To begin I've Google this place before going there and it seem really pleasant. But I guess we can't judge a book by the cover. The 12 services of menu dégustation was unpleasant. When every service it's about one bit. Ok my mouth is smaller.. so I has a few bit. Lol The bread was considered as one service (I really had to mention this) 😔...a few dishes was not bad... Other was either too salty either untastefull. Anyways with all the people I was with I wasn't the only person with this comment. The place was overall nice. The waiter was really nice too.. But we waited 30 to 40 min for every 2 services. Oh not to mention the alcohol was pretty expensive. 😅 I don't think I will ever going back there.
The food was amazing, nice presentation. We were a group of 15. But let me tell you that I really didn’t like the ambience, because it was super noisy to the point that we had to scream to hear each other. We stayed from 6-9.30 pm and couldn’t wait to finish the food to just leave. First it took forever to have tapas ( we took testing menu) which were served every 30 min. The portions are ridiculously small and it’s one dish for two people, but charged 70$ per person. The waitresses were very friendly and knowledgeable. I am not returning to this restaurant. But hey to each his own.
Everything was delicious, but the annex where we ate was too cold. Even with the electric heaters on, I was still cold. Make sure you get a table not in the extension area. Food and service was great.
My daughter and I celebrated her August birthday and my mom's on Sept. 21st. Exceptional staff. We chose the Dégustation menu and wine pairing and spent a moment with the staff after, even meeting a previous student! Thank you!!
Nice place with good atmosphere but warning to anyone with nut or sesame allergies. It’s not worth the risk. Tapas style is loaded with risks of cross contamination. Im sure the food is great…pretty expensive for portions, but unlike other places where you can clearly make a plate without contaminating it, this restaurant doesn’t have that luxury. Do yourself a favor, fill up at home, meet some friends at this venue and stick to drinks only. Even the bread might have nuts in it.
My expectations weren't very high having read all the previous reviews, however, Im not really sure what all the complaints are about. I have worked in a fine dining restaurant so I would say my expectations are higher than most in restaurants. Service: a bit slow, but it's a Friday night we didn't expect anything speedy, also when you're at a nice place you don't want to rush either so overall it was well paced. Servers are very kind, knowledgeable and add to the overall culinary experience. Food: the food was wow, everything was so nice with different flavors and everything went so well together. Portions may be a bit small but for the amount we paid, honestly I think it was more than fair. We really liked everything! We sat on the patio which is nothing special but it was a lovely summer evening. I loved the food and would love to go back and try another month. The restaurant is worth a try and I think most of these recent bad reviews are a bit unfair.
If I could give it 3.5 I would ...but rounding up to 4 stars. I came to the black forest for dinner on a Thursday evening and got the Menu Dégustation for 3 people 200$ (apperently there is a 20$ off on Thursdays but they didn't apply it to my bill!). This menu includes 10 tapas and one dessert. The first 3 tapas were very disappointing...Shrimp ceviche served on a Tostitos chip? Then a beet salad which wasn't very tasty. And a lemon pasta plate with very dry pasta. Fortunately, after that it got much better ! Delicious plates of tartare, black sausage, veal, Haitian griot...my favorites probably were the Artichoke Naan with cheese and the Gnocchi. I like that there was a large parking lot for the restaurant.
the food is very good for the price. fresh ingredients and good cook on them. every components work well on the plate. i would still be happy if the price was higher. the only down is the service time...it takes way too long. i sat there for 30min before my order is taken. And there was only like 10 dishes on the menu. the dishes took too long to come out as well...But food itself is perfect especially for this price.

Our experience at Black Forest is always extraordinary! The dishes are so tasty! They offer diversity in flavors and textures. The food and wine pairing is always on point. Surprisingly, the dishes to share (10-course menu), which often seem small when they arrive, fill us up amply. Annas service is frankly pleasant, she knows her menu, her wines well, and she is always in a good mood.
The November Tasting menu was excellent! Always as good and friendly, we have been going to this restaurant for over 5 years, we try to go there 2-3 times a year!
I really liked this restaurant! It was my first time. However, I found that some dishes were rather simple (I could easily reproduce them at home). But overall, it was excellent! Parking: Easy to find at the back of the restaurant but it was very tight!
As usual, impeccable service and exceptionally delicious food! The only problem in my opinion is that the price of the cocktails is a little high. Dietary restrictions: The restrictions are clearly written on the order so no errors are possible.

The food is very good and the staff very friendly. On the other hand, the service times between each course are too long. We arrived at 6:30 p.m. and finished the meal (tasting menu) at 10:30 p.m. That s 4 hours spent at the restaurant. The tasting menu is hardly suitable for vegetarians.
We took the promotion of 5 services at $60. With the prices of the cocktails it quickly rose to $100 each. There was nothing earth-shattering about the food. It lacked finesse, it felt more like An Almost Perfect Supper. Unfortunately, I think that the quality is not there for such a concept. On the positive side, the service was quick and pleasant and the atmosphere was warm.

Beautiful place, at the beginning of the heart of old Ste-Rose. My wife and I waited a good 10 minutes, alone at the entrance, before being greeted. The restaurant was at 70% capacity on a Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. The waitresses are incredibly nice and knowledgeable about their menu. The dishes are prepared with care and very good taste. The decor leaves a little to be desired in terms of the choice of colors which mix strangely and the tables are of poor quality. This remains an opinion. I recommend for the quality of the food and the impeccable service. Dietary restrictions: My wife was gluten intolerant and they have options.

This is our 2nd time, and we once again had a great evening. The food is superb and we can try lots of new dishes.
There were 6 of us and we took the Tasting Experience menu in the form of tapas. Of the ten dishes, only the black cod was disappointing, it was not tasty and the smell of the fish was not inspiring. As for the other 9 tapas, they were excellent.

I went there with my daughter and we shared 5 entries. All the dishes were generous and delicious. Vegetarian options: Yes, some options Dietary restrictions: I am intolerant to dairy products and it was very easy for me to find lactose-free / sauce-free dishes. Parking: There is a first parking lot just behind the restaurant then a second parking lot a few meters further (end of the alley on the left) which is reserved for restaurant customers.
It was a wonderful experience, the food was surprisingly good and the waitress Oceane was very professional and patient .

Les portions peuvent sembler petites, mais nous ne sommes pas parvenus à la fin de la dégustation: nous étions trop remplis. On nous a gentiment offert d apporter les restants en take-out. Prévoir un bon 3 heures pour le repas.
Oh god what a terrible experience. Food was absolutely and utterly tasteless. No seasoning, no herbs, nothing. Ambiance was lamentable; sad top 40 jazzy covers and more than half light bulbs burnt. Service was okay but very slow. We were unimpressed by the wine and the cocktails. Had one each, a wine bottle and the tasting menu and left from there with a bill of 300$. From far our worse money grabbing experience. Stay afar.

Terribly disappointing and misleading... I can say that this is the worst meal my partner and I have eaten. Tasting menu which is not one. No seasoning, no flavor, no finesse across the 12 dishes that were served to us Everything was bland. Honestly I thought we were on a TV show with a hidden camera. Who is the boss behind all this? Who dares to perform these dishes? What restaurant proclaims itself fine tasting menu cuisine and is not embarrassed to serve all these tasteless dishes to its customers? And at what point were customers able to put 4-5 stars in reviews? I am completely incomprehensible. The waitress, although pleasant, claimed to be a sommelier, but we were not impressed with her skills or the wine. It was okay. And what about the aperitif I was served grape juice with a lime garnish. Poorly executed cocktails, way too long, poor choice of decor... It was pitiful. I thought of all my restaurateur friends who would have found it absurd to find themselves sitting with us that evening. All this for $280. And the atmosphere provided by covers of old musical choices... Its really the joke of the summer.
What to start with. We had a lot of good comments about this restaurant from our friends, being ourselves big consumers of REAL fine cuisine such as Europea, Toqué, La Tanière, etc., we had a certain expectation about the Black Forest given its description on internet and that it proclaims itself fine cuisine. Besides the overall decent decor and the kind and polite waitress who does her best to receive us properly, there is something else on the menu. They use the words 12 courses which is actually 6 courses of 12 tapas to share between two people. The portions are literally microscopic. How to share mini short ribs with my partner. As mentioned above, we are used to 12-15-20 courses and in any case, there was never a question of sharing plates between two people. In addition, the great descriptions in the menus and the beautiful presentations on the plate do not make the food better. Maybe warn the kitchen that salt and pepper is required in catering. Bland food from start to finish and freshness that leaves much to be desired for the octopus ceviche and the red pepper puree. Finally, the price is exorbitant for the quality of the food and dishes. To be honest, an extremely poor investment of $200 and a very disappointing evening. $50 at Subway would have been better spent and tastier. Hoping the chef in the kitchen remedies this situation, because I would be embarrassed.
We went to Laval restaurant, and tried dégustation menu with vine pairing. Unfortunately, disappointed with tiny, tiny portions and a poor quality of wine. The food quality was good, but does not worth the price. Hope things will evolve in this place. Food

Several things to say.... Lets start with the positive because there are some negative points, but Ill come back to that... Really good and quality food. Presentation of the dishes really well. Fast and courteous service from the room staff. The negatives now.... I understand that we are here with a tapas menu, but the portions could have been a little more generous in my opinion. At the price (and Ill come back to this) that he charges, it seems to me that when you take a 12-course tasting menu with food and wine pairing, the least you could do would have been for the plates and wine glasses to be changed at each change of wines without having to ask anything. The decor and ambiance of the place is superb, but noisy...really!!! The price now... and thats it, it hurts in my opinion. For 2 people, $355 including tip is pretty expensive. The 12-course menu at $55/person ($70 normally) is perfectly fine but $60/person for the food and wine pairing where you are given 6 servings of 3 oz of wine from 6 different wines , thats frankly too expensive. And then, at this price tea and coffee should be included... In the end, did we like it? Yes Are we going back? No It was a very pleasant experience, we have no regrets, but we will not repeat this experience.

This is the third time we have been to this restaurant and we have never been disappointed. The service is fast and superb. All employees are courteous and very friendly. As for the food wow!!! It s excellent and the value for money is unbeatable. We had asked for a quieter little corner and we were in a perfect place. Thanks again to the whole team, I recommend this place to everyone without hesitation! :)
Very interesting and affordable gourmet menu.
This restaurant was recommended to me. We were a group of 25 people and the food was indeed very good and I recommend it on this aspect. On the other hand, the service was not up to the bill which was 18% for the mandatory service. We have to pay for the bread which costs $6 for 6 gummy buns that I received after my entry. The waitresses are not experienced and lack training. The parking lot is full of mud at the back of the street.

We went to the Black Forest in Laval for a 5th wedding anniversary, and we were not disappointed! The staff is wow!! Marco served us like kings!! Honorable mention to Vincent from the black forest in Terrebonne too! Thats my boy!!!! He is the best server/bartender ever!!!
Beautiful ancestral house with terraces at the front and back. 12-course tasting menu, the portions are very reasonable for the price ($60 per person) and its good. Rather ordinary service, we do not change the utensils or the wine glasses and we serve our own wine and water.

We ate on the terrace, the only complaint would be, that the terrace carpet would need to be cleaned. There is a lot of accumulation of branches, fir thorns, etc. But we really enjoyed the meal.

honestly, very disappointed with our experience. We were 6 adults and had the discovery meal. It took 4 hours in total for the service. It was very very slow! Even after asking to speed up, it was still slow. It took several requests to our waitress before we got what we needed. Sometimes it never happened. No change of utensils, even after 12 different dishes. Plates were changed only when asked. I think the waitresses lack experience, especially no boss in sight. Food was ok. We do not recommend, we will not return there.

We have been there several times a year since it opened and we have been a little disappointed each of the last times. We are no longer impressed by presentations that were once spectacular, imaginative and creative. The flavors no longer come out of the ordinary like they knew how to do before. The service is OK but nothing more. Unless it s the owners daughter who takes care of you. She is enthusiastic, smiling, only wants us to be happy and you can feel it. She transmits her love and passion not only for the dishes, but also for our complete satisfaction. The prices are exaggerated for what we receive and the furniture needs love. When the restaurant displays tapas prices between $15 and $30, you expect to be well seated. Its very unfortunate, but I doubt well go back there.

My taste buds are disappointed. A deceptively gourmet tasting menu. The balance in the dishes was frankly poor and the musical selection of old remixed hits alienating. Friendly service but the rushed pace at the beginning (received my first dish before my aperitif glass) became annoying towards the end. We had the tasting menu. All the dishes were a delight for the eyes. We found that some dishes were too salty and that there was always a fatty element which, with the quantity of dishes received, began to weigh heavily on our digestion. What was a little strange was the mix of styles of dishes: Asian, Indian, Mexican, French. Everything was good but not Wow. For $70 per person it was very fair. As for the service, it was friendly, but I would have appreciated receiving my cocktail before my food arrived because the dishes followed one another quickly.

2 restaurants, 2 experiences. Mistakes in dishes involving a nut allergy. Twice rather than once. Several price errors on the invoice (+/-$15 difference). No excuses. At $215 a bill for two, this kind of mistake goes badly. And what can I say about the fact that I looked for the lamb in my lamb!!! If you have the choice, go to the one in Terrebonne which stands out more.

A real delight, the service was also excellent. Black Forest offers a share serve option, which allowed us to sample all the options. Even though each tapas offers a small portion, we were no longer hungry by the end of the services. I highly recommend the scallop gnocchi and the burrata. Beer choices a little thin, the lager tasted strange, but the IPA was delicious. Good selection of white and red wine. Highly recommended!

We had a tapas meal with food and wine pairing. Tapas are nothing like tapas. Ordinary taste. Much too expensive to sit facing the toilet. We found a label in a dish, no apologies made.

After several researches, our first choice fell on this restaurant for the variety of dishes. The owner told us that they were full. His call then took us by surprise to tell us that they now had a place available for us. Super nice discovery, Océanne, Marco and Anne were excellent servers. Well presented and balanced dishes! Everything was excellent! We have only good words for all the staff and their refined dishes! You will not be disappointed.

I never leave comments online but I have to for this one. First, the positives: atmosphere: great staff: great taste and freshness of the dishes: brilliant The problem Ive encountered is that when I spend $210 for two people, I expect to eat and not leave hungry. The portions are ridiculously small to the point where I felt like it was a joke. I had to order two main courses and a desert, I could have easily eaten 6 or 7 more. No joke. The gnocchi starter had ONE gnocchi, LOL. To those who blame inflation, GTFO LOL. I eat out enough to understand the cost/portion ratio. Thats off inflation to the point where its laughable. Live and learn!

Very tiny portions for the price of $120 for 2 people! 3 small pieces of beef dish for 2 people to share not even 4 bites each at least give 2 small pieces each. Very ordinary charge the small basket of bread $4. They should be provided by the house! Very good quality, beautiful presentation! But we leave there hungry. I finished my Valentines Day evening after $240 for my dinner with a bag of chips at 8.30 pm. Parking: Very small parking lot.

First I would like to say that I have dined at Black Forest in Terrebonne and tried the 12 course tasting menu with my husband and loved it. Portions were perfect, the wine, as was the service. Having said that, we invited another couple to join us at the Laval restaurant to try the 12 courses. Extremely disappointing!!!! It seemed that the portions they served were difficult to share. At one point we had to share a half beet with four people??? We mentioned it to our waitress and she explained that that was the new policy?? We quickly figured that they should have just treated us as two different tables and maybe then we would have felt full at the end of our meal. Bottom line, not worth the money!

Very disappointed. The dishes were cold or at best lukewarm. There were 4 of us and we took the 12 course menu with wine. First of all we had to share the dishes between 4, whereas we should have been served as a couple. Trying to share a baby beetroot between 4 with the sauce,,,,, Its not serious and it wasnt a culinary experience far from it. For a bill of $316 per couple I repeat, VERY DISAPPOINTED!!
Super good restaurant, friendly atmosphere and the service is excellent. We loved the tasting menu. The menu is perfect and the food is delicious. Wow!! We recommend the Black Forest in Laval without hesitation.
We had the 12 course and each of the services were excellent. Our waitress Marianne did a fantastic job and the food and wine pairing was perfect. It was our first time and definitely not the last!

We were a group of 26 people, the meals were very good. Our guests gave us great feedback. The meals are tasty and the presentation is very original. Thank you very much to Mélanie and her team for the excellent service, we will definitely go back!
No atmosphere, very ordinary service from our waitress even though the others seemed good. The dishes all tasted like peanuts as if that s the theme of the month. The meals were cold, we left the plates uneaten and responded to the waitresss questions by telling her our dissatisfaction only to be told that in Terrebonne the chef uses fewer Indian spices (peanut etc.) Not recommended

The Black Forest experience is absolutely divine!! We loved it! We took the 12-course menu, quite a discovery for the taste buds! The service is impeccable, courteous and warm. All the waiters and waitresses are very professional and knowledgeable about the menu. We particularly thank Anna,...you pampered us throughout the evening...even when a small delay in the kitchen occurred. We will definitely come back with our family to dazzle them! Thank you to the chef who took the time to come see us...and share his passion! See you soon!!

Good restaurant value for money, if you take the 12 tapas service be aware that it is still large portions. I suggest not taking the 8:30 p.m. service because the kitchen closes at 10:30 p.m. so the plates arrive quickly.
On est allé un mardi pour le spécial 60 $ pour 2 personnes qui comprenait 5 services. Tous les plats étaient bons, mention spéciale à longlet de boeuf. Le service était aussi tres bien. On a pris un vin nature et pas decu du tout. Bref, une très belle expérience. On va certainement y retourner surtout que le menu change à tous les mois,

It was very good. The atmosphere was quite pleasant and not very noisy. However the portions are really too small for the price we pay. There were also people with dietary restrictions that the restaurant said they could accommodate, but that meant the plate was a little empty...
