Absolutely amazing roast dinner, huge portions and great value for money. Friendly service and really quick to come and take our order despite it being busy.
The fries were excellent and tasted very good. The service was outstanding; they helped me choose my meal and drink. Due to a small misunderstanding, the portion was a bit smaller than I expected, but the server sat down briefly with me, showed empathy, and apologized for the situation. I felt truly welcomed and warm-hearted. Thank you for the great service!
We called in advance to make a booking as a mid-drive roast stop on our way from Brighton to Manchester, but when we turned up they had no record of it. However the employees who served us were very accommodating and found us an empty table anyway. Me and my partner both ordered the chicken roast, and OH my god it was one of the best roast dinners we've both ever had!! I'm a chef who has been tortured by making roast dinners of varying quality over the years, so am admittedly quite fussy when it comes to eating roast dinners outside of the home. The roast chicken here was delicious though - crispiest entire 1/2 of a chicken, with the softest most flavoursome roasties you can imagine. Even the root veggies and green veg felt a valid part of the dish. Left totally stuffed and happy. The customer service was great too, all round a lovely vibe
We have been to the Fat Pug before and had a lovely experience. This time though the whole affair was very bad. For a starter, we had to ask for someone to take our order as we were waiting for quite a while. Staff at that point were not busy at all. Another thing that spoiled the experience for us was one of the ladies who were serving us. She had an awful cold and couldn't stop sneezing. At some point she cleaned her nose with the palm of her hand! Ok, I understand that people need to work and business has to keep going as usual, but use a tissue and don't sneeze all the time in front of the customers. Or go to another room... My wife and I ordered a roast dinner and a burger. My roast dinner came in the form of a soup, literally swimming in gravy. Everything soggy and disgusting. I asked for someone to empty some of the gravy, which they did, but everything still looked very soggy. The lady with the cold didn't even apologise. My wife's burger turned out that it was half-cooked with raw pieces of meat in it (photo attached)!!! We took the plate to the other girl who worked there and she was very polite, apologised and said that we didn't have to pay anything, which we appreciated a lot considering that the whole experience was abysmal. The only thing that was positive from the visit was that girl. She was polite, sympathetic and proffessional throughout. She deserves a massive praise from the owner of the business. The other woman, was rude and her behaviour disgusting (please use a tissue next time...).
Decent atmosphere and good service, however the two pizzas we had here were very disappointing. The pug pubs in Leamington are usually associated with good food, however both pizzas were undercooked, one was just drenched in BBQ sauce, the other was meant to be pulled chicken, which it was not. It’s a shame, because the pub itself is nice.
Five of us had food Kids really enjoyed it My wife and myself thought the food was fantastic and the staff as well
Lovely pub. Exceptionally friendly manager (Liv) who went out of her way in terms of customer service. Great food (I recommend the Filthy Fries)
First visit and it was a pleasent surprise. Service was quick and friendly and the food tasted amazing! Quite pricey but worth it for decent food. The decor and atmosphere of The Fat Pug is great the whole place felt lively and positive. We will definitely be visiting again. Onto the next Pug Pub on our Pug Crawl!
Christmas docs are up, love the staff team always fun
Good, but very overpriced and expensive for what it is. Pint of Guinness is £6 and a side of chips £5
Their Internet barely works!
My dog gives this pub a five star rating. Great lunch out.
Popular but expensive
Good for coffee as well as beer
Buzzing, dog friendly, good honest food, great choices all round
Staff were lovely and chatty, didnt have food this time but have few times before and cant fault it, very tasty and quick service, Atmosphere was as expected on a Wednesday evening. Love that its dog friendly and that they have treats available on the bar for the furry friends
About to move to this area, a great pub to have as my new local. Great beer choices, great service and atmosphere. Cant wait to move
OH MY GOODNESS THOSE CHIPS WERE EPIIIIIIIC!!! and those Cyprus Halloumi Fries were DEEEEEEVIIIIIIIINE! Totally recommend this place!
Front beer garden very small, my pint of HPA was not great
Great Pugfest
Went here for the pug crawl had a great day
their burgers are good and their roasts are decent too, would recommend the chicken roast.
Food is good but not consistent. Would recommend to go
Nice pub! As you would expect!
Great food and great atmosphere - plus its doggy friendly
Excellent, food, fabulous service and a really cool pub, go in if you are passing
Very noisy
My wife and I have been looking forward to coming down to Warwickshire to do the pug pub experience. We decided to start in the Fat Pug for some dinner before setting off to visit the other pug pubs in the area. Unfortunately, the food quality serviced to us was below our expectations. We had high hopes of some good pub grub here after reading reviews and scanning their menu, but we were let down by ridiculously bland, greasy food. For instance, you could literally pour 2 shot glasses of grease from a dish I ordered. The gravy tasted burnt (who burns gravy), and everything seemed overcooked. Overall, we were very disappointed. Staff were very friendly and the pub itself was nice. ** Just be mindful of their hidden 10% service charge (aka tip) written in the very small print of their menus. ** they take payment first and dont give you a receipt, nor do they tell you verbally either.. on top of there included 20% VAT.. Very naughty!
Very cosy
It was a locals pub, but we were made welcome We ate as wed come early the morning from Blackpool The fish a chips was great Beer was good too Food : 5/5 |
The area around the bar can get pretty busy so instead of risking spillage the staff offered to bring the beer to my table. Although Im not a local (yet) I just felt so welcomed. The food is amazing, the pies are deep and full I really recommend, beer amazing, with a great choice of craft ales, atmosphere really nice and relaxed. A good mix of traditional English pub and modern comfort.
A great night in a busy, thriving pub. Food was good. Had a great quiz going on too. Would definitely go again Food
Great local
The stuff was really nice and friendly, however the food was really oily, and not great quality
Very disappointed to be hit with a 10% surcharge. And not informed before we ordered our food. My fish and chips was very small fish
Maybe I should have had the roast but I chose the fish & chips. The fish wasnt very fresh and the batter was stodgy and not cooked well. Similarly the chips were rather oily and disappointing.
Spent my 40th birthday here, they were really friendly and accommodating. Dog friendly and the Sunday dinner was excellent. Good selection of drinks very chilled atmosphere.
Very friendly
Nice staff. Nice atmosphere. Food slightly over cooked on all 3 breakfast. Pancakes very overdone. But but good flavours.
a perfect place to spend it with friends, with good and tasty food, welcoming staff.
Great food and service. We had the mushroom and truffle pie, which was delicious and a pizza and fries. All yummy! Vegetarian options: Lots of great veggie options.
Very cozy English pub, Rather inconspicuous or uninviting from the outside but really great inside. Good beer selection and matching food I really enjoyed it
10/10 Sunday roast
Nice pub good food Like all 3 of the local Pugs
Incredible food and a good selection of ciders! Lovely staff and overall a great vibe
Dropped in for an in-promptu lunch on a Saturday. Plenty of tables available, with a nice, relaxed feel to the place. The burgers are well worth trying, although we had to wait around 50 minutes for the food to arrive at the table. We were advised that they were short staffed in the kitchen. The food was well worth the wait though.
A 4.5 in practice. Lovely staff, decent food enjoyed by the whole party, and a nice mix of clientele. A little pricey for some of the drinks but perhaps just a sign of the times. And dog friendly (as one would expect), especially if you have a pug!
Lovely atmosphere. Clean pub.
Great pub, good selection of beers.
Superb family lunch during the festive season. VERY fair prices excellent service. Having a private room for our party of 12 was just great. Wide selection of food on the menu beautifully cooked.
Had a family boxing day lunch lovely food great staff would highly recommend
Great local pub with good rolling selection of ales
Staff were superb Sorry one is leaving
Excelled vegan options!
Terrible dinner, gravy was like water. Vegetables were not cooked. Very good Yorkshire pudding, although easiest thing to cook. £58 for 2 people, would have been happy if it was worth eating. Friendly staff and fast service.
Very good atmosphere. Going back for tacos and prosecco
Very busy pub, dog friendly. Warm welcome from bar staff. Luckily, we had booked a table. The wings were delicious. Sadly, chicken burger, not so much. A little dry and the dill in the gherkins overpowered the taste of everything. I didnt mention it, as it was edible and we were on a tight timescale. Hubbys burgers was good so were the chips. Loos were clean.
Lovely food and good beer selection, staff also pleasant.
Nice pub but the price of a pint had me shook
Brilliant pub, staff were A1, incredibly attentative and nice!
Great coffee
Small busy pub. Great staff
Great breakfast!
Been in the fat pug today a family group of 7 and 2 dogs. Excellent staff very friendly and the food was great hopefully returning for the pug world record attempt in October
The Pug was as described
Own my experience, good food, and service, though noted service charge applies. Shame not clean, window edges just by the entrance table covered in dust, table wasnt clean covered from candle wax probably from night before. Cob webs top of windows.
Great 70th bday party for old Andy
Great atmosphere, lovely staff and fab food and drinks. A winner in Leamington.
Great meal thoroughly recommend
cute! busy, friendly, attractive decor
I love this place! The food is good!!
Awesome dog friendly pub, staff were great too
Good place for the younger generation. Very busy, packed & noisy on Friday & Saturday evening. Great pub if you love that sort of thing.
Dog friendly! The menu was so good that we deffo over ordered & everything was delicious. Good choice behind the bar & friendly staff
Good! Very good place with a Guinness.
Wheelchair accessibility: There are no steps leading into the building, entrance to the front garden is wheel chair friendly too, although not a huge size. Service
Nice pub, dog and baby friendly (although the changing area leaves a lot to be desired) food was decent and they rectified any issues we had without any questions or hesitation.
I popped in here for lunch while in Leamington on business, and was very impressed. A very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, pleasant staff, and the best pizza Ive eaten in years.
Nice local pub friendly staff decent prices The upstairs room is great and you can hire it for free. Service
Friendly staff, good range of beers and a great selection of dishes to share.
Cute pub garden
Good atmosphere great staff good ales
A dog friendly pub that has dog biscuits and cocktails!
Friendly, local pub with good food and nice vibe.
Great pub, nice beer garden
Friendly staff and super food. Great choice!
Good pub with pretty good pub food. Decent selection of beers and friendly staff.
One of the worst meals I ve ever had. I ordered the special - pork belly with a side of beans. The pork was not pork belly, the fat was chewy and it was served on a bowl of tinned baked beans. I was not asked how the meal was despite almost all of it remaining on the plate. Definitely not worth £12 for what is essentially a bowl of tinned baked beans with a piece of pork loin. It s a shame as I have previously had food at the pug which has been great.
Lovely, relaxing, welcoming family pub Parking: On street parking, we didnt pay Kid-friendliness: Good
A small but lovely nice place to go out. Great value for money and atmosphere.
A brilliant meal with great service. Well worth a visit.
We were on a canal holiday and googled pubs within walking distance so glad we did 20 mins and we were in a friendly local pub with great atmosphere and the food was delicious very attentive staff would highly recommend
Poor food & services
Went on a Sunday for a roast, and they had run out. We ordered what they had left and it took them almost an hour to deliver 2 salads and some fish and chips. When we complained we didnt get an apology. 85 quid wasted.
Great place - the servers were very friendly and the music being played (classic rock anthems) made want to come back another night while I am attending a local conference - job done.
Enjoyed a drink whilst on a pub crawl with a group.
Good food wine and service
Don t bother Arrived early, was told to take our seats and someone would be over in a couple of minutes to take our drinks order, sat and waited for 15 minutes being passed numerous times by the lady taking orders who didn t even bother to say hello as they were more interested in singing along to the music rather than engaging with customers. We walked out they didn t even notice we had gone. Sad really as they say the hospitality venues are on there knees clearly not bothered here at looking after customers..
Pug chain always has good food and great selection of drinks
Good ales, Great place to watch sports. Good menu for food.
OK, but got very very loud
Just amazing, great friendly staff, lovely atmosphere and fabulous food!
felt at ease there although I have Alzheimers
Very pleasant time. Burgers are yummy Wednesday deal 2 for £15.00. Good beer and wine.
Its usually better and Ive enjoyed food and drink in there before, but last time I went in the cola tasted like the syrup was off and there was a lot of vaping going on inside. Ill give it a miss for a while.
Great pub, very laid back, welcoming atmosphere! The burgers are amazing
Fantastic food, great staff warm and friendly atmosphere what more could you need?
Great food - breakfast, tapas, everything! Massive portions. Recommend booking a table as it gets very busy.
Lovely place, great food, great staff, its got a nice atmosphere to the place, would definitely recommend a visit
Wings were huge
Great atmosphere and cracking Sunday roast
Great little pub took a chance after looking for somewhere we could have a meal that was dog friendly and this place come up in the list very friendly place would definitely recommend to anyone in the area food was fantastic aswell
Good meals very dog friendly not expensive will visit again
Never been inside but, its posh local pub
Nice chilled out pub
Lovely little pub t
Very nice pies if you go on Thursday there is a combination of pies and beer for 10 pounds which is the proper way to eat pies in england
If I could give 3.5 I would. The staff were really pleasant and helpful and were certainly one of the positives from our visit. The wine we had was really nice, particularly for the price point. Unfortunately the roast dinner was really lacking in quality and brings the whole review down. It was a good portion size, but consisted of a lot of veg that I would describe as filler boiled suede, peas etc. If you had told me the 2 roast potatoes we received were boiled potatoes I might have believed you, they were a particular low of the meal. The beef was well done and quite tough. The positives were Yorkshires with every type of roast, the roast chicken was a good portion and the cauliflower cheese side was very nice. But unfortunately not enough to redeem what should have been the stars of the show.
A great find! Quirky, cool decor, and superb tasty fresh food
Brilliant pub and great service. Lunch was amazing
Great burgers, friendly staff. Recommended!
Friendly staff and a good pint
Always like dropping in here a great selection of real ales and the staff are so friendly.
We popped in yesterday. Had a couple of drinks, then decided to have a pizza. Realised it was 2 for 1 pizzas on Mondays. They were both fantastic - thoroughly enjoyed them. We will be back.
Some of the warmest staff Ive ever come across. A really well run bar and great atmosphere.
Wonderful random find - I just wanted somewhere nice in the Warwick/Leam area that wasnt too expensive for breakfast - met some friends at the Fat Pug and immediately knew wed found something good! Loved the way the place looked and they were playing some great tunes the whole time we were there :) also the food was superb, really nicely cooked and incredibly tasty - the lunch and dinner menus looked wonderful too. Wed also love to go back for some drinks, great place to spend a few hours (and a few ££)!
Lovely pub with great service.
Expensive beer at £4 20 pint of bitter
Good pub lively
Was given free drink, due to mix up with drinks order taking longer than usual. Great service!
Simple and efficient, the Pug pubs are always a certainty of quality. Nice beer garden.
Lovely friendly pub
Seriously decent selection on the breakfast menu. Have also been in the evening but usually cant remember too much about it.
Nice friendly pub menu to suit all
Need to keep an eye on the price of beer, as creeping too high to justify going out at £6+ a pint
The food is very good and the service is friendly.
Nice little pub. Very friendly staff and locals. We only stayed for two drinks as we were moving on somewhere else, but we enjoyed the time we spent in there
Decent range of craft beers, friendly and attentive staff, well presented traditional pub.
If you like cold food, poor and slow service ,ignorant staff who dont even look at you when seving the food just put it on the table to sort out yourself ,dirty cutlery and did not know what a steak knife is then this is the the for you if its not what you want then stay well away from the Fat Pug Leamington Spa
Lively, good atmosphere, enjoyed the food
Great food great price
Decent, friendly popular pub, with lots of a friendly dogs too. Love it. Good pub food and a private function room.
Great atmosphere and friendly staff.
Great food nice beer. Happy days.
Staff were really helpful and felt very relaxed. Had a lively pre Christmas meal with family including children and a dog. Food was delicious.
Welcoming, cozy pub. Eclectical decor. Great Guinness.
Very busy. Crowded good job we had booked s table. Found it very loud but it was a Friday night
Lovely atmosphere and food
Awesome pub. They had a big Christmas party on and although rushed off their feet, still had time to be friendly and helpful. Despite the party, still served us food which was excellent (as it always is). Really lovely staff and always so welcoming.
Good coffee, breakfast too. Staff are always great and the xmas decor looks lovely this year.
Delicious meal here this afternoon, I had the Nut roast...lovely and the best apple crumble I have tasted in a long time! Our friends all enjoyed their various different burgers and puddings too. Warm, welcoming atmosphere and our friends dog got a bowl of water too! Atmospheric when lights went down later & candles lit, very enjoyable afternoon.
Good food staf very friendly
Great pub, good well kept beer and fantastic pizzas with 241
Nice food, great staff and service. Mrs is obsessed with pugs so she absolutely loved the decor. Thanks
Nice cosy pub.friendly staff. Clean, good choice of drinks. Worth a visit.
