Beautiful place with amazing food! It gets quite busy a lot which means the food takes a while as well, but its worth it. Takoyaki, Chicken Mayo Bowl, Deep-fried Gyoza, and Creamy Lava Roll are the ones we often order.

The food is good but the waitress are So much uneducated ,annoying and bad customer service. Specially a short Waiter with a short black hair... shes so mean....

Went there tonight had high hopes. The food was good. The chairs were very uncomfortable especially when you are waiting for 45 minutes maybe more to get your food. I totally understand that they were very busy but maybe have more staff or something? Considered leaving because we waited so long.

I made reservations for 3 and was promptly seated once I arrived. The waiter forgot us for 15 minutes before taking our orders. Once the orders were taken it took another 15 mins for tea which I had to remind the waiter about. The food though was delicious but the dishes came out haphazardly and late. The waiter did not even check on us. It appears the restaurant focuses on takeout and neglects the sit down patrons.

Service is terrible. I review one month ago but they deleted it. Warning for everyone . Even server didnt say thank you when I paid the bill. It waste time and money with Dono sushi. The bad sushi and service in Lethbridge.

A friendly team. Varied and quality choices, in a pleasant setting....We liked it.

The food was beautifully prepared, sushi and sashimi were exquisite, the ramen was flavourful. Unfortunately, the server was having a bad day, we have some request that she forcefully redirected, at the extent that she raised her voice. We only wanted some silverware since we were not chopstick user, we didn t finish our food and had to take it home instead.

I had the nigiri dinner combo, and my friend had the dinner box, and we loved it! It took about half an hour to get our food, though the quality and the presentation of the food was outstanding, and the flavors were The servers were incredibly friendly and attentive, even it seemed kinda busy that night, making the whole experience even better! Food is decent. Its acceptable. Price is fine. No real issues. The whole experience is very average. Except, the service is just terrible. They are not very welcoming and are very casual towards patrons. You basically show up and they point to a booth, no real service there but it works so ok. The real issue is that your server will only show up when they need to. Take your order, bring your food, and if youre lucky, theyll pay enough attention to you to bring your bill. I have eaten here several times now and the experience is always the same. Your water is never refilled, you are never asked about the food, you dont get any check-ins. You are left alone almost entirely. I think some people may like this, and in some restaurants it may work well, but here, where everyone is hidden in a booth and theres no self-serve, it means long, unnecessary waits for any service. Whatever the excuses are, it makes this place very unappealing. I only come here if its my only option for Japanese.

Came in for a family lunch with a group of nine people and was immediately turned down by the server who was extremely rude and said we don t have enough room or enough staff. Immediately, I was taken aback as we have been going to dono sushi for years now and have never once experienced such rude service. She then said she would go ask her manager to check if we could sit at different tables but then claims to be the manager herself? Did not make sense to me at all, it sounded like she was scared to get in trouble for her behaviour. It was disappointing to see one of the employees turn down business and customers so quickly!

A cozy place where you can find delicious food at a very good price

This a regular place we go for Sushi, it is well rounded but the only thing I miss is Goma-ae.

Very friendly Staff

I made a reservation, came 45mins early, I informed the hostess I was very early and if I couldn t get a table I would happily come back later. The hostess gave me sass after confirming my reservation for being so early, she was put off to check availability, then proceeded to offer us a dingy table in a crammed corner to wait. I would have happily accepted to be told to come back later. The food is some of the best I ve had, but the service was not welcoming.

In our home renovation quest, we treated ourselves to lunch at Donos every Friday. And what a treat Dono is. Food and service are reliably great. Highly recommended.

We have been going here 10 plus years. Not sure why all of the sudden they can t sell pan fried gyoza. We were told it had to be deep fried now. This will lead us to another restaurant next time. Good rolls here and good dinner, lunch, teriyaki combos. Anything deep fried (tempura) is good. If you want sashimi, nigiri, chirashidon try lighthouse.

My first time being there was great. We got the first party platter which came with so much sushi, all of it was delicious and fresh. They make sure you get enough sides for the amount of sushi you get, the lady was so nice and attentive. Ill definitely be back!

Very bad...room temperature tea, subpar tempura very small pieces small portion gave us the end of a sweet potato, we had to ask for ginger and wasabi and they looked at us like we are crazy.the California roll was pre made and very cold and stuck together like it came from a cooler or fridge...me and my wife came here the last 3 years no problem very happy. But now its gone downhill I have to look for a new sushi place now. Save your hard earned money and go elsewhere

Restaurant never fails to impress me with the quality of fish served, tried one of the dinner combos and it was absolutely delicious while only costing around 20$ Food : 5/5

The Sashimi is consistently excellent, and the cigar roll is my favorite.

Giving 1 star because I can give 0 and leave a comment. I just wait 45 minutes for my order and it never came. I had to stand up 3 times to have the server on our table to take order and to know what was going on with it. We spent 1 hour in the restaurant without food... I know you are busy with take outs but you should give priority to the dine-in customers! Or at least warned us that the kitchen is behind/or offer something as a courtesy. This is what good service entails. Well, too bad I couldnt even try the food. The restaurant closes at 9pm so we had no other choice than to leave and find food somewhere else with no apologies from the manager.

Had Udon and nigiri sushi there. Best Japanese food I tasted so far(four and half years in Canada around MB, SK, AB)! Not cheap cheap but the quality is definitely out value the price. The only reason I didn t visit again right after(it was so tempting) is I am worried about being addicted and will be hard to live without it in SK.

Placed an order for pick up and they said it would take 40mins. Drove into town to pick it up and they added two hours to the wait time. But said they d give us one Pepsi.

Got the chicken udon, tempura udon and the apple pie with vanilla ice cream. It was hot, fresh and delicious. Not super expensive either so it doesnt break the bank. The staff was super nice and friendly. I definitely will be recommending this place to others! Vegetarian options: Page on menu dedicated to vegetarian options.

The kitchen was excellent! The service was great. If you update the interior a bit, and remove the dirt at the entrance, it would be just fine.

My daughter and I love sushi so much, and Dono is probably our most frequent place to eat it. Fantastic quality sushi, delicious and consistently great every time. The price is exceptional for the product. Service can be a little slow sometimes, but always friendly. Easily 5 stars.

Great atmosphere and food. The sushi was excellent, and the tempura was some of the best Ive had. A very respectable amount of food for what I paid. Ill happily come back next time Im in Lethbridge.

Ive been going here for years and every single time I get exceptional Sushi. The guys making it look like straight up Sushi Gurus and it makes you feel confident in your decision. The booths are awesome and the location is so unique. Ill be continuing to go there for years to come

Our take out order was for 45 minutes. At one hour the waitress ran up with our order....while maybe taking another order on the phone. They may have been down an emoloyee or two. I feel bad about the low service score.

Staff have been so friendly, food is 5/5 every time except the most recent time Ive been, usually ingredients are very high quality and tasty but just seemed rushed when I went the other day :) Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly in my experience. The staff coos over my 6 month old and have been very respectful.

Food was good as always BUT... While our appetizer came out relatively quickly, we were told my daughters roll would take a bit longer because the sushi bar was a bit backed up.... we didnt think that would be an issue and agreed that the other two meals could come out first. A bit longer ended up being over half an hour, and then I still had to enquire as to the whereabouts of my daughters meal. (My wife and I were done eating by this point) Not once during that time did anyone stop at our table to check on us(or our drinks), ask how our meals were, if we needed anything...... While Dono has been one of our go to spots in Lethbridge for many years and the service has never been like this. They seemed far more concerned with the skip the dishes orders than those of the customers in their restaurant. Considering those orders get taxed by the service, dont tip the staff, and dont add drinks to their orders it seems like a shame that they choose to push the in person customers to the side to make the takeout faster. We will likely come again but it wont be for a while.

As a date my bf and I drove an hour into the city to go for sushi, we ordered several rolls and tempura. The service was terrible. We were in the restaurant for 2 hours. We were understanding initially that it was busy, but then the tables cleared out and it wasn t as busy.. The tempura came right away and was delicious. We then waited 30 minutes for 2 rolls, then another 30 minutes for another roll, then at the 1.5 hour mark we asked to have our last roll packed up to go which took another 30 minutes. In between these, they never came back to the table, we had to flag down a girl to refill the water. The rolls were good, the salmon nigiri was good, but the scallops were chewy and not great. We had 2 waitresses, one was very friendly and apologetic, the other was very overwhelmed. All in all not

We had the pleasure of trying their takeout menu, and the taste was simply incredible so fresh and delicious! Having been born in Korea, Im quite knowledgeable about sushi, and I must say, the rice was exceptionally tangy and the fish slices wonderfully thick. The rice was perfectly cooked, resulting in a delightful texture. What impressed me even more was the reasonable pricing. Its challenging to find this level of quality and value anywhere else in Canada.

Managed to secure a booth in a cubby hole. Fantastic atmosphere if you can get one because its a private dining experience. The sushi and sashimi was fresh and delicious. Needed a bit more Wasabi between two people. The green tea was luke warm and when we asked the nice young man for hotter water, he delivered. His suggestion of the Dinner Combo was great. Great selection of fresh fish, sashimi & sushi. Enjoyed Golden California Roll!! We really enjoyed the night there. Thank you. Kid-friendliness: There were a couple cute little kids running around the restaurant when we were there.

Great meal

First time visit - and the last! The service was good, but the food is the issue. Our take-out was totally a BIG disappointment, worst of all was Donkatsu.... over-cooked, rock-hard and contained a wafer-thin portion of pork. There are so many other very good Japanese restaurants in Lethbridge, make a better choice then we did!

Overpriced. Small portions. Disappointed.

Good food but fairly overpriced. For example, it cost $35 for a little bowl of seaweed salad, a small plate of calimari, and wings. On the other hand, it cost $25 for a salmon dinner box which consisted of nigiri, sashimi (seemed like good quality tbf), and 2 different rolls. So that was good value, but I still dont think Ill be going there again just due to the cost.

Our meal took almost twice as long to get to us than promised. Not an enjoyable meal once it arrived. Tempura barely warm, rolls just not good. Very disappointed after spending $72 plus tip.

Delivery was late. When I spend that much on food I prefer to enjoy it.

Best sushi place I have ever been to!

Horrible service! Had the wrong order dropped off. I called and asked them to please restart making my correct order while I deal with Skip. They refused, said they couldn t do anything about it and then were closed and wouldn t take my order 5 minutes later after I had dealt with skip. Worst customer service I have ever received.

My go to sushi place, probably the best miso soup in town. I love their garlic tofu, and havent been displeased with any meal purchased here both dine in and take out. Always excellent service and delicious food.

Superfresh, amazing flavors, awesome service!

Pleasantly surprised by the lunch bento. I got the Donburi bento and there was a lot of food for the price! Ill definitely be back to try another bento, this donburi wasnt my favorite but I really liked the tempura, miso, and udon. My son loves tomago and said this was one of the best hes had. Edit: The service here has really improved. Ive been back several times and the bentos are fantastic, such a great selection. I had the spicy lunch bento and it was spicy!

If you need gluten-free cooking BEWARE. The cooks dont seem to understand consistency and you are likely not be getting the dishes done in ways you ordered them. Happened a few times while ordering out, never said anything but today when I called back to check and was told I was lying about gluten-containing ingredients, I understood I can no longer trust this place. Also the driver tips himself the highest amount without asking and arriving much later than announced. Too bad, weve spent years and brought many friends, but now will no longer.

Poor customer service, marginal food quality. We picked up our take-out food order for Mothers Day. When we arrived home, we received a call from the restaurant that one of the dishes that they gave us was the wrong order. They asked us to return the wrong order. Only after indicating the obvious inconvenience of having to drive back to the restaurant (we dont live close by) did they apologize for mixing up the order. They could have offered us a credit or free appetizer for the inconvenience (cold food, waste of our time, vehicle fuel). We completely understand that mistakes happen. The restaurant made no effort to acknowledge the inconvenience caused as a result of their mistake. Customer satisfaction does not appear to be a priority for this establishment.

Amazing good! This looks like a hole in the wall place from the outside. It s actually not bad inside at all! Great portions with great taste. The size of the meat on the rice was very generous. The rice was room temperature, which is fantastic. It took a bit longer than expected, but definitely worth waiting for.

Delicious food and great service. Got the nabe udon and it was fantastic. The tempura cheesecake is a must-try if you enjoy really sweet desserts. The place is usually pretty busy, so the wait times are a little bit longer but its very much worth it.

I always enjoy Dono, service is good and sushi fresh. They have a good selection on the menu and I like trying something new each time I go and end up pleased each time.

Were pretty disappointed. Sushi was ordinary. Bulgogi noodles was a greasy mess. We asked for extra veggies... Got none. But we were charged extra for them. Not a nice experience.... At all

Very authentic. The place is in neat condition, really good customer service, food presentation is great and the best part, taste is amazing. If you re visiting Lethbridge and love Japanese cuisine, this is the place to visit.

Had the Tataki, seared peppered tuna salad. Wow, I want more that was amazing. Also enjoyed the Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon roll. My whole family loves the food here, wife and kids.

Only one star due to one servers disappointing service (I believe her name is Alisa). We chose the restaurant because of great reviews/star rating and unfortunately, we didnt get the chance to really taste the food. Once inside, our group was divided into two. When we were seated, we asked if we can still order the lunch menu and were told we still have five minutes. However, it took more than five minutes for the next server to take our order and no longer allows the lunch menu. While looking for substitute order, I saw her chipping her nail polish, which I find it unhygienic and showing boredom. After a long wait, we received 1 order of sushi roll then nothing else followed. We then realized, its been an hour since we were seated and the other table in our party already got their food, almost done with their meal. Only until we follwed up did we found out that our order has not been rung. Alisa admitted her mistake as we cancelled the order. At this point, we were ready to leave even though still hungry. To be fair, she did say sorry although I did not feel her remorse and rather, she laughed (almost sneer) while saying she was surprised how one of our orders came about. When she gave the bill for drinks after we asked, she made a comment: at least its only cheap. It may not paint a good picture on the business but they probably need to train their staff more.

Salmon negiri is delicious and soft. Very good prices for all their rolls. Service here used to be awful but I find its improved over the years. My biggest complaint I have is alot of their spicy rolls use this Franks red hot sauce and shred the meat that its with and it ruins the experience. I love spicy food but it just doesnt work. Overall I would reccomend to anyone sushi lover that doesnt want to break the bank but wants good quality sushi.

We were in town for a wedding, and showed up unannounced with a group of 8 people. We were accomodated immediately and received prompt seating and service for the whole evening. Food was great! Cheap prices based on serving sizes (standard rolls were great quality and value), easily understood and accomodated our dietary concerns no problem. Not in Lethbridge often (first time!) But will return for sure. Thanks guys!

Amazing service and polite staff. Some food was great (takoyaki, sushi rolls) however, my main (beef teriyaki and sashimi) wasn t very good, especially for the price. Definitely a good spot, but I would ask the waiter/waitress for recommendations next time before I spend $19 on a dish which I could have made better at home In 20 minutes. The takoyaki was the best I ve had in my life and I ve had a LOT of takoyaki in both Calgary and Vancouver. Would give 3.5 stars if given the option.

First time ever trying . Rolls were much larger than expecting , caterpillar roll was amazing the best Ell I have had. Tempura beautifully crispy with lots of variety, smaller portion than my usual place and much smaller dip. Cost approximately equal to favourite though this was majority vegetable on plus side they have a Huge Variety of Vegetable options Thou .

Wouldn t let us in with our QR code s because they don t have a QR code reader. If you cannot purchase a QR code reader you shouldn t penalize your customers. Will not be back.

Food was AMAZING and tasted authentic. The pricing was incredibly fair. They were the first place I have been to in Lethbridge to enforce mandatory proof of COVID-19 vaccine upon entry- WHICH I FULLY SUPPORT. the waitstaff was incredibly kind and very knowledgable about the entire menu. Definitely would revisit and recommend!
