There is no better place than the Cat and the fiddle in Lindsay. It s the Best establishment in the city of kawartha lakes. When people ask me where they should have supper, or an event I always say the Cat is where it s at . The service is excellent , food is delicious and the staff are friendly! Lisa the owner is amazing and is all about making your dining experience the best! She is there for her staff as well and personally checks on her customers to make sure their dining needs are cared for ! We had our wedding reception at the Cat in 2017 and it was absolutely perfect. My union representative holds meetings for supper with his stewards and he always says to me to make the reservation for him at the Cat as it s simply the best ! He now goes there when he is in the city of kawartha lakes too as nothing compares. So if you want a great meal, service and atmosphere go to the Cat ! Went there on Halloween for beer and nachos and pickles. Amazing!!! I love the Cat !!

Guy at the bar was too loud, so we couldn t hear each other at our table. At first we could hear music and could talk then all we heard was him. It s quite now, he just went to the bathroom.

It is always a lovely meal and great service. Consistent and reliable and locally owned. One complaint, a fancy coffee is generally made traditionally. A chocolate rim with chocolate drizzle does not belong on a B52 coffee, totally changes the flavour. Question, if I ask for a traditional B52 will it come sugar rimmed, no chocolate and a cherry? Small complaint but it was my birthday dessert, so disappointing.

I had bangers and mash, the cook burned my sausages, and the mashed potatoes were both soupy and lumpy. The gravy was ok, but the onions were half raw. My table companions both enjoyed their meals. The service from the waitress was top notch.

Food is good. Regular British pub stuff. The staff is super friendly. It gets pretty busy on weekend nights, but it never really feels crowded out too noisy to talk.

We had a family meeting here last night the service was excellent and our meal was superb. The private room surpassed our needs. We will be back here many times in the future.

I had a great experience at Cat & the Fiddle last week! My daughter started feeling sick after we had ordered and our server was so accommodating, quickly changing our meal to take out! She even gave my daughter a glow bracelet on the way out which made her smile. Lisa and her staff are absolutely the best, I can see why this restaurant has been a staple in Lindsay for many, many years!

I could not find one bad thing if I tried. Food was amazing, service was amazing, desert was amazing. My kids both asked if they could go back for their birthday dinners. Beers were checked on and topped up before the first was gone. Waters were topped up frequently as well. Definitely a must try if you are in the area.

Sorry but we used to love this place and after being away for 5 years we stopped by for wings. We arrived at 12 noon. Ordered, eat and paid the bill all in 14 minutes! Wings we not cooked to order, hot but tasted ok small and not how we remembered Edit. Lisa these were not the wings we remember from 5 years ago. We love your restaurant but we didnt care for our wings today. Wings cant be cooked to order in 6 minutes. Also when asked how the wings were my response was OK. As to the tip and the exchange of pleasantries with the waitress has nothing to do with how the wing were. Sorry

I spent $9.99 on sweet potato fries and they actually have shrunk the size so much the cone they put the fries in were BELOW the rim. honestly pathetic food, it wasn t even a snack and it was a total waste of money. service was meh. could do better. wouldn t come here again. greedflation at its best I did not come back to this restaurant.

So it took me awhile to process my experience here. I am not a Lindsay local, I just have a cottage in the area and decided to stop here for dinner on the way up as they had good ratings. The space was packed. I was met by a host that immediately asked if I had reservations. I let him know we did not. At this point he informed me he may not be able to assist me and passed me over to another server. The other server quickly informed me that I had gotten lucky that night as there was one table left. As I was seated I said I was not aware we had to make a reservation for pub style food. At what point I was snappily put in my place that this was not pub style although both the menu as well as the atmosphere does suggest otherwise. A mistake I will never make again IF I ever return. The server was pleasant although started the dining experience hastily in order to churn tables. Asking for our drink choices without issuing menus before I could even sit down. We ordered in total 2 lbs of wings, lattice fries and gravy and 2 beers and 1 mixed drink. While the drinks were good the food was sub par. The wings were okay and the lattice fries came with about 15 fries total most of which were stuck together from being frozen for awhile. Needless to say, we did not need the gravy which is fine because it never came anyhow. At the end of the meal the bill came to $80 dollars and we left there to go to another restaurant as we were still hungry. All in all this was an experience that was lack luster at best. Will most likely not be returning.

We have been to the Cat and Fiddle on many occasions, and some for family celebrations. As soon as we walk in we are welcomed, and a server comes over right away. Service has always been great and the food is delicious. We have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is lively and fun. Everyone appears to enjoying their food and their time there. We will continue to go there and we will gladly refer this restaurant to family and friends.

Recently went for my Brothers Birthday! Drinks came immediately and we were able to converse around the table easily! Many dishes were ordered, appetizers were delicious, fish and chips crispy and tender, poached halibut with mango on fragrant rice was excellent! Lisa the owner came by our table and made us even more at ease.My brother ordered more drinks after the bill was paid, no problem! We did not feel rushed, and toasted the Birthday Boy again! Wing night half-price wings were the scrawniest I have encountered in many years. half price= half size

I wrote a glowing review when we came here 3 years ago. This is definitley not the case now!! Twice bitten forever shy!! We thought we d give this place one more chance after our last disappointing visit in June and we were even more disappointed than we were the last time we came here. Don t get me wrong ..we ve been here many times in years gone by and were mightily impressed. Generous portions of roast, vegetables that were crunchy accompanied by an even number of mini roasted potatoes, tasty Yorkshire pudding and the obligatory au jus and in those days the Crème Brule was a genuine firm and tasty pudding in a very generous bowl. Not now! Talk about shrinkage with everything except the veggies and potatoes and the price ..and there was a reason for that!! Both times this year, we came for the Saturday evening special: Prime rib roast with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and veggies with $5 glasses of wine and a dessert of Crème Brule . Earlier this year we already thought it had become poor value for money. Then, the prime rib meat portion was smaller finished by a tiny bowl of Crème Brule and to add insult to injury, the price had gone up from $28.95 to $32.99. Our most recent experience was the most disappointing meal we ve had dining out anywhere for quite some time. The prime rib roast was overcooked and way over spiced and it was obvious to us that the meat had been cooked many hours before. The rub on the outside was inedible as it was a mixture of excessive ground pepper and pepper corns that completely overpowered the normally subtle beef crust you look forward to on an outside cut. The internal part of the beef was hard, dense and more like it had been ordered well done when we had ordered medium rare and it was small, about the size of a hamburger patty. There was no point asking to take it back because we could tell we d get the same again. But here was where the real illusion began. There was a huge portion of vegetables that had been overcooked ditto with the potatoes. I guess we were meant to be impressed by the volume of the potatoes and veggies and perhaps not notice that the portion of meat had been reduced even further than it had been not 5 months ago. The Crème Brule was now just the consistency of syrup but properly topped with the customary caramelised sugar crust and with a slight saving grace, this time it came in a slightly increased size bowl. Perhaps there had been a number of complaints from others about the portion size with the dessert as well. The price was a killer though. Two glasses of wine and a beer and the whole meal came to $99!!! What a rip-off!! I say this to the owner.......you do your establishment a disservice with this fare. As I say, we ll never come back here again. I cant believe no-one else has bothered to give the meal an honest contemporary review. We have since spoken to their former chef who confirmed that they had reduced the portion sizes substantially since he worked there.

I always look forward to my visits to THE CAT! Warm welcome, friendly smiles, awesome food and all around amazing service. The best staff.. Lisa never forgets to stop by and have a chat...its those little things that make you feel like coming back again and again.

this was our first visit to the Cat and Fiddle in Lindsay IT WILL DEFINITELY BE REPEATED! We had a lovely waitress Michelle! Was there when we needed her, not in your face. There were also other staff, runners, that if you needed anything, butter, a drink, anything at all, they quickly put in your request. All the staff we had were extremely friendly and pleasant. The restaurant was full, busy, but they had plenty of staff and there is a reason staff stay, Lisa the owner. Staff were very happy to work for her, she has high standards and it shows in the quality of staff she maintains! The prime rib special was very generous and cooked to perfection, melted in your mouth. our entire meal was delicious, dessert was spectacular. The other order we had was a rueben, huge and delicious as well should have taken pictures wine was lovely as was the Baileys Coffee after dinner! did not feel rushed or pressured totally relaxed with just a great experience in every way clean clean restaurant

I had the bangers and mash, but 1 bangers was partly burnt. I feel and think that the mash is hard to get poor results. I also had a small Guinness. I appreciate our wait staff. I dont think I will be returning. Kid-friendliness: I did not find it very kid friendly. But I did appreciate how the wait staff was helpful with it.

I went to this restaurant and was blown away by the amazing service food and atmosphere. I sat towards the back at nice little table by a fireplace. Anytime a server walked by they made eye contact and would ask. Is there anything I can get for you with a smile? I was there with a lady and we had a delightful time. The presentation of the plates with the food and the service and the quickness and the taste were second to none! I ve been back and I intend to keep going back!! Thank you, John Lorefice.

Stopped in for lunch and ordered their Fish Tacos. Mostly filling with a few delicious fish pieces. The cajun parmesan fries were delicious. My wife had the lunch trio but mistakes made on salad dressing choice and the rye bread was not fresh.

Noisy with a birthday party

Nice gem in the heart of Lindsay. The atmosphere truly did feel like you walked into an English Pub. The place was very clean and well taken care of. The service was friendly (thank you Amanda) and quick. The food was delicious and the beer was cold! Overall, its a great place and I will definitely be going back to try out more of the menu.

After coming across an Instagram post that showcased Chef Junior I decided I was ready for something a little better than the typical suburban eatery. 1. The short drive off the 401/115 hwy is worth the scenery (get out of the city once in awhile people) 2. Easy to find location w/ample parking 3. Staff ready to go from the moment you walk in. (Pleasant & Informed) 4. Cleanliness 5 (you can tell its always like this and not just because of covid) 5. Quality menu options (from Vegetarian to carnivore) To summarize: We started with Cod Fritters as an appetizer (Crispy in all the right ways with a great tartar sauce) and for the entree we both had the Panko Salmon w/a cream sauce (super tasty) the owner Lisa even came over to check in to see how our visit was going (I appreciated the eye for detail) So like I first said do yourself the favor. I hope the people of Lindsay know how lucky they are to have such a great restaurant.

We were driving through Lindsey and asked some locals where the best spot to eat in town was was when we stopped for Gas. They raved about this local pub The Cat. Well, they werent kidding. The place was packed and we soon found out why, the service from greeting us at the door to finishing out meal was top notch. The food was amazing, we watched as mouthwatering meals went to each table and when ours arrived it didnt disappoint. I hot the famous Yorkie bowl and it was good to the last bite. We look forward to stopping every time we pass through Lindsey- the locals are lucky to have this gem in their backyard.
