Very nice Mexican tapas restaurant, really good for sharing! I tried the tuna tostadas and it was really an excellent dish and surprising in terms of taste!!

I was disappointed :/ It wasnt what I expected. I ordered today...I dont know if its because it wasnt a good day but I dont recommend it.. For the price I paid the portion wasnt great!

Do Not Go There !!!! I havent witnessed a worse customer service in my life!!! We got there at 8:30 and the waitress didnt want us to sit because she wants to leave early. She started by saying our kitchen is going to close in 30 minutes and i told her that it is okay with us and then she said yes but we are slow tonight so we prefer to close early . Of course you are going to be slow if you are pushing customers off She literally asked us to leave because she wants to go home early. This is Unacceptable and if there is an owner that reads this ...now you know !

Dont waste your time AND money at this restaurant. First and certainly the last time we visit this restaurant. We wanted to try the tasting menu at $45/person. The waiter instead offers us a premium menu at $55/person, not yet on the menu, saying that the dishes served will be the best and most popular on the menu. So we decide to go with this option. Drink de la muerte not drinkable, I didnt even drink half of my glass. The starters that were served to us were the most basic starters from the starter menu: guacamole, salad and a corn muffin to share. We were already expecting at least to have a ceviche since we will remember the premium. Meals: pork ribs and el general chicken followed by Korean-style and cod tacos. Frankly the taste wasnt there... really too tangy, it really wasnt good. We were literally served the last dishes that we would have personally chosen and nothing fresh. Finally, 3 churros... not cooked inside and the chocolate was hard so difficult to eat. Including the dishes received following this disastrous experience, it came to a total of $99 for 2 people for food and $15 for drinks per person, or a value of $65 per person WITH a drink.. It literally cost us $92 $ per person.. what a scam. I really dont recommend it and Im really disappointed with their customer trap with a premium option that is ultimately extremely cheap in addition to not being edible. Service: very long, more than 30 minutes between services, never again, I didnt even bring the dishes that had been put in a take-out dish.

I went to this restaurant for the first time to have a drink. Then I went back twice to eat. Every time, the atmosphere was pleasant, the service adequate and the food excellent. There is such a thing as too much fusion ... Not every dish and drink on the menu needs to be fusion cooking. Also, 10$ for a draft beer or 15 for a mojito is insulting. The food was okayish, but for the price, I was expecting much, much better. The server was adorable, and the back terrasse could use some music to cover the car noises...

Not my first time eating at an escondite restaurant but this was my first time in Laval and i was not dissapointed. Great food and nice atmosphere. My server Sara was very nice and made some good suggestions when i was trying to decide on something new to try. Highly recommend.

The Escondite experience, everything was very good, we ate more than our fill, the employees were great. The restaurant being quite small it doesnt take long for it to become noisy but not unpleasant at all.

Excellent welcome from Salma, a true dynamic and attentive Mexican. She has great interpersonal skills. For our wedding anniversary, we were treated to a dessert offered by your house. The starter with guacamole is really exquisite and fresh. Good portion. A perfect place to be with friends or groups, but for a romantic dinner, its more or less. I see this as a style of meal suitable for a young clientele. The tables are too close together, its annoying. Beautiful decor. Noisy place though. THANKS.

The service was good until dessert time. No one had informed us that there was another reservation for our table at 8:30 p.m. People arrived early around 8:20 p.m. and our waitress told us we had to leave while bringing us our bill. I had just been served my dessert. They didnt give us time to finish eating and started to pick up our table while we were still trying to quickly finish our dessert. A big lack of respect on my part.

We ordered the Baja and the Pollos Hermanos and they were both so spicy it was not enjoyable. Menu mentioned nothing about it being spicy. Also the water that was provided was warm. Portions of 2 tacos are small for 12$. Service was fast and friendly at least!

Very good Mexican tapas style restaurant. Perfect for dishes to share between two or a group. For two people, we ordered: the shrimp ceviche and the gioza as starters, then the cauliflower tacos, the New el paso, with tempura shrimp and fried chicken as well as a cilantro margarita. Everything was delicious. It was a little expensive with a bill of $110 + tip. The shrimp ceviche is more like cocktail shrimp revisited, but very good all the same. The shrimp (medium) and chicken (mild) tacos were spicy. The cocktail too. Besides, the cocktail selection was average with only margaritas, about half of which contained chili. The service was excellent and very fast. The restaurant is very cute too, nice atmosphere.

This is the 3rd time that I really liked it, the porton tapas are generous and the service is good and fast.

Really disappointing. Its been about 2 years since Ive been there, Im a regular at the downtown branch and Ive always taken the Baja. They were never hot spicy. I order guacamole as a starter and I specify without paprika. Then I had to turn my tacos because my mouth was burning. Also, we were seated at the back of the restaurant with a very large noisy group next door who, despite warnings from the waitress, would not be seated. Once we intervened ourselves, two waitresses were whispering to each other while looking at us... it was a big lack of professionalism. In short, a bill of $95 for two people for a festive dinner which lasted 35 minutes given the tiring atmosphere and the bad food. Very disappointed! I wish I didnt have to pay my bill because the experience was so poor.

Solo business traveller coming for a weeknight dinner. Well positioned across from the Hilton hotel. Tacos and cocktails are unique and have great presentation. Staff was fast and friendly. Would recommend for a casual meal alone or with a group.

Okay so I got the pastor tacos ,the ribs and the an alcoholic drink miss paloma. The pastor meat was not original idk they are good but not good enough,the ribs sauce was delicious but they added way too much u couldnt taste the rib meat at all and the paloma was not good.

Very busy place. Food is good, almost actual mexican food. I didnt like the guacamole, it looked a little to green , almost florescent. Service was great. They do 2 servings a night but if you get there at 6 PM for first service its plenty of time. I would go back.

The food was very good, but way too expensive for very small portions. We spent $90 (2 people, 1 drink each), and we left still hungry. That isnt normal. Only once we were sitting at the table were we told that its a tapas theme restaurant. Their website doesnt mention this. If it was, we would not have made reservations there. That feels sneaky on the restaurants part. The ambiance and service were great. I would give this place a higher rating if it werent for the unreasonably expensive prices for such small portions. We had a great experience at Escondite Laval! We were a group of 20 people and everyone was happy with the service and quality of food. The staff and manager were very attentive and accommodating! The group menu was also reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend if youre looking to celebrate a birthday or any occasion!

As soon as we pass through the doors of this restaurant we are transported to Mexico, the decor is magnificent! For dinner we opted for the tasting menu and we were completely won over! I recommend it to you, without hesitation. Really good food, favorite for the mango salad, and the cod tacos

Very disappointing experience; we ordered the Escondite experience. Regardless of whether the price is worth it or not (which personally I think it s overpriced for what we got), the food taste was less then average. We got a cucumber salad (not impressed at all with the taste) a guacamole (maybe the only minidish that we could finish), 4 small tacos (pork and beef very dry) and ribs which was average. Seeing the stars given by other people who actually ate there; I am very surprised and disappointed. The staff did not even distinguish which platters were the shared ones and we had to guess. My personal opinion: i do not recommend this Mexican place neither for the food nor the ambiance (we had to cut our dinner short because of the 1hr30min service which you might want to consider if you are reuniting with friends and don t want to be rushed!)

The three Escondite restaurants are not hidden and all three offer excellent food, a very pleasant atmosphere and friendly service. I just discovered the one in Laval and it offers more space and the same dishes as the others.

Great atmosphere, excellent food, delicious cocktails, really everything is perfect at Escondite for a great evening. We had the pleasure of being served by Sara, who is incredibly kind, she was able to advise us very well both in terms of dishes and drinks and we can clearly see that she likes to take care of her customers. My friend and I loved our evening and we cant wait to go back :)

The little one with blue eyes and blond hair (Justin I think) offers great service, worthy of Laval. I highly recommend.

When I took my first bite of their nachos, I saw the holy light. I was surrounded by angels. I could hear the trumpets. My life flashed before my eyes. I witnessed every moment that led me up to that very moment. When I snapped back to reality, those nachos had already made sweet SWEET love to me twice. AND tHAT WAS JUST THE BEGINNING. Their tacos. I did not think these flavors were even possible. I was killed beautifully and reborn and baptized gracefully by their tacos. It was a moment like never before. This is what love feels like. And that love was found here, at Escondite, behind a bar, being served by an angel of a bartender. I wanted to spend the rest of my life and grow old with this meal. I wanted to be buried beside this meal. The only thing I could ever complain about this place is that I cannot stay there all day.

The shrimp Taco is definitely my favorite!!! Great drinks, food, and vibe ! A must try! Parking: Its in a mini outdoor strip so plenty of parking.

If you are looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant this is not the right place, however if you are looking for a bar with a Mexican theme and Mexican inspiration in its dishes you can have a good time there

Do not go there with children and especially do not go there in a large group. Very disappointed with the service we had booked for my sisters party and the service was stupid, no service and we seemed bothered more than anything else. Very disappointing!

This is THE place in Laval to eat very good tacos. They have a lot of choice and lots of little tapas on the side: The guacamole is super good, the chicken wings super juicy, the mango salad is really excellent. The only dish that I liked less was the Ceviche which I returned and the waitress did not ask me why I was returning a dish almost intact: I would have appreciated it if she had asked the question and it was given to me still loaded even if really, it was hyper acidic and lacked taste: this is not my first Ceviche.

I loved this restaurant. I went there very often. Unfortunately with the number of franchises there are, the food is no longer what it used to be. The last two times were disappointing, its no longer the same quality.

Friendly Mexican-inspired atmosphere. Modern tacos, sometimes more traditional but more often reworked. They dont hide it, but it can be surprising to have chipotle with strong accents of paprika and curry (turmeric) in the preparations. Its good, a little expensive. Great time as a group if youre not looking for traditional Mexican cuisine.

Escondite the name is appropriate. Where are they hiding the food? lol it should be advertised as a tapas resto. 2 miniature tacos for 11 or 13 dollars is pricey, don t get me wrong the flavours are good. I asked for a plate of chicken tacos to go, I got a foil box, the size of a brownie. Restaurant looks nice, staff very friendly, the vibe is good. If you don t have a big appetite then this is the place for you.

Im a regular here, but believe me yesterday if I hadnt held on, I would have gotten sick. Notice to all celiacs be careful!!! First of all, the waitress kept saying that the nacho chips that I had been served were gluten-free... WRONG... I followed her into the kitchen so much that I knew it. After she was right, her service was slow... it was obvious that I pissed her off. I insisted easily 3 times. At least that evening, she will have learned something... The irony is that she took back the chips with gluten after my friends got into them... Seriously, youre making the mistake, you leave the plate and you bring the well thats all!!! Then, I think it was the owners who were there.. OMG they were talking loudly and reprimanding a few employees.. In short, I was disappointed.. Dietary restrictions: Celiac disease (gluten)

The reception of the dishes takes a little long, but the tasting menu is definitely worth trying. Unlike the majority of restaurants, it is not obligatory that the whole table take it, and above all it is chosen according to the server and the tastes of the customer! Very affordable too! Parking: Many restaurants are in the same location, so very little space available during peak hours!

We had a craving for Mexican food and Escondite didnt disappoint! This was a busy spot at 6:30 on a Friday night. We highly recommend making a reservation, we didnt, as a result we were seated at the bar, which since it was just two of us worked out great anyway. The bar staff were attentive and helpful describing the menu. For a starter I ordered the Margarita Media Noche, which came in a glass rimmed with cinnamon and salt perfectly complementing the citrusy cocktail. For an appetizer we chose the Atun Tostados and then for the main course we shared a platter containing a selection of Tinga Tostados, Al Pastor Tacos, Baja 2.0 Tacos and E Steak Koreano & Nopal Tacos. Everyone of them were excellent!

Very disappointed with my experience, I am told that the order will be ready in 30 minutes, So I arrive 30 minutes later, once there the order is not ready and they do not know when it will be shes going to be ready, so I did 6 km round trip for nothing. No one can give me an explanation other than that they are very busy, I would have liked to know that at the time of ordering and give me the choice of going or not, I would have preferred them to tell me that they are too busy and cannot take order.

Decided to try this as I am a fan of Mexican food. Sorry to say, what a disappointment this was. Had an entree of ribs. Sauce was delicious but the meat was disgusting. So fatty. Some quality control is needed on the meat you receive from your supplier. The tacos again were good in taste but these were the size of my palms. $11 for 2 of them and no sides? I could easily eat 10 of these. Sooooo.......I paid for my little dish and my gf (almost $70 with tip) and then I went down the street to 3 Amigos and had a decent meal for $40. I had a FULL meal there after I ate at Escondite just so you can understand what you are getting for your $$. I feel this is more a drinking hole with sides than a meal place. Would have been okay for me maybe 40 years ago lol Sorry, wont be seeing me in here again. Overpriced for very little food. Merci

Amazing food and great quality

I am a fan of the Escondite concept, I have visited several of their restaurants several times but I was extremely disappointed with our experience at the Laval restaurant last night. The restaurant has two services, 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. I took the trouble to call a few days ago to ask if there was the possibility of staying later than 8:30 p.m. if we went to the first service and I was told no because both services were full. So we booked at 8:30 p.m. When we arrived the restaurant was half empty. The waitress was arrogant and gave us attitude from the start. There were 6 of us and we decided to have the tasting menu. Knowing the menu well, there are a few dishes we would have liked to have included. The waitress refused to accommodate us, and finally agreed to include two of our favorite dishes after we insisted several times. The dishes arrived very quickly because we were suddenly informed that the kitchen closed at 10 p.m. Why have service at 8:30 p.m. in this case, and offer a tasting menu? Everything was rushed. When she brought us dessert and we asked for coffee, she told us not to push our luck, that the kitchen was closed and it was impossible to get coffee. We agree that it has nothing to do with cooking and that you have to press a simple button to make coffee! I am extremely disappointed with my experience and have no desire to return. Its really a shame but the poor quality of service ruined our evening.

The food is quite good. I do not recommend The Escondite Experience to share which costs $40 per person, because it is too expensive for the quantity served! The quantity is for one person, but does not matter the number of people, you are charged 40 $ each and the quantity remains the same. In all the restaurants where I have eaten, the sharing plate has a fixed price. Alcohol is expensive too!

First and last time. Tacos no taste ask for a Mexican hot sauce to add flavor to my dish the green sauce does not sting ask for another stronger sauce it brings one like Chipotler does not sting ask for the other stronger one and to be sure of have a good mexican sauce plus tabasco. There are 11 people at the table. We like it spicy so ask for more sauce 2 other sauces. Returned to the bill for the sauces charged first times I go to a Mexican restaurant and they charge for the hot sauces just to enhance the taste a little on the plates brought. And the waitress at no time mentioned to us that the hot sauces are not were not included and had fees. Inflation hurts you that much?!?! I give you 1 star just for the margarita special

Very nice place, but being a person who does not tolerate spicy food well, I was not able to enjoy the dinner like my loved ones. For someone who likes that, this restaurant is made for them ^-^

Decent mexican cuisine in a very cozy restaurant. The waiters are very helpful and friendly. The vibe is fun and the margaritas are on point. I recommend this place for a friends outing. Vegetarian options: Various vegetarian options available. Dietary restrictions: Waiters will ask you for dietary restrictions and will accommodate you.

The atmosphere is nice, but those sitting near the wall were hitting their heads on the decorations attached to the wall. The service was very good. The food was good but didnt impress me. We took the tasting menu not only to sample everything, but since we were told it was a lot of food, our expectations were high. We have a good appetite. I wasnt really hungry anymore, but my colleague would have had another service, thats for sure. Slightly expensive prices for tapas. Vegetarian options: Some tapas are vegetarian (tofu, etc.) Parking: Parking shared with other businesses/restaurants so it fills up quickly at busy times and particularly at dinner. Kid-friendliness: There is an option for children, quesadillas (cheese tacos). A sure value.

Amazing service and incredible food

Great tasty tacos and great service but ultra expensif! We eat 6 mini tacos and just water for $43

The food is good and I really liked the atmosphere
