The iconic, locally-owned, Waterloo Region Steak House, home to braised pigtails, slow smoked ribs, mouthwatering steaks along with delicious seafood and more. Since our inception over 65 years ago, our menus and décor have evolved but our team remains eager as ever to meet your expectations.
First time at Charcoal and it is stunning I loved the interior. the drinks are impeccableI (I recommend 🌸wildberry passion or 👠carrie cosmo) but the food was lacking being both over and under done.
Pleasantly surprised with how great this place is. The food, service and atmosphere were on point and I will definitely be returning if I am ever in the area. The kitchen is very accommodating and will adjust your order based on your needs/dietary preferences. The beet salad was one of the best I’ve had. Shoutout to Lauren for the amazing service from the start. Highly recommend getting reservations.
The food was good, the pictured main is the 7oz Japanese Wagu beef. It was legit wagu, and worth the money spent. The bar was a little inconsistent, the cocktails were average. Overall a good experience and recommended to those looking for a nice dinner.
Great food, nice ambiance, and cheerful and accommodating wait staff. The steaks are done to your satisfaction, and the dessert is good. You got to try them!
The meal and service were satisfactory, and the ambiance was quite pleasant. The steak was cooked to perfection, however, the lobster crab dip was excessively seasoned with Old Bay spice, overpowering the other flavors. The bread was slightly overcooked but still acceptable. Overall, it was a positive experience.
Top notch service, food, drinks, and atmosphere!! I was thoroughly impressed with this place all around. I highly recommend the Shanghai Beef Bowl as it was amazing. The beef is crispy and delicious. For drinks, If you are a bourbon fan you have to try the smoked honey old fashion and the blood orange bourbon.
I had meant to post this awhile ago and knew I needed to follow through as the service I received was exceptional. I have a few dietary restrictions and have to be very careful what I eat in a given week. I was really nervous about our staff lunch since it was mid-week and they had us returning to the office afterwards. I got in touch with those coordinating our event, including the chef, ahead of time. They did an amazing job of communicating back and forth about what I could have on the menu, and never made me feel silly for asking. They also surprised me with a custom dessert that actually fit my requirements, since this was the one item we hadn't been able to modify satisfactorily. It was a delicious sugar free meringue and was presented beautifully. I really appreciated the extra care and special touch. The wait staff was also very professional at ensuring each guest had the correct items according to their dietary requests. All in all this was a very good experience.
We started coming here a couple months ago and we love it! The staff isn't intrusive but always around when you seem to need them! Tonight we took our kids and they were very accommodating with some food substitutions! Had a great time and the food was amazing as usual!
Enjoyable atmosphere. Friendly staff. Great food every time.
ordered the a5 wagyu and it came out tasting like a half decent tenderloin, did not melt in my mouth at all like the last time. then got the lobster tail that came out with the meat seeming liquidy and literally DRIPPING. lastly, the manager came out very smug and after all that, spending $500 for all this on 2 people, he offers to take care of the soft drinks and *inedible* lobster tail . disgusting.
Great vibe, energetic but not too loud. The food was amazing! They have Halal too which was great to see. I look forward to coming back!
Great atmosphere, awesome staff. Definitely going back again.
Have loved the Charcoal for years and have always enjoyed the service. Went Friday night with some friends as a holiday celebration and something seemed off. Our host didn t smile and didn t seem like he was in the mood to be there. It was noticeable enough that our friends commented on it. Drinks were great but the food was mediocre at best. I look forward to dining at the Charcoal but that night was sub-standard. I ordered The Crown and it was lacking in flavour. I could have purchased a Walmart steak and cooked it myself with my enjoyment. Our friends New York strip looked like a flat-iron steak you d get at a Chucks Roadhouse. The garlic mashed potatoes came out pasty and in a gelatinous mess. Not sure if there s a new chef or a new food supplier, but it wasn t what we expected. I wasn t going to leave a review but I ve been stewing on this for a few days and it just wasn t right. Like I said earlier, we love the Charcoal, but maybe its time is up and we ll try somewhere new for our next fine dining experience. Our bill with tip for the four of us was more than $500, so this wasn t a trivial meal.
This place is one of my favourite places to go! The steak is fantastic! They also, serve dairy free and gluten free options for people like me. Highly recommended. You wont be disappointed.
Emma B was incredible to us! And the food was like absolutely incredible
One of my favs to visit. Food and service never disappoint!
Thank you! I had my wedding reception here and the staff were amazing. My grandma needed extra care to attend and the staff and management were beyond amazing. I also want to thank management for their amazing care, my daughter dropped her bottle and cut her foot open, they provided immediate care and helped us get her all patched up to go to the hospital and they addressed the situation so professionally and we were so grateful. Thank you so much. I m beyond thankful.
Upscale steak house. Lays The Keg in the shade. Amazing food and very professional service
Really taste food! Must try creamy gulgula paratha ! The server was really good GARVIT.
Charcoal is legendary in the region for a reason. There is no beating it on any front. Exceptional in every way. You wont be disappointed.
The food was *excellent*. I absolutely recommend the lobster tail. Theyre cooked and seasoned to perfection
Parking: diagonal parking spots, tight spots, one way exit Food
Great food. Best steak anywhere.
Zahra was a great waitress! The kids breakfast was the best I have seen.
Perfect
Awesome service, great food and a beautiful ambience. Highly recommended
the first time i went to charcoal steakhouse the kitchen forgot to unwrap the butter they put on top of steak so i ended up pulling plastic out of my mouth. the manager was great and gave us a bit of a discount and a free dessert. i just went again on sunday and this time i pulled out a massive string of some sort that was in mash potatoes but ultimately ended up in my mouth. they didn t seem to be bothered by it, didn t offer any sort of compensation, just a lousy apology. used to be my favourite steak place in kw area, i don t think i ll be back anymore though. $250 down the drain
Incredible, attentive service. They went out of their way to accommodate us and make our dining experience pleasant. The kitchen definitely knows what its doing.
Nice ambience for couples and groups. Not truly a family place with young kids to eat. Food was ok but for a steak house competing with the Keg or Ruth Crisp or Jacobs and co, I thought it was not up to par with the prices they are charging. I would eat there again but not my first or second choice. Parking: Late night drive or too tired, there is a hotel attached to it and it is a few minutes off highway 8.
The staff are amazing here. Zahra was extremely attentive and got us everything we needed with a small child (not an easy task). Vegetarian options: Lots of plant based options. Kid-friendliness: They were great with my 1.5 year old.
I was here recently with my family to celebrate my grandmothers 90th birthday. The staff were so accommodating and the food was delicious. The two waitresses who looked after us were extremely patient with me and my two 16 month old twins, who make everything a bit of a challenge.
Amazing. Love the atmosphere. Staff and service were wonderful. Dinner was exceptional. Amazing food.
I ordered a rare filet mignon and salad. The steak was tough and medium. Disappointing.
Good spot for a steak. Feels a bit like the Keg. I would go back.
Excellent service and food also
I come here rarely because it is expensive but the service and the food is absolutely delicious and totally worth it.
Great Seevice by Daniel.
Our favourite go to for an evening out!
We recently had our daughters wedding reception at Charcoal Steak House and it was outstanding !! The staff was friendly, efficient and professional!! The food was amazing and the price was very reasonable. I would highly recommended this venue. A special thank you to our servers Michele, Zahra, Gina and Tiffanny !! You are all Rockstar!! Thanks so much again for everything. Sincerely, Krista and Todd Norton
We went for a quick lunch with my girlfriend to martinis and the food was really good, our server Marianna was very attentive and funny, she definitely made our time better. The mashed potatoes were a little bit dry but other than that everything was fantastic. I would highly recommend this place and honestly, worth the visit. Customer service was great and would have no problem going back. Marianna was a joy to deal with
Great service, nice atmosphere, great steak!
Great restaurant. Has lots of options and friendly staff. A bit slow sometimes but that s just how restaurants are. If you re looking for a good steak house this is the spot!
Service was great, lovely atmosphere and the food is always good there, Whatever you pick you will love it,
Martinis is one of my favorite places at the Charcoal Steakhouse. I esp love the ambience on the covered, heated patio.. greenery and plants every season. Of course, its the excellent food and service that keeps me coming back. As much as we love Martinis.. the lower Mediterranean level has a wonderful menu with pastas etc, but if you want a wonderful steak enjoy the Steakhouse section. Martinis and Steakhouse are on main level and Dels is lower level. Whatever youre craving youll find it at one of 3 restaurants.
Great place for a gourmet meal. Clean, airy, modern ambiance. Nice service. A feel good restaurant.
What a wonderful place to celebrate special occasions.
Enjoyed our family dinner in this renovated open concept dining room.
I recently dined at Charcoal Steakhouse and had an exceptional experience. Our server, Mary, was fantastic professional, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. It was clear she genuinely enjoys her job, and her enthusiasm showed throughout the evening. She was quick to refill our water glasses and made excellent wine recommendations that paired perfectly with our meals. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was fantastic. I highly recommend Charcoal Steakhouse, and we will definitely be returning!
Gluten-free and vegetarian dinner! Absolutely amazing food, was so beyond full and satisfied. Wish that they had gf Wonton nachos as they used to be my favorite but the coliflour bites were so yummy, vegetarian pad thai was so perfect, and the cheese cake could have made me cry...I havent had cheese cake in so long because of my Celiac disease but this put such a smile on my face. Has always been one of my favorite restaurants in town! Even now as I am gluten-free, still my go-to restaurant :) Dietary restrictions: Celiac, vegetarian, and vegan options:)
Always great service and food
It was an excellent place for a meal. The lighting was a little bit too dark for my eyes. Food
Great meal!
Outstanding dinner with friends.
Excellent high quality dishes, great customer service. Highly recommend.
One of my favorite Steakhouse restaurants!!!
Just moments ago had our 43rd anniversary dinner here. Outstanding staff and service. From the hostess hustling to give us a perfect table (no reservation!) to our fantastic waiter Jonas to the perfect filet mignon and salmon, we thoroughly enjoyed it. Two big thumbs up! Highly recommended.
My wife and I chose the Charcoal to celebrate my birthday. This is a restaurant we like for special occasions when we want to feel special. We arrived a bit early for our reservation, but were warmly welcomed, given a choice of table locations, and were seated immediately. Our hostess clearly wanted happy customers. Our waitress, Eman, was quick to see what we would like for drinks, and gave us time to pour over the menu. She was attentive to our wishes always made us feel valued. Cheryl started with the Parmesan Cheese Toast, and I with the Spring Pea Soup. Her toast was delicious with a sweet drizzle of balsamic vinegar, and my soup had a gentle background flavour of coconut. Wonderful both ! Her main course was the classic choice of the Charcoal Smoked Ribs. She chose to have half brown sugar sauce and half BBQ. I chose the Seafood Risotto. The ribs were done perfectly and were finger-licking good. My risotto was creamy with a light flavoured sauce that did not overwhelm the scallops, shimp, mussels or halibut. The fish was grilled perfectly, a nice grilled flavour with a moist inner meat. We finished this delicious lunch with a shared Creme Brulee and a coffee. the desert was mouth watering good. We left the restaurant as a very satisfied couple who had shared an exceptional dining experience. Vegetarian options: A varied menu selection of plant based dishes
The mini beef Wellingtons were a great start to the meal. Meat is very tender, the sauce is delicious. We also tried the seasonal dish of the blue moon menu, the duck with seasonal vegetables. The duck was succulent, tender a perfect meal. Atmosphere of the restaurant was really nice, elegant. Definitely recommend
Great steak. One of the best filet mignon steaks I have had in a long time. Highly recommend this establishment. Large seating areas. Atmosphere very nice. Decent portions. Good drinks. Tasty crème brûlée. Coffee was also good. Reasonably priced. Give it a try. You won t be disappointed. Worth the drive. Note: only negative was that our server was slow (10 mins) to notice our empty drinks and ask if we wanted seconds. Bruce and Linda Wood Georgetown, ON.
Great experience celebrating our anniversary. Service was top notch, food was amazing and they offered complimentary dessert to celebrate. Great establishment!
Drinks are too expensive $21 for a glass of wine!
The food was fantastic, with service to match. Very relaxed and quiet atmosphere. Wheelchair accessibility is brilliant, good ramp to the entrance, automated doors actually worked which is always a bonus. Parking: Parking was good but there aren t many accessible parking spaces. Wheelchair accessibility: Easy ramp from parking lot to main door, auto doors worked well.
Many many many dinners over the years and never a review...hard to review such a consistent high quality staple in The region. I never have a single complaint, and if i did i am confident the charcoal team would meet it with the best level of customer service and i would leave a happy customer. Keep it up folks
If you like steak, I suppose it is good, else there are other choices to eat at.
Perfect night out for a date or any social event, business or leisure. The place has an authentic vibe from the time you entered the place. The staff are professional and courteous. The food. What I could describe it was just great for me. The atmosphere is nice and accompanied nicely with an elegant, quality culinary experience.
The best place in the area for steak.
The best pepper crusted steak I have ever had. Cooked to perfection
Bit of a mixed review on the food, overall the menu seemed impressive with alot of variety but overall our meals were just OK. Ordered: lobster/crab dip 3.5/5, pea soup 2/5 straight baby food, no creative spin just peas. Apple Chicken 3.8/5 .. Chicken breast was moist, however the potato sides appeared to be eggplant vs potatoes. Chicken fettuccine 3/5 - appreciate the use of dark/white meat, but alot of pasta with little flavor. Coconut creme bruele 2.5/5 .. not a Coconut forward dessert at all which the waitress explained prior to me ordering which I appreciated. Nice atmosphere.
We ordered take out while on a family trip with our young children- the staff were very friendly and professional over the phone and very helpful in accommodating a meal for my picky toddlers. My husband picked up and said the atmosphere of the restaurant was very nice and would like to go back to dine in!
Perfect experience Went there randomly as i slept nearby and was astonished by the quality of the food and service: everything is high quality Food
First, the staff were amazing. Thank you for your attention and wonderful suggestions. Second, the food was fabulous. I had the pea soup, rare rib eye, and creme brule. On the side, I started with a smoked honey Manhattan, followed with the Cave Springs Charcoal Red.
Went with a party of 6 on a Wednesday night. Reservations are recommended. It was very busy. Everyone really enjoyed the meal. Most had a steak, one had seafood. Service was fast and friendly but not intrusive. Overall a great place for a high end dinner or a business meeting
Our server Andrea, treated us like royalty! The drinks are great, try the smoked honey bourbon old fashion or the margarita! The steak and fries are a great option but the ribeye was pure perfection! Cant wait to go back!
Had a lovely evening here. Our server was excellent, very helpful and always there just when we needed her. The crab cakes were delicious, but the Wagyu steak was just fantastic. I couldnt recommend this place more, it really is one of the best in Kitchener.
Great place to go for a birthday dinner! Service was good and the ribs were amazing. Parkings a bit of a struggle, though and the entrance is shared with 2 other restaurants, so that parts a bit confusing.
A whee bit noisy. Vegetarian options: Absolutely great. Food : 5/5 |
The food and the service are spectacular. The brunch menu has a lot of variety, I ordered the Neptune, which came with two generous portions of crab cakes. The drink menu is also great, I don t think you can make the wrong choice. The drinks were perfectly balanced, didn t taste watered down or too sweet. I ordered the Havana mojito and it was the best mojito I ve ever had.
We were a table of6 for a birthday surprise. What a fantastic experience we had.our server Zara was amazing. She made the experience even better.cant wait to go back.
Pea soup was good, steak was average and expensive, sticky toffee pudding was excellent
Used to live in KW and back for a visit so we had to go to this staple. A bit disappointing. Cheese toast starter was yummy. Steak frites entree was okay. Meat was very grisly and overdone. Expected a better cut of meat. Oysters were excellent with fresh grated horseradish. Prime rib was a thin cut but mashed potatoes were a fail. Seemed like they were leftovers reheated.
Was my birthday yesterday and Charcoal Steak house was the spot for my dinner Was immediately greeted as we came in and seated right away. Very nice spot inside and a very classy place The service was amazing, Waitress kept checking up on us and was holding conversation as we were paying I got the Chicken Mushroom Fettuccine and it was amazing, The only thing I would say is that the chicken was a little bit dry but everything else was good. The portion sizes were also very good and had me taking some in a box for the next day, Definitely a top 5 pasta in the city Final bill came to about $110 for 2, Definitely worth it though and for sure recommend to anybody looking for a nice date night out 9/10
A bit pricey
Ordered the Tomahawk steak for the 2 of us. While the steak was cooked exactly as ordered, I do not believe that it is worth the price. There was a noticeable amount of fat to meat ratio in the wrong direction. The steak itself was probably no more than 15oz. So $185 for 2 salads, 2 potatoes (one upcharge for twice baked) and 2 7 1/2 oz steaks. Not a real value there at all. Our server was amazing, attentive and invisible when necessary. We didnt feel rushed in the slightest. Wheelchair accessibility: They were very accommodating to a lady who sat to the table adjacent to us.
Superb meal. The steak was tasty and well prepared. Not a cheap place to visit but so much better than a place like The Keg.
A very quiet place, good food, excellent service. Dietary restrictions: It is important to inform the waitress to advise on the best dish and she will inform the kitchen to take care when preparing the dish.
Food was decent but service was underwhelming. Had made a reservation for 2 and they put us at a large booth that was not intimate. Then we had to wait quite a while for a water refill and there were our finished dishes on the table between the appetizer and main course. perhaps okay at a mid tier family restaurant but I expect better service for the price point.
All I can say is the food is amazing. Great service, friendly, atmosphere. Will be back.
Great meal at a reasonable price I had a full rack of ribs and a ceaser salad. The salad was good but the lettuce was a little wilty. But lots of dressing. Ribs were very tastey. I would definitely eat there again.
The restaurant was beautiful and the staff was very friendly. The food tasted great. The portions felt small for the price point. The food presentation is very dated and could use a fresh perspective.
Service was exceptional. There was a family at the next table with a small child (unfortunately) just as their meal was being served the child started to bawl. The waitress came over immediately and offered to take the mothers meal back to the kitchen to cut it up so that she could eat easier while tending to the child. This was a benefit to the mother and the tables around them. Well done! Our dinner was excellent, my swordfish delicious. I love the restaurant and have done so for years but was disappointed by the invasive large screen sports TVs. I really wish your bar was more separate from the dining room. All in all excellent service, excellent food.
I would give 5 stars if they did Uber Eats and Doordash service
We celebrated my husbands birthday and my what a treat! The service was amazing. We also did Patio which was very nice because it was covered and had fans at the top also it didnt feel to hot. We got the A5 wagyu steak and my was it delicious! They has gave us a complimentary desert since we were celebrating hubbys birthday and the cheesecake was so fluffy and has the right sweetness. Would definitely recommend everyone to come here.
We went for a Lunch. Amazing food and good vegetarian options too.
Great food and service. You wont be disappointed
Great food, service and a wonderful experience for a 65th birthday party in a private room
Hi Alex and Andreea! I have to thank you both for all the wonderful support you provided to make my daughter s wedding day a fabulous one. The two of you have been easy to reach out to and always responding quickly. You have no idea how much I appreciated it. The Board Room, was beautifully set, exactly as requested. Our servers, Gina, Leanne and Andreea were absolutely amazing. Always had smiles on their faces, very personable with our guests. Gina, was on point with everything, making sure everything went smoothly and making sure everyone was comfortable. She even took the time to go over the menu and provide alternatives for my sister in-law who has food allergies. My SIL was extremely appreciative and thoroughly enjoyed her meal. The food was fabulous! Everything came out at the same time and it was all DELICIOUS ! Our compliments to the Chef, and their team. We will definitely suggest Charcoal Steak House for a great meal and great atmosphere. If anyone is looking for a venue to celebrate an occasion , we ll be recommending your establishment. Once again, thank you for everything you do!
Loved the food and ambience.
We had a reception at the venue. Very nice private room with good food and quite affordable. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free was available
I cant even rate the food or service because once we were seated for Sunday brunch, we sat waiting for 25 minutes. Its not like it was busy... Maybe 5 or 6 other tables occupied at the time, but apparently too busy for us. Pretty disappointed. I had talked this place up for a friend, and am sure she wont be looking for my recommendation next time. Thumbs down!
My boyfriend and I went for dinner last night. Our server, Saida I believe, was really lovely to deal with the entire time. We started with Mini Beef Wellingtons which my partner has been raving about all day today, and the cheese bread, which I thought was amazing. I have never enjoyed balsamic vinaigrette on anything before, but it added a really lovely sweetness to it. For our mains we got the apple butter chicken and peppercorn steak. The chicken was large, perfectly cooked, and SO flavourful. I would 100% order this in the future or recommend anyone else to try it. I had ordered my steak rare, and when it came out I had noticed it was cooked more than my liking. Our waitress was extremely apologetic and sent it back to the kitchen. I wasn t upset at all, but the manager also came by to personally apologize, which we thought was very nice. When my new steak came out it was really yummy, and they gave me all new sides even though I had eaten them previously. Because we had told her it was our anniversary when we originally sat down, she said we could choose any dessert on them! We got the crème brûlée, and my partner said it was very good! When we got the bill, they had also comped our beef wellingtons (I assume for the steak mix up?) which wasn t necessary, but very appreciated. From start to finish our experience was excellent. This was our first visit to Charcoal, but it certainly won t be our last!! Highly recommend! Vegetarian options: There is an entire page of the menu that is plant-based items.
WOW! I had the best steak and lobster tail I have ever had! Cooked perfectly and everything just melts in your mouth. We will definitely be coming back to Charcoal when we are in Kitchener next!
You can eat delicious Italian food in a nice space.
we had the tomahawk steak. it was so juicy and delicious. Dan (if i remembered his name correctly) was a great waiter, certainly highlighted our night, a friendly and funny dude. Loved it, recommend it, will repeat!!! overall, price was fair, matches the food quality. Food
This was a pleasant surprise! Our server Gia deserves a 10 star. Her recommendations and substitutions required for diet restrictions were outstanding ! Very attentive, pleasant and professional. Can t wait to go back :) Thank you!
Great restaurant, just Dont order the bone in tenderloin expecting it to be larger than the standard tenderloin, especially because it was more expensive. I mistakenly did this because I havent had a bone in tenderloin before and was Very dissapointed when I found half the volume of my steak was bone lol. Will not be ordering that again. Vegetarian options: They have a vegan menu
Just once try the Japanese wagyu here ! You ll Never want to eat any other steak again !
One the best around for food, service and atmosphere .....everyone is polite and helpful as well
Had diner last night and it was a fantastic dining experience The food was absolutely fantastic from the appetizers to the main course, the drinks were great and the young man who served us was maybe the most on point server I ve had, he left us wanting for nothing, knew his menu well and was friendly and professional l. Would recommend to anyone
Beautiful restaurant, great friendly service, yummy brunch, what not to love? We will be back!
Just wanted some drinks and apps over the long weekend so we decided to come here. I had a Riesling and two cocktails which were absolutely delicious. I ordered the baked brie and I could eat that everyday. It was sooooo good! Ended things with the brownie which was pretty good. Id definitely come back for another drinks night.
Have been going to Charcoal for years. Never has a bad meal or go wrong.
What a wonderful spot to dine and relax .. will be back!! Awesome meal and Awesome martini!! Bartender was lovely and professional! Thank you so much
One of the best steaks Ive ever had. Service was good.
Delicious food. Service was friendly & prompt. Bathrooms were very clean. Was a very nice dining area with comfortable seating. I enjoyed my visit and would gladly return. Update: Still an awesome place. Was in the area and stopped by. Didnt get a steak this time. The fish tacos were full of fish and very tasty. The mushroom chicken Alfredo was so so so good. Ill be making this place a regular visit when Im in town.
Best steak ever! Great atmosphere and service. Wonderful place for a celebration. Food
Decent restaurant and tasty steak. Many thanks to Juliana for the dedicated service. After confirming with me that we preferred water without ice, she kindly replaced the kettle. We ordered Caesar salad with no pork, Juliana double checked once the salad was served. She also offered free juice to my little daughter. I was so impressed by Julianas attention to details as she brought us the spoon for ice cream (I dont know how she caught it was missing). A must try place, definitely.
This restaurant has been in Kitchener for decades. I wanted to go here when I was in high school but I couldnt afford it. Then I moved out of Kitchener for University and then for work. I was in town today, and finally had the chance to go here for lunch. It didnt disappoint, it may have even been better than I imagined that it would be those 30 years ago. The steak was flavourful and the mashed potatoes were amazing. The caesar salad was done with just the right amount of dressing and the thick cut real bacon made the salad stand out. The service was great and the staff took the effort to make sure that we enjoyed our food. We ate on the semi-enclosed patio that provides ample cover from the sun but still allows you to feel the freedom of eating outdoors.
Celebrated my birthday at Charcoal Steakhouse. Very happy we decided to go here. They had a full plant based menu as well as many other dietary caterings. Our kids enjoyed their burgers and desserts. I enjoyed the Swordfish dish and calamari appetizer. My wife was in heaven with her spring pea soup appetizer and Roja taco dish. We both enjoyed our desserts as well. Our server, Zara, was excellent and cheerful. She was patient with our young boys and came to checkup on us at all the right times. We were all impressed. Great job to the Charcoal team for an excellent menu, and great staff!! Vegetarian options: Vegetarian and vegan. There is a whole separate menu for a plant based diet including plant based desserts Dietary restrictions: Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten Free, probably more
Amazing food! Stella, our server, was an absolute angel
Excellent setting for a dinner with friends. Excellent meat. The bathroom with TV top!
Had a bridal shower for 30 people in a private room. Event planner, food and service were all amazing. We were able to enjoy a special time with family and friends.
Ive been going to Charcoal for decades, as well as other steakhouses in the region, and its consistently head and shoulders above the other establishments. From the quality of their meat, to the chefs that prepare it and the wait staff that serve you, they are top notch. In my opinion, there isnt a steakhouse in the region that can hold a candle to Charcoal.
Food was great but service was amazing. Eman was pretty next level for our requested orders and group. Really appreciate it and she really made the meal!!
All excellent highly recommended
Great first experience! We were impressed with the gluten friendly menu and delicious lunch. Dessert was amazing and highly recommend the gluten friendly cherries jubilee brownie & toffee cheesecake. Thank you to Eman for her warm welcome, attentive service, menu knowledge and excellent customer service! We ll definitely be back!
Shared the Tuna Bowl and the Pork Special. Tuna Bowl was bland. Pork was fantastic. Service was so good, I almost hugged them.
Delicious food, warm and friendly service
Amazing steaks. We went for the prime rib but unfortunately they ran out of it. Amazing service . Our server was fantastic. The manager came out and apologized for running out of prime rib. We had the ribeye steaks which were amazing.
Amazing cocktails, great staff...never disappointed
Went to this location with a group. Great experience overall. Staff was attentive and efficient. There is obviously a lot of effort put in to creating a dinning experience and attention to a lot of small details. The consensus around our group was that the food was excellent - although the reviews were mixed from those who had the meat servings. The Mini beef Wellingtons and Gochu cauliflower bites stood out for particular praise.
Nice place to take someone.
New menu is excellent
Went for a work event where we had a catered menu to pick from. Food was amazing. Dessert was great. I picked a lemonade for a drink which i will admit was not what I was expecting. It was ok but a bit tart and not really a lemonade more like a soda water. But still overalle eperience was great. I had ceasar salad with this chicken in white sauce with mashed and veggies. Very good. And a brownie
Good food. The server was very good and the atmosphere was good. Overall a great experience. One of the best restaurants in Kitchener.
Love the steaks. One of the very few places that offer quality , certified halal steaks on the menu
Always a treat eating here
Hosted my wedding dinner here last week in their Estate Room and it was PERFECT. Everyone was raving about the food, and a number of people said it was the best wedding theyd ever been to. A lot of the credit for that goes to the event planning team. Alex and Andreea were wonderful in helping me sort out the best arrangement for the room and ensuring that everything ran smoothly. There was a small mix up about when we could access the room, but in the end the team was very good at ensuring the mix up didnt affect the event itself. Credit also has to go to our servers and coordinators on the ground: Michele, Maleri, and Stephanie. They were fantastic! They knew exactly what needed to happen when, and were able to help guide me when I was uncertain about how the evening should proceed (like when to cut the cake!). They were flexible when there was a mix up with the seating, happily accommodated allergies that I wasnt aware of and hadnt planned for, and provided additional kids meals and colouring for the children. They were friendly, professional, enthusiastic, and efficient. And finally credit goes to the chefs! I never met them, but the food was excellent, and everyone left very happy and very full :) I couldnt have asked for a better evening <3 I would absolutely recommend if youre looking for a venue for a smaller wedding!
Peppercorn steak never misses.
this is a wonderful restaurant. If you want to plunge into Europe, then go there. Delicious non-American food, large selection, wonderfully cooked. Service at the highest level. The price is of course above average, but if you miss Europe, then go there!
We found this restaurant this evening without knowing it. We enjoy a lovely dinner with well cooked dishes and nice breavages. The services was great and the atmosphere is a place to celebrate. I expect I can go with my wife again for my birthday. If you are in town, you should visit this restaurant.
Was here last night on a second date...the food was absolutely fantastic , portion sizes are perfect....excellent customer service from our server...the bathroom is by far the cleanest brightest restaurant bathroom Ive ever seen... yes the price is a little more but when you get quality food and service Ill gladly pay it. Will absolutely be coming back Keep up the good work Charcoal Steak House.
Im still drooling thinking about the steak there. Will for sure go again.
Superb ambience, awesome service and rib eye to die for. 9/10
Great food and service. Would definitely return. The most tender calamari I have ever had and the beef wellington were delicious as well.
All around a nice experience. I had the beef blue cheese salad. Food was nicely made. Appetisers were mini beef wellington (nice), calamari (have had better) and the baked (good). Enjoyed the service too.

Our waitress Tania was super nice and friendly. The steaks were tender and delicious. My family and I had a great time at the restaurant. We would highly recommend that you dine here.
