Steaks & seafood grilled tableside, plus cocktails & Japanese appetizers in a relaxed setting.
Wonderful experience. We sat at the stove top table and had a wonderful show by our chef. Very skilled. Great humour. The food was delicious and perfectly cooked to order.
Having never eaten at Katana or ever had Teppanyaki before we had a lot of learning to do so we could order the right amount for our party. We asked many questions about what to order and how many dishes to get since we have kids with us. It was a bumpy process at first due in large part to how lively the restaurant is but we got our order in and it was just the right amount. Our chef was great and put on a wonderful display that the kids loved. They are already asking to go back. It was a great experience and we left there full and happy. We'll go back again and try some of the other dishes.
My friends brought me here for my birthday dinner, the atmosphere was nice, the food was absolutely fabulous, and the chef was excellent 👌! The only thing that brought this experience down was the service from our waitress. She had a bad attitude and seemed extremely annoyed about everything. Every time we asked for something (a drink, or hot sauce, or anything), she would roll her eyes and huff about it. Everyone at our table felt this. I really did not appreciate that type of service. IF I do come here again, I will specifically request another waitress. I hope management has a word with her about her attitude. You could lose a lot of business with people treating you this way, especially on an entire table and a special occasion. I will have to strongly think about visiting here again due to that kind of service from her.
Katana Location: 19957 Willowbrook Dr, Langley, BC V2Y 1A7 Upon entering the restaurant, we were promptly greeted by the hostess, who exuded warmth and professionalism. We were seated immediately, setting a positive tone for the rest of our dining experience. Food: As a starter, we were served a small plate of salad accompanied by miso soup. While the salad was decent, without any standout qualities, the miso soup was flavorful and well-prepared, providing a comforting beginning to our meal. Appetizer: Ebi Chili Mayo Deep-fried king-size tiger prawns served with a special chili mayo, topped with corn chips. The Ebi Chili Mayo appetizer was particularly impressive. The crispiness of the prawns, combined with the rich and tangy chili mayo, created a harmonious balance of texture and flavor. The prawns were generously sized and cooked to perfection. This dish is highly recommended for those seeking a flavorful and satisfying appetizer. Rating: 9/10 For the main course, we opted for The Ultimate Dinner, which featured a giant lobster tail, filet mignon steak, shrimp, and scallops. The portion of rice served initially was generous, a notable difference from other establishments. The filet mignon steak was undoubtedly the highlight of the meal—cooked to a perfect rare as requested, it was tender, well-seasoned, and delectable. The scallops were also commendable, with a beautiful golden-brown sear and a delicate taste. The shrimp and lobster were equally well-prepared, with a good balance of seasoning that enhanced their natural flavors. The accompanying vegetables were fresh and well-cooked, rounding out the dish nicely. Rating: 9/10 Chef: Our teppanyaki chef was exceptionally friendly and engaging, adding a personal touch to the meal. While the performance followed the typical teppanyaki format, he did manage to surprise us with an unexpected trick, which was a pleasant addition to the experience. Overall, his skill and demeanor contributed positively to the meal. Service: The service throughout our visit was outstanding. Our waitress was attentive, courteous, and ensured that our needs were met promptly. Her professionalism and friendliness greatly enhanced our dining experience. Rating: 9/10 Ambiance: The ambiance of the restaurant, while generally acceptable, would benefit from some modernization and upgrades. While it was adequate for the meal, it lacked the refinement one might expect from a venue of this caliber. Rating: 6/10 Price: The pricing was reasonable, given the high quality of ingredients and the entertainment value provided by the teppanyaki chef. The combination of visual spectacle and culinary expertise justifies the cost, making it a worthwhile experience. Verdict: Despite the need for some improvements in ambiance, Katana excels in delivering high-quality food and exceptional service. The overall dining experience was enjoyable, and I look forward to returning in the future. This restaurant is certainly worth a visit for those seeking a memorable teppanyaki experience.
Good experience! Came here with friends for a special occasion. Highly recommend the Saketini! I had the Steak and Scallops, which tasted good! Heads up: If you have a dairy-allergy, they use incredible amounts of butter, although they offer to cook it without butter but only in the back kitchen.. Which ruins the whole concept. Chef we had was fantastic!
A great experience with the chef cooking right in front of you. The restaurant has a super cozy vibe filled with polaroids of customers on the walls. The chef was friendly. The chef does some tricks with his utensils, fascinating to watch. He also brings out a huge fire which is probably the selling point of this experience. You’re seated with other people, total of 9 people on each table I think. So it might be little uncomfortable for people who don’t like sitting with strangers. The food tasted normal, nothing out of ordinary. Overall great experience!
Came here for dinner a little while ago and had a lovely dinner. It's important to note that the portions of meat and seafood get shared between groups of people sitting at a station. So the piece of steak gets split and shared between several people. If you're a meat lover such as myself, I recommend you broaden your selection and get a number of things. The chef's perform exceptionally well. The drinks are great too. Try the applies while you wait for the setup and enjoy the show.
Very tasty! We went for our anniversary and had a great time! The chef was fun and I like how they separated the rice and veggies so there were different courses. It's expensive but that's to be expected. My only issue was the decor; it was very dated for such an expensive place, all the photos on the wall are cute, but not suited for this restaurant
The lady who answered the phone so rude when I tried to book a reservation and even hung up while I was trying to find another time that works. So rude. I use to go there all the time with family and now I will never gp there after how she treated me.
Decently priced and worth the experience!
Good food and good show.
Delicious! Chef was very entertaining
I went back and forth on whether I wanted to leave this review but I figured I would in case any large groups were planning on attending for a special occasion. It all started when I called to make reservations for my birthday. I initially made reservations for 15 people and the lady on the other end of the phone sounded annoyed that it was for a large group. She notified me that they had a policy of no more than 1.5hrs for guests to eat and leave, which I understand if the place is really busy and they need to turn over tables to new guests quickly, but even the Keg will have some leeway, especially if we are spending money and not just sitting around. She said she only had 8pm available, which was too late so i asked for 5pm and thankfully they could accommodate. She also asked for me to confirm any changes and i said absolutely. A few days later, I had more people confirm so I called back to change my reservation to 19 people. The man on the other line said ok and he would update the reservation. So on the day of, I received a phone call, reconfirming my reservation, which i was happy to do. When I arrived, the waitresses werent the most friendly when seating us, and mentioned the 15 person reservation, I advised that no, I had called to change it to 19, they tried to sit two random people at the one side of our tables but I had to ask the staff to move them to make room for two people who were running a few minutes behind (because they have a baby and got caught up), but all other 17 people were on time, ready to eat and drink. The chefs were great. Food, for what we paid was subpar, cooked well but no taste to it. For roughly $50 a plate, it would be nice to have flavorful food. Then they left us to eat, not checking if we needed anything else before bills were handed out and we had to go up to the front to pay. On their website, there is mention under the pineapple boat to let them know about celebrating special events like bdays and anniversaries because youll get a special photo, these photos are plastered all over the walls. My party was not offered this, I wasnt even offered so much of a happy birthday unfortunately. Im lucky enough that just having my friends and family there to celebrate with me was enough but Im embarrassed that I booked a place that seemed to not appreciate the business, nor care enough to go a bit of the extra mile to make their guests day special. I ended up walking over to sammy j peppers for a glass of wine and even they gave me a free dessert and the waitress was so sweet. My advice, after spending many birthdays at the Kobe steakhouse downtown, do yourself a favor and make the trip down there. The service and food has always been exceptional.
Not too bad.. not sure if its worth the price though
A bit cold but amazing place
Very entertaining evening with the family. Kid-friendliness: Happy to say Ill be returning. Food : 5/5 |
Very delicious and good service
Zero star if possible. The servers are as rude as they can be.
Great place to celebrate anything!!
Could be better. Not the best teppanyaki.
First time in this restaurant! Great food, excellent Chef and great vibe!
Great food, decent prices, good location Looking forward to visiting again Food : 5/5
They were awesome. Even got a cushion for my back and my shorter friend to sit on. Food was great.
The price is 100% worth it in my opinion. The chefs are so incredibly talented, super friendly, & the food is absolutely phenomenal!
Good :)
Food was absolutely amazing
First of all, for the price point the service needs to be a lot better. Servers were not great and did not come around to ask for refills or more drink orders. They weren t rude but weren t friendly either. The cook s showmanship and tricks were mediocre at best, a little bit of banging and spinning his cooking utensils to start and then 1 onion volcanoe that took him a while to stack and get going. No personality or engagement with the customers, this is teppenyaki, part of what we pay for is the entertainment of the chef. On to the food I ordered chicken karage to start as we waited for the rest of the party to arrive. I don t know what they consider karage to be but it was a plate of soft pan fried cubed chicken bites that looked like something my teenage child would make at home. Chicken karage should be a Japanese fried chicken with texture and crunch from the batter, not small soft pan fried pieces of chicken, it was not good at all and I returned it. I ordered the ultimate teppenyaki which was filet mignon, lobster tail, scallops, and shrimp. Overall it was good but not spectacular, and when the price point is $93 I would expect better. The fried rice was subpar, and the 2 sauces that were served to accompany the meats, seafood, and veggies were just ok. Osaka includes chicken in their ultimate, is slightly cheaper and much better overall. Kobe and Osaka in Vancouver are far superior to Katana in Langley, especially considering you aren t saving any money here. There s also absolutely no atmosphere and the decor is need of a face lift. One of the most surprising things I found was that they don t give you chopsticks, they only give you a fork, and when we asked for chopsticks we were giving the cheap take out chopsticks, which work fine, but if I m paying $50-$100 for teppenyaki I would expect you to have proper in house chopsticks. They also only had 2 or 3 options for Sake which the server knew absolutely nothing about, I would expect a lot more from a teppenyaki restaurant. Anyone that believes this place is great clearly hasn t been anywhere else or experienced real authentic teppenyaki. I would never come back and could have much more enjoyable meals for $50-$100 a plate. This place feels like an express teppenyaki that should be in the $30-$40 range, like something you d find at a 3-star all inclusive in Mexico. I won t say I hated it, but it was very mediocre and not worth the price at all. Go to Kobe or Osaka if you want teppenyaki.
Mediocre food. Chefs were good and entertaining, main waitress/seater lady is rude and rushing. You pay for the experience.
Fun atmosphere. Surprisingly good food quality. Unexpectedly good teppan-yaki joint stashed in Langley. Little pricey but food definitely above average.
Very delicious
Always good when I come here for dinner! Didn t have the salmon last time unfortunately, but I tried the scallops and they were pretty good.
I ordered filet and scallops, my wife got filet. We enjoyed all the food except my wife ordered her steak medium and they served it very rare. She couldnt eat it but shes not one to complain. With the sauce on the steak I didnt notice. I thought she wasnt feeling well. Too bad, otherwise 5 star. Not cheap $55.00 a plate.
Edit: Food did not agree with me. One star. Food was alright, service was alright. Those are the two points. This place is HORRIBLY over priced, its baffling. The price to food ratio is atrocious. Ive never been rushed out of a restaurant so fast in my life. Sat at 7 already out by 8. I cant recommend this place at all.
Great experience and the food was amazing
Great place awesome show
Overall the food, portion, and atmosphere was great. I just couldnt justify giving 5 stars because the steak was okay at best (when compared to a traditional steakhouse). The scallops and shrimp were really fresh and tasty. Be prepared to wait a little as they dont start cooking until the whole table is filled.
We had reservations for 7 and they sat us with ppl who had been seated since 6:30 so they rushed us to order food immediately. No consistency on a server to reorder drinks during dinner. The steak and seafood was really good. The bathrooms were really cold and unkept. You get 1.5 hour to stay which we didn t get because they sat us at a 6:30 reservation table so they moved us to the bar at 8pm. Everything was very rushed. The chefs performance was nice. You get a lot of food.
Awesome place
The food is amazing as always, the service is top notch.
Brought a cake with candles . An hour and a 1/2 after spending over 500$ we asked for them to bring out cake for our daughter. Server chick was clearly annoyed and wanted us outa the seats . For the next group. Eye roll professional. NEVER AGAIN
First time at Katanas for my husbands birthday and was very disappointed! I have only been to Kobe s , but I knew prior that Katana s isn t as fancy as Kobe s, but was told the service is great. Our service was horrible and I do not write reviews often. Our reservation was at 8, we got there at 7:50. We did not see the chef start until around 8:35 due to people arriving late - we seemed to have to wait on them which is ridiculous. I told the chef it was my husbands birthday, although the server never asked. I saw another birthday table get asked, have their photo taken AND get ice cream treat at the end. We got absolutely NOTHING! Our server seemed extremely unhappy and our chef was extremely low energy. Our server never checked on our table for a full hour, another guest nearly went to the front to ask for a drink but the chef had to yell for our server. She took his one order and took off without asking others . Once our chef was cleaned up he asked if we needed anything, that s when our server showed up once everyone was finished their food Overall, this experience was awful. Our server s name was Jane and I will be calling management to let them know. It s much more worth the drive to Vancouver for a more classy and high end service. The staff here seem to be more worried about getting the tables to leave more than giving good service, yet expect a good tip.
Great Resturant and affordable prices compared to other restaurants staff is always sweet. Only thing that would improve this restaurant is higher quality halal steaks and slightly bigger portion of steak!
This place is awesome they cook your meal right in front of you and the chef puts on a awesome display while cooking for you.
Fantastic experience!
Its pretty good. Its not the best Ive had. The place feels like it needs a new renovation. Ive seen more action from other chefs. I was close to the far left of the chef and was getting food flicked in my direction. I didnt get any on me, but it was hitting my part of the table. Drinks were great. More Chef tricks, less flicking of food to the left side, and a renovation, the place would get 5 stars. Bring lots of cash!
KATANA delivers an extraordinary dining experience where traditional Japanese flavors meet contemporary brilliance. Taking my parents here for the first time was a memorable experience they loved every moment. The staff graciously accommodated a vegetarian dish without compromising on quality. The ambiance was vibrant, and the entertainment kept us engaged throughout the evening. KATANAs commitment to excellence shines through in every aspect, making it a standout destination for Japanese cuisine.
It was our Valentine dinner it was very tasty..
Pay for the show and atmosphere. Food is decent
No longer worth the money. Portions are small, and prices are high. They are more interested in turning tables quickly than providing quality service. Almost all the meat was overcooked, but they are too busy to care. We used to be regulars.
We came to celebrate New Years Eve. Drove an hour to get there for 7pm The decor was alright. All the poloroid photos on the walls take away from the ambiance of the place. Those should really be in an album instead of becoming wall paper on the walls. As we sat down the server came and took drink orders. There were 10 of us around the stove and chef. Wasnt really comfortable as no arm space and they have the carts of food and condiments near the ends of the counters where the customers sit which takes away room for the customer. Once the chef came in, he started cooking and by the time we finished dinner it was 1 hour later. From the time we sat down till the time we left it was 1 hour. The whole meal felt very rushed. We had to ask for the dessert menu meanwhile the server already brought the bill... So even though the food was delicious, for whats supposed to be an amazing dinner out for New Years turned out incredibly rushed. I guess my expectations for this restaurant were to high
Great food. Friendly staff.
Feels greasy in there. Places needs a good deep cleaning. Service was really good.
I love this place, but some small things around the restaurant disappoint me. I feel like this place has the potential to be so much more, but they need to just put in a little more effort. Reno the place a bit to clean it up, keep the bathroom a little cleaner and the wait staff need to be asking serving drinks more often. We would have purchased way more drinks if they would check on us more. Overall, loved the food prepared by my chef, he was great. Keep up the good work! Parking: Its the perfect size.
Great place, friendly employees, and family environment. Recommended.
Ive never had such a unique dining experience. Fully entertaining to watch and a delight to eat.
Loved it. Great for a birthday celebration
Food is way over priced, the cook is awesome but looks like they are very unhappy with their profession as they rarely smile and kinda sound like monotone zombies.....we only come because someone sometime somewhere always throws a bday there.....
Place was cold I kept my winter coat on with scarf but that didn t seem abnormal to the staff and manager. Food was 6/10 nothing spectacular. Would not come again
It was a fun time for the eyes and mouth. The staff were friendly The meat is really soft too Seafood and vegetables were all fresh and delicious. I would like to visit again :-)
I know people complain about the price but seriously, it s Teppenyaki, you pay for the chef s performance and atmosphere. I ve been here for a birthday and for NYE, both times we were greeted promptly, seated, and staff had the food out in minutes. Staff clearly are used to guests taking photos, advising when they are lighting fires.
Always a good time. Always good food. Pricey, but worth it Food
Too expensive for the meal
Excellent food and service! The tableside cooking is quite the show and entertaining. Only minor thing is there is a struck hour and half limit. So if you plan to stay and socialize at all keep this in mind.
It was my familys first time trying Tepanyaki. Chef Tom was so nice and put on a great show for my family. I also like that it s a bit affordable compared to many other hibachi places. My foreign parents were amazed at the tricks type chef could do. Its also a very clean restaurant, washrooms are clean as well.
Worst customer service
Went for my birthday a guy was having his birthday to. Had to buy him dinner for good luck lol Food always great Food
Great experience over all! A must try if you havent visited here before.
Food was delicious! Fun atmosphere and service was very good. My only complaint is the bathrooms are very filthy. Not just one day too busy to clean, but a lot of grim and dirt. The paper towel ran out and it was scattered all over the floor, garbages overflowing. That s not the end of the world, as things do get busy. But the ladies washroom is in a big need of a huge scrub down. Please clean it! Right now it s not sanitary. But I ll still give 4 stars as we had a great time and food was excellent
Good food good service portions can be a little bigger
Seriously good eats. Our chef jj always listens and remembers. I always ask for a raw filet mignon and he always delivers. The fried rice is to die for. And that mustard sauce......soooooo good. Food
What a great fun experience
Worst place for I ve ever been regarding customer service. The person responsible for this is Ray. I ve experienced the worst service ever. Preferably I love everything in Vancouver and Kobes. No point in travelling all the way out here in Langley. The quantity was horrible as well. We asked for more fried rice and this man who claims to be a chef said you can t have more rice because you can only make it in the beginning . Ray also lied claiming he is the manager out of the kitchen when we asked for the manager. This is ridiculous, from now on I will never come back to this place again. In my opinion people who want great service and a great time should avoid this place. Especially when it s someone s birthday. Worst place ever.
Popped my Kanata cherry was a fantastic dining experience! I suggest later reservations much quieter! We had our own private show, which allowed a beautiful dining experience!!! If you have never been dont wait another day! Make reservations asap u wont regret it!!
Fantastic place . They made my friends birthday experience grate.
Food ok. Have had better.
Horrible attention, got yelled at. The waiter keep insisting for us to give her tip. Refuse to give cash back. Never go there never.
The food and service here was second to none. We were here from Saskatchewan to visit our son and had been recommended to eat at Katana and it did not disappoint. Every piece of meat (each type), fried rice, right down to desert and Mr Kim s wine selection was done to perfection and the experience watching the talented chef cooking was captivating. Mr Kim came by to make sure everything was perfect and it was!!!
What an experience for the first time being there no disappointment awesome to see and experience this the food was great and also the staff was lovely wide selection on the menu and watch it get made right in front of you is a great experience as well Vegetarian options: They have a vegetarian menu Dietary restrictions: And followed and allergies Parking: Parking is all around Kid-friendliness: Kids are always welcomed Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair doors accessible
Wow amazing show and service the kid and us had a great time thank-you ! Dietary restrictions: Great about subtracting dairy from the food for an allergy Food : 5/5 |
Kind of a cheesy option for a good, expensive dinner. The theatrics of the chef were practiced, not too flamboyant, mildly entertaining. The food is cooked in a flash, cut to bite-size pieces, which is a good thing because the only knives are the ones the chef uses. The seats seem to be quite low for the height of the table. Its a good configuration for dinner with 4 couples. Youll leave happy.
Great experience, good service and food . Its a great night out
Excellent service & dinner show
An excellent experience, with exceptional food.
Was definitely not worth 40-80$ a plate, the food was very mid it s basically like going to the food court and watching them cook behind glass except it s ready quicker, tastes way better, and is only around 10-15$ the show that was put on was appreciated so much but lacking heavily for the price being paid- would have at least expected interaction with the show: catching food in the air kinda stuff.. but unfortunately wasn t displayed anywhere at our dinner table or ones surrounding. The service was very nice tho :) very kind up at the front desk
It was a great value to me the only thing I dont think its easy to keep steaks medium rare when its cut up into cubes. its hard to cook all at once when multiple people are staring at you while you work. I think our cooks name was Ewen I wish he didnt have to wear a mask . .I understand they are cooking the food but. You go to Dennys or IHOP and nobody is wearing masks. Maybe its an culture Thing.
From stat to finish this was a cool experience . The chef did his so cool chef thing with his utensils and prepared our group of 10 a soooo delicious dinner . Mmmmmmm so good the meals were and everyone loved dinner Kid-friendliness: A 12 yr old was having her birthday party there.
The wait staff was Chinese and couldn t understand me speaking Japanese to them. But the chefs at the tables are authentic Japanese and put on a proper Japanese show with the food. A little expensive but I was too full for dessert when leaving. The chicken was a little bland. Both steaks were good. My wife s salmon was cooked to perfection, moist, not dried out
This was a disappointing Fathers Day experience. I only eat fish (not seafood) or vegetarian and they were out of salmon, the only fish dish on the menu. The only option for a meal was to pay $29 for the vegetarian option - a plate of fried rice and vegetables. The soup was made from beef broth, so they gave me a second salad instead, which was nice but not particularly tasty. My family liked their food but my food reminded me of something you would find at a fast food shop in the mall. Definitely did not live up to the ratings of over 4 stars. I also did not like the ambiance much - it felt very crowded, it was loud and the seating was not comfortable because the table was too high and the seats too low. The service was friendly and the chef did a great job of putting on a show while doing the cooking. All restaurants seem to be getting ridiculously expensive, but this one was definitely overpriced for what we received.
Great restaurant
I went there for the very first time and found it a bit disappointing. The dinner had a strong burnt taste in everything that was cooked. The service was good but would not go back for what it cost and the quality of food we experienced.
For a great culinary experience, this is the perfect Japanese restaurant. While the chef prepares the food in front of you, you get to watch a great show of skills and fun jokes. Great for the family or friends getting together
Came for a bday. The area was small but our chef was very interactive! The food portion was generous and delicious! The drinks were pretty as well
We went her to celebrate a milestone birthday. The chef was awesome. although for the price the portions of meat and seafood were very small. Felt very rushed, they only give you 1-1/2 hrs for everything, the food came out way to fast and had to hunt down the servers for service. The floor tiles were broken so had to sit sideways in my chair to keep my chair from rocking,
Very pricy for very salty food and little food and the chefs don t even try anymore to make it entertaining. Not the best place to go .and you have to share tables with strangers if you did not bring enough friends it s very uncomfortable.
What a great experience. The chef was entertaining, the food and atmosphere were superb. Would definitely dine there again. Food
great!
A great experience overall, kids had a great time time and ate all their food.
My mother took me here for my birthday. Staff was helpful and friendly. And then when the chef started cooking in front of us, I looked at his food prep skills and said to my mother How many years of culinary school does he need to do this? Seriously, he made food prep an art form. Thanks for both dinner and a show! :)
Excellent experience. Definitely quite the show they put on. Loved the food . The whole evening was wonderful.
Was a good night
Fantastic Japanese Steakhouse. Fun environment for family and kids. The chefs really go out of their way to ensure they are entertaining as well as preparing a lovely meal for all the guests.
Cool experience. Great food
Classic Teppanyaki restaurant with all the flames. A great place for a group special occasion or birthday. Dinner was great, but the pineapple boat unfortunately wasn t ripe at all.
The food at Katana is top shelf! They do a little cooking show and the food is really delicious! It s a little pricey, but well worth it for a special treat.
Really cool place. Good food and atmosphere.
Chef was amazing
Love this place! Staff are attentive l, food is amazing, ow er checks on ypu and there is entertainment as they cook your food Parking: Lots of spots but they are narrow Kid-friendliness: All kids were being entertained Wheelchair accessibility: One handy cap parking spot. Chairs are low if you have issues getting up but there is room for wheelchairs
1 star because the experience and the effort from the chef was great. I can t say for the same for the price/ quality of food they served. You can buy better quality steaks at Costco instead!
Very good
We really wanted to love it here but won t be returning. Reserved for a group of 5 and were seated with 2 other parties for a total of 9 people. 8 would have been tight, 7 would be optimal, 9 was downright awkward. I was shoulder to shoulder with a person from another party. The guy on the end looked like he was almost off the edge of the table. Not totally the restaurants fault but another group was in full on yelling mode and singing for a birthday party. Over the top loud glad you had fun but umm .yeah . Pros: Chef was friendly Portions were good Food was tasty Cons: There were too many people seated in our pod Restaurant was incredibly noisy We couldn t hear the chef
Bring your wallet!
Great food and service. Could use a little renovation as it looks a little worn out.
I m sorry but this place is a rip off! I understand you pay for the show and to get them to cook in front of you but our cook was so quite and didn t interact at all with us and the waitress was beyond rude. We will never be back to this place. Kobe is the place to go!!!!
What a great place to enjoy a celebration dinner. We went for my daughter 10th birthday and the kiddos had such a great time watching the chefs do tricks with their food. The service was quick and the chef was great with the kids, showing off his tricks and most importantly the food tasted amazing. Thank you Katana for a memorable evening. Kid-friendliness: They were great with the kids, did some extra tricks.
We go every year for my sons birthday . It s great we keep going back
No where near as good as Kobe. The cooking presentation by the chef was kind of mundane. Not alot of enthusiasm or showmanship. Service was good though. Restaurant was clean. Food was very bland, little to no seasoning. My steak was over cooked and was only 4 or 5 bite size pieces in total. The scallops were tasty but very tiny. The fried rice was extremely bland. There was no difference in taste between the regular steamed rice and the fried. Kid-friendliness: They do have a kids menu. But for 6yrs and under
Omg the best steak Ive ever had and the scallops were to die for. The food all around was just so delicious. Went here for my 40th bday. Would definitely go back. Its a little pricey but so worth it, but then again, I got the most expensive dish they had, which was the seafood and steak dinner, and I was able to share it with my hubby. So only about 50 dollars per person, which is not bad at all for what you get. It comes with fried rice for both of us, this delicious soup for us both as well as salad. Perfect amount for 2 people. Costs approximately 100 bucks for the meal plus drinks. We had 2 tables. Was a great time.
Too rushed out for next seating
We had an absolute delicious meal at Katana. The staff were friendly and the cook was great and interactive with us. Steak, chicken and prawns were delicious I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others.
Really love the food and how the chef preforms for you and Cooks the food right in front of you and the service is really great would definitely come back here again
It was really good!
Love this place so much, and I love that it is close to home so I am not having to travel all the way downtown for this type of experience. Very comparable to Osaka s which is one of my all time favorite places. Our chef was great put on a great show, everything tasted amazing the seafood is very fresh protein was cooked and seasoned perfectly
Amazing food and a bit of a show. Cheaper then Kobe s and just as good quality- some of the best fried rice
Had the best dinner here last night! To start off we had the gyoza and spring rolls which were both delicious, the dipping sauce for the spring rolls made them even more yummy. I ordered a white peach sangria which was a perfect starter drink. For sushi, I ordered an oshinko roll, scallop, and a spicy girl roll. All were delicious, and the best I have had! My boyfriend ordered hibachi ribeye steak and lucky for me he did not like shrimp so I had his rock n shrimp which hit the spot! Only bad thing about dinner was my second drink which was pinot noir. However, this was my fault and not a pairing I would recommend with sushi. The pinot noir was great after I finished dinner though!
Always amazing.
The place is really nice and the people working were great, but the overall food was disappointing. $46 for 6 little pieces of steak and mayne 10 shrimp, rice and veggies??? The chef show was ok but nothing spectacular. Definitely a one time thing.
Fun experience a definite must try once. You get a small salad, soup, then the fire show starts, huge serving of rice first then it gets cold by the time your meat comes, you then get two small shrimps and then veggies come .. wish everything came at once so you can eat like a stir fry.. quick service Quite pricey but its fun vibe with a group...
Great place to eat. foods always great same as the drinks. Me and my freinds have a blast everytime!!!! Check it out
Great food
Great dinner , great service, come early if u dont have a reservation
A fun experience and yummy food! Well worth the money!
We got here on time. Had to wait till other people, strangers, showed up before chef started making the food. Waited over 45 min for our food they need to figure out a better way to serve people. If we re on time, why are we waiting for complete strangers before we can get our food horrible service
Good for large parties, as they arrange everyone around the stove. But meat portions were small and there it little privacy between yourself and other guests.
Happy with the show, not so much with the food. The chef was very friendly an put on a great show. The food was mediocre at best. Not a dish I would pay 50$ anywhere else for sure.
This place is wicked. Highly recommend. $$$ but its worth it as a special treat, or for an important night out.
Experience it once, abit pricey....great staff..
If I could give zero stars I would came here for a birthday event and my boyfriend asked to split one meal, the server said okay and wrote it down then moved on to the rest of our friends. We had made sure to explain it to them as I had been to Katana s before, we knew how overwhelming it was with our table of 12, and we didn t want any mix ups. We were then slowly served each portion of our meal, and of course, we didn t think anything of it as the chef brought portioned amounts of each food item based on what everyone ordered. I couldn t eat it all of course, and it got me wondering why they were giving me so much food, as I was only supposed to get half of one meal. When it came to the end, we got our bill, and sure enough, we were charged for 2 meals. My boyfriend and I looked at each other in horror, as we weren t prepared to pay $100 for 2 meals we didn t ask for. I am a full-time student who has bills to pay and needs to watch what I purchase. After a long talk with the staff, we were forced to pay as they told us that we did in fact not tell them we were splitting a meal and that we asked for 2 steaks. But, I didn t even talk while we were ordering, my boyfriend did the talking so how would they know if I wanted my own separate steak? There was nothing else we could do, they would just repeat themselves and wouldn t listen to what we had to say. They insisted that we pay, and they began ignoring us. They were totally disrespectful. Very poor customer service.
One the best restaurants in the lower mainland hands down. Not only is the food to die for, I really appreciate the show put on by the cooks, each, and every time. A shout out to all members of your staff. Youre absolutely fantastic. Thank you.
Nice employees and good owner
Teppanyaki (teppanyaki) restaurant bright and happy atmosphere Run by Koreans and somewhat pricey
Always a great experience going to Katana, food is excellent and the chefs are spectacular.
Very cool experience and lots of food. Show up starving!
The environment smelled bad, stinky washroom, grease, bad cleaning? You can tell their air vents are not working or not on as the smoke from cooking leaves the cooking area and goes everywhere except for the vent Not sure about when was the last time they cleaned the place or renovated the place but it was very uncomfortable being in the place where all the tables and everywhere u looked was dirty. Not what you would expect from a Japanese cuisine restaurant serving teppanyaki and costing $40-100 per person. Chefs had standard procedure at every table, and were well trained and very good at putting up their show. There was some presentation but it was not elegant and refined, more of a quick show off kind of feel? Unfortunately, I couldnt relax and fully enjoy it due to the smell and discomforting worry of touching the dirty edges of the counter. Food was okay but felt like I went to teriyaki express at the food court when I saw how its cooked, is messy compared to other places Ive been to. The ingredients are pretty good though, lobster, steak, chicken were all very fresh. The sauces didnt fit very well with the food that was served. I understand the place has been around for a long time so its okay to give it a try but I cant get myself to go again when I know of better and cleaner places elsewhere for a more refined show and unique food. It was around 70% filled and I didnt make a reservation, seems popular in Langley.
Delish food and watching them cook in front of you is even more satisfying Vegetarian options: The veggies were perfect in there proper ways Parking: All one level Kid-friendliness: If they dont like parent could eat lol Wheelchair accessibility: Yes
THE BEST. Amazing service, they always know how to keep you entertained! Not only is everyone so nice but they endlessly go above and beyond. I love this place!!!
Food was excellent, service was good and our chef was outstanding. Will definitely be going back!!
Great group of strangers, amazing food, left full, entertained, and happy. Staff are all delightful, one of our favorite places to enjoy dinners in summer.
Brought my parents there for my moms birthday and absolutely loved it. Great experience, great staff and great food! Would recommend to anyone who has not tried this style of restaurant. Will definitely be going back!
Very cool atmosphere, friendly staff and awesome service. Not to mention the food was delicious, Ill definitely be returning!
It was a very nice meal and the chef was very good and put on a very good show.
amazing food fantastic service clean resturant
Love this restaurant. Entertaining, good fresh food. Kid-friendliness: Kids loved watching Chef cooking, especially the fire.
A unique experience with exquisite food.
The food wasnt great, and it was quite expensive. Not a great combo. I wont go back.
Great time will go again
Could be a great place, we usually go to kobes downtown bit thought we would try this place, first thing we noticed was thr cleanliness is lacking. You could see thr grease and burnt food around the edges of the grill upon arrival. Not something you will see at Kobes steakhouse. The drinks were pretty bad and over priced for langley. If they could match Kobes ot would be better.
Good food but no Katanas :(
Great food, taste is great!
Its a but pricey and not as good as Osakas or Kobes
Food portion is not big.
Tl;dr Overpriced, bad food, small portions, upset stomach. I made a reservation here to have a nice dinner with my fiance and I was excited to have a nice evening! When we walked in there were nice photos lining the wall making the place feel very customer oriented. I ordered the Kushiaki, chicken karaage, and two steak sets. The Kushiaki tasted freezer burnt. The shrimp were small and dry and the scallops were even smaller about the size of my fingertip. It came with two small skewers (4 shrimp and 4 scallops) it was $13 and I would not reccomend ordering it. The Karaage ($9) then came with more salad than chicken on the plate. It was dry, hard, and similar to ayce chicken left out for hours. The steak set we ordered was $39-$41, the steaks were tiny and undercooked. We asked for medium rare and we received rare close to blue. The only nice thing was the chef (who kept asking if we were okay and he put on a great but rushed show) and one of the older waiters who helped take our orders when the others ignored us actively. We then headed home and had to stay in the bathroom due to upset stomachs.
Awesome show. Little pricey but good food
Friendly staff. Our dinner was really good
What experience great people
Steak was tender, and the seafood was so fresh.
