We had our company Christmas party supper here and it was delicious! They served a tasty turkey dinner. Very friendly staff too. Highly recommend this place!
This had been our Friday night, almost weekly, go to!! But not anymore!! Ordered nachos for 2 and honestly not sure how they would even think that a small dollup of sour cream and salsa(in one tiny dish) would be enough for the portion of chips!! We asked for a 2nd and the guy manager(with zero personality) came out and said it will cost us $1.25. It's not the principle of the money...it's the fact that you don't get enough to start with! He then sent out a combative female (possibly a manager) who proceeded to talk down to us and decided to not to hear the customer but only to have an attitude and hear what she wanted to hear. Very poor customer service....for 2 years, missing the odd Friday, we have frequented the establishment and the waitresses are great. We have brought 8 other people on different occasions when in town , to share the atmosphere at The Onion. My idea of customer service is when you have consistent patrons to your establishment, it's OK to comp a 2nd dollup of dip!! It's not a regular item we order but my advice would be to upsize your rations!! Will be hard for us to return after lack of personality of management...if that's who they even are!! The rating is based on all of our previous interactions with the lovely girls that work there..the ratings for management would be a solid zero!! Would love for the owner to reach out so we can share the experience with him!
I'm giving an five-star review to reflect on my graditude at the Onion: After my absence, I would never forget the time I had an marvelous experience here. The good food, prices and atmosphere always makes me feel more satisfied and enjoyable. It's a shame that I'm not in Lethbridge anymore. I'm wondering what it's like now. I'm sure it wasn't that easy when I moved back to Calgary. I felt a bit regret leaving the Onion. Even though I have an special interest in mechanics. On the other hand, the staff and management are very compassionate and polite. I had no idea how impressed I was when I first came here. I never met such a great fellowship in my life. I highly recommend this place to anyone that like good deals in Lethbridge. I've also never been into an atmosphere with excellent choices to choose from. I miss this place very much and all the fun times I had for the past year. Hopefully to return soon🤞.
5 stars across the board! We came down to Lethbridge to pick up a Marketplace find, the person we were buying an item from suggest the Onion when we asked for a good place for lunch. We were not disappointed! The service, fantastic, the food phenomenal, the lounge was clean and welcoming. We will definitely drive down from High River for lunch again sometime! So good! Thank you so much to our server Ana, with the beautiful smile.
Best deep fried mushrooms I've had in a long time. I Had them a few months ago and couldn't stop thinking about them. Then I had the opportunity to visit again on Friday ordered a batch and just as amazing as the 1st time!! Wonderfu and great service as well. 10/10 recommend this gem of a restaurant and place to hangout on the Northside!
What a delightful find! On vacation here from southwestern Ontario, and I have only one thing to say to the fine folks here in Lethbridge: what the heck, guys? A place with food THAT good, at THAT price, with great service, and it's not even packed on a Saturday night? Something wrong with y'all. I had the beef dip, it was incredible. I'm told the beef burrito was delightful, and that the Philly was just as good as mine. I don't believe them about the Philly, it looked even better. Somehow. If there was a place selling food like this back home, I'd be hard pressed to even get a table. Anyways, will be back the next time I'm in town. I'd be mad not to.
This has been one of my fav places since moving here 13 years ago! Food is affordable and always yummy! My kid loves the booths up top. The staff are typically good, and the overall appearance is good. In good condition, like no gross ratty carpets, tables are not chipped or stained booths don't have holes etc. Probably go a couple times a month.
Food was too good . Specially the Manager ( Aman) she treated us so well and drinks were also perfect. Highly recommended to everyone .
I really enjoyed the place, The only thing I didnt agree with was the rude customers making smart remarks at me.
Food was great. Beer specials even better. Waitress..... Not so much. She hit the wrong button and charged us almost double whatever the special was but didnt apologize. We even tipped her $10 before discovering the anomaly on the receipt (bill was over $65) and she didnt even say thank you. Well try again, but hopefully a different server will make things right. Edit:Dec 2,2024....thanks for the reply.... Lately, Ive seen a massive decline in the quality of service during the start of Happy Hour, before the Lounge gets busy.... Not sure why, but I tip decently even if there are some hiccups during my stay. Service is cavalier at best, with the exception of ONE server I have only had the privelage of being a client for once in the past year.

I did give 1 star as my companions meal beef dip was good & his draught Corona was Corona. My first time after living here 13+ years and very disappointed. I ordered cauliflower bites, over cooked tiny little pieces not even the whole bud, could hardly jab with fork. Ordered a small salad, it was sooo small for the price l paid. I ate both as l was hungry. Had 2 Gin & Tonic it was G&T. Server was prompt but not friendly, appeared to me she didnt want to be there. I dont know why l left 15% Tip. Never again will l go to this place. So many other great places l have ate at in this city and never once felt compelled to leave a bad review, reason l have is because for the price l would not recommend The Onion to anyone l know. Another friend had told me they hadnt been in awhile even though they live close by but the food is average they said. Surprise mine wasnt average it was worse.
Edit: I wish I could increase my rating but every visit has been a 5 star experience. Ive now visited 3 times in the past few months and have had a great time. Ive tried the burger, fish n chips, and most recently the beef dip. Wow, an amazing sandwich with great au jus. After I asked for more ketchup Jonas, the server, offered me extra au jus as well which i gladly accepted because I love drowning my beef dips until the bubbles stop. My wife really loves the sweet potato fries and deep fried califlower bites. Original: A friend and I chose The Onion because it was nearby. After our visit I wish I had tried it sooner! Food was amazingly good, I cant wait to return and try more menu items. Cozy atmosphere with a unique tiered seating arrangement. We had a new server who was great, I cant remember his name (Jonas) but it was his first day and he did a great job. Ill be back for sure to enjoy more of their delicious food.

Ordered some nachos with beef,where in the heck was the beef? Was charged extra for the beef,but really nothing on my nachos! And I was charged almost $25 for this pathetic meal. And then to boot the cheapskates put my salsa and sour cream together in a little plastic container. I can guarantee you that I will never step foot in this restaurant ever again.

This review is for Saturday night when I was there with my family. The next day we returned because we had liked the place. If we were to rate it by this male managers attitude it would have scored very poorly on service. He seemed to forget whom his wages are dependent on. Staff was great but very apolligetic for his very rude attitude.
Went for the boneless ribs, they were a little dry. Quantity was good though and the crunch was nice. The best is the atmosphere. Everything is wood and brass and a real (oak?) Made for an old school experience.

Parking: The food was amazing my husband I haven t been here in years! But moving back over a year ago we decide on March17th for supper! OMG we were NOT disappointed ! I had steak sandwich and hubby had roast beef dinner! The steak was done perfect and my hubby thought the food was great!! I ordered Caesar s and I was sooo happy with them!thank you hubby had beer and so happy with the taste !! Thank you to the staff we had good service!

Came in for the Edmonton Oilers second round playoff game against Las Vegas. Asked for volume on the TV. Was told no. They didnt know how to turn the volume on. Spending the next 3 hrs at the Bar across the street. They have sound for the playoff games. Plus the Onion was boring and empty, happy to spend my money anywhere else. GO EDMONTON! GO LEAFS.

Holly served us and kept us entertained the whole night. After what looked like a really busy night she still made sure to be attentive with our service. Everyone else u hire in the future should learn from her how to do it and she needs a gigantic raise cuz she offers the same level of service every time we come here.
This place is half lounge half restaurant. Flamingo is the other half. Its fairly dark and fairly dated but kept clean in good repair. There for supper but was empty at 6pm. Food was cooked alright and service was good. I do belive that whats hurting this place is definitely the prices are high for where, and what the place is. No great value here. Really nothing for kids to draw in families. Bring back some of the pre covid of the classics like pastas, lasagna drop the price a couple bucks will make all the difference. Wheelchair accessibility: Its possible to access but will be a bit of a challenge, mostly with doors
Lousy music that was not turned down or changed after request to do so. They were out of Richards red. Meal was fine, service good. Too bad about the poor background music.

Feels like a truck stop bar. The staff is friendly but flighty and unfocused. The table layout towards the back of the building in the lounge is strange, and awkward to maneuver to outside.

Went in earlier this week. Sat down and waited 5-10mins for a server until my bf finally went up to the counter and asked for menus. She brought them and water and said she d come back to take our orders and didn t. Waited ten minutes then finally left. The bar was absolutely dead and saw the servers all happily chatting behind the counter. Never going back.
Food was decent, did feel like I got short changed a little on fries for a $20 burger. Deep fried mushrooms were ok, still think it was rather small for the price. Also seemed like they only knew how to make a Rare steak when people in party order medium and medium well. Hoping it was an off night, we will see next time the party returns. If its better and this was a one off I will update my review. Waiting staff was on their game and we didnt have to wait much for refills, drinks or anything for that matter. Also very nice and professional (This is why they got high marks)
Food has always been good. They have actual cooks that know their stuff. Not a cookie cutter restaurant but a real food kinda place. Get the basket of onion rings! The best and the way they should be made. My familys go to for burgers.

We were waiting at the door for a waitress to come out from the kitchen area for over 5 minutes. This was about 8 pm. Another patron finally got the staffs attention and a girl came out and told us to pick any table to sit at. We were talking and as a result took a bit to look over the menu, during which time she came back with our coffees and told us that they were only serving appetizers. Seeing that both my daughter and I had not eaten anything all day we wanted a full meal. We drank our coffees and then decided that we would look somewhere else. My daughter and I both felt that the time had been a very huge bad idea. I will no longer suggest this place as a an option to my out of town guests and I doubt my daughter will ever recommend it to any of her fellow co workers when they have layovers in that end of town even though it is close to the industrial area where most of their deliveries are located. She is a long haul trucker and has eaten at restraunts all over North America in the last 30 years. I was very embarrassed by this whole event and the treatment we saw. Thank goodness the next one we tried more than made up for the faults of the first. We were treated like valued customers and that establishment in future will see us again.

I dont know why I dont go to the Onion more often. The food is good, my drink is always full and the staff are always friendly. I went there for lunch recently, had a good meal and while we were there my buddy did pretty good on the VLTs. Good times!

There was a waitress there that was very attentive, helped me work my VLT machine and showed me all the tricks in the book. Walked out of that place a winner that day. Might not of won any money but that long legged girl sure made me feel like I just won a million dollars. Also the food was phenomenal. Absolutely Outstanding. The same waitress was always there ready to take my order with her pretty smile, long black hair and really cool boots on. She practically floated over the floor(which was sparkly clean)to bring me my food and beer. I ll always go back to the Onion. To me, it ll now be the Funion. Thanks you The Funion you guys are just Peachy.

The food is always exceptional, but the service is the worst. Have had several times when we walked in and no one came to greet us, or serve us. And other times when our orders are taken but we dont see the waitress again until our food is served and then have to hunt someone down to pay the bill. If it wasnt for the great food, we wouldnt return.
