La Taverne in Laval

Disappointed with the service at lunchtime (35 minutes of waiting before taking our order with 12 customers inside) upon receiving us at the entrance, we were told that the menu prices were exceptional (High Price of Range) no bench available with 2 free supposedly Reserved We are asked to scan the QR Code for the menu and 5 minutes later we are brought a large menu on a tripod to tell us that the QR menu is not valid . Its unfortunate that the service staff are so clumsy with very good quality of food served. Bravo to the Chef of LaTaverne but it was a missed appointment with the very average service staff. We were celebrating a 49th wedding anniversary for this Lunch which will remain a disappointing choice. Chez Lionel Brasserie française, which has knowledgeable and passionate staff with food of comparable quality, will remain our choice on the next occasion .

December 29 around 9:15 p.m.: Pascal s hospitality was GREAT! The waitress (I forgot her first name) was very friendly. We received very good service at the bar. Next time we will try the food menu. Thank you Pascal for the welcome!!!

I really liked my experience yesterday. Courteous, flawless service. Our server gave us good advice and we were really attentive. Thank you very much to Pascal for welcoming us. The drinks were tasty and the food was excellent. I recommend it without hesitation!

We went in the tavern ...waited 15 min with the manager looking at us and didnt care? So we left.....the worst way to run a resto pub

Service to improve! Poor room and kitchen organization. We had reservations for 16 people at 7 p.m. We received our drinks about an hour later. Meals arrived in groups of 2 or 3. The last plates arrived at 10:30 p.m. We would have liked to spend the evening celebrating our friend instead of waiting to eat and dealing with orders that didnt arrive. Lets just say it spoils the mood. I give one star for the waiter who was running around and constantly apologizing. Oh yes...Avoid the tiny flank steak with the pile of fries at $38!

We are trying the Tavern for the Wednesday comedy evening. Unfortunately, the microphone didnt work so at the show without a microphone we could barely hear the artists... The food was soso (tartare and vege burger) but the service was good!. The pinnacle of 1 star was when we paid the bill, there were 4 items more expensive than the price displayed on the menu on our bill. Since we had paid they couldnt do anything for us...!? NO paper menus so CHECK your invoices.

Very expensive for the dishes we had. The lobster tail was so overcooked that we couldnt get it out of its shell.

Good food, good show!

A toxic and uncomfortable atmosphere reigns in this restaurant. The manager yells at the staff while drinking beer straight from the pitcher.. half of it pouring down his chest. His shirt was buttoned in a completely soaked blind. Employees struggled to serve customers. Shots were handed out to customers to ease their frustrations. No help was given to them by the manager. We leave the restaurant with a bitter taste in our mouths. Aside from the oppressive show on the part of the manager towards the employees, the food and service was good since our server and his colleagues kept smiling all evening. Good luck to all employees!

The food is ok but in terms of service its extremely long, the sangria only ice cream inside. I wont go back there.

From the start, the service was extremely long, group of 15-20 people we all arrived between 7:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m., at 10:00 p.m. half of the group had finished eating while the other half were still waiting for our plates ..? The food was quite ordinary, disorganized service, we had to ask for the bill 2-3 times plus there were errors on it, once again long and poor service, always having to run after the waitress for everything!! (10-15 minutes after asking for the bill, the waitress had a drink and chatted with other customers .) In addition to a $150 bill, I spent the night vomiting thanks to food poisoning.. !! (And no its not because of the alcohol, I didnt drink a single drop all evening.) Anyway, Im not a difficult person but its definitely our worst experience ever in a restaurant, and I will never go back there. *update, 3 other people in the group also got sick*

I had reservations for 6, I was refused entry because I had my kid with me, restaurant is apparently 18+ but nothing was indicated on the reservation site. Ridiculous

We reserve a table on a Friday for our first visit. The menu looked very interesting with lots of choice and the prices more than reasonable. In fact it looked so good that I thought there must be a grip. Once there, its disappointment after disappointment. The stool seats are almost dangerous because they are so unstable. I wouldnt have imagined it would be less balanced after a few beers, but in the end we remained perfectly sober because its impossible to get served in this place. As several others have mentioned, the service is a big 0. The service is so atrocious its ridiculous. We were seated at a table located literally 15 feet from the bar and after 25 minutes no one had come to offer us a drink. The room was half empty, no rush, and we saw a lot of staff walking around or staying behind the bar without doing anything. And the worst of the worst; the manager on duty this evening was also 15 feet away, perhaps less for the duration of our wait. Really not serious. It was so bad that I couldnt help but go see her and tell her how insulted we were by their terrible service and we went to spend $150 each at the Baton Rouge next door.

We were looking for the Couteaux tranchés restaurant which had moved. The Internet gives us this number, this address. But on site, only the name La Taverne is registered. In short, we searched for a long time. The service was long, a little complicated, like in rotation... We went there with the aim of going to Les Couteaux Tranchés, but did not find the quality of service or the atmosphere we had hoped for. Although the dishes served to us were good, several meals from the menu were unavailable. Tapas restaurant, everything was served to us at the same time very long after ordering. For this price, I will look for another equivalent restaurant. That said, my youngest came away saying it was one of the best meals of his life.

We arrived at 7 p.m., a group of 12 people. When we got there, our table was not ready at all. There were no servers, only a bartender. Our glasses tasted almost nothing and there was glass. We got our food at 8:45pm . Cold tasteless really. Really bad service, no smile, they didnt even come to see us. Bad experience, it was better with the previous owner.

I dont understand the bad reviews our experience was perfect, the variety of the menu was great with even a vegan and alcohol-free option for me, the staff super nice! I was so looking forward to it... To begin with we had reserved for 7 p.m. and the girl wanted to make us wait until 8:30 p.m. because she had placed people without reservations (and she also told us so ). With great insistence I ended up at a table for 6. By the way, a nice presence for the girl who welcomes us would be appreciated. Dirty white sweater, no hairstyle, in short, class was not part of the evening. I should have left at that moment. You indicate a DJ... I was expecting a fun evening, with good music that makes you smile. Well, were going to come back for this segment too. The sangria was good, the fries too, the lobster roll was disgusting, the ribs were just fatty, 3 mouthfuls of meat. The restaurant does not live up to the website in any way. We had to go back for our girls night out and were sure thats not where well go. $260 for an hour of Im disappointed at the moment I find it really boring.

Over priced not recommended

Decided to give this place a try and I m glad I did! Really enjoyed the vibe (music + food). I got the La Taverne burger and it was tasty. They also have quite abit of options for vegans, which not many restos do, so that s a plus. Will be returning to try out other items on the menu!

It is very hard to find a restaurant that can accommodate vegans and carnivores but la Tavern did just that! Amazing food for plant and meat eaters. The staff and service was fantastic. Our waitress Jessica was a real gem!

The waiter was unfortunately too busy taking shooters and selfies with his friends at the bar. He forgot to bring us some stuff and we had to wait forever to get greeted and we could even hear the kitchen folks ringing the bell a few times because our order was waiting in the kitchen. We understand the staff shortages, its unfortunate that our wait was due to the waiter. Food is not bad and the place is very nice. Were definitely not going back. If you go late in an evening, I dont recommend it.

WoW Amélie introduced us to her favorite drinks. The atmosphere is perfect, the food is good and the staff is great. 4th visits Olivier gave it 110%. Every time I have been to this restaurant I have been impressed by the service.

Unfortunately would not recommend this resto to anyone. Food at best was mediocre and lacking in flavour , appearance and overall satisfaction. Portions are horrendous as is the service. I would definitely tell people to steer clear of this place.

Best atmosphere in town to celebrate the weekend, the food was perfect, plus our server was great!

It all starts with a call to make a dinner reservation. No reservations possible given the traffic. We can show up around 1 p.m. since the 1st table should be over. (Almost an hour later than we had planned) Once there, the restaurant is empty. Out of about 50 tables, we can see 5 customers seated. The meal was ordinary (salmon-beef tartare and filet mignon gazpacho), the waitress never came back to see us to offer us a drink or to ask us if the meal was to our liking. We were given water initially though.

Avoid! The food is good except for the salmon tartare which seems to be frozen. The service is mediocre from A to Z, the waitress never came by during the meal, so I never had a napkin, we had to go see another waiter to get and pay our bill. It also seems that this is the only restaurant in QC that has been told by Health Canada that they still cannot have a paper menu. During our dinner we saw an elderly couple sit down, wait a while then leave after being answered by the waitress..

The food is good, but the service was slow... I had to go see the waitress at the bar to get our bills since we had been waiting for 30 minutes to get them.

Beautiful atmosphere, super sharp waiter Worlds.... Unfortunately my glass of wine was as hot as a heatwave... The table given to me was not washed and the lady at the entrance, as pretty as she was, did not impress me by letting me choose my place and not taking me back to my place... Beef tartare good portion! The problem is that I dont know if Im going to survive tonight or not... it had a bit of a weird color and it was lukewarm... anyway The pandemic has hurt restaurants so much... I dont understand why its not yet on the mark for customers...

I have to say that this place was a bit of a big disappointment....lets just say that the food edible cause I was starving...I had the burger (the 1 choice)...the bun came out of the bag, not heated or toasted, the patty was a burnt dried up piece of meat, no toppings except for a slice of some kind of cheese and no taste all for 22$....but the worst part of the evening was that all 15 people came to the conclusion that the booze is definitely watered down.... seriously Im not saying to be mean or sarcastic but we were there for a bday party and we all ordered different drinks and especially the shooters...just terrible when your tequila and Jack Daniels dont taste like it... The place itself has a good ambiance, the service was acceptable but they are friendly...the music was good, too loud for their sound system so it sounded a bit distorted...but we still had fun.... I dont highly recommend ....there are plenty of other places....

Good place for lunch. Normally before 6 it is not very crowded. The service is good and provides good options for vegans around the area. It is recommended for meetings between vegans and non-vegans, as it offers both options.

Its been a long time since Ive been disappointed like this with a restaurant. Service so slow. My Mac and cheez was lukewarm. The steak sauce was cold and his steak was lukewarm. I dont mind paying $130 for a restaurant, but I expect it to be up to par and it wasnt.

Worst restaurant experience. Although there were around fifteen of us, the service we received was deplorable. There were 4 of us who ordered a starter and we received them AT THE SAME TIME as our friends main meals. What restaurant does this? It took about 30 minutes after everyone had finished eating before the 4 of us received our main meals. Apparently the waiter seemed to have forgotten us. No apologies for the delay. As if that wasnt enough, I took the La Taverne Burger which although it lacked seasonings, it was relatively good. On the other hand, having almost finished my burger, I try to taste the coleslaw and find myself with a HAIR stuck in the back of my throat. My boyfriend alerted a passing waiter and left with it. Our waiter came back offering me my burger at half price to compensate, saying that I had eaten half of my burger and that he couldnt do more. Only, it was in the next door that I found the hair so how could I have known that there was a hair there without having tasted it? I was taken for a thief even though I had received disgusting service in addition to finding a hair on my plate. I finally got a free burger that I couldnt even eat in its entirety, leaving me wondering. my hunger. Truly, I have rarely had such a disastrous experience in a restaurant.

Mega service

My wife had a dozen raw oysters, and I went with 12 wings with bourbon sauce. Both were tasty and well presented. 1 suggestion for the owner: a finger bowl or wet-wipes to accompany the wings would be much appreciated. The wings are well sauced - but not over sauced- and napkins cant quite do the job. Next to La Taverne is a micro brewery beer store. The beer selection of the restaurant is somewhat limited. If the laws of Quebc allow it, adding a selection of Quebec micro brewery selections in La Tavere would really enhance the offering. We liked the ambience of the restaurant, and if we lived in the area wed be regular patrons. Vegetarian options: The menu offers a number of vegan options. Parking: Establishment is attached to a large shopping Centre, plenty of parking is available. Wheelchair accessibility: Fully accessible.

The atmosphere was very good, the service as good as we lost our place at the bar for a cigarette. The eclectic music is perfect to please all audiences. The lights just dimmed enough were nice. As for the food, the price/quantity ratio of the nacho was ordinary, especially since the cheese was not melted and it was still cold. The portion for the ravioli was generous but they were burnt on the outside and not quite hot on the inside. I still recommend the place for a dinner with friends or family, very pleasant.

Excellent food and drinks, fun decor and atmosphere. However, the service was VERY poor. We were a group of 10, practically the only ones in the restaurant for our reservation time (4:30 p.m.). We received our plates 1h30 later, while tables arriving after us had already received theirs. In addition, the waitress Stéphanie forgot to bring us water even though we asked her at least 4 times...

The service wasn t horrible although we waited at least 20 minutes to place our order. Everything arrived at same time despite saying we wanted an entree and then our main dish. I ordered the tartare duo (entree size) as my main dish but they brought me the big version (35$ instead of 18$...) and the salmon tartare would ve literally sent me to the hospital with food poisoning if i ate it. I cannot believe they serve that to clients. It smelled HORRID as if it had been in the counter for over 2 weeks. You cannot eat raw fish like that. Besides that, my friends burger was FROZEN. Over all, inedible, rotten food. They also didn t have 3 of our first choices on the menu. Really over priced for horrible quality food. NEVER RECOMMEND. So angry I spent 70$+ there for food i didn t even eat.

Personally a little disappointed, but I give the benefit of the doubt due to the pandemic. I had dinner at lunch time and there were only 3 choices of beers...Stella, Bud, and Labatt 50...For an establishment called La Taverne, I must say that I was a little disappointed. Also, I took the salmon tartare and my friend the tuna tataki, both of us were disappointed with the portion (especially for the tuna tataki which had no accompaniment). I hope the beer selection will improve over time...Unfortunately I cannot recommend...

Located conveniently, easy to find. Walking in definitely eye pleasing and greeted with a smile. The food was great/simple with a crazy modern twist. The ambiance is nice the music is diverse. A place that can be enjoyed with friends to party or a date night. Congratulations nice to see a well thought out business.

If I could I would give zero stars. For a dinner that cost us $240, it was by far the worst restaurant Ive been to in the last 5 years. The waitress who is rude and who speaks informally by saying madam, do you want . Total rubbish. The dishes that arrive before the starters, to finally be put on the stove for 45 minutes to come back dry and lukewarm. Honestly my worst experience in this restaurant. Wash wash wash. Never again. And p.s.: to the manager, it might be fun to tell your employees at the little bar in the corner not to be 6 of them laughing and talking together, not professional and whats more without a mask. Well done.

The waitress Amélie was really nice! The food arrived quickly. We had the burrata, the veggie burger, the regular burger and the veggie mac and cheese. The 2 burgers were really good. The mac and cheese was special, we dont recommend it. On the other hand, the drinks were fresh and the price remained reasonable.

Regardless of the food, music, or ambiance, about half the waitresses and bartenders were wearing theirs masks on their chins or not at all. Our waitress was talking to us very closely, like practically in my face with no mask. I understand it s a choice but when you re working somewhere with the public, KEEP IT ON. They were also dancing and fraternizing with customers, again with no mask. The restaurant manager was walking around at the same time (mask on the chin). Not coming back here.

The reception of customers was little or not checked with regard to the vaccination passport. I was sitting facing the entrance so I saw a few customers enter without being checked. The waitress was friendly but the service experience left much to be desired. We waited to be served and had to get up to ask for a second drink. The distribution of invoices was a mess. Unjustified charges were found on the majority of invoices. The waitress was impatient and expeditious rather than apologizing for the inconvenience this caused. She never offered dessert or coffee. In short, there were 10 of us at the table and everyone agreed that we would never set foot in this restaurant again. Not to mention the price of the rather ordinary and simplistic dishes even if they are presented on wooden tiles. In summary, very bad experience and $50 thrown out the window.

Amazing new place next to carrefour Laval to go eat, have fun and enjoy a great evening with friends. The food is extremely delicious!! Whet her you re vegan, vegetarian or carnivore, their menu offers a great variety of food that you will not regret. The place itself is beautiful.

Nice atmosphere, good food and friendly staff. Exactly what Carrefour Laval needed. Original menu at very reasonable prices. Loved the fish(Cod) popcorn at $10 and the jumbo shrimp at $12. Tartares were only $12. They bring a big giant menu on a stand to your table(very original). Also, you can order 6 shooters served on a special rack at only $18. Very fun place with hot barmaids. Nice to see a restauranteur think outside the box and create something original like this. And you wont leave with an empty wallet like a lot of other places. Going back soon.

Simply impeccable food for the price. Dishes ordered: Arancini (Excellent); Popcorn Fish (Excellent) and the homemade coleslaw is also excellent. Mac & Cheese and Boudin Plate. The Veggie Mac & Cheese is honestly the best I ve eaten. One of my friends ordered the plate of black pudding which he found very good and well accompanied. The dishes are served professionally and the presentation is impeccable. The portions are also honest, neither too small nor too generous. The service is excellent and attentive. Cons: Several dishes were not available on the menu, which limited our choices. One of the desserts, the hybrid mousse cake with chocolate cake was ordinary and too sweet. We barely hear each other speak. I understand the idea of the restaurant-bar concept and the millennial clientele, but perhaps play more lounge music before 10 p.m. and then turn up the volume with the Top 40 ? There, it was just unpleasant, because it was almost impossible to hold a conversation while eating... Cute DJ tho

Amazing new place in laval, the ambiance and music were very good . I had la taverne burger, one of the best . Its a must , I recommend.

I wish I could give this place more stars because the food & drinks are actually really good!! A bit pricey but worth it honestly. However, I was uncomfortable with the lack of respect for covid measures. Inside the restaurant is packed, have to squeeze by people to move around. Not a single waitress was wearing a mask, and considering they re handling the food & drinks, it s concerning in a pandemic. I would return, but not during covid. Just feels unsafe and like no social distancing measures are in place.

Very nice evening spent in your establishment. The choices are varied, the prices are reasonable and the quality of service is excellent. Our party of 6 had Charles as our server and I couldnt have asked for better. He is attentive to special requests, fast and very friendly. I highly recommend to everyone!

I went there for lunch and the coleslaw was so rotten I had to spit it out and the fish was clearly also gone bad. When I told them they didnt look very surprised. I couldnt even eat the food. Now my belly feels like what I did manage to eat is going to come back up. Gross
