Chance stopping here what a fantastic choice we made. Food was delicious. Service fantastic. But it was very cold in the restaurant and we ate dinner with our coats on. Obviously an issue with their system because it was so nice and warm...in the washrooms. Nonetheless we will be stopping again for dinner.
Just came in the other day. The portions were huge. The waitress was very nice and efficient considering there were filling up quickly. I'll definitely be back again
Nice local restaurant great fish tacos for lunch. I finished my tray !!!!! The staff was super friendly on the restaurant and bathrooms were super super clean place to stop for lunch and Leamington.
First time in Leamington and we had dinner here. We came on a Monday and there wasn’t many people for dinner. Parking is available, but confusing as it’s next to the Tim Hortons. Waitress was really nice and pleasant to chat with and she also helped us find places in the area to visit. A lot of seafood options and we chose different items from the menu. Fish and chips were nice as there wasn’t too much batter. Fish tacos were also good with lots of toppings. The pan seared fish however had too much oil and tasted ok. Overall we rested the place 3.5 as we felt the food didn’t taste as good as it looked. The popcorn shrimps were overly crispy and lost all shrimps flavour and texture.
One of the best fish and chips I had! Friendly staffs and very clean restaurant. If you are ever in this area, this restaurant is worth your try😎 I got Joey's Combo - no regret!
Fish tacos and fish sandwich were delicious, the flavour were great. Fish melted in our mouths, not too much breading either. Fries are cooked to perfection. Service was great. Can’t wait to return
Regular fare fish and chips spot. We tried the Joey special (Pollock, popcorn shrimp and fries), and the recommended chicken burger. The burger is absolutely huge, with two chicken thigh pieces! Tasted alright, but I've had better. Same with the fish and chips. Nothing to write home about unfortunately. Service was great and the food came out quickly.
We went here for lunch, specifically to have some fish and chips. The restaurant was not so busy when we went. There was only one waitress working but, she was very attentive, taking care of about 6 tables. The restaurant is very clean, and has an extensive fish menu. We ordered the haddock fish and chips, fish tacos and a dish of pan fried haddock for a person that was allergic to shrimps. All the was very good. We also had a Kingsville beer, which is a local beer.
Food had no flavor, the calamari was so chewy and small portioned for the price.. was not a happy customer at all.. it use too be so good.. Ill never return
Its a great restaurant which we visit when working in Leamington. We always get the fish n chips, always good time. Not sure which nite it is but all you can eat is an amazing deal. They have multiple chefs and only once in last 5 years have we had greasy fish. Usually amazing, done right food with quick friendly service. Weve even had the manager serve us when busy. Again, always a great time. Lots of different beers on tap. We will return over n over.
The food was wonderful and the staff were extra friendly and helpful. Ill definitely be back. Thanks for a great meal.
The cod was delicious and flakey. The halloumi fries were delicious. Wonderful service.
You dont get wat your supposed to get with your fish on the prison plate
Fried fish was FANTASTIC! And all you can eat on tuesdays! Staff was wonderful and definitely worth it for the out of town trip I took.
First time it was ok.
As out-of-towners, we almost missed this place. Glad we didnt! The food here was delicious. Great service too . Will be back.
The fish was very greasy with no flavor. I can see why the rest of the locations closed in Ontario.
We ordered take out was so so so good The tacos and bisque 10/10 Calamari rings 0, perhaps not good on takeout very hard couldn t bite through Would order again Food : 5/5
Always good food, fantastic service... everyone always friendly
Pleasant atmosphere and staff
Great service and great food Wheelchair accessibility: Yes Food : 5/5 |
Excellent fish and great customer service!
Well if your hungry this is the place to go, Have been coming here for quite some time and even with there costs going up you get a great feed of fish and chips. Friendly staff and clean area. They now also have a Mexican cuisine if you want it. Wheelchair accessibility: Easy entry electric doors
Prices are up, which I know, I know everyone has to deal with inflation but......now you dont even include a small coleslaw with the meals? Not a roll, not a single thing. Not even a side of canned carrots in the meal. Literally potatoe-mashed or fries and zero veg or coleslaw. Everything is extra. Ive noticed several othes with the same compliant. Rather than have so many displeased customers ,wouldnt it be a smart move to at the very least throw in a small scoop of coleslaw which cost next to nothing and a single roll? Fish was great but, the cheapness hasnt gone unnoticed. Step up your game joeys!! We love you but, this is ridiculous.
Great food and friendly service. They remember repeat customers and sometimes even their orders such as mine all the time.
Love Joeys! Great for a fish fry! Food
At first I was a little put off by the menu changes from when I used to go there. But the service is still excellent and the new menu is tasty.
Havent been to Joeys for at least a year or more. Went yesterday with my family of 4. Walked out with a bill over $100! What happened?? Used to be about $9 for a 2 piece meal and is now almost $18. And they removed the coleslaw which used to be included in the meal. Pay twice as much and get less..... how nice, and get served on a slop tray from prison, to boot! At this rate, Joeys will price themselves out of business. Penalizing all the customers that love the coleslaw because a few dont like it, is nuts! Dont fool yourself, that move was all about corporate greed, nothing else. Got two 3 piece meals, one 2 piece meal, one shrimp meal and one pop, rest of us drank water. Add on a 15% tip and were over $100. Crazy what has happened here, and all over too. Despite going here for decades in the past, will not be coming back simply because we can no longer afford the price gouging. Giving less and charging more is just another nail in the coffin for any business. Too bad your competition in Windsor has had no problem charging 20% less while still giving you a roll AND coleslaw. You can blame the economy but if others can still be reasonable, so can you. Not fair to your old loyal customers that helped build that business, to charge fine dining prices, taking food away that was normally included with the high prices, all while serving food on military chow trays. Id be surprised if you last another year or two at this rate. Your corporate has crazy ideas that may end up translating into your local businesses demise. Sad to watch this happen.
I tried calling the restaurant a few times to order ahead and their phones were not working so I decided to drive there and wait. They took my order almost right away. I was waiting for quite a long time and they weren t that busy. One of the employees came to tell me it was almost ready and again I waited and waited. Finally someone came and acknowledged me again asking if I had been taken care of. I told them I had been waiting quite a long time for my order. They went to check and it was erased from the screen so my order wasn t even started. I was waiting for more than a bout for one order of fish and chips. They never even offered me free dessert or a discount for the wait.
Always sceptical when places claim to have the best fish and chips in Canada. However, Joeys does have very good fish and chips. Flash fried, so the fish stays very moist while the batter is light and crispy. The chips are a little heavy on the seasoning, but just like the fish very crispy outside.
Got served the wrong fish ordered a piece of halibut, first bite I knew it wasnt halibut cut it open definitely wasnt white fish, but they did make it right and it was excellent
Was not at all busy at 1230pm on a Thursday. Quick service, quick food. Overall the fish and chips we good.
Food was great, we had their in house perch special, waitress friendly and attentive, well be back
Great local seafood
Place is legit, absolutely delicious Giant portions . A must visit next time to go to leamington.
Went here today. It s a solidly average fish & chip joint. Chowder was decent flavour wise, potatoes were a bit chewy and the soup was warm but not hot. My wife had calamari for a main and found it to be overcooked. We had the fried halloumi for an appetizer and it was delicious. I had Cod and chips and it was good but average. Vegetarian options: Salads and fried tofu (to-fish) were on the menu that I noticed. Parking: No shortage of parking.
Food served on a cookie tray with waxed paper. The wax paper goes soggy and then cuts up with every piece of fish. The cook botched our order and served only one piece of fish on one order. By the time the other two pieces showed up it was a half hour later. I was done my meal at that time. THREE DOLLARS for coleslaw .........wow is all I can say Parking: good parking
Love their offerings. Great service!
Food was delicious! Just a bit pricey? It will be a treat to go again! Kid-friendliness: Kids always welcome Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access
Really wanted fish that night service was slow and fish was horrible almost tasted rotten will never go back
Update 2023: i just tried their king cuts combo, it was well prepared & crisp to perfection. Came with mom back in 2019 & we both had a satisfying lunch. Both their basa & haddock was crisp without fishy odor. (Oh my mom corrected me, it wasnt basa, it was mix plate of halibut & haddock) Ive forgotten (my bad), they were Cooked well & tasty. Compared to other places with similar type of menu (fish N chips), by far this place is my recommendation to others
Amazing food
Enjoyed all.
Great service staff. My fish and chips (Lake perch) were cooked to perfection. Chrispy batter with tender fish on the inside. Fries were good as well.
Is a great friendly place food delicious
Had an early supper. It was sooo good. Not many places you eat and dont need the sauces for the fish and shrimp. We will be heading back to Leamington in the near future for sure.
Tried Joey s for the first time tonight. We re new to Leamington and we ve heard great things about it. The halibut was really good. The batter was nice and light. I chose to upgrade my fries and get the volcano ones. They charge almost $6 for this upgrade. When they were delivered, there was next to no sauce on them and the amount of jalape was probably 25 cents worth. If they are going to charge that much to upgrade, make it worth it. I might as well have got regular fries. The calamari was pretty disappointing. It was quite rubbery and the tzatziki tastes like nothing but dill. I d eat the fish again but I d be reluctant to order the custom fries again and definitely won t have the calamari again.
Typical hole in the wall place at a strip mall. Nothing very special to write about one way or another
The restaurant could use some more modern decore. The service was not good. We were never told about the specials, which is locally sourced fish like perch and pickerel. The fish we did have was cooked well and had great flavors.
Enjoyed the salmon dinner very much. Prices are reasonable. Service was friendly and good but I wasn t asked during my meal nor at the end, how everything was. This would give you real-time feedback. My second time here and will be back. But hope the country and western radio station has been switched to say an easy rock soundtrack with no commercials or news reports.
Very cozy, the waitress was very friendly and very reasonably
We where at your restaraunt yesterday my fish was good but presentation of the food was not good fish and chips on a tray no coleslaw. Tray was way to big for the amount of food we got. My son in law got the Cajun pan seared two piece dinner and it looked like nothing on tray. I was embarrassed for your place. I have been eating at your place since it opened don t know if I will be back. Service was good. I was a cook in restaraunts and I would of never sent plates out that looked like that. The pictures you show on your menu is not what you get.
Excellent food.
Last week the fish was great this Tuesday it was soaked in grease.
This was our first time and it surely didnt disappoint. The battered fish was so good and the coleslaw was delicious. We are moving so unfortunately we wont be going back but I can honestly say best food I eat in Ontario
Love it ! Food the best !
Visited Leamington for a weekend and ate at Joeys twice because its that good. The fish and chips are so fresh and delicious and the service is incredible. If youre in town and looking for fish and chips, eat here.
I dont know how everyone is saying food is great..it is the opposite. Floors are dirty, tables are all sticky and food is not great at all..
Friendly staff, delicious fish, beautiful location. Absolutely recommend Food : 5/5
Very comfortable atmosphere Great food and service Will surely go back and mention it to all Food : 5/5
My favorite part of this location was the fact that I could order local in season fish
Very very slow service
Excellent food and service
Excellent Food and Service. I was there with my wifes in-law family for the first time. Very friendly and attentive server (sorry forgot her name, blonde shoulder long hair). Food was excellent we had all some Fish and Chips dishes everybody was very satisfied. Five Stars absolutely justified and deserved!
Every couple months we stop in for dinner at Joeys. This time we were not impressed mind you our dinner was good, service was great. We learned this time,no unlimited fries,if you want coleslaw you have to pay for it. The menu is a one sided piece of paper on a metal clipboard, not inviting at all. We placed our order and received our food in a cookie tray, yes you read that right a wax paper lined cookie sheet, ume that didnt look appealing at all! When you cut up your food you are cutting the wax paper also which has no flavor.... You need to go back to dishes plates not wax paper lined cookie trays. The staff is great the food was great, paying for coleslaw should be illegal as the prices went up . If your looking to take someone out for a cozy bite to eat he prepared that your food is served on wax paper lined aluminum cookie trays. I did question the cookie trays and was informed you could ask for a plate! I think a customer should be informed of the change and given a option, this was our anniversary dinner my husband was furious our anniversary dinner and our dinner was served in wax paper lined aluminum cookie trays, that he was eating wax paper, was shocked to pay for coleslaw. No unlimited fries. He does not want to go back..... Just remember reading this its not the owner of Joeys but rather the franchise that makes the changes, the owner is amazing her service was great. Would love to keep supporting her restaurant, but its not attractive to have your dinner served in aluminum cookie trays lined with wax paper that falls apart. Its like what you would serve husky dogs mush on in Alaska!
Food was excellant. Cooked to order and very fresh
Food was good....prices were very reasonable
Stopped in for some fish tacos and fries. The dinner was fantastic! We will certainly be back.
Delicious and food was great!
Joeys 2 piece fish dinner is delicious!
For it being our first time it was a very great experience, the food was amazing and the service was fantastic.
We came from Chatham to see this place and my old friend Bernie who sold it tears ago . The food was great . The new owner is a great person to deal with . One great place to eat
Shrimp feast was great with salmon fillet and mashed potatoes coleslaw. Everything was phenomenal Dessert - mud pie Amazing food and excellent customer service Nice and clean restaurant ambient environment
Always a great meal
We ate everything including lemon pieces leaving no time to take a proper photo. Best Fish and Chips in town. Local pickel and hand cut fries. Welcoming Service. Clean and tidy. Will revisit.
Delicious!
Perfect food and perfect service. We tried pollock and pickerel and both of them are so fresh. Definitely recommend this place for some local fresh seafood.
Great place food and service
Mehhh. Pretty average. Not impressed with the paper packages of salt and pepper. Fries were not that great. Excellent coleslaw. Calamari was not that great. Coconut shrimp was quite good.
Very friendly service. Food was awesome. Best fish and chips Ive ever had.
Good meal for the family Take out Hey customers... dont forget to tip The waitresses are there ti make sure you get your food Appreciate them!
We have had Joeys fish and chips four or five times over the past few years. On one occassion, we called for takeaway just before closing. At first they said, we just turned off the fryers... but then quickly said when can you be here! We were so happy that they would stay open long enough for us to get our meal since we were packing a moving truck all day long. When we got our two orders of finsh and chips we found that they upgraded us to Halibut for free! Such nice people... but dont expect that to happen to you - we were the lucky ones on a busy day when they ran out of haddock. The coating on the fish is crispy and not too greasy. The fish is amazing. the chips are also crispy (we usually ask to have them cooked a bit longer). The staff are so very nice. Thanks for a great fish and chips meal! We will defineitely stop by when we are back in town.
Decent fish and chips restaurant in the town
Best fish Ive ever had!
We use to go to Joeys once a month...but my last visit was today. There is never enough staff...cooks never seem to be organized and meals always take a long time. Fish was soaked in oil to the point there was oil on the my plate.Just totally screwed!
The food is good but twice now they ripped us off for half our dinner. If I order 24 shrimp, I expect 24 not 12! 2 pieces of fish I got 1. They even got a tip, so my tip is check your order they have issues getting it right. Better yet Red Lobster is my new seafood place! Im tired of feeling ripped off, Happy Mothers day.
Supply prices affecting the menu pricing. Lots of fries though.
Fish and chips, fish was pretty good, batter was not thick, not super crispy. Coleslaw was super mayonnaisey, too much for me. Fries were crispy.
This was my 1st visit with my wife I was not happy at 1st. I ordered the sourdough sandwich which was supposed to have shrimp and Lobster in it. The sandwich was $16, there was probably a teaspoon of Lobster and shrimp in it, I complained and the waitress brought more of shrimp/ Lobster over in a bowl, in the end I was happy with the sandwich.......
Placed a rather large order through the app, found out after placing order that they were closing in 15 minutes. Arrived at the restraunt to pick up the order to be informed they were just starting on it and that they had a rush right at close. No big deal. Almost an hour later, the lady running the front came and apologized for the wait and said they were refunding my tip and comping us two free meals. When I tried to insist that they accept the top (it wasnt the ladies fault the meal was delayed) she informed me that she was told shes not to accept a tip. Almost an hour to get food that was originally supposed to be ready in 20 minutes was inconvenient but not the end of the world but please dont punish the wrong people. The food was good but side portions (salads and appetizers) were small.
I read online recommendations that the fried fish is delicious, so I went there specifically, and it was indeed good! There is also a special menu for children, a set meal is 7.99, which is a great deal! The service is also very enthusiastic and worth a visit!
Joeys is a hidden gem in Leamington. The fish is so fresh, with a fabulous extremely light batter, the servings are generous and the sides are all tasty. A great meal!
We waited 25 minutes to not even get drinks or even have someone come to the table but at least the servers talked to each other. Im sure their food was good but the service was horrible.
This was my first visit in probably 10 years and it did not disappoint. In fact I went back the following weekend again for the local perch and pickerel platter, amazing. Great serving sizes, great appetizers and delicious food. Something for everyone.
Great service. Super expensive. Not great hours.
Nice cozy place friendly staff, food was ok, kinda pricey but it is normal for fish..
great fish and wild rice !!!!!!reasonable price and friendly staff
THE best fish restaurant in Leamington! Fresh perch and pickerel like youve never tasted before. And yummy fries too! Sizeable servings and great prices - much better in both respects than that restaurant just outside the park (you know the one). The location isnt the prettiest in town, but trust me, you wont be sorry! :)
Fresh. Delicious.
Enjoyed our perch dinner very much. Good sized servings.
its like this restaurant doesn t actually operate. we were given false hours on google and false hours on the phone, including the sign they posted on the door.
very dissapointed. poor communication between restaurant and customers. never coming here again
Pretty good fish and chips
My Sister and I like to eat in at Joeys. The staff is friendly and work hard to keep you happy. The food is very good and a reasonable price. Over all very nice experience
Great meal, plus it was open on Monday. Fast and friendly service.
Family friendly with a good variety of fish. I had the Pollock fish and chips and thought the fish was a bit tough. Might avoid that next time. The clam chowder was excellent. Service was great
Service was very slow shrimp was burnt clam chips very greasy halibut was cooked perfect
I came from Toronto to visit Point Pelee. I choose this restaurant for lunch based on reviews. Both places I went to were good choices indeed. For lunch, we choose the local fish (instead of frozen filets); the perch and pickerel. Both were very well done. The surprising things were the side dishes. We had the coleslaw and lobster mac and cheese. Lots of lobster bits in there. Coleslaw was also one the best. My son could not eat seafood. He ordered a chicken finger with fries. Surprise! He emptied his dishes and told me that was one the the best he had had for a long time. Prices were right, services were good. Thanks Joeys for a memorable lunch!
Fantastic place to eat
Great deal and great Perch! Server was super nice Food
The fish and chips were very tasty and a good sized portion. Fresh cut fries! Best coleslaw in a long time.
Food was great!! The wait from the time we were seated and when our food came out was not very long at all. Our server was absolutely awesome!! Vegetarian options: A variety of sides. This is a seafood restaurant so different kinds of fish and shrimp cooked several ways. Excellent!! Parking: In front of the building
Really kind server
Good food.
Amazing food, amazing service!
Local touch to a great chain.
Great place for fish and chips
The best fish and chips Ive ever had! It wasnt greasy and the breading was light and crispy. And kudos also for the enviro friendly take out containers! Well done Joeys
Fish was good, just was a little overcooked. Great service.
Good service, mediocre food. Fish has long portions but lacked flavour.
Great food was had for my wife and I. She is not a seafood lover, but she enjoys yours. Curbside pickup was great, quick too. Well worth it
Great food and great prices! Definitely recommend
For the price I paid it was disgusting to tiny pieces of halibut fries and a little bit cold slaw I have got more out of a banquet Frozen meal
Great service and food was great! Fresh and delicious. I ordered online and the food was ready in 20 mins. Will definitely go back.
Fresh fish and amazing food here!
Food was good and plentiful although there was less shrimp in the 1/2 pound than expected. Calamari was dried out so I gave it to my dog who quite liked it. I gave it a 4 because these things and because there was an hour wait and they didnt give us napkins or utensils.
The fish was great
Reasonably priced. Excellent quality.
Went there for lunch today. Main meal was served before appetizer. Appetizers was burnt. Fish batter was very salty and so was gravy. Did not get alot of fries.
Very good
Such wonderful customer service. Had a problem with my salmon and not only did they make me a new one it was on the house
Great little place for seafood.
Dont let the decor choices fool you - this place knows fish really well. The owner is passionate about the industry, proud of his staff, and really knows his fish. The restaurant is very clean (high marks for a fish house) and delivers on a great promise of serving delicious fried fish. Try the gravy and the Cajun sauce for a bit of a twist on the ol lemon and malt pairing.
Great perch dinner
My favorite place for fish and chips
Best fish and chips Ive had, the halibut was top quality as were the garlic fries
Best fish and chips platter I could ever taste. Good environment and service.
Best fish place around!
There used to be a Joeys in Springfield Missouri that was amazing. Great food and atmosphere and it was always packed. One day it was just closed. No idea what happened
I love Joeys seafood and their prices seem about average.
It was great
Had lunch a few times here, staff is always friendly, food is good and portions are generous.
Good service and special!
Great food, great service!
