Some of the best Peruvian food this end of the city. Highly recommended it if you want some delicious food and great service!
Everything was amazing, I've been eating at the original place for a couple of decades now. I'm a big fan and I was excited to see the new location. I wasn't disappointed with food and atmosphere, the only thing I was disappointed about was they did not have TAP to pay. It's 2024, I rarely carry my cards with me. Luckily I was with someone who I was able to e transfer and pay for big bill.
Loved it. There were many staff members, so we were well served. 👌🏽
Great authentic peruvian food! Portions are big and good to share! It's was a bit noisy given that it's a family friendly place.
I loved Solymar restaurant. The food is D E L I C I O U S with a good number of options to choose from. The dishes are quite generous, so it is not necessary to order an entry unless it is to share. The passion fruit pisco sour is wonderful. We loved it. The service of the waiters is warm and friendly, as is typical of Latin people 👌 In general, it is an excellent place to enjoy the best of Peruvian food and a delicious pisco sour
This restaurant is huge, yet it is well-managed and efficient. Some of the dishes seem to be simple but turned out to be very tasty. For example, the mixed seafood soup and the steamed grouper fillet with beer velouté sauce have always been the must-order items on each visit. This place is surely on my list of frequent visited restaurants.
Amazing dishes. They offer delicious meal from raw fish to juicy meats. The ambiance is nice, but it is way too loud. They have lots of pictures reminding you of Peru. They have a very beautiful wine cellar.
This has been my first time in a Peruvian restaurant in Montreal, the truth is that I was a bit disappointed as it was not what I expected. I asked for an order of garlic shrimp 🧄 and they gave me a small plate with 8 shrimp for 25CAD order!!! also a ceviche that really wasn't that good... 2 beers and the total 98CAD. The waitress only came twice to see us, to take our order and to give us the bill. I expected something more from this restaurant! I wish they could improve the customer service and the food should be more proportional. the place a 7 in cleanliness 🧹!
Their ceviches are just a little too salty for my taste but really succulent and the portions are very generous. Very good address for those who like Central and South American cuisine.
Very poor value for money. Very salty and very unrefined. Very festive atmosphere if that s what you re looking for
The best Peruvian food I have had in Canada. The strip roast (rib) 10 out of 10. And the rice is bye, uff deli . Update 12/14/2024. It is still our favorite Peruvian restaurant. The goat is delicious, the pork chop and the sautéed loin are not far behind. 100% recommended.
Typical Latin American food
Very disappointing! I had a very unpleasant experience during my visit to this restaurant on November 30, 2024. A chair broke under me, causing me to fall violently. I had severe pain in my neck and arm, and my elbow is now very swollen. I was lying on the ground for several minutes due to the pain in my arm. Unfortunately, no staff member came to check on me or provide assistance, despite my loved ones requests for ice cubes and medicine. In addition, my daughter-in-law felt unwell when she saw me on the ground, and again, no one came forward. Finally, despite a reservation requesting a table upstairs near the wine, we were placed downstairs in a cold area. No follow-up, no commercial gesture, for a note of more than $900. An unacceptable and disappointing experience.
Very expensive for not much
Warm welcome. The waiter recommends a varied platter not seen on the menu so not considering the price :(. Too much breading not enough variety. The food was good. But in the end the bill was a little high, I think its poor value for money price.
Good food but overpriced.
If I can put -271 which represents absolute cold (the temperature of my plate) I will! Worst experience ever. Reservation for a group of 30 (I corroborate the opinion of the lady below) 2 hours of waiting to receive not a fish ceviche but a ceviche salt (600% daily sodium intake! my kidneys will have difficulty recovering!) Lack of coordination of listening staff waiting even for a simple drink (beer cocktails and other) for more than 20 min). And all on a Saturday! Montreal is by far the destination for sol y mar! Avoid Laval at all costs! ($32 a ceviche)
Worst experience! Reservation of around thirty people made in advance for a party and the staff in no way prepared! 2 hours of waiting for our meals and 1 hour for our drinks. Cuisine: Savory ceviche as if you dropped the salt shaker, same thing for rice and chicken. The downstairs dining room (basement) should not even be open if you are to neglect the customers there because you prioritize those in the upstairs dining room and especially if you do not have the employees to cover the service of so many groups at the same time. Not to mention the smell of toilets circulating in the dining room. You overestimated your ability to receive groups! Very disappointed with the service. After 2 hours of waiting for my meal, I didnt even eat and left the place. Go to the one in Mtl. Better taste and better service! Frankly. Ridiculous. Waste of time and money.
Nice place, nice food, everything tidy and neat.
Absolute authentic Peruvian food Good prices, great service Food
As always its delicious. The mussels were in good taste.
We were 5 at the table and the server was slow to come around because there were not many of them. Luckily.. the food came fast and it was all worth.
Very good service, all the waiters were very attentive. Spectacular place.
Parking: Boul.
Decent service, delicious food, everything on the menu is done to perfection! THANKS
Ceviche was terrible, tasted like garlic not true Peruvian ceviche and the yuca was uncooked. PERUVIANS, dont go there, THE YUCA WAS RAW THE CEVICHE TASTE LIKE GARLIC AND IT TOOK LONG NOT AUTHENTIC
The best Peruvian food without a doubt, excellent flavor, mixed fish ceviches, octopus, squid, very well prepared, delicious fish, a very cozy place, good service, excellent
Friendly waiter who explains the cuisine of his country to us and advises us on the menu.
Good food and lots of choice of dishes. Good portion received.
Excellent service
The food is very well prepared The service is very attentive, the waiters The cozy atmosphere Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp for wheelchairs
Great food, service and atmosphere!
Everything was great there
Its really not my habit to leave bad comments but I really have no choice. My family and I came to eat and the food was not at all up to your usual standards. The meat of the lomo Saltado was extremely tough and the chicken super dry and reheated I dont know how many times. You should really think about safety before you just think about selling. We all left there with a stomach ache and a heartache. My 6 year old son spent 10 minutes in your toilet with bad cramps and my husband was in the parking lot vomiting. I am so disappointed because although we tried to explain to you, you preferred to just hand over an invoice and make us feel bad for our dissatisfaction.
Delicious!
I arrived at 6:20am and had a class at 7:00pm. I take my order at 6:25. At 6:57, I am told if it is correct that I have to wait 10 minutes..... Did not take take out during the week. Strongly not recommended
The staff are wonderful and the atmosphere too. Can be very crowded at certain times. Exceptional Peruvian food. Very tasty and you have lots of choices. It takes time to get serve Food
Impeccable service Cesar a good guy
*** Entitled rude staff *** I called in advance to order take out. Once I got there the person handed me my food. Costed 45.95$. I gave him a 50 and he kept my money. I asked him where the difference is and he said its tip which I never said it was. He then proceeded to insulting me to one of his colleagues in Spanish. Got my money back but definitely wont be coming back. Who expects a tip for just handing you your order and also proceeds to insulting you. Speaks volume of who they hire and wont be coming back ever again.
Rude male server
If you want to be robbed by staff, this is the place to go. Be careful when paying because some might have the audacity of putting their own tip without consent. Rude staff. Robbers. Food isnt that good either.
C expensive.
Good
Pricey Peruvian food. Was surprised by appetizers at dinner prices.
Food was incredible bathroom was scary too be honest the white sauce that they give is so delicious, not that type of white sauce anyways food was good place was clean its really good
Very good to spend my evening with family
Legit are scammers. Didnt have interact and had to try and transfer my money with them. Sent them the money twice and it didnt appear on the managers phone. Had to give american money to pay. Only to find out that they did recieve the money and took both transfers even after paying them. For a 40 dolar meal, ended up costing me 120$. These people cant be trustes
Much better congratulations
Delicious Peruvian food... exquisite seafood jelly, chicha morada....
Thanks to MIGUEL ANGEL EXCELLENT WORK
The meals are very expensive, it is an abuse of the clientele in the excessive charge an off ense to the Peruvian tradition Food
Nope, never again.. average food and horrible service
Spectacular to surprise your girl, romantic, cozy and super delicious food . Delicious drinks
Everything was delicious: the Ronda Marina, the Lomo Salvador and the chitchat morada.
The food was delicious. We will definitely go back again.
Waiting 2 hours for food because they decided to pass groups that arrived AFTER us.
Service 0. Today July 14, 2024 mami and I arrived, we were given one. Without menus. 25 minutes later, we asked a waiter who was passing by, who gave us one. But almost 16 minutes later we had no one taking care of us. Seeing this we decided to leave and no one spoke to us.
Delicious and good service
The attention and atmosphere were unbeatable, but what I ordered, grilled solymar, everything was excessively salty.
Very good Peruvian restaurant. Delicious food and very good service
Disrespectful staff
Beautiful place to eat, impeccable service, varieties of tasty dishes.
Super good service and incredible bouffe!!! We were 20 people, we had super good service and very delicious food. Recommended !!! Parking: Great parking Kid-friendliness: Haute chaises
For a dinner for 12 people, very friendly, lovely atmosphere and overall good evening. The service was impeccable, perfect servers. Nothing to say, only good things. The kitchen was very good too. The points that spoil this beautiful picture: no bread (Well no... The one in Montreal has delicious bread.. not the one in Laval), there is a Mussels Festival announcement on the door, mussels are neither on the menu nor in the kitchen, too bad. That evening, it was an evening with a dance floor... Great music... After 10 minutes they came to tell us that if we wanted to dance we had to pay the cover charge of $10 per person dancing . Honestly... Its not strong. Its not for the 10 that we would have paid without problems... But when booking the dinner nothing was told to us, and once there when we have just had dinner for 12 people, we are made say to pay to dance (our table is 1m from the floor). The gesture was disappointing. Very disappointing. Without that.. we would have danced until closing ordering lots of alcohol. They would have done much more than 10 cocer charges. Instead, everyone left a little disappointed with the outcome... We will most likely return to the one in Montreal. Once again, the service was impeccable and the food very good! As long as you dont want bread or mussels or dancing We hope things change and we will return with the same great pleasure
The place is very good, but it takes too long to serve the dishes even though I went with a reservation. During the almost hour wait for food, they served us a lot of water. Obviously, the lady who served us was friendly, but she did not speed up the arrival of the dishes. The food was well served, full of potatoes for those who love carbohydrates and good seasoning!
First and last time We were around ten people and all disappointed All the dishes were cooked in advance dry chicken skewers of dry heart dry fish and whats more the prices are exaggerated for what they were. Only positive the singers!!!
Very expensive and the food doesn t have taste
Delicious!!
Today the room service at Sol y Mar Laval leaves something to be desired. The employees are chilling and eating McDonalds. They are sitting at the table just at the entrance to the dining room with their bags of food and their glasses of McDonalds. Its the first thing you see when you enter the restaurant. I think it has no place. Maybe I went to the wrong restaurant and should have gone to McDonalds. If the service had been impeccable, I might not have said anything. However, we waited to be served, to refill our water glasses, no request if we wanted a 2nd drink, nor a dessert. In summary, the service lacks customer attention. Eat, wait, pay and dont bother the employees.
High prices for a meal that is not worth it, terrible service, and the waiters told us not to order grilled chicken because it is ugly.
This restaurant offers you a warm atmosphere. There is a very wide variety on the menu. The mussels, Férou and filet mignon were delicious. The service (Javier) was friendly and professional. I recommend this restaurant.
Thats lovely
It was really great to taste our food so far away from home. Great service and big portions.
The food was super good, the quantity was really a lot for the price it was, the waitress was nice, I will go back. Parking: Free and available parking
The food was exceptional, staff was quite friendly and multilingually adept (our party consisted of English, French and Spanish speakers).
We went this 10 May and the waiter was rude, almost forced to serve and my husband had a reaction to the food, it was UGLY AND HURT US. Definitely wait for our complaint in quality control .
Booking for Mother s Day supper. I ask politely if they have an special menu for Mother s Day and if I could find it in the web or Instagram? The girl on the phone very rude Said I don t know and cannot tell you is not my job I m not the waitress. I was speachless. I felt really bad like if I was distrurbing her.
The
Second time we visited this restaurant to celebrate Mothers Day, with a group of 14 people, there was an error on our part in the reservation, (Sunday was in 8 days) However, I found it sad that the employee who told you receives and verifies the reservations did not have the attention or empathy to even try to help with the problem and be able to solve it. With a rather despotic and mocking attitude, he invited us to leave because our reservation was not for this Sunday. It left us a lot to be desired because we as Latinos try to support local businesses and unfortunately due to bad employees, we lost our taste for this place. (It was 1 pm and there was more than half of the restaurant empty, with a cardboard box of reservations )... Lets visit places where we are well received and appreciated. On our part there are no visits or recommendations for this place.
On May 11, 2024, in the basement: - Disorganized and very slow service, group of 4 served separately. It took at least 20 minutes for us all to be served for this dinner. - Same for beverage service. - Foul food, mussels served raw and the waiter said he noticed it but, without any other action and especially reaction. The lobster meat was brown and the cheese browned on top was perhaps intended to camouflage it. The garlic butter was instantly nauseating. Undercooked fries. The filet mignon followed the rest in quality. We returned our dishes thanks to a % discount on our invoices. Still too expensive for barely started plates. A lovely wasted evening. In short, very bad first experience and the last. However, the restaurant was very full. There is clearly something that went wrong because with such a lack of quality and service, this restaurant would already be closed.
Special du midi is the best
The lemonade brought ants, a very unhealthy place, the little court is missing and brought cockroaches first and intimate time
There was an ant in the lemonade, what an unhealthy place!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT AT ALL
Great food, good service
The place is nice, but the staff pretended they didnt speak English and the most annoying part they had no menus! They ask you to scan with your phone. What a joke.
Peruvian restaurant specializing in seafood and grills. The decor is beautiful, the interior is very large and vast on two floors, the choice of color of the walls, lighting, benches and others is beautiful and arranged. There is room for everyone. As soon as you enter you can feel the cleanliness and the good smell of good food. The service is very fast, the young waiter is polite and very attentive to customers. The menu is through a QR code here is the link to the menu: https://qrco.de/bcK9Mo (see in my photos) The plates are well filled and the portions are very generous. The taste is just great! Everything is good and tasty. The yellow rice is delicious and the seafood is very well cooked, very well marinated, very well prepared and well presented on the plates. The homemade Peruvian chicha drink is a delight, in addition to being made with healthy foods that are good for your health. Parking is free and ample. I will definitely come back because it was a very good and beautiful experience. You can take away leftovers so as not to waste food. Their round coconut dessert cookie is good but you need coffee or tea with it because it dries your mouth. But it s still very good too! I recommend it! Vegetarian options: There are very good salads Here is the link to the menu: https://qrco.de/bcK9Mo Parking: Large, free, available Right in front of the restaurant door Kid-friendliness: Its very large so the children have the space to sit quietly and let the parents enjoy the meal.
8 years ago, I went to Sol y Mar at Saint Laurent, and the service was slow and expensive, I have no idea how this restaurant get so many costumers in, Anyways, today I gave another chance to this restaurant in Laval, and again.... they kicked me out because I made no reservation, and the excuse is the same.... no enough staff, bla bla bla.... May be is time to pay more to employees, instead to pay the minimum salary.
Good restaurant, good menu, unfortunately not so good service. The girl forgot the drink, and after forgot the water, she said she is bringing and after a while i needed to ask someone else there for water. Rarely these days to receive a good service somewhere, consideriong these prices that are going higher and higher and waiters expect always big tip, 10-15$ start not to be enough for them. Why is this rule 15% if you have bill 200$, it means 30$ tip. Come on, lets be honest...who pay taxes there?
Good food, excellent service and wonderful atmosphere. I love their Soursop juice, its delicious.
I bought a special chicken to raise and the chicken looked like it was from the day before, it was hard and tasteless, what a bad experience...I dont recommend it
EXCELLENT
Super rico! Well cooked and seasoned; homemade mayo and hot sauce were delicious too (although maybe could have been a bit spicier, or have a spicier option). Ordered Lomo saltado, pollo a la brasa, and alfajor and all were good. Alfajor was a bit too dry for my liking, but the coconut shavings on the side were a very nice touch. There was a live band that was going around singing to tables and it was really fun!
Its the first time weve come here, the staff, the service, the food A1, everything perfect thank you very much! We had a great day
Fresh and tasty food. Generous portions and attentive staff. We will return there for sure!
Dynamic family atmosphere, unparalleled service. And plays typical and to the taste of the house in good proportion.
Beautiful atmosphere, seafood specialty, $$
Pricy. Small portions for a Peruvian restaurant. The taste was excellent. One time visit for us. No regrets.
Excellent service, fast. The food and service is hot and good.
Excellent food and great service. Ive been to Peruvian restos all around MTL/Laval and though others might be cheaper, this one is easily one of the highest quality. This one is also really big which should be great for large groups. I highly recommend their Jalea or Seco as two of my favourite dishes Ive tried at Solymar.
First time trying Peruvian food:) everything was super well seasoned and so tasty! The staff is so lovely as well
Delicious food!! The servers are courteous, however, on the weekend (Saturday) parking is difficult to find and service is very slow given the number of customers so you have to be very patient.
Excellent
We had a great time at Solymar celebrating last Sunday my daughters engagement surprise party sourrended by family. The staff accomodate us for small details like décor we wanted to include within the soirée + the possibility to brig our cake. The food was AMAZING!!!!!!! Everyone enjoyed it .Thanks so much to make last Sunday an unforgettable experience for our families.
Here is the family portion???? This is theft ! Its even insulting. With the number of Peruvian restaurants, I would have some nerve to offer this kind of dish with so little love and for this price. Definitely, last time in this restaurant!
The food is very delicious. Very nice place. The detail was the answer by phone. The woman who answered was very unpleasant but everything else was great.
Food
Positive point: the chicken is grilled. That was the end of the positive. Negatives: Service: apart from a waitress...difficult to have service in French and the music was so loud especially when you had to pay..the music became so loud as if they were pushing us to leave.it was very unpleasant. The antichuchos (beef heart) very bad. Very rubberized. Not tender at all. Im not Peruvian and I make them better at home. Terrible quality filet mignon. Arroz heated: meh...for the price over $28 its not worth that. Really tasteless. Rice, few vegetables and a bit of chicken (when you find it) In the assembly...go elsewhere...its a shame of Peruvian cuisine. Cash...thats what only interests them. And the tipping suggestions at 18% and 20%....and when you want to select 15% its a disguised 18%. Not honest. Do not recommend at all. Paying too much for what its worth...and its worth nothing.
Its good but its also a Meh
The service was friendly but very slow. The ceviche was ok but not authentic Peruvian. My husband had the steak and enjoyed it. Fries were under cooked. Drinks were very good but took far too long to arrive. Only one bar tender for such a big restaurant. Papas hurricanes arrived cold. They were heated in microwave and were had cold areas
Great restaurant . The food is really fresh . Very good service . I highly recommend it ! And; Our waitress Ashley was awesome and she was very cute . U cant go wrong.
Great sea food restaurant.
Took over 2 hours waiting to get our plates Excuse was a big group is in the restaurant No drinks for the wait or anything not even an apology... And food was not very good. Like if they cooked them in a rush
My salad tasted good, but you have to remove the labels from the vegetables!! And sincerely I hope that the same ones havent been washed! Customers should also be advised that the peppers are really spicy! You could cause a respiratory problem in an asmatic client. BE CAREFUL OF THIS!
Our host Patricia today was excellent. Which make me give the 5 stars. Howerver in other ocasions we have waited to be attended. While the staff is talking (reason why i give 2 stars only to the atmosphere) until we asked if we can be seated.
We ordered two personal jellies, they gave us more onion, a lot of cassava and no squid, very little and a really bad shrimp. I recommend the ceviche 71 restaurant better, it is much better
The place prepared for Valentines Day, very beautiful, excellent service and best of all: the food, well served, made with love.
Excellent ambient, very original music, live music and great service. Parking: Plenty of space to park.
Excellent place to spend with family and for any event. Recommended!!!!
We loved it!!!!! EXCELLENT food!!! EXCELLENT atmosphere, you feel like youre in South America. EXCELLENT service!!!
Personally I liked the food, I will definitely go to this restaurant again.
I discovered this restaurant in Mtl more than 15 years ago. We decided to go and celebrate my husbands birthday on December 23. As usual, the service and product quality were number one. Try the pisco sour, its a delicious and refreshing cocktail.
I liked everything. Everything is very rich. I recommend the lomo saltado, it is very good.
Overpriced. Not even good for the price.
I am from Peru and I know what it should taste like and the portion size vs the price ... BEYOND RIDICULOUS!!! Avoid this place at all cost, its not WORTH it!!!!
I know Peruvian cuisine very well and I also know the portions and for the price, its NOT WORTH IT AT ALL!!!! The Jalea is WAY too overpriced for the small quantity! This is absolutely ridiculous!
Very large menu... maybe a little too much. With a large menu like this, sometimes you wonder how fresh the food is. Service was ridiculously slow! Food was Ok... I mean it is good but I believe it can be better. If you havent had a taste of Perú this is a good place to start. But then again it can be better.
Generouse serving. Great food. Went on lunch with my wife on my birthday. If you want to dine, look for Yasmin. Very accommodating and friendly. Great service.
The paella is very good even on delivery!
That will be for next time!
Very expensive place for the amount and quality of food they served. I expend almost 30$ dollars for a cocktail de camarones for a take out service and I found out at home just 6 shrimps and one half bowl with pink sauce. I know cost of live is high but this is an assault.
The dishes are delicious. The steak, el lomo saltado and the ceviche, succulent. The server helped us a lot with our choices and our questions about their dishes. The atmosphere is festive, but the music a little too loud. Solymar in Laval gives us plenty of parking space, which is better than in St-Hubert. Very satisfied.
Went there for the first time last Saturday and it was late, around 10pm. Our waiter didnt rush us at all. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and the wine list. His recommendations were spot on. The food was very well presented and delicious. There is an overall happy vibe in the restaurant. We will definitely be back.
Everything is really ok except the music which is a little loud. Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free or lactose-free options Kid-friendliness: Not really suitable for children. No childrens menu
More than good
Great restaurant!!! service with William the best My first time and not the last
I come to pick up my order and it turns out that they never prepared it and no one gives me a reason. Cancellation
The music is always VERY loud, the food did not have any type of flavor, it tasted like oil, the fries taste like oil and are not good, that is if the Pisco Sauer are exquisite
Fish was old and the food tasted disgusting We returned all the food back to the kitchen and the after taste makes me want to vomit Maybe because we went on a Monday and they don t serve fresh food on Monday The other branch on Jean talon is much better
The restaurant forgot to pay the heating bill...come with a good parka and thermal clothes.
Me and my boyfriend went to Solymar in Laval for the first time. We had 2 drinks, a squid starter and an oyster starter with lime, tomatoes, cilantro and onions. For main course we had braised chicken and beef chop. The strawberry margaritas were very good. The oysters were way too cold. The chicken was not braised or charcoal cooked at all and the beef chops had way too much fat and not enough meat. The mayonnaise was extremely runny and tasted like nothing we didnt touch it for fear it would be rotten. I think the menu contains too many dishes which makes it difficult to perfect each of their dishes. The service was extremely long...we had to wait at least 20 minutes before someone brought us the bill. We asked for a sauce and it never came. On the other hand, the employees are nice. For $141...we definitely wont hear it.
On Monday we went to celebrate a birthday as a family, unfortunately the waiter who served us was flirting with my partner, she was uncomfortable throughout the entire stay in the restaurant, we asked for a change of waiter but each one was assigned tables. Otherwise the food and the place are good
They force you to pay the tip they want.
Very good services
Very slow service.!!
Delicious
Food was INCREDIBLY GOOD i have to say it, staff members were very kind and an overall good atmosphere. I highly recommend + would return
The food is good but not spectacular like Peruvian food. We really feel it dearly.
I went there yesterday for a birthday! The food was good as was the service.
Excellent... No words are enough to define these dishes, I highly recommend
Recommend! Tasty food, private easy parking , friendly staff!
Since November 25 I visited this place everything was fine until the bill, because of their new payment system I had to pay my $80 bill twice and it is now December 21 I have not still not been refunded, every time I call they tell me yes we will refund you but still nothing, I understand very well that problems can happen but it is December 21st so 1 month later, still no refund and when I call the gentleman on the phone is very arrogant. Entk I wanted to come back with a group of people to eat there soon but with a lack of respect like that, it doesnt give me the taste. THANKS! Wheelchair accessibility: Nothing to say
