Marathon used to be one of my favorite restaurants. Havent been in about a year. I recently pick up my usual chicken souvlaki plate and I must say, everything has changed. The salad dressing, the rice...even the portions. Everything was very different. I was really disappointed as I used to love the food there. ====UPDATE ==== Ordered take-out again today for the first time since our order in May. I was hesitant since the food then was very disappointing. Im happy to say everything was amazing.! Just like it used to be!

I want to say, I went and bought two large chicken loose meat plates and came home and had pork meat. I was very disappointed. I called in and spoke to Alexia who was very understanding and offered to compensated me by Giving me a whole new order ( the right order) for FREE! I was super impressed. They never do that elsewhere. Thank you guys!

Amazing restaurant. We had our sons birthday+ family thanksgiving there and Katherina was amazing and she was so patient with kids. Thank you for being incredibly helpful. Highly recommend this place.

You get what you pay for. Dont expect the best but for the price youre paying its not bad.

Good morning, I have been a loyal customer since the restaurant opened. I have always loved the service and the meal. I didnt like the change to the garlic buns. These have been my familys favorite for years. We understand that the cost is expensive, but some of us are willing to pay $5 more to have this. I hope you will consider and put it in the menu as extra THANKS

Still as good but big disappointment to receive my bread with the tzatziki starter, the one before was so much better. just for that Im not sure Ill come back

I have been going to Marathon since the beginning over 4 decades Removing the original bread for pita isn t the smartest move. The bread should be put back immediately even if the restaurant charges for it. Food

EDIT The prices have gone up from 12,75$ to 20$ for the souvlaki pita plate and the quality has downgraded. Tiny piece of feta (today it was 2mm thick) less vinaigrette sauce, less black olives, etc even the candy at the end. We used to come often but we cannot afford to come as often and we now share a plate and buy a second pita. . This is our comfort food. Delicious greek food, affordable (which is rare nowadays) and quick service. I always have the souvlaki (pork) plate with Marathon salad and half & half (rice/potatoes). If you prefer to have the greek salad, the tomatoes are so fresh and tasty, you won t be disappointed. The only downsides to the Laval location are the parking (very limited) and the A/C is too cold (we re always freezing).

The restaurant probably doesnt need my thanks, as its reputation is already well established. When a parking lot is full, that says a lot. That said, Ill add my two cents: excellent food, delicious, polite, courteous and fast service. A very nice experience, thank you all for this afternoon.

Always the best. The only problem is they dont serve garlic bread anymore. And I have been going there for over 42 years and I have always had garlic bread with my meal. Im sorry but Phil would be turning over in his grave.

This place has not changed in like 30 years - and thats a good thing. Still, for my money, the best tzatiki in town. Portions are ginormous, its an old school Laval Greek family restaurant. Parking is a bit of a pain. Service is fine, though could do without the annoyed look when asking for modifications. Also free refills on the sift drinks would be appreciated. The pitas, salads and pikilia are all fantastic. Vegetarian options: Couple vegetarian options, at least theyre theyre trying. Not vegan-friendly though.

Monday evening, I order 2 plates of skewers, 2 Greek salads for delivery. I get 2 pita with 4 small pieces of dry chicken inside...the salad?...only tomatoes, onions. I recommend ordering elsewhere!

This Marathon is the original and where it all began. If you grew up in Chomedey Laval in the eighties, this was an institution to you. The amazing thing is that they havent changed the food since. Eating here is like going back in time. Great food, great service, great price. Theres a reason that they are still here and still busy, so many years on.

Fast, courteous service and simply too good food

I ve been to Marathon several times over the last 30+ years and it s always been excellent.

Compared with the other restaurant in Blvd Décarie.....this one is more simple....

Waiting time sooo long! Too much oil in the squid, I was sick after my meal. Try to offer another choice: Grilled squid.

One of the best skewer places, very large portions, very good, good service, nothing to complain about....!!! only criticism during dinners the infernal noise people talking screaming laughing loudly... people think of themselves in their living room ...to have peace rather have dinner or eat in the express section in the other building, otherwise you eat stressed and you cant wait to go out at the end....

This place is so amazing. The staff is super friendly, the place is very clean and the food is incredible. Coming from someone whos greek herself, this is authentic Greek food and tastes so delicious. The meat melts on your tongue and the Calamari is a 10/10. I definitely recommend this place if youre looking for great greek food.

Everything is good at Marathon. Its no mistake to order the gyro pita, the chicken skewer, the tzatziki and the spanakopita... and what about the Marathon salad! It is unique and delicious. What I like most about Marathon is their welcome and their smile. Both the hostess and the men in the kitchen. Everyone greets you and smiles at you. A rare commodity these days, but which makes the difference for me.

The food was better than ever. The service was as usual, spot on perfect. The only thing is the noise level, a little too loud for me. Overall the best souvlaki anywhere.

Ordered online and went inside for pick-up, and they sent us around to Marathon Express entrance for pick-up who told us to go back to the restaurant entrance for pick-up of the delivery. Once having returned back to the restaurant for pick-up, all the individuals in the kitchen/behind the counter were smirking at us, without any apology for the mix-up they had. Despite the good food, we will surely not go back with the poor service received. Many other souvlaki/gyro restaurants around with better service. Parking: Limited and very tight.

I did a take out order. I love marathons but my god they are getting cheap on the rice and fries in a chicken pita plate. Come one guys there is. Irving cheaper than rice. Don t give me a little round cup of rice fill it up like you used too!

Take-out meals are not of the same quality as what is offered in the dining room. For my part, I really like chicken fingers. I got charred chicken fingers on 2 occasions. I dont recommend them.

The price, quality, taste, and speed of the service is unmatched. with these crazy times in increase of prices everywhere, this place has barely gone up in price and the portions are still really good. Service with a smile, very outgoing and so speedy Always packed, expect to wait 20min , but the experience is worth it I recommend the loose meat gyro with he marathon salad Delicious!!

Took forever for them to make my Gyro! Wait time was a bit excessive.. But all in all a good experience.

Always consistent. I always order the porc gyro pita and enjoy it. Only complaint I have is why are the tomatoes, cucumbers and onions cut so big for the salad.

Ive been coming to this restaurants for many years but i had went this Saturday night and what could I say ... Martha our waitress made our night ... food is always amazing but her services was impeccable... very welcoming , quick , amazing personality and always had a smile on her face ... will definitely ask to be in her section next time I visit again :)

Big let down. Grew up in the area and this was the go to place for Greek. The food was sub par and nothing tasted like it used to be. Rush rush place the food on a plate and serve the customer. It s about volume now at this their first family run and owned restaurant. I could not believe it. I left over most of my food as it was it even tasty and the protein in the souvlakis we ordered had fat in it as well. Can t believe they are still doing (lots) of business. Have people lost their taste buds or don t know any better?? And what happened to the lovely family that used to work the line and cook amazing food?? What is going on here that the dollar supersedes quality and taste etc. Anyway much better places to eat like Greektown grill. W place me and my grandma always order food from them and it gets delivered very very fast ( don t use DoorDash or other stuff they have driver ) order directly from them. For the first time we went in Saturday and it was a very good place but we only ordered appetizers because they were very big. Portion are big very clean place and waiters are very friendly

I am a picky woman with food. But know that I loved everything! The food was fresh we had the choice of with or without an ingredient. I didnt want an onion and I didnt have any! I highly recommend this restaurant. I will definitely recommend! I would just put a small downside. Added salad with your threesomes, fights... See you soon Marathon!

This place has been great since the 70s.

Used to come here almost weekly when my family used to live in Laval; since then, we moved and my father passed. Came back today with my mom and the food is just as good today as 20 years ago. We also had wonderfully excellent service by Gregory - he is one of the most attentive and sweet servers I ve ever had and he helped make mine and my mom s experience truly lovely. Thank you to everyone at Marathon for being a consistently excellent place to enjoy delicious food!
