hour because there s only one cook and one waiter. We are a group of 3 people. The waiter gave a bad attitude by throwing our card onto the table when we suggested to pay the bill separately after dinner. He blamed us for not telling him upfront when in reality he never checked with us in the first place and brought us one bill directly. The one star is for the negative experience and long wait.
The best French cuisine I ve had since I was in Paris! I ve never had a bad meal, or felt rushed by the server. Such a nice change to be able to savour a meal and not feel rushed. Time to enjoy a glass of wine and an appetizer before the main course arrives, and generous portions.
A great dining experience every time I ve been. Fantastic, top quality food with good quantities. It s small and intimate. Not a place you d want to rush out of rather just enjoy the full dining experience.
If you are looking for professional service with an outstanding menu and wine list, Elizir bistro is for you. A very nice time
Amazing food and service!
Adorable atmosphere, even better service! 10/10 highly recommend! Best beef tenderloin that has ever touched my lips
I was skeptical going into this one, but I was honestly blown away. The flavour combinations were amazing and portions were generous. The wait staff was great amd attentive. We will definitely be going back and I would highly recommend.
What a lovely patio in a down town of Cambridge. Chef is stupendous and pays extra attention to all customers. He also pays attention to our special request. His welcoming nature makes us feel like home. Food is delicious as always. Definitely must visit place for me.
What an unexpected disappointment! We were on a Tour de Gastronomie in Galt: A four-course dinner, each course with cocktails at a different establishment, our way of helping the local economy. We were initially inspired by the table settings: linen on linen with three-course cutlery and a wine glass. We were impressed with having been brought to a table by a mature waiter, not a teenager. So far so good. The wine glass is a cheap dollar store goblet that could double as a doorstop. Upon learning that we were only there for dessert and specialty coffee (perhaps followed by an aperitif) it was obvious that we were not welcome. We dont really have dessert, only Crème Brulée. We ordered two. Cappuccino? We dont have that. A French-Italian restaurant with no espresso machine? Then our cloth napkins were removed. Only paper if we insist on staying. The crème was cold and the sugar brulée was so thick and hard the spoon provided was inadequate to manage it without attracting attention. The experience was further diminished by the background music which was the local radio station playing a mixture of old rock and advertisements. Im sure the full dinner service experience is usually much better based on other reviews and the fact that this restaurant has been in business for quite some time, but with the options for quality dining now available in Galt we will take our money elsewhere.
We were a group that tried almost one of everything on the menu. Escargot, Caesar Salad, Lamb, Duck, Coq au vin, Scallops, a beautiful French wine and to finish Creme Brulee, Coffee and Cognac. It was all so good. The flavours were out of this world. And the service couldnt be better. I wish I remembered the name of the lady that served us. She was very well informed and very attentive. Our compliments to the chef for some amazing food.
Sadly I cant share my experience as we never got to eat here. I used there contact us on the web page and explained what I was looking for Got an email back immediately (probably automated) thanking me and saying.... We are looking forward to continuing this conversation, and will be in touch with you shortly!........ Never heard another thing (and yes I did as suggested in the reply and check my spam box as well). Now I understand these with all the different ways of getting in touch through social media but if you arent going to check them then dont have them. Was disappointed and ended up going somewhere else for our anniversary.
I got a gift card from my sister as she has always raved about this place. We finally went for dinner, I had the duck and it was amazing. We instantly regretted so long waiting to visit Elixir Bistro. Definitely a hidden gem in Cambridge!
Great food...wonderful atmosphere...reasonable prices...a little gem amongst a lot of coal
Slightly longer wait than your franchised restaurants, but worth every minute for delicious homemade food!
This place is amazing, so clean and well maintained inside and out. Food is sooo delicious and hot and fresh. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. All around just a little cozy fine dining restaurant.
We were looking for a French restaurant that would evoke memories of our time in France and this met all our expectations. Our host from Nice talked with us periodically, sharing reflections on la belle vie in France and the extraordinary cuisine in the village of Mougins. The atmosphere was lovely and the food had that renowned French attention to careful process and detail. The escargot entree with grapes, strawberries and balsamic sauce was a unique and tasteful blend. The Coquilles St. Jacques were perfectly cooked with a tarragon sauce that evoked memories of high quality Parisien restaurants. The duck confit was tender, tasty and beautifully presented. And of course the Bourdeaux wine was dry and perfect. Only disappointment was missing the Boeuf Bourguignon and our host advised that we call 2-3 days in advance next time. Great advice, we will be back! A bientot!
Small restaurant with a nice atmosphere. Reservations required as it fills quickly. The menu is small but decent, however there was some sand in the scallops which was disappointing.
Food was heavenly. Service was impeccable. Cant wait to go to the new location in Kitchener when it opens!!
Dined there this evening. The food and service were absolutely outstanding. Will go back frequently.
Delighted to see Elixir join the Belmont Village, and we just had a fantastic meal. On point as ever, Chef Pirooz and team afforded us a superb evening of food and drink. Best escargot in the city, and my most generous helping of beef cheeks was divine. Capped the night with Strawberry cheesecake, a sublime finish. One of the best restaurants in KW, so glad to have this talented team in the neighborhood!
Had a terrific fixed price service on New Years Eve. Food was terrific service attentive, great atmosphere. Highly recommended.
My husband & I discovered this hidden gem and visited for my birthday .Quaint ,cozy place.Wonderfully friendly staff. Food was Fantastic. Hated to see the meal come to an end.So full of flavour. We will definately be dining here again.Thank you & will recommend
Delicious
Best food Ive ever had. Absolutely love this place. The server is the best Ive ever had the pleasure of meeting.
Great food, great service. We had a wonderful wedding anniversary at this restaurant. Especially bouillabaisse and tiramisu are amazing!!
Excellent meal!
Have been here before for sit down meals a few times over the years. Did the takeout, found out he was offering this and its terrific! Very good food and service
Had the Steak dinner, too 3 steaks Ive had in my life, and the too 2 will be hard to beat
Came in for our anniversary dinner. The food was absolutely delicious, the atmosphere was lovely. Would definitely dine here again.
Best meal I ve had in a very long time and ice cold draft beer. Will be back
This is the true hidden gem in Camabridge! Food is amazing!
Great meal with friends.
We reserved for hubby bday, the food was nice.the caesar salad was really good. we had the coq au vin ( maybe more wine taste would have made it better) and the duck confit was just fine. The wine was good, they served pretty quickly. I think by the time we left they were in a hurry to close. We will try the place again another time to remeasure.
Decided to try something new for our 11th Wedding Anniversary and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious and we will definitely be returning. Something to note the food did take longer to come to our table than we are used to at chain restaurants but the food made up for that a 100 times over.
I was at this establishment for a private event - a wedding reception. The proprietor was absolutely amazing! Very kind. And the food - fantastic! Highly recommend!
The service was impeccable! The food was delicious! The atmosphere was beautiful! What more can I say? What more can you ask for? Nothing! My birthday dinner was PERFECT!
My fiance and I stumbled upon this restaurant and now we cant get enough! Delicious food, amazing customer service, we were blown away! Weve even discussed having the Elixir Bistro cater our wedding. Recommend anyone to give this place a try, the vibe inside is very romantic as well.
No doubt this was one of the best dining experiences Ive had. The food was delicious! I ordered the lamb shank and it literally fell off the bone, cooked to perfection. Beautiful little bistro with a very welcoming feel. Service was amazing. I will definitely be returning!
Excellent food. We had the escargot, goat cheese salad, lamb shank, and coquille st. Jacques. Everything was delicious! Highly recommend and would return again. So glad we gave them our business. They deserve high praise.
Great food! Great service! and perfect ambiance. Had some lamb from here, it was great! ill be back! also checked out healthyrabbits new store next door for a evening espresso! love this street!
Had the pleasure of going to Elixir on New Years Eve and I must say, they did not disappoint. The staff was very accommodating, friendly, and helpful but what rivaled it all was the food. As someone who constantly is trying new restaurants, most of which are considered fine-dining. I must say Elixir outdid them all. I found myself savoring every bite, everything from the appetizer to the main course was bursting with flavor, and was cooked to perfection. Even the chocolate pie dessert had just the right amount of flavor and balance. When it came to portions, they did not disappoint either. I left feeling full and confident that when I am craving the best food in town, I now know where to go. You owe it to yourself to give Elixir a try, you will be happy you did.
Great little place with an engaged chef and knowledgeable servers. Nice wine list. You could go elsewhere in Cambridge and pay far more for less!
Update: regarding to the owners comment: its Plating and you mentioning Dim Sum is really racist, are you assuming I am Chinese? How ignorant. My favorite food is French cuisine, you will see in my reviews that I visited many French cuisine restaurants. This comment from you dear owner truly baffles me, congratulations, I am definitely never coming back. Talk about an ego easily bruised and a stupid way to justify the wait. Down to 1 star. ---------------------------------- Service is way too slow! One hour and 15 minutes wait for one appetizer, that is a little ridiculous to be honest. This being said, it also smelled like bathroom the moment we came in. Food is delicious but the service is just too slow! I still havent gotten my main dish by now so unfortunately this is what im leaving.
Excellent
Love the food.. best restaurant
Wonderful food, but needs to offer 6/9 oz glasses of wine
Another great meal with friendly service. I enjoyed a chicken curry special and my wife had a delicious steak.
Excellent! unbelievable tease in this area
Wowza, what a great gem here in Cambridge. A great environment and the staff are awesome. Do yourself a favor and checkout their Vegetarian Curry.
Omg! The food is amazing and the service is great.
Food is consistently a 5 out of 5, over and over again.
This restaurant is a hidden gem in the heart of downtown Galt. The food is 5 stars and the service was lovely. I had the scallops and my husband had the steak - their menu is ever changing and they always have many high quality options. Our server was hospitable and personable. This is a perfusate night restaurant with their jazz music ambiance.
I have been on several occasions and the food and service isnalways above and beyond my expectations. Highly recommend!
Too slow. 6 people in the restaurant. Waited around 1 hour for mains
Excellent food and wait staff
Nice place. The waitress was nice. We had two different pasta dishes. Meatballs were good but chick very dry. Flavour good. Over priced though
Little but cozy French style bistro with nice ambience. We had a great dinner yesterday for two families. Food we ordered was delicious and service was good.
This place is outstanding. Its really a gem, an anchor in the downtown Galt core, raising the bar for dining expectations. Recently we visited and enjoyed Beef Bourguignon, and pork medallions, with what I think is the best appetizer perhaps besides mussels, the Goat Cheese Croustini. Chef Pirooz keeps the menu rotating and the dishes are enticing and so reasonably priced for the quality and taste. Table service is also excellent, and they try to be very accommodating. They are not paying me for this review! This is honest and upfront from a local (Ayr) resident who likes to support local. Go there! You will not regret!
My wife and I had the chicken curry dish tonight and it was simply amazing! Cant wait to go back and try everything on the menu
Best escargot I have ever eaten. The food here is always fantastic!
The atmosphere is lovely, service is friendly, and the food is spectacular! I got a beef bourguignon and everything was cooked to perfection, the weight of the knife was enough to cut through it and the flavour of the whole dish was amazing. The price is similar to the Keg but thats where the comparison ends, Elixir blows it out of the water and its local! The chef has a true passion for cooking and if you get a chance to talk to him hes one of the friendliest people you can meet.
Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Always the best place to eat in cambridge!
Very posh, great food, I dont drink but they have a wide selection of beer, spirits and wine
Food was excellent. Small quaint place. Not overly expensive. Will definitely return. If the chef is making the lamb shank when you go.. . Order that. Its so good.
I love this restaurant!!! The BACON WRAPPED SCALLOPS are amazing. You can taste the care, and quality ingredients the chef puts into every dish that Ive tried. The prices are more than fair for a fine dining experience. Its a Quant bistro with a unique romantic and intimate atmosphere, and they serve vegan friendly meals!!! Not that I am vegan, but its nice to have a place to take my vegan friends where they can actually eat!!! Hidden gem right here!!
Great place to eat. Food was excellent. Had the fillet mignon and it was delicious. Its a small place so I recommend making reservations. I would definitely return.
Great food and terrific service.
Some things are a little pricey but its a great bar!
Great food, service is kind of slow but worth the wait
Good food and resonable.
The food was Amazing!!! The gentleman who served us was awesome & sincere :-). Would suggest this to everyone who would like a great meal
