I had my final dinner here during my holiday in London, and it was truly the perfect choice to end my trip. The staff's courtesy and kindness were so heartwarming, and the food was undeniably delightful. The desserts, in particular, were exceptional—on another level entirely. At one point, I asked for wet towels (hand wipes), but they weren’t typically provided. I gave up on the request and forgot about it. However, a few minutes later, one of the servers (unfortunately, I didn’t catch his name) thoughtfully improvised and created some for us, and they turned out to be of excellent quality.
The food was SUPER super SUPER super good. Lamb neck and the pork tenderloin beautifully served. Scallops with the black pudding - wow. Service so delightful! Absolutely plush refuge away from the craziness of a pre-Christmas Saturday in the area. However one note: I found the two cocktails terrible - especially the pink mulled wine - extremely stewed and bitter, perhaps left for too long on heat with too much zest. To be safe we ordered sparkling wine and champagne next - was a far better option. However food and staff were so great I didn’t want to complain, overall we were delighted and will be back.
The food tasted very ordinary, considering the price it was not worth it. The burger was doused in truffle sauce to a point the sauce was what you taste the most. The fish and chips had very dry fish and the chips had no taste at all. We had also ordered the Potted Shrimp Crumpet which the dish had tasted just plain bad and weird. How ever the service was good only that the water needed to be paid for and whenever we asked for more water they would only pour up to 1/4 of the cup, and the bathroom at the restroom was extremely inconvenient since it was all the way downstairs of where we had dined. The atmospheres was okay, but it was not the best we had seen. In conclusion if you were to come to London I would not suggest for you to go to this establishment.
The perfect spot to have lunch after visiting Spencer House or shopping on Jermyn St. It is located in the basement level of the Duke hotel (which is hidden enough that one might miss it), but it is well worth the effort to find it. It has a whiff of exclusivity and privacy that made us feel like we were on the know, and the staff was so friendly we immediately felt like regulars, even though it was our first time. We whiled away the time while nibbling on light fare, but there was nothing light about its execution, which hit all the right notes. 1. Their fish and chips were outstanding and even though not a fan of this pedestrian dish, here I had to take my hat off. It was perfect, with three types of relishes. And for one who never eats chips, one bite and I was a convert. What makes them so good? They are cooked three times!! And I could have easily eaten three portions of them. 2. Cure trout was just the right size to cure my jet lag, and it came with what looked like a giant blue corn chip, but the color came from squid's ink. A dramatic presentation with the right balance and contrast of taste and vivid colors. 3, The heritage tomatoes from the Isle of Wight (in the middle of November!) was a light, crips and refreshing salad. Wish we had tried more offerings from their menu, but we had an early dinner so sadly we could not sample their summer trifle. Finally when I was planning my schedule I found the restaurant in Google, but was turned off by the pompous sounding name. I was misled by my own biases, but luckily by walking by decided to give it a try. Needless to say, next time in London we will stay at the Dukes.
Located in the heart of St James, a few street away form st james palace and a 5 minute walk down from Piccadilly Circus tube stop, the restaurant is down one flight of stairs down from the concierge, the venue offers a warm welcome with stylish faded glass-panel walls and ceilings, complemented by a well-equipped bar. The lunch menu is appealing, though the wine selection is limited. Unfortunately, no Dukes martinis are available on Sundays, as Dukes Bar is closed. The service stands out—staff are friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Seating options are comfortable, with cozy booths and row seating for up to four. The menu focuses on classic British cuisine, with a few notable highlights: • The smoked aubergine paired with crispy seeded biscuits was flavorful and well-prepared. • The monkfish in batter, however, was underwhelming—the fish portion was small, and the batter overly dominant. That said, the accompanying chips were perfectly cooked. • The scallops with black pudding were average, lacking any standout flavors. • The pork was unfortunately dry, though the accompanying sauce provided some relief. As for drinks, the wine by the glass was somewhat underwhelming, leaving room for improvement in the beverage selection.
Highly recommend their scallops! They were cooked to perfection. The rib eye was alright too. We were lucky rough to get a discount via fork. Very pleased about that. Very friendly staff
I recently visited this restaurant and was absolutely delighted! The atmosphere is incredibly cozy, with pleasant music and stylish decor. The service was top-notch — the staff was polite, attentive, and very friendly. As for the food, that's a whole other story — the dishes were simply amazing! Everything was very fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. I especially want to highlight the dish (fried pork belly with peas and potato croquettes); it was absolutely delightful! The portions are generous, and the prices are quite reasonable for this level. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy not only delicious food but also a pleasant atmosphere. I will certainly come back again!
The Great British Restaurant has an upscale vibe within a posh atmosphere. Our waiter was OUTSTANDING. The food was average-good in taste, portion size was on the smaller size and the meal was over priced in my opinion.
The service provided here is topnotch. The staff are so pleasant and warm. Had a great time, will definitely use the service when I am in London again.

The Great British Restaurant is found within the luxury hotel, Dukes Hotel at St James. As tourists, we wanted to eat good British food and the Great British Restaurant was a great find! We tried Black Pudding, Oat Porridge with Peanut Butter & Banana and a selection of English Tea. If you are heading to the Buckingham Palace, do make an effort to have breakfast at the Great British Restaurant before the Change of Guard parade.
Old english vibes
a wonder We almost turned away because we dont like hotel restaurants But we stay They took great care of us very nice place A wonderful corner The only bad thing is that if the windows are not very well sealed and if you are close to the windows it feels a little cold. But highly recommended We had delicious cocktails and good food, with the option of half portions. In my case, I wasnt very hungry and it was very good for me.
this place is a scam, be careful. Jane treated me terribly and it was an overall horrible experience.

Food
Found this restaurant online with availability for a Saturday night dinner for two people at short notice. The food was excellent: British classics done fabulously well. The monkfish scampi and the shepherds pie were really well received, excellently prepared and delicious. Desserts were also lovely. Two mains, two desserts, and four large glasses of wine came to £160, inclusive of service charge. I d recommend this restaurant and would like to dine here again someday.
Excelent food and service.
The Great British Restaurant in London is fantastic! The fish and chips were crispy and delicious, and the beef Wellington was cooked perfectly. The sticky toffee pudding for dessert was so good sweet and rich. The staff were super nice and helpful, and the atmosphere was cozy. If you love British food, this place is a must-visit!

Great speedy service, food is also on point
very good food and with a kind staff
Exceptional service. However, an interesting chef who has no interest in accommodating diners with any dietary requirements. The servers came over 5 times to tell me I could/could not eat something with a different answer from the chef every time?!
Beautiful restaurants in London area of SW,cool will be back!
Came here for a pre Birthday treat, the atmosphere was slightly underwhelming but our waiter Daniel more than made up for it with his warm hospitality and the food was great too!
