I recently visited Bistro on King s in London, Ontario, and I can confidently say it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I stepped in, the atmosphere was vibrant yet cozy, the perfect spot for a relaxing meal. Our server John was the one of the best we ve ever had! The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly their tomato and goat cheese dish absolutely divine! Every bite was bursting with fresh, rich flavors that were perfectly balanced. It s one of those dishes that lingers in your mind long after the meal. What stood out just as much as the food was the service. Despite being incredibly busy, the John went above and beyond to ensure every guest felt cared for. You could his dedication in every interaction he never let the rush affect his warmth or attentiveness. Bistro on King s is truly a gem, and I can t recommend it enough. Exceptional food, heartfelt service, and a welcoming atmosphere make this place a must-visit. I ll definitely be back!

Ordered the calamari and perch, love the taste! The waitress is awesome as well. Only the kitchen guy who is cleaning the dishes seems to be not having a good day but still highly recommend for the food!

Went for lunch. Double fried French fries soggy. Rest of food ok. Inconsistent from last time. Tables dirty under the glass tops bread crumbs etc. clear glass should be lifted to be cleaned. Extremely pricy mimosas.Not as impressed as our last visit.

I had planned a surprise bday dinner for my best friends for two months. I made the reservations a month earlier than the date of the surprise. I specifically asked for the prefix menu. It was legitimately the only thing that made me inclined to book with them seeing as I had a party of almost 30 people. I did so to make it easier for everyone to split the bill as well as make it easier for the kitchen staff and servers. When I got there, they didn t even give me a chance to surprise the bday girls and immediately pointed to my party which was split into three different tables. It was so awkwardly placed! The apps were good but my steak was burnt, not charred and it was way too much sauce on top of it. Some of my guests had the regular NY steak and said it was good but my table had ordered the ribeye feature and it was just ok. Burnt parts aside. Our server was really attentive and fast and even the owner was nice when we were taking turns smoking outside. It was raining and he was considerate enough to let us take refuge under the tarp covers. On top of not letting my party have the prefix dinner, they called me SIX DIFFERENT TIMES to confirm. Two on the day of and two the day before. I get that the weather was bad but I m a decent human being and I would ve called to cancel if necessary. It was borderline harassment. Obviously we were charged 18% mandatory service fee for a party so big but I still gave 15% tip on top of it because our server was nice and did good even though I did not enjoy the food. I barely ate a quarter of my 10oz steak. The other table wasn t so lucky as they had a slow server but it could ve been because she was also tending the bar. Some guests enjoyed the food a lot but others including myself was not satisfied at all. Thank god we had amazing company because they actually calmed me down, I was so upset about the mistake they made regarding the prefix menu. To be honest, the portions were big but it didn t make up for the lack in quality. We spent a lot that night. We had ordered shots and wine on top of the food. It was just a big mess it felt like, but I m just glad it didn t dampen the mood for the bday girls.

Another great dining experience at Waldo s food was delicious and generously portioned the salmon special was amazing! John was an exceptional server! Never disappointed with this establishment. Highly recommend.

Probably one of my favourite restaurants in all of London. The food and drinks are great, plus the staff are top-notch. The atmosphere is very relaxed and inviting. A good spot to go for dinner on a date night or catch up with a friend over lunch. Its usually not too busy on Sunday or Tuesday afternoons around noon, which can be a good time to go and avoid the crowds you sometimes see in the evenings.

We ordered the tomato stack appetizer which was very fresh and delicious. For our main dishes we ordered butternut squash ravioli and salmon in a cream curry sauce. Both we very delicious. Fresh ingredients and nice presentation

Lovely little spot downtown London. Came in for dinner with my wife on an early afternoon and they served us dinner despite coming before their dinner service started. Our server John provided fantastic recommendations and offered a outstanding service - truly a professional experience. My wife and I both got a tenderloin surf and turf feature as it was highly recommended, and it did not disappoint! We also ordered a calamari as our app. Was described as very authentic and it was different from the deep fried calamari we typically order at most restaurants. We will most certainly be back. We ve always enjoyed going to Waldos for a bite to eat. Unfortunately, on our last visit after reviewing our bill, I noticed a credit card fee of $4.67. We paid with a gift card with the remaining balance being paid by debit. Very disappointed that Waldos is stealing money from their customers, applying a fee to all bills that doesn t always apply. When we asked about the credit card fee, they said that they applied this to everyone s bill. Our waitress asked us to take out our phone to remove the credit card fee to get the correct amount. We will not be returning. I will not support a business that sneaks in extra fees that do not apply. The simple solution if you need to charge a credit card fee, would be to ask your customer their method of payment and inform them of this fee. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR BILL FOR A CREDIT CARD FEE IF PAYING DEBIT, CASH OR GIFTCARD.

What a wonderful experience! Everything about this place was great. Amazing butternut ravioli and ribeye steak. Our servers were so attentive and since we mentioned celebrating birthday and anniversary they brought 2 complimentary desserts with sparklers. I highly recommend it. Parking: The garage is free and connected. Our vehicle was to large but a free lot around the corner.Very convenient.

I likes the service and everything, the food was great too. But I think they should also add some orders for kids or options like anything like burgers, chicken wings and more, but overall this place was super good and you should try it out

Wow! Can t say enough good things about this restaurant! The food, service and atmosphere are all amazing. A couple of recommendations: pasta bar and the perch dinner!

A really unique and creative menu including many, many vegetarian options in both appetisers and entrees. (Rather than the usual one/two options you mostly find at good restaurants!) Portions are generous and the prices are fair - except the wine is quite expensive. Theyre always willing to split and plate appetizers right in the kitchen which is a great bonus! Both indoor and outdoor seating is available and they take reservations. Location is great because you can park at the market which is attached, and its super convenient to Budweiser Gardens. Nothing but great consistent food, presentation and service!

My husband and I had our date night at Waldos tonight. It was our first time there and we had a lovely time. We had the pasta bar where we made our own pasta dishes and they were delicious and the portion sizes were great. They werent shy about giving you good amounts of each topping you asked for too. Our server was amazing, I think her name was Sanam (I hope Ive remembered that correctly) but she was wonderful... everything you could ask for from a server: polite, friendly, checked in a good amount of times but not too often so we didnt feel interrupted, payed attention to our drinks and when we were running low, cheerful, kind...I could go on. We will definitely come back to Waldos.

Waldos is the best ! Third time here before a concert at the Bud and it was perfect again. The service is top notch and our server Hollie was incredible, she had us laughing every time she came to the table. We were 2 couples and all four meals were delicious. Steak cooked to perfection and tender. Butternut squash ravioli was delicious and baked brie in phyllo to suggest a few. Weve had other dishes on previous visits and were always impressed. We recommend all the different martini flavors too. Well see you again soon Waldos.

Thoroughly enjoyed lunch today with two great friends at Waldos. This was the first visit for all of us and a great time was had by all. Our Server, John, was attentive, friendly and professional; perfectly wonderful service! We had the pleasure of meeting the new owner when he paid a visit to our table. The menu choices are abundant and the food was very good! Lots of great vegetarian options. Generous servings, great flavours and presentation. The mango sorbet dessert is a must try! Our stay was probably a bit longer than most and we were made to feel comfortable and welcome regardless. The on-site underground parking (1 hour validation) is convenient, making this an ideal spot to meet up for lunch. Go enjoy!

My parents and I came for a special occassion August 8 2024 we took advantage of the London Licious menu it was fabulous tons of flavour and generous portions really great value and our server Holly was so kind and friendly we loved her, next time we make a reso well definitely be asking for her! My partner and I went here for our anniversary dinner back in May (I meant to do this review forever ago!), and Theresa really made this a very special experience for us. The food was fantastic, the service was fantastic, and we will definitely be coming back here again in the future!

We chose Waldos on King because of the reviews we had read. We were greeted warmly by Mica who was our server. For the main course I ordered duck breast which I have never had before. It was delicious. In fact, we kept saying that about all of the dishes we tasted. Mussels. Delicious. Chicken Satay. Delicious. Creme Brule. Delicious. Chocolate Mousse. Delicious. Mica suggested a lovely red wine. She was amazing, attentive and professional. Make sure you go when the market is open. We were sorry we had missed that opportunity.

Went here with a party of four and had a very mediocre meal and service. Usually, a 4.5 on Google is a safe bet, so we thought we d splurge for our last night in London with the family. It s located in a lovely market and looked decent from the outside, but unfortunately, that was not the case. It started with the breadstick a dry, crusty phyllo pastry stick with a poor drizzle of balsamic and oil that it couldn t absorb. Then came the overpriced food and beverages, with additional restaurant fees (more on that later). Being a higher-end restaurant, I tried chatting with the waitress about local beers on the menu. She either didn t know or didn t care (wine only I guess), so we skipped the appetizer. We ordered the $35 perch, which was very underwhelming for the price. The beet salad was the only thing that seemed reasonably fresh, according to my companion. My wife had the pasta bar for $34, which was even worse than the perch. The portion was okay, but both the pasta and meat were overcooked. Oh, and get this the pasta bar didn t even have spaghetti. Seriously, who runs a pasta bar without spaghetti? That s like a pizza place with no pepperoni. Then there was the short rib this should have been an easy win, but unfortunately, it wasn t. The ribs were just okay, while the three whole asparagus pieces and overworked potatoes disguised as mashed were hilariously bad (were they even real potatoes or instant I thought). Another issue was that, what looked like the end of the main meal, we were interrupted by the table busser who insisted on clearing everyone s plates before we were all done with our meals. Nothing like feeling rushed through a mediocre experience. At this point, we thought we d try to salvage the meal with coffee and dessert, but no. At $12-13 per person for two bites of dessert and plus $$ on top for coffee, it was a rip-off. No one seemed to know the difference between a latte, cappuccino, flat white, or Americano. They should have informed us that they didn t have drip coffee. We asked for decaf, which came out hot in one minute pretty sure it wasn t decaf. Then I got my cappuccino, or rather, a weak & mealy latte. When I questioned the server, they looked confused by the difference but did take it off the bill. Probably one of the worst coffees I ve had in a while. Now, I don t want to nitpick (ok I do), but a 4.5-rated restaurant charging high-end prices needs to step up its game. The cherry on top was the bill: we were only informed at the end of our meal that using a credit card for our $200+ meal would incur a processing fee. Yes, at the end of your meal, it s get some cash, use a bank card, or pony up for processing. Here s the short answer: avoid this place like the plague. Poor service, poor food, high prices, 80 s Italian restaurant decor and hidden fees unacceptable. The best option is literally across the street: a burger place called The Works. For half the price, you get first-class service (no joke, they were really great), beers, and the best burger I ve had in quite some time. So good, next time I m in town, I m going twice. Just stay away from Waldo s, the tourist trap.

My husband and I came here from Michigan as an impromptu day trip about a month ago. We specifically came because of the Wine selection. For the life of me, I can t remember my server s name (I think it started with a C, or also maybe it was Liz?), but she was lovely. She had dirty blonde hair and glasses, and was so great trying to give us advice on what to do in town - she even flagged someone else over to help give us some tips. The food was great, my husband got the seafood stack and I got the salmon special. They were out of the wine I wanted, but gave me a great alternative. While the likelihood of our coming back to London is unlikely, if we do we ll be coming back to Waldo s.

Wow! One of the best place to dine at. I had cold roast beef on a bun and it is really delicious. The waldos hoagie looks sumptuous. The fries is fried with beef oil and its really tasty compare to other fries. Highly recommended when you get the chance to go here in downtown London.

We ended up here after another local restaurant was closed, despite allowing us to book. Hadnt been in years, but remembered enjoying it. Service and food were terrific- a bonus to them saving our anniversary date night. We both had wine and steak and thoroughly enjoyed the vibe in addition to our meals.

We just had Mother s Day brunch at Waldo s. This restaurant is truly a gem. The food was incredible, the server so friendly and accommodating.. oh and I ll mention again, the food was INCREDIBLE!

I wanted an amazing steak for my birthday. I will have to say this place definitely hit the spot, over the past year I ve been to a few places in London was not satisfied with the portion size. Its a shame to write less than perfect review for this place as it has lovely atmosphere and I like their drinks. I have been there multiple times and the service is usually great except when that lady does the service she is usually very blunt I went there around 7 pm on weekdays after checking google map about the time they close and it says 10, so I simply asked how come you are closing and the google map says its 10 pm, the lady said well we don t owe google map anything and if you want to know when we close you should have used our website we don t owe google map anything, she said that interrupting the other waiter who wanted to explain the coming info very nicely and politely anyhow after she was done talking the other waiter explained to me that they close whenever their last reservation is because they are understaffed after covid and he was very polite and apologetic about it.

What a pleasant experience. I planned a day of new experiences (based around the 5 sense) for my husbands birthday. For taste, I booked Waldos on King for lunch. Having never been here, I am so glad this was the restaurant I chose. It was perfect! Our sever, Cameron was very nice, personable and attentive! I was so pleased with his service! The restaurant tolerated my messaging weeks before and accommodated all of my requests. The food was amazing! The presentation of the food was so beautiful and creative. The chef was incredibly nice, to split our one dessert order into two separate stylish presentations. The dessert, dark chocolate mouse with assorted berries, was also heavenly to taste! Thank you Waldos for helping me to make my husbands day of new experiences meaningful and adventurous!

I was very disappointed. I went a few years ago, and it was great. This time not so much. The duck was really overcooked, and the sauce I received on my seafood tasted like buttered chicken sauce

So sad to have such a mixed review. We came in on the 24th, for a lovely dinner. We even had dietary restrictions that were handled brilliantly. Had great service, and enjoyed it all. That was until a roach crawled across the wall immediately behind us. We killed it, brought it to the servers attention and she apologized profusely. She said the place is sprayed regularly but the market and the building itself have a problem. We tried to sit and finish our drinks and dessert, but another one crawling across the table brought our evening to an end. Sad that employees have to explain to customers, that the building isnt doing their part.

The food and the atmosphere were impeccable. I had baked brie in phyllo and rack of lamb. It was cooked perfectly. The staff and the owner were very attentive and provided wonderful service. I look forward to coming again.

We come here for date night from time to time and the last time we went I got the duck and it was soo over cooked my mashed potatoes were horrible and my bfs food wasn t even what the description was. When you re paying for high quality food and it s expensive it should be worth it

I went to Waldos as a late Valentines celebration. The entire night was fantastic, the waiter was great. They were kind, efficient and funny. The food was fantastic, I had the pasta and my partner had the steak. To drink I had a strawberry daiquiri and that was lovely. For dessert I had the crème brulee, and it was the best I have had in a long time. Everything was exactly how you want your experience to be. It was a little pricey but everything was well worth the cost. I recommend making a reservation as they were fairly busy on the Saturday evening.

Lake Erie perch lightly breaded and fried....fish tasted awful and breading had absolutely no flavor to it whatsoever. 3 pieces, one literally cut in half. Rice served was plated like it came out of a cup....dry and crunchy like it had been made a whole ago and microwaved. Flavor also not good.

My friend and I ate dinner here and had an absolutely fabulous experience. We made a last minute reservation so could only book a table at the bar but this didnt interfere with a beautiful dinner. Our server/bartender John took our orders and made our drinks in a very timely manner and frequently checked in to ensure we were enjoying our meal. The owner Mark sat down next to us and was very happy to offer recommendations and discuss how a dish could be accomodated to our specific preference. He seemed to interact with many of the customers to ensure everyone was enjoying their evening at his restaurant. We ate the beetroot salad and jumbo shrimp appetizers and the lamb and short rib entrees as well as the creme brulee dessert. Literally everything was absolutely delicious. The attention to detail of the chefs was very evident and the portion sizes were excellent at this pricepoint. This was our first visit to this restaurant and we certainly intend to return.

Waldos on King is a great place to go for an amazing meal. A couple friends and I went for Londonlicious and both that menu and the regular menu had fantastic options. The food was cooked to perfection. The baked brie was mouthwatering. The soup of the day came in a very small bowl but was delicious. I worry about too much salt in soups at restaurants but they did not over salt it and it was a wonderful creamy mushroom & brie soup. The breadsticks on the table were unique and scrumptious. All of us ordered the pasta bar for our mains and they even allowed my request of substituting gnocchi instead of a listed pasta. Their pasta bar has pretty much anything you could want to put in a bowl of pasta, so many different vegetables and meats with several sauce options. And you can put in whatever you want. Portion sizes were great! The evening was made EXTRA special and fun by the wonderful staff. Holly & John were knowledgeable, very friendly and attentive. Thank you to you both for such a great time, you made our night! I highly recommend this place if you want great atmosphere, food and to be treated with some of the best service in the industry. Im looking forward to returning and trying some of the other delicious looking items on the menu.

My husband and I have been to Waldo s a few times but tonight was by far our best experience. Our server John went above and beyond, was so polite and helpful, very kind and professional. My husband and I have been together for almost 10 years, we ve been out for dinner hundreds of times and John was the best service we ve ever had.

My husband and I decided to give Waldos a try during one of the busiest times.... right before the Knight Game. We know how hard it can be to find a table but have been very lucky this last month. The food was phenomenal. So phenomenal we have been back more than once. Great Food. Great Staff. Great atmosphere. Great Fast Service so we arent late for the game :) I recommend to all!

Just experienced a very avg birthday dinner at Waldo s tonight. We both split a Caesar salad that was tasty, could have used more reggiano and salt. We both had the 8 oz steak with fries and asparagus, asked for the steaks to be down medium but came out medium rare. I ate some and said to server that it was medium rare and she took the plate but nothing was rectified or talked about. Steak was bland as well as undercooked. Next the dessert, again we both had cheesecake and it was their version of it in a ramakan nothing special. No wonder people are staying away as for two people to have a supposedly high end meal it was 136 plus tip. Very disappointing selection to eat here. They also get grumpy when you ask to be moved away from the tables near the front door because of the cold air coming in.

Im late posting this review as I visited about 3 weeks ago. Waldos definitely earned a 5 star review. We were shopping in london that day and decided to stay for dinner. I googled fine dining places for dinner, and Waldos was top of the list. We didnt have a reservation, but we were still welcomed into the restaurant. The atmosphere is intimate, and the staff are highly knowledgeable of the spirits they recommend. Our server, whom I believe was John, forgive me if Im wrong offered us samples of some fine wines, and we definitely indulged in a couple of glasses before our meal. We started with the grilled calamari, tasty, fresh and tender. Ive never had unbattered calamari, this version was much healthier and tastier. We both had the steak and fries. I dont normally eat fries, but these ones were cooked in beef fat, so with the recommendation from our server I gave in and indulged that night. The steak was tasty, melted in my mouth and the fries had a slight taste of beef. They were not greasy, they were properly seasoned, and crispy with every bite. We decided to have an after dinner drink, espresso martini with baileys. John definitely took care of us in making that drink. It was fabulous to taste. We were surprised with a complimentary creme brule, it was the grand finale of the evening. My taste buds were overwhelmed with sensational tastes Ive never experienced before. It was a magical evening of great drinks , apps, entrees, desert, and wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable service. Kudos to Waldos. It was a fine dining experience that would not be forgotten. It is an affordable fine dining experience, we overindulged that night and treated ourselves to lots of extras.

We celebrated our anniversary tonight and Holly took great care of us. My husband said the rib steak special was the best steak he had ever had. The Caesar salad was to die for. I really enjoyed the pasta bar which can give you endless combinations to your choosing. We will be back!

First, I want to say the food was great. Period. The service was fantastic. Im from the States, so I probably will never be back this wY again, but if I did, Id go here. I do have one small downer. I checked the menu at home and decided on the seafood stack. It had scallops on the computer, but they took it off now? I asked the waitress, and she said no more.......I wish she would have asked Waldo or the chef to add them..... however again. My rib eye was great and the seafood bisque was on point. Loved it.

My family and I enjoyed a wonderful NYE meal here last night. The service was incredible and the food was amazing. If anyone is looking for a high quality and family friendly venue to dine at, I certainly would recommend Waldo`s on King. I know for certain that I will be back!

We went there for the first time for New Years Eve as they were offering a five course meal. There was four in the party and we were truly impressed. The value for the food was on par and delicious. The hostess was very accommodating and very funny. She kept the laughter going. I had a great night. I would suggest anyone who hasnt tried Waldos to make the reservation and give it a go. You wont be disappointed. Vegetarian options: The couple we went with were vegetarians and there is a huge selection of options. Try the mushroom soup!

Food was amazing. Our server Mel was one of the best servers we ve ever had, so nice to us making jokes and always made sure we were comfortable.

We have been here on multiple dates. The first time was really good and we loved it. But the second time the place was overly crowded. I was seated so close to the couples next to us that I could hear them chew. Not the kind of a relaxing time I wanted to have with my partner. Food was very good but they charged me $3 in credit card charge when I paid with my debit card. I did not like that at all! For those reasons not gonna choose them for a fancy dinner date again.

The braised short ribs were delicious and the service was great. Good selection of different proteins and I thought the serving size was good for the quality of the food. Would recommend to anybody looking for good food and a lovely atmosphere

Excellent! We arrived at the same time as a large group, so the hostess stepped up and helped serve us and she did a great job. Food was top notch and our group was very happy with our visit to Waldos.

Food was delicious but portions were skimpy. I had the grilled pork tenderloin medallions - I received the bare minimum necessary to use the plural form - 2. Service was top notch.

I dined here for lunch with a friend and had a lovely time. The service was great, the pasta bar lunch was unique and tasty, and the restaurant was clean and has a fun atmosphere. We were seated promptly, and the overall experience great! I will certainly return! Parking: The location is inside the Covenant Garden Market Place. You can park on the street, in impart lots or underground. There is a deal for a bit of free parking if you ask them to validate parking. Its downtown, so take that into consideration, but certainly dont avoid it because of parking.

Got the calamari as a starter and it was so good. Had the actual squid parts rather just the deep fried ringlets that most restaurants have. Got the duck as the main and it was also quite good. And lastly got the creme brulee for dessert and that was also great. Overall a great experience. Service was good. Went on a Tuesday evening and wasn t busy and gave more a private feeling

Went there on Friday night for dinner. Mel was our server. When I got the bill they charged me 4 dollars to use the credit card which I didnt use I had gift certificate and they charged 11 dollars for one bottle of budwaiser. What a rip off. Never again. I rather go to BURGER KING

I highly recommend this restaurant for their exceptional service and delicious food. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was top-notch, always checking in and providing recommendations. Every dish we ordered was beautifully prepared and bursting with flavour. The manager went above and beyond after there was a mix up with our reservation, he made sure our group of 8 got a table and we werent late for our show. As well to make up for the error he treated us all to some champagne and appetizers. As well our server was exceptional. Overall a fantastic dining experience and deserving of a five-star rating! My wife and I planned a night away from the kids. Went to Waldos, as it has a stellar reputation (weve been there before) and it was close to the hotel we booked. Dinner was amazing. My wife and I both ordered the steak (10oz) which came with fries (frites) and asparagus. Both steaks were super tender, and full of flavour. The asparagus was fresh and tasted delicious. And the frites were very good. Dinner was amazing. I wasnt a huge fan of the garlic butter they put on top of the steak, but that was an easy fix. My wife quite liked the garlic butter. To each his or her own. Our server was great. Atmosphere in the restaurant was great. Waldos is a reason for us to make it downtown more often. Vegetarian options: Large selection of vegetarian options on the menu. I believe they are known for their pasta bar, although I got the steak.

Our food was wonderful, one of the best meals I have ever had. But...we told our waitress we had gift cards to use when we sat down. The restaurant got busy, so when we were waiting for the cheque, my boyfriend went up the the waitress at the computer with the gift cards to remind her. We then got the bill and my boyfriend tapped his Visa and added the tip and said he couldnt believe the amount with our gift cards...the waitress said after he paid that it was on him to swipe the gift cards to apply to the bill. And then after she made a joke and said we have lots of time to use them. We left very frustrated, there was nothing more as a customer we could have done. As one who used to be a waitress and a restaurant manager, I would have gone into the POS system and refunded the amount and then applied the gift cards. It unfortunately ended up ruining our experience and date night. I cant reply to the restaurant reply- The gift cards were purchased ahead of time, $25 each, they should have been applied to the bill by swiping the card, its very basic. We didnt know this wasnt already done to apply towards the bill.

We have been to Waldos several times in the last few years and it is firmly on our favourites list! Excellent food and service as usual. One of our few favourite restaurants in the London area and in our opinion one of the top 3. Excellent, prompt and entertaining service from Holly and great food as usual!

Food: 5 stars. You cant beat the Reuben at this or the other location. Service: 4 stars. Polite and knowledgable, but a little on the abrupt side, probably because it seemed they were understaffed. Decor: 3 stars. A little confusing to have olives painted everywhere, but when I asked the server if they serve warm olives as an app, she looked at me like I had 3 heads. You may want to paint over the olives. The fact that the owner charges extra for credit card use: 0 stars. It doesnt matter the reason: It is a cheap practice, especially for an establishment that touts itself as a higher end eatery. Since the law changed, this is the FIRST and ONLY time I have ever been charged this fee by a restaurant, service provider, or retailer, all of whom suffered during lockdowns. How do I know that you are charging me fairly, anyway? What company do you use? What is the fee you are paying to that company? Why didnt you charge me on the tip I gave our server? I hope to God you arent going to charge her! This is the cost of doing business; you simply have to accept that. Youve been in business for at least 20 years, so you know that CC processing costs are a tax-deductible business expense. There is no need to do this to the customer. Glad to remove or change this review if this practice is stopped.

Whenever I want to treat myself or just get comfort food, I go to Waldos on King. Im getting dental surgery tomorrow so I had to have my comfort soup. (The lobster bisque) They are not stingy on the seafood and the flavours are unlike any other! Also the staff is amazing. I was asked several times while I waited for my to go order, if i wanted water, bread, drinks. Then the host even said when I left he hopes everything goes well tomorrow. They always make you feel special and personalize the experience. Please tell your staff that they made my day, when I was terrified about my apt, they made my anxiety drop and the bisque was PERFECTION. You guys really care about ppl and your food and it shows. Thanks for always going above and beyond

Our 2nd pre-concert visit to Waldos on King and they delivered a delicious meal again. 12oz striploin was an amazing cut and simply/perfectly prepared (might even crack my top 5 lifetime steaks). Ceasar salad was fresh with a light and flavorful dressing. Our server was cheerful and eag3 to please. Overall a lovely dinner thank you!

Went there for our 1st wedding anniversary. Food was amazing and the service was the BEST. John gave us the best recommendations, and we looooooved all dishes we ordered there. Best lamb dish in London for sure, and AAA angus steak was also amazing. Go find John if you want to celebrate your day and ask for his recommendations!! Won t regret. What a wonderful experience here. John was our waiter. He did a great job. The food came quickly, it was delicious. We had wine and we were given a couple of samples of beer and wine to try. For our anniversary, they gave us a free chocolate souffle. Again the service was really great! Free parking ticket too. Only 4 for atmosphere because we were very warm in there and my husband didnt like that the wait station was right beside us so there was more traffic. Minor detail because it so....good otherwise.

Loved it here. Great music, played softly so you could clearly hear each other. Met the owner, Mark, a nd gave him a big hug......he is a great hugger. Great meal. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian selections. Parking: Parked under Covent Garden market and when I mentioned it to our server, who was really lovely and attentive, he gave us a free parking ticket. Yay all around.

Absolutely an experience. The bistro is very cozy, and beautiful. The food was awesome! The grilled Calamari (appetizer) was a killer! I had the salmon, my husband had the pasta feast? (I think thats what it was called). Everything tasted delicious. Our server was extremely nice, and they were very accomodating of our needs. We brought a cake for the birthday we were celebrating and they brought it out with spark candles, then cut it for us and served it in a very beautiful way at an added cost but was absolutely worth it because they add some fruit and decorate it. Thanks so much, well definitely be back!

The service was horrendous when we went for my mothers birthday last night. We sat half an hour just waiting for the bill, and then waiting for the machine. (And I mean literally half an hour, I timed it, not an exaggeration.) The waiter seemed to be in a hurry even when taking our order. The food wasnt too impressive either - the pan-seared shrimps were good, but the mesclun salad was underwhelming (almost without dressing), and the grilled ahi tuna and rack of lamb lacked enough sauce. Wont be back.

Went here based on the five star reviews and was disappointed. Tables TOO close for comfort, if you weren t careful you d bump into fellow diners mere inches away. Couldn t enjoy a romantic evening with my wife as I would ve liked. Long wait for server and food, I thought I was invisible. Food was great even if it was a bit scanty on the plate. Last but not least, a fee to use credit cards-what?!Would I be back? Nope

Very disappointed. Credit card fee as mentioned in another review. Ordered the seafood stack. Smallest piece of salmon I ve ever been served and 3 pieces of shrimp. With taxes and tip, $47. Absolutely not worth the prices. I did like the flavour of the sauce but both of my friends could not finish their meals, as they were underwhelmed by them. Also did not get to choose my side, which was disappointing. Amazing service however. Servers and hostess were very kind and attentive. I just feel that for the high prices, I did not receive quality food. Many other better options to eat in London!

Went to waldos on Saturday night for my birthday. Havent been since before covid-19. It was just as good as ever. It is pricey but worth every penny. Had the lamb that has been my favorite for years. My wife had the short ribs and she loved them. Scott are waiter was wonderful. Great job for keeping it a memorable spot for me. I will be back soon. Stuart.

My husband and I are relatively new to London, and we have been looking for our go to dinner spot. This place is it. The service was amazing, our waiter John was friendly and helpful, made great recommendations and made sure we were taken care of through out the night. Food was delicious, flavourful, it taste home made. Up until now, one of the generic chain restaurants has been our default place to go for a weekday/weekend dinner, and it is fine, it is very standard. When you visit a place like Waldos, the food taste home made. It tastes like some one made the dish just for you. Price is fair and reasonable, portion is generous. We will be coming back here.

Heard good reviews of this place but when we tried it, it was super average and very expensive..I don t know any other restaurant that charges you a credit card fee on top of over the top prices for meh food. The cafe de paris butter had no flavor, and the Lake Erie fish was just bland and flavorless. For the price, you can get sooooo many better options elsewhere. Asked the waiter for menu for dessert and drinks, but he ignored us lol. Wish we could get our money back but oh well

Over priced for a very average food and service. On top of that the credit card fee was on the bill even before we were asked about the payment method! How did the waiter decide that we would pay by credit! Very disappointed! I visited the place based on good reviews but not worth it.

Had dinner here on Friday, and had a good experience. The service was quick and attentive, our server John did a good job. I had a Tom Collins and it was awesome! On the sweet side just how I like it. Food was great, we had mussels, Cesar salad, and a rulibeye and striploin steak. Bonus points for not using seed oils in their cooking! Would like to come back!

Recently had lunch here with a friend. It was wise to have made a reservation because the restaurant was full. I had the chicken pot pie and fries. Portion size was generous. Pastry was very flaky and the filling was fabulous. Nice chunks of chicken, together with leeks and mushrooms. Fries were fresh, hot and nicely seasoned. The only downside was the cost to park in the garage. It was $15! I pay less in Toronto.

With Patio season starting we had a lovely lunch outdoors recently and were served by our favorite server who treats you just right. We had fresh perch as an appetizer (breaded) and as a main (pan fried in butter). My Baboo had the mushroom crepe. We splurged on dessert and tried both the creme brule and the creme carmel!! Its one of our favorite, and convenient, spots in London. On King at the Market.

We have been so busy that we haven t had time to review. My husband and I went here for a dinner without our kids one evening. We were served by Kathleen and she was an absolute delight! She was so much a part of our amazing experience. The wine list is amazing, and the food impeccable! We left feeling like we needed a wheelbarrow to get us out of there! We will most certainly be returning!!!

Wifey took me there for my birthday. We loved it. Tomato soup 10/10 Pasta with blush sauce, viggies, chicken and crab 10/10 Rack of lambs, oh those lambs, with potatoes and viggies, ordered without wine glazing. 10/10 Next time im trying some zucchini dishes and they have this lobster and shrimp soup looked delicious. Just went to Waldos on King, had the Calamri and Brazed Short Ribs with a London Brewing Co-Op Cream Ale. Love Calamri but not deep fried. This is by far the best grilled Calamari I have ever had and few restaurants grill thier calamari, but this is it! The Brazed Sort ribs were tender and cooked to perfection, doesnt get better than this...amazing. Money well spent!

Waldos always delivers a great food experience and top-quality service. Located right in the heart of downtown London, you can browse the market and then drop in for a nice lunch or dinner. If you are attending any events at the Budweiser Centre, its right across the road.

Celebrated an anniversary with 8 of us and they brought out dessert! Also ask for their spicy Caesar.

Sooooo disappointed!! So much potential drink and dessert were amazing, however the appetizers where poorly thought out. The main dish was bland. And everything was serviced with fruit. Fois gras with mango Cooley anyone?? That s a no from me. Also the beet salad left me wanting and the ceasar salad dressing smeared on the side was less then impressive. Will not be returning. So disappointing when the reviews were 5 star.

We were greeted with a smile and an explanation that when there is a concert in town reservations are required. We started to leave when a downpour started. Having no umbrella we would been soaked and still had to find a place to eat. Just then the owner came out and offered us a place at the bar to eat. If I could rate the food and service ten stars I would. The food was full of flavor and the breadsticks melt in your mouth. Ryan makes a mean spicy Cesar! Yum, Yum! The service from the staff was above professional. They all had smiles and made you feel so welcome. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting quality food and the most relaxed welcoming atmosphere! Thank you!

It s hard to say which is better, Waldo s on King s food (which is outstanding) or the staff (who are truly world class). Mark Kitching has created a space in which his staff seem personally invested in your dining experience. Tonight we were greeted warmly and immediately, and made to feel very welcome. Our server Kathleen was utterly perfect: attentive, engaging, personable and fun, but in no way intrusive. The steak was cooked to perfection and every bite was delicious. This is not the first time I ve had a great experience at Waldo s on King, and I can highly recommend them to anyone looking for an elegant but relaxed atmosphere, excellent staff, and top notch meals.

This was our second time eating here. The food was amazing! It was noisy but we were there on a concert night so the restaurant was full! Both my son and I have mobility issues and there is an elevator to the bathrooms! This was so convenient!

Food was good but service was inattentive. Drinks left empty for majority of the meal. No one asked how our food was, at any point. Overheard a woman (assumed to be a manager) say if they really wanted it, they would have asked twice. Felt like we were an inconvenience to the wait staff. Unfortunate experience.

I can confidently say that I will never be back here again. As a Bistro I was expecting a moderate menu and good atmosphere but was greeted with high prices and cockroaches. Yes cockroaches, in the dining room, on the opposite wall of the kitchen. Not just one, but at least three. I had a server kill one on the booth across from me, one climbed up me before I noticed it and was able to kill it, and I saw one scuttle along the floor as we were leaving. Additionally, I felt like I was bumping elbows with the people beside me, as the tables were so close to each other. After dinner, I calmly discussed the pest problem with owner, Mark Kitching, who claims almost 50 years of restaurant experience. After listening to my complaint, he apologized but said there was nothing he could do, and the roaches were due to the market. He claimed to have the place sprayed every 2 weeks, but if that is the case and it was so bad I still saw 3 roaches, I am severely concerned. In the end, we paid full prices, and their minimum 18% tip (yes minimum not optional) for dinner. I will admit the food and service were good but the atmosphere and pest problem absolutely ruin the place. I do not recommend dining here until they have their issues sorted.

I have always had excellent experiences whenever I go to Waldos. I have been going there for many special occasions, business meetings or casual meals out for almost twenty years and have never been dissapponted. I will continue to refer people i know to Waldos as its always a first class experience.

Waldos always satisfies our food and drink desires. Vegetarian options: Waldos has an excellent selection of veg meals. I am confident that if you have a request beyond the menu, Mark and his team will do everything they can to serve your needs.

This is perhaps my favorite restaurant in London. The food is consistently excellent! There are no wrong choices here, every appetizer and main has been chosen and tweeked to perfection. The rack of lamb, braised beef ribs, roast duck, and beef tenderloin are a few of my favorites, but the pasta bar is an easy please and their gnocchi is amazing! You will be impressed if you visit this mainstay of downtown London; I guarantee it!

Came to London for our sons convocation from Western. Had to have lunch before leaving that we found this place. I cant believe the service going above and beyond. We had a cake to serve him and they allowed that, but they took the cake and dressed it up per plate for us like a 5 star restaurant. And it was our cake and they did not make money off it. That money went to the waiter who game that service.

Excellent. Food was fab, service prompt and friendly without being OTT. Stand-outs included the calamari, chocolate mousse, all three entrees we had (duck, lamb, perch) and the wine list is interesting. Will go back! Parking: Parking is super close beneath the restaurant.

This has been my second time back, and both times, I did not suffer the dread of buyers remorse. The service was, without a doubt, excellent, no its ands or buts. It did not feel force and the setting was rather great, even though it is small, it feels nice to sit in. Not over the top, simply a good place to enjoy a meal. The soup of the day was quite nice. Though I wish there were mushrooms inside of the soup, it still tasted great. I had a croq monssiuer (Forgot how to spell it, sorry...) with a garden salad- orange vinaigrette. The only thing that felt out of place was the mushrooms, but other than that, I was pleasantly surprised on how good the salad tasted. The sandwich itself was nicely done. Rich and filling. Though I had to add a pinch of salt on both sides of the bread. Normally, I would not have desert but to give it a fair shot, they gave me something off the menu. And again, they did not disappoint. Creamy, not too sweet (but pairs well with tea), the syrup actually tasting home made while the strawberries actually tasted great, I finished it all without forcing myself to. Though expensive, for once, I would like to formally say that this place is well worth the price stamp it advertises. I have never shown a finished plate until now. I highly recommend this place.

We had the Ceasar Salad and Chicken Satays..Delicious just enough for my gf and me to split...Very curtious staff..Friendly..Food Delicious...Went above and beyond....The 11 30 Ladies....lol Thank you..

We went to Waldos on King last night for the first time. Everything was delicious! Atmosphere was great and all the staff were amazing. We will definitely be back.

Great place! We went for Sunday Brunch. Not a lot of options but the food was good! The staff was friendly and we were well taken care of while we were there.

Had an excellent meal at Waldos on Saturday night and received spectacular service from Sanam. She was attentive, friendly and very accommodating of everyones dietary needs. Each of us commented on how she provided some of the best service weve ever had. Wonderful job, will certainly be going back!

I highly recommend Waldos for dinner or an event. We had a team dinner last night and the food and the service was exceptional, great atmosphere as well. I had one issue and emailed Mark and without hesitation he got back to me and we cleared it up. This is the first time I had been there or met Mark and you can tell immediately that Mark loves what he does and takes pride in it. He is welcoming and there to make your experience one you will enjoy and will bring you back again. Thank you Mark and team.

Amazing foods & Service!

We dined at Waldos on King before the show at Budweiser Gardens. Our food was delicious and our experience was made even more special because of the wonderful service Sanam have us.

Waldos is our GO TO restaurant for family celebrations or just a quiet romantic dinner for two. We love the food here. The service is always with a smile ! Holly served us last evening for a family birthday celebration and everyone was super happy with their meal. Thank you Mark Kitchen and staff !

Wonderful to gather with friends after a long absence. The ambiance is great. Our server Holly was amazing and the friendly atmosphere all around was palpable. Mark was hi usual wonderful host self and all was lovely. Dietary restrictions: Very thoughtful about celiac and helpful re appropriate menu items we had the ahi tuna with wasabi rice and asparagus and it was divine!

Great food and service. Go for lunch every 2 weeks. Liz is the best.
