Thrilled we have a restaurant of this quality in Leyton! Fabulous Nikkei food - super fresh and beautifully prepared. Great cocktails and friendly service as well.

Had the tasting menu!! The whole experience was great Eugene was really helpful and explained everything we were eating. The price for the menu pp was the best I have found and the quality of food was amazing! Can t wait to come back for the Christmas menu.

We had an amazing meal on 27/11/24. Went due to the good reviews and we re not disappointed. The food has great flavour and lots we d never even heard of. Our party had sushi, octopus, sea bass and steak with a selection of starters to share. Everything was delicious. Super cheesecake and crème brûlée for dessert. Very impressed. We will be back.

One of the best Japanese restaurants I ve been to in a while. All the cuts of fish are excellent quality, properly melt in your mouth, and I think also great value for money given how good the quality is. Excellent service. I ll be coming back for sure.

We had a lovely meal here on a Friday lunchtime, via First Table (giving 50% of food). Everything we tried was delicious; but some good recommendations are - Padron Peppers, Cancha Corn, Salmon Tostadita, Hamachi Hot Maki and the Unagi Maki). Our server was called Daniella, and she was lovely - polite, knowledgeable and ensured we had a great time. Only marking the Atmosphere down a star because there was a slight draft from the front door.

I visited this restaurant at lunch time, and I had a nice and delicious lunch with a nice atmosphere. Service was excellent and I really enjoyed it and spending my lunch time in this restaurant. I ll truly recommend this restaurant if you want to try something new in a good atmosphere.

Bamboo Mat blew my expectations away! I had checked out their instagram page before hand and was keen to try. Every dish was representative to what I had seen online and tasted even better than it looked. Both presentation and taste were 10/10. The server took time to explain the menu, gave advice and recommendations when we were ordering and explained each dish as they arrived. The tuna tostadita and ceviche were my favourite dishes. And the cheesecake dessert was a great finish to the meal!

It was our first time dining here and we were blown away at the high quality and care that went into both the food and service. We ordered a selection of starters, including the Padron Peppers, Ceviche and Tuna Tostada, all of which were delicately plated with unique flavours. The mains and sushi were superb, with the Lomo Saltado rice and the Mango sushi roll being our personal favourites! Exceptional service all round, with each dish being explained to us. And the venue is dog friendly too, which is rare for a restaurant of such high quality. Already booked to come back!

I had a delightful afternoon sitting in the shade just outside the restaurant while it was scorching hot outside. The service was impeccably attentive. My dog and I were given cold water without having to ask for it. The food as always was remarkable with fresh and high quality ingredients. I managed to even have a very pleasant chat with the owner of the business who really cared about ensuring the local community enjoys this little gem of a restaurant. When I first heard this was Japanese Peruvian fusion, I was skeptical. I hadn t thought this could be a good marriage. Man, was I wrong. This place is an absolute GEM in the area. Our second time there tonight and it didn t disappoint. Fantastic service. Attention to customer detail is impeccable. Allergies? No problem. Preferences? No problem. The food. My god, what flavours. Wonderful ingredients and fresh fresh fresh. Delicate flavours as these can easily be screwed up. But not at Bamboo Mat. Cost: considering we had three cocktails each, 2 starters, a main and a big sushi, it was ridiculously cheap, considering the quality. Had we decided not to drink, it would have almost been laughably cheap. All in all, one of the best restaurants in the area. Absolutely worth your time if you like food. Doesn t really matter your prefs because they ll absolutely cater to what you like!

Visiting from Saudi Arabia. Amazing food, the shasimi and salmon are just unbelievable..it melts in your mouth like a piece of better. Gyoza is extremely delicious.. Had also the lamb chops, octopus, canda rolls, and salmon tostadas All were just amazing. And to finish the meal had the cheese cake which was so soft and light like a cream. Not to add the atmosphere is nice and quiet and the staff are just great and friendly.

Good that rivals Chotto Matte! We had some of the best sushi & ceviche here this weekend, with lovely friendly staff too. So pleased to have discovered this neighbourhood gem & we will definitely be back

Very impressed with the quality of food. Quality is comparable with fancier restaurants in central London! We had Ceviche, chicken skewers and sushi rolls, and all were excellent. We ate at Bamboo Mat on Saturday night for the first time. The Japanese-Peruvian meal was fantastic. Really fresh fish and perfectly cooked meat. Well thought out menu and plenty of choice. It was one of the best meals Ive had recently. It was fairly quiet - probably due to the football - but we will definitely go back and would highly recommend.

A restaurant totally exceeds my expectation and satisfaction!! Seafood is very fresh and nice! Deluxe Ceviche has a special sauce that still use the traditional tiger milk marinate but add in mango and slightly less chili. Bang on! Blue fin tuna sushi and scallop sushi are totally right on point! As an Asian, I always find it disappointed when having sushi under the hand of non-Japanese chef but this one is good! And they use real wasabi, not the green wasabi paste, that brings out a more balanced favour! Grilled octopus is tender with the mesh underneath. Together with the sauce, yum~~ The look of the restaurant from the outside looks cheesy but it is definitely a fine dinning experience in Leyton! Great find in a quieter part of Leyton. Ample parking in side street next door. Signage a bit too discreet .... we walked past it twice before we realised it was in front of us! The food is wonderful..... such fantastic flavours!

My friend and I came over for lunch and we were delighted ^_^ Dimitri was friendly and helpful, the food delicious (especially the chicken teriyaki and the fried peppers with mango miso). Recommend!

Lovely meal with really authentic flavours and combination of spices. Service was very personal and informative. We tried 2 of the house specials a sea bass dish and a rump steak. Both were very good although the rump was slightly overpriced for the size and cut of steak. Overall a great meal that you wont find anywhere else.

I had looked forward to eating here for so long, brilliant reviews and an interesting menu - it s easy to see why so many people love it here. Based on personal experience this evening, the food was good but as a meal out it was utterly disappointing. Unremarkable (other than greater cost) compared to a chain sushi-restaurant and the white wine was borderline undrinkable. The service was efficient if not impersonal and overall it felt hard to imagine growing fond of. I hope our experience was a one off and that it continues to succeed as it genuinely offers an exciting alternative in the area, even if it appears to be hit and miss in the process.

Lovely little sushi restaurant. This venue is a little gem in Leyton and has some of the best quality fish and ingredients. All dishes we ordered were outstanding! The owner served us and explained all dishes in perfect detail. He also gave recommendations on which sauces and condiments suited each dish. Great attention to detail! I was a bit skeptic about a fusion restaurant in Leyton but to be honest I had amazing dinner where everything was perfect, from food to service from beginning to end. I really recommend this place

The vegetarian options in this place are unbelievable! Go for the vegan maki, the mango maki (unreal) and there is a third which I don t remember the name, show them this pic and they will understand. Absolutely go and try!

Amazing first visit to Bamboo Mat last night. Each dish was a new taste experience, and a good one at that! It really was a unique dining experience. The chicken teriake was melt in the mouth, and the sushi was so unusual and delicious. The cerviche was like nothing Ive tasted before, a taste explosion. Gorgeous venue and friendly staff, too. The food here is absolutely amazing. The service was above and beyond and the server was very knowledgable about the food. I will recommend this restaurant to everyone I know and we will definitely be back any chance we get. Vegetarian options: Although the food is primarily centred around meat and fish, there are delicious vegetarian options. I got padron peppers and veg maki with grilled broccoli and it was amazing. The server also happily recommended other dishes that weren t on the main menu, such as mushroom spring rolls and aubergine miso and they were also delicious.

Absolutely delicious meal! Beautiful maki - so fresh and flavourful. The unagi maki was our favourite. We also really enjoyed the salmon teriyaki and the broccoli. Our waitress was lovely and friendly. They are offering 20% off food in Jan 2023 so now is the best time to go! We will be back soon and I cant wait!

The food here is fantastic, but the waiter we had tonight (sat 8th April) was awful. He was very rude and didn t treat us with respect. There wasn t many people in the restaurant and it felt like we were an inconvenience to him. Getting the order wrong and not apologising, forgetting to serve drinks, and being very forceful with how we should order and eat our food. This is really unfortunate as the food was wonderful!!!

Menu only available via QR code was an issue as my o2 signal was not strong enough to access. Waitress kindly leant me a restaurant tablet which remedied the issue. Restaurant quiet, service welcoming & attentive, doors opened onto street so occasional road noise. Food tasty, cooked & delivered a little randomly a la Wagamama, would happily eat here again if in the area, unfortunately the cappucino was not very good - weak & watery hence 4 stars for food.

Been here a few times now and we love the food. The service is a bit hit and miss, for a place thats semi upmarket, the service feels like what youd expect from a cheap bar. No real sense of warmth or welcome, just practical delivery of food and drink. At one point we had a few empty dishes on our table and the waiter just plonked new dishes on top of the dirty used ones. Towards the end of the evening we wanted to order a couple more dishes, it was only around 8.30pm and it was due to close at 11, however we were told that the kitchen was closing and we could only have a bit more sushi however there were no more hot dishes available. We ordered a bit more sushi but it was clear that they were trying to close, at one point one of the staff came offer and swirled my partners glass of wine to see if they could clear it away... anyway great food, questionable service...

Our host Dmitri was very knowledgable on all the dishes and we trusted his recommendations. Leave room for dessert. Wow wow wow! Parking: Free after 6.30pm on the side roads. Food and cocktails on point! We will be back

Place was half empty on a Saturday night. Only 1 person working front of house and 1 person in the kitchen. Took 30 mins to have drinks order taken. When they finally arrived cocktails were awful. Food orders hadn t been taken so after being in the place for 45 mins paid for drinks and left. The venue is really dark and plays aggressively loud techno dance music. Food might be great but even it were Michelin star quality it s not worth enduring such lacklustre service and terrible surroundings. Genuinely baffled as to how this place has such good reviews.

After living in Peru for two years; and working in food it s been incredible to find a place that really tastes like Peru, and this is it. The ceviche was mind blowing and Dmitri, our waiter was so knowledgeable and passionate about the food. A really special place in the area. I can t wait to come back!

Have wanted to eat here for ages, it didnt disappoint. The ceviche is delicious. The tostados were so fresh, we wanted more. The lamb was tender and melted in our mouths. The cocktails were strong and well made. Service is impeccable. Cannot wait to go back and try more on the menu. A little gem in Leyton x

Very disappointing. We had both had delivery and been to the restaurant previously. We got takeaway tonight as a special treat, as although it is on the expensive side it was so delicious and impressive previously. Tonight, the food that arrived was such small portions it was as though it had all been done in miniature. I feel embarrassed for this place and the staff, they should be mortified to be sending such tiny meagre portions with no sides for the prices - the salmon was literally just a small piece of salmon in teriyaki sauce, the brocolli for £8 was 2 pieces of tenderstem cut into three, the cerviche which we had previously as takeaway was about 1/3 the size it was previously. The food all tasted good but left a very bad taste in our mouths as we felt so ripped off and gullible. If they need to charge more then they should but sending out laughably small portions is not the answer. We live locally and have recommended it, I feel upset to have done this. Never again.

So there are pluses and minus . I love Peruvian and Sushi. So what a combo. And on some levels they deliver. But wouldn t say the food was exceptional. I ve definitely had better ceviche else where in london. Decor is just awful. Just scroll down and see a fluorescent blue hue to everyone s photos of the food. Waiting service attentive but overly fussy. Couldn t get a mouthful in without being interrupted. Trying to behave like a high end restaurant when it isn t - like reciting every detail of every dish they put down. Tacky menu with pictures of the food, like a Chinese takeaway. Given there still aren t many good places to eat in the area it deserves to be busy. But if this was more centrally located, I wouldn t go for a second visit.

Fabulous food - really wonderful flavours. Had the edamame beans (great as a starter for sharing), salad and lamb chops. Delicious! Wine very expensive though.

Very friendly staff. We didnt like the menu on your mobile as you have to scroll and enlarge to get the full list. Lots of amazing flavours and textures, a delight in every bite. Definitely planning to go back.

If your looking for great sushi then Bamboo Mat is worth a visit. A decent variety of sushi plates that were delicious and nice not having to go to far into London to dine.

Having read quite a lot of reviews, we didnt know whether Bamboo-Mat would live up to the hype. It certainly didnt disappoint. The maki was fresh and tasty, the mains were flavourful and the gambas fritas came with a delicious sauce. The atmosphere was laid back and cosy, but also elegant and fun. The service was also very friendly and professional. Cant wait to go back!

Came for dinner having seen a good review and we were not disappointed. It was pretty buzzy for a Tuesday evening, and the 2 waiting staff were busy but still very attentive. We had an idea of what we wanted to order but also took some recommendations from the servers. Every dish was lovely, unique, with some real stand outs that we will be going back to try again soon. Favourites were the Sea Bass Ceviche and the Hamachi Tiradito, Spicy Tuna Maki, Vulcano Maki, and the Hamachi Hot Maki, which was seared at the table and was really special. The waiter suggested the Mozzarella Maki and we were dubious, but we were pleasantly surprised. They only have one desert on the menu and I can see why - it was perfect and not to be missed. I d go back just for that! Only good things to say, a lovely evening, we will be back soon.

Came here with my partner as a birthday treat. The food was excellent, particularly the ceviche starters. Service was excellent, genuinely a very enjoyable evening.

I mean this place has some intriguing decor and lighting and it s also not sure of theatrics which was fantastic.. but it s the food that is phenomenal . Everything was amazing and those obsessed with Ceviche won t be disappointed.

Truly excellent sushi, sashimi, ceviche, service and experience. Hugely recommend.

One of my favorite restaurants. The best sushi Ive ever tasted Im not a fan of lamp, but their lamp chops blew me away, amazing! Thank you for existing! Be sure to try the dessert, its a mix of tastes, I love it! I will definitely come back! The best restaurant with the most welcoming staff! The best!

Our first taste of Peruvian food and not disappointed. Octopus was delicious, both tender and crunchy at the same time. Friendly service too. Its quite pricey compared to places in the neighborhood though, hope they are able to draw the crowds needed.

A fab addition to the local dining scene! Standout dishes were the wagyu beef, cevice hot maki and the crispy mozzarella maki. Unusual flavours, beautifully executed. Quite pricey though, definitely a treat meal!!

My sister has stopped to read the menu on the glass after our appointments, we dont know any places around leyton-leytonstone to eat. The waiter (Dmitry) started talking to us and talked us into coming to try the food,keep in mind I never liked shushi and only agreed cuz of my sister. however Ive tried the dragon roll and its the only shushi I eat now!! the service was amazing and the food even better !! honestly wish this restaurant was closer to my home so I could visit more often than once a month !!! thanks Dmitry for your great service and chefs for the delicious food !! cant wait to come back again.

They just opened another restaurant in Stratford. 100% beautiful. My Lady is from London, I m from Texas, just get Dimitri or Denis to help you and it continues to get better and better the more you order. Start with the Hamachi T, then Gambas Fritas, but you have to eat the onion with the gambas, to make the flavor explode or the edamame. Then go to town on what looks good. Great place. They have earned my approval. Cheers Dimitri and Denis! I ve only met you twice but well done gents!
