IVK Stratford aims to serve healthy, tasty, home-cooked Caribbean fusion food full of flavour with only good vibez IVK founder Pravie Maharaj says "since I arrived in England in 2006 there has been an explosion of chicken shop fried food, we aim for IVK to bring healthy home cooked food to all and to offer a better alternative. IVK came from my desire to represent all of the Caribbean Islands , unlike a typical Caribbean restaurant that just predominantly represents Jamaican food. Trinidad and Tobago reflects a fusion of African, Creole, Indian south Asian, Chinese, Amerindian, Arab, European and Latin American- Spanish , Portuguese cuisine. So come and relax in Stratford East Bar E15 and "Feel The Rhythm And Taste The Vibez"
This restaurant I think is one of the best Trinidadian cuisines I’ve been to in east London . Fast service , food tasted very authentic full of spice and flavour couldn’t really ask for more . Ontop of that the bar is really good for drink options , their cocktails are amazing as well as their rum punch id highly recommend it !!! My go to was definetly the patties as a little starter
My experience at Island Vibez Kitchen was unfortunately not a completely satisfactory one. The food I admit was rather good. The atmosphere was also a good enough experience. The letdown was being served food in throw away boxes and containers, with wooden utensils. You mean to say that I'm going to a theatre show at a very regal venue, only to be served food in cardboard? The two just does not add up. I suggest they compliment the whole evenings event by returning to serving food in proper crockery.
Went here as we were seeing a show at Stratford East. Booked a table and when we arrived they didn't have our booking. Got shown to our table and was just left there. No menus, weren't told how to order etc. They had run out of jerk chicken at 6pm on a Friday. I asked if I could swap the chicken for wings. Was told not tried to order wings with sides. No sides sold after 6pm. Only meal boxes. Absolute shambles. Don't bother. Family ordered the mutton roti which was okay, decent portion size.
We had a decent meal here - and we think it's totally undeserving of all the negative reviews. It's not the most glamorous place, but the food is good, the staff are attentive and friendly, and the food is really tasty and feels more authentically Caribbean than Rum Kitchen. The portion sizes are great, and the staff were more than happy to switch my rice for plantain. Most places nowadays refuse to make adjustments or charge extra - but this restaurant was really relaxed about it. Our food arrived quickly - perhaps after 15 minutes - although it was quiet when we went, with only 3 or so other tables. We're due to see a show on Friday, so we booked a table whilst we were there. Staff mentioned that they get backed up with orders right before a show, creating longer wait times (which I guess is what people are complaining about) and suggest to arrive earlier - 1.5 hours before your show is due to start. Anyway, we almost didn't come due to the bad reviews, but we decided to give it a go and make our own opinions - and we are definitely glad for it. Will be back on Friday - and no doubt again in future.
Food was inedible. Chicken old, burnt and clearly reheated (bottom was rubbery) with no flavour even with the sauce over the top. Mac & Cheese was rubbery, dry with no taste. This meal cost approx £15. It tasted like it’s been sat on the shelf since 9am or the day before. As you can see, presentation’s clearly also not a priority, why even add the salad if it’s going to look like that?! Server couldn’t tell the difference between whole/half & quarter chicken. Told us to expect 1/2 chicken for that price. Probably good only a 1/4 was served because it was yuk! I wouldn’t recommend and won’t be returning.
Had a great dinner here. Was with a large group and we were treated with great graciousness and generosity. Service was smiley and warm, but more importantly, the food was very nice. I tried the mutton curry with rice and peas, and the chicken roti. Flavours were spot on, and I thoroughly enjoyed my food with a dash of peppery Encona sauce 🔥
First Sunday in the Month - scheduled Soca Sunday! Picture 1...?Mutton roti revealed a wrap of near dehydrated content. "Salad" speaks for itself. Picture 2 ? Eschivich fish...turned our to be two chunks of fried fish with a side barbecue based "sauce/gravy". won't comment about the rice n peas (suffice to say that I had a pint in my right hand🥺)Again....the "salad" speaks for itself. Picture 3 ....well...you get the gist! Summary: 200%-10,000% committed to supporting our businesses HOWEVER, aside not having menu basics (early in the day) such as plantain and CHIPS, it was the totally insensitive comment, when the deficits were brought to the "manager's" attention. My insulin dependent friend requested that her meal be brought as soon as possible, the manager's response as she walked away was " What has that got to do with me? That's not my problem!" And I will stop here😣
Two star is for the taste and the service but for £8 the roti was smaller than an iPhone 5 and the patties were smaller than a Nokia mobile. Jamaica me hungry is less than five minutes away and has better food for value of money.
Good food will be back
Food is bad.bad service bad everything
I LOVED the chicken roti and the music
WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND !
AN EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE AT WHAT SHOULD BE A PRIME CARIBBEAN RESTAURANT NEAR TO THE STRATFORD EAST THEATRE. THEY RAN OUT OF CURRIED CHICKEN ALTHOUGH IT IS DISPLAYED ON THE VERY SCRUFFY AND UNHYGIENIC MENU. THE TABLES WERE FILTHY WITH DRIED UP FLUIDS/DRINKS. I WISHED I HAD WIPES IN MY BAG TO CLEAN OURS. WE TRAVELLED FROM FAR TO SEE A SHOW AND DECIDED TO GO TO THE NEAREST EATERY. A SMALL PORTION WAS SERVED IN A BOX WITH A WOODEN FORK. DRY LUKE WARM RICE, A SPRINKLING OF STALE SALAD WITH NO DRESSING AVAILABLE. ... THE SMALLEST PORTION OF MUTTON (ALLEGEDLY) WAS PREDOMINANTLY BONE. WORST CARIBBEAN STYLE FOOD I HAVE EVER EATEN. AND I KNOW. BECAUSE I AM JAMAICAN AND EATEN MANY CUISINES IN MANY PLACES. EITHER IMPROVE HYGIENE, MENU AND HEALTH & SAFETY OR SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN. ITS A TOTAL EMBARRASSMENT TO LEGITIMATE CARIBBEAN EATERIES. THERE IS A LOT MORE I COULD SAY BUT WONT. I WOULD GIVE IT ZERO STARS IF IT WOULD LET ME. HENCE ONE STAR
The food wasnt good. Its was cold and old. It was a waste of time.
Havent been to Vibez for a long time. Its such a nice venue. The food was lovely, had my favourite Roti. Staff were excellent and gracious throughout the evening. Im definitely going to make this one of my places to visit in 2023. Vegetarian options: Excellent choices.
I had to wait 40 minutes for food which was not even a whole meal but a side. The food wasn t hot and lacked flavour esp as something as uncomplicated as doubles. The roti that came with it was doughy and not as nice as it could be. Luckily there was some hot sauce which I added in.. I love Trinidadian food but next time I ll stick to where I know..
Im sorry to say, there food was yuk. Never eating there again Food
Sorry to say but These reviews do not represent the current standards and service of IVK. The food Tastes like it s been properly Marinated and Cooked with LOVE. Authentic Trinidadian restaurants are hard to come by and I can tell you that IVK is top of my list. The Chef made her presence and can honestly say she is a lovely vibrant woman and a true representation of the great standards of food. The IVK staff greet you with great smiles and exceptional service. I can t honestly think of anything bad to say. This place is VERY underrated!!
Feel like this place needs a bigup because its always been a stop off for me for a while but dont see many reviews. Good vibes chilled atmosphere and good food especially if you want to get away from the other noisier parts of Stratford. Not to mention ghe theatre is right there.
I like the place very lively good music
I was with a large group of friends who reserved a table for 15 people. I asked for jerk chicken meal and nothing then asked for mac and cheese and they didnt have any. I decided to go back to table to think what I will order then joined the queue again. As I got to the front of the queue they tell me kitchen is closed till 7:20pm after waiting again I tried to order roti and I was told theres no more meat roti as they made other show people priority. I wouldnt recommend this restaurant as I had no food and vibes.
Best Food Order on Just Eat guys #justEat Order online Food : 5/5
Beautiful
Took 40 mins to come :( had to rush before the show. When it came my chicken roti was cold! Waste of money.
I had high expectations but was quite disappointed. They barely had anything available on their menu and the sides I got were decent. Such a shame as its a wonderful vibe but I wouldnt order food there again x
real tasty
Terrible. Ordered a delivery and was utterly disappointed. The coleslaw was a tiny portion for £3.50 and watery and nasty. Even supermarket diet coleslaw is better than that. The doubles were poor too, stale and soaked in oil. The vegan patty was just filled with brown lentils and nothing else. Such a waste of money
Honestly such a lovely environment, they have gave us wonderful service and just great atmosphere! Coming here again for sure! Get the muy tai cocktail!
If you want authentic, traditional Trinidadian food with an ambience to match then you must visit this place immediately! You immediately feel welcomed upon entering, which sets the tone for your visit. The roti will have you licking your fingers and wanting more. Great selection of food, drinks and if you are lucky, some fantastic live music to compliment your meal.
Great food and atmosphere love the curry mutton with Mac and cheese and the jerk chicken is full of flavour. Real trini style roti love it . Friendly staff
Great food!!
I ordered two meals, which surprisingly took close to an hour to arrive. Although they were not takeaway meals they were presented to us boxed up, the contents of the boxes contained a table spoon of very thinly cut salad, resembling the part of the salad head you would discard, a decent to average portion of rice which was cooked well and in my opinion tasted nice, it was supposed to be a barbecue chicken meal, very few options were available. The most shocking/upsetting element was the chicken part of this meal which consisted of three pieces of overdone, dry chicken on the bone; one tiny poussin sized wing and 2 equally small legs. This was no accident as both meals were identical. This little chicken died in vane! One suck and it was off the bone. I have been coming here since my son was at school, he is 28yrs old now; I have never experienced anything like this here before.
Lovely place. Beautifully decorated .
Enjoyed food and drinks here at the monthly reggae revival night! Recommended!
I had dined at IVK a few months ago and at the time thought it was dreadful! Most of the items on the menu seemed to be on vacation (at lunchtime!) And when we did eventually find something which was available it was all unappetising, dry and had DEFINITELY been reheated from the previous day,...or so it seemed! Ever eager to support our Black businesses we decided to give it another try last night. I am so sorry to have to report its just as bad and even worse...food horrible compounded by customer service.... non-existant! Once again, staple items not available. I ordered a side of plantain and when told they didnt have any then tried to be helpful by saying that instead of reversing the charge on an already paid bill I would settle for the monetary equilance in Mac n cheese. This created some confusion but eventually the manager said it was all fine. Wish Id asked for my plantain money back. Got a finger size slice of Mac which then had the cheek to be dry and tough as old boots and I will never believe it was bakes yesterday. I mean people really?!??? There was not a slice of onion, pepper, lime or other staples on the Escovitch fish which was served with a side pot of watered down barbeque sauce. ESCOVITCH!!!?? The nail in the coffin was when I asked if the food could not be delayed as I am diabetic and had already spent time grappling with the menu. Although we smiled when I was told that wasnt their business...we need to be careful how we respond to customers and appreciate somethings are just not to be treated as a joke. It was to save your feelings why I let that pass but someone else may not feel the same qay! Sad to say if I am at Theatre Royal again and am hungry. I will go off to get some KFC as the table next to us did.....Still would love to support you but.......it would also have been nice if youd asked how the meal was when you picked up the dishes. Hope you wont get any more reviews like this because even if we are not going to visit again we do sincerely wish IVK the best.
Save your time and money. Portion is minute. Absolutely no flavour. Catered mainly to vegans. Wish I could give a 0
One of the hidden gems of Stratford City. A real carribean taste of home. The fall off the bone oxtails with rice & peas, are to die for.
A Caribbean gem in the square, Great taste and a really particular flavours. I highly recommend the Rotis.
I never really noticed the bar but the kiosk is a definite one to stop by. Unlike most West Indian places the taste and smell is unique. We had the doubles and had to run off so took roti skins home. It was really worth it. Keep up the good work guys...for my thirds
Great tasting food, amazing location, really looking forward to the upcoming Hot wings challenges and other really cool events going on
Dreadful. Went to celebrate my birthday before seeing the panto. When the theatre first started serving Caribbean food it was fantastic, then gradually became mediocre. Tonight it was awful. Three of us ordered and one plate came at least 5 minutes before the others. The rice and beans were obviously days old, heated up in a microwave. The famous jerk chicken came with a very disappointing sauce served separately. The roti had been overmicrowaved and was too hard to eat. My son found shredded meat in the vegan food. He told them and they just said sorry, didnt offer to replace the food. I had to give this one star as without it it wouldnt let me post!
Went for lunch with friends and everyone was happy with their food choices! Food tasted delicious and was very reasonably priced. Staff friendly & polite. Nice vibes. Will be going back again!. The grand opening night was fantastic, great music, great vibes. Brilliant atmosphere. I will be at the next soca Sunday and any other events they will be having!
Attended their furst Soca Sunday yesterday. Fantastic. Great food, live music, dj too. Atmosphere well words cant express it. Keep up the standard IVK and you will go far. This is in the winter whats is it going to be like come the summer months. Get there early for a good inside seating.
Really disappointed with this restaurant. We ordered from the pre Theatre menu. Chickpea curry was barely warm & lacked flavour. I was so underwhelmed that I didnt take a picture. Literally 10 chickpeas with one cube of potatoe in a lack lustre sauce. Accompanied by the saddest Iceberg lettuce salad I have ever seen. As a Vegan customer honestly they could do better. To have the audacity to price the dish the same as the Chicken Roti is riddiculous. Such a shame Caribbean restsurants just cant seem to get it right
