Found at the Haymarket Hotel, a refined 4-storey townhouse in central London, Brumus is an all-day British brasserie with a bar serving art-inspired cocktails. Alongside seasonal dishes, the menu includes ‘Classics’ and ‘Grill & Chops’. A set menu, ideal for theatre goers, is offered at lunch and dinner, and breakfast and afternoon tea is available daily. At the bar, alongside the classics, a cocktail menu inspired by the original art within the hotel is served. Drinks are based on pieces from renowned artists such as Sir Tony Cragg and Peter Rocklin. When British weather allows, you can drink and dine on the terrace.
Excellent - and well priced - food. We had dinner here after a day's sightseeing in town. Excellent service; the 2-course for £25 was perfect. Wine menu was a little expensive, but I guess typical for the area. Really nice, smart, but friendly atmosphere. Would book again if in the area..
Had the pre-theatre set menu with my mum for her 70th birthday. It was perfect! The staff were friendly, the portion size was spot on, the food was super tasty. And they gave my mum a birthday plate with happy birthday in chocolate and a candle. It just made it extra special! My mum had a wonderful time and really felt they made an effort to make her feel special on her birthday!
Right across the street from His Maj Theatre. The service was excellent, attentive & friendly. The food was incredible. I planned to pop in for a bowl of soup before the show. I was encouraged to try the pre theatre menu, which I did. I'm grateful for the recommendation. Everything was delicious.
Absolutely perfect way to celebrate my mother-in-law’s birthday after watching The Phantom of the Opera across the road. Cosy ambience and food is excellent. I would come back for the slow-cooked pork cheeks - very tender and flavourful. Good value for money on the pre-theatre menu. But what sets it apart is the extremely friendly and attentive service! They brought out a special birthday cake and accommodated all our requests (and even threw in a chocolate cake on the house without us asking for it!) Special shout-out to our excellent server Nathan, restaurant manager Bruno, as well as Elina and Menal for going the extra mile! Top-notch service (and I don’t usually post reviews)!
I booked an afternoon tea for a special occasion. The service was friendly but very slow. After being seated the next time I saw the waitress was 40minutes later. The afternoon tea was ok. The tea itself was excellent but the sandwiches were dry and the scones were not fresh.
Fantastic Experience I recently dined at Haymarket in the heart of London and was thoroughly impressed with every aspect of my experience. From the delicious food to the attentive staff and impeccable service, everything exceeded my expectations. The quality of the food was exceptional, and each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was memorable. I highly recommend Haymarket to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience in London. It's hard to believe that in such a stunning restaurant located in the center of London, you can enjoy a three-course dinner for under £30. Overall, my experience at Haymarket was outstanding, and I can't wait to return. Keep up the excellent work! Best regards, Laura
I enjoyed my evening so much. The staff were amazing. They gave us a lot of information in regards to the menu and wines. The food was wonderful. I had the venison carpaccio and the Dover sole. My wife had the small risotto and pheasant schnitzel and claimed it was lovely. I wish the decor was a bit more modern but all in all I loved it and will be back soon.
We went for high-tea and brunch. The experience was excellent. Our waitress was so friendly and accommodating. I would say you can be very relaxed without feeling you need up-talk or get peoples attention. The food was great but not generous which I liked it was just right. The tea was splendid and fresh. I had a delightful afternoon with my family.
Lovely...London prices!!
Beautiful Bar!
Atypical setting, impeccable service with attentive staff and very good quality meals. Perfect
Had an amazing breakfast here.
Great cocktails and breakfast!
Wonderful! Friendly (not familiar), helpful and courteous staff who knew their job. We went for cocktails and a delicious dinner before the Theatre and loved it so much that we went back there after the Theatre for a nightcap. The atmosphere is relaxed and unhurried. The decor was colourful, eclectic and tasteful. The all important lighting was a perfect balance of a relaxed atmosphere but enough light to see everything. Definitely worth many many visits and perhaps stay in the hotel next time. A delightful place. Oh! By the way Brumus is (or was) apparently the name of the owners dog. Sweet. It s not possible to recommend ALL of the dishes but our dinner was marvellous.
Had the BEST cocktails here. Lovely atmosphere too. What a hotel bar should be. Brilliant staff all round.
Service was really slow
Lovely spot for afternoon tea and good value
Booked a table for pre-theatre drinks at BRUMUS on Tuesday evening and Chris worked his cocktail-making magic. Thanks to the team for getting our evening off to a great start.
this is what they call humus in birmingham
Great place for traditional Scottish food and drinks! Our server Mel was kind and very helpful. I d go there again. Kid-friendliness: Great for kids
Excellent pre-theatre meal. Great value for such good food and our waiter was so attentive without being intrusive. Added bonus of a small jazz band playing exactly the kind of music we enjoy!
Lovely bar. They made an outstanding off the menu vespa martini without hesitation and with expert skill.
If you want to watch a musical in the evening, its very convenient to dine opposite. The food is good and the interior of the restaurant is great. The service is cordial.
Wonderful food and wonderful staff - a pleasure as always to visit Brums. We enjoyed the set menu and had wonderful starters, farmhouse terrine and plum tomato soup. Then we both enjoyed fish and chips, with a bottle of Sauvignon. This is such a precious place to eat, such a wonderful location, beautiful interior with lovely staff. A bit of a hidden gem that probably deserves more love (and patrons) that it gets. Highly recommended.
A lovely restaurant with an outstanding value set menu early in the evening. Service was delightful and food tasty.
Fantastic, the Jazz trio on Thursday evening are great & so versatile that they took requests. Food & service 1st class. Thanks so much
Lovely lunchtime meal. Airy and light with quick service.
Always a joy to dine here. My som used to perform at Her Majesty s Theatre across the road from Brumus with his performing arts school. So we used to saunter over for much needed nourishment!
My boyfriend and myself went for drinks at Brumus Bar today evening. It was our first experience there, even though we didnt have a reservation the staffs were extremely welcoming and pleasant. Aimee was our waitress and she served us very professionally, attentively and with a charming smile throughout the end. She even recommended some cocktails which was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening at its best. 100% recommended. Must visit and have a very good time.
Good food at reasonable prices and great service. Would recommend for a pre-theatre meal
Such a lovely spot. We went there for breakfast. Delicious, great quality atmosphere and friendly staff. Good value for money. Will come back!
All perfect! Food, service, Ambiente - perfect! I would definitely come back!
I received the best service and hospitality. The prices are reasonable and the food is very delicious.
Nice breakfast in a pleasant atmosphere. Excellent service from Hadrian and his colleagues. Thank you
Spent £85 for 2 people on a 2 course meal which was the most boring meal out in a while. The tortellini and the soup would have been nicer had they come from a nice supermarket as a ready meal. The atmosphere was also not nice and the staff mostly seemed like they didn t want to be there and we were a bit of an inconvenience to them. I was sat on a bench which had its back to a service station which they kept slamming, sending shock waves through the bench each time. We won t be going back.
I came here last year august, they stayed open just for me and my girlfriend after we came from the opera. This older Australian waiter helped us even tho they wanted to close, everything was perfect. Thank you! Food
Had a wonderful lunch here with great food & ambience. What made it even better was the fantastic service by Francesco & Hadrian. Friendly, very professional & efficient with nothing being too much trouble. Was lucky to be there for day 1 of a new fixed price 2 course menu deal with some great selections. Many thanks!!!!
Food mediocre..our ceasar salad hardly any dressing & the raviloa also dry .. wine selection extremely pricey ,however nice suroundings but not value for money.
My wife booked a table there to have a dinner before The Phantom on the Opera. We have selected a set menu (2 course for £22pp). Its quite obvious, that if you have selected a set menu, that shouldnt takes long to cook it as the most of items are ready. We have spent 1 hour and 30 minutes there. Which is quite fair time. However, we have ordered 2 glasses of Chablis (very expensive white wine), that was so warm. Cesar salad was served like some one chopped wherever it was available and added £1 Tesco sauce on the top. Second meal we were waiting for 40 minutes!!! Seriously!!! That is not good timing for set menu. We have chaise our second meal several times. As the result, we have had our second meal overcooked (they kept it too long into heater or re-heat this one several times), mash potato was cold, fish too dry. They even havent offer a tap water. Ive ordered the second glass of wine and they couldnt serve it for 15 minutes!!! Very bad management and timing. All of this happened on our Wedding anniversary day (we are married for 25 years) and that evening supposed to me something very special. So, avoid that place if you dont want to be disappointed. Oh, the guest taken they desserts in a box, as the kitchen couldnt serve them on time as well. Manager offers me a special treat if we came back there again. No f......g way Ill return to that place even for free of charge!!!
Went for the pre-theatre meal and it was lovely, good value and even with intolerance I could eat well. They had gluten free bread and the choices were good
I decided to take my Mum for a pre theatre meal here, as the pre theatre menu had good reviews. The decor and service was good but we were disappointed by our food. We both had sea bream as our main which was OK but we were surprised that the dessert was either victoria sponge cake, plum frangepane tart or chocolate fudge cake. We chose the chocolate fudge cake and the plum frangepane tart but the tart was still very chilled almost frozen and so we couldn t eat it so we asked for the victoria sponge cake instead. The cakes were nothing special and we expected something a little more exciting than a slice of cake as the dessert option.
Excellent restaurant with impeccable service. See the photos of the hotel (Haymarket Hotel) which looks superb and which the super friendly staff showed us around
We visited prior to going the His majesty s theatre which is directly opposite and choose from the pre-theatre set menu. We had the Caesar salad and ham starters and both had the sirloin steak which were all excellent. Staff were very pleasant and attentive. We ll definitely be coming back.
Popped in without reservation before my visit to the National Portrait Gallery. Waitress and host were very friendly and polite. Restaurant has a nice atmosphere. I had lunch alone, but did not feel uncomfortable. Service was excellent. Although coffee was delicious I would rate Caesar salad as mediocre, however portion is very generous size. All in all would come back and recommend.
Went there tonight after the Theatre. Welcoming and food was good plus reasonable in price. Nice atmosphere and reasonable in price.
Wow such excellent food and service at a great price for Mayfair. Lovely greeting on arrival, pre theatre menu 3 courses for £28.00.. Food and service excellent.Yes drinks are pricey but you dont mind when food good value. It was my sons birthday treat and they did him a lovely fruit and chocolate platter with a candle such a lovely touch. Cant wait to return when in area .
Excellent restaurant with impeccable service. Warm and friendly welcome. The staff is discreet but attentive to the smallest detail. The dishes are delicious and well stocked. I highly recommend in the Trafalgar Square area. Plus, the restaurant can serve you before the show which takes place in the theater opposite.
Went for afternoon tea, not bad at all, great mix of sweet and savory. Sparkling wine a bit expensive considering the bottle is 23£ in a regular store but they are in a busy neighbourhood so its priced accordingly.
THIS FOOD IS AMAZING. Pancakes are doughy and eggs are splendid! The tomato soup was a bit questionable but EVERYTHING ELSE WAS AMAZING!
A review for my parents in law who had lunch with two of their close friends in January 2024: - staff were lovely and atmo was great - food was disappointing. Risotto was cold but tasted ok. The fish over cooked and tasteless. Vegetables were cold. - wine was £12 per glass: pricey for what it was - if the food was low-average price then it would have been acceptable experience but it was £130 per couple. My parents in law and their friends are used to eating out and happy to pay for value but they were shocked at the expense for such a poor to mediocre meal.
Look after very well for breakfast this morning! Staff very good! Food excellent!
Mediocre in every way
Delicious afternoon tea but very pricey
The waitress Hadrian was super nice
Went there after watching Phantom which was incredible Had the set menu Best meal I have had in ages. Great staff, service and the ambience was perfect.
Food was ok
Fantastic place for dinner!
Its OK........
What more do you want!! Fantastic Christmas lunch/dinner. Food
Jesus. So so sad. Hotel restaurant that smells like the Kings Cross station. So old, such a drag, amazingly tacky decor to boot. Incredibly boring place. Why why why?
Great afternoon tea, but slightly expensive.
AYO?
Two course meal with a glass of champagne, super. Lovely atmosphere and service, meal was top class too
Nothing more than OK. Cocktails overall disappointing.
We went for my birthday for afternoon tea. The atmosphere was good but paying £96 for 6 finger sandwiches for two people and few deserts was not on! No one attended us if we needed anything else. I asked before we ordered the afternoon tea if they had other options the waitress said this was what is available. Wasn t happy at all!! Too expensive for a very small portion.
Food is excellent. Service is very professional and courteous. Caesar salad is incredible.
Great for a late evening cocktail
Lovely, lovely food and super friendly staff who were pretty attentive. The bar staff did appear to forget about moving us from the bar to the restaurant area and I did need to remind a couple of time but beyond that all staff were super friendly. The decor is of high quality too and really helped create a chilled ambience. Great location too. I hope we go back.
Pancake was pretty good option for small kid, and the staff were all friendly to guests not staying the hotel. Great option for a family searching breakfast option near Oxford Circus.
The best spot for afternoon tea and lunch! True and rich experience for a great cost.
What a wonderful treat before theatre night out. We did visit this beautiful place with my friend and had an Afternoon tea at the Brumus Bar & Restaurant Everything was very tasty and stuff was very friendly. 5 stars will come back again! Special thanks to Josephine (she was on her duty at the Reception)
A special place like no other!
Wont be going there again. Very slow service for what was overly priced food and drink - £24 for a piece of chicken breast with no accompaniments and £10 for a non-alcoholic cocktail!
Our first time to experience Afternoon Tea. wonderful service, beautiful presentation, yummy treats. Was an experience to write home about.
Great easter roast
I had a really good time here. The food was amazing and so was the service. I really cant fault anything. I will definitely be back.
Check the bill, overcharged for wine. No seasoning on food, salt grinder broken. Found a big bone in a tenderized chicken fillet. Steak was also unseasoned, very tough. Sticky toffee pudding was microwaved. Their bathroom says it all.
Afternoon Tea. Nice experience, but pricey, like everything in London.
Saturday 22 around 6.15 asked for the bar we , escorted to the bar sat down and was waiting to be served however we were ignored they didnt want to acknowledge are existence my partner was so embarrassed and colour shouldnt be a reason not to serve someone or stero type its not acceptable
Only Afternoon Tea I have ever experienced where I have had to pay for tea that was on the menu! No offers to replenish drinks or food. Wont return!
Service review was actually less than a star Im just not allowed to put 0 stars. Bruno should get a job that doesnt allow him to talk rudely in front of paying patrons. Eff your stereo types
Supreme dining experience. Excellent customer service from entering the door and leaving. Best customer service and experience we have ever received from any restaurant. We selected the set 2 course menu, which includes a glass of champagne. The steak was cooked to perfection and came with a side of green leaf salad. I selected the cheese board as my dessert. Its possibly the best cheese board I have ever been served. The whole team really made us feel very special. Our jackets were taken from us and placed in a wardrobe After paying our bill, the staff helped us to put our jackets back on. We will certainly dine here again. Faultless meals, fantastic cooking. Great attention to detail.
Great Coronation evening at the Haymarket Hotel.
Visited on a Wednesday evening, not very busy. Excellent and prompt service. Food was very good. I recommend the salmon fillet which was a lovely cut. Nice bottle of red too. Price as you would expect for location in London.
Wonderful place. Have eaten there on 2 occasions.
After waiting 30 minutes for a table that was supposed to vacate in 5 minutes we left. Poor service
Cozy and romantic atmosphere, very comfortable. Expensive, but very high quality and beautiful.
This restaurant is a real place of entertainment, atmospheric music, great service and great food. So I highly recommend visiting!
A pleasant spot for dinner with friends. Beautiful interior and tasty cocktails.
A cozy neighborhood eatery with a comforting atmosphere. The homemade recipes and traditional flavors made for a nostalgic dining experience. The friendly staff made us feel right at home.
A friend and I had a wonderful afternoon tea at Brumus. When we arrived, the table was was already set and a drinks menu laid on top, ready for us to make our choices. The service was excellent, they were timely when checking on us, which tells me that the staff are observant and they seemed to know what we needed before we even asked. The food was delicious, the scones were still warm! The patisserie was as fresh as it cones and the finger sandwiches had varied flavours which were enjoyed. When we went the restaurant was quiet but I could see it becoming busier around 2pm so go earlier rather than later. The atmosphere was calming and romantic. All in all, an amazing day out! Dietary restrictions: The servers made sure to ask if we had any dietary requirements before we ordered our food. Parking: There is no parking for this restaurant Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant has stepless access to the street and double doors which will allow any size wheelchair in. However there are 2 sets of double doors so a wheelchair user will need help entering the building.
Terrible place. I tried to have dinner with my two kids, and despite The fast that the restaurant was completely empty, the waiter told us were completely booked. Ridiculous. Food
We had breakfast here and I ordered the English breakfast, and my wife had the porridge. My meal came without one of the listed items, which I thought was strange. Overall it was good.
Beautiful pre theatre meal and experience service was excellent and food delicious. Cannot recommend a better choice of restaurant for a meal before you go accross the road to His Majestys Theatre .
Wonderful, high quality food. Service was great and the actual vibe of the place is lovely. The interior design is so cozy. Just a great place to get great food with friends or family :) also if you re thinking of getting desert the Rhubarb and Apple crumble is divine.
A hip and trendy plant-based restaurant with a creative menu. The innovative vegan dishes showcased the versatility of plant-based ingredients. The eco-friendly decor and health-conscious approach made it a favorite among environmentally conscious diners.
Great food in a wonderful space!
A lively and bustling food truck park with a variety of culinary delights. From spicy tacos to savory sliders, there was something for every taste bud. The energetic atmosphere and communal seating made it a fun and vibrant dining destination.
Perfectly located Restaurant prior for going to the Theatre as it was literally just across the road. We had Wine, accompanied with water & an absolutely divine 3 course Evening meal. Everything was as it should have been .plentiful, hot & tasted amazing. The service above all was spot on & staff were very friendly, attentive & could not do enough for us. I would definitely recommend. Minor room for improvements on presentation & taste but thats said, it s just personal preference. We will be back, Thank you.
Went for afternoon tea. We thought all of the food was very tasty, and we enjoyed the variety of different teas that we tried. The service was excellent and accomodating. We found the price to be reasonable. We were surprised at how quiet the restaurant was - we were the only customers there. We dont know why that is and we will return.
A charming and bustling food market with a variety of international flavors. From exotic spices to familiar comfort foods, the stalls offered a diverse array of options. The lively atmosphere and communal seating created a vibrant dining experience.
Very, very nice in every department. Not cheap, though. Food : 5/5
A cozy and inviting brunch café with a focus on homemade comfort food. The fluffy pancakes and aromatic coffee made it a delightful spot for a leisurely brunch. The friendly staff and laid-back atmosphere added to the charm.
Lovely breakfast.
Great good, especially the set menu is value for money. Great choice for pre-theatre dining
We were there for late night dinner with my daughter in sunday. Just dropped in from the street with no reservation. We were warmly welcomed by the staff at once. I really felt they were happy to see us and wanted to help us in any way. All the food and drinks we had were so good. Well prepared, looked beautifull and tasted even better. The salmon I had was really good and the chocolate mousse with some coffee was a crown for the evening. The atmosphere in Brumus was very nice. With no doubt this was the best food and experience we had in London.
Pre theater dinner for two from the set menu. Portions just the right size (not recommended if you are looking for huge meals), served quickly, efficiently and attentively without being intrusive. Lovely decor too. Will definitely go again.
Two of four main courses were wrong. By the time this was corrected, we had to bolt our food down and run to theatre. Charged full amount inc service - not amused. Shame, as it is a lovely place.
Lovely staff. They accommodated us for a same day, dairy allergy reservation for afternoon tea. The tea and food were so good. Highly recommend Dietary restrictions: Were able to accommodate a dairy allergy with very short notice
Moderately priced, well designed place with a cheap, generic-looking, pre-theater prix-fixe menu. A La carte, the celeriac and truffle soup is very simple and tastes like unadorned autumn. The pumpkin risotto was also nice, as was the poached pears and fried oat ice cream.
Afternoon Tea at Brumus. Delicious food. Lovely ambience. Attentive and friendly staff. Overall, a delightful experience.
The cocktails were phenomenal, however the food was dismal especially for the price point. Our server was able to remove some items from our bill (thankfully, it was simply not edible) but we wouldn t go back to eat. Drinks however, absolutely. Some great and very tasty creations!
Lovely place to eat. The staff were excellent and the food was delicious. Highly recommend and especially for the pre theatre menu, super value.
This was a brilliant experience and I would recommend it to anyone
Stellar experience. My mom and I were visiting London and came across this lovely restaurant from the sign posted outside about Jazz night later that evening. We decided to ask for a table and although full the manager, Alin, was kind to take our name and mobile number and mentioned upon our return when ready to dine he would find a table to accommodate. We returned earlier than expected and to our delight his offer still stood and he offered us a table in the bar area close to the Jazz with the ability to still have dinner in that room. The waiter, Josh, was very hospitable, polite, professional, timely, and always with a smile. He was the kind of waiter you hope to have service you at every restaurant. I had ordered the steak well done and when it arrived, I took notice it was not well done at all. Considering how busy the venue was that evening and accommodating us last minute with a table, I managed to eat most of the steak. However, I noticed it was raw and then Josh appeared and noticed as well and was very apologetic. He took the steak and even though I asked to just quickly flash it no worries, he returned with two complimentary champagne glasses (one for me and one for my mom) to apologize and then returned with a whole new steak and fries. Just wow. Completely above and beyond. I was so impressed that I just thanked him over and over for his attention to detail, tipped him extra and also informed his manager Alin especially that its the holidays, review time, bonus time - Josh is a true example of the standard wait service should match. Thank you Josh and Alin! We will certainly return for a future visit. Good steak, good service, good music is a win win situation for a delightful evening. MANY THANKS and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
We have enjoyed an excellent experience at Brumus. Shiva, our waiter, did a great job and made us feel at home! We loved the food and how we got treated - we can recommend it and hope to be back soon again.
Beautiful atmosphere. Fantastic service. Really nice place.
Always very good quality and service.
Continues to be a must stop venue whenever I m in the area. I enjoy introducing Brumus to friends and family.
It was ok for a very busy Saturday just before Xmas. Various meals were brought out lukewarm and over seasoned. Hotel is great and location
Wonderful service. Great atmosphere. The bar staff were great.
Eclectic and stylish decor, great food and attentive service!
Great feel to the place. Food was good and the staff were very professional but friendly. Next door to the theatre so a good place for a pre or post meal or drink.
Really fantastic service, which I would rate 5 stars. The food was ok, my main course lacked seasoning and a general punch of flavour. I had sticky toffee pudding which was divine.
Very disappointed in the food and the service for what was a very expensive meal. Food was bland and extortionately priced even for London standards. We were not even asked at the end of the meal how everything was to be given the chance to convey our disappointment. Bitterly disappointed and out a fortune for a sub standard meal in the city.
We had a lovely set meal before going to the Theatre next door for the evening performance. The staff were patient and attentive. The food was delicious with good size portions. Felt thoroughly spoilt in a wonderful setting. We enjoyed our dining experience.
This was a very disappointing Afternoon Tea - Service was shocking - a classic example of not caring, instead, a preference to rest on reputation and opt for ignorance Possibly the worst service I ve ever had at a five star hotel, where the maitre d was happy to argue the point rather than wanting to solve the issue. 1. Took take minutes to be serviced (had to ask for service) 2. Chip in glass 3. Delivered tea without identifying which one was which, when asked, maitre d said he d have to take them into the kitchen and smell which was which . 4. Finger sandwiches were stale - unbelievable l!!!!! Clearly left out in the kitchen 5. Maitre d simply was shocking - inability to be able to resolve, turnaround a poor situation and make it good. Really an awful service and very poor leadership. Very very disappointed in the Haymarket hotel for allowing their staff to represent them like that.
Staff, food and drink were fantastic. Would definitely go back again, we were never rushed during our meal or over-interrupted. From taking our coats to drinks at the bar to enjoying a meal with friends it was a great evening. Thank you Brumus.
I wanted a pre theatre meal as we were going to a show in Haymarket. The staff were efficient and friendly, the food excellent and the fixed menu prices reasonable. It was a lot better than I had expected.
Staff were lovely, presentation was good but food experience was very poor vs the high price I would expect top quality flavour and what I got was a bland overcooked steak. Wife s dish was also bland.
Lovely pre theatre set meals. Good value would definitely recommend.
Owesome
I was hardly impressed with afternoon tea at this location: food was decent but the experience was severely marred by the egregious lack of decorum displayed by the maitre d. I wore a mask so that made my words hard to hear but apparently not being clear enough in diction was enough for him to feel entitled to talk down to me; I am sure that he only felt confident to do so due to my age because, I assure you, there is no way such a patronizing manner would ever be tolerated in front of an older-looking adult. The lack of courtesy was appalling and was only amplified by his inability to look me in the eye following this incident; instead, he only ever deferred to my older friend. Furthermore, he left our table unattended quite often, instead choosing to cater to the other tables. I would however like to highlight Patty, a server who was both friendly and courteous; she made great conversation with my group and was overall a delight to meet. All in all, I would not recommend this location for afternoon tea.
The restaurant was lovely but service not good for the price. We were never asked for more drinks, we had to wave down the waiter to get another one. Asked about a good compliment wine and no knowledge about the wines was given. The gluten free bread wasn t good - it was supermarket bread. The schnitzel was very mediocre- however the fish was good. Not a whole lot of choices but overall a fairly decent menu, but again for the price, not really worth it. Cocktails were very nice but we won t be back here for a meal.
Food was good, but my hash browns were a bit salty. Pretty restaurant with good food.
Fab
Amazing service and kind staff, Engelbert made me the best espresso martini I ve had in my life! Highly recommend
Super quiet restaurant where you can have lunch, drink afternoon tea and served by Spanish waiters. Never disappoints
Things were surprisingly quiet for a Saturday morning in Central London but we were lucky to find this charming place attached to a hotel. The menu is perhaps not the broadest and the portion sizes slightly smaller than in a cafe but the staff are absolutely lovely and really make you feel at home.
Delicious dinner. Love the Kit Kemp design and beautiful napkins and plates. Service (perhaps post pandemic) is spotty at best. I knew that if I ordered dinner before my Negroni arrived that dinner would arrive first - so I kept my order a secret. (The Negroni took 15 minutes to arrive). Waiter told me the halibut was served with asparagus. It wasn t. When he cleared my plate I asked him (somewhat sarcastically) what that extra plate and knife was for. He replied it was for bread and butter if one wanted it, which I was never offered. (I didn t want it, but this is so basic). My tip: manage the wait staff with courtesy, but tell them the run of show and be clear about your expectations. If you are not interested in being assertive, you may want to consider going elsewhere. If you can manage the wait staff then you will have a lovely dinner in an aesthetic delight. And don t sit too close to the bar. The music isn t synchronized so you ll get jazz in one ear and something more upbeat in the other ear, which could make some diners anxious.
Horrendously long wait between courses, unfriendly waiter, food only warm, something was seriously wrong with delivery that evening. Previous lunch experience was great. Lovely comfortable restaurant.
Lovely food in a very comfortable setting.
Great stopping point during the day, great service and a nice fayre on offer.
Very good
We went for English breakfast and enjoyed the meal very much. Portions were good and quality superb. Exceptional service with attentive staff
Good service
Great food, lovely friendly staff and perfectly located for our night at the theatre across the road. We had the set menu which was really good value for money. I will recommend to family and friends.
Ideal for quiet business breakfast
Perfect as always
Was early for a show at the theatre next door so decided to see if it was possible to have a couple of drinks in the bar, ended up having a meal. Delicious food, Very reasonably priced for London
Perfect
Loved it
For me, for the money, not worth it. Having said that the service was excellent and the steak good.
Had the Festive Afternoon Tea here with a large group (8, including a toddler). The team were extremely accomodating (high chair for the toddler, also made amendments to the booking on the day). Service was excellent - attentive yet unobtrusive, with a bit of good humour from one of the younger male waiters whose name I unfortunately didnt manage to catch. Tea was £29pp - a more affordable alternative to the classic London options that are more than double the price but not twice as good as here! Decor was quirky and unique (Kit Kemper); the restaurant itself was quiet (Friday afternoon), making it suited to having conversation easily with those beside me.
Lovely food, good service and a very reasonably priced set menu
Really enjoyed the atmosphere, the staff where really great, dropped a star as I was a little let down buy my steak, but not enough to complain, was cooked to perfection. And had an amazing texture, felt it was just not quite right, my partners meal was very good and desert was fantastic,
Expensive but nice
Very good.
I love this place.Have been here 4 times. The food and the service is excellent so I can recommend it.
Good taste, very nice staffs. Thank you!!
Very nice interior, good service, delicious lunch, I am satisfied. Personally, I don t recommend pasta.
Quiet and very good for a business lunch
Excellent food and staff excellent
Great food, and staff great,i love this place
Perfect spot for pre Theatre Royal dinner or drinks complete with Only Fools & horses cocktail option (loved the Cushty!) Sea bream was exceptional as was the vegan cheesecake. Chilled ambience, fabulous decor and outstanding service. They even surprised my husband with a Happy birthday chocolate plate. Highly recommended! Thank you for making this special occasion extra special for us.
Beautiful restaurant, friendly staff, food average...
Amazing place. Great atmosphere. Cocktails are fab. Staff are so so friendly and on the ball.
Everything was delicious and presented really really well. The decor is great and the restaurant itself is centrally located.
Lovely food and ambience
Breakfast experience - staff attentive and friendly but more education with inexperienced staff needed. ( a piece of toast dropped on to the table and waitress picked it up replacing it in the toast rack! An apology with option of fresh toast would have been fine but not offered). Expensive for the quality of food served.
Upmarket but relaxed. Attentive but not ott staff. Everything spotlessly clean. But the star of the show was the fish and chips. The best I have ever had. Chips were crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and perfectly seasoned. Fish was fresh with tasty batter.
lovely restaurant was there on the 28th december for my wife dads 90th birthday food good and services waiters were 100 per cent will go again and tell friends
I loved Brummus for its casual elegance. The service was low key but special and our afternoon tea was exceptional. We had a superb cocktail to kick start our afternoon and sat and chatted and giggled all afternoon without feeling as if we had overstayed our welcome. This was my first visit but was accompanied by a friend who had been many times and she said it is consistently good. Dont hesitate to book.
Gorgeous atmosphere!
Shame about the cheese and biscuits along with the coffee
Excellent fish of the day, very good service, now to the theatre, thank you !
Remarkable experience, delicious dining, profesional staff and elegant decor. The food was also reasonably priced (we went with prior booking with Open Table and their set menu) but ala carte looked sane as well. There was one issue with our food, still very tasty, and I must admit that the manager handled it extremely professionally. I was positively surprised by the quality and quantity of food. They also have some sitting outside area which must be incredible when the weather is pleasent. It is a perfect place for a date or special celebration. Pictures include: chicken, broccoli soup and pear-pistachio cake.
We were a group of 11 for my friends hen do. Lovely atmosphere/setting but for the price of £26 wasnt expecting dry sandwiches and scones that I couldnt eat as were too dense and not light and fluffy.
