Excellent restaurant; had a great time with the family

1st time there, pasta were below ordinary, entry of grill calamary was ok, good service, the bring your own wine saved the day, a bit expensive overall.

We had the arancini, shrimp pasta and mushrooms tagliatelle. The arancini were not cook enough, the risotto was crunchy. The shrimp pasta were okay at best. And we had to send back the mushrooms tagliatelle. We did order the ravioli con carne instead and it was very good. The food was disappointing but the service was not. They were fast, efficient, welcoming, friendly and helpful.

First time in this place, Sunday morning, for a buffet brunch. Honestly, I only give it 2 stars because I was surprised by the number of reviews with 5 stars otherwise I would have given 1 star. My experience was simply that I didnt eat well at all, and I was even more disgusted by paying so much for not eating well... Honestly, I dont know what happened, since I noticed the effort of the servers everywhere... I think I had a bad day, a party next to me, a party upstairs on the second floor...it was crowded and messy Its a buffet, but for the majority its someone who fills your plate, so its not a buffet...or is it a buffet but another type of buffet???! I dont understand anything... In any case, the presentation is there, the beauty is there and the effort is there...but I didnt eat! My coffee was cold because I had to wait a long time for my omelette...no one came to refill it since we arrived, my partner had to ask for water!!! I wanted a certain cake in the display (the cakes looked wow), so I passed by there twice in the hope of intercepting someone, but I left without eating any cake :) In the end, what is important in a restaurant, especially a brunch buffet, is to EAT WELL and taste everything you reasonably want, but when what you want is not accessible even impossible to get it, I dont think it should charge that much, otherwise at least offer table service! Summary of things, it was horrible, me and my partner will remember to pay so much and leave on an empty stomach Obviously ! This remains my experience and I would like to emphasize that my opinion concerns the brunch buffet on Sundays THANKS :)

We went there for a work dinner and had lots of fun . The food was excellent and the service as well . I took the ossobucco which was exceptional for both the quantity and quality . The key lime pie was delicious as well as the cappuccino!

Picked up some food for takeout. The staff was very friendly and the food was fantastic. We got the pancetta pizza, gorgonzola pasta and the arancini.

We were invited to celebrate a friends birthday at this place - neither my wife nor I had ever been at one of these restaurants, and I have to say, that while it was far noisier and crowded than I would have liked, the service and the food was excellent. We were a table of 12 or more and everyone ordered something either slightly different or completely so. Our waiter was polite and high-spirited and he made the experience worthwhile. I had a Caesar Salad and a fancy pizza, while others had Ossu Bucco or other equally interesting dishes that required a good cook. They didnt disappoint! I took some of the pizza home, but everything was wonderful, everyone enjoyed themselves, and given that it is a BYOWine type of establishment, the orders didnt break the bank, despite that they were slightly higher priced than I am used to. Everything has gone up this last year about 3 fold, so I wasnt surprised. I dont mind paying for something which I can enjoy - its paying for something that disappoints that gets me angry! No anger here - everything was delicious. Bring some earplugs if you are going at regular hours, and enjoy! soon, you will be tasting something wonderful and the sound will fade into the background as your tastebuds begin to celebrate!

A good restaurant for team parties, families and couples. Diversified menus. A beautiful decoration, even white birds which mean freedom, beautiful paintings which express greenery. Finally the toilets are mixed and clean. THANKS

Went for Sunday brunch with my colleagues. Everyone had such a great time and was very pleased with the food. There s quite a few selections to choose from. There s even a chocolate fountain for dessert :)

Great place for brunch, one of the rare real Sunday brunches, excellent lunch part, however food not very hot, lunch part with roast beef, very good mussels, salads, pancakes and exquisite desserts. Definitely worth it, impeccable service.

Disappointing experience to say the least. While the service was good, the food left a lot to be desired. The lunch meal came with an appetizer and dessert, which was a nice. However, the tortellini rosée I ordered was truly underwhelming; the sauce tasted overly acidic, without the creamy balance youd expect in a proper rosée sauce. It was honestly one of the worst I ve had. The minestrone soup, however, was enjoyable, and dessert was passable, though nothing to write home about. Overall, I wouldn t recommend this place if you re looking for quality Italian cuisine.

I had the immense pleasure of being served by a great boxer, Vittorio Salvatore, when I went to eat at Portofino de Laval with friends before a Laval Rocket match. The experience was exceptional! This waiter, whose boxing past is impressive, offered exemplary service and great courtesy. We were served like kings, with unparalleled attention. He even took the time with us to share some anecdotes from his boxing journey, while continuing to serve other customers with admirable professionalism. At one point he interacted with a friend and fan from the time, which added an even more memorable touch to our evening. I warmly recommend this Italian restaurant for its unique welcome, Italian food and for the incredible experience we had. Thank you to the entire Portofino de Laval team for this unforgettable evening, and of course to Vittorio for his generosity and his Italian charisma! Wow

Am I asked to describe my experience? ? What experience are we talking about when they didnt even let me celebrate my partners birthday. I had planned to reserve the mezzanine for 50 people and the owner thought I was too demanding to want it when I wasnt even spending enough money. 50 people who were going to eat around $50 per person so I was going to spend around $5000 and he thought I was asking too much because I wanted to be on the mezzanine. Result: I got out of there and promised myself I wouldnt put my foot there again. Dear owner...not everyone is made to manage customers...next time stay in your office it will help. Surely I wasnt the type of customer the restaurant was targeting. I apologize for being too poor and too demanding for you. And please be consistent...you are talking to 3 employees and you have 3 different explanations.. Just in case youre interested...we celebrated very well and yes there are still people who respect their customers even if it brings them $10. NEVER AGAIN....

I take the time to congratulate all the staff as well as the manager of this restaurant. Yesterday noon I was able to enjoy the Portovino Laval brunch for a reservation of more than 40 people and everything was impeccable. The restaurant was packed. The food was fresh, the service amazing despite all the requests and the place was clean right down to the toilets. The chef even accommodated for an extra portion of cannelloni. I recommend this place with family or friends with pleasure. Thank you again and see you soon.

Price a little high for pasta and pizza. But bring your own wine probably justifies it.

Very noisy and dont be in a hurry

Food was frozen then heated . That s what I believe !!!!! Pescatore plate , pizza margherita crap !!! Not worth it at all . Service was terrible . Never filled up our water , no bus boy, nor waiters . 230$ for cold food that took 1 1/2 hrs of waiting . What a disaster . Surprised my wife for our 29 th anniversary. It was better at MONZA !!!!! Never again

It was a business supper with colleagues waited 45 minutes to order than waited 75 minutes to get the food which was cold and the meat was not cooked the way I asked had to ask twice for a steak knife we asked the waiter to speak to manager he never came can honestly say the worst service and the worst food ever also it was a slap in the face that the manager never came to apologize or even offer anything it will be the last time ever at this restaurant they do not care for their customers

We had a reservation at 6pm. We waited 2 hours to receive our dinner. The server apologized, saying the kitchen had prioritized a group instead of the tables in our section. The whole section was discouraged by the wait. We asked for follow-up and he told me Ill wait until after the kitchen, except that the food arrived cold, poorly cooked. We mentioned to the waiter that we were not satisfied, he told us that his manager had been notified, but that he would not come to see us. What a lack of respect. I will never return to this restaurant. At $69 per table dhôte its a very expensive price when the food is not good and the management doesnt even take the trouble to come and apologize. Last time for me there!

I went there for the brunch service on Sunday and I dont regret it at all, I had a very nice experience, outstanding service. Its the place for a brunch with family, friends, lovers and even a birthday brunch. The food was delicious and fresh.

Ridiculously Overpriced!!! We ordered a grilled octopus as an appetizer. In the menu it says clearly: an entire octopus. It was 27$ for three small tentacles. I didn t take a picture thought. I kinda regretted going there. I don t want to go back. The only thing I really liked was the service. Our waiter was a really nice man.

Overpriced, most of the clientele was senior (there was actually a 65th bday going on). We were there (11 people) for my friends bday. Its a BYOB which is nice but overall the food is not great. I had to run to the restroom barely 15 min after I finished my meal bcuz I felt funny (tummy ache). I ordered a salmon tartare (the 36$ one); it was poorly served with fries and only 2 very thin croutons, soya sauce and a white sauce (ranch?). The waiter rushed us to pay and clear the table, he brought the check without offering anyone dessert or beverage (coffee, tea). We only had 1 water refill and I was the very last one to be served even though my food didnt need to be cooked (tartare). One person ordered the raviolis and there were only 5 in the plate. Another pasta dish the taste was faded with random ingredients not harmonious on the palate. 3 people from our group liked their food: gnocchi, tuna tartare and the carbonara were decent. Definitely NOT going back and I DONT RECOMMEND going there for special occasions. This restaurant is the one replacing the Vieux-Duluth or Casa Grecque.

I had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant last Saturday to celebrate my wifes birthday, and we had a great time. The place is very clean, which is always nice. The pizzas and pastas were delicious, prepared with care. In addition, our server was very friendly and made our experience even more pleasant. We will come back with pleasure!

Just wow! A tour of the incredible buffet with the owner whet our appetite, then savoring the fresh seafood of the day and the melt-in-your-mouth roast beef won us over! Finish with a crepe suzette and a mountain of fruit dipped in the chocolate fountain: yum! To avoid spoiling anything: bring your own wine!!

My husband booked for my 50th birthday. We were 28 people. We all ate well. The staff were pleasant. A little expensive but the quality is worth the price. My only disappointment is that the macarons decorating my cake mysteriously disappeared. Probably in the waiters stomachs. The slices of cake served were so tiny that we only ate the top part.

Reserved the table online. When we got there, they could not find a reservation despite the confirmation email received. They managed to give us a table though. Food quality was about average. Food presentation below average. Only grilled octopus was testy. Alcohol is not served. You will need to bring with you. It wasn t clear through website. Bathroom floor was almost flooding. I booked Sunday June 30 for a group of 47 people for a 60th birthday for twins!!! Laura who explained to me how it worked was very professional and very flexible with everything! The service on the night of the party was excellent! Our servers Lucas and Niko as well as the busboy Ryan, really delivered!!! They served everyone almost at the same time despite an a la carte menu. Wow! The dishes were well presented and the food was good! I recommend this place for all your private parties. They are pretty nice but will ask you to get out at the 2 hour mark. Not for you if you wish to relax and linger with friends.

Went for the buffet Brunch on Sunday (55$/person; includes tea/coffee). Service is A+ by all the staff, be it at the table or the food sections. Food was fresh and they replenish fast so there is never a lack of. While the food was not mind blowing, it is above average. No waiting line even at noon. Menu online is true to reality. Would recommend to try it out, if only for the amazing service!

I went for dinner on a friday. The restaurant was empty at 5pm and the staff were all gathering near the kitchen to chat. It took a long time to the server to give us water and to take our order. I was disappointed in the Caesar salad because the lettuce was wet and the dressing flavorless. What disappointed the most is that this appetizer is 9$ and tasted like that.. As of the Salmon tartar, it was decent but I felt like it was missing flavors too.

The food was amazing. Generous portions that you don t often see at Italian restaurants as well. Their bread was really good too. Our waitress was friendly and well informed about the menu. I just wish she came by the table more often. The staff is professional. The owner is very nice. Lovely ambiance. I would definitely go back and try other things on the menu. I removed one star because it s very expensive to eat here. Many pasta dishes are $30+ and their entrées are pricey too so we opted not to order any sadly.. Remember to bring your own wine.

I had the lazania, very good, lots of cheese. It was 2 meals. I tried the mussels too, with blue cheese sauce, very good and fresh. The servers are fantastic.

Visited recently for the first time, and what a pleasant experience! As soon as we entered, we were warmly welcomed by the owner and staff. The setting is cozy and invites you to relax. We opted for several dishes, each more delicious than the last, highlighting fresh and local products. The chef clearly has exceptional talent, each dish was a treat for the taste buds. The service was impeccable, attentive without being intrusive. Special mention for the dessert selection, which perfectly complemented our meal. A place that I would definitely recommend to those looking for authentic flavors and a memorable dining experience. Looking forward to coming back!

Went for the brunch buffet Sunday morning. The quality of the food that was being served was so much better than other restaurants I ve had in the area that offer an all you can eat brunch. Loved the flambe station and mini canollis the most! But all the food was very good and the service was completely on point. Will go back!

Prime location next to the metro. Not recommended for privacy and quiet but relatively well managed. A nice bring your own wine!!

Probably the fact that it is a byob makes it worse, but the food is highly over priced. Big quantities with only decent quality. The kids pizza is not even the same as the adult pizza (it tastes like a cheap delivery pizza at best). Otherwise the place is nice and the staff is good.

Good lunch spot for a Sunday morning brunch. Make sure you find the seafood medley. Key tip at a buffet is to circle the buffet and check everything out before loading your plate. The desserts are excellent.

The service was excellent but i was charged $35 for a plate of pasta when the menu clearly indicated $27. Once home I realized their mistake and called the restaurant only to be told that there was no pasta dish on the menu at that price. Oh, I must have dreamed it. Won t go back.

I had made a reservation on line but unfortunately I was late so I called the restaurant to let them know and was told it s fine. We arrived at 2:30 so we ordered our food and once we received our appetizer at 3:05 pm , then we were told that we must go for 5:00pm. (We were not told or asked if we wish to stay before ordering that they had a schedule )There was no indication on the reservation online or when I called to say we were going to be late that we had a 2 hours block. As we just finish our desert A waiter YELLED time to leave from another table and he didn t even come to us and it wasn t even 5:00pm there was still a lot of tables not occupied Spoke to one of the manager , (says he was a manager) and he was also very rude. For the food I found it was very expensive for what you get.

What a festive atmosphere last night. We heard Happy Birthday songs at least 4 times!!! The hostesses at reception were welcoming and warm. Our waiter Nicholas was attentive, funny, efficient and friendly. The food was amazing. We ordered the brie with caramelized onions and steaks (cooked perfectly) and the mashed potatoes were heaven. Went there for the Sunday brunch with my wife and 2-year-old. The food was amazing I was afraid good food at buffets was a thing of the past. It isnt. Atmosphere was real nice very welcoming staff and the manager (owner?) was especially nice talking to us and rounding the whole buffet with us to help us avoid certain items (my wife has some food restrictions). Highly recommend the place. Dietary restrictions: If you are halal or vegetarian, you will find many menu items that suits you

When I booked the reservation, the girl on the phone specifically told me they only offer 2 services. One at 6 pm and one at 8:30 pm. I booked for 6 pm and the table was reserved till 8-8:15 the latest I was told. We were 6 , they placed us on the second floor, no issues, they even asked if anyone had reduced mobility. We were reminded every time someone came to our table that we had to leave at 8 pm. After 10 times of hearing it, it got annoying. We kept telling the waiters we know , we understand, but still, every time someone came to the table, it was repeated. It wasnt even 7:30 yet, and the waiters kept coming to ask us if they could take away our plates. My friend next to me, with her fork still in her hand , clearly hadnt finished. Why even ask if you can visually see her eating her tartar. I got the veal with vegetables instead of pasta. The vegetables and sauce on the veal were good, but the pieces were very small. They tried to mask it by the abundance of sauce covering them. It was 3 pieces about 2 inches by 2 inches. One friend felt sick right after finishing the arancini. The salads were drowning in salt. All in all, it was a bad experience on all our parts. They didnt offer coffee or dessert. Brought us all the bills by 8 pm, and we left by 8:07pm, went somewhere else for coffee and dessert. Honestly, I found it overpriced for the amount of food. Payed 58 $ for a main meal. It is a BYOW restaurant but I think they charge more because of it. I told our main waiter that they didnt need to keep reminding us we had to leave by 8:15. We are adults. He told me, dont shoot the messenger. Clearly, the management instist they keep reminding customers. He also told me they dont tell customers at the second service at 8:30 because they dont need to , its the last service. Im assuming big groups dont have a time limit because the birthday party behind us was still there when we left. We wont be coming back. For the price and atmosphere, I can name 10 restaurants in centropolis and carrefour laval that youll have a better time at , food , price and quality.

This is our 3rd visit. This time the owner exceeded our expectations to offer a service suitable for people with dietary restrictions, like us, we do not eat pork. He made sure to go around with my parents to show them what they could eat. My parents already want to know when Im going to bring them back to Portovino!

Shout out to our server and the manager (Sunday night), I came in with a difficult list of allergies and they managed to create a custom dish that was both beautiful and delicious!! The food here is all cooked fresh, from scratch and because of this, they can customize dishes for those of us with allergies. My husband and son ate dishes off the menu which they loved. The portions are generous, the fresh baked rolls are amazing and the ambiance is quiet elegance. Restaurant dining with talented, professional staff is a joy, the food is great and this is on my list of favorite places.

Much too expensive for pasta (spaghetti) the food was good. Luckily it was brought your wine otherwise it would have cost a lot more $$.

Great restaurant experience for my boyfriends surprise 30th birthday. We booked last minute due to a change of plan and they took us in without hesitation with less than a weeks notice. There were 39 of us, everything was ready at the agreed time despite the busy Friday evening. The service was efficient and fast, the guests were very satisfied with their meal. I recommend!

I don t usually give 100% but when it deserves it, I will give it for sure. I really had a good time. The service was amazing. The food was amazing. I took the fried calamari and a regular Caesar salad. Both of my meals was fresh. I adored the calamari it was so good 10/10 service was so good. I wish I remembered his name but he was so nice to us. The atmosphere was really nice. Also one thing I really liked about this place is the toilet. Usually now we have the mixed toilet that im not really a fan of because of the lack of privacy , but even though it was mixed, it was Private enough there s 2 side one for ladies and the other for man with a separated mirror.. I loved it and wait time was supposed to be 30 minute five minute after we sit down they came and get us so honestly speaking I give a real 100% great experience congrats Portovino !!

For dinner, Very good service, calm atmosphere. Very good restaurant for a BYOB. The meals are generous. Very good restaurant! But it s the best brunch I ve had! Expensive price but definitely worth it! I will definitely go back there for brunch, it s my favorite.

High class restaurant. The food is of good quality. The steaks have good texture. The oven appears to be wood fired as the smell of the steak was a bit burnt but the taste was good. The service is courteous. Good place to gather with family or friends. The atmosphere allows for good conversations. You have to raise your voice a little so that someone at the end of the table of eight can hear. The dining room is clean. The restaurant is located on the first floor. Parking: The parking lot is large. That being said, Place Belle is right next door. On show evenings, the parking lot in the center where the restaurant is located fills up. You must therefore park the car quite far away and take a walk to the front door. Wheelchair accessibility: Restaurant accessible to people with reduced mobility. Restaurant located on the first floor, large area with plenty of space between tables which makes it easier to move around.
