Thrive isn’t just a farm-to-table dining experience—it’s a feeling, a connection, and a celebration of life itself. Nestled in the heart of Norfolk County, Ontario’s Garden, Chef Matt and Autumn have created something extraordinary: a sanctuary where food, people, and place come together in harmony. I’ve had the privilege of visiting Thrive three times now—once for my birthday, and other times to create photography and content that I hoped could do justice to its beauty. And every single time, I leave with that same warmth in my heart, as though I’ve been welcomed into something much deeper than a meal. The food? I kid you not, it is the best and most beautiful food I’ve ever had. Each dish feels like a love letter—to the land, to the seasons, and to sustainability. A magical beautiful experience from the moment you sit down. There’s so much soul to every plate, where peak-season ingredients are transformed into something almost magical. Chef Matt’s creativity and Autumns touch and care shine through in every detail, reminding you that food is more than nourishment; it’s an experience, a story shared. But the soul of Thrive goes far beyond the food. It lives in the quiet beauty of the farm, where you can feel the earth’s energy around you. It lives in the people—Matt, Autumn, and their team—whose passion and purpose are evident in everything they do. There’s a generosity to this place, an unspoken invitation to slow down, savor the moment, and connect to something real. When I create content for Thrive, I try to capture this essence: the soul of the farm, the stories behind the plates, and the undeniable warmth of this place. Because soulful storytelling isn’t about making things look good; it’s about making people feel something. Thrive leaves you feeling inspired, grateful, and deeply connected to the land and the people who make it all possible.
This is an experience you don't want to miss! The setting is beautiful. Each dish is creatively and thoughtfully prepared using local ingredients. Matt and Autumn go above and beyond to make this a truly special experience.
Our meal on Sept 21 2024 was our second time visiting, and they blew me away yet again! Every plate of our 6-course meal was beautifully and thoughtfully composed, (without pretentious use of tweezers, which to me was refreshing!), celebrating many locally-sourced or on-premise-raised ingredients. Chef Matt, his wife-partner Autumn and Thrive are the next-generation Staedlander Farm - but more budget-friendly without compromising on value/quality and ambience. Speaking of ambience, their set-up is Instagram-worthy pretty! A perfect romantic date night destination, and gathering from other guests’ reaction I witnessed, I know they’d agree. Including few shots I took with my phone.
This was my second time visiting this magical place. The food is absolutely amazing. Every part of the dining experience is well worth the trip. The homemade sauces and the firepit right out front, where most of the food is cooked. I will be back every year as our family has now made this a tradition.
What a lovely and delicious dinner experience! Truly farm to table! Went here with a friend - both of us celebrating our birthdays together. Started with a fresh sourdough bread (so soft you can devour several pieces) and yummy zucchini jam. First course was a potato based dish but the stars were the grilled cucumer and leek ash. Next came the beautiful courgette tart - a masterpiece in floral display. Pie dough is made of purple basil. Base of the pie is ricotta, lemon and honey. My fav of the night! Third course was rainbow trout over beans sauteed with lovage, Vidalia onion puree served with purslane salad. This is followed by a lamb ragu with beet mallareddus. The palette cleanser - lemon basil sorbet - was refreshing with a nice hint of basil flavour. The main course was a mild tasting grass fed lamb over a carrot puree and an aracini filled with peas. Dessert was a creative lavender milk custard surrounded with lavender meringue pieces, black walnut bits and blueberry infused jellies. I''m not usually a dessert person but this was so light, not overly sweet and has a balanced variety of textures. Every dish was well thought out, the flavour profiles of each ingredient matched each other and seasonging was spot on. The floral themed table arrangement gave an elegant yet rustic feel. Bravo!
The epitome of decadence in a rural setting. My best friend hosted her wedding reception at thrive and Matt and team went above and beyond to make it not only special but absolutely delicious. A custom menu with things in season, info on what you were eating and where it came from and an absolutely stunning back drop. Whether it is for a date night or a special occasion you absolutely want to experience thrive!!
Thrive is a beautiful experience that I would recommend to everyone! The owners put so much effort and love into their work and it shines through the delicious food and stunning garden atmosphere. Norfolk is lucky to have this gem!
This is a very special night. This was our second year attending and we look forward to it with great anticipation. The food is always delicious and prepared with incredibly fresh ingredients. The atmosphere is so welcoming. Autumn has an amazing aesthetic with everything being perfect from the table decor to the edible flowers. Not to mention her sour dough bread and desserts. All so good and wonderfully presented. Matt is one of the best Chefs and we are lucky to have him in our area! A special mention goes out to Tyler! A wonderful young man who is embarking on his baking career. We wish you the best of luck.
My second time enjoying this experience in August with my wife and wont be the last!!
We had an excellent time at Thrive. Each plate was a work of art and the atmosphere was really special. You can tell how much love is put into this experience. Would highly recommend!
Really enjoyable experience. You eat right in the middle of the garden where most of the food is grown. The owners are clearly dedicated and passionate about their work. The food is great.
My wife and I had an unforgettable experience at Thrive Norfolk! From the stunning setting to the exquisite food, every detail was amazing. Such a unique experience, the food was amazing.
An amazing one of a kind culinary experience that I would highly recommend. You ll need to reserve a spot weeks in advance but so worth it.
What a treat! We had no idea what to expect but the experience was far beyond our expectations. From the caring, pleasant, upbeat atmosphere to the impeccably prepared food; it was just a wonderful and amazing evening. On a beautiful summer evening we enjoyed being served some really wonderful food in the setting of the produce garden at tables tastefuly prepared by Autumn, who also prepared some delicious sourdough breads and desserts. Matt, the chef, along with his apprentice prepared much of the food, including some delicious trout, duck and vegetables over an open wood fire. I could go on, but it really is an experience you should try for yourself. Highly recommended!!
Outsanding foods. Chef definitely put love in his cooking. Multiple course meal just enough sized with things you would probably never try anywhere else.
