Binswood Ave, Leamington Spa CV32 5SE, United Kingdom
Whittle’s restaurant and bistro is set in Royal Leamington Spa, within the beautiful Grade II Listed Victorian building, Binswood Hall. It is a contemporary venue with English charm.
Very friendly staffs, cozy atmosphere. The afternoon tea was really well presented only the sandwiches could be served with more stuffing inside. The rest was amazing
Ideal meeting place for mature friends. Quiet club-style atmosphere. Afternoon tea available in sweet or savoury options. I don't recommend the savoury. Cold pork pie, sausage roll, and scotch egg were fairly tasteless. Sandwiches were excellent, and I enjoyed the quiche. My partner really enjoyed the sweet version. Menu available for hot meals.
Took my mom for afternoon tea and had the best experience! Not only does the venue itself look beautiful, the display of food looked so appealing and staff were super friendly and attentive! Definitely would recommend
We went for lunch for my birthday, very quiet but lovely place, well it was a Thursday afternoon in February. I had the beef dish 😍 it was soooo good! Staff very friendly and welcoming, as it is a big building and can look quite daunting but beautiful inside! 👍
Great place for lunch, the staff couldn't be more friendly and the food was a pleasure. Looking forward to going back highly recommend.
We visited today for afternoon tea, and it was honestly the best I've ever had! We had one traditional and one savoury to share, and everything was absolutely delicious, and such excellent quality! The stand-outs were the cheese scones and bacon jam (the bacon jam was a revelation!), the quiche, Eton mess and the scones with jam and cream - but every single thing was divine. There was a good selection of teas, too. We happened to have the restaurant to ourselves, but the atmosphere was still good, tranquil and peaceful but not so quiet as to feel uncomfortable. This was all topped off by first-class service - the gentleman who looked after us was LOVELY, so friendly and made sure we had everything we needed, but unobtrusively. We really couldn't have asked for better, it made for such a lovely afternoon and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
Really beautiful and exquisite interior design, and the dessert was delicious. Spent a lovely afternoon with my friend, there was unlimited drink including coffee and all kinds of tea. The service was really good, no one is rushing you. I would recommend others to eat in there for sure.
Afternoon Tea at Whittle’s It’s a full 5 ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for service, ambience, quality food It’s always tricky when you’re looking for something “special “ especially when catering for your Mum and Aunts birthdays 🍰 with the added difficulty of being out of town so you have no one to reference and only have the reviews. I’m also sceptical of reviews when they are all 5 stars especially when it comes to a dining experience, we all know how many good establishments use family and friends for those! So it’s always a bit of a gamble. When it comes to a quintessentially English Creme Tea, in my opinion it needs to have great food with just as great ambience and decor, the setting has to be just right. Whittles offers all that plus more, the staff went out of their way to make this day extra special, from making the booking to being greeted on arrival every staff member was professional and friendly. Our waitress was knowledgeable, helpful and friendly, attentive in the right quantity. All dietary requirements were met and the kitchen went out of their way to tweek the menu to suit. Our choice of a Savoury Creme Tea didn’t disappoint, the cheese scones with bacon jam were fantastic. There was more than enough to eat, The Lady Grey Cocktail was well presented and thoughtfully created which tasted great. All this for a bargain price of £21.95 , they also presented both Mum and Aunt with a Rose & Pistachio Birthday Cake which ensured they both felt extra special and enjoyed the experience even more. As if that wasn’t enough I also got a 25% extra off the bill (offered throughout August 2019).Thank you to all at Whittle’s you get a full 5 stars in my opinion and we will be back. Highly recommend .
Fabulous room. Brilliant service and really tasty food. The staff were professional and friendly.
Lovely place to have afternoon tea. Excellent.
Relaxed and delightful surroundings.the food was delicious!
Our server was fantastic and full of energy. This is our second time visiting and we enjoy it every time.
Superb service, lovely venue and excellent afternoon tea.
Extremely rude and unhelpful receptionist. Very average food.
I had a coffee and the other two people in my group had tea,
Used a voucher. Had a savoury and a sweet tea. Both very good, staff very attentive.
What a find! I was looking for a mid-way venue for my mothers 80th birthday celebration with family. Three families coming from three different directions and this came up in reviews as a top venue in the mid-way locality. We were not disappointed! What a lovely building! So grand! The food was lovely and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Great customer service, thank you. Notes: There is no parking on site. There is street parking close by, some of which is pay at metre. Food portions are modest (in keeping with the style of the building). Book ahead, there is limited seating. Thank you for a lovely afternoon, we very much enjoyed
Terrible tough sirloin steak
Savoury afternoon tea for two at 15:30. We had the restaurant to ourselves, music playing in background, restaurant looked lovely. We were greeted, seated and served by a young man, who initially was very attentive and polite and gave us the impression that we were in for a treat. We asked for one of the egg sandwich to be replaced by an additional cheese sandwich, which we were told was no trouble. We were informed at the start that endless hot drinks were included in the price and our choice of drinks could be charged during the sitting. Afternoon tea was brought to the table by a lady. Unfortunately, as requested the egg sandwich had not been replaced by an additional cheese sandwich and we were warned that we may want to wait for the scotch eggs to cool down as they were hot and runny. The sandwiches, quiche and savoury scones were tasty. After being served and during our 1.5 hour sitting we were not again approached by a member of staff. We had to call someone over to ask if we could have a second drink, the coffee latte was freshly made, but the filtered coffee was obviously not fresh. We had to leave the table and approach a member of waiting staff to ask for the bill and to pay. On leaving the restaurant, we seen no members of staff and left without a thank you or goodbye. A shame as £60 was spent for a birthday celebration and it was definitely not the service or experience we were expecting. However, on paying the bill, we were informed they were busy preparing for a Burns night celebration, so maybe we just choose the wrong day and time for a visit.
We had a lovely lunch in comfortable surroundings. Good service there were 10 of us.
An excellent venue
Excellent meal as usual. Little disappointed with the usual impeccable service. A new member of staff needs a lot of in house training to maintain the standards. Dan was excellent but the more experienced staff need to pass on their expertise. Parking: Leave enough time to find a spot
Absolutely stunning place. Very friendly staff.
We took our parents for a celebratory afternoon tea and it didnt disappoint. The food was fresh and delicious and there was a lovely variety of cakes. The scones were yummy too and there was a good selection of teas to pick from. Would definitely recommend.
Great atmosphere, great service - very friendly. We had afternoon tea - great selection. . The only drawback: the artificial flowers on the table dont match the ambience
Absolutely amazing,fantastic food,great staff
Vegetarian options: Very helpful, give you more options. Food
Visited for a PTA meeting, lovely place.
Had the most amazing afternoon today. First class service from Dan. The food was of a very high standard too . I would highly recommend. We will be back
It is a wonderful place to visit and have afternoon tea. The staff were very attentive and will definitely be returning
Absolutely excellent Afternoon Tea, definitely the best we have ever had. Very nice staff & great atmosphere. Would highly recommend .... Even got a surprise Birthday treat
A lovely comfortable place ,when is a warm sunny day needs air con , lovely afternoon tea
Sunday Roast was amazing! Thank you, and we are definitely coming back.
Absolutely delicious afternoon tea, love the interior
A great find, good food, lovely staff and a fantastic venue
Perfect experience of Afternoon Tea with my granddaughter. Every aspect was brilliant.
I wanted to treat my fiance to a special, traditional afternoon tea and Whittles did not disappoint. The service was 1st class and Dan that served us was so genuine and accomodating. The scones were amazing and and the place looks and feels so nice and relaxing. Would 100% recommend the afternoon tea here. Kid-friendliness: We also had our 7month old with us and they gave us a choice of 2 high chairs and made it so easy for us.
Fantastic afternoon tea in a gorgeous setting. The staff were amazing and friendly. It really felt like we were the only people there. We will definitely go back?
We met some friends for lunch today, fantastic service with great staff.
Lovely surroundings and wonderful afternoon tea full marks
Excellent, lovely food and amazing staff
We came here to have afternoon tea they were so accommodating of my mum allergies to soya and dairy !! Nothing was to much trouble and she had CAKES no jellies like other places. Now the staff omg the staff were so friendly and welcoming such a joy to be served by them Dan and Devon went the extra mile and we will definitely be coming again !! I couldnt Recommend this place enough !!
We went here to celebrate Valentine s Day this year. Very fresh, high quality and satisfying food. The best English we ve been out for. Super clean and flawless. We couldn t stop looking at the decor which was exceptional and very old English themed. The entire building was majestic. Downstairs there was a library themed room where you can play scrabble/chess and have a drink. Would definitely be back.
The ambience is lovely. Food is nice but a little expensive.
First visit to this beautiful venue for a Mothers Day luncheon. Absolutely fabulous food in a stunning surrounding with hard working and attentive staff. Strongly recommended.
Best afternoon tea we have ever had Wonderful service
Lovely ambiance, great food and excellent service- a hidden gem in Leamington which is well worth a visit!
Excellent service, todays menu more varied. A small warm complimentary roll appreciated.
A beautiful building to enjoy afternoon tea. All of the cakes were divine, and the scones fresh and warm. The mini trifle was disappointing. The sandwiches were lovely, especially the smoked salmon & cream cheese. The others lacked imagination Have a glass of Prosecco as its a generous serving
Wonderful venue for both my wife and I to entertain, our special niece ( Visiting from Romania) to Afternoon Tea. The atmospheric room, in which we had our feast was perfect and the tea, both the savoury one and the sweet one, were superb. The one thing that even surpassed this quality repast was our host/server, Dan. He is charming, knowledgeable and very efficient, providing the perfect balance of Quality and Customer Service to the Location, Venue and Food. This place is definitely on our Must Return To list.
A really lovely spot for afternoon tea. The cakes in particular were scrumptious.
We had an amazing afternoon tea yesterday for my Dads birthday, there were six of us and we had the lovely round table in the window. We were really well looked after and the food was delicious, thoroughly recommend.
Beautiful restaurant for a visit with friends and family. Advisable to Pre book a table to avoid disappointment.
This is a hidden gem our afternoon tea was delightful, served with a smile and the environment was lovely I will definitely be returning .
Had a delicious afternoon tea at Whittles today - a true gem in Leamington Spa. The sandwiches, scones and cakes were all amazing, for a very reasonable price too. We have to make a special mention for Dan who served us - he was so friendly, attentive and made us feel so welcome - nothing was too much trouble. Amazing service from start to end so thank you!
Really nice restaurant with traditional tea room vibes.
Had a lovely afternoon tea hear with my teenage daughter for her birthday.
Nice meal and great service
Absolutely beautiful continental breakfast! Thank you Dan, you re awesome, excellent customer service!
Good welcome continental breakfast was excellent dinner was very tasty
Stunning place. A real hidden gem. Had gorgeous afternoon tea which we couldnt finish and had to box it up to take home! They also do a savoury version. We didnt try it but it looked amazing on other tables.
Birthday celebration where the staff went out of their way. Amazing food too.
Cheerful staff in lovely setting, ideal for lunch
Excellent Traditional Tea meal. Excellent value in lovely setting.
Amazing food and great staff. What a great experience this was, and the place itself is very impressive.
Lovely food & service, thank you
The most wonderful Afternoon Tea here today. Beautiful atmosphere, excellent service. Shared with good friends for Christmas
6 of us had a mixture of their Festive and Savory Afternoon Teas and found all the food to be excellent with service and ambiance to match. Parking: This can vary depending on the time of day but we parked 2 cars for free right outside on a Sunday afternoon around 4pm. It would likely be harder to park during working hours in the week or shopping times on Saturday, however Leamington isnt short on parking options.
Excellent afternoon tea in lovely surroundings. Highly recommended.
We had lunch here. I thought it was very well priced for the quality of the good which was excellent. I had a warm pork hock salad for starter followed by haddock and chips and a lovely choux bun for desert. Very nice building and staff were very likeable. Bargain really.
If you are looking for a lovely and peaceful luxurious setting for a delicious afternoon tea then this is it. Just so delightful, were brilliant about dietary requirements for the sandwiches. A lovely balanced afternoon tea- unlimited tea and just felt so relaxed. Great service and very much a hidden gem. Will be returning to try out dinner too. Highly recommend
Lovely place ,I took my wife for an afternoon tea .Great service, they looked after us .Lovely surroundings and ambiance. Quality food .Easy to book .We had to ask for a box at the end as we couldnt eat anymore .
Great selection on lunch time menu. Friendly.polite and helpful staff. And beautiful surroundings.
Great food, not crowded parking outside can be an issue. Worth a visit.
Lovely afternoon tea. We had both the traditional afternoon tea and the savoury afternoon tea and both were delicious. The scotch egg was the best we ve ever tried and the scones were light and fluffy with a crisp exterior. The staff really made us feel very welcome. We had 2 young children in our party and the staff went out of there way to make them comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble. We could change the sandwich fillings (plain ham rather than with sun dried tomatoes, just salmon instead of a mixture) to suit our taste. The staff came over often to see if we needed more tea or coffee (free refills). The afternoon tea was served in a beautiful room (spotlessly clean) with a relaxed atmosphere. Can t fault anything about our afternoon tea. Thank you so much and once more a big thank you to the man serving us, he was really friendly and helpful. Will definitely return. 5/5
Friendly service. Beautiful room with very comfortable dining chairs. Food was delicious and plentiful. Would highly recommend for a special occasion.
Came here for my birthday w my family and had a lovely experience! Our main waiter Dan was incredibly lovely and very accomodating. I was initially a bit wary of eating here as Im vegan but the afternoon tea they provided me with was amazing and all the staff were very happy to make adjustments for my vegan diet. Thank you for a lovely time
Very nice restaurant. A hidden germ. Excellent service and high quality food.
Great place to have Afternoon Tea
Nice place Hidden little gem
Anita and James organised my much-postponed Big Birthday lunch. This was the third rearranged date! From our first meeting with Anita many months ago to the actual event, we were treated SO well with lots of communication during a very difficult time. We were able to pre-order for our party which worked very well too. On the day, James organised arrival drinks, and the food was exceptional- the venue is superb, but the service was absolutely outstanding. Our servers were all lovely, friendly professionals who went above and beyond. To be perfectly honest, Anita and her team do Whittles at Binswood more than credit! Our guests were very happy, and so were we!
Lovely afternoon tea, great value and really helpful staff.
Very good service, good quality
Lovely afternoon tea. We had the traditional one and everything was tasty. Enjoyed the tea and coffee options too. Friendly and helpful staff would certainly go again.
Came here for afternoon tea. Everything was lovely and reasonably priced. The setting was beautiful and the service was really good too. No complaints!
Very impressive building, like stepping back in time ,very elegant ,afternoon tea was very good ,and the service
Went for Sunday lunch with the family (12 adults + 3 young children) celebrating my 60th. Most enjoyable experience. Food good, efficient service. Would return again from Northampton.
Lovely for afternoon tea
A beautiful eating experience
Beautiful place
Very quaint place. Afternoon tea was delightful and filling. Service very good. Staff attentive.
Took my wife here to celebrate her Birthday .We were very pleased with the elegant building the interior was beautifully presented. Most of all the cream tea was lovely, service was excellent A big thank you to all.
Went to a Charity Lunch. Food good also staff. Lovely setting
Slightly disappointed we went for afternoon tea although the food was reasonably good the service was well below standard. We we ignored on arrivel eventually showed to our table by a waitresses who obviously didnt want to be there. The afternoon tea was brought out and explained to us but after that we were totally ignored. We felt very uncomfortable when we managed to get someones attention to ask for more tea and felt like we were being a inconvenience.
A stunning location for a lovely afternoon tea
Fabulous place
Delicious afternoon tea in a beautiful setting with 25 members of The Flower Club of Market Harborough yesterday. Excellent service. Thank you!
The decor was really lovely, the food was ok but not necessarily worth the money. Unfortunately we were the only people in the restaurant and the staff talked loudly around us setting up other tables and training up a new member of staff which was pretty unprofessional.
Excellent food Lovely waitress will certainly go again Thank you
Beautiful set up. Good food but portions are a little small so additional sides would definitely be needed for a substantial meal. Staff are polite and friendly but dining experience was ruined with loud noises of clattering while staff were setting up tables.
Fancy as...
Food was awful (burnt)had to send it back and the restaurant was empty so goodness knows what it would be like if the place was busy!!...overpriced too.
Quite nice
Spectacularly interesting venue, very accommodating staff and great cakes!
A fabulous place to wine, dine, or work. I ve been networking here since 2012 too. The team are very helpful, the food is fantastic and it s a real hidden gem in Leamington. Try the afternoon tea - it s a winner!
Lovely place afternoon tea
Stunning place to visit. You get well looked after in the restaurant. The staff are helpful and friendly and the food and drinks are a cut above the rest. Parking is very convenient as it is just outside the town centre. The building and indeed the street is beautiful. However, wait till you go inside. The decor will blow you away. There is nothing else like it that I have seen.
Loved Afternoon Tea here!!! Will definitely be back!!!
Great decor location food staff
Elegant surroundings but quality of the food doesnt match.
Thats a minus 1 - service horrendous food cold ever course- shame as beautiful building. Full review on Trip Advisor
very beautiful place, the food is very tasty and very apetitic serve. the staff was very friendly and polite, showed us the gym and the swimming pool. Be sure to come back again!!!
Excellent, will go again and again.
Wonderful Mothers day meal
Nice venue
Lovely settings. Excellent afternoon tea. Staff very polite & helpful
Went as a treat from the family, but would pay to go myself.
Beautiful venue. We werent allowed to park within the grounds and were unsure about street parking. Were later told that parking on the street on the hotel side was free otherwise it was 2 hours free parking. The staff were incredibly friendly. We attended for afternoon tea and was given options for vegan and vegetarian.
Lovely food great friendly staff great looking building Inside and out very clean and tidy
Very impressive place with beautiful artwork. The staff were extremely polite. The afternoon tea was out of this world. Fantastic value for money. I will be visiting again.
Nice afternoon tea, pleasant surprise
Lovely afternoon tea in a beautiful building, would go back.
Im a gym member, not eaten here, but it will happen soon.
Beautifully decorated. Part retirement home ut dont let this put you off. Didnt see anyone apart from people in tea room.
NEVER BEEN
A beautiful location to celebrate with a lovely meal and good service.
Beautiful building and decor. Staff very friendly and helpful. Afternoon tea however was not good, very few sandwiches and cakes for a party of seven. Expensive for what we had. Few little things missing, such as glasses on table for water, extra plates needed for birthday cake, we were given serviettes. Little things give a better overall experience.
Very nice place to visit lovely restaurant lovely service, but for the price of the afternoon tea you want the food to be perfect , ours wasnt.
Very nice . Lovely staff. Very good environent. Great food
Afternoon tea with 8 friends. Beautiful room. Staff brilliant. Sandwiches were great but not many. Scones were lovely but rest of cakes all A bit too sweet and nothing outstanding...but lovely place and gorgeous setting
High tea was delicious and great. Gluten-free and veggie was no problem at all. Great and friendly staff!! Very welcoming and he double checked everything we asked. Bit expensive and high tea was not quite enough food
Lovely afternoon Tea at Binswood Hall. Selection of sandwiches and cakes was brilliant and scone was the best scone I have ever had. To improve it would be nice to have a drinks price list, and a menu for the selection of cakes and sandwiches that came with the afternoon tea.
Very enjoyable.
Lovely food and a beautiful venue. Recommended.
Traditional afternoon tea.
Great place good food
Had the steak and chips. Was really well presented and very tasty. Beautiful surroundings.
Its a great looking venue. Food is good, but not amazing.
Nice escape from the busy world. Pleasant staff and reasonably good food.
Went here for my Mums 70th Birthday. The building, location and decor inside was amazing. We had a Sunday roast and both courses were delicious and well presented. The service was unrushed and very friendly. The tables were well spaced out and we will defiantly be coming back. Thank you
Excellent experience! We booked valentines day dinner with Binswood. Very welcoming staff and we were served by a wonderful lady called Anja Kozerski. She made this evening memorable for us. Cocktail, starters, mains and dessert were really high quality and their service was very quick. Anja even told us the history of Binswood hall. Highly recommended and we would love to visit again. With loads of love. Krish & Uma
Nicely served afternoon Gin Tea in lovely surroundings.
Great mix of food, service and ambiance.
To be fair its lucky to get 3 stars. We had a starter each, I had the brie wedges which were ok, not great, just ok and my partner had the soup of the day, which arrived stone cold. It was eventually returned and was also just ok. For mains we both had the lamb burger. The whole plate had a thrown together feel about it, very average chips, a very small (thankfully ) side of coleslaw which tasted very unusual and 3 ok onion rings. As for the burger itself it actually contained a decent sized patty but with it was gerhkins, lettuce , a tomato slice and worse was the dressing which I think was a burger relish which really, really didnt go with lamb at all. The only reason were giving it 3 stars is the afternoon teas that we saw going out as we were eating looked absolutely delicious!
Excellent place to eat drink and live all the staff are fabulous and caring and nothing is too much trouble for them even when its not there department they work as a team love the swimming pool too great library xxx
Slow service, too many potatoes, ridiculously overpriced
Had afternoon tea recently. It was a lovely relaxing place to have tea but unfortunately the service was so slow! We had our tea served but then had to wait for over 35 minutes before the cakes/scones arrived. I was really disappointed as I was expecting much better service. And the cakes were not that tasty either as they were very dry.
Great food and wonderful staff. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
Excellent Food
Awkward old peoples home based resturaunt
Lovely place for Afternoon Tea...
Went for afternoon tea Good Friday and the service was impeccable. Most enjoyable afternoon tea I have had. The sandwich selection was lovely and they had even taken into account the fact that my partner does eat fruit or mayonnaise and had ensured he still had plenty of choice. The staff were friendly and helpful. Would recommend to friends and family and will definitely be back again.
