It s extraordinary what we ate (savoured) yesterday. I lack words to express the harmony, the audacity and the originality of the flavors at this table. Our choice: A la carte menu. We ate pan-fried foie gras, scallops, deer and elk, an absolute delight!!

Honestly, I was skeptical at first about this little restaurant but I was pleasantly surprised! The service is impeccable. The quality of the food what can I say.. Its excellent and tasty and the portions are perfect. We were in a group so they made the wine selection for us according to the services and once again no complaints. I recommend this restaurant if you want to eat well and have a pleasant evening.

Hidden germ in laval, you will be surprised by the excellent service & food quality. Its in the high end price but worthy to try. They use very fresh ingredients & the sauce for each dish comes from real fruits, so it tastes light & so much flavour. Fois gras is a must try on the menu, not over or under cook, perfect timing & the dish temperature is just perfectly control to bring out the best taste of it.

Came across this little place on our visit to Canada with my 10 year old, who also has a great taste for fine dining. He wanted seconds for everything he tried and asked the manager to tell them that they are magicians )))

Absolutely fantastic

The restaurant is located in a beautiful old house with several dining rooms. We were seated in a cozy area with only four tables which made the experience even better. White table cloth, impeccable service, a menu that captures the chef s creativity and genius, this is an excellent fine French dining.Everyone will find something they like on the menu. Le Mitoyen offers a broad selection of fine wines to accompany each course. To conclude, it was a memorable dining experience and one where we will celebrate future special occasions. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Exquisite, very fine food. Adorable, ultra-professional server. Very warm, like a house, its fun! The menu at $68/person is exquisite and not that expensive when you think about it. The prices are higher on the wines, but they are private imports, and chosen with care, so... in the end, a big 10/10.

I have passed by this little restaurant about a thousand times, and never went in. We decided to made a reservation for this past Saturday evening. Best Decision we have made in a long time. The Service , Ambiance, and last but not least, The Food was Excellent. They have a great wine selection. And a sommelier who knows his craft. If you have a desire to visit a really Great Dining Out experience in Laval , this should be your choice. The veal was done to perfection, the Beet Salad was to die for. Service was very good. The desert was very good. Creme Brulée For my wife, and au chocolat desert for myself The only thing lacking ? The coffee was tepid, not hot,and kind of bland. ( surprised) Please note this is a high quality restaurant, And the prices reflect that.

A most pleasant experience. Exceptional service from Brigitte. But what can we say about the quality of each service!!! A pleasure to taste at every butcher. We had the wine pairing, a perfect match. We were in the Aldéa room which was named in honor of our grandmother who was next door to the restaurant. Thank you for this beautiful evening which did us good!

I visited this restaurant on 2 different occasions. Food and service were great both times. Cozy restaurant, which is a house with different rooms, each has 4-5 tables to seat patrons. Decor is different and overall a nice place for a date or a special occasion. Not recommended to bring kids. It s on the pricier side so bring your wallet!

Very friendly, helpful and smiling staff. The meal was hearty and tasty. This is the first time Ive found such good food in Montreal. A first for me, especially since most of the dishes are inspired by French cuisine, which I loved. Small exception, some sauces are not very suitable for meat but the foie gras sauce is wonderful. I love this restaurant. Seriously, I recommend it 100%. my wife and I come here often and we love the food and the atmosphere but above all the service is impeccable

From 2003 to 2008 I was travelling to Montreal every three weeks and staying in Laval. I first tried their tasting menu in I believe 2006 and was absolutely blown away. I have also enjoyed their alla carte and table d hôte items which are fantastic. I am a physicist and food chemist who has published in the area and continue to run research in the area and since that first tasting have been back several times. Since 2008 I ve have the privilege to have travelled the globe and have eaten in many of the world s best restaurants. To date, however, I have never found a restaurant that produces absolutely perfectly balanced dishes, tasting menus and wine pairings. The chefs and sommelier are absolutely on point and in my opinion out perform many of the Michelin star restaurants I ve eaten at. The dishes are balanced and delicious, the wines are extraordinary, the service is absolutely top notch and the atmosphere perfect. Also the only tasting menu I have experienced where one is really satisfied and full (!) by its conclusion. This year alone I have intentionally driven from Toronto to Montreal (1200 km round trip) twice with a colleague just to experience Le Mitoyen. Anyone in the area (I.e., Montreal) should consider making the trip as I would be hard pressed to believe anyone who enjoys these experiences will be disappointed. To many more years and experience to Le Mitoyen!

Very courteous and warm staff, impeccable service and the food was excellent

First return after the pandemic and still as excellent and pleasant.

I have been going to this restaurant for at least fifteen years and the food, atmosphere and service have always been there. Last Tuesday, I went there with my lover for the first time since 2019. We had a lot of disappointments in restaurants we went to after the pandemic so we had no expectations. What a nice surprise to see that nothing has changed! I had made a reservation, even though it was a Tuesday (we always reserve at Mitoyen). The service was excellent and very professional, the waiter was discreet but never failed to be there when we needed him. The food was just as excellent as before, that is to say fantastic, and the atmosphere in our little room was very cozy. A beautiful gastronomic evening. In a few words, this restaurant is even worth a detour like we did from Brossard!

I loved my evening, the food was beyond my expectations, definitely the best Filet Mignon I have ever eaten! The ambiance was very relaxing, good choice of music and dim lighting. It was perfect. And finally, what can we say about the service! I really enjoyed hearing a brief account of the history of the restaurant when I arrived. Received the details of what our plates contained when serving and our server was more than attentive and precise in explaining to us the different choices of dishes as well as giving good advice on the choice of wine to accompany our meal. This is our favorite place to go for an excellent meal, my wife and I. The atmosphere is calm and very friendly with good calm music to chat with people. The meals are truly worthy of a chef obviously, no matter what you order, it s excellent. You dont have to worry if what youre going to order is good, it will simply be delicious. The service, on par with everything I just mentioned. I cant recommend it enough! ps: Im a Bastien too, but I dont know the chef :). So much value.

This is a great restaurant but there are some issues preventing it from achieving 5 star status. For one, the service is extremely slow. Unless you have 3-4 hours dont bother. I enjoy fine dining & still found this insanely slow compared to other restaurants in the industry. Food was great, but not incredible. Around the table we had bison cheek, deer steak, scallops, Tuna tartare, all of which simply met expectations. Nothing really stood out in our eyes, nothing was remarkable. They also have limited digestifs which is surprising. Value for experience is quite good, we ate very well for roughly $250 / couple with tip included. Its a nice spot to experience on a trip, but not a place I would dine regularly, or even more than once! We enjoyed ourselves, so overall 4 stars.

So first of all we were at the table of 4 like referenced in the negative review from Biana. Everyone else had a stellar meal and the service was exceptional. Weve asked her to remove the completely unfair review but so far its still up so we felt no choice but to leave a review of our own. This is not the first time we invited her someplace and although everyone else had a great experience she ordered something she didnt like. Let me put it in perspective. The wagu steak was a luxury item more than 3 times the price of everything else on the menu. If u order something like that you take the chance to see if you like it and if its worth doing for you again. As stated in review it was OK so essentially just It was not matching HER expectations. In this case the rest of us feel it was a case of buyers remorse. Imagine being the waiter and someone makes a scene perhaps even in an attempt to return a very expensive meal that simply one person doesnt like. Sure if you dont like a $30-40 meal you can do that.. bring me something different please.. this is not to my liking.. but no you cant do that with a $140+ wagu steak. If YOU dont like it tough. Dont order it next time. The waiter otherwise was perfect and we felt very welcome as he was personable and attentive. There was just nothing he could do about Biana in that situation. We do not support that review and since we brought her there we feel responsible and apologize for putting the restaurant in this position. Not only was our fantastic meal partially ruined by her attitude (premature departure) and subsequent review (which came in while we were still at the restaurant), but now a fantastic restaurant and great waiter has been defamed unfairly. Please pay no attention to that review and come see for yourself. Its a great restaurant and other people agree with us in countless reviews! Again.. Weve asked her to reconsider her stance but, that failing, perhaps its best that we simply not include her from now on in our restaurant adventures.

We went to dinner, me and my friend, at the restaurant Le Mitoyen. It was a first for us, but obviously certainly not the last. Basically, we had just returned from an activity that required a very casual look. We chose the restaurant last minute and didnt have any spare linen with us. We feared being judged at the restaurant. But no, as soon as we arrived, we received 5 star treatment from our server, as well as the other members of the staff. Regarding physical locations. The restaurant is located in an old house with a rustic decor, which gives it a lot of character. We quickly feel encompassed by the atmosphere, it s really very comforting and warm. We couldnt resist the tasting menu with the food and wine pairing. We enjoyed all the dishes, as well as the wines which were carefully selected. I highly recommend the tasting menu, it s definitely a culinary experience with every bite. The chef has created a menu that presents an absolutely delicious marriage of flavor and texture. The cooking of each dish was perfect and the sequence of dishes follows each other perfectly, both in terms of taste and in terms of rhythm. As for the quality of service, it was absolutely impeccable. The waiter was very respectful, funny, attentive and he took all the time necessary to explain the dishes to us, as well as the wines to select for pairing. I was surprised that he was not a sommelier, given his in-depth knowledge of the subject and his capacity for popularization. In short, thank you to the chef, our server, as well as the whole team! We had a wonderful evening.

The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful. Nice atmosphere, rustic and cozy. We go the tasting menu with wine pairing and it was phenomenal. Each dish tasted amazing. We were served by Nelson. Probably the best service I ever got at a restaurant. He took his time explaining every single dish we got in the tasting menu as well as the wine. Was very patient, expressive and pleasant to talk to. He really spoiled us and at the end gave us a tour of the restaurant and information about the history of the place. Honestly highly recommend. Its a place more for an older crowd but Ill still go back.

The location, environment and food was fantastic. Such a cozy place to have a delicious meal. For me the service from the minute upon entering really set this place apart. Every staff member greeted us with a smile, was extremely friendly and helpful. In particular Nelson, the head sommelier and our server. Warm, informative and really fantastic wines paired with every dish. To me he is the epitome of what a good host is. I was also really impressed with the wine list itself not just displaying French wines but a nice diversity and in particular well priced wines, at a wide price range- which is rare now-a-days. My recent dining experience at Le Mitoyen was regrettably overshadowed by subpar service. Ambiance was ok, food was so so, but the lack of competence and attentiveness from the service staff left much to be desired. Service timing was erratic, with prolonged delays between courses and a noticeable lack of attention to empty glasses or requests for basic amenities. The disappointing service significantly impacted the overall enjoyment of the meal. I hope Le Mitoyen takes this feedback constructively, recognizing the importance of refining their service standards to match the potential of their culinary offerings.

Such a charming restaurant, feels like something out of a Christmas movie. The food was incredible, not one of the 7 dishes we tried was anything less than amazing. The dishes were complex in flavour and ingredients without ever being offensive. The highlight of our evening was Patrick, a generous and kind host with an obvious passion for his work. His love for his team and the menu was so obvious and he guided us through the menu with such enthusiasm that I felt like I sampled every item on that menu. Will be back!

This is one of my favourite places - never disappoints! We had reservations the day that the government decided to shut down all the dining rooms for the 31st. The quality of the food is above the $$ that they charge for each plate. All of our plates were beautiful and delicious. We had the salmon, lamb tartares, salad, duck, and the filet mignon - amazing! Desserts were plated beautifully. The service in this restaurant always leaves us feeling that our patronage matters. Classy dining without a hefty bill at the end. Thank you to the owner and the staff for such a wonderful experience!

It was really good. I had the special Valentines Day menu. It s a 7-course tasting menu. On the other hand, I didnt have dessert. The service is great but a little slow on the kitchen side. The meal lasted 3h30

Hello, I was very disappointed with the service from the waitresses, one spoke so loudly that it was embarrassing, the other who was learning the trade, according to the other waitress, completely lacked good manners, and each time When she was putting wine in my cup, she put her elbow in front of my face, instead of going around to my right. The quality of cuisine is really worth the hype and the price. Cohesive, well executed menu progression with great wine pairing options. We had the scallops special appetizer, shrimp salad, chilled tomato soup, mushroom (second course, can t remember the other dish elements, but it was amazing) veal shank, and beef cheek. Each dish was so delicious, visually and tastefully memorable! Truly an impressive culinary experience. Nice romantic ambiance, small and cozy space that feels fancy yet homey. Awesome cozy restaurant with warming atmosphere especially with its fireplace. Calm vibe so you can have a conversation. the staff is awesome, let you take your time and enjoy the night as the table is booked for the whole night: no pressure. the Risotto and Escalope de foie gras are great starters. For meat lovers, the main dish can be a wide selection, went with the: filet mignon de veau which is served with ravioli stuffed with foie gras and the Carre dagneau that comes with a puree smashed with agneau inside it. love it and will definitely come back.

What an improvement! This restaurant by Chef Richard Bastien is entirely in line with Leméac. Le Mitoyen has always had a pleasant if not picturesque decor, the food has always been good but the speed of the service left something to be desired. After taking leave of this establishment my wife and I returned and we were completely won over. Firstly, the service was more than perfect, from reception to table service. We arrived at 7:15 p.m. and left at 9 p.m. completely delighted. All the dishes were excellent, careful and tasty. The comments from our table neighbors, 2 other tables of couples, were just as complimentary. The quality ratio taken is also excellent. We will go back; This restaurant is worth the detour.

A must to try as a couple or with friends...part of the list of Relais et Châteaux. Very great gastronomy.

Good food, nice ambiance, but... the servers were really bad. Didnt know which plate belonged to who and even mistaken my (very masculine) boyfriend for a woman... Ouch.

Im not sugest this place as comfortable and the information post it is wide different that you will see in place. Im sure Laval has several restaurant better than this one.

Very neighborly French restaurant with reasonable prices and terrific food. Nice atmosphere and wait staff is a great bonus.

Excellent dishes, refined and tasty cuisine. Everyone really liked it. Perfect for special occasions. Good friendly service. I highly recommend this restaurant. Expensive all the same.
