In 2005, a foodie soldier formed a small army – Kayal Army - of people who love and care about healthy eating and traditional cuisine. In a splash of time they proved that there is an opportunity to success if you can deliver healthy food with fresh ingredients at a pleasant atmosphere. Kayal wrote in the history of Restaurant Industry of UK that any forms of economic and industrial downfalls cannot harm an institution which is run by passionate professionals. Kayal – The first authentic Kerala seafood speciality – has become the most popular of its kind to the people of Britain and this family run group of restaurant has become a favourite with dedication and passion for good food.
Okay, but not great. Certainly not spicy enough to be authentic, but as others have said, it is probably aimed at the local audience. We specifically asked if a dish ordered was spicy, was told yes, and it was tikka masala heat at best. Unfortunately, the flavours didn't add enough to be 'about the flavour, not the heat'. The seafood sharing platter was also quite dry and only had two mussels (there was four of us). Service was pleasant, and ambience is nice, but for the price, you'd expect more. Average.
Amazing ambience, our go to place in Leamington. Best served - prawn curry, pepper chicken curry, appam, payasam and cobra beer. 10/10 for service and food, book your table especially for weekends.
Highly recommended this place. The food is amazing! ‘Sea food thali’ and the ‘Triveni drink’ was super delicious. Also they give option to customise in the Thali menu. The food and the flavour aligns to authentic kerala taste.
Excellent food in a nice atmosphere. Loads of choice for Vegans and everyone else. Friendly staff too.
This is a great Southern Indian style restaurant. We've been to their sister restaurant in Nottingham and always enjoyed it, but maybe because of the layout, it's not as good an atmosphere as the Leamington one. We had the beef that "Dad eats with his drinks," which was absolutely superb, and I would order that again, no problem. The blonde (on food critic reference for those that remember!) ordered the special prawn starter. A dry, but full of flavour starter. Perfect to get going. We then had a fish curry (tilapia, a white fish) which was tasty and a prawn curry which had a coconut flavour which was pur favourite. But, both were good. We wouldn't normally order fish in a standard Indian restaurant as it's often frozen and just not enough fish orders to be confident in the freshness and quality. Not at Kayal, where fish is a large part of the menu and well worth trying. Our only issue is we didn't have space to order 'from the garden' or some other meat dishes that all sounded great. Next time. Because there will be another visit soon. Service was great with a very friendly waitress who knew her stuff, was quick on the order, and helpful. And engaging with a smile. If only more could be like that! Even the manager came over to see how we were and gave us a bit of a background on the restaurant. We sat downstairs in the corner and the table was fine and the room downstairs a more relaxed atmosphere, which actually suited us. Perhaps being tucked away meant it was a little harder to ask for something from the staff, but it was no bother to stand up and walk 5 metres around the corner and ask for something. The only MINOR gripe was that the downstairs area is also where the delivery drivers wait, so behind our table was two drivers in riding gear and bags, just hanging around. Didn't do too much for the atmosphere when one left their motorbike running outside the door (which was open because it was warm). As I say, a minor gripe that didn't detract from what was a great meal. I get that delivery is an important income, so perhaps just worth thinking about options for them to wait.
Kerala foods mainly.. super arranged interiors with stylish furnitures. Average food.. maybe because main items were over as we were late.. glad that they still took orders and served neatly. Parking for the hotel is a public one- opposite tobthe hotel-Regent street paid street parking- £1.40 for 1 hour. Can use ring go app or coins.. no card payment
Amazing South Indian food, very authentic!!! Staff are all friendly and make great recommendations. Dosa is huge and crispy. The fish curry in banana leaf has a great aroma. They have Thali meal which I’m yet to try. Authentic place, will highly recommend to anyone who enjoys South Indian food.
It was an absolute delight! The ambience was charming, creating a perfect setting for a memorable dining experience. As for the food, it was exceptional. I particularly enjoyed the rabbit meat dish. The Kayal fish curry was another highlight, showcasing the flavors of Kerala cuisine.
Kayal is an exceptional restaurant that brings the authentic flavors of South India s Kerala coast to life. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with coastal-themed décor that transports you to the shores of Kerala. The menu is extensive, offering a variety of traditional Kerala dishes, including seafood specialties, vegetarian options, and signature Overall, Kayal is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience authentic South Indian coastal cuisine. It s a gem for food lovers who enjoy rich, flavorful dishes in a cozy, welcoming setting. Highly recommend
Amazing options for the south indian food. Strongly recommended for the spot on service and mouth watering food.
Been here 14 years ago, the Kayal I remember then is miles apart from my visit today. Food was very late. Food tasted very average. Food is over priced , its not even a Michelin star but the price is almost the same as one. Atmosphere is average. I understand for people in leaminton this and Herb (again owned by same owner as Kayal) are the only option. We were in wagamama yesterday it had far better environment, service was spot on and ambience was a lot better, still we paid a lot less.
Excellent
Best food and vibe
Foods are really tasty, stunning ambience and excellent service
Amazing atmosphere and good service as well. I just loved this place
Fantastic food, incredible service, good prices.
big portion, but dosas werent very thin and crispy
Very good indian authentic food.
Yeap good food, reasonable prices quite busy but found table no issues
I was craving South indian food, so I came here my favourite place in leamington. It can be a bit expensive but worth it as it is delicious. The waiters provide a lovely service and are very attentive. Plus the atmosphere is relaxing. Food
A delicious meal with a medley of rustic flavours. Highly recommend!
Came here with a couple friends after the lights went on in town, I m not usually a big curry fan but I have to say, the Pothum Boliyum is probably the best curry I ve ever had! Spice and sweet, with the creamy and the crunch from the coconut, topped with fired plantain, absolutely divine! Service was wonderful and the atmosphere was lovely. Will 100% be returning!
The best South Indian food there is around Warwickshire. The food is absolutely palatable, and is very reminiscent of indigenous Malayali cuisine. The ambience of the place is also noteworthy, and staff do their job with aplomb. An ideal place for a family or friends outing. Do try out their seafood thali
As an Indian this food tastes authentic like eating at home. Food is 10 out of 10, delicious and fresh. Good vegan options and plentiful good portion sizes. Thanks again
Kayal is finest Kerala cuisine restaurant had biriyani from there, the best in Westmidlands...
Food was really nice. I had my 87 year old parents and disabled wife with me and because of a ridiculously steep and narrow spiral staircase were unable to use the toilet. We were told if they couldnt get up the stairs to take a 5 minute walk to the nearest Tesco and use theirs.Surely this is wrong as there were downstairs conveniences for the staff. Not at all happy and wont be returning Wheelchair accessibility: Absolute joke if you need the toilet and are old or disabled
A lovely food will be going back soon. Last month we celebrated Onam here with the family. It was really lovely experience and atmosphere. We went there in traditional dress and booked table before. The sadhya was so good. We even come on the second day to have sadhya. We didnt miss Onam and felt we are in kerala. Vegetarian options: Onam sadhya was really good also Masala dosa in the Kayal was really good also there are other non veg dishes. I love the chicken biriyani also beef ulathiyathu and grilled fish as starters are so tasty.
Delicious food and lots of options for gluten free!
Very nice food, casual interior and kind serving. Strongly recommend!
I came here once with work and having tried the food and excellent service, I returned with my husband. We are North Indian and food at Kayal surpasses anything I have tried at local restaurants. Recommend the lamb curry and fish curry. We also enjoyed parantha and kallapam.
Banging
Good ambience and service. Sea food biriyani - very average... Was more like curry gravy and rice with sea food protein thrown in. Lamb dosa- it comes as two large Dosa in one portion £15. Not value for money. Thilapia pollichathu- was decent... Went well with appams Management is humble. People are lovely. But chef needs replacement. Overall very average. Surely not value for money.
Tried their paper dosa and vada. The food was generally below average. Seasoning and spice was not authentic and the chutneys, sambhar and masala were extremely mild and lacked salt and punch. Probably the third best South Indian food in Leamington.
An excellent meal with a breadth of different flavours. My wife who does not ordinarily choose Indian cuisine very much enjoyed the Chicken Dosa. Our waitress, Mahi, gave us superb advice and was very attentive throughout.
Authentic South Indian meals and flavours of South Indian spices will make you happy
Nice ambience, average food, very high price The ambience is nice, but the food is average and very overpriced. The taste and quality of the food dont match even half the price. ...
I have just enjoyed the most delicious business lunch for a long time - fabulous Dhosa and chicken cooked in the most delicious mouth watering spices. Such warm, welcoming and accommodating staff and beautiful service throughout with attention to feedback ensuring you are happy with your choice. Mahis looked after me beautifully sharing helpful tips and selection combinations and I can t wait to come back and share the experience with many of my foodie friends. Great value for money and a superior dining experience in Leamington Spa! Thank you
Delicious food. Sad its so rare to find Keralan food in the UK because its so good. Kayal is good value for money, especially the appam. The staff were so kind, especially to us as it was my dads birthday- he is 77 and has dementia. They brought him a lovely halwa. Also impressed it was open all afternoon so we did not have to rush our late lunch.
Incredible. Great atmosphere, cool interior and fabulous food
We had a delicious meal at Kayal. The food was delicious & authentic. The staff were warm & friendly & very helpful, giving us excellent recommendations, especially Mahi & Joe. Beautiful restaurant decor & great ambience . Will definitely return.
Great food 10/10 and great atmosphere. And the service topped it all off! Thank you to Kayal and Akash especially.
Lovely ambiance and decor. Nice staff. Loved the magician. The interesting menu promises a lot, the execution of everything we ordered was poor. Unlively and lazy seasoning and spicing catering totally for a western palette accompanied by doughy non flaky parathas. Dry and under the pass too long rice. Nothing like the true vibrancy and opulence of keralan / malabar food. Should have filtered reviews by South Indians who pretty unanimously rate this place poorly. Maybe the Thalis or Dosas are decent. If only the food lived up to the decor.
I recently visited Kayaland was impressed by the ambiance, cleanliness, and excellent customer service. However, the chicken biriyani didn t meet expectations for authentic Kerala flavors. While the dish was decent, it lacked the traditional spices and ghee rice, especially considering the high cost. Overall, a pleasant experience, but not worth it for authentic Kerala biriyani.
Kayal in Leamington Spa offers delicious, authentic South Indian food with a warm and inviting ambiance. The service was excellent friendly and attentive throughout. Highly recommend for a great dining experienc.
Best Indian restaurant in Leamington
Overpriced kerala food that tasted nothing like the authentic dishes. We had biryani and it was one of the worst biryanis I have ever tasted. I am from Kerala and this is not even close to what we eat. Definitely not ordering again from here.
Excellent Kerala style food. Try the tilapia fish with appam
Lovely food and staff
Great place to have authentic south indian food. Great service from Mahi!
Go to Indian restaurant in Leamington. The dishes are well made with delicious ingredients. I prefer vegetarian dishes and was able to get a good thali (Sandhya the Kerala name for it). It was worth visiting the place, and my son enjoyed going around the restaurant, which had hanging Royal Enfield Bullet bikes. Theyre great! I would say it would be even better if they could increase the vegetarian options. Despite this, I still prefer to rate them 5. Vegetarian options: Decent vegetarian options available. There is scope to improve the menu with more vegetarian dishes.
Kayal is a Kerala restaurant based in Leamington Spa. The food was a mixed bag, generally slightly heavy and with some of the ingredients not tasting very authentic. The ambience and service were decent.
Nice atmosphere and lovely authentic Keralan food, great change from the boring Bangladeshi menus at most Indian restaurants.
Great food, slow table service
Had the meat thali - delicious variety of dishes - will come back
Great food, this isnt your average British curry - youll get authentic south Indian cuisines - the fish dishes were great and the lamb was brilliant
Delicious!
Average food Dosa is below average No bottle coke Fine and u r forced th have tap cola
Extraordinary experience, the food was to die for. I had the Njandu curry and it was absolutely delicious, possibly the tastiest curry Ive ever had. My tastebuds were tingling throughout and mouth still watering 20 minutes after leaving it was that good! It was very messy but definitely worth it... When looking at the menu the prices seem high, but the quality of the dishes and portion sizes more than make up for it. Dont over order on sides because the mains are massive! My curry had 5-6 whole crab in it, I was definitely struggling but the taste helped me power through! Waiters couldnt understand much English but were incredibly friendly and accommodating.
Very tasty food. Special types of bread. Also rice made in a different way. Eggplant curry, chicken curry excellent.
I visited Kayal recently with family. The location of this hotel on the busy road. Was not expecting we would be getting the table might have to wait for long time. To my surprise we got the table immediately , i guess we were lucky. First impression was this would be another restaurant which was Indian for the name sake serving only Idly/dosa since it was South Indian. However this hotel is serving Kerala specific dishes so you have opportunity to feast on them . The staff was courteous and polite. The restaurant is very clean. The ambience was very nice, it had vibes of indianess. Ambassador and Enfield chassis were kept to give that vibe. However the space is little crumbled on the downstairs, they do have space on the first floor where you can have table facing the famous Regent Street which is awesome. Coming to food. Spicy buttermilk was served as welcome dish which was quiet refreshing. Food was mainly focused on culinary from Kerala. There was good umpteen number of dishes for veg and non-veg categories which is quiet good. I ordered Thali and apam with veg stew. Thali consisted almost six delicacies including Dal and Sambhar along with 4 different type of curries with a Rice and Uthapam . At first it looks the quantity is less but believe me once you start you would not able to finish it :) .The taste was authentic so i was very much satisfied. Every thing was well cooked and the presentation was very good. Although i was surprised there was no dessert and apadam served which is quiet common in Indian based thali. Apart from that every thing was superb. Over all i was very satisfied and i would recommend this restaurant. Thumbs up from my side. Vegetarian options: Appam, sambhar , dishes made of pine apple, thali Wheelchair accessibility: There is little bump due to which it was tough for us to maneuver the stroller. We have to lift the stroller.
Great authentic place for some South Indian Kerela cuisine.
We ordered a chicken(kozhi kurumulagai) and grilled fish. The chicken was very tough and the fish (which was 8£) was quite oily and very little on the plate. If I m paying this much I expect good presentation and good food on the plate . The Appam was the best thing on the table.
The Tilapia in banana leaf is incredible.
Very friendly and efficient including tasty vegan food. Really looking forward to the opening of their new wholely vegetarian branch Vegetarian options: Very friendly and efficient including tasty vegan food. Really looking forward to the opening of their new wholely vegetarian branch
Perfect place to eat in 10/10
This place serves an amazing food. I am vegetarian and I absolutely loved it. I stay very close to this place but some how I managed so far to miss it. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic South Indian coastal food/sea food. Food : 5/5
Good Indian taste
Their Thali undoubtedly one of the best in town. Sambhar could do with more spice and Dosa could be thicker but even then tastes great for a Non South Indian. Chicken coconut curry and Kalamari is another hit with some zinging on ur taste buds.
So we me and the wife pop in know and then for masala dosa and tea but today was the waste day ever the staff were half sleep the masala dosa the potato s were hard told the staff they were not interested
Good place for dine
Would love to go back again! The food was great.
Comfortably furnished, staff very friendly, food very good.
Fab as always. Food delicious. Service courteous. Highly recommended.
AVOID- AVOID- AVOID- AVOID - AVOID I cant believe that none of the bridal party shared their experience of this restaurant, avoid like the plague. They got messed around with their booking, had menus given to then with no indication on what was spicy and what was not, food was poor followed by and even poorer service. Asked for water 12 times to the point where they had to start counting the amount theyve had to ask. Upon collecting the plates the waiter dropped a stack of dishes onto one of the bridal parties arms causing swelling etc, they were also very reluctant to record this event in their accident book until a member of the bridal party almost had to force them to do so. The party still paid over 200 pound for the meal and service which had to be argued about. The only reason Im reviewing is because none of them have and people should be aware of this terrible establishment. If I was there I wouldnt have paid a thing, and you would have a legal battle on your hands. Update: No response to this review definitely says alot about this restraunt, they are happy to respond to good reviews but have nothing to say when a seriously damaging review is written, not even a simple apology.
Wanted to try South Indian food and Just came out after lovely lunch . Everything was super delicious . Highly of the meal was Tilapia fish and dosa . Staff is very polite and helpful . Definitely will be coming back .
A return for us, and just as good as wed remembered. We both had a Thali, which started with a hot and sour soup then the 8 little dishes of wonder, followed by a dessert of something like vermicelli in a thin warm custard.
Great friendly and helpful staff, Clean enviroment, Well done! Food : 5/5
Amazing service . An unavoidable transport issue caused a guest bottleneck on a Saturday night, meaning that we had to wait a while to be seated at our pre-booked table. The staff were absolutely incredible: they were hugely apologetic and handled this unavoidable scenario gracefully and ensured that we were more than compensated for the inconvenience. The food was brilliant and we will be returning. This is how business should be done. Thank you :)
Dhosa heaven. The flavours are particularly divine but no grumbles in any aspect. You will have an enjoyable experience I m sure. Parking is easy and local too
One of our favourites! Great food, great atmosphere. Really interesting choice of dishes - very different to your regular Indian Restaurant. Highly recommend a visit Vegetarian options: Great choices for vegetarian and vegan.
Loved the taste and traditional Kerala style environment.
One of the good place for the Indian food, however the food will be not spicy which is disappointing for the spicy food lovers. Overall it has nice ambience and atmosphere compared to most of the other restaurants in the region. The service was bit late which is quite common in such busy restaurants. Can give it a try definitely. It would be better if management also play s some other good Indian musical video which represents the country culture not just only the Kerala.
A wonderful place! The food is so tasty and authentic (Indian partner approved). The prices are great, I love the lunch options (pictured).
The restaurant is very packed as it is a Friday, And movability is limited Overall experience is fine The paneer is a bit on the rubbery side and tastes more store-bought the sauce it came with is spicy just as portion wise is abit small The dosa would be the main attraction to the place as it doesnt fit in the plate compared and is crispy-paper thin with ample filling The chicken biryani was ok- bit into multiple elaichi but isnt anything extravagant Worthy of a visit but will leave a hole in the wallet
Masala dosa and chicken biryani delicious. Great atmosphere like (Desi) Indian feeling in restaurant. Parking: You will find paid parking anywhere near restaurant.
The best Indian! The staff lovely and friendly, great choice in vegan/vegatarian options which are all delicious! My favourite place to eat Vegetarian options: So many options!
Thank you always spot on
Delicious authentic South Indian (Kerala) food. Would definitely recommend
Delicious friendly and good seating
Very good south Indian food, a bit different to your normal Indian, well recommended
Didnt really like the food.
Excellent food, good flavours, nicely spiced so you could still taste the fish, eggs or meat. Different selection to most Indian restaurants in England. The rabbit starter is one to try. The magician was a nice treat and really good.
This is the best place for Kerala food that I have had in the UK. Its very authentic and love the atmosphere. So highly recommended for anyone who loves Kerala cuisine
Amazing food. Lovely venue
Cant fault it. Delicious food, great service and a lovely atmosphere
Delicious food and friendly staff. Highly recommend!
I cannot praise the Leamington restaurant highly enough. There are only great things to say about it. We were invited to a free buffet last Sunday to celebrate yet another round of awards. Not only was the food spectacular, the smiles from staff light up the room. The table magician was fantastic too. May they prosper and I wish all good things for them
Delicious menu inspired by Kerala (S India) which was extremely tasty. Service was faultless, We weren t rushed through the courses and the ambience is so warm and relaxed. I left my handbag behind and it was returned safely, thank you.
Fabulous food and excellent service!!! It was lovely to spend our afternoon at Kayal today ..Mr.Arjun was really awesome.. He made sure we are happy and enjoying the food .. Thank you .we ordered chiken biriyani and fish items ,Couldn t take more pics as our little one was bit grumpy today..!
I had a fantastic meal here recently - honestly one of the nicest meals and certainly one of the nicest Indian meals I ve had in years. I can t remember the exact name but it was the curry from the Malabar coast with the steamed rice dumplings. Delicious flavors that had me thinking about it for a good while afterwards.
Beautiful food think this is the best Indian food in lean
one of my favourite retsaurants in leamington. delicious food and the staff is so kind.
Great restaurant, lovely food, great atmosphere... Highly recommended
Great customer service, ambiance and great tasty food! X
Dosa, perfect for lunch. Looking forward to getting out an evening meal soon. Evening very busy, but quality of food seems still good. Inevitably when catering for a large number, things like the veg accompaniments are a bit samey. Parking: This is a street location, but leamington has plenty of parking.
Excellent night out. Arjun was so helpful..excellent service
Great place to visit . The flavour of fish curry and chicken was amazing. We loved our visit. Especially service was great. Vegetarian options: Vegan available Dietary restrictions: They got gluten free , dairy free and nuts free dishes on the menu.
We had been hearing about Kayal, the Kerala restaurant in Leamington Spa, ever since we started staying in Coventry, and many times our plans to visit were canceled at the last minute. Finally, today, we made it there. The ambiance was superb, and the service was excellent. However, the food was just decent and it fell short of our expectations, except for their Appam, which was exceptionally good. We tried dishes like Poth ulathiyath, lamb curry, appam, porotta, chicken biriyani and a seafood platter. So an average food based on the dishes we ordered.
Very good food and excellent service - the waiters just appear and disappear and suddenly theres food on the table! Vegetarian options: There are plenty of vegeterian options for those who need it and also vegan options.
I regret to say that my experiences at Kayal Restaurant have been far from satisfactory, and I feel compelled to share my concerns. Firstly, I had made a phone reservation for a team dinner, but when I arrived on the scheduled day, it was nothing short of chaotic. The table wasnt set, and to make matters worse, the staff questioned the validity of my reservation. This lack of organization and professionalism was truly disappointing. Secondly, I decided to give Kayal another chance during an Onam Sadya event. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a major disappointment. The food seemed to have been reheated from the previous day, and the rice had an unpleasant odour. To make matters worse, the meal left us with upset stomachs, and we fell ill during the night. This experience was not only disappointing but also concerning for our health and well-being. Overall, my encounters with Kayal have been marked by poor service, questionable food quality, and a lack of attention to customer satisfaction. I had hoped for a better experience, but sadly, I cannot recommend this restaurant based on my encounters. I believe that constructive feedback can help businesses improve, and I sincerely hope that Kayal takes these concerns seriously and strives to provide a better dining experience in the future.
Unfortunately, Kayal has deteriorated rapidly in recent times. Much as the food used to be good, recent experiences we have had have been rather bad. The food does not seem like it is freshly made and it is definitely not authentic South Indian food anymore. We have had the same experience both while ordering for delivery and while dining at the restaurant. The most recent experience at the restaurant was having an Onam Sadhya, which is an important traditional meal for us. From the presentation of the food (which was on a wilted Banana tree leaf), to the number of dishes (far under the standard), to the taste and quality of the dishes, the food was very disappointing. The sad part is, we will now have to wait a year to have the same meal, which will definitely be at a different restaurant. Imagine having your Christmas meal ruined!
Lovely place and great food really enjoyed .will be coming soon thank you for the wonderful treat Vegetarian options: Good portions
It was a good experience for me at Kayal after coming from Kerala. It was my first visit at Kayal and I was having kallushapu meen curry and appam. I had very delicious and mind-blowing food as I thought I was at home for some time. I also thank Tone for the hospitality shown by him. It was a moment when I remembered that I was in my country. It was such a cool food. So its highly recommended...
Kayal restaurant made my day truly delightful. I order kallappam, biriyani, paratha, and mixed seafood curry, and they all exceeded my expectations. Among the bread options, I particularly enjoyed the kallappam, which paired wonderfully with creamy curry. The accompanying gravy elevated the thalassery biriyani to another level. I must also mention the outstanding packaging. I want to express my gratitude to the kayal team and eagerly look forward to trying more of their offerings in the future.
Food was not that great..could use improvement for the price we paid. Felt my masala chai was very watered down.
Very costly not worth it.
Amazing tasting ingredients in a taste of India in a major city in England Kid-friendliness: Great arrangement
Vegetarian options: Absolutely amazing kerala cuisine. One of the best in the North West and Midlands. Authentic south indian dishes served in this restaurant. Parking: Will have to find street parking in one of the cross roads if the paid street parking outside the restaurant is full.
Delicious food. Vegetable thali was gorgeous. So tasty and so much. The staff were friendly and helpful
Absolutely blown by the taste of food at this restaurant. Authentic kerala taste.
We had the most amazing meal and Chrztyn made our meal special Vegetarian options: veggie curry Food : 5/5 |
A jewel. Fantastic food.
Not worth for money anymore. They have reduced the items in the menu, particularly the vegetarian curries. They dont serve the malabar parotta any longer. I would recommend eating in Coventry if youd like south Indian food as there are good restaurants which are very reasonable pricewise too.
Fantastic. Food was so good I wanted to fill a bathtub with it and roll around
Amazing food, attentive and friendly service. Will definitely return.
I recently dined at Kayal, a South Indian cuisine restaurant. The food was undeniably delicious, though it did lack the authentic spiciness that is often associated with South Indian dishes. The restaurants ambiance is truly remarkable, featuring opulent interiors, which contribute to an overall upscale experience. The staffs warm welcome and the impeccable cleanliness of the washroom were notable. Additionally, Kayal offers an upstairs dining area for those seeking a different atmosphere. However, as a South Indian myself, I couldnt help but notice that the prices were exceptionally high, even for basic tea snacks. It left me with the impression that the pricing might be tailored more towards the local residents in the area. The milder spice level in the dishes also appeared to cater to a broader, potentially non-Indian, audience.
Experience to repeat! Super friendly and nice staff. Excellent dishes: we tried a bit of everything and everything was tasty, good and perfect. The atmosphere is characteristic and quite particular! The drinks are a little too particular, perhaps we need to review the menu with something simple and common, but if you want, cocacola and other verandas are available. I recommend this place and will definitely be back, best Indian restaurant we have ever been to! Compliments ;)
Quality food in a very good ambience. Friendly staff. Food
Good food from South India
This restaurant was an Indian one with a difference. Cuisine from Kerala (S India) which certainly extremely tasty. Spices with a great dinner gave us a chance to have a great dinner. Too many options to mentions, dishes that differed from your normal run-of-the-mill Indian type food. The restaurant is in a street packed with every type of food eatery you could think of. The inside, seating area was quite crowded for mid week so that speaks for itself. The decor was tastefully done, the young lady serving us was ace. Also has a 1965 BSA motorbike on display, see my pic. 10/10 for our first visit to Leamington for many years
This place was recommended by my friend who had eaten many of the food from this place. Food was amazing with proper customer service, wonderful atmosphere, staffs were sweet and helpful. I really recommend lamb pepper fry which is the most favourite dish of my friend. We had a good time in kayal
Had the authentic kayak fish curry and Kerala parota last time one of the best I had in uk and our waitress Lekshmi was really kind and helped us to order some amazing food
Lovely, different menu, beef chaps highly recommended.
Not bad very pricy
The app can be improved. But the ambience is awesome.
Lovely staff, great place and tasty food. Not your average curry house but authentic South Indian cuisine.
Expensive Korma, nothing else. Dined here a few times and whilst it is impressive the first time after that it offers nothing new. The sauces all taste the same and are too rich leaving you with a sickly feeling if you are not careful. Service was friendly but completely incompetent missing one of our parties starters. For the money you expect better.
Incredible food and service. Staff cannot do enough and food is delicious. Would give 6* if possible
Very authentic and tasty food, good service and the interior of the restaurant is also nicely decorated.
Second visit and great both times. Had the business mans lunch first time and chicken dosa the second. So tasty and a bit different. Would recommend.
Kayal is always a great experience, it had a positive ambience with good cleanliness index. We ordered the special of the day fish biryani - really spellbound from the taste and quantity of the dish. Definitely a go to restaurant for me and my spouse.
The food is very nice, especially the Paper Masala Dosa, which I think is a must try. You have plenty of other options, including vegetarian food, curries, and nice juices. The problem is that the service can be very slow and miss things, so be aware that this is a good restaurant for a slow meal.
We had a fabulous lunch today, served by friendly helpful staff. We chose the Buisness set lunch and an Express set menu. Both extremely good subtle flavour, and at a very reasonable price. A generous glass of white wine to go with it. I would definitely highly recommend, and will go again!
Great food. Attentive and friendly staff
Lovely place, lovely food, lovely people
