Cafe Pyrus is a gem in the heart of Kitchener Downtown. This was my first visit as a friend arranged a reunion at this cute cafe. It’s a vegan heaven for all those who are vegan and even if not, this place is a must-try! Their menu offers, burritos to sandwiches to soups and salads and I cannot stress enough how delicious everything is. The ambience is incredibly cozy and comfortable. Staff was amazing and very welcoming and professional. Food was 💯🫶🏻. Ample of street parking right opposite to it. I had a chance to try their Chickpea Melt and still in a food coma, their soup of the day - Roasted red pepper soup was super delicious and comforting. Coffee is amazing too.. can go on and on! Pls give it a shot and experience yourself! #supportlocal my peeps!
I love this place! However, I was a little disappointed in the size of the taco salad 😔 I usually get the $14 one and it is a good size. Not today, things must have changed because what I got seemed like a mere sample... 😕
It was my first time visiting this vegan heaven today a d I highly recommend it 👌 I had a warm comfort food combo, because I got frozen last night.. a gluten free 7 grain daiya grilled cheese and spiced green lentil soup have hit the spot. For desert I had a vegan Nanaimo bar and an oat milk hot chocolate with coconut whipped cream on top to go. Stuff is pleasant and efficient and place is clean and welcoming. Only thing I did not like was that they have a regular cheese.. I hope that they don't start adding more non vegan items like most "vegan" restaurants in the future. OMG, I just tried their Nanaimo bar is out of this world.. I have never had a better one ever! It melts in your mouth, it's so positively creamy and delicious.. you have to try it asap 😃
Great place for vegans!! Everything is sooo good and so many options. Only downside is the price however it’s not that bad. Same price as subway and a drink for a sandwich and cookie here. So honestly not too different, which is so great considering it’s vegan. Will forever be a fan of this place!
I wish I could give this place zero stars. I just had a quesadilla here, and it was one of the worst things I’ve ever eaten. It tasted like cardboard wrapped in cheese-flavored disappointment. The tortilla was stale, and the filling had no flavor whatsoever. Honestly, I don’t know how they managed to ruin something so simple. On top of that, the service was slow, and the staff seemed completely uninterested in the fact that I was clearly not enjoying my meal. Avoid this place unless you’re in the mood for overpriced, tasteless food and a miserable experience.
Incredible, so glad we chose this spot for a quick bite. Bagel and Egger was phenomenal, served toasty and delicious flavour in every bite (ketchup was not required at all). Cinnamon bun served warm was so delightful, generous size and soft goodness. Prices were reasonable compared to the prices of Toronto. Lots of love and success to this place...wish I took pictures of the fare
So many options for vegan and vegetarian; like literally we were confuse on what to order, as we are vegetarian and not lot of places have extensive menu designed around vegan/vegetarian group! So their employee suggested me to go with ‘The angry vegan’ which is their most popular one. It was delicious. Also we tried their in-house baked focaccia which was again so crisp and tasty. The vibe to it is just low-key like any other downtown coffee shop. A little expensive thou. They have lot of space and we like that they won’t mind if you sit their working on your laptop for couple of hours.
Excellent food, friendly and fast service, very comfortable and clean, good ambiance. Would recommend this cafe to anyone looking for a meal, a coffee or a quick snack in downtown Kitchener. Centrally located across from the main transit hub and close to several parking lots. It's almost incidental that it's a vegan cafe, but as a vegan myself it's such a huge bonus to be able to eat somewhere with so many options. Will definitely return!
Very unorganized. Tried to be patient, but after waiting over 1 hour for a breakfast wrap, that was sitting in the window cold. I have to come forward. I confronted the staff and they were dumbfounded. A joke at the very least!!!!!
Does not make sense to me to serve beverages in paper cups when you do not take out the order. No matter the quality of your food, being a vegetarian cafe comes with paying attention to sustainability
The best cafe in the area, the food is delicious. Thanks for the great service.
I discovered this place a month ago and have been coming more regularly since then. I love the vibes, and the food is amazing! I highly recommend the Foggy London Town, the muffins, and the Bagel and Eggr. The people are nice and friendly; I truly love this place!
Vegan? Vegetarian? No problem, this place is for you! So many options to choose from with a plethora of sides and drinks available. Vegetarian options: The whole place is veggie or vegan - your choice! Kid-friendliness: I bring my kids here all the time - they love it!
sometimes slow to bring food out, also sometimes forgets some of an order. really good menu and friendly staff though!
The matcha they make is really tasty (some places put so much sweetener in it. This place doesn t. ) Staff have really good customer service skills. They ran out of Nanaimo bars when I got there :( But I got something else. I would recommend this place.
Great place for a bite health and good.
The lids that you are currently using do not work at all. It is impossible to drink this coffee without spilling on hands and clothes. It would be better without a lid.
Great coffee, friendly service, and an easy place to have a business chat with a new colleague.
A local fav for tasty VEGAN/gf/df/veg treats, breakfast, and lunch options (most options are vegan or have a vegan modification). They also have a great selection of healthy smoothies and coffee/teas Recently started staying open late which is wonderful since the patio is SO lovely
Love this cafe! I am gluten-free and vegetarian, and they have many options! I do wish they carried gluten-free baked goods, but I understand that is hard to do with a gluten kitchen. Great cold tea and gf veggie bacon sandwich! Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free
The staff is nice. My partner loves the overnight oats here.
I get lunch here often. The food is very good and I like the PB bites. The atmosphere is nice with the big windows. The last few times I went there cafe art was not strong 2/10 Food
Great local place to have a coffee also have a location on spure line trail.
Paid for something they ran out of and didn t offer a refund. Sandwich was bleh. Pastries are good but dry and a lot of sugar
My wife took me here because its one of her favourite places and it didnt disappoint. As a vegetarian I couldnt be happier. I had the Big bang sandwich and it was fantastic.
Always Fabulous Food
Food and coffee are both amazing, however as a couple other reviewers have said before me you need to be prepared to wait - food although always delicious takes a long time whether they seem busy or not (in my experience). Espresso based drinks depending on the day and # of staff working also seem to take longer than I would say is normal from other cafes. To be clear it s still delicious and worth the wait if you have the time but just approach with caution if you re on a timeline. Personal favourites are the breakfast wrap, club sandwich, and the Caesar salad.
If you want plant based food in Kitchener you must try Purus. Great food. Even vegan croissants on Wednesday and Saturday. And I loved that all people are welcome. Dietary restrictions: All food is vegan and even the baked goods
Used to be one of my go-to spots, however the staff had zero sense of urgency when a long line formed after i d placed my order. then my stuff sat in the window for five minutes before being brought to me. was also very irked as a customer service worker to see a barista using their phone & chatting with the other barista behind the counter during a rush.
Cafe Pyrus is the best place in KW to meet up with friends for coffee and vegan treats, my favourites are the scones and Nanaimo bars! Or if you re feeling a little hungrier, I definitely recommend the angry vegan or the sausage roll.
One of my favourite vegan (vegetarian) spots to go. Everyone is friendly, food is delish, and it s a great spot to meet friends, do work, or people watch. Lots of great seating outside when the weather is nice.
I really liked the breakfast wrap that I got. I asked for extra tempeh and I wish they had put more. It was still really tasty. The chocolate shake I got was alright. It tastes like it may have date syrup in it. I would order from here again. Seems like a clean and healthy establishment.
Vegetarian options: Everything on the menu is vegetarian Dietary restrictions: I have celiac disease and feel safe eating here. Almost everything can be made gf and they have a (separate) gf baked goods section. Food : 5/5 |
Enough
the best london fog!
Very nice place for hangout with yum food. Vegans paradise. Must try - Big Bang burger
I had a really good breakfast sandwich and coffee here, but I was confused as to why they would place the sandwich in a to-go bag with ketchup packets when I said I was eating in. It seems they do this for most of their items, which defeats their purpose of reducing waste.
THE BEEF PATTY AND THE CRISPY BACON WAS KEY
Cozy lil cafe conveniently DTK On my first visit a friendly barista recommended one of their seasonal steamers and it was damn near life changing lmao. I also highly recommend the Foggy London Town and their croissants super tasty!!
Very busy and cramped. Not ideal for catching up with an old friend.
Absolutely my favourite place
Evenly spread cream cheese on the delicious bagel was the highlight of this visit. Good serving, proportionally divided between both sides of the bagel, no clumps or bare spots. May sound trivial but if you ve been to Tim s, do you understand why this is important!
Our favorite place in the downtown Kitchener, you can get a variety of drinks, coffee and sweets to share or to enjoy alone!
Great coffee and food, and always friendly staff!
Today, I visited Cafe Pyrus and was impressed by their exceptional service and accommodating staff. When I inquired about the salad dressing ingredients due to my religious restrictions on balsamic vinegar consumption, the staff promptly offered two suitable alternatives, making my dining experience stress-free. The salad was fresh and tasty, and the overall quality of the food was good. I highly recommend Cafe Pyrus for its outstanding service and willingness to cater to individual dietary needs, creating a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere.
Great Cafe and yummy food
Perfect place for studying or a nice work day. The food was delish and I forgot to take a picture lol. Overall great experience. I dropped my drink and was ready to play for another, but she let me have another for free. Thanks for that! Vegetarian options: Aged cheddar Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options
I had the chick pea sandwich (it had a different name, melt?), and omg... Ive never tasted flavour like that. It was delicious. We will return. Thank you!
Great vegan/vegetarian options, super tasty and priced right. Friendly staff topped off the experience.
Such a cute place:) I was soooo happy to see several options for baked goods that were GF AND VEGAN. The chocolate chip cherry muffin was surprisingly good (usually Im not a fan of fruit in muffins) glad I gave it a shot! :)
a good vegan cafe that has its share of problems and price increases
I had the chick pea mash on a bun and it was moist and flavouful. Service was very friendly and accommodating to my strict diet. Atmosphere had a college tec vibe to it and lots of window space to people watch. Would be nice to have a nook with a carpet/fake fireplace or something to give more warmth but it is a small space to start. Vegetarian options: Have real cheese or vegan cheese Dietary restrictions: Kitchen is knowledgeable and helpful
I had the Reuben sandwich with kale salad. Really enjoyed the salad. Not 100 % on the sandwich it needs something more.
The girl who was working today (Dec. 30) between 3:30 and 4:30 has the WORST attitude ever. She s always rude and no one else is so I dont know why she s there. Mistakes happen in the food and beverage industry but telling a client you will be CHARGING them to remake an order when it wasnt up to standard is horrible customer service and a surefire way to ensure clients wont return.
It was my first time trying a vegetarian breakfast wrap and it was not something I personally enjoyed (I m a very picky eater)! A manager/owner? Noticed my reaction and checked in to make sure everything was okay. He offered me the option to try something else, even after initially refusing; and letting him know I m a picky eater he still wanted me to leave with a positive experience. He made me a customer favourite item from the menu and it tasted super delicious! I felt so valued as a new customer, this will now be my go to spot when travelling to visit my family in the area!
I enjoy ordering lunch weekly from Cafe Pyrus. The breakfast griller in particular is the best!! They also have many tasty baked goods.
Stumbled upon this place out of serendipity. I don t review a place till its memory has lingered for more than a day in my head. But this place is very good. And it has FREE WIFI! Thank you. I ordered a flat white and the coffee was trop magnifique. It was well balanced. I suppose it has an entirely vegan food menu, with a few dairy items, like cheddar cheese and regular milk for your coffee. I order the breakfast club and it came with a chunky slice of warm tofu and tempeh. It is all biodegradable to-go containers. For the location the prices are worth it. Varied types of seating ranging from small families to single seaters for students scouring for free wifi and good coffee places.
Amazing vegan food. The vegan bacon and cheese and egg was sooo good.
Great spot to grab vegan meals. Friendly staff and great service. Not fast food so it takes a bit longer to prepare but its well worth the wait!
Quite dirty, too average considering prices, christmas decor in June
Great vegan food, cool staff, good vibes
Owner is disrespectful to staff and customers. He has said inappropriate things to me as a customer, I have also heard him say very rude and derogatory things to his employees. I actually took myself out of line from ordering after how he spoke to me. I refuse to give my money to a company who treats their employees and their customers like dirt. Mediocre food, highly overpriced.
Lets just say that grabbing my morning coffee or mid day lunch here always makes my day! Though Im not vegetarian/vegan myself, I appreciate inclusive places like this in our city.
I m not the type to typically write a review but I had an experience that shook me. The owner seems very disrespectful and unpleasant not to just me but his employees from what I witnessed. This place used to be a go to for me but I am now on the search for a regular spot with higher quality products and workplace standards. Very disappointing.
The place needs better ventilation
I love Cafe Pyrus! It s such an amazing little cafe spot in DTK. Not to mention, it s vegan friendly!!! As a vegan myself, I am always looking for cute eateries and hangout spots, and this is just perfect all around! The food is always so healthy tasting, and quite delicious! My boyfriend and I LOVE their $5 Grillers. Such a cute breakfast option when you can t just grab a Timmies breakfast sandwich! I haven t tried their coffees, but I ve tried their smoothies and they re also delicious! I ve tried the club, the Reuben, the Angry Vegan, plus, a few other items and I ve liked everything I ve ordered here! It s so very creative and exactly what you want to fuel your body with in the morning or mid-day. There is also a water supply inside of the dine-in area with cups, so you don t have to worry about bothering them for water when you re visiting to finish up work, or hangout with friends. Overall, so happy to have this company so close to me! Us vegans are always happy to see options like these. I unfortunately didn t take a picture but trust my word when you say you will not be disappointed with anything on the menu!
Excellent customer service and delicious vegan food plus they have couches. Its a great place to meet other vegans or people who enjoy plant based food
Took forever to give a small sandwich. The size itself was disappointing after waiting forever to get the order. And the sandwich was cold and dry after it came to us. Very disappointing experience.
Cafe pyrus is my go to cafe for hanging out with friends and working remotely. If I m looking for a change of scenery I love coming here to get the angry vegan sandwich, smoothies and the samoa cookies. It is a large spacious area with beautiful floor to ceiling windows, chill music, decent wifi and great food.
Enjoyed the Big Bang and curried soup. Had the iced tea and nainamo bar as well - highly recommend. A different feel from the old location, but still exceptional food. I m glad it s still around. Parking: Pretty good for a Sunday downtown, I can imagine it s a bit harder during the week.
My bestie brought me to Cafe Pyrus and its definitely one of our new favourite chill spots! The seating is cozy and well-spaced, the staff has always been kind and accommodating, and the menu has a good selection considering our many food sensitivities. Most recently we stopped by for a light lunch and loved the food. I was absolutely thrilled to be able to safely eat the soup of the day - they even had the full ingredient list ready at the register for easy reference! And when I asked about swapping out the side of toast (which I can not eat) for tomato slices instead, I was met with respect and was accommodated. I am very happy with Cafe Pyrus and absolutely recommend it if youre in the downtown Kitchener area!
Really enjoyed the place. Was there on a quiet Saturday afternoon.
Delicious and affordable plant based food. Ordered online for pickup, was ready on time and easy!
Friendly staff, yummy food. Thank you
Best hot chocolate and baked snacks. They usually have some nice local artwork for sale. Super chill place.
Our go-to lunch spot
Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten free, dairy free and vegan options.
Came for the first time to try the menu. We ordered a couple of angry vegan sandwiches along with a tea latte and hot apple cider. I wasnt expecting that all the food would be brought out in take out containers. You place your order at the counter and then they bring your food to your table. There are tables, a counter, and a lounging area. There are large windows and in the warmer months theres a patio as well. Parking: There are a few free on street parking spaces. There is a paid parking lot behind the restaurant.
I ordered a citrus scone and a large latte with a lavender shot. Although the latte was beautifully crafted, it was too heavy for my liking. It was like when the coffee itself is on the rich and bitter side, but then they add too much sugar to it to counteract the sourness and bitterness. The scone also was too sweet and a little too dry for my liking. I could not finish either. I feel like Cafe Pyrus Outposts coffee and desserts are slightly tastier/fresher than this branchs, but this one obviously had friendlier service and better seating area.
I was expecting more from this Vegan eatery. The food wasnt amazing which I thought was a shame. Presentation wasnt the best either. It could have been so much better. Parking: Parking at the back is free on sundays.
Dietary restrictions: All vegan Food
We decided to come by for a quick bite before a wedding we had to go to. My husband waited over 20 min for a breakfast wrap. Several other people were served there s before us, even some who came in after us. We ended up having to leave before getting the wrap because we ran out of time. There was plenty of staff in the kitchen so it made no sense.
We ordered The Big Bang (their recommendation) which was very tasty but I still wouldve liked my burger hot (the bun was cold). We got black bean quesadilla which wasnt bad but Id have liked some better sauces(maybe mayonnaise) inside. Spro shake (chocolate smoothie) was good. I wish the taste was better... I loved going to the place though since everything else was great.
Food is ok, but I would definitely not recommend. The past 3 times I ve gone within an hour of closing their kitchen is not open and they aren t actually selling food. Just the lounge is open. They definitely need to update their hours as the open hours don t necessarily mean they have food. If you try to go during regular hours the wait is 40 mins plus. Not a great spot to grab a quick snack.
To be transparent, it is a good place for coffee, but the food is a little on the pricey side for what you get. Pictured: $7 cup of potato pea soup with one potato piece.
Their chai latte is excellent and I cant stop going back for their muffins and other desserts!
So many vegan options! Love it. Planning to go here regularly. Coffee is great too. Vegetarian options: So many vegan and vegetarian options!
I love Cafe Pyrus so much! I m not even vegan and find myself craving many of their dishes. The cinnamon buns are hands down the best I ve ever had and the Foggy London Town is to die for! You can really tell the difference in the quality of their ingredients vs other chain restaurants. For example the London fog from Starbucks tastes horrid now after experiencing Pyrus.
Delicious overnight oats and gf Nanaimo bar
Love the cafe s atmosphere, it s a great place to relax or work. Although the almond milk vanilla latte I got was just mediocre. I find it a little too watered down.
Nice modern Cafe, not alot on the menu that I would have liked but thats just me
Cafe Pyrus is always a solid choice for me if I need to grab something on the go. All the food here is vegan by default (though you can add dairy to certain selections). The staff is friendly and the food is delicious. Whats not to love?
I want to start this review by saying Im not vegan or vegetarian. Stumbled upon this place by accident, decided to give it a try. Ordered two breakfast wraps and had to throw them both out, total waste of $20 and food. Im sure the food is good for its desired clientele but if you are not one of those people, I would not bother with any of their food. The coffee was fine, will not be going back.
Great food today and everyday that I go to this restaurant.
I ve been to Cafe Pyrus a couple times now! Staff is friendly, and the food is amazing (all vegan)! Lots to try, but can t go wrong with either The Club or The Big Bang! Vegetarian options: Fully vegan menu
Ive come to Café Pyrus a lot of the years. Its always been a great Vegan Café. Most of the items on the menu are vegan but some have to have cheese alterations made and the staff is very clear on this. This Café likes to support the arts, hanging different works for sale on its walls. They also host events outside its doors every so often as well. Overall, I quite enjoyed coming to this Café and the only thing I would change is some kind of customer tracking system for outside guest as they can sometimes be lost in the mist. However this is usually never a problem when they use toy animals as markers (adorable) Dietary restrictions: The menu is 95% vegan. Parking: You can park in the back of the Café but do note that it might be paid depending on the time of the day. You can park next to the Café if its free. Wheelchair accessibility: There are ramps for wheelchairs and the tables allow you roll up in one. The doors also accessible.
The food here is amazing and very delicious Find it a little expensive for what u get and the service is very slow Great staff but slow Food : 5/5
Loved the food, service, and all around vibe. Would come here every day if I could!
Café Pyrus has been one of my favourite neighbourhood gems since I moved downtown. I ve enjoyed every single thing I ve ever ordered there. The only thing I like better than the vibe, yummy food and drinks is the strong values and integrity this business operates with (donating extra food to the soup kitchen - amazing!!!). Love this place.
I recently tried their soup and it was absolutely fantastic!!!! They have the best food there! Next time l will come with all my friends for a big feast!
Got the Angry Vegan and the kaleslaw as a side. Flavours were great, but a bit pricey for the size. Along with a matcha latte my total was $25. Would come here again though.
food so good youll forget its vegan
Everything was delicious! Loved it
Great place for a vegan snack and coffee
Nice place. Met my son for breakfast. Yummy vegan breakfast wrap abd a great decaf latte. Clean, bright and comfortable.
Ordered a cappuccino and orange chocolate chip muffin. Both were okay in taste. They have ample space indoor and outdoor Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options are available Parking: Hard to find Wheelchair accessibility: Has a few steps to get to the main door
Glad to find this place, great vegan food, quick but fresh, and so nice to have more balanced food options than the typical greasy fast food vegan variety. I prefer non deep fried vegan, and this place definitely had lots of yummy options!
Cafe Pryus is awesome. They have a huge selection of vegan and vegetarian options which make it suitable for everyone, even if you are not vegan you can enjoy a plate here. Food is delicious, everything I tried here is good quality and fresh. Service could be slightly improved. The person who brought us our drinks and food did not say a word and just left the things on the table, it felt a little weird. Apart from that I will always come back and bring new friends:)
This is a beautiful cafe with very friendly staff and delicious food. There s lots of seating inside and out, the bathrooms are clean (so great to see menstrual products available for free) and the cappuccino and date square were very reasonably priced and so delicious. Looking forward to coming back again!
Wonderful vibe. Good people.
Great food and service with lots of food options, I they had some more hearty breakfast options like scrambled tofu or tofu benedict or tofu sausages with home fries
Yummy, good vegetarian and vegan food !
Great food! Filling and delicious. We went back after our food for some pastries and they kept well in the car as we walked off our meals. Amazing customer service. There was a mistake between my tea latte and a regular tea (probably my fault for not speaking clearly) which they instantly and kindly corrected (and they left the tea with us aswell - my dad loved it). I would fully recommend!
Absolutely loved this place. Cool, cozy atmosphere and delicious food and drinks. Highly recommend. I plan to come back! Vegetarian options: As a vegetarian, it is always exciting when the whole menu is available! I love that while they can easily make everything vegan, there is the option for real cheese for those of us who just cant give it up.
Good experience with my husband last week. Cute little place.
Love the chickpea melt! Would be a great study place if there was more AC in there
I went to this cafe because of its well crafted plant-based menu, but the service here was beyond horrible. The servers completely messed up my order and did not even bother to apologize for it, when I went to place an order for another coffee, there was noone at the counter and when I asked the barista, she screamed at me saying that she was busy. I dont know if the servers at this restaurant are racist or just plain rude. I would rate this place in negative if I could. In all my years and travels, I have never experienced such horrible service at any establishment. Id recommend Matter of Taste Coffee Roasters a couple doors down for a great cup of coffee and a pleasant experience. Never going back here ever again.
Called in to place takeout order for the office. Told to use website. Website didn t work. Called back to restaurant. They told me they didn t care because it was only a $50 order. I did try another browser and got the website to work (finally) - but ONLY because the office really wanted food from there. Then Pyrus delivered the food 45 minutes early with their in-house delivery person. NOT an awesome or customer focused experience.
Garlic knots and the breakfast club sandwich are god tier
This is a wonderful place. My friends are gluten intollent and have other allergies .. We had a great menu.
Just visited their new King Street location for the first time to reconnect with Downtown Kitchener and everything about the experience met my expectations. There is a nice spacious interior to sit down at but equally awesome is the outdoor patio to soak up some sunshine while you are enjoying a healthy vegan meal.
Excellent food, nice variety and great tasting vegan options.
Quick friendly service.
All vegan (subset: vegetarian) options! Smoothies are delicious. Bought a green machine smoothie to go and all the packaging was compostable. The cafe is really environmentally friendly and has a hippie feel to it.
All of the staff here seem like they would really rather be somewhere else other than providing delicious food to patrons in exchange for tips and exorbitant amounts of money.
a commercial space downtown Kitchener where food and drinks are occasionally served
Lovely, clean atmosphere with excellent customer service. I ordered a Caesar salad and Cinnamon roll. I asked for the cinnamon roll to be warmed up, and it was by far one of the best café desserts Ive had. A must try. Just a chill place to relax.
Great vegan selection and very tasty. The Big Bang was a bit more spicy than I expected, but I shouldve noticed the name
Always a pleasant experience at Cafe Pyrus. Its become one of my go to breakfast and lunch places! Im a vegetarian so I love that I have so many options when compared to any other cafe/breakfast restaurant. Plus, the coffee is great :) so its a win win for me.
Great food, grumpy service. Maybe she was having a bad day. Will definitely try again.
Best vegan breakfast sandwich I ve ever had. The breakfast club is a must try!
Making great veg/vegan meals since before it was cool!
Great vegan food with creative combinations and a cool vibe.
Excellent breakfast sandwiches. Very clean place. No gum under any tables I looked under every single one. No gum stuck to the walls, no gum wrappers in the garbage in the bathroom. No gum anywhere.
A favorite. Super friendly staff. Great food. Tons of vegan options.
The savoury rolls are amazing
Nice clean tasting food. I got the soup which was fresh & my bf got the angry vegan which he devoured. Service was nice & friendly just a bit long to get food on a Sunday morning but that s to be expected.
Vegetarian options: everything is vegan!
Im a vegetarian so I was glad that I found this place! I have a lot of things to try on their menu. I had big bang with soup and steamer drink. I enjoyed the big bang but didnt enjoy the soup. Will try something else next time!
I love pyrus! They always have such great food and drinks. Its a fantastic place to get some work done and/or catch up with friends or family, or even take your date! They have some of the coolest events all year long and have amazing artwork. Pyrus is also really inclusive, it is 100% a safe space for anyone to be.
I got the bean burrito oh man! SO good! Really fresh. Vegetarian options: Everything is vegetarian Dietary restrictions: They also have gluten free and vegan options Parking: Parking lot right behind the building. Kid-friendliness: They have highchairs and in the washroom they have a change table. Wheelchair accessibility: Push button for the doors. Plenty of space to move in a wheelchair and an accessible washroom.
Very friendly staff and the chick pea melt was amazing. Best breakfast around!
The coffee is good, always seems to take a while to actually get your order however
Im so excited that Cafe Pyrus now have a location set up within the main branch of the Kitchener Public Library! The owner and barista are so kind and friendly. The cinnamon buns are to die for and the pumpkin spice latte will give Starbucks a run for their money in my opinion. Welcome to the library!
Sweet menu... Efficient staff!!!
Really nice brewed coffee
Great coffee. Great ambiance. Food is good. Very tidy appearance. They have Vegan and Gluten Free items on their menu as well.
Great vegan or vegetarian food, good prices and friendly staff. My favorite breakfast or lunch place!
Lovely cafe with a good atmosphere, lots of cool local art available on the walls and the staff are always friendly. Food is excellent even if you arent vegan and the coffee is great!
Awful. I like coffee, and was willing to try this one. The attendant is very rude and sounds like she hates life. I hope I got they in a bad day. Well, half of the coffee menu they actually dont serve because there is no filters for pour over and aero press. Asking for what kind of coffee is used for the espresso was like a sin from my end. I went for the drip coffee because if asking about the espresso was such a pain, I cant imagine how could it be to actually asking for making the espresso. The drip coffee is basically Tim Hortons spiced with the attendant bad attitude.
A good spot to spend a weekend afternoon. A huge menu selection and great staff. It was tricky to find seating because a lot of people were there alone with their laptops but were taking up tables that could seat 4 people. They also sell lots of cool art and stickers and pins to support local artists which is an added bonus.
The angry vegan is my favourite sandwich and the kaleslaw is always delicious. Their lattes are pretty good too. Parking: I typically find parking on King street in front of the bank (next building over from the cafe)
Enjoyed lunch today and tried something new. Very happy with the Big Bang(fried tofu with hot sauce) sandwich, with kale slaw and soup. I am very a much a meat eater but when eating at Pyrus ,I do not feel I am missing out on meat. I know everything is made in house and it shows it taste and quality. Front of house service friendly as usual I have been a customer for years but have not reviewed in sometime. New location is very nice as well.
Turns out they are not pirates! But vegans! Im down for it, I love there food!
Delicious baked goods. Cinnamon bun was amazing!
I just tried the coffee and cookies but it was great. The sun in the afternoon adds a warm atmosphere to the environment. We had a very nice time with our friends and we did not even understand how it went.
This is the perfect spot for food and drinks for vegans! Their lattes are always a go to because their coffee bean is delicious. The space is big and open with plenty of seating.
Delicious but pricey Great veg options
I go to Cafe Pyrus all the time. The staff are always friendly, the food is great, and its a great spot to set up and work for a few hours. Love this place!
Making tasty veggie and vegan sandwiches is not an easy thing to do well but this place pulls it off. Loved the angry vegan and the fried tofu sandwich! Theres a cool vibe inside with local digital art
Absolutely love Cafe Pyrus Cafe Pyrus is one of my favourite small businesses in K/W. Their food is amazing, even for someone who not vegan or vegetarian. I love the options you are given here. Food/Drinks The entire food menu can be made gluten free for $1 or if you re not feeling a side you subtract $2 from your total. I believe any sandwich can be made into a wrap as well. My favourite is the Angry Vegan with a soup. (My favourite soup is the tomato, but the lime, and pumpkin were great!) Their desserts are also great. I have had the peanut butter cup, which was good, but very melty in the hands. The nanaimo was also great and a little less melty. The drinks! I am not a coffee lover, but their lavender iced latte was delicious! My favourite drink is the Foggy London Town. (Lavender syrup, steamed milk, and earl grey) I have tried many drinks here and you can t go wrong. Cafe/Vibe The cafe is an excellent place to sit and study/work. Their is a water pitcher with cups to grab yourself, which I love because I don t have to feel bad asking for a bunch of water. It is currently covered in Christmas decor, which is really getting me in the Christmas spirit. I also noticed coming here that they do art features, I ve seen @arcasian__ and now they re doing one of my classmates, @partypoisioner! I love the local representation. For music, expect indie-pop, alternative. Great vibes, not too loud and great to keep a conversation with someone. (Shoutout to the person who played Midnight Rain!) There is street parking, but if you re planning on staying, there is Mon-Fri 8am-5pm parking for $2.24 an hour (rough estimate) All in all, Cafe Pyrus is a must visit and I wish I lived much closer so I could be a regular. Thank you to all the kind staff and great food here! Dietary restrictions: Gluten-Free Dairy Alternatives Parking: Behind cafe, $2.24/hr Monday-Friday Kid-friendliness: Calm vibes, not super overstimulating for children. Bring a board game to play! Wheelchair accessibility: Lineups and bathroom are wide enough.
I was on the way to catch a train and I stumbled upon this gem I had no idea it was all vegan and to my pleasant surprise my jaw was on the floor and it absolutely delivered great tasting food great service and great atmosphere as well
Loved the food and great quality ingredients. I m not vegan nor vegetarian but I will be back again because it was fabulous
Nice place to spend time, drink coffee, and have a snack, nice staff, But unfortunately everything I tried whether it was cookies or croissants had a huge amount of sugar in it. I wish they would reduce the amount of sugar in the pastries.
Fantastic place to get coffee, baked goods and/or lunch! I am never disappointed with the quality of the food or the kindness of the staff. As a vegan who finds it hard to locate breakfast options this place is wonderful and there is so much to choose from!
The barista was very unenthusiastic Coffee tasted like toilet water The only saving grace the place looks good enough... Food : 1/5
Always excellent -- we look forward to the Big Bang every time we are in town!
