State & Main in Kitchener

Ive only been there a couple times, but both times the food was just ok. It isnt anything you cant get at any similar restraint in town. The service was great, the vibe is nice for a dinner out. I would go again because I know what to expect from the menu. Highlights were the dessert portions are quite large, the food comes out hot and the place is clean and friendly staff.

Our Waiter was awesome, was very attentive and took care of all our needs. The pretzels were delicious as was the rest of our food. I even got a complimentary dessert from my birthday. Would definitely return!!!

This restaurant is fantastic. I love the atmosphere, and I find if it s not just the staff has me keep coming back, it s the food. The chicken sandwich is probably the best one i ve had in my entire life, and I cannot say enough good things about this establishment. I recommend it for first dates, and every date you take your new spouse on. 10/10 recommend. Parking: Lots of parking, easily accessible to the restaurant. Wheelchair accessibility: Easily accessible, wide doors, very easy to get inside via wheelchair!

My wife and I are regulars and we love the service and food. The manager Christy is the best and the staff are also so friendly and nice. Most of the staff always know our order especially my wifes chicken tenders sauce on side lol.

Food is mostly good! But have had sometimes where its been less than. Same thing with service, there are times I get great and fast service and others when I have not! Overall a place that I like to go to!

We ordered two steaks medium rare for delivery. They both arrived BLUE RARE.. I am a chef so I know how these line cooks CUT CORNERS, did not check the steaks before pulling them off the grill, or they dont know how to temp a steak, and clearly did not let them rest because my wifes steak was still bleeding. This is very disappointing and whomever your head chef is, needs to retrain your line cooks on how to cook a steak properly.

Came back here after 5 months. And I m going to say that it was disappointing. I ordered the same thing as before, the pistachio crusted salmon. But I now got a way smaller portion than as the first time I came. The service was a little less attentive than before too.

Chicken wings were fried way too dry like sticks. The pretzel and sauce were good, and so were dumplings as side orders. The Chicken teriyaki was awful! Think its a hit or miss with this place

It was a 2 star that became a 5 star. Let me explain. Weve been to other state and mains before, and knew exactly what we were ordering. The food came out ok but not good. Not as per standard. I asked if there was a new chef working and described the problems. The owner came out and explained that for some reason their chef wasnt there and the owner was trying her best to fill in. She comped the whole meal. We argued it wasnt necessary but she said its already done. So because the owner came up and owned the mistake they get 5 stars and another chance. I will be back.

I would avoid the Tuna Poke Bowl. The rice wasn t sushi rice, the tuna was closer to canned tuna than sashimi grade. It was not a pleasant dish at all. Not to mention it cost more money then a good poke bowl from say taste of Seoul or Poke Box. The wife s Teriaki Rice bowl was good on the other hand. And our server was very good.

Myself and three cousins went to Kitchener location. I order steak and fries This meal was the best I ve ever eaten The steak was cooked as ordered and so tender and flavourful the fries were amazing so tasty. The waiter was very efficient and friendly such a pleasure to have him service us. My only disappointment is I m visiting from New Brunswick and won t be able to enjoy this wonderful Resturant again.

I usually love the food here, its my go to for the pistachio salmon, I rated it a three for the past quality of food. Todays take out was awful. I am order shortly after 6, it said it will be ready by 6:30, I got there just before then and waited 15 minutes. Got home only to find that the salmon is way over cooked, the mashed potatoes have changed and the asparagus was awful. I think the price was also increased, so $40 salmon plate that wasnt worth it. I will be hesitant to come back.

The hostess made a table for us right away but let us know that in an hours time they had some reservations booked. We were able to be in and out in enough time to make it work. Our food was served quickly, arrived exactly as ordered. Loved the pretzel sticks appetizer more than our mains. Portions were huge! Unfortunately, the meat textures were a bit off. Grilled chicken burger was a bit rubbery (slipped right out of the bun) Menu isn t massive - they definitely want to make a few things and do them well rather than loads of things. We d go back just for the service. Food wasn t incredible but not terrible either.

My noodle bowl arrived without the noodles, only the broth, chicken, shrimp and vegetables. My partner was finished his ok chicken curry before my meal was returned. I was charged full price for the meal. Very disappointing.

I have yet to be disappointed by a Syate & Main. An interesting mix of menu items all of which were great. Service was a bit hit and miss but we were not in a rush so no big deal

It was really just okay , somewhat sadly. I feel like it doesn t have much to help it stick out amongst the crowd. There isn t any food that you can t get anywhere else, and what we did receive was, again, just okay. The $20 main burger was the smallest burger I have seen outside of McDonalds, the tacos - while tasted fine - weren t anything special. Prices are too high for the smaller portions you receive. The fries I will mention were quite good and well seasoned, and the dill dip went extremely well with them. Service was good. While nothing was bad, it just wasn t enough to be extraordinarily good either. It wouldn t be my first choice.

We have come here many times and have always had excellent food and service. This time my wifes dinner was unfortunately messed up a couple of times. We were not upset about this at all. Things happen sometimes and it was an honest mistake. The manager immediately came over to our table and told us they would be comping our entire bill. We didnt think this was necessary but greatly appreciated them going above and beyond for us. Will certainly keep coming back.

Fantastic food! My family and I have been many times. The best part for us is they have a gluten free menu with a lot of items on it. My wife is Celiac and has never had a problem. Jalapeno cornbread and jalapeno/cheese mashed potatoes are my favorite sides. Servers are always friendly, service is fast, and the place is clean and trendy. This is our favorite restaurant!

Had a reservation for 6 at lunch for a birthday. All elderly ladies. There is only 2 regular seating tables and they were both occupied. All other tables were bar height, which we could not use. The hostess was not helpful at all. She suggested we wait in the lobby until one of the tables opened up, which was going to be a long time ,since they had just received their food. One of the tables realized our situation , ate quickly and left. Our server was great, the food was mediocre. I ordered the tuna bowl and have had better elsewhere. We will not return to this location.

This is a regular spot for us. Between me and my partner weve tried about half the appetizers and plenty of the entrees. I love their West Coast Chop Salad and Baja Fish Tacos and my husband loves their Crispy Chicken Sandwich. Their dill dip and spicy soup dumplings are always hits as well!

Salmon was delicious, enchiladas were great and the service was quick and friendly. Great place for a casual meet up or date night.

My name Is Victoria. I was visit the Kitchener area from London Ontario. I had a beautiful dinner at the Kitchener Fairway restaurant. The staff is incredibly engaging. The food was made to perfection. I will definitely be back to this location. I felt important and special.

I always enjoy coming to this location. The servers are phenomenal and personable. My two favourites are Hannah and D Anthony they are wonderful and always willing to accommodate. Food tastes good and it has a great vibe. Always a good time when coming here whether it s on a weekend or weekday it s a great time. Also the Bang Bang Shrimp are to die for.

Service is always friendly, bartender was knowledgeable and provided suggestions to drink. Good quality is consistent. Highly recommend.

Been to this State & Main a bunch of times with my partner and it is amazing every time! Last night we went and I had the Pistachio Crusted Salmon and it was incredible! All of the food and drinks I have tried here have been amazing. The staff are also incredibly friendly! Will definitely be back!

Everything about our dining experience at state and main Kitchener was fantastic! Despite being pretty busy, we were seated and served quickly and kindly. After ordering, our food was prepared and served quickly and tasted fantastic (would highly recommend the pistachio crusted salmon). All in all our experience was fantastic and we will definitely be going back in the future!

Typical chain resturant. Had the bacon tomato soup which was awesome. The sandwiches me and my wife got on the other hand were underseasoned. Which was disappointing because of how well the soup was. Anyways, would certainly visit again to try something else.

Not many options for food but still worth going there for drinks

We had a wonderful server who accommodated us with the three kids that were in our party. She brought us ice when one of the kids bit their finger and she was super attentive and prompt - even bringing out the kids meals first so they could get started. Food was delicious and hot!

Awful experience here. Came as a group of two. Our meals took a while and when we got them we found a PLASTIC MILK TAG in our entree... I let the waitress know, and she was super sweet and apologetic, but she called the manager over. The manager did not seem to care at all, and rather then offer us an apology, he just took the meal away. He offered a soup in place (which was TINY, and not very good), and then the replacement meal took another 30 mins. We were still charged full price for the meal (you would think they offer some sort of discount/rebate or anything to make up for finding a large chunk of plastic in our meal and having to wait over an hour total for an appropriate dish). Seriously a health concern, had we not noticed it before digging in.

I had the honey glazed Cajun chicken, and it was probably the best chicken Ive ever tasted! Very tender, juicy, and well seasoned. My waitress was extremely nice, and so was management. I will definitely be returning.

I had the most amazing experience from here today. Right from start to finish. How we were met at the door with a smile by the host, our server was amazing, food was so fresh an hot and to the manager that I spoke with! Everything was perfect could not ask for better! Keep up the amazing work guys you rock!

The interior was beautiful, so it was a shame that they had tvs broadcasting sports.. But the food and drinks were very tasty! Our server was really helpful too. Vegetarian options: They had 2 options! A salad, and a veggie burger with sliced cheese.

There are much better options than state and main. DO NOT try the poutine or the jalapeño Mac and cheese. Way too much gravy and it doesn t taste like gravy (I could say more about the food). Not my first time here, I keep giving this place a chance but sad to say it s a disappointment! However serves are very nice and attentive!

I d say we were loyal customers to this location eating at least once per week. When going directly, we always had issues: our food was either overdone or underdone; wrong sides were always given. -For a few times we decided to let it go, ultimately working in this industry is tough. Then, we switched to ordering every other week and visiting every other week. It didn t take long to realize this location wasn t up to standard with the franchise. Our orders delivered through Uber eats would ALWAYS, and when I say always, I mean it, come either missing something or completely wrong. We decided to call the location to address it and we were given a coupon to eat there. If you can guess it when we went, they literally messed up our orders yet again. That s when we decided it was the last time there. We did not complain, we did not address it anymore. There s so much you can do with places like this one. We love this franchise, and their food in general is pretty good. That s why, even though we quit this location, we found that the Cambridge location offers a waaay better service, with great staff and amazing food.

Worst customer service ever. I went outside for a smoke after paying my bills while my laptop, wallet, external harddrive, wireless headset and my keys were left in the laptop bag. When i came back inside to pick my bag they told me the woman who was sitting next to me said she is family took it. When i told them i need to see their security cameras, they told me to wait and called Police on me to come and take me outside. Never seen anything like that before. It has been 2 days now and no call from anyone to update me on where my bag is.

My friend and I visited this location this evening for dinner. Service was a little slower than usual however it was a busy night on the patio so this was understandable. We both ordered the butter chicken. When the food arrived at our table, only one butter chicken meal arrived. I believe it was a Manager who brought the food and asked if we were expecting another entree. I explained that we both ordered the same meal. It was explained to us that only one was made and that they placed an order for the second which would be made high priority in the kitchen. It took approximately 10 minutes for the second entree to arrive at our table. By this time, my friend was already half done her meal. The butter chicken was great once it arrived. Once we were ready for our bills, we asked for separate bills. When mine arrived I noticed that nothing had been done to adjust the bill given the circumstance earlier. I politely and awkwardly asked our server if any sort of discount could be applied to my bill given what happened. She apologized multiple times and said she had thought her manager had already applied a discount. She went away to speak with a manager. Upon her return, she notes that she spoke with the Kitchen manager and that he stated the best he could do was a 20% staff discount and the reason for this is because I ate my meal. Our server apologized again and asked if this was ok. I said yes and thanked her. Being a loyal patron to this establishment I expected this to be handled way better than it was. I would like to note that this is not a reflection on our server and the poor rating for service is directly related to how the Kitchen manager handled this situation. Im not looking for any handouts but want to provide feedback so that similar situations might be handled better in the future.

One of our favourite places to hit up for dinner! My partner is gluten & dairy intolerant and they have tons of accommodations, and they NEVER mess it up! My favourite is the spicy tuna tartare we recently had a great experience with Tyler, he was so personable, had perfect timing, and recommended a great beer for me to try!

I had an amazing experience! First of all the food and drinks were amazing, I always go back for the fish tacos and the spicy margarita. But my biggest highlight was how amazing our server Tyler was, he was so friendly, helped out so well in working around my food restrictions and just overall made me feel so welcome there! Tyler s amazing service plus the kitchen s incredible cooking made State and Maine a 10/10 experience for me, I ll be back soon!

I thought it would have been fancier.

My family and I tried State and Main for the first time tonight. We had high hopes considering we have had multiple friends and colleagues praise it. We were seated at a long skinny table that was not only not conducive to conversation, it was also a constant shuffle with plates and drinks. The food was honestly so disappointing. We ordered the pretzel appetizer and the lettuce wraps. Pretzels were meh, the cheese sauce was gross. The lettuce wrapped were nothing to write home about. For meals my daughter got a chicken club she enjoyed it. My son got the kids burger and fries his was okay also. My husband ordered the blackened chicken. He said his meal was mediocre. I ordered a bowl that I could only eat a few bites of. My husband ended up eating my dinner reluctantly. Our server was nice but certainly not attentive. She did not see our empty glasses for drinks despite walking past our table several times. She also did not notice my husband eating my dinner or us waiting to place an order for a different meal. (I had every intention of paying for all the food we ordered) by the time she finally came around everyone else had finished eating and were waiting to leave so I didnt end up ordering anything else. I give 2 stars because the kids liked their meals, the wine we ordered was pleasant and the server was friendly when she was around.

Im a big fan of this restaurant. Our most recent experience wasnt as good as usual, but still great! We ordered the Empire steaks. My partner had mashed potatoes and asparagus on the side, and I had sweet potatoes and asparagus. The steaks were medium rare and a little over seasoned for my taste. The asparagus wasnt consistently cooked and the fries werent evenly seasoned. However, everything was fresh and had decent flavor. I still cleared my plate aside from some gristle and fat on the steak. My partner had a Stella and I had the Cucumber Colada. Both were delicious! Our waitress clearly had a lot of tables so someone else brought out our drinks, but she was quick with the bill when we wanted it! I do recommend this restaurant and the Empire!

Our experience was good. Would have given 5 stars across the board if they were not so stingy on napkins. Other than that we were well taken care of

I had a great time here at State & Main! They were able to help me set up a dinner reservation for a party of 20 and had no issues with the whole experience at all! The food and menu selection was good and the atmosphere is very nice too. Huge thanks to Parker for being such a wonderful host for my friends and I tonight! You really made our dinner amazing.

We had dinner here tonight for the first time tonight. It was a great place. Would definately say its worth the visit.

Upscale chain experience. I went for lunch today, usually supper. The place was packed and noisy. The wait staff was professional and attentive. The kitchen was not keeping up - we waited quite some time for our food. Thankfully it all came out at the same time. The place appeared clean.

I was so impressed with this restaurant. First when I made reservations I indicated that we had 2 guests that had hearing loss and therefore requested a quiet table. Although the restaurant is noisy (the only reason I gave it 4 stars for the atmosphere), our table was tucked back in a corner which was really helpful with background noise. Secondly, my mom ordered the lettuce wraps not knowing they were spicy and she could not eat them. The waiter and staff were so accommodating. She was brought a dish that she was able to enjoy and both the wraps and the new dish were taken off the bill. The waiter was so friendly, helpful and accomodating. The food was fabulous. The service was amazing. I will certainly be returning!! And if you like a bit of spice... The lettuce wraps, Bangkok bowl and the spicy honey margarita are all delish!
