Love the small library feeling. So sweet. Good for small to medium group gathering. Up to 40 people I feel, or little bit over. Ordered buffet diner.
2 patrons. One chicken honey sandwich. One adult mac and cheese. No beverages. Service was fast and friendly. It got very busy within minutes of arriving at 12:30pm. Good atmosphere - gets a bit loud when it's fully stacked with people and games going on but that's expected. Total bill $42 so it's restaurant prices and GOOD quality food. Will come back. Accessible friendly too, which is a bonus.
This place is a must try! Had the coffee brisket sandwich and the bennys for brunch. SOOO GOOOD and the fries are amazing with the seasoning they put in. The board game selection is huge and you’ll spend hours playing here with friends or family. The staff is really friendly and have great recommendations for both food and games. Definitely check out this place when swinging by Langley.
I had Chicken and waffles 👌🏼 However my friend had the poke bowl and the fish smelt off. They didn't eat it. The grilled cheese was not cheesy. More like bread with melted cheese on it. The Caesar drink was great. Tons of games. The staff is knowledgeable and kind. They helped us with the game rules. It's a fun night there.
Went here for a reunion with my old friends! We had lots of fun although I can't speak for their game selection because we only played uno for nostalgia sake. As for the food, I ordered two dishes because half of my dish was good and the other half was disappointing. I started off with the Vegan Spicy Poke Bowl which was pretty decent but the rice was cold and tasted like it was old, hence, the clumps. It also could've used a sauce to bring everything together. So, I ordered another dish to compensate as I was still hungry. The Vegan Crossed The Road burger was the highlight of my meal! I wish it had more vegetables but other than that I could not complain because I would come back just for that burger alone. It converted me into loving pickles, specifically bread and butter ones. Also, I do not recommend their tomato soup. It tasted very smoky. If someone gave it to me without telling me what it was, I wouldn't have guessed it was tomato soup if it wasn't for the colour. I wish it was more bright and creamy and had herbs. The service was average. Funnily enough, the server thought I loved my food because I ordered more than once, despite the leftovers I didn't pack, which is unusual for me.
TLDR: Fun concept! But they have hidden charges, badly made and overpriced cocktails, and food is hit or miss. I have had way better experiences at other board game cafes. 💸💸💸 I was very excited to visit this unique local business and check out thier restaurant concept combined with board games but unfortunately several issues made my experience fall short. First of all, I did like the fact that there was someone to greet you at the front of the store and help you pick out games so that you could have a more catered experience, I would have liked to be able to browse the games to try myself but it's understandable that you must have an employee grab them for you. When it came to the restaurant side however, there were several red flags🚩🚩🚩. I had high expectations due to the local sourcing of ingredients and the fancy sounding menu but the water buffalo burger I got had a pitch black patty and was so dry and smoky that it just tasted burnt. My drink, the Villanous Peach was horribly made and had 4 little ice cubes floating in a giant glass of mixer, overly sweet and unbalanced. For $15 this cocktail tasted worse than something I could get at a dive bar. Speaking of cost, my server charged me $1.50 when I asked for mayo, which isn't a problem, but he never informed me that the mayo was going to be a charge until I got my bill. Had I have known, I probably would not have gotten it. I will say others in my party had better luck with the cookies and cream milkshake and chicken and waffles. Although the shake was smaller than expected for $9. Lastly, my partner found a small glass shard floating in his beer glass and unfortuantely our server never came by to check on how our drinks were going, so all these details were missed. Don't think I will be going back here when there are other similar businesses that can offer a better experience. 😕
Such a good time. If you like board games and you like great food (like who doesn't?) This is the place to go. The staff are great, the service is great, and the boardgame selection is massive. They have damn near every boardgame you could possibly want to play. Kid friendly and adult friendly, you can even come to just play the games for a fee. I would suggest you book a reservation as it's consistently busy. Oh, and you can also purchase a board game on your way out. Highly recommended!!
Finally made it to this local eatery..and we had a really good time. Great atmosphere for families. The food we ordered was amazing, and the service was excellent. We ordered the Hot honey fried chicken on waffles and the tofu avocado hash from the lunch menu.
We had a really great time here, there was a decent amount of games to choose from, but Id say they could add more. The food was great, it was busy so the service wasnt great but thats too be expected. We will visit again! I particularly liked the platter of warm chocolate chip cookies.
A nice variety of games, good prices, and really nice staff!
The food and atmosphere is good. The reason I want to highlight this 5 star review is because of the staff and how they made my groups experience good. The day before we came, I made a reservation by phone and gave my information for the reservation. The evening came for the reservation and when my wife and I arrived, they had no records of my reservation. We have another couple joining us and I was embarrassed at the idea we would have to go elsewhere. I mentioned the name of the person I spoke to on the phone and explained that I did make a reservation. The staff member asked me to wait a moment and went to the back and speak to another staff. Eventually he came back and said he would fix the error as the other staff member remembered the phone call. The shuffled things around and found us a place. I appreciate the transparency and willingness to rectify the error. My group had an awesome time and we will be back. Parking: Very limited parking. Not great for trucks.
Most entertaining spot in Langley. The staff are super kind and treat regulars amazingly. Keep up the good work!
Kid-friendliness: Its nice they have a kids menu Food
There are so many board games to choose from. The food is good and the staff is super helpful. It might get loud. theres a ton of tables. Theres a private room as well, but I havent booked it :)
Board games and food. Cant go wrong.
Its a good idea to book and arrive on time. Very good for spending time playing with friends and family. Good food, nothing exceptional, but adequate. Good service. Beer options too. The place is relatively small, but pleasant. It can get noisy if the games get exciting. Kid-friendliness: The times I went, I didnt see children, but there must be games for them.
Update in response to owner: Hi Ken! Im sorry if the review was perceived as a negative. I removed one star because of the reasons in the first paragraph below about the menu design and food I was given that day (if it has since been updated, feel free to disregard the feedback). But otherwise, this has always been a great place! ---------------------------------------------------- A vegan menu was available on their website, but not in-store. The in-store menu instead has a symbol for vegan items in the legend at the bottom, but the symbol does not appear beside any items on the menu. I asked which items could be prepared vegan, and they were able to list a few items on the menu (no vegan symbol beside them, but it made sense the listed meals could easily be prepared in a vegan way). So, in the end they can prepare vegan options, its just poorly indicated. Be sure to ask. The food was restaurant-average overall, but tasted good. Just dont expect your taste buds to be blown away. Relaxed atmosphere. Basically, a card/board game shop with a restaurant inside. You can try out their large selection of games that they also sell in the store side. Pleasant staff, and did I say games? Food? Winning combination! Vegetarian options: There is a cruelty-free menu on the website. Or ask in-store.
Been coming here since 2019. Never had a bad meal or experience at this place. Recently came back to take a colleague of mine to lunch. Parking: Depending on time of day, parking can be a challenge.
I love this place a lot. But i booked a reservation 5 days in advance and I wasn t given the table i asked for. I understand it can be busy but I don t understand why the reservation after us got a booth and not us. I don t know how their system works but everything else went perfectly fine. The food was good and the board games are really fun. Just wish next time i can get the table I reserved 5 days in advance. It was the only reason I booked quite early.
Wheres the beef? It was our first time here, we had heard the reviews were phenomenal, so we tried it. We ordered the draft Burger with Cheddar and Chipotle Mayo. The order came out, Ive not seen a tiny burger like that in forever. The patty was about 2 ounces, the fries were cold. I split the burger with my wife. There were no tomatoes, no onions, no red peppers. All we asked the server to eliminate was ketchup, but they eliminated just about everything else.My half of the burger had no gristle, her half was only gristle. We let our server Dilon know. Now its was not Dilons fault, I blame the cook. All that The Raving Gamer did was to take off 25% of the add on. How about making another edible burger, did you ever think of that, evidently not! We tried it and were extremely disappointed. My 9 year old grandchild can cook better food!
Good food, great service and lots of games Dietary restrictions: Celiac Food : 4/5 |
A great place to hang out with the guys! Food was fantastic!!
Spent a nice rainy day in here and enjoyed the environment. Played some board games and had the tomato soup + chai latte. Tomato soup was good, chai latte couldve used a bit more sweetness. Great staff, friendly environment, highly recommend.
This place is amazing! There tables are big enough to play a big board game and eat at the same time. You can grab one of the available games, bring your own, or even purchase one on the spot. The food was delicious and the staff super friendly! I wish there was a way to leave toys on the machine though, add it want an option and I had to ask my brother to leave cash. I dont carry any, ever lol Will definitely go back soon! Great for the whole family. Vegetarian options: Vegan options also available!
Because its a small venue, when it is busy. It can get loud and harder to hear. That doesnt deter me. Its a great place with great food and definitely worth it
Very cute little board game cafe :) good selection of games and tasty food. Would recommend making a reservation if youre looking for a slightly larger table! Dietary restrictions: Had great gluten free options for my partner who has celiacs. They have a dedicated gluten free frier!
Great date night spot, try a new game, have a good laugh, enjoy some good food and drinks. Whats not to like.
This place is such great value. Huge selection of games to buy and play at the table. Tables are large, and the food is priced well considering it supports local businesses and youd pay that much for food if you went to any other restaurant anyways. Reservations are a must for peak times.
A fun place if you are with a few friends who like to play board games and drink. The food is decent but the service is lacking a bit. It seems like everyone who works there is very mellowed out. Overall it s a nice place to have a conversation and a few laughs.
We love bringing the kids here. Limited seats so definitely recommend making a reservation of its a weekend especially.
Surprised me actually. Very busy and not geeky at all. Great beers and food
Love this place I have been 4 or 5 times, and it never disappoints. Brought family that are not even into board games, and they enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
Really great experience! Tons of board games to choose from while waiting and eating! We played Concepts which was a lot of fun!
We went for the first time and were so impressed! We didnt do a reservation on a Friday night and they were able to fit us in which was awesome. For introverts that dont like calling to book a reservation, they have an online option through their website! They have every board game you can think of and more, organized by game type, difficulty, number of players, etc. which is so helpful. Theyve also got brand new games you can purchase to take home. They have recommendations for beginners and while their game collection is huge, it didnt feel intimidating on what to choose. We got some great suggestions on what to try and Im excited to try some new ones next time. Even if you dont play board games much, they have a great assortment of games you can easily play with little ones - we saw lots of young families there which was fun to see! Every item on the menu is locally sourced (like legit, all local businesses) with affordable prices and shareable options. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially with deciding what games to try. The food tasted amazing. They have an option to pay a fee if you dont want to buy any food/drink but want to use the games which I thought was a cool way to do it. We will definitely be going again soon, I highly recommend it! Vegetarian options: They have a variety of vegetarian alternatives available Dietary restrictions: They have various dietary options for a lot of their dishes, but as theyre a smaller restaurant, they probably cant guarantee zero risk of cross-contamination for people who are celiac. My husband and I are GF and liked all of the options we had. Kid-friendliness: They have lots of games made for kids to play as well as easy group games they can enjoy.
Brisket sandwich was average. Didn t taste like brisket as it was pulled. Could have been any kind of beef. It was pretty tough to bite thru considering it was pulled. Not a ton of flavour. Seasoned fries were sub par. They were very dark and hard. Like they had been fried already and then fried again before serving. Wife had a chicken teriyaki bowl. Chicken was burnt tasting. Games were fun. Server was good. Dietary restrictions: Gluten friendly
Great place great atmosphere good selection of games to play and some to purchase Food is a little over priced.
A Perfect Fusion of Fantastic Food, Fun, and Outstanding Service! I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Raving Gamer Bistro and I cant stop raving about the experience! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, with the unique twist of having board games available for every table. It s the perfect spot to enjoy a meal while engaging in some friendly competition. But the real star of the evening was our server, Randy. He was an absolute delight! Randy had an infectious enthusiasm that made our experience truly special. He was attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and had fantastic recommendations. Whether we were debating over which game to play or what dish to try, Randy was there with a smile and a helpful suggestion. The food was exceptional every dish was a burst of flavor, beautifully presented, and cooked to perfection. The variety of options catered to every palate, making it easy for our group to find something we loved. Paired with a few rounds of some fun games, it made for an unforgettable evening. If youre looking for a place with amazing food, a fun and relaxed atmosphere, and service that goes above and beyond, The Raving Gamer is the place to be. And if youre lucky enough to have Randy as your server, youre in for a treat! We cant wait to return for another round of great food, fun games, and fantastic service. Highly recommended!
Good selection of games, and the gluten free options were great!
Food was okay, nothing to write home about & not overly expensive, nice place to chill & play games, Randy was a great server :)
Loved how the server paid attention to us and when I made eye contact came right over! Kid-friendliness: Lots of kids games. Wheelchair accessibility: 100%. Flat entry, room to manouver in restaurant and bathroom.
Pretty good, wide selection of games. Food was decent, the drinks where extremely watered down and not worth the money
Great food, fun games. Perfect way to spend an afternoon.
Had good time with family playing games and celebrating birthdays 1st time since renovations, very limited menue and a bit over priced. Staff were friendly Parking lot is small , hard to get a wheelchair/handicap spot for My dad ( 83 years)
We were surprised that the food was so good! The staff was very kind and we loved playing games! I highly recommend it :) Vegetarian options: Many vegan options available
There were couples, groups of four and families with children and everyone was having fun as they played a wide selection of games. Staff were knowledgeable and friendly without interrupting our game. We enjoyed tasty steak frite, burgers, and warm cookies. There was a curated selection of local beers and wine. Free parking and spotless washrooms were a bonus!
Fantastic place to take the family, Great food and drinks as well!
Amazing food, absolutely great service and very friendly staff.
Used to go frequently for lunch, but havent lately due to my time management... Great tuna melt!
What fun! Pick a game, bring a game, or buy a game. Eat the best tastes, and play your game. Great serving sizes. Reasonable pricing. Excellent staff!
One of my favourite places in Langley
Was pleasantly surprised with how delicious the food was! I had the grilled cheese, and it is the best grilled cheese I ve ever had! I also tried their grogu matcha milkshake (limited time only for May the 4th weekend) and it was sooo good! I loved that my group and I were able to play board games before and during the meal! Such a fun atmosphere.
Lots great games and food was good too!
This was our first visit to this cool dineout/hangout spot in downtown Langley. Games of all kinds to play at your table, and the food! Every single bite of our meal was delectable. From the in-house smoked olives and lightly fried squid appies to my specialty cold smoked wildcaught salmon salad with fresh goat cheese from a local producer to my husbands salmon bowl, which he devoured, the food - and the incredible assortment of flavours and choices - came as a complete and welcome surprise. Add to that cheerful, responsive servers and helpful, welcoming, game-finding staff, the Raving Gamer hit our date night right out of the park. We will be back, and we will bring friends! Vegetarian options: Delicious vegetarian and vegan options in apples and mains.
Im inviting Dylan to my wedding. Hes dope.
One of the best meals my wife and I have had in ages! Great atmosphere, and a great selection of modern board games to try out Will for sure be back! Service and staff were also amazing
Clean interior. Good food slightly on the pricey side. Good selection of board games to choose from. Would definitely come back.
Seriously so much fun. Great food and better atmosphere.
Great place to have dinner and play a short game. Owners are happy to help teach you a game.
Creative menu, lots of GF options. Lovely atmosphere! I had the grilled cheese with a salad and was quite happy.
First time here. What a great concept and awesome way to try new games before purchasing. Greeted & had full details of how the space works immediately. The guy at the store was so kind. Ben was our server & we were treated very well! Only notable was the noise of everyone (it was a busy Saturday so this is expected) but the music did not balance for it. Will absolutely return again. Food was great! Very home-cooked feel. Had the beef burger ( BONETTIS BEEF!!) and a braised beef sandwich. Both great. Also tried both types of fries (regular and seasoned). Both were great, the spice of the fries were mild and addicting. Thank you everyone! Parking: Parking is in a business Center so it s likely busier on weekdays but weekends nothing really open so it s fair game. Was very busy Saturday AM but still saw ample spots available.
Great food and game selection
First time there. Food was amazing. Lots of games. Cant wait to come back!
Vegetarian options: Spicy tofu was so good! Food
Good food, good games and comfy chairs! The perfect place to have fun.
Interesting place, if you are bored with the usual eating place, this is the place to try. Tons of games to choose from to play. If you like the game you can buy it. 2 hours of tasting, sipping and playing a game we have never seen was a great experience. Build ur own burger and pesto mussels and prawns in spaghetti were the meals, and bumbleberry pie. Very good. Only drawback was our newbie server had to be asked for cutlery and napkins. (I think we each need them to eat properly). For appies, again with main meals and at dessert.
Fun place! Everything is local and food is really good too, the gnocchi was delicious, the buger was amazing, the honey hot chicken sandwich was amazing and seems the only place around that has really good chicken an waffles too. This place makes me want to get into board games. Highly recommend!
We had my teenage daughters birthday at the Raven gamer today. They were absolutely fantastic. The service was personable and kind and accommodating. Ben, our server was so helpful. They do have a dedicated party room which was lovely. Not huge but great size for a group of 10 to 12. The food was so yummy!. Goes beyond the basic party food. But the cost is still very reasonable. I would highly recommend this place for a birthday party. Thank you so much raving gamer, we made some good memories today.
Menu is amazingly delicious and well worth spending a long time eating and playing games. Best board game place with really good food Ive ever been to.
Raving Gamer Bistro is one of my favourite restaurants in Langley! They have gluten free options that taste amazing and a huge selection of board games to play while youre there. I also love that theres a retail selection so you can buy some games as well. Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free options
This place is amazing for having boardgames. A various selection of games there to play and to buy. Food is amazing. The quality worths the price. The quality of coffee is nice too, but I think they need a little bit more art for coffee.
Love this place! Ive been for brunch on two occasions, and had a thoroughly good time and good food both times. The menu is creative enough to be interesting but conventional enough to respect the pallette of most people. I and everyone whos joined me at the place has enjoyed their food. The selection of board games to play while you dine is great, and the staff is knowledgeable enough to make helpful suggestions. I actually purchased one of the games I tried, from the abundant choices for sale in the restaurant. Lots of good parking nearby, and easy access by car.
This is a great place to go to grab lunch or even a snack and play games with friends. My mother and I enjoyed coming here and playing battle ship while enjoying our food!
A fantastic restaurant with a big and alive atmosphere. The food was amazingly delicious and well served. I will be going back!
Tonnes of games to choose from, lovely staff, amazing food. It just needs to be a bit bigger. Otherwise, amazing. Will be coming back
The raving gamer bistro is truly a restaurant for all ages. I really enjoy the vibe and the food is quite good too. They keep a lot of their staple items the same which is nice when you are like me and enjoy eating the same thing every time you go to a restaurant. I played some games here as well, a friend of mine really got to into playing Azul so when I brought my friend here this past weekend she was also just as in love with the game as I was. This place is fun and I d recommend calling in for a reservation just to ensure you have a good seat.
Service was excellent, food good portions, unique and quite tasty. Will absolutely go back. My son was tickled.
Best chicken and waffles Ive ever tasted
Had lunch with my wife here, great food, awesome calm atmosphere where you can chill out and play a game. Had a great visit!
What a FUN place to dine! Lots of GF options (and dessert like fresh warm GF cookies) - and the food was great. They have loads of boardgames to pick from. Make a reservation because they are busy! We will be back for sure.
It s an oasis of flavour I was happy to discover during an obligatory trip to Langley. I ll be back!
Played a long dnd session on a Sunday morning till evening and they kept us fed, made sure our thirsts were quenched, and gave us a super hospitable place to be ourselves. 10/10 would recommend!!
Good game selection, good atmosphere and good prices.
Great Staff and help with games. The food was great but the small menu selection made picking easy.
My family and I frequently go here for brunch and to play a board game or two. Prices are super reasonable and I love their food sharing program! They prioritize getting and partnering with local bakeries and breweries. Staff is always super friendly and service is always fast. Wish they had more of the board games they have for sale available to try in house, but they have a great selection of indie games to play and purchase. Parking: The parking lot can sometimes get busy and can be difficult to get a parking spot at times, but generally always able to find a spot. Kid-friendliness: Great place to bring the family. They have a decent selection of kid friendly games to play.
Found out about this place from Instagram so had to try it out. Going into the restaurant we did not realize there was a 2 hour seating time limit, makes sense due to how small their building is, but unfortunate as we cannot try too many games. The food was actually the highlight for me over the ability to play games while having a meal. I tried their buffalo burger and it was so juicy and flavourful, and we loved their fries with their house special seasoning. We talked to the server and asked if there was a possibility to stay longer if we had more people and he mentioned a private room that you can rent for around 10 people, so if you want a longer experience that might be the way to go if you want to go for an event.
Went here for our 12 year olds birthday dinner while in town. Atmosphere and game selection was great. Staff were super helpful and friendly. Recommended for family and friends looking for a great time! Great job Raving Gamer Bistro Staff!
Had a great time with my daughter for an afternoon lunch that tasted great. Had Gluten free options which is a high priority for me as a celiac. And loved finding some of my childhood favorite games!
What a great place to hang with friends for a night! Friendly service, great suggestions, good food, and lots of game options! Frequent often!
Fun loving and such good food!! Kid-friendliness: Im a kid at heart, and I loved it ! Food : 5/5 |
Nice little place. Staff was welcoming and helpful. Went when it was busy but did not have to wait long. Typical bar food. Games were well together and clean. Go for atmosphere and fun times.
I appreciate how the staff helped us with the set up and instructions on game play for a new game we tried out. Definitely had a lot of fun and will be back again Kid-friendliness: There are great kids meal options and lots of games for kids to choose to play
Food wasnt anything special but no complaints. The presentation was good. There is an interesting variety of dishes available. The drink selection is creative and broad. It took a while once we first sat down to get service, and our server continued to be hands off. Once we were deeper into game playing this was fine but earlier on I would have liked more intervention from the server. We had empty plates stacked up on the table for quite a while before they were cleared, as an example. It is fun peering around the other tables and seeing the other games being played at the different tables. The games selection is quite good and the staff were very knowledgeable of the different games, being able to describe them and make recommendations. The store has a good selection to choose from if buying a new game. Overall I give it a thumbs up and will be back again.
First time taking our teenage/adult kids for something different. Lots of fun and laughs and good food and service.
The food is surprisingly good in addition to it being a cool board game place. And it serves alcohol!
Great staff and a restaurant with a cool concept! They have lots of board games available to play.
Nice food menu options. Locally sourced is always a bonus in my books. Food came fast and hot. Fun playing a game with family.
It is a great place to hang out with family and friends. Nice snacks and drinks. Lovely games to play.
Thursday outing part 2. We came here after dinner for drinks, dessert and board games. Apple pie a la mode was tasty, draft beer was served with frozen glasses and service was quick and friendly. Will go back and try their food menu next time
We made reservations for a large group which they accommodated no problem on a long weekend. We were there on Friday. Our server was WONDERFUL. The food was amazing, absolutely better than average as some reviews have said. Beer was great, i had a coconut lime sour. Lots of games to chose from! Will definitely be back.
Friendly staff. To be honest, I like how Boardwalk Cafe in Abbotsford does it, where you just grab the games yourself. Also, fluorescenty lighting didn t give the greatest vibe. Just a couple thoughts.
Good food, with cider available! Great atmosphere and comfortable booths with table top power outlets (huge props for this). Food
Great place to have a burger, a beer and play a board game. Kid-friendliness: Lots of games for the younger ones. Food : 4/5 |
Very cute little place. Very busy and noisy as you would expect in close quarters. But a fun atmosphere and the staff were great. Because it was busy they ran out of two tap beer options which was too bad. We had fries and charcuterie and both were very yummy. Great selection of games!
Had a great time at this place! I just wish it was easier to browse the games they have available to play. Otherwise, food was great, game night was great!
Caring staff, amazing chef who worked with our food allergies. Delicious meals and fun games. Dietary restrictions: They make their food in house so can accommodate allergies
Staff wasn t pleasant, food was good, service was slow despite there being only 1 other small group there. We were greeted with a staff member that looked like she wanted to be anywhere else but there, who reluctantly wiped down a booth for us. The waitress was extremely short with us which deterred us from even picking up a game. Water was not refilled once despite being empty and a group that came after us was receiving much better treatment and even left before us! We had to flag down our waitress at the end even though the restaurant had only two other groups there. Probably would not go again, will stick to the Turquoise Goat (friendly and knowledgeable staff).
This place has very quickly become my local favorite. Food is delicious - and they support other local places like breweries and the cheese place. Randy has been our server many times now and hes great! And I love being able to relax and play games :)
Great place to try a new board game and eat. Staff is friendly and was very helpful picking a board game to try.
Food option and quality were way better than I anticipated. Very good.
I moved out of Langley just before they opened will be encouraging all my friends to come here. Great layout for small and big groups. My friends and I were loud, but we had a separate room. Food was lovely and the staff attentive. I had just the right amount of beer .
Food was very good and also the staff was very kind The place is very cool even cold with a big AC
If you are with some friends and want to play games whilst having a couple of drinks this is the place to be. If you are looking for great food, maybe not. The food was ok, slightly under seasoned for my taste. I also felt it was expensive for what we got. Service was good though and all the staff were pretty friendly.
*whispers* thank you Brayden. From the private table - Kids Meal Food
*whispers* thank you brayden - from the private table (alarm noise) Food
Great atmosphere amazing family owned gamer bistro. Would recommend to anyone in the area or visiting from far! Staff takes time to teach you the games and knows the perfect time to bring out the food. Thank you Myoko Kid-friendliness: Great boardgame selection for young kids
The Raving Gamer is a must for anyone looking to have a delicious meal and a wonderful experience. It is THE place to go, whether you need a comfortable date, fun family outing or simply a fresh and flavourful meal. The options are endless and the staff/owners are absolutely amazing. They will ensure you are well taken care of and go above and beyond to make this experience a positive one. Out of all the board game cafes we have been to in Canada, this board game cafe has the greatest set up, the nicest staff and the most delicious food. If given the opportunity, we will definitely be back. Highly recommended!!!!
We came here to wrap up a stag and rented out the private room so we could have a larger table to play our games. The staff were very accommodating. The food and drinks were fantastic and I got the chance to try some games that I havent heard of before.
Be sure to book ahead! The food is excellent and they accommodated a lot of different food preferences. Dedicated gluten-free fryer. Fun date night and excellent games to try and buy! Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free options
Great concept that they have hundreds of board games that you can play (for all age groups) while you eat. The food was pretty good albeit the brekkie bowls were a tad small and not filling for the price, but it was the service that really left a LOT to be desired. We had both ordered sides to go with our brekkie bowls, and we had to ask for them 4 times before we finally got them (maybe write down peoples orders to ensure you get them right)....our main meals were pretty well done at that point. They got my coffee wrong and it took them the 4 asks to get that right as well and to get a glass of water. The tables have a 2 hour time limit, we had finally just received all our missing order items, when 5 mins later we were informed that we had to leave.....it was only the one hour 20 min mark....but the server had neglected to look at their book when they seated us to realize there was a reservation before our 2 hours would be up. We were given 5 mins notice to drink and eat up before we had to vacate, or we could drag all our meals and games over to the bar which was a much tinier area to finish up. We packed up and left. There was no Im sorry for the inconvenience, nothing....just you have to leave now. We left feeling not very valued as a customer. This place is catering my nieces friends upcoming wedding soon, and I sure hope the service they get will be a great deal better than what we received today. As much as we liked the food and game concept, its service that keeps people coming back.....we will most likely never go there again. Silver lining.....I enjoyed the game we were playing, so I may look to see if I can order my own game of it.
Good food with the ability to play some games is grand. Folks working there are friendly to boot. Always a good time.
Best place ever. Its a great place to get family together and interact over a board game
Always a great time! The seasoning on the fries is delicious Also they have an eclectic variety of games for purchase, some new Kickstarter finds and some you wouldnt expect! Food : 5/5
A great place for a village with family and friends, for those who love board games - this is paradise!!!
The food is really good, lots of locally sourced food on the menu. A lot of gluten free options to choose. Tons of games to try out. A huge hit for anyone who s never been before. Staff are helpful.
Awesome food, very nice collection of board games
Everything is great except the service. Service is utter trash. Youll watch the waitress wait on herself, more than once, before she considers the customers. Its a place where if u need something - you need to hunt them down.
My favorite board game bar! The staff is super friendly, they have good beer, and the food is delish. Brisket sandwich is sooo good! Theres a lot of different board games to play, which is great if youre looking to try one before buying (which they also have, with good prices).
My friends and I always have a good time when we are here. The food and coffee is always top notch. The staff is always tentative. And the selection of board games is fantastic. Vegetarian options: You can ask for the no meat version of some dishes. They also vegetarian options to pick from. Parking: Lots of room to park. Kid-friendliness: Lots of kids games and food selection for them too. And candy.
As much as we love the board games, we love the food at Raving Gamer. You must ALWAYS finish your game + meal with a plate of warm chocolate chip cookies. Its the only way. Plus their retail collection is actually super awesome. Several times we were able to find games that we werent able to find anywhere else! Lots of Kickstarter versions of the board games too!! Definitely one of our favourite place to visit for date nights, brunch meals, and game shopping.
We stopped in for dinner on a Thursday and were super excited to check this place out. They have a huge selection of games and the service was good. The menu was promising but the food was let down in comparison. Maybe they were having an off day as it seems like most people enjoyed the food. We tried the crispy calamari that had a great flavour but was anything but crisp, is came out very pale and limp. We didn t bother sending it back because the flavour was great and we thought it was a one off. We also tried the hot honey chicken sandwich and the chicken and waffles. Again the flavour was good for the chicken but it wasn t crispy - we expect our food to be crispy if the description of the item we re ordering says crispy and fried . The real let down was the fries, they were old and limp - we tried both the spicy and the salty ones. We expressed this to our server and showed her how they looked limp and she word for word said oh that s gross . We expected to have it taken off the bill or be offered a new order as we barely touched them but they offered 50% off. Not a huge deal but would ve loved to have it removed because they were just a complete let down. Overall the food for our visit was average, pretty much what you d expect for a restaurant that focuses on providing a games experience while dining. We d visit again, probably in a bigger group and while drinking to enjoy the games experience more so than the food. If you re looking solely for a place with great food I d probably find somewhere else to go.
Interesting place with good food. It was a blast playing board games with my group while we waited for our food. It seemed there were some staffing issues during our visit, but our waiter provided excellent service.
This is a great place to hang out with friends and new one too. Especially with board games around. Its a great ice breaker!
I love the concept but sadly the food has been a let down every time. The pies are decent. The fries were limp and so were the crispy squid. Cookies were nice while warm but their mediocrity was revealed once cooled. Ill probably give this place another try in the future because i love the idea so much. Hopefully they can turn the food quality around.
Nice family place!
Great place to visit. Amazing staff who are very helpful and give great game suggestions if needed.
This place is dangerous to me, out of all the times Ive gone only once have I left without a board game. The secret to that is the tables are large enough to eat food and play a game, so many other places that provide the same service fail at this.
Wonderful small bistro. Food is amazing and the staff are fantastic. They support the community by using locally sourced foods and drinks, as well as give back financially to charity. The games for playing include old favorites and new unique alike, and the games for sale are not found in other big stores. Its a great place for family game night, youth events and grown up fun too. I eat there regularly and am never disappointed. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian choices on the menu. Dietary restrictions: Several gluten free options that are delicious.
Amahhhhzing food, beer, and GREAT game selection
Fries are excellent! Great selection of games.
Got the so called club sandwich for take out. It was not a club but more so a ham sandwich. Came soggy and soaking wet with wet bread. Disappointing for the cost. I dont think I would make a trip back to eat.
One of our go-to family fun outings. Go for the great food and stay for the games. Service occasionally suffers but hey this is Langley!
I love the Raving Gamer Bistro as do my friends and family. We started ordering their Mac and Cheese on Skip during the pandemic and it was godly. We decided to go in person to try it fresh to see if it was even possible for it to be better (it was!). We were so surprised to see that you can borrow or buy games there to play! One of my faviourte date night quickly became coming here for dinner, buying a mystery puzzle solving game (like an exit room but a card game), and solving it with my partner. If you are worried this place is just for families or younger kids I would strongly disagree. Its a great place to eat some amazing comfort food and play a fun game with someone you care about.
Great place for a bite, some brews, and some games!
Salt was needed on the main dish.
Such a fun place and awesome food!
Good food, good games. Fun.
A unique experience accompanied by great food & service.
The service was great overall, but due to it not being very busy the servers took their time a bit with our orders. Still had a great time overall though. Highly recommend. Kid-friendliness: The restaurant is very kid-friendly. Cant say the same about the customers though lol but they cant control that.
Awesome food, great service! Sometimes a bit loud though with all those gamers! Food
Great vegan options, super nice staff and the game selection is great too. I had the vegan bowl ( forgot the name) , and the bruschetta spaghetti and they were both delicious. The fries are a perfect companion for longer games.
Weve come here a few times for playing some board games, but the hidden gem is the unbelievable food. The spicy fries are unique and perfect. 10/10 I just had the Hot Honey Sandwich and this might be the best chicken sandwich Ive ever had in my life. Not only is it an incredible and unique sauce that Ive never tasted before, the chicken was cooked to perfection and the bread was fresh and perfect. I cant recommend this highly enough. If youre going to go out for food and you like Chicken, you MUST try this Sandwich. Vegetarian options: Theyre there if you have a vegge SO.
Amazing gluten free options! Food was so good and the board game aspect is a lot of fun! We were there for a while and they didn t mind. Will definitely be coming back for the amazing food and games!!
An excellent sit down experience with one of the most creative menus themed to playing board games while you eat. I love this place. Vegetarian options: It has vegetarian options Kid-friendliness: It has a kids menu and games suitable for all ages.
Honestly had an amazing time here. The food was absolutely delicious. We came to have a games night with our kids but were pleasantly surprised by how great the food was. A lot of great games to choose from as well and the night should always end with a plate of warm cookies.
Service is alittle slow considering its not that big and there were enough servers Food is okay with the burgers we had cant say about anything else the menu looks good would like to go back and try something different. The fries were good but they were just warm What I did like was to play games instead of everyone staring at their phones
Never really gotten food here but the drinks are tasty and have great names. Cant beat a place to grab a couple casual drinks and play some tabletop board games. This is a regular for us, highly recommend!
Just heard about this place today do we gave it a shot. Had a great time and food was top notch. Had the mushroom soup that is right on par with the scratch made mushroom soup my mom makes, and i consider moms to be its own food group. Buffalo burger and fries were AWESOME! Nice smoky flavour and I didnt want to put it down. Oh, and the milkshakes...... drool worthy! All while playing an game of yahtzee lol..lots of neat games to play and even buy if you like them. Staff was super friendly too. Without a doubt I will be back
Warm atmosphere, friendly greetings, small selection of board games for purchase.
Got the Deck Builder and the Brisket for takeout. The food was great! Will definitely be coming back again, and again!
i love this place so so much. staff are wonderful and super helpful when it comes to allergies. our table wasn t ready for our reservation but they offered complimentary fries the service for the rest of the night was amazing!!
Randomly found this bistro on a Friday night. Kiki (hostess) was friendly and super knowledgeable about the wide selection of boardgames available. Our server Erica was absolutely amazing. We sat at the bar and observed the efficient staff at work. I can see that the staff was having a good time working together. To top it off, the food was well presented and tasted delicious! I will definitely come back for game night with family and friends.
A super laid back and friendly spot :) I made a reso to come back!
Raving Gamer is always a hit with us and our kids. They are also especially great at accommodating allergies and dietary restrictions.
The food was top notch and our server was amazing. I will definitely be back to try more of the delicious items on the menu. Vegetarian options: My co workers who had vegetarian options raved about their meals too.
One of my favourite places to eat and relax with my family. The food is top-notch and hard to find anywhere else. Your recipes are unique and delicious. The servers are excellent and can tell you the rules to any game they have on the shelf to play.
We ve been here a handful of time. Sometimes with the kids, sometimes for date night. Every time it s been awesome. The staff are friendly and professional, the games are abundant and the food is wicked!
