PING'S Home Made Chinese Food in Lindsay

They seemed accommodating and friendly. I always wish I got more meat at these Americanized Chinese food places. Perhaps a reimagining of what Americanized Chinese food is, is in order. Or am I out of order? Anyways, I ate everything and felt full. I feel a bad only giving so many stars, as its a solid 5 for what it is.

So disappointed. Pings is usually our go to for Chinese but tonights meal was greasy and cold. Not the quality we are used to from thus restaurant.

Food today was of less quality than weve experienced in the past. Pork fried noodles was high in sodium. Also, when checking out we could complete the purchase without adding a tip. I said Im not tipping today and the server replied No Tip which I replied its a take-out pick-up plus Im on fixed income. Sense disappointment. Ive decided not too patron here going forward.

Worst chicken balls ever. I found the rest of their food very very salty. They should actually call them cornbread balls because of the very small amount of chicken. Not very happy at all!

Best chinese food in Lindsay by far. If youre getting delivery, call them directly and dont use Uber eats (Uber eats sucks). Ive only ever had takeout from here and cant speak to dining in but the takeout is delicious and always made fresh! Best to order and pick up yourself as they are popular and get busy.

Went for lunch food was hot fresh and excellent service was good considering they open at 11:30am so all good they do a nice compact lunch buffet but ima chicken fried rice fan so had to order bur no big deal leftovers go with a couple hours

Ping s was THE go-to restaurant for the two years I was living in Lindsay while attending College. They never disappointed; the food was always hot, and they always gladly made the Kung pao chicken EXTRA spicy for me. Very Friendly staff is always a nice bonus. Definitely give this spot a try. I will miss ordering from Ping s.

Unrivaled service. I forgot my sweet and sour sauce and the nice lady who served me caught up to me after I left to give it to me. The food is also amazing. Go for self serve lunch

Its always great. When are people going to learn, x-mas eve is crazy there, I ordered mine Tuesday for pickup at 5pm got out at 5:15. They were taking orders on the phone, when i was waiting, the earliest time was 7:30 pm for pickup

We tried ordering from them twice this week. The first time was Christmas Eve, we ordered though Uber Eats, but the order was cancelled about 5-10 minutes later. When we phoned we were told it would be 2 hours. We could sort of understand that due to Christmas. So we tried again on Tuesday through Uber Eats. The order was accepted and we were told about 45 minutes which was fine. We went to pick up the food and we were about 5 minutes early. The girl at the counter said that the order wasnt started yet. When pressed she estimated 2 hours. So do not order through Uber Eats. They must have signed up without reading the requirements. Call instead but give yourself 2 hours for it to be ready. As to quality and taste, your guess is as good as ours. It was good a year ago but who knows now.

Very disappointed. Not even close to what it was. Nothing was fresh and crisp. The chicken balls were hard, but not cooked. The sauces seemed like they were from a can...everything used to be fresh, including the sauces. Probably not going back. It was the last bastion of great Chinese food in this town. Too bad...

As someone who s was originally from mainland China I d have to say Ping s is probably the most authentic restaurant in the area. You won t find anything more like real Chinese food unless you go down to the Great Toronto Area. I read some reviews about certain dishes that were consistency rated poorly, such as the chicken balls. Quite frankly, dishes like those don t even exist in China, it s simply not authentic Chinese food. I was honestly surprised to find fried chicken wings on the menu. However, other Chinese restaurants like Friendly s nearby have adapted to provide well made fried foods like the mentioned chicken balls as a selling point to an alternative culture of consumers. This I must admit Ping s may be a bit lacking, but if those are what I m looking for I d also be visiting the wrong place for it, like looking for water in the desert. The style of cuisine offered here are foods you would find in their original form in China, particularly Northern regions. THAT is the amazing thing about Ping s in a small town like Lindsay. Where Friendly s and other nearby Chinese restaurants are more based upon southern Chinese cuizines and heavily adapted to Western tastes, Ping s bring the most authentic taste you won t find elsewhere in the area. Ultimately, I understand some people may find it difficult to enjoy Ping s such that the food differ greatly from local, more familiar meals, but if you do enjoy authentic Chinese food there are no better place than here. (Unless you travel to the GTA)

Chicken balls were very bland and a really thick dense batter. Egg rolls were not very tasty and bland. Rice was ok. The chow mein and mixed veg with pork were pretty good. Would I order there again? ......NO!

Good food but if they forget anything from your order they accuse you of lying so make sure to check for everything before you leave. Weve ordered from them lots of times and never had any issues. Then they forget two of our dishes and argue with us about how they didnt make a mistake. Very frustrating. I didnt expect anything extra, we just wanted what we ordered, not to be accused of lying about it.

Goods great. Ive ordered their gereneral tso chicken and its red sauce on it .. in the pasted I ordered it over 3 times. But this I got some nasty flavor that tasted like cleaning products and was a honey garlic color... which is very unfortunate considering I paid 52 dollars plus a 5 dollar tip for the entire meal. For something I didnt even eat... unfortunately, I wont be ordering from them anymore.

I must say people should trust this restaurant for its genuineness and sincerity. The owner is my auntie. She goes to downtown TORONTO for the freshest ingredients every week.

Ate here 3 times, so completely different every time. Do not eat here, I took my last meal back, I didnt even wanna eat it, keep it or throw it out. So I took the while thing back and they can throw it all out. $60 down the drain

Had food delivered, which was on time. Delivered to wrong address. Person who took my order was really good. That is why there is 3 stars. Food had no taste or flavour getting 1 star. As for atmosphere havent been in the restaurant that is why there isnt a review. Wouldnt order from them again.

Food was greasy and very bland tasting. I dont like hot spicy food. But dishes that arent posted hot. Could still have herbs or spices put into them. To give them flavor without the hot factor. Very disappointing. Will not be going back

This place is primarily a take out counter. They only have 2 tables with 4 seats each. Brought my family for a quick dinner. The food took about 40 minutes to get to us. Wouldve been OK if the food was good, but sadly, it proved to be even more disappointing. We ordered 2 kinds of fried rice (pork, garlic), honey garlic chicken wings, and the dinner for 2 (sweet & sour chicken tenders, chicken fried rice, bean sprouts). Everything was bland. We were all disappointed. I want to support local businesses. Unfortunatley, I cant recommend this place.

Its been a while since Ive ordered from Pings. The last time I tried to order (4pm on a Tuesday), they told me the food would take a whopping 2 hours to come out. When Pings first opened, we ordered and really liked it. This time, not so much. First off, the food was more expensive than other Chinese food places in Lindsay by a noticeable amount. When we got our food, my wife took one taste of the rice and wouldnt eat it which is a first. I didnt like it much, but I ate some of it. Their chicken tenders are great, but the other items were just okay at best. It was a real let down paying more for food you didnt really like. I dont know what has happened between the first time we ordered and this time. Id like to believe that the regular cook was away or something but who knows. For me it wasnt really terrible, but not great either.

The food was excellent. The place was clean and efficient. Food was ready on time. People were friendly. Best Ive had. Definitely coming back.

Call first before picking, since they say it will be ready at a certain time and it s not. Waited an hour after they said it was going to be ready. Came in, said 15 minutes, went in 15 minutes later another 20 minutes, on and on.

We havent lived in Lindsay very long and wanted to try Chinese Cuisine. We googled Pings, checked out their Menu online, ordered in with Delivery. The service was very fast, efficient and delivery person was friendly. Food was delish. We will order from Pings again.

I really wanted to love it but it was just ok. Chicken balls were just batter. The rest wasn t very good and pretty bland. Maybe I just got it on a bad night.

Sunday, January 16, 2022, my friends & I ordered take out for 4. The meal was delicious. It was lovely to have chicken balls that werent all breading. The beef & mushrooms were excellent. We have nothing but praise for the food and the service.

Purchased a combo for one. Delicious with generous portions. Couldnt eat it all in one sitting.

The hand made dumplings are amazing! Prices are great, portions are huge and everything I had was delicious!

As a Life long, occasional, small town, Canadian style, Chinese food connoisseur I bring a wealth of experience to this field. Website says no msg but was salty, not too salty but noticeably so. Veg were cooked just enough but with still a little crunch. Bean sprouts were very good, not over done. Chicken balls were perfectly round, large and lacking chicken. Red sauce (sweet and sour) was nice and red. Lemon sauce was surprisingly Orange but lemony. Expected it to be on the lemon chicken but it is on the side. Beef broccoli was good. Chicken wings OK. Was cooked in time as ordered. Consensus for my group was 4/5. Will order again.

Food arrived Luke warm. Chicken balls were mostly dough and hard to cut. Chow mein and fried rice were almost cold. I will never eat from this establishment again.

We ordered here for dinner this evening for the first time. It was very good. Best Chinese in town! The only thing I didnt care for were the cheese Wontons. Im used to cream cheese type wontons but these were more like cheddar wontons. My fault as I should have checked to see what kind of cheese they used. Lemon chicken and vegetable fried rice, AMAZING! Dinner was delicious! There were ample portions of each of the home made dishes. Our waitress was very polite and helpful! The female owner checked to see how we liked our food and brought us her favourite Chinese dessert .on the house! Pricing was very reasonable. We will return and tell our friends about it!

Tried Pings for first time after moving into area 6 months ago.Called ahead guy on phone was very polite and even asked ,what time would you like to pick it up so I said 1 hour. Order was ready when we arrived staff (lady or owner ) was very friendly. Looked like a solid amount of food for the price 60.40 fed 3 people but we wanted leftovers for bedtime after a few peach Sleemans . We have found our new Chinese spot .

Honey Galic chicken was little bit sweet but awesome! Fresh ingredient!

Wouldn t recommend. The only Chinese food place we have tried in Lindsay so far, but will try somewhere different next time. The egg rolls had zero flavour. They were just completely grey inside. I think it must be just plain bean sprouts with no other ingredient. Rice and noodles were ok. Sesame chicken was good, sweet for sure. Dumplings were good, chicken balls were giant (mostly batter) but tasted okay. Garlic broccoli was good.

The batter was very heavy on the chicken balls and the chicken smelled. I got beef and mushrooms and there is a very weird smell. I didn t even taste it you could just smell that it had gone bad. The rice was good the wings didn t taste like anything. The one star is for the customer service the young gentleman behind the counter was so helpful and friendly both on the phone and in the restaurant. $50 in the trash

I unfortunately have to give my food experience here a 2 star. I really didnt want too, however my Cantonese chow mein was off - the shrimp was old, the chicken had a weird colour to it and the noodles somehow tasted moldy. The mixed vegetables that I ordered were very good and I was going to say good things about it until there was a very weird gelatinous area which took up 1/5of my order which tasted awful. All in all I had to throw out a full order of my chow mein and part of my veg order. I called and the guy who answered was very nice, offered a free meal but I dont live in the area so it was too late. That being said I will give this place another chance when Im in the area next and will update this review at that time.

Amazing food, the poached fish in chili oil is very authentic, my Chinese partner got me to try it and now I drive a hour to Lindsay just for the dish. if your not a fish lover try the poached beef in chili oil, it is equally amazing.

Ordered chicken fried rice n chicken was processed cubes the size of corn in rice. Virtually tasteless. Will be going elsewhere in the future. Price high for what it was.

If I could give this place a zero star I would! The food is horrible! My noodles were placed in a take out container straight out of the bag hard and not cooked! My sesame chicken was cooked three weeks ago placed in a freezer then reheated and served to me - completely dry with no sauce. After spending $80, I called and spoke to the manager and I was told that it s too bad, that s how we cook food there after explaining to the lady that I would drive back and bring all the food back to get a refund, she laughed. Please save your money and your trip to shoppers for Pepto-Bismol AND DONT EAT HERE! * I just drive back, return all my food! Not only did I not get a refund, the owner didn t even apologize for the awful food / service!

Nice place

As we are new to Lindsay we thought we would try Pings on Christmas Eve as it came personally recommended. It was very busy when we picked up at 6:30 and had to wait a short time. We live two blocks from the restaurant so when we got home to eat very quickly, the only dish still hot was the fried chicken wings. the rest of the meal was cold and at best could be called edible. You only get one chance to make a good impression and they failed miserably, being busy is no excuse for bad food!

Tasty Chinese food, good portions for the price. noodles were a little bland at first, but tasted great with a little extra soy sauce. Its nice to have a little variety in town.

Its a quaint little restaurant. The staff are unusually friendly and established. There was only two complaints I had, one was the selection in the family deals. The other being quality of certain items. The menu for the family deals are not set-up with much leniency. I often find myself wanting to swap out unconventional items such as kung-pow chicken or the riblets for something more conventional such as chicken balls. This then becomes a hassle of navigating and negotiating costs to change the item. I realize that its probabl set-up this way since they do charge you extra for swapping items out. As far as quality of the food, for most part its alright. Ive tried almost everything on the menu so far, and Id highly recommend that you ask for sauce on the side since they have a tendency to really let the fried items swim in the sauce. Things like general tsos that are usually crunchy are served extremely soggy quite frequently, but this is negated with a side of sauce instead.

Loved the food! WONDERFUL service. They stayed open past close, in a snowstorm just to deliver to us. It was very appreciated. Thank you!

Great food and service

It was my first time to Lindsay and I wanted Chinese Food to take to back to my parents in law. We ordered the Meal for 3 and were very happy with the quality, the portions, and the customer service! The woman working was awesome and super friendly. Next time we want to try their Jain Bing wrap and their Rou Jia Mo Chinese sandwich.

Order two combination plates and unfortunately it was awful for myself and the other person I ordered for. The chicken fried rice tasted burnt and super oily where it left a lingering texture in my mouth. I was really excited to try this place after seeing other reviews. The deep fried chicken was okay. The bean sprouts with chicken was mainly liquid with an over powering garlic taste. Hopefully others have had better experience here! Its nice to support local but my friend and I were really disappointed in our meals.

Great food and delivery service

Not the best Chinese Ive had. I didnt find I enjoyed it. The honey garlic beef ribs were overcooked, shrimp fried was was okay but wasnt leaving me wanting seconds, the beef with broccoli was overcooked, broccoli was very flavourful though. Usually Chinese food leaves me wanting seconds but in my case, not this time. Tried it after reading some reviews and was visiting in the area.

Great comfort food!

I made a huge order for 8 people 45mins before they close. The lady was so nice and informative. It was for a birthday group so she threw in free pops for everyone. I called them only because the place I called first was so rude to me. Im glad I was able to take my business else where to a business owner that treats her customers with respect and kindness.

Took an hour and a half to get the food... Was cold and general taos was sweet not spicey, sweet and sour sauce for chicken balls was icky. Not very impressed will be looking for another Chinese food place. There was a weird spice throwing everything off. Egg rolls were underfilled and soggy.

Best taste and best service

I ordered food for New Years Eve. I ordered in advance to ensure the food would be ready. I arranged a time for pick up and they had it there waiting for me. The food was great and priced well. The portion size was generous also. We ordered a dinner for 4. With only three of us, we had leftovers. I think it is portioned well for 4 people. Additionally, there was a discount for cash. Ill definitely order again.

Best chinese food in town!

Its a small spot with a big future. Lit food best Chinese in the town of lindsay tbh and Im fat and have eaten everywhere. Perfect noodles Perfect rice Those dumplings get some seriously especially if your a bro ok fam.

The best Chinese in the region absolutely no one in the Kawarthas comes close, we need more small ppaces like that serve quality food with fresh ingredients no reheated or out of a bottle like all the rest in Lindsay.

Ordered a won ton soup, found a small dead bug in it, looked like a tiny white shrimp/cockroach or something. Very gross. Wont be ordering here again..

First time for pickup at Pings. Sweet and sour chicken balls were so hard on the outside you could have used for hockey pucks full of batter and very small amount of chicken. Chicken Tenders mostly batter. House special rice was okay . Chicken bean sprouts was the best of the lot. Really very dissapointed I will not return total waste of money.

I chose Pings because it seemed to have the best rating in Lindsay. I am leaving this review to balance things out and save someone else the disappointment. Definitely friendly Staff. Chicken Chow Mein and Eggroll were not standard Chinese food fair. Chow Mein seemed to have coleslaw. The eggroll filling was difficult to chew and tasted strange. The Chicken balls had very little chicken not unusual, but not above par. Chicken fried rice had corn kernels in it but tasted OK. No fortune cookies were included. Soy sauce and plum sauce was.

We were visiting my dad this weekend and he wanted Chinese food. I cant eat gluten, so I avoid it. Having read an article about how Ping makes home cooked food, my dad gave her a call and she was happy to find me options I could eat. When we called back to place the order, she made sure we had lots of options. While we had to wait a bit longer due to high volume of orders (a good sign in my books) she kept us informed of our order status and apologized profusely. When we got the food home and sat down to eat, it was delicious. Because I cant eat gluten, there was no soy sauce in the dishes (she put it on the side so everyone else could add it to their dishes) and my husband commented that he liked it because it wasnt salty at all which Chinese food often is. The vegetable dishes were filled with loads of fresh vegetables, and cooked to perfection. We ordered the beef and broccoli, chicken vegetable, and pork and bean sprout dishes along with chicken fried rice. The Hot and Sour soup was piping hot and just the right amount of heat. If you dont like spicy, I would choose the wonton soup. My kids ordered the wonton soup and loved it. We also got egg rolls and chicken balls for everyone (besides me) and they told me they were delicious. Sometimes chicken balls can be all batter, but as I watched my daughter cut hers in half I saw it was a very nice proportion of batter to meat. Even with precautions I always worry about feeling sick after eating out due to cross contamination but I felt great. She took my dietary restrictions very seriously. I also like that they dont use MSG. We will definitely be back as I have missed Chinese food.

Awesome food. Another very busy place, telling me its good!!!! Chicken Balls need bigger chicken chunks, different batter than I have had in other chicken balls but still good Chinese food. I like that it is advertised, Homemade Worth a try

We ordered a dinner for three on New Years Eve and the food was plentiful, delicious, and ready-on-time, despite them being busy. Cheerful, polite staff. Large portions that included fresh veggies. Would recommend to others.

Very friendly staff and service, however the food is nothing to go wow about and its typical of what youd get at any Chinese Food restaurant. A bit disappointing because the pics on the website really made us want to try it. Its definitely not home made (from scratch) I think they used the words Home Made because its a home converted into a restaurant therefore made in a home. We ordered the dinner for 2 and thought the chicken tenders in sweet & sour honey sounded delish. All it is really is heavily battered bite sized chicken pieces soaked and I mean soaked in that red sauce which made the batter soggy on top of greasy. Some of the chicken inside was dry and chewy, other parts not so much. The egg rolls seemed under done because the sprouts in it were still crunchy and not cooked like youd see in egg rolls elsewhere and the batter although crunchy on outside were a bit doughy on inside. Im happy we tried it though. You dont know whether youd like something unless you try right? Derrys restaurant is much better quality.

Very friendly people, great location, everything was delicious especially the lemon chicken and egg rolls. I will be recommending this place to family and friends for sure. Great food !

Set up like sizzling wok where you pic noodles or rice and price depends on how many sides. Enjoyed it but not much for seating.

Really fresh fare, delicious and made when ordered . The sprouts tasted so clean (what does that say about other places, yikes!), and the chicken balls and sauce were some of the nicest flavours weve had in that line up of takeout. All around great, will totally be back.

Very tasty and more authentic than any other I have tried in The area! Nice people. Only two tables but we got one and had a nice dinner.

Hello : my boyfriend and I orderer food from this place and was looking forward to it , until early morning when I had to get up and run to the toilet, not a nice picture. We were very disappointed and out $40.00, and we through the food out. Garbage.

This is the first time we visit here. The place is clean and cozy. The food is okay, though not to be expected as the typical Chinese food. The cashier is friendly. Nice place to stop for a rest and some food during a long travel.

Portion size is small!!

They are a bit more expensive than some other places but the food was very good. My only complaint might be that the chicken balls were fairly dry but otherwise very good.

Five stars!!! Amazing!! My family has lived in Lindsay for about 3 years and have had a lot of sub-par and questionable Chinese food from other restaurants in the area. We decided to try Ping s a few weeks back and I am beyond impressed, we have already been back twice! The staff are extremely friendly, the customer service is amazing, and the food was the best in the area hands down! The owner helped us decide on what to get and was very helpful and informative about the ingredients included in each dish. Ping s will definitely be our go-to from now on!

I came in 10 minutes before closing and was still greeted with awesome customer service. The food was still fresh as well, also its tasted great.

Ordered food last night, this is the worst. Small pieces of chicken in the chicken-balls which were full of way too much heavy dough. Mixed vegetables were full of starch ended up throwing away vegetables and chicken balls. My first and last time ordering from here.

I moved to Lindsay 2 years ago and been disappointed by all the Chinese takeout places. Finely a great place! Friendly service...tasty food.....the best in Lindsay by far.

This food is phenomenal. I like Chinese food, but never a fan. This is 10 star! We ordered tonight for 5 of us and it was very good. The ingredients are fresh and REAL, not processed. In addition to the amazing cuisine, the owner is extremely kind. Well be going back here for now on.

Ordered take out...Pros:very friendly staff and hot and ready, spicy black bean sauce fried rice and beef with black pepper sauce and breaded shrimp were all excellent Cons: egg rolls filling was mushy and bland,honey garlic ribs had an amazing sauce and were very meaty but unchewable and the lemon chicken was hard bits of overcooked dough with no chicken I could find...the lemon sauce had no hint of lemon flavour...ended up throwing that out...verdict...stuck to the specialties and avoid the traditional fare...sorry Pings ...I really wanted to love it!

So, its TRUE the staff is super nice.... however , it doesnt make up for the over cooked noodles, starchy broccoli and beef. Not amazing... not even overly good to be honest. Clean Yes.. Friendly Yes.. thats about it. Totally underwhelmed. If your visiting from out of town like we are... keep looking , gotta be better. Sorry, hate to leave a bad review but.... ya.

We ordered take-out this weekend for the second time, and had a wonderful experience both times. The staff is courteous and friendly, theyre willing to make substitutions for the meals, and the order was ready exactly on time. The food was excellent, hot, fresh and flavourful and doesnt taste mass produced, as some others tend to. They have some dishes there not normally seen at commercial Chinese restaurants, and if you like a bit of heat, I highly recommend the Spicy Double Cooked Bacon Style Pork. This is our go-to for take-out Chinese in Lindsay now!

Good food, affordable and extremely friendly staff

This food was worth the 11 and 1/2 months wait. I work in Lindsay for 1 month a year over the holidays, and staying at a motel in town I need to eat somewhere. Ive tried all the take-out restaurants in town, and in my opinion Pings is by far superior to all the rest. They have lots of the same food that you may recognize, but the tastes are so different, so unique and so yummy. After talking with the super duper friendly owner, I came to realize that many of these dishes are Mandarin and not just Cantonese like many other Chinese restaurants; this explains the new, different wonderful flavours. This time I tried a few new dishes... I got their Shanghai noodles, and their Chinese sausage fried rice which was delightful; and of course after almost a year, all I could think about was theyre Spicy Double Cooked Bacon Style Pork.... so I got it again and I was not disappointed...soooo worth the wait for sure.....I actually mixed the spicy pork dish with the Chinese sausage rice dish, and that was an explosion of flavours. I cannot wait to hit Pings one more time before I go home, and bring myself a few dishes to eat over the holidays.... after being away for a month I will not want to cook as soon as I get home, and Pings IS a wonderful solution. If you have not tried this place yet, you really really should!!!!
