14 Bd des Champs-Fleuris, La Prairie, QC J5R 5W4, Canada
It was our first time ,great ambience, amazing food, we had dal tarka , veg biryani, chapati and the garlic kulcha was the best 😊😊
Very good service and food , I would have taken a tiny bit spicier and less sweet but that is my own preference 😊
The place is small but welcoming and convivial , a bit expensive but its normal as they use only the highest quality spices and ingredients. Their food is truly authentic and delicious. The portions are generous and the employees are kind and polite .their mulligatawny soup is my favorite comfort food ever and I always get it when I'm sick or need an energy boost. Thank you so much!
I recently visited Montreal and stumbled upon this gem by accident and I’m so glad I did. The food was so delicious and I’m so sad the restaurant isn’t closer to where I live so I can order regularly. The butter chicken was the best I’ve ever had and the naan was so warm and soft. Honestly, I was so stuffed from the portions but I ended up finishing everything because I felt terrible letting it go to waste especially knowing I wouldn’t be able to have it again (not until my next visit to Montreal, at least). Very well priced for the quality of food and the owner seemed like a wonderful man from the short conversation I had with him. If a Raj Mahal ever opens up in NYC I would be its most loyal customer.
Worst Indian food we ever had. We were okay to pay $50 for two bowl of rice and one one butter chicken, but quality was sooo bad. They likely don't have a proper cook. They mixed some scrambled eggs with rice and call it egg friedrice. Oh that butter chicken, it felt like it was made of low quality powder.
Disappointing at best. Overpriced and under cooked. Saag paneer had raw onions and half a tomato inside. When I called to complain I was told it was small pieces placed there for decoration. Seriously?? $6 for samosa that was mostly dough and most likely frozen and onion baji were very salty.
Very good indian food, best one on the south shore in my opinion. The naan bread and just the food in general is simply delicious! The service is also impeccable! My family and I's go-to restaurant! My favorite food items are probably the vegetable korma, the lentil lemon soup, the naan, the butter chicken and the lamb curry. But really... Everything is absolutely divine! Take out is great too :). I'm surprised i can't find any pictures aside from this take out one..
I've traveled extensively for my work over many years, yet I have never found any Indian restaurants nearly as good, anywhere in North America or Europe. While this may seem like a bold statement, you'll just have to taste for yourself. Bring your own wine and taste the deliciousness. Awesome for vegetarians and meat lovers alike.
The best Indian cuisine on the South Shore!!!
Really good I loved it
A really tiny restaurant with only four or five tables. The decor is really minimalist. The food is good, but its not the best Indian restaurant Ive eaten at.
Always so courteous service, very warm welcome! Delicious food! Flawless !
Excellent food and service
Food was delicious! Its a small spot with only 2-3 tables but the service was A1. Highly recommend.
Wow what a great discovery Very good restaurant The flavors are delicious we loved it
Good place in La Prairie for Indian cuisine. Generous portions, very good. The new location is less inviting to go to the dining room, but the take-out meals are generous and hot at very reasonable prices! Ive loved this place for years!! :D I ordered with 15 of my work colleagues for our Christmas dinner and everyone really liked it... everything was devoured!
The food is excellent and the service impeccable. Family business, owners involved and concerned about their customers; you can feel it! Thank you
Excellent Indian restaurant bring your own wine! The butter chicken was tender. The naan breads were divine. Generous portions and affordable price. The service was cordial! Vegetarian options: A complete section of the menu is vegetarian.
Ordered take out butter chicken , chana masala and rice great portions and the food was delicious ....thank you for having such a great cuisine on the south shore! Staff is very friendly always greet you with a smile, very polite.
They have the best somosas and bhajis! Excellent service.
Very good
Almost everything ordered was good but it tasted like leftovers from the day before. Also the naan bread tasted like it came from the grocery store which was the most disappointing.
If you are visiting or living in Quebec, you have to try Raj Mahal. Amazing food and Professional staff. I placed a large order and from that order all of it was great. Especially the mulligatawny soup, butter chicken, beef biryani, and Shahi Raj Fish which were amazing.
Do yourself a favor and visit this restaurant in the South Shore. The food is absolutely amazing everything we ordered was authentically South Asian, very flavourful and were in generous portions. The service is unmatched, the staff truly cares about your experience. Very hospitable and attentive. Definitely try their lamb biryani, onion bhajia and butter chicken. Very highly recommend.
Order on doordash. Excellent cuisine. I ordered the butter chicken with naam bread. It was huge. The sauce was smooth and creamy. Huge naam bread. It was almost a meal for 3 my story. For $45 its expensive at the time. But after seeing the condition of the plate and the taste. It was worth it. I have enough for two more meals. Thanks to you
Amazing taste and experience for fantastic Indian cuisine! Everything is fresh and with array of spices and flavour!
Weve been going there several times, takeout, extraordinarily good, really WOW, probably the best Indian restaurant on the south shore.
Best Indian food on the south shore. And great owners. Very nice and personable.
Great takeout for the south shore but a little overpriced, especially with rice not included with dishes.
$36 for 7 pieces of butter chicken, flatbread and a cup of rice... very good but the quantity was not there for the price.
Awesome restaurant, staff, food, have been going there fo 15 plus years, forgot to review, my bad. Love this authentic Indian food place, did I say it was awesome? Just is! Magical
Food is completely bland and very expensive! I can say the worst indian food Ive ever had...
Best butter chicken and homemade spicy paste! I drive from Ottawa to eat here
One of the Best Restaurants on the South Shore! Butter chicken 5/5, butter shrimp 5/5, local fish 5/5, appetizer 5/5, impeccable service.
I dont know which indian food is this. Its sweet and so spice less. Every gravy is sweet, lamb was hard to bite. I literally felt like vomiting.
The food is always made fresh. Amazing dishes, full of flavors. I recommend the lamb dishes. Overall, I highly recommend this place. It s a real joy to eat!
I got the butter chicken meal to go , everything was fresh and tasty. Will be coming back again. Hidden gem
The best Indian at south shore! Love their butter chicken and lassi mango
Love this place, it was great when they had the bigger dining room. But since COVID they moved and focused more on take-out. The food quality is great and they are not cheap on the quantity. Also, i find that they take a lot of care in packaging the order. Always in a cardboard box and anything saucy is well wrapped. They even offer to help bring your order to your car. My family always enjoys it. Regards, Kid-friendliness: Their new dining room is quite small and has no bathroom. Its better for take out.
Mind you Raj Mahal pivoted to an almost takeout-only restaurant, with only little place to dine-in, because of you-know-what-happenned-in-2020. But my girlfriend and I love their cooking so much that we often convert a night out into a coocooning evening bringing with one of their meals home. And counting for the fact that their special for two feeds us for dinner and the next days lunch the prices are really reasonable. The owners are very kind and hard working and I wish them the best with their business.
Delicious
Fantastic place and our kids loved it as well!
The service was good but unfortunately I had a bad experience with the food. a piece of metal was in my rice. far too expensive
Excellent service the food was incredible it was worth the price it was cooked with love
Friendly service. They have kept the same quality of food, although they have gone from a restaurant with service, to a restaurant mainly for orders. It should be noted that there are a few small tables for eating on site. The price is very reasonable for the quantity and quality of the food.
Hello, I am disappointed about the food that I received. We ordered butter chicken and a chicken tikka masala but the food did not have any taste and the portions were quite small for the price. But the takeout time was quite fast. All in all, if you want authentic Indian food with the spices and the flavor don t go here.
The food is great- much lighter than other places. It seems to be made with fresh and healthy ingredients and with very little oil. Highly recommend!
Not authentic Indian style, I wasnt satisfied may be the locals would, not sure
Delicious food, generous portions all at a very reasonable price. Excellent, fast service. My favorite Indian restaurant on the South Shore.
Food is good but very expensive compare to other Indian restaurants. Order 2 dish and expect 65 ~ 70$
Dining room now re-opened :)
Finally, I decided to go! I loved it! It has to be done again
Super delicious!
The butter chicken is light yellow colour and tastes like coconut, rather than the more traditional orange colour and expected flavour. The rest was alright.
Soooooo goooood!!! Best butter chicken and tikka mosala!!
Great customer service and the food was so good! Preparing the order was very quick! It was perfectly spicy and generous!
Amazing food and service, always a pleasure. My favorite indian restaurant by far.
Ordered multiple dishes to share. Very authentic, delicious, spicy.. Very kind and friendly. Will recommend and return.
Best Indian food.
Best indian resto in south shore. Absolutely delicious, not heavy like other spots
Very good Indian restaurant. The best in the area in my opinion!
I called ahead of time to order take out food. They were right on time. The quality of food was excellent and really hot. Really courteous service.
Delicious
The face of the person at the reception causes discomfort. Sad face, angry face, face on adrenaline, suspicious face, face of the one who wants to argue. face of the one who wants to have colossal money while being wary and wary of the one who comes simply to make a take-away order asking him to go laba, dont stay here (meaning hide yourself I have customers more paying than you) and finally the food is rich in fat
Iam an indian and i must say the food is disgusting. If you really think you are tasting indian food you are in deep halucination. The food colour used in the curries is way too much. The colour did not go even after washing my hand after 3 times. I must say The food is too expensive too which is not at all worth it.
Succulent typically Indian dishes. A true culinary journey with each visit. I highly recommend it.
I love this restaurant, which I discovered in recent months, with take-out orders. I was able to eat there yesterday and what a delight! We ate very, very well, the service was very good. Excellent! Here the Shahi Raj fish, which I will definitely eat again
Food is great, service is great, prices are as expected, and the owner is really nice. They dont have my favourite dish but they modified the menu to let me get something else that I like instead. Very accommodating. Will be our regular Indian spot!
My favorite restaurant.... Best Indian food Dont be fooled by the decor...its true that it should have been better for the food
The BEST Indian restaurant on the South Shore!!!
Just tried the shrimp tandoori and butter chicken. Simply amazing!!!! Undoubtedly best in town considering price and food quality. Highly recommended
Generous meal! Everything is delicious and tasty! Very difficult to stop tasting, even on a full stomach!! This is my favorite restaurant!! Impeccable service!! The food is fresh and tasty!!! Well done! I recommend this restaurant for a good meal with a taste of quality India!!
We are so fortunate to have this place just a few minutes drive away from home. Hospitable hosts, delicious dishes, beautiful presentation, wide menu list. I would continue to come back here..
You are in La Prairie. Your choices are either here or McDonalds. Im tired of Big Macs so came here. The service was much better than the drive-thru at McDonalds. I hate McDonalds.
I didnt have high expectations when I called for a pickup. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the dishes, the freshness and the taste of them! Starters all delicious and fresh. Main dishes, succulent and tender lamb! The butter chicken was very mild, emphasis on coconut+ not spicy, it was very good but the lamb was unbeatable. The naan bread is one of the best Ive ever eaten!!! If you like Indian dishes you will not be disappointed, I remember the word Freshness! Kind staff. Enjoy your food!
My family and I stumbled upon this little gem during our trip to Montreal, and it is by far one of the best servings of Indian cuisine I have ever tasted. The portion sizes are great and the presentation is neat. The most significant factor for this review is the taste, it is truly one the best I ve had after trying hundreds of Indian restaurants in Toronto, Ontario. Some of the items I ve had are: Tandoori shrimp, great recommend if you like tandoori. Veggie pakora, excellent with the white sauce. Chicken tikka kebab, kind of on the spicy side, I liked Mains Butter Chicken, exceptional taste, never had better which I was not expecting Achar Gusto, a must try for anyone who like likes pickled veggies but in this case its the meat. Also, I found out the establishment allows patrons to bring your own bottles.
Great South-Asian restaurant. The servers were very nice to us and the food was well made. I would definitely visit it again if Im in Montreal
Very attentive service but the value for money is not at all... its far from being as good as the restaurants in Montreal which are half the price. The samosa was very little spicy and lacked salt, the soup was raw. The butter chicken is too sweet, the peanut chicken was good. The naan bread is good too. Very interesting.
All the food is bland and tasteless. 1st and last time for us!
Nice indian restaurant with some fine dishes . Very polite staff , nice small indian restaurant
The restaurant is very cozy. following the precautions for COVID 19. very friendly service. when the restaurant getting busy with take out orders,if you dine in expect the food will be late.
Very very good service, welcoming staff. We had butter chicken, samosas, shrimp, beef and lamb. Everything was excellent. 5/5
Really good Indian restaurant, authentic, great quality of food. My husband and I are never disappointed!
The taste is average (not as authentic as other Indian restaurants recommended by Indian colleagues). The price is a little expensive.
Amazing customet service and food is in good portion and freshly made. Delicious cuisine and will definitely come back again
I stopped looking. Simply the best Indian restaurant on the South Shore.
Very very expensive. Food was not at all good. No taste at all. Vegetarian options are very low.
The restaurant is racist to Indian people, they look at the face before giving the table. We walk-in then reception said table is full, but when we called after leaving they said the table is reserved you can come..
Excellent.
Really good food, quiet relaxing atmosphere.
Delicious! Amazing food
Courteous and nice food. I found it too cold...
Bad service and bad manners.
Super good and very good service!!
The food here was so amazing that I can still taste it to this day. The butter chicken is to die for, I practically drank all the gravy. Whats great is they had a plate with all the appetizers on it and every single one was delicious to the tongue. Seriously I cannot recommend this place enough!
We went for a group outing and we were pleased with the experience! The staff was well mannered and polite. The food was really good. We ordered many things but the winners for me was chicken curry and mix veg. The ambience is good and it is a worthy indian place to try in the south shore. So go for it!
Great place for enjoying some nice Indian food. Their Nann bread is really nice (bit crispy on outside and soft inside) perfect texture. We enjoyed their veggie curry and Gulab jamun desert was best. Nice place for dinning with family and friends, friendly staff. Definitely recommend.
Beautiful place, dim lighting, soft music and very good.
Excellent food!!
I adore! The table dhôte satisfied us, generous portions (already looking forward to lunch!) and a nice variety to taste lots of dishes. The palak paneer (spinach and cheese) is delicious in my opinion :)
Great place & food around montreal! Must go place!
Food is excellent!!
Really excellent table dhôte. Butter chicken has a delicious coconut twist! Well come back :-)
Best butter chicken !!! Great authentic Indian food
Very good food and service. Good vegetarian choices.
Very good Indian cuisine
Delicious, quiet and its a BYOB
Excellent food good service service a little slow but Im sure Ill go back there
We left as there is no variety of food available and also owner become rude as we didnt order as he started saying rubbish thing cuisines was not accurate only aaloo n gobi
All I can say is Delicious!!!
Great and efficient service every time I go, take out is as good as dine-in. Very good food.
the food is great but i will NEVER go back to this restaurant again. I called at 530p for pick up and they advised me food would be ready at 7p. All their ads show 10% discount for pick up. I get to the restaurant and they advs me they no longer give discount for pick up. .once i paid i noticed that i was over charged. At 745p order was still not ready, i asked for a refund of my $238 order and they refused! I finally got my food 1hr later then they advised it would be ready. On my way home the restaurant calls me that they gave me the wrong order. I went back to the restaurant and had to wait again! I finally received my order 1h30 after the original time they told me my order would be ready. HORRIBLE SERVICE never again. I will support other local restaurants in this time just not this one unfortunately.
Good food and good service. We were pleased !
Really enjoyed the food and amazing service. Excellent selection of different Indian cuisines.
The food is great, nice atmosphere and staff! Definitely a hidden gem in the south shore.
Great service! Quick and reliable, food was delicious.
Great service and great quality food. Would highly recommend to everyone!
Excellent Indian restaurant on the south bank. The naan bread, onion bhajia and vegetable samosa are excellent. The butter chicken is also a must.
Excellent service and delicious meal. The butter chicken is thrown on the floor :)
Nice delicious food & welcoming staff!
Take out order. Tandoori chicken very very very dry as well as the reheated kebads very disappointed. Very very very dry naan bread I make the best. Go to Bombay on Jean Talon Street West in Montreal and the difference in quality at home is incredible. I will never go to your house again. I dont eat very dry reheated ones.
Expectations were high based on previous reviews. Unfortunately I must admit that I was very disappointed. In a few words, for prices of the level of the Gandhi restaurant in the old port, we had a fast food quality Indian meal. The base was not of good quality. With only one exception, the beef, lamb and chicken were dry - I suspect they were frozen. Even the vegetables in the Aloo Gobi dish tasted old and frozen. The Sheek Kababs were dry and tough, the Onion Bhajia was mushy and not fully cooked. In short, far from the expected experience. The only meat that was juicy and flavorful was the Tandoori Chicken. It was even tasty and nicely spiced, which I cant say about the other dishes. In terms of spices, everything, with the exception of the Tandoori chicken, is bland. We ordered a lamb curry which suffered badly - the lamb was so dry and lacking in seasoning that it was indistinguishable from beef... Did I already say no spices? We are very far from tasting India in these dishes, it feels more like we are in a hospital. There are few good Indian restaurants on the South Shore, but the Raj Mahal is not among them. The Moghel Tandoori in St-Lambert is much superior in terms of value for money than this establishment. Why 1 star? The dishes are not good but they are not terrible either, no one will leave sick from a meal there. Im giving it one star because of the significant discrepancy between the quality of the food and its cost.
One of the best Indian restaurants on the south shore. Everything is bursting with authentic Indian flavour. Great service as well. Highly recommend the butter chicken and naan bread. Exceeded all my expectations, will definitely be ordering from here again!
My experience at Restaurant Raj Mahal was amazing. From the service to the food, everything couldn t have been more perfect. I strongly recommend anyone who is looking for authentic Indian cuisine to come visit!
If you are looking for authentic food, look no further. Tender meat, everything is properly seasoned. Nothing in my order was bland. Service and food exceeded all expectation I had. Will definitely be recommending this place to my friends whenever they visit the south shore.
I ate at this restaurant yesterday with my family. I would just like to say that the food and the service at this restaurant is impeccable. Over the 100+ Indian restaurants I have ate at, this one is by far the best. The taandori chicken is my favorite as its fresh, juicy, and spicy. The quality of all the other food in general is top notch. Service was just as good as the food. The waiters were friendly and food was served very fast. Overall, I would rate Raj Mahal 10/10, amazing restaurant. I am for sure going to be a regular from now on. Highly recommend for everyone.
Good food and very fast service for a very good price. It has a very warm/cozy vibe. The flavours in all of their menu s is simply astonishing
I have been a regular customer at Raj Mahal for many many years now and they have never once failed to satisfy me every time! It is the most authentic and deliciously flavourful Indian restaurant in the South Shore that I have never looked back at any other Indian Restaurant in the Montreal/South Shore area. Each dish is always freshly cooked and has a distinct unique taste that you ll always crave for more. I ve tried many items on the menu and they all deserve a 10/10. The naan bread is also very good here as it is always fresh and very tasty. Along with its the amazing food, the service is just as excellent and they re bilingual too! If you are ever looking for an Indian restaurant to eat at, Raj Mahal must be your first pick!
One of the best Indian cuisines by far, highly recommend to everyone who enjoys authentic indian food. The staff and ambiance of the restaurant exceeded my expectations and food is always served fresh and tasty. This is my go-to indian dine-in as well as takeout food. Deserves a 10/10!
Tried this restaurant for the first time last week, absolutely delicious! Glad they are still open for takeout!
Great food!
Supporting this outstanding place in the South shore in these difficult economic times (damn Covid!). Whether Tandoori chicken or curries or biryanis, or nans or Mulligatawny soup, food has been without exception FANTASTIC!! The friendly staff makes it a pleasure to interact. Lets support them during covid so we continue to have this restaurant when were out of this health mess. Kuddos to the Raj Mahal bunch!! :D
Excellent food, good service, I will definitely go back
Excellent service!
Delicious! best Indian cuisine in the greater Montreal area!
Ive ordered from this restaurant a dozen times over the last few years and every time the food has been perfect.
Food is very good. Service is excellent. I would eat there every week.
Always delicious!!! An unpretentious Indian! The samosas are divine!
Very nice place, very good.
Grear food,friendly staff
Excellent Indian restaurant!
Good but expensive
Delicious and varied dishes at relatively affordable prices. Very welcoming and friendly staff.
For 30 years, we have done them all, Montreal, South Shore and in all the cities we go to. Everything is fresh, delicious and if you like spicy, there is something to enjoy. On the other hand, we never really got used to Indian desserts. The lunch is cafeteria style, the experience is less interesting. You have to go there in the evening.
Great service, big portion, good price.
Food was very good. Service was excellent. Had the onion baji, veggie samosas, butter chicken and beef Madras. Everything was excellent! Btw, when they say something is spicy, they mean it.
I love eating at this place. The menu for two is fabulous.
Delicious!
Good
BEST BUTTER CHICKEN!
Good service and nice atmosphere. The food was flavourful but it is a bit expensive for what is it.
Succulent
Excellent service, excellent food,
Very good
Excellent service and food. The atmosphere is very nice, would recommend this place to everyone!
Very ordinary service
Beautiful Indian place in the heart of the South Bank
Unique indian food
Fantastic! Truly authentic and tasty Indian cuisine! The table dhôte is worth it. Absolutely excellent I highly recommend
My favorite restaurant. A wealth of La Prairie.
Very good
Excellent food, top quality, always fresh, perfect service. This is a restaurant to discover on the South Shore
Excellent Bring your own wine restaurant
Super good!
First experience in this establishment. The dining room is well appointed and clean. The background music is at a pleasant volume. The menu is comprehensive and includes a good choice of vegetarian dishes. The food is excellent and in sufficient quantity. Prices are average without being too expensive. I loved the experience and we will come back!
Best food. Little carbs, just food
Best Indian restaurant on the South Shore... Incredible food and delicate service.
Nice and kinda staff. Bilingual owner. Taste is unmatched. A gem on the South shore. Lunch menu is great.
Excellent Indian restaurant, and whats more, bring your wine, affordable and badji onions....
I am extremely satisfied with my dining experience. The employees were very friendly and bilingual. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. The food was very tasty. The Naan bread was delicious (fresh) and the butter chicken was flavorful and tender. The prices and portions are reasonable. I also like how you can bring your own wine. Overall, the service exceeded my expectations. The food presentation is lovely. All in all, I really enjoyed the ambiance. I highly recommend this place. I will definitely be back!
Always excellent as usual
Best South Shore Indian Food wow
Like all small Indian restaurants, excellent food, very affordable and you bring your own wine.
Slow service. Not very tasty food compared to other Indians. $175 for 4 people is a lot to pay for what we got!
