I am extremely disappointed with the food. I came home all excited to enjoy some sushi rolls with my daughter, only to be absolutely disgusted to the point where I had to spit it out; I couldn t even choke it down. The rolls were warm (as if they had been in a warmer), clearly too much vinegar was used when making the rice because it was super noticeable, and the amount of Avocado they crammed into the rolls was more than a little much. It was a mouthful of WARM MUSH that had been doused in vinegar. I ve never experienced bad sushi in my life, I didn t know it was possible - but I just wasted $60 on 4 rolls of whatever that was. Maybe they need a new sushi chef?

It absolutely baffles me when I see this restaurant with nobody in it. Its great! Weve been there three times now in almost as many weeks, The waitresses are pleasant and nice. The drinks are cold., and the food fresh. Now I must say I saee skip drivers coming and going almost every ten minutes but WHY eat in nobody there? Great place with a fireplace and all. Now the front room kinda sucks as you have peoples headlights in your face all the time but the back room is awesome and we always request the back room. Anyway please try! Support this business and go...go eat in! get the hell outta the house.

I was passing through Langford, had a craving for Sushi. Never been to Akemi before. Beyond pleasantly surprised. One gets nervous when you walk into a restaurant and its bereft of other guests. But I am happy to report, my skepticism was misplaced. Akemi sushi was outstanding, extremely sweet staff that were attentive but not overbearing. I ordered spicy salmon rolls (6 pieces) and my wife ordered tuna sashimi, mine was fresh and the pieces of salmon were very generous! My wife reported that her tuna slices were thick and very very fresh, without that partially frozen food taste you get with sashimi at some places. The cost was as expected for sushi, average meal for two will cost around $55.00 after tip and tax, you can get better value elsewhere but not with this level of freshness. I cant give a fair rating for atmosphere as the restaurant was empty while we were there, but the decor was tastefully minimal, yet still welcoming especially when combined with friendly staff. Well done Akemi! Keep it up!

I have been going to Akemi since they had their previous establishment. I like the food, the people and the location, parking isnt always available out front but its a small mall complex Prices everywhere are going up so I cant blame Akemi for doing the same. I have never had bad food or bad service and know all of the service staff by name. My only negative is the condition of the mens washroom but that is a problem for the landlord.

Its cheap for a reason, dont waste your money.

Very good sushi

The food is fine. However if you order through Skip the Dishes and want a bento box. Youll pay more and receive less than ordering directly off their menu and going to get it yourself. If you order off Skip you wont get the tempura and the cali rolls that usually come with a bento box. Bit of a scam there Id say.

We came with five persons three adults and two hungry teenagers. The restaurant is fairly large but our service was friendly and quick. We sampled sashimi, miso, rolls, chicken karage, chicken teriyaki and veggie tempura The food was extremely tasty Parking: Large strip mall with lots of spaces

Ordered the salmon and tuna don and tonkatsu don. The salmon and tuna don was a little disappointing, I would not recommend it. But the tonkatsu was absolutely delicious! The place was cozy and nice, service was very good as well.

Can only speak to what I had which is the tonkatsu Don and that was amazing!

Best baked oysters I have ever had! This restaurant had authentic Japanese cuisine in a relaxed and comfortable setting. I would go again just for those baked oysters!!

This is one of my most favorite Japanese food restaurant always fresh and tempra is always hot.

Finally I have tasted good sushi after years! Loved that. Only negative comment I have is on indoor decor. It looked gloomy. Perhaps if the fireplace was kindled, it would feel cosier.

Food was wonderful except the really vinegary salad. I cant recall the name but it was like having straight vinegar out of the bottle. Talking to friends later we learned it was not supposed to be that way.

I keep coming back to my favourites: the teriyaki beef bento box and the rainbow roll (made with real crab, roe, cucumber, salmon, tuna, snapper and surf clam). The steak sauce is delicious too, so get it on the side for your rice! Everything Ive had here has been freshly made and delicious.

Not a bad place for Friday night, flavours are a bit basic. Miso soup is extra, never seen that before.

Take out order from Akemi Sushi wasn t that great. The rolls 5 of them was tiny and seem like what you would pick up at the Grocery store counter.

Great experience. Staff were friendly and on point. Had the Katsu Don Donburi and it was delicious. Didnt have any rolls, but looking forward to coming back again soon!

We are regulars and our yam / avo rolls and veg tempura never disappoint. They wait to fry the tempura until you arrive so it s always fresh. Yum!

Worse than grocery store sushi and much more expensive. We ordered a BC Cone and it was not worth almost 7 dollars. It was small, anemic, and not flavourful. Takoyaki was undercooked. We also ordered two Maki rolls, and they were not good. Honestly surprised that this place has such good reviews.

They had a few excellent veggie dishes and they checked to make sure it was vegan for us! Amazing yam rolls! I just wish some menu things were labelled vegan to make it easier and not having to ask them so many questions. Super nice staff!

First time having sushi since I moved to VanIsle. The husband and I went on Wednesday, August 11th and our server, Lok, was amazing. The food was plated tastefully and it was a very pleasant experience! We kinda had little bits of everything... I ordered the Hosomaki Roll, Hotate Nigiri, Rock Yam Roll, Unagi Nigiri, and a Miso soup. He ordered both the Crab and Vegetable Gyoza and the Oyakokatsu (Chicken) Udon. All of it was delicious!

Staff is super friendly, and the food delicious. On the pricier end for sushi in the area, but the quality of the food justifies the cost. The atmosphere is really nice.

It sure seems like restaurants have new menus with price increases. 3rd one for me since reopening. We had lunch here, the deluxe Bento box $17. Right $17 for lunch and the regular $13. They were terrific, very fresh and tasty and not many tables in the place. The vivid deal is just beating everybody up. Too bad.

I had business and time constraints the day I visited Akemi Sushi for lunch. I was able to place a takeout order from their beautiful menu and was not disappointed in presentation or flavour. The restaurant itself was at seating capacity which staff was polite in their disclosure. My intention was for takeout anyway. They are slightly higher priced, but worth paying the extra for quality. They only use real fish for their product. No imitation crab. Sockeye salmon, ahi or Blue fin tuna, the quality is worth the extra money! A popular hidden gem, I recommend calling in advance for a restaurant seat or be prepared to wait. Same if you want takeout. They are decidedly worth the wait.

Always great service and great food. Staff are very friendly, and also really great with kids. Lucky to have such a solid Sushi place so close to home; and yes, their steak sauce is good!

We dined in here and found the staff to be really friendly. They are also well setup for COVID-19 health measures: the restaurant is spacious with high ceilings. Real Crab Nigiri sushi is a must try, along with their Ika Karaage.

Speedy service, staff were friendly, food was good. A little expensive for the portions you get.

I never like when the menus dont have whats inside the rolls .. only because lots of places do it a little different or I forget..also helps to try new things also... I also dont like asking and the server doesnt know whats inside..when I served I learned the menu. Besides that its not to bad. . had to ask 3 times for roe though maybe they didnt know what roe is... But they have deep fried banana thats amazing.

Definitely not quality food or service, not sure where that the idea this us edible could ever stem from. No matter dont order delivery..it comes with spit, and the oysters are filled with plastic bag shreds!
