18 Newbold St, Leamington Spa CV32 4HN, United Kingdom
Artful hangout decorated in vintage comic books offering pub fare & tapas, plus beer, whisky & wine.
Attended at lunchtime for a festive christmas party. The food was beautifully presented. Great quality and very tasty too. The staff were friendly and efficient. Great wine list too. I will definitely go back.
Cosy modern pub near to Jephson Gardens. Plenty of space and not a bad beer selection. There are food options though I didn't partake.
Fab place for craft beer and good food. I had the 3 small plates/tapas highly recommend that. A few craft beers on tap. Dog friendly. Staff very friendly and helpful, our waitress was excellent ( Megan/ megantron ? ) i'm sure thats what was on her badge. Prices were a bit expensive
Food was very very good and quick, the mixed sunday roast was really tasty and a rly generous portion!! Lucy served us on the bar and was rly attentive! We’ll definitely be back :))
popped in a for a quick drink - had wanted to eat as I saw the good reviews, but we were too early, really lovely pub/bar, great staff and vibe!
Beer selection is really good. Lovely south African lady serving makes the experience 10 times better. They even have some unique lagers that i remember from living in Germany. The atmosphere is always great and the location is superb. My only request would be for a chicken burger main addition as I'm not a big fan of beef. Returned with family smoked chicken was delicious. Expensive but very satisfying. I love it here never too busy or rowdy. Perfect for people who don't like places too loud. Staff are more than helpful and kind.
What an interesting venue to go for lunch or a pint. Love the style, the posters and the bright Led sign downstairs. The staff that work here are really friendly, warm and happy to chat. Really enjoyed the turkey curry pie. Recommended!
Amazing, had a really lovely evening. Came with some friends for dinner, we had all the tapas (other than the olives), and the burger. Everything was really good and tasty. Nice selection of wines. Didn’t try any of the desserts as we were full! Service was amazing, the staff was really good and attentive. Overall, would highly recommend!
The Tapas is good, especially the Spam fritters. The Banana Chocolate mouse promised much delivered little.
Went for office dinner. Enjoyed the food soooo much. I had the Pan roasted market fish. So Yum!
We had a wonderful lunch! Super good, great drinks and excellent service
Poss the Best beer of the Day at this pub, from Firebrand in Cornwall. But its a gastro, not many seats for drinkers.but enjoyed my visit.
Excellent service, VERY accommodating and delicious food.
Delicious food and great atmosphere
Didnt eat there, but great retro atmosphere with good range of beers and ciders. Loved the decor. Ccc
Excellent choice for variety of tapas between 4 people
Great GF menu and beer on tap with a very friendly service. Retro decor. All so good Dietary restrictions: Great GF menu
Its definitely worth a visit
Charged £8 for a pint. Avoid! Good atmosphere, but massively overpriced and feels like you re rushed out.
A very busy and bustling pub/restaurant with a great atmosphere. Good range of vegan & vegetarian dishes. The service was great as was the food. Good choice of beers. Vegetarian options: There were 3 vegetarians and one meat eater. There is a separate vegan/vegetarian menu, with the limited vegetarian options also on the main menu. Everyone found their food well presented, well cooked and delicious.
Overcharged and no apology, left after one drink, very rude bar staff member
We were having an impromptu catch up with family from up north. We werent sure where to meet up. We had never been to the Drawing Board before, but after reading the online reviews we decided to give it a try. I am so glad we did. What a gem.of a place! We had a wonderful evening The service is first class. The staff are just amazing. Such a lovely bunch of people. And it doesnt stop there. We all had burgers, one of which was gluten free , all delicious! Lovely atmosphere. I really cant fault this place. Thank you guys for a lovely evening. We will be back.
Whats there to say, its the best pub in Leamington, friendly, a massive selection of drinks choices, clean and welcoming. A must visit.
What a find! I was in Leamington for the day and needed a nice place for lunch with a friend. The staff were fantastic - really friendly, funny and engaging. The food was fab - my friend and I both had Sunday roast followed by crumble and custard. They were faultless.
Lovely friendly local. One of the few pubs in Leamington thats clean and not run down!
I ate here on Sunday with my family for a late lunch. We had a mix of vegans, veggies and omnis so the menu appealed to all of us. We really enjoyed our food! It was well thought out and nicely cooked - particular shout out to the vegan fish and chips and pistachio arancini, so nice to see the same effort going into vegan dishes as omni dishes. The service was excellent and the staff moved us from our original table as we were sat next to quite a rowdy bunch initially, we were moved downstairs where it was quieter. Would recommend to anyone in the area. :) Vegetarian options: Great veggie/vegan options including tapas, banana blossom fish and chips, burger, noodles, risotto and a selection of puddings. Dietary restrictions: Great for vegans and veggies with GF options too.
First time visitor. Loved it. Super friendly staff great service and food
My favourite pub in Leamington. Quirky with friendly staff and great beer and food selections. Parking: There is a council car park behind the pub! On Sundays if the spa centre isn t doing anything there is parking there also for free
Loved it here! Cool decor, fun books to browse through and really friendly, helpful staff.
Very friendly service and great food!
My partner and I came here recently, after reading the great reviews. It did not disappoint. An entire vegan menu! You can tell each dish has been well thought out, with care and love put into creating something different and special! Lots of flavour and fresh. We came in on a Thursday evening & the atmosphere was lively, and the restaurant cosy. The beers were excellent. Our host was Julia and she was so lovely & down to earth.. you can tell shes very passionate about the place. We cant wait to come back to try the roast dinner! Cant wait to try the roast & try out the magic wingdom. Vegetarian options: Whole vegan menu!
And dog friendly :-)
Meh
Lovely place with amazing food. An entire vegan menu and really lovely staff. Cant wait to go back!
Dog friendly, polite staff and great food!
I ve always had good food experiences here. They do craft ales as well as normal bar drinks - so something for everyone. Service is really good. Friendly, attentive and helpful. My ONLY issue was last night it was hot outside which made it super hot inside.
Spectacular service, great food and a fabulous night out
Been here a few times now for a roast dinner on a Sunday. Amazing roasts! Friendly staff and a good atmosphere.
Superb food and amazing service. Made my mums birthday very special. Thank you team drawing board
Good service and sunday dinner
Fantastic better than watching EastEnders
Went here for my birthday with my family. Lovely place, fab decor, staff are great. Ordered the risotto with truffled parsnips and Stilton and asked not to have the mushrooms, which was accommodated with no issue. Would have 5-starred the food but felt there wasnt a wide choice of un-fussy food. Daughter ordered from the kids menu as a result. Would recommend, and will be back.
Just had coffee and tea.
Brilliant place, been 3 times now for different meals etc and its all been rather wonderful. Staff are great, lots of beers and wines to choose from, worth a visit if youre in Leamington Spa and only 100 yards from the park to walk it off afterwards. Perfect.
Great, friendly pub with excellent staff and dog friendly too. The four stars for food are meant to highlight the outstanding service and atmosphere rather than downplay the food, which is super too. Our go-to place when in RLS. We love the Comic Book art work.9
Lovely place with welcoming and friendly staff. Great gluten free options!
Vegetarian options: They have a separate vegan menu so proper choices for vegetarians/ vegans. Lovely friendly service and our little dog is welcome. This is the second time we have been. Will be going again. Food
Very happy great service
Modern pub with festive ambience. They have a great selection of beers so its nice for just having a few drinks as well as having food. Revisited my comment. Ive had food in it last week and it was really good quality, but not cheap. Dog friendly!!
Stumbled across this pub whilst looking for somewhere else...which we never hot to because we liked the Drawing Board so much. Quirky but relaxed modernised decor with a very relaxed atmosphere. Not a trad pub interior! Real ale was super and well kept. Loved the food: ate the vegan tempura battered fish, which was delicious. Sadly, had no room for dessert!!! Staff very friendly and attentive. One to go back to....
Been on 2 seperate occasions and will definitely return whenever Im in Leamington. Excellent staff, excellent food (vegan tapas #1) and all round great place to spend time, whether for a drink or something to eat. Highly recommend.
Went in for some German beer on a recommendation. Food was just finishing and they asked us if we were wanting to eat and rushed are order through so we could. We has a great burger fries and some nice German larger. The owner is into old comics and annuals there are loads of them in there
I went to this pub with my partner (a ceoliac) and our friend. Whilst the food tasted great and we all enjoyed our meal, it then became clear sometime after that some cross contamination fo gluten must have occurred on my partners meal. We hadnt eaten anything else and she was showing clear signs of having eaten gluten. Very disappointing as we made it clear my parter was a coeliac and all of her food had to be made gluten free. My partner will now have to endure at least a week of painful and incessant bowel movements. The vibe was good though. Dietary restrictions: They say gluten free on the menu but my partner started suffering with signs of gluten contamination after leaving.
Great selection of beers, friendly service, nice atmosphere
After two visits its easy to give five stars to The Drawing Board! This bar/restaurant is run to a high standard, by people who care about what they are doing, and how its done. Its great to see Managers who keep on top of everything that needs doing, leading by example and keeping staff motivated. Ive tried the Fish & Chips and it tasted as good as it looked. Excellent! Cant wait to try other meals from the menu. Thanks to all the staff, see you soon.
Nice relaxed friendly atmosphere only had drinks but lovely place
The food was pretty good, but not exceptional. I will however make a particular shout out for the chicken roast. The roast chicken itself in the dish was superb - probably the best roast chicken Ive had, definitely within a pub context. It was succulent, so flavourful and not dry at all, as many are. The staff were all very friendly and pleasant a d the atmosphere is cosy and has a nice aesthetic comprised of old comics and books
We booked several days in advance for dinner with a request for a particular table - done. Nothing is too much bother Service is A1. Always. The staff are very professional and utterly charming. The food? We had 6 of the tapas dishes (between 2) which was plenty. The variety was great and each plate was delicious. In the words of the big Austrian I ll be back !
Went in for a drink on a midweek , really nice pub
Leamington is spoiled for good places to socialise and eat, but this is one of the best. The food is always good, its a great place to have fun / chat / unwind and the service is brilliant. A great selection of drinks at the bar too.
a wonderful evening beautiful food lovelyatmosphere and great serviceshell definitely return again
I came in for a hot drink with my baby, I was helped into the pub with my pushchair and offered a good table. The bar staff took my order and said they would bring it over which was really helpful. I was also offered water to warm the babies bottle without having to ask. A very appreciative Mom
Lovely dinner.
Great selection of beer and a great atmosphere with relaxed vibe. Good food if youre hungry and decent service
Delicious Sunday roast and the place has a great atmosphere too!
I went to the Drawing Board twice for a Christmas meal, and on both occasions the food was exceptional. They cater for allergies including mine, seafood fish and molluscs. They offer a really tasty DRAFT zero alcohol beer which is rare and much appreciated especially if driving. The atmosphere is wonderful and the decor interesting. The staff are friendly and anticipate your needs payment is handle efficiently with no confusion. Parking is on site of you have the Ringo app or on street parking is also available both a mixed costs depending on time of day. Dietary restrictions: They do cater for allergies (fish, seafood and molluscs) but call ahead and let the staff know when you arrive. Parking: Ringo onsite or on street.
Best place in town. If you are looking for a lovely meal, great service the best craft beer, ales, wines, whiskey and rum in Leamington spa, then this is the place. Every time we go here it is nothing short of fantastic and deserves the accolade of best pub in Leamington
Called in without a booking and all staff could not have been more accommodating. Nice, laidback atmosphere. Good selection of food and drink. The waiters were very efficient and professional.
Great atmosphere in this pub. Always busy and a good selection of food at a reasonable price. Always a good and different selection of craft beers and spirits which is probably the USP. However really need to sort their draught pouring given that s their uniqueness. Several different pints always quite flat with no head. Really expected a picturesque pour. Would always visit again.
Superb roast looked after Jacob and team. Really cool interior and a nice vibe for a chill out. Highlight was playing uno card game. Fun for all the family!
The best roast I have ever had, anywhere. Chicken and stuffing perfect, glorious red cabbage. Just fantastic and lovely staff. Strongly recommend.
Lovely welcome, great attitude and service. Lovely food
Great place, great staff and great food
Great Bar and fantastic service by Blue
Food was brilliant, vegan tapas was especially good and excellent roasts. Very friendly staff and fun decor. We had a great time!
Good food and good ambience. Would highly recommend
Great selection of craft beers served with a smile. Nice beer garden and decoration.
Excellent bar for a drink with friends or date. Great atmosphere and a handy location on the way in or out of Leamington.
Most dog friendly pub I think we have ever visited. Very cool comic themed pub and restaurant. Great food with good vegetarian and vegan options, but a little pricey. Excellent selection of ales.
the food here was exceptional and the service was fantastic i would defiantly come here again when next in the area.
amazing service, lovely and friendly towards us, i am really impressed would differently come gain and recommend
Great place. Really nice staff and lovely food.
Love this place
The drinks were excellent. The meals not so.
Enjoyed a great lunch today with friends. Lovely varied menu and great service. Food perfectly prepared. Thanks!
Lovely bar/pub/restaurant in Leamington Spa. We came here for some lunch and the food was delicious. Great decor - especially amused by the skateboard loo roll holder
Eclectic and inviting pub with a good selection of beers. Friendly staff, interesting decor and welcoming atmosphere. Short walking distance from Leamington town centre, would definitely recommend taking a trip there
Enjoyed tapas and drinks.
good food great staff
It was a lovely place.
Great selection of beers. All the staff were super friendly and the food was great. Would recommend
Brilliant.
Great atmosphere and they sell Tiny Rebel!
Food decent but not great. Ambience is very good. Different.
Excellent spot for Sunday lunch. Booking essential. Quirky ambience and good service.
Great service from the staff and nothing seemed like too much trouble when we were asking about ingredients. Food was amazing with so many different flavours we will definitely be going back.
Had a stop off here en-route to Assembly Rooms. Enjoyed good service with a great real ale pint. Will definately return.
Good selection of craft beers
Loved the food, veg options are less but non veg was good, nice place to have fun with friends played board games and had lots of fun
Very friendly staff and good selection of beers and ales. Let down was on the food which tasted good but the portions and price were very steep compared to other places. Same issue with the alcoholic beverages
An absolutely fantastic pub, such friendly staff, especially the lady originally from Harrogate, who had an aunt in Idle. Bar staff very friendly to us and the dog. Hopefully see you again in the future. Thank you x
Came in for dinner (5 adults plus a dog) staff were very welcoming and our main server Tom was friendly and very informative. Went with his recommendations for food and we re not disappointed! Great food, great selection of drinks and excellent service (bonus that we can bring the dog in)
Great atmosphere, great ales, delicious Sunday Roast with inventive starters. Dog friendly. The croissant bread & butter pudding is worth breaking a diet for.
Great vibes, great cocktails, great beer and IPAs most of all great friendly staff. The overally place is relaxed and chilled, great for wind down or somewhere to have great evening. The staff are always happy to answer questions. Vegan and vegetarian options available. Hifhly recommend.
Absolutely phenomenal. I didnt know food could taste that good. The service was amazing, and the food was absolutely delicious. The truffle fries were an absolute revelation and I am still in awe at how delicious and amazing they were. Plus, I like trying to read the manga in the toilets! Vegetarian options: Plenty of choice. 2 of our party were vegetarian and the options available to them were great. Dietary restrictions: One of our party is celiac and the staff were amazingly competent at ensuring he only ate what was safe for him. When the tapas dishes were brought out she made a point to clearly explain which dishes he could and could not eat.
3rd visit for us, brought my parents for a birthday treat. I had the burger over the tapas but felt it was missing some salad or garnish. We visited on a Saturday early afternoon and sat down stairs, it was quite noisy and we struggled to have a conversation. Great service as always and a busy vibe but if youre planning on a catch up with friends/family at peak times you have to shout a little.
Ive always noted The Drawing Board as a great spot for drinks but hadnt had a chance to try the food. They have an impressive selection of beers on draft which are a little more expensive than your average pub/bar in Leamington but you pay for the rarity of the selection; I recommend the Rothaus Pils. I think a big draw (excuse the pun) for this place is the atmosphere and decor. On a recent visit I went for the tapas as £12 for 3 plates seemed like great value and some of the main dishes were quite pricey. I was pleasantly surprised by the portion sizes and actually struggled to finish everything. The cauliflower pakora was amazing and the chicken was very tasty. The pork tacos though were a little disappointing as the flavour didnt seem quite right. However, overall I really enjoyed eating there and would definitely visit again to try the other dishes.
Great food, great beer, great staff and dog friendly, whats not to love? Maybe the prices, its a bit steep sometimes, but worth it.
Lovely inviting place with great seating options for small as well as bigger groups, great atmosphere and friendly staff. The tapas selection was lovely and the portion seemed plenty. Only downside is that it can be quite echoey/noisy when it is busy.
Shout out to the Ben and Matty Cartwright. Place was amazing. Favorite spot! food and service was outstanding. Had my first gin with Crescent Moon
Brilliant experience here and been multiple times. Mainly go for the Sunday roast. Great for members of the group who are required dairy and gluten free.
Amazingly friendly. We had a 4 generation meet up for lunch and we werent disappointed. Wheelchair accessible, dog and child friendly with superb staff and busy atmosphere. Very clean and food was lovely. My only thing I would say is that the plates are on the smaller side for the price but the food tastes amazing. I had the monk fish curry. Yummy. Side of fries were lovely and crunchy. We all enjoyed. Craft beer too. Definitely recommend. Book in advance is a must for a Saturday. DOG FRIENDLY TOO Parking: All paid parking outside the business at the back. A couple of disabled spaces. Parking on streets and parking in available in another private parking area near and spaces by the park (think this is paid parking too but Im not sure). Kid-friendliness: My little one ran around a bit and they were very friendly and kind. High chairs available and kids food and drink options. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible through the rear of the business. Not the best entrance as you can park outside the entrance but it is possible. Call ahead and they can put a ramp down for them. The toilets are not exactly wheelchair accessible but there is a handle in one of the loos to help and the toilets are larger than usual and very clean. Theres enough space downstairs for multiple wheelchairs without feeling too cosy.
First time at the drawing board went for a family meal. Was OK but wasnt cheap the food is expensive so not somewhere for a budget meal. Drinks ok nothing Ive heard of so it was a bit of a gamble. Overall it was OK, its not somewhere Id suggest to go again but would go if someone else wanted to
Dietary restrictions: Very careful with fish allergy. Recommended dishes
Nice Sunday roast just a bit disappointed as I viewed the Internet and it said lamb was one of the roasts but it wasnt.
Food was great but prices are a bit too steep plus the owner (I think) is a bit pushy on encouraging every one to drink and eat more. Dogs were a bit louder that I would have liked. Overall, a nice place to hang out with friends / family and pets Parking: Free after 6 PM near the park
Drawing Board is one of the best places I ve been to eat. Their food menu items are creative, incorporate unique flavors and all around are super delicious. The service is always spot on and the beer choices and drink menu are extensive. Their prices appear more expensive than your average restaurant, however, taking into consideration the level of thought of each menu items and the harmonious flavors in each dish that compliment each other it is well worth the price for quality dishes.
The food was good and definitely recommend even though a bit expensive. If you serve those in a restaurant like place I think they are worth the price but here the service it s pub like.
I had a pork roast - wonderful food and service. However no Yorkshire pudding, with no prompt that you can have it at an additional cost. The service however was of a very good standard, with great drinks recommendations. The dessert was fantastic. I would definitely recommend this to friends, but perhaps would not go for a roast next time.
Great beer in a nice laid back environment
We visited here after being recommended by Valentines Tattoo Studio ! It did not disappoint, the food was amazing, the service was quick and the staff were all so friendly. We loved the decor and wandered around looking at all the comic books and features We are not from the area but would definitely revisit if we came to Leamington Spa again
Absolutely wonderful interior, a fun vibe, kind staff and absolutely delicious food. The mushroom dish was delightful!
Great dog friendly pub, food was delicious, staff really nice and a great atmosphere- highly recommend
What a lovely find in a beautiful town. Delicious food, great menu, super friendly staff and just a great place to hang out.
Perfect evening, great quality food and you get what you pay for. All was delicious
The food was excellent, we had a variety of different dishes and each one was fantastic. The service was superb, Julia in particular was outstanding, warm, friendly, efficient and entertaining. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. We will be recommending to everyone. Dietary restrictions: They have a gluten free menu, which is excellent and they are very helpful with accommodating other dietary requirements.
The DB always delivers. The food is great, the service excellent and there are lots of quirky touches which make it simply a lovely place to be. The menu is reasonably small but carefully crafted. The staff genuinely care, you can just tell they enjoy working there and this comes across in the service you receive. Dog friendly and games to play too..
Lovely food and drink, a very friendly atmosphere and great service! What more could you ask for?
Lovely tapas and glass of wine .
I love this pub. Interesting and well cooked food and they always have excellent beers.
Super good atmosphere, friendly and fast staff, fabulous food I loved it we would drive 1 hour just to eat here. Recommended: (taco tapas)
Bugers are amazing
We came to visit our daughter who is at uni and we loved our lunch at The Drawing Board. Excellent food, one of the best roasts we have had, amazing friendly staff and our little Yorkshire terrier had a lovely time too. Definitely recommend!
I had the gnocchi which was very few (around 5 gnocchi), I would not recommend them. Overpriced but good atmosphere
Just went in for a pint but it was enjoyable, liked the decor.
Very disappointing experience. Dropped in early on a Saturday evening and asked if food was being served. Bar tender said yes and passed over 2 menus. Went to sit at 2 tables (no reservation signs on the tables) and was moved on by another bar person. Luckily two kind gentleman offered seats next to them where we could sit and finish our drinks after which we left. Hint to the owners if you re fully booked tell people and don t expect them to be telepathic.
Great place. Loads of drink choices be it craft beer and wine or alcohol free. Plus a well stocked top shelf of whisky and other spirits. Sunday roast was spot on. But do ring ahed and book in advance as it fills up. Dogs were welcome and even got treats from the staff.
Very nice restaurants. They have seating downstairs and upstairs. Unfortunately no elevator but we managed without it. Food tasted good and portions are big enough. We were satisfied. Service is good and fast. Dietary restrictions: Allergens are taken into account carefully Kid-friendliness: Good childrens menu.
Food was delicious, gluten free menu also available, staff was very nice, friendly and professional and the atmosphere was just great.
Wow.. the whole experience from start to finish was amazing 10/10 plus dog friendly too bonus Ziggy was brilliant
Lovely place to stop by for a quick drink. Food looked great, will partake next time.
Dietary restrictions: Amazing gluten free options! Food
Consistently exceptional food & beers with wonderful service.
Food was amazing - absolutely loved the cheesecake, best we have ever had. Staff were great too. Well be back :)
Eaten here before, had superb meal, also been here before for drinks, had great selection of ales. Tonight however was rather taken aback when charged £6.80 for a local session ipa beer (Purity) when the other beers we ordered were the same brewery and similar abv, and were less than £5, the cost of the ipa was absolutely ridiculous. Felt like a total rip off.
Honestly, was blown away by this place. Bit on the pricey side, you absolutely get what you pay fot though. Incredible food, great service, really interesting decor that although comic book themed, isnt in your face. Service was excellent, beyond helpful, friendly and welcoming, only reason I havent given 5 stars is because a service charge is mandatory. It was that good I was going to leave a tip anyway, it being forced on you isnt great though.
Loved the tapas
Amazing roast, as always
Friendly service and atmosphere.
Overall a very good, well above average experience - The event was our work Christmas function for about 45 people, but they coped well, all the food was served on time and at the same time for all, which is always a challenge when large numbers. Service was quick and consistent. Food quality was very good and very tasty, but portions were a little on the small side. Nice decor with a very good selection of drinks
Another amazing time at The Drawing Board! Visited with a few friends and we all decided to get a few tapas dishes and truffle fries- did not disappoint! Great homely atmosphere and lovely staff on hand to talk through the menu or drink suggestions. I recommend trying the one of the Bloody Mary s on offer here- they are delish. If you can go for Sunday lunch, it s fab but their menu is great whatever the occasion. Vegetarian options: Available and a good offering compared to other venues of similar size menu Dietary restrictions: Offer a separate gluten free menu which is just as delicious as the main offering. They are very courteous to dietary preferences.
One of my favourite places in Leam. Consistently good food with great vegan and gluten free options. Great selection of beers and service is always friendly. Visited yesterday with a toddler and baby in tow and no booking...and despite it heaving with Christmas parties etc the service was outstanding and food and beer as good as ever.
Fabulous evening for my work xmas party. Beef shin was gorgeous. Staff attentive too!
Awful place
Had a company Xmas lunch here. 3 courses, great service, waiting staff couldnt do enough. Would definitely recommend a visit. Food
Xmas Dinner wasnt that special given the price.
Had our Christmas get together there, super friendly staff great food definitely 10 out of 10.
