I h a d o r d e r e d C h i c k e n C h o w M e i n e x p e c t i n g a d i s h t h a t s m o s t l y n o o d l e s , b u t g o t a b o w l o f c a b b a g e w i t h a b i t o f n o o d l e s a n d c h i c k e n . I had ordered Shredded Ginger Beef in Hot Sauce expecting a dish thats both Ginger and Hot, but instead I got a dish that has the shape of ginger beef, but the colour and flavour of sweet and sour pork; that vibrant red sweet sauce devoid of any spice. I had called to ask if the Ginger Beef was a mistake, but they said if you want it spicy you need to specify. With the menu saying in hot sauce under the heading spicy and delicious, the last thing I would expect is this. Beef and broccoli was good and as expected, and the service in person was friendly. Prices were reasonable. If I try again Ill specify HOT for the Ginger beef, hopefully then itll be both spicy and Ginger. Edit - Im not sure how Ive lived here this long and not known that Lethbridge Chow Mein was different, but I can confirm now that this isnt the only restaurant with cabbage style Chow Mein. My bad . Cantonese style is what I was after.

Went there as a family of 6 last night to dine in. Service was awesome. Food was fast and delicious. They have the best Chinese food in Lethbridge easily. Incredible. Go in and try it out. You won t be disappointed

Another success, having family over, 10 +, have vegan family members. Michael is always so accommodating and patient to get it perfect. Gets right back to me, even though they arent open the day I text. Get a big order, always ready when the pick up time is arranged and always delicious. Nailed it again thank you very much. Vegetarian options: Unlesss it is specifically a meat dish they can make it vegan because its made fresh!

We ordered 4 dishes came to 100$ worst Chinese food I have ever had! Hot and sour soup was very strange and very sweet, Mongolian beef wasnt spicy it was sweet as well. They used to be good maybe its a new cook?

Well we thought wed give it a try again after it had closed down for awhile and then reopened again. We ordered 4 dishes for a total delivery price of 90 bucks with tip. The food was stone cold but tasted not bad for what seemed like eating left overs, noodles dry, lemon chicken dry.... Needed more sauce but you dont get much for 90 bucks I guess. Called the restaurant and was told that they had a rush with only one driver so that was how it was.... She would pass it on to the manager that I wasnt thrilled with cold food, and that was that, no call back and I guess that is how they roll... So I guess I got what I deserved ordering from a place called SHANGHAI.... Buyer beware!

Family of 6 came in tonight for dinner. Food was fresh and delicious, and the service was great. Everything was hot, crispy, and tasty. I thought there were no more good Chinese food places in Lethbridge, but I have found my new go-to spot. Would definitely recommend it, and will absolutely go again.

I havent eaten here in a long time and I decided to take my family who have never been here before. It was absolutely fantastic, the big windows that face Galt gardens offer a nice view while eating, the food was delicious, and the staff my God what a great group of people, the manager made everyone especially my kids feel special, more restaurants should treat their customers like they do. We cant wait to go back. Thank you

A wonderful Chinese spot with Awesome Wor Wanton soup and Pinapple Chicken. When we went, there was a big party in the back so the restrooms werent in the best shape, but the food was delicious with a great view of the park. Parking: lots of parking out front. Kid-friendliness: The owner made the sign spin for my 8 year old son who loves neon signs.

Great service and amazing food. If your looking for gluten free options they went out of their way to make us an amazing meal. Dietary restrictions: The manager is great to talk to about gluten free options.

Our food was fresh and amazing, and the server went above and beyond to spoil our kids. What a great experience! Would highly recommend! Kid-friendliness: Our older kids tricked my young niece into drinking a soy sauce package (they told her it was Coke), so our server spoiled her with a free pop and a piece of chocolate cake with a sparkler to make her feel better. He even gave the kids little prizes from a treasure box! Very kid-friendly!

Good sized portions at fair prices WITHOUT compromising on QUALITY ingredients and FLAVOR!! FANTASTIC place to share a meal with family, friends or co workers with likely some left over for a meal the next day. Staff is friendly and Mike the general manager always makes us feel right at home. If you were like me and had only admired their beautiful authentic sign from a far and not checked it out for yourself yet, then I say pop in end enjoy a delicious Chinese dinner!

I ve never had Chinese food where I didn t want to take home the left-overs. This was beyond gross. Our server, however, was fantastic. It was heartwarming to see him take a cup of water across the street to someone who appeared to be experiencing an issue to do with substance abuse. I would have given him full stars but I didn t want to bump up the restaurants rating, because the food was absolutely horrible.

The owner or whoever the male is that is often working there ALWAYS LOOKS annoyed or bothered when Natives are in there. I ve picked up an order and waited and seen the same man be a totally different person to non natives giving them free ice cream. I tried to give them the benefit of doubt but 3 times in over a year with the same bothered look. No more dining again. Plus the food is going downhill as well. Better nicer Chinese cuisine restaurants in town.

My daughter and I came here for dinner this evening and I am sure glad we did. The service was great! The waiter was welcoming and very friendly. Top notch in my books. The food, OMG, was a real treat for my tastebuds. Every bite I took made me feel like I was in China. Shanghai Chop Suey is the shiznit! You want good chinese food? This is the place to go. Cheers!

was taking pictures of the restaurant sign and lights in the surrounding area (since it s so beautiful during the night) when the manager saw me outside, invited me to try out their restaurant so I thought why not! I m new to Lethbridge and wanted to try out some new places to eat. Turns out the food was great, excellent service, cozy atmosphere and the general manager was super warm & welcoming! The Hot & Sour Soup was so hearty The Crispy Lemon Chicken was definitely the best my mom & I have ever had. Perfectly juicy & crispy. The Shredded Ginger Beef was tender & they clearly care about their breading & veggies. Definitely not the old Shanghai. Food came in small portions, big prices. Very bland food. Very little noodles and meat in the Beef Chow Mein. Garlic Ribs were next to being burnt. Will not be ordering from there again any time soon. Shame ate there once or twice a week for over 35 years before they shut down a few years back.

Booked my parents favourite local restaurant for their 50th wedding anniversary. Francis, Mike and staff went above and beyond to help make this event very special. I dont know what took me so long to finally eat here...but, man, am I ever glad I did! The renovations look great, the staff is incredibly friendly and efficient, and the food is PHENOMENAL! The wontons, never had better. Garlic dry ribs, salt and pepper shrimp, ginger beef, special chow mein, pineapple chicken, and chicken fried rice was the rest of our lineup, and every dish was delicious. Fresh ingredients and made to order really make their menu stand out. We will be back again and again and again...thanks to Mike and everyone else for a beautiful culinary experience!

I cant believe Ive never tried this place before. It is so good! The worwon soup has a meaty beef broth. So good. The wontons are a little small, but I like that I can fit one ball in my mouth at a time. Very good will order again.

I recommend this place. The food was spot on for flavors. And right on time. I spoke with one of the owners there. And had a good conversation while trying to place my order. All in all a pleasant experience. Thank you for being a awesome local restaurant.

Great to have the original site back up and running! They did an awesome job on the renovations and the Food was as delicious as ever. Took our Granddaughter there and in watching her I remember myself as a young boy looking out those same windows. A Lethbridge Icon!

One of the best places to eat in Lethbridge. The staff and management are very courteous ( especially towards First Nations) and try to accommodate us in every way they can. They messed up an order for me one time by accident only giving me half my order but immediately made up for it everytime I stop by to have supper with my family. Not enough reason to stop eating at this amazing establishment. Id be missing out.

I deliver food for resteraunts around town and that being said I ve had a lot of Chinese food from around here but I gotta say this Shanghai is hands down the best Chinese food I ve tried yet and their service is phenomenal don t stop whatever you re doing guys keep up the good work this is my now hands down go to Chinese food place

Weve been to China and tried many different kinds of Chinese food but this place ranks right up there with the best. they serve what they call in China Beijing portions which are larger portions that can be shared around. our kids loved it and our one and a half-year-old even gave it two thumbs up which really says something. our waiter was very friendly and helpful and really was attentive to all of our needs especially with our children. It was the little things like giving the sugar to the parents and helping us make sure there was no msg added in the preparation of our order. Thanks Mike!

A little mix up with our order but our waiter (and turns out, the new manager) made sure we got our food. It was quite busy that evening. Great taste, really fresh. Interior was really modern and a nice atmosphere. Love the view of the park! It was our first time at Shanghai and definitely won t be our last.

The food was not good. Ginger beef didnt even taste like ginger. First time trying chow funn and the last time, the noodles were horrible. Dry garlic ribs were over done with no garlic. Deep fried shrimp were mostly batter. Fried rice was very greasy. Waisted $80.00. Never again

They renovated this place but as a person that l eat Chinese food for 40 years, l ordered SPECIAL CHOP SUEY, and they brought me vegetables with shrimp and pieces of pork , l told the waitress: this is not chop suey, without the sprout beans and other. She reply me sorry this is the way that we prepare this plate. So, imagine if you ask poutine fries and instate of potatoes they put sweet potatoes. Terrible.. this is too bad.. not recommended

Very nice place to eat, good is fantastic.

Not the same as it used to be. Sweet and sour ribs had no meat on them, and the sauce is horrible. The chowmein had about a cup of water in the bottom of the dish and the noodles weren t cooked. Don t bother waisting your money. Got to Arby s instead.

Good prices and lots of tasty options. The salt and pepper squid, as well as Shanghai Special Chow Fun are really good. If its available, the windows at the front are a great view into the park.

Love the upstairs atmosphere

We order delivery. First bite has a long hair in it. Shanghai manager doesnt apologize and says they will refund the money only if we return the food to them. They refused to send the driver to pick it up even more rude when I get there to return it. He made me stand there and wait while he looked through the bag of food. And then told me he was going to offer me a credit and refund but now hes only refunding what I paid. Most ignorant person Ive dealt with.

Ordered the wor wonton mein soup, fantastic as usual. We also ordered the calamari and battered mushrooms. Both were hand cut and battered to perfection. They are fresh made to order every time. Shanghai chop house is our only Chinese food restaurant in lethbridge.

Ive eaten at hundreds of Chinese restaurants all over Canada and I have to say that this place served the worst Chinese food Ive ever eaten. To make things worse, my 3 friends and I came here after a long scramble at Waterton national park and were beyond starving. And yet, we werent able to eat more than a few mouthfuls. The food at this place makes the Chinese self serve buffet at Safeway look like a 3 star Michelin restaurant. Honestly!

I love this place as do thousands of others. I have many friends that will travel from out of town to get food from Shanghai. The food is very good and the service has always been great. I would not always believe everything you see on social media without witnessing this in person or knowing the whole story. The food is very good, fast for delivery as well.

My new favorite! At times, I find some other chinese food restaurants fried dishes to be quite greasy but not here. Their fried items were crisp, fresh and satisfying. In particular, I would recommend the salt and pepper squid. It was amazing! Service was good as well, highly recommend!

I ate here last night and I found a roach leg in my chow mein! It was absolutely disgusting! I wasnt sure at first, so I separated the leg from the food, dried it off and looked closer. Yep! A cockroach leg in my food. The owner accused my of lying and threatened to call the police if I didnt pay.

You have great food however tonight we were in your establishment just before closing at 9:40 p.m. and ordered a dinner for 3 with changes eg. dry ribs instead of sweet and sour and ordered 4 egg rolls this was to go because you had changed your hours. Service was very prompt however when we arrived at home our order was incomplete no egg roles and our order was over $35.00, $51.40 to be exact. Aside from no egg rolls there was no 10% discount since we picked up our order. This is second time this has happened the last time we picked up our order half was missing and there was no 10% discount, then your delivery person had to bring it over and by that time it was cold. You have great food but for this mistake to happen a second time? We will call you tomorrow you, since you had already closed by the time we noticed our order was incomplete. You have the best Chinese food in town just clear up this mistake.

Horrible.....food was cold and very tasteless and the service was piss poor, I would recommend digging through a dumpster before eating at this dump!

After 2 hours of waiting, food was not delivered. When I phoned to cancel the order, a rude female stated that my phone number showed up incorrectly on their caller id. This was after I verified it for when I placed the order. As I cancelled it, she deep sighed and did not care at all. I will never order their over priced food again.

Great place to dine in for good chinese

Oh my! We usually order from them when we want Chinese food. However, this afternoon when we ordered, they got our entire order wrong, and then wanted us to pay in order to get it fixed, even though it was their fault. The woman on the phone blamed us for the order being wrong, arguing with us. But on the paper the order was correct. Never ordering from them again, and I suggest nobody else does either. Horrible customer service for mediocre food.
