Again we met Nikki, her service is always exceptional! I had the perch dinner, very unique seasoned batter that complimented the flavor or the perch with hand cut fries and homemade tartar sauce. Highly Recommended!

Stopped for fish and chips and perch tacos. Everything was fresh and delicious - the tacos were so flavourful! It was also a great spot to watch the monarch butterflies as they migrate south.

Great food after a hike at Point Pelee. Fish and chips, perch tacos, chicken kabob wrap, chicken tenders and hamburger were all awesome. We ate outside because we have a dog, so the atmosphere was a little warm, even in the shade.

Awesome chicken wrap!

We had a day trip planned from SE Michigan to to Melegs Cider Mill in Kingsville, then to Point Pelee afterwards. I looked at the options in the area before leaving, and this looked like the place, and we were happy we chose it. Fish was cooked just right, with a nice homemade sauce; the chips were crispy and lightly salted, and served with malt vinegar. The owner, John, is a great guy who takes pride in his service and food--he took the time to come out on the patio and chat with us, sharing some recommendations for things to do locally. Stop in if youre in the area, its worth the trip. Parking: Adequately sized lot in front of the restaurant.

We got the fish and chips and it was easily the best I have EVER had! The sauce alone was unreal. Cannot rave about this food enough. Delicious

First of all let me say, if you are in the point Peele area go check out this little business...you wont regret it! The perch tacos were EVERYTHING and the fresh cut fries were yummy!!! Amazing service and the owner is such a sweetie! We brought our 15 month old daughter and he was Soo friendly and interacted with her. As a mom and someone in the service industry myself, I love to see this!! The owner really cares about his customers and it shows. The only thing we all regretted after we left was that we didnt get his name, but I promise you if you want amazing food and great customer service where you are treated like family go check out Ship Ahoy!!

Just stopped in today as had heard this was the place for Lake Erie Perch & chips. Definitely the place as the food, service was excellent. Located a few metres from the Park entrance. Enjoy!

John was an exceptional host on this very quiet dinner time. We sat on the rear patio overlooking the trees and birds. Meal was served quickly and it was delicious.

Stopped at a morning at the park. The food was delicious and the service super friendly. Using the ATM they refunded the $3 fee on the meal which was great. Highly recommend for food. The perch taco and perch dog were well done with a creamy sause. Thank you!

We could hear the fries being cut from potatoes!! Ships Ahoy is exactly what you should expect and want from a country kitchen. Remember you are not out for dinner in the distillery district in Toronto. Clean, honest, tasty food. We were met with a hearty welcome ordered fast, told about their fries and more. I had the fish and chips which was crispy and the fries were plentiful. I would say maybe just a toss in some salt for the fries and a fonsihing salt for the fish. But when asked I was given the malt vinegar and salt etc, seeing some of the negative reviews I would say those people just need to learn how to use their big kid voices. My family had what they love chicken fingers and hot dogs. But everyone was fed and happy, with a consistent offer of more fries from the delightful owner. After we ate some ice cream and were on our way after a chat about the history of the restaurant.

I only ordered the milkshake but it was super disappointing because it was very watery and thin, not the rich and creamy texture I would expect. The milkshake also cost $11 for a few scoops of Chapman s ice cream blended with some milk. This cost seems unjustified for the quality of milkshake. Otherwise the restaurant and atmosphere was really cute and charming with great nautical theming.

The location is about the best thing this place has going for it. Any establishment that does not take debit or credit and asks for cash/atm needs to make that abundantly clear. I dont remember seeing any signage. The fries were good, but if Im paying 22$ for fish and chips I would think it would be a large plate size, rather than the size of a big Mac box opened up. There was no lemon wedge or malt vinegar, ketchup also wasnt on the counter which is wild. The fish I had was very slimy and one piece was the size of a crayon, again for 22$ I would expect to be full after my meal. Im not sure how this place has a 4+ rating on here, are the standards this low in the Leamington area? Are people just getting ice cream? (Chapmans btw, probably the worst of the brands outside of Nestle) I cannot recommend this place to any campers or people visiting in the area, save your hard earned money and look elsewhere, otherwise you may look disappointed. We were saying at point Pelee national park and saw this as soon as we left to grab a bite, Looks good from the outside and was nice inside. We ordered our food (2 fish and chips, an adult and kids chicken tenders and a kids hot dog and poutine. Cash only so had to pay the atm fee to pay for the dinner. We couldn t Tell the difference between the adult and kids chicken tenders. We asked the guy who brought out the food and it took him a few looks to figure it out. Both had maybe 4-5 small breaded pieces of chicken on it with a handful of fries. Portions were very small and fries were under cooked. The taste of the poutine was good as well as the fish. Next time we will probably drive past this place to venture to somewhere else to grab a bite.

So much more than just a fish and chip shop. Beautiful Lebanese options and fresh fish tacos. We sat out on the shaded back decking next to the giant mulberry tree and had a beautiful lunch after a good kyak in the marsh. Would highly reccomend this as your after marsh pitstop for the family.

Cash only, then wanted to change 1:1 US to CAD; or you can use their ATM, likely for a fee. As I dont carry a debit card, that wasnt an option. Anyone could have calculated a reasonable number based on the exchange rate within 30 seconds. It is 1 to 1.36 according to readily available data today. 1:1 is nonsense. Id be willing to bet the excess ~15 USD I paid for our meals that, if the exchange rate was lopsided in the opposite direction, somehow they would have found a way to not undercharge. Utterly ridiculous. Apparently sitting at the edge of the National Park gouging the tourists. Pretty much all I can say within bounds of polite discourse.

I found Ships Ahoy during a Google Search. We brought our family from BC yesterday for a wonderful lunch. The food was just perfectly prepared and portioned. The homemade tartar sauce is the best I have ever had. Thank you so much!!!

Went here with a couple of friends after leaving the park. What a great experience! The gentleman with the ponytail running the show is hilariously entertaining and he cooks up some delicious food! Can t wait to visit again!

I had the fresh hummus as well as the falafel pita wrap, which came with fries. I m not a fries girl, but these fries were delicious. Everything was very tasty.

* updated * The tables and chairs on the patio have been upgraded. All good now. Plenty of flavours of ice cream available. * Original * Friends and family joined us for dinner tonight. The restaurant had adequate parking and was conveniently located just outside the entrance to the park. I was surprised in a good way by the menu options. I choose a perch dog and fries with ice cream for dessert. Food was good, fries were excellent. The owner even came out to the patio and had a conversation with us; he apparently had an apiary in the lower part of the restaurant property. The tables on the patio needed some repair and maintenance, but otherwise a four out of five star experience.

We went to buy ice cream as a group and girl over there charged extra for one person. Please careful when paying and ask for receipt from them. Prices are over and they gave just one scoop (small cone) for $5.50 Plus $2 for waffle cone wow!! An awful way to take advantage from people when you have monopoly.

Such a great spot!! The food is delicious! Service is wonderful! A great family restaurant all around. We did take out, but will be going back to enjoy a meal on the gorgeous treetop patio! I m a big fan of the perch tacos and poutine! The sauce and veg on them is top tier. So flavourful and satisfying. The tortillas were fresh and soft. Perch was cooked perfectly and well seasoned! And you can t go wrong with poutine. Everything was really, really good. Definitely recommend trying out this gem of a lake side restaurant!

We stopped here before going to the national park. Super convenient for a quick snack or meal. They have a nice selection of ice cream and also I was pleasantly surprised with the vegetarian options. We had our dog and we were able to sit outside with her. Food was very fresh and delicious! I had the spinach pie (so good with a little spice) and hubby had fish and chips.

My boyfriend and I stopped here as a mid day stop between birding at Point Pelee. The food was AMAZING. The tacos were so delicious, with many yummy toppings and the French fries were the best. Everyone who worked there was so lovely and they had a fun book on each table about different types of waterfowls. Overall an amazing experience

Stopped here for lunch. The falafel wrap is one of the best falafels I ve ever had and the ice cream was also delicious. All the serving sizes were generous. The owner is very friendly. He was even able to make the vegan falafel gluten free for one of our group. Definitely worth a stop!

Dairy free & gluten free options Excellent service, delicious food, and nice atmosphere eating on the deck outside with the birds chirping in the trees. The meal was 5 stars! The owner is very friendly and kind. He was very accommodating for needing something that was gluten free and dairy free. I had the falafel wrap with lettuce instead of the pita wrap that came with amazing fries and had the dairy free sorbet for dessert. Some of the best Greek food I ve ever had!

This is a family operation with the friendliest, welcoming owners who make the food from scratch and serve with a smile. The carefully made local fish is a hit! Perch tacos are served here with tasty, very fresh ingredients and delicious fries. Food is not over-seasoned, so the flavors come out beautifully. The fried foods are delicate, not greasy. It was hard to choose what to order because it was all homemade! Homemade falafels and hummus look fantastic! Vegetarian options: Homemade Hummus and Homemade Falafels! Also, there are grilled cheese sandwiches, onion rings, and salad available. They will work with you. Kid-friendliness: This is a family run business. They have a childrens menu (kids menu).

My wife and I had a very good perch and fries dinner at Ship Ahoy. The service was great. It doesnt have the double decker bus Birdies had, but who does. It has dine in and dine out plus take out.

This place feels like home! The food this sweet and funny family makes is seriously incredible!!! I had the birria tacos which you can get on some fridays which were fantastic!!!! And my husband had the perch with lots of fries!! All in all great place cant wait to go back! :) Vegetarian options: You can get pitas made without meat and have options like hummus for a quick and tasty snack! This is a great destination for an after-dinner walk for ice cream! Be aware that they do not take credit cards though.

Went in with a group of 12. We were quickly served. The people here are really friendly and genuine. The ice cream is quite good and they have a wide selection of flavours. We also got onion rings, which were good, and the fries - they were excellent very very good. Not too thick, but not too thin, and they were still crispy and in my opinion, perfectly done. There is a nice homely interior, and there is a nice balcony seating area in the back. Overall, I do approve of this location.

After visiting Point Pelee, we stopped in and had a late lunch. 5 adults and 2 children. The service was very friendly and the food was delicious. The food was fresh and homemade. We would totally recommend this place!

Went here earlier today after our trip to Point Pelee National Park.. Its location is perfect as its right outside the park.. Lovely atmosphere and their decorations were pretty cool.. Our kids loved it.. They have a nice indoor and outdoor seating.. Service was top notch! Very friendly and polite.. Food was great.. We ordered poutine, fish and chips and perch tacos.. The poutine was great but could use a bit more gravy. The perch could be better but everything else in the tacos were really fresh and yummy! The fish and chips was amazing! Their tartar sauce was delicious! We topped it off with their ice cream and they were also delicious!

This place is wonderful. They go above and beyond to please the customer. The owner even cut up veggies for my hommous so that I could bypass the pita bread, which I am avoiding at this time. So ACCOMMODATING! The french fries were super fresh and delicious!. I loved my experience and definitely will be back. Its so convenient too, being just outside the gate of Point Pelee National Park. They also have a huge wrap around deck for dining in the fresh lake breezes.

The food here was absolutely delicious!! One of the best fish and chips we had. We ordered two orders of the Perch Fish & Chips. I was first caught aback with the price because the place looked a little run down, and we were paying about $30 per order. HOWEVER, once we had out first bites, we knew why. The fish tasted fresh, the batter was not overpowering at all, and was surprisingly full of flavour and crunch, and was complimentary to the taste of the fish. The fries are also made with real potatoes, and the sauce was one of the best I ve had. The seasoning was perfect - not overly salty or bland. And despite of the portion looking so small, we were actually so full; I couldn t even finish my fries! A classic case of Don t judge a book by its cover . Support local and treat yourself too! This place truly is a hidden gem.

Only place in the Leamington area that had Smelts on the menu. And that is one of the two reasons I visited Leamington. They were $20.00 CAD and tasted worth twice that much. Couldnt have enjoyed them more than I did. Thank you Ship Ahoy!

Perch & Chips with tarter sauce - outstanding!! the dusting of the homemade seasoning is really good. Wish I had more time to try the tacos! Fish and Chips along with the cheese burger were good too. If we had planned differently we could have done take out for a lakeside meal but the back patio had nice big tables in the shade.

Went here for lunch during our cottage trip. Fish & Sauce was amazing even down to simple things like the fries. The staff were super nice. Great place. Would stop again.

The owner refused to give us any exchange for our American money. Everywhere else we shopped we were given some exchange. The ice cream was good and the location was great to take a break after seeing Point Peele. Disappointed with the attitude of the owner/ server. We will skil this spot next time.

Excellent fish & chips. The fries were some of the best I ve ever had. The fish was wonderful. The batter was light and crispy. The owner ( sorry I can t remember his name) provided a very pleasant experience. Important to note - CASH ONLY Food

We ate at a restaurant in Michigan City today. The food was decent but the fries were no where near to the amazing fries we had with our fish & chips at Ship Ahoy just outside Point Pelee National Park. If you are visiting Point Pelee, don t miss eating at Ship Ahoy.

This is probably the best fish and chips Ive had. Fish was lightly battered and piping hot. Soooo goood! The owner is super friendly and went out of his way to make sure we were well looked after. If youre in the area this is a must try. One big surprise is that he has smelts which you dont see very often anymore. DELICIOUS!!!

I went to Ships Ahoy after a day of hiking at Pelee Point National Park, and it truly hit the spot! The food was delicious. I ordered the fish and chips, and the fish tasted so fresh. The tartar sauce is 10/10. I d recommend stopping at this cute restaurant to anyone planning on spending time at Pelee Point.

The owner seemed like a really nice guy! Food was good, its right outside Point Pelee national park (literally you can see the park gates from the restaurant). Great stop!

Had the Perch dinner, served with fresh-cut fries ($28) along with a Strawberry shake ($8). Fish was excellent. However, very small portion of fries served and the homemade tartar sauce that came with fish - virtual thimblefull given; was not overly flavourful and lacked tartness. Re/ the Shake - was good, but again, very small serving (maybe 300-350 mL) for $8. Disappointing. Requested glass/cup of water with meal. They do not serve water in a glass/cup, you must purchase bottled water. Also ordered the hummus. Again, lacked flavour. Communal condiment counter - in other words, if you wanted additional salt/pepper/ketchup/etc you d have to take your grub back to said counter and add the condiments there ( a little strange imo.) As for service, did not have to wait long for the food. As for the server , meh, you be the judge. Would not necessarily discourage people from checking out/eating at this restaurant as they have a decent sized menu but given the cost of the food for the small portions received (only exception was the amount of fish) along with the service we will not be eating there again. And, unfortunately, can sympathize with a few of the negative reviews.

Unable to afford the $12 poutine or the $10 grilled cheese... We drove farther down to town.

They have ice cream and food to choose from. I tried the chicken kabob wrap with fries it was pretty good and spinach pie...the spinach pie could use a little more flavour but otherwise not bad. The backside outdoor patio; chairs could use a few replacements.

Great place to eat, worth the drive to the end of Point Pelee Drive Outstanding food, reasonable price and John who is the owner/chef is very out going and great to talk too. The perch tacos are amazing and the home made burger is the way it should be made, no grease and tasty. Johns french fries are second to none, not soggy or greasey, great flavor, they are the best!! ENJOY

Wonderful fish and chips with the absolute BEST homemade tartar sauce Ive ever had!

Myself, my daughter and her friend went to have dinner. Right away we were welcomed. John was very friendly. He was talking to us like were we friends already. I had the Smelt dinner, the two girls wouldn t stop taking my food, lol. They had there own food which they enjoy very much too. There was ice cream too but we were too full. Many flavours to choose from. I will most definitely go back.

Avoid. Portions tiny for price. Cash grab to those visiting the park. Nothing was tasty.

I was taking my nephews and neice to point peelee we were very hungry and saw Ship Ahoy (Aka the worst restraunt ever) we waited 15 minutes for him to ask what we want we recieved it 45 minutes later IT WAS DISGUSTING we got equivilent to a small Mc Donalds french fries in a big basket THE RESTRAUNT LOOKED DISGUSTING and the waiter was PHONY THEY GAVE US ATTITUDE GET THEM. FIRED BIGGEST RIPOFF EVER Never go there WE SPENT 12 DOLLARS on the worlds smallest poutine. Dont recommend it EVER Made me so Angry Most gross food ever Almost DIED eating it

This place didnt have alot to offer and the owner (who was serving us) was distracted argueing on the phone about fraudulent charges made on his account. Yes thats how loud he was talking that I knew everything and he stayed on the phone bickering back and forth straight through us leaving. ALSO VERY PRICEY FOR VERY BASIC FOOD

Amazing food! We had fish and chips and the perch tacos. Both were incredible and very fairly priced considering the cost of seafood these days. Highly Recommended !!!

We got the local caught perch in the fish and chips, and tacos; both delicious! The owner was super friendly and checked in to make sure everything was tasting good.
