We have been coming for years. The food is consistently great and the prices are fair. They are known for their fish, seafood, and of course the Italian dishes. It is a family run restaurant. Be sure to call at night for a reservation. The pirate will not disappoint .
Everything about this restaurant was amazing. The atmosphere was calm and welcoming. We spent nearly 2 and a half hours chatting and eating. There is no rush to be had here. Take your time and catch up with your loved ones and enjoy a delicious meal. We really enjoyed ourselves. Thank you
What a lovely hole in the wall restaurant! You have no idea what to expect when the door is a porthole in a pretty unassuming little place. But the food was delicious, the service fantastic. We are so thrilled we randomly ended up here! If you’re in Montreal and need a break from the urban environment, please consider this for your dinner selection!
Best experience for my marriage, the service was excellent and the food was a lot and great, we paid for the open bar and the drinks were very good, I have no words to describe this place we had a very good night thanks to them.
What can I say about Le Pirate de Laval? There are no words to express how happy I am everytime my family and I go there. We have been coming here for years for family events, birthdays, mother's day, valentine's day etc... This past weekend I hosted a bridal shower in their small private room and I have to say, they went beyond my expectations. They were so amazing from the first meeting to the day of, up until the party ended. My guests were SOOO happy, the food was out of this world, and the service was incredible. Our waitress Claudia, was so sweet, so patient and so kind. Le Pirate de Laval is the PERFECT place to host an event, Alex is such a friendly person and very flexible and will do everything to make sure your event is perfect just the way you want it! Amazing, delicious high quality Italian cuisine! A must try. Thank you to everyone at Le Pirate, can't wait for our next event! :)
Right off the bat, the place looks unassuming from the outside. But inside, you're brought into what feels like you're on an actual ship. The atmosphere is the best part about this place. The food and service was mediocre at best. In one word, our food was "okay". The lobster tasted fine, but you get very little meat. The linguine was fine. The gnocchi was straight-up not good. Very doughy. The calamari, on the other hand, was pretty good and the arancini wasn't bad. We've heard great things about this place, so we'll be willing to give it another go with different dishes.
As a first visit, we must say this was memorable. The food is simply amazing. Took the kir royal (the best ever), minestrone soup and Cesar salad, filet mignon with shrimps and chicken parmigiana. Extremely good; cooked to perfection. The vegetables were perfect, tasty. The filet mignon cooked perfectly (medium). Good music from an accordeon man and in different languages. Highly recommended
Very good service. The waiters and watiteress were very kind and nice to us and the family. We had the place to ourselves for a private event. The only I thing I did not like was the lighting of the restaurant. I found it a little bit dark. And the room for us guest was very tight. Not that much room to move around. And also in the bathroom for ladies there is no changing table for the baby. I had to lay my nephew on the sink. But other then that the food was great. The wine was great. Very nice cuisine Italian food. And the restaurant was very beautiful. I loved the theme that it's a boat.

Went to a birthday celebration last night, expensive $$$$ not big portions, watered down drinks to a point that we were sure they forgot to put rum, one waiter for 22 people, and terrible atmosphere, we were supposed to stay until 1130 12 and the bills came even before the cake, not impressed at all and will not be going back, id honestly love a reimbursement.

Best bang for buck authentic italian restaurants you can find. Fried calamari are some of the best in town. We had the grilled mushrooms and tomatoes and cheese appetizers which were delicious. Main courses saw the likes of Full grilled fish which is a rare find in restaurants nowadays. Rib steak was juicy and tender and rivals some of the best overpriced steakhouses around. Lobster and pasta duo plate was fantastic also. Prices are extremely affordable for the quality and quantity you get. Its really unmatched in that regard. Great for a family supper or even a nice date night. Very unique vibe. This is where all my future events will be held ! Great menu options for parties. 5/5 !

We have been booking for almost a month for a 40th birthday for 15 people. I received a call 2 days before to cancel the reservation saying they were unable to honor our reservation. Really disappointing. We find ourselves without a place to celebrate!! Plan ahead, book for your events elsewhere

Very disappointed with this restaurant, our expectations must have been too high. Meal menu with little choice at excessive prices. Bread and marinated olive served while waiting for the meal. Mediocre accompaniment (white rice or 1 potato cut in half with 1 small piece of chili). Despite everything, the service was quite fast.
A must-see in Laval since 1976! Tasteful Italian cuisine incorporating various lobster dishes: Half Lobster & Linguine; Full lobster and the fishermans plate with half lobster, scampi, shrimp including a wonderful Newburg with scallops & shrimp on rice. The atmosphere is cozy and very pleasant with its impeccable ship-style woodwork from the period (Pirate). The service was extremely efficient even though the restaurant was full. A new favorite despite the location in a neighborhood that is not unanimously appreciated. If you have passed along Boulevard des Laurentides in the Pont-Viau district, you have certainly not noticed this little culinary gem of true Italian origin. Grazie a tutta la squadra!!
We were happily surprised! The outside of the restaurant would need to be updated but the inside is just wow. We felt like we were in a pirate ship. Lots of wood. Our server was great, super service, good advice. I tried finding a place to buy the beer I had tasted and she got the owner to contact the owner of the micro that brewed that beer and came back with the info. My gnocchi were freshly made and the sauce was good. My wife had chicken parmigiana, it was tasty and very tender. the appetizers were very good too. were definitely going to go back.

Super nice discovery, I 100% recommend this restaurant for a great evening. Food wise everything was very good, the quality was really there, everything was fresh and delicious. The only thing I have to say is that if you only take a dish without a starter you will surely find the quantity insufficient, it lacks a little garnish from my point of view. Afterwards you have the option of having pasta so maybe it would be more filling with the pasta! In any case its just a detail but if you take a starter with a main course you will have more than enough! You are served a basket of bread with butter and that is very appreciated, on top of that the bread was really very good! In terms of service, it was very pleasant and very friendly, we had a lovely evening! Price level is not excessive for the quality of the dishes and even the wine is very reasonably priced too! In terms of setting and atmosphere, it was really intimate, calm, a beautiful place for a beautiful evening.
Sadly the food seemed low quality and the place was not to clean, but overall it was ok. Parking: Look for parking in the back of the building.

Excellent Italian cuisine with unparalleled service! Our waitress Claudia was attentive, the Italian food is authentic and the atmosphere cozy and calm. Excellent place for a one-on-one or group meeting (they have 2 group rooms). Varied wine list and bar service. I highly recommend!

Superb atmosphere, very good services. However, in terms of dishes..... the fried squid starter, the best I have eaten, extremely tender! The fishermens plate was disappointing, lobsters very small and overcooked (although very good seasoning). For quantity/quality/price, it is better than the Pirate de Laval.

Everything was OK. Food was mediocre. The tortellini with tomato sauce was horrid, the arancinis werent amazing by any means, the seafood pasta had no shells (looked like mussels and clams came out of a can) - terrible presentation and flavor for the price. The steak was well cooked, but didnt have any sauces (porcini gravy, demi-glace or chimichurri would have been nice) and the side of mash was terrible. We had one waitress for a group of 23 people. Again, for the price, youd expect more.

Veal ok lacks a little taste, vegetables eldente but everything was lukewarm. Lasagna for my husband warm almost cold. Its definitely not worth the price.

Excellent food, exceptional service from Nathalie and warm and welcoming atmosphere, the only downside was the mashed potatoes were lumpy unlike usual...but tiramisu was excellent.

Too many people in an old restaurant, we went there for a birthday. Menu leaving something to be desired, but the dessert was super good. The only other positive point was the excellent service from the only server assigned to our group of more than 20 people.

Very nice place, nice discovery from the outside it seems like nothing because its a big brown wooden wall without a window but when you get inside it really looks like youre inside a boat the food is very good the The price is three ranges so its on average +- $40 per plate. Very nice intimate, discreet, warm atmosphere and the waitress was exceptional, attentive and even suggested a wine that was not on the menu because it was a new wine, she made me suggestions for discounts (on special) for the beverage as well as the food she was attentive to the customers and very smiling. There is a nice variety on the plate. I highly recommend this restaurant it is very different from the restaurants that you can courtesy thank you and have a good day

Saturday July 8, 2023: very beautiful decor, Very expensive and average quality food no table d hôte my mother-in-law took a scallop only: and her tax and tip bill: +/- $55 not in a table dhote! only the plate!!! acidic lasagna lacking finesse (taste and presentation)... Caesar salad of decent quality but again: lack of finesse we went there for a party and everyone was disappointed.. positive point: excellent Bloody Cesar at $7.50 very bare presentation without any fuss but a good mix the restaurant relies on its past reputation to attract customers, but I dont believe it is looking to the future with the very poor quality/price ratio I give a maximum of 7.5/10

We booked for our company Christmas dinner at this place for the first time and we were won over! All employees made good comments and we know that it is rare to achieve unanimity. We had a nice private room that could accommodate around 40-45 people. Our waitresses did a great job and were very friendly. The choice of meals we had was excellent, plentiful and for all tastes. The accordion player entertained us a lot and brought a great atmosphere. Alex junior, the manager, is really nice. I recommend this restaurant without any reservation. We will come back, thank you!

The resto is ok. The food is ok. The service is great. My pasta dish looked like leftover...they brought me another. My steak was supposed to be medium rare...itbwas charred...but still tasted good. All in all, it was ok. I still cant get used to the dark ambiance and all of the wood paneling...I guess thats the Pirate fee.

Another successful time at Le pirate. Went there for a bachelorette and everything was perfectly. The owner is really sweet and friendly and the food is delicious. The only downer was the waiter, it was this tunisian guy that kept giving me dirty looks and complaining because i was taking too long to prep the room for the bridal shower.
Excellent value. Also this Saturday there was a wonderful accordionist. I will return there with pleasure.

Fabulous first experience. 2nd experience, extremely disappointing. We will never return to this place again. The plates were empty as if they had missed some seafood. The wedding reception in the room next door certainly contributed to the lack of service and quality of the plates at the regular tables. If they continue like this, they will lose their customers.

Just had my birthday here. Also my daughters baptism last year. They are friendly, care about making us happy and really go beyond to accomodate for extra activities and decoration set ups. Big Thank you to Alexs and their team for making my birthday memorable. A big plus when you have a number of kids. Private rooms and a hall available - which is what I took. Kid friendly
The first but certainly not the last visit to this restaurant!! It is rather dark but thanks to the wood, it helps to soundproof the place. Even with a group next to our booth, the noise level was very good, which is rare in many restaurants. The service is impeccable. The food is very good. The grilled octopus salad with lemon zest and the lamb shank with a generous portion were favorites. I was a little skeptical as the wine list was not displayed on the website. Quite often, this announces a surprise once there, with high prices. Well no, that wasnt the case at all. We even had the opportunity to make new discoveries, starting with the Italian Menabrea beer and the bottle of Pomino wine, for around $40. In short, everything was perfect. Thanks to the whole team and see you soon!

Went for a 60th birthday party. Without asking they switched us the large private room wich was very appreciated. We had the option to start ordering when the first half of the group was seated (again very appreciated). The food was great (best cheese lasagna I had)... they served a cake we brought and they dont charge for serving it. There are items for all budgets (appetizers start 8$ and entrees start at 18$)
Amazing place!
This is one of my family favorite restaurant. It was my first time going there. If I have to be honest it wasnt the best but it also wasnt the worst. I was satisfied with my lobster plate. I personally wouldnt go back, but if somebody wanted to go, I would tell them go.

I celebrated my grandmother s 80th birthday this past weekend at Le Pirate. The experience was mind blowing. From first contact, the manager Alex was very accommodating and friendly. Staff was amazing and food A+. I recommend anyone to do their special occasions here, they will not disappoint!

We went for a birthday and it was delicious. Its expensive, but for special events I recommend it. They could also accommodate gluten intolerance. We will definitely go back next year! Dietary restrictions: May accommodate gluten intolerance.
